#Marvel#Marvel comics#Spider-Force#Scarlet Spider#Kaine#Kaine Parker#Spider-Woman#Jessica Drew#Ashley Barton#Spider-Kid#Charlie Parker#There’s some brief but very interesting discussion on the term ‘hero’ in this series#they don’t spend much time on it favor of getting the plot wrapped up in three issues#but here for example I just will always be intrigued with Kaine’s relationship with and perspective on his status as a ‘hero’#since he seems to be very without illusion both on what it means and who he is#that ‘heroism’ is rarely perfectly black and white and that is particularly true when he is involved#either due to his violent past or what he might see as some innate ‘deficiencies’ or even because he’s willing to do whatever is necessary#for the greater good#Kaine somehow manages to be both very clear-eyed in some matters and incredibly repressed in others#quite the intriguing contrast hahaha#oh and one last thing impacting Kaine’s experience with being hero#there’s also the fact that being the hero has gotten him run out of town and hurt people close to him so there’s that#kind of an interesting take on the whole ‘I keep my ID secret to protect my loved ones’#Kaine’s a bit more fatalistic with ‘people /will/ get hurt no matter what you do but you must do the right thing nonetheless’
