Mayblade Day 12 Ship: Xiuying Wei x Kai Hiwatari

Copper-red eyes watched as Kai slowly swayed his arms and body, his movements as precise as that of a true warrior. They were at Zhuque Village, with the Elders teaching the four boys to control their Bitbeasts more well and invoke them in flesh.

Xiuying’s body was sore, but her heart hurt more. Watching Kai train with such focus, unaware of her feelings, was a constant torment. She tried to push through, to mask her emotions behind a determined exterior, but it was becoming harder with each passing day.

Today they were going to spar, and Ying Nan- her Elder aunt- clapped her palms. “Alright, everyone, pair up!” She called out. The group quickly found their partners, and Xiuying found herself facing her cousin, Zhanye. He gave her a reassuring smile, unaware of the storm brewing inside her.

As they began their sparring session, Xiuying’s movements were sharp and precise, each strike fueled by the turmoil within her. Zhanye, though skilled, was taken aback by the intensity in her eyes. He tried to keep up, but Xiuying’s frustration and anguish were driving her beyond her usual limits.

With each clash, her strikes became more forceful, her movements more aggressive. Zhanye struggled to keep his footing as Xiuying’s attacks grew relentless. The rest of the students and the team watched in confusion, sensing that something was amiss.

“Xiuying, take it easy!” Zhanye gasped, trying to defend himself. But she didn’t hear him, her mind lost in the chaotic swirl of her emotions.

Finally, with a powerful kick, she sent Zhanye sprawling to the ground. He lay there, winded and dazed, while Xiuying stood over him, her chest heaving with exertion and pent-up anger.

The hall fell silent, everyone’s eyes on Xiuying. She looked around, her gaze meeting Kai’s. His confused and concerned expression was the final straw. Unable to hold back any longer, she let out a cry of frustration and stormed out of the hall, leaving everyone stunned.

“Xiuying!” Ray called after her, but she didn’t stop. She needed to escape, to find a place where she could be alone with her thoughts.

Tyson frowned, looking towards the door where Xiuying had disappeared. “Should we go after her?”

Hitoshi stepped forward. “I think she needs some space right now. But someone should talk to her, find out what’s going on.”

Kai’s heart ached at the thought of Xiuying in pain. He nodded, determination in his eyes. “I’ll go. She needs to know she’s not alone.”

As he left the training hall, Mingyue helped Zhanye to his feet. “Are you okay?” she asked, concern lacing her voice.

Zhanye nodded, wincing slightly. “Yeah, I’m fine. But Xiuying... I’ve never seen her like this. She’s usually so composed.”

Outside, Xiuying had found a quiet spot near the edge of the training grounds. She sank to the ground, burying her face in her hands as tears streamed down her cheeks. The overwhelming mix of love, frustration, and helplessness was too much to bear.

She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself, but the weight of her unspoken feelings was too much to bear. She turned to leave, only to find Kai standing in her path.

“Hey, can we talk?” he asked, his tone casual. Xiuying’s heart pounded in her chest. “Sure,” she replied, trying to sound nonchalant.

“What’s going on, Xiuying? You’ve been distant lately. And today with Zhanye- it looked like you were having a real fight. What's wrong?" He asked.

She bit her lip, her mind racing. How could he be so clueless? “No, it’s nothing you did, Kai. I just... I have a lot on my mind.” Kai’s brows furrowed. “You can talk to me, you know. We’re Friends.”

A bitter laugh escaped her lips before she could stop it. “Friends, right. But that’s all we are, isn’t it?” Kai looked taken aback. “What do you mean by that?” He asked, having a feeling where this talk was going.

Xiuying felt the dam inside her breaking. All the emotions she had been holding back surged forward, and before she could stop herself, the words came tumbling out. “I mean that it’s easy for you to say we’re Friends when you have no idea how I feel! You don’t see me, Kai. Not the way I see you.”

Kai’s eyes widened in shock. “Xiuying, I—”

But she wasn’t done. “Every day, I watch you, and it tears me apart because I know you don’t feel the same way. I’ve tried to hide it, to be strong, but I can’t anymore. I’m in love with you, Kai. And it’s killing me because I know you don’t love me back.”

Her confession hung in the air between them, a raw and painful truth laid bare. Kai stood there, stunned, as Xiuying’s words echoed in his mind. She felt a hot tear slide down her cheek, and she couldn’t bear to see his reaction.

Without another word, she turned and fled, her vision blurred by tears. She ran until she found herself outside, the cool night air hitting her face. She sank to the ground, sobs wracking her body. The weight of her unrequited love was crushing, and now that it was out in the open, she felt exposed and vulnerable.

Back inside, Kai was left grappling with the revelation. He had never considered that Xiuying’s feelings for him ran so deep. Her pain was palpable, and he felt a pang of guilt for being so oblivious. He wanted to go after her, to make things right, but he didn’t know where to start.

Setting: London, 2024 (normally i write beyblade fics as if its the early 2000?? does this information matter, probably not?? but anyway lets just imagine for the sake of this fic that g-rev ended in 2023)

Blurb: Influencers? At the 4th world championships? Kai tries to turn over a new leaf - a rather difficult task to achieve when the most annoying people that he has ever had the displeasure of meeting (and considering he knows Tyson, thats saying something) and they can't seem to resist plastering his personal life all over their social media feeds. To Kai's surprise however, he finds that one is not like the others. KaixOC and general beyblade shenanigans.

Other pairings: Tala X Julia / Tyson X Hilary. There are others but they're just briefly mentioned. Oh and bryan fucks anything that moves, of course.

4. Who loses their keys/wallet?

Crystal. She's not used to having much that actually belongs to her so it's real easy for her to forget them if she's going to school or hanging out with her friends. Basically almost every time she leaves Tyson's place she'll immediately have to turn back around for it.

5. Who’s better with money?

Kai for sure. He's used to having it and he's pretty frugal. That's not to say he won't occasionally spend on something expensive but that's usually only when he absolutely needs it. Crystal, by comparison, never had much money to begin with and after she was banished from the White Tiger Village and living on her own on the streets, she turned to theft to survive. Even when she's in a better place she's not that great with money; it tends to flow from her hand the near minute she gets it. She has a big sweet tooth and any time a treat crosses her path she'll want it then and there.

6. Who tried to hide the relationship from their parents?

Crystal's parents are dead so Kai did by default. He's not used to the idea of wanting to spend time with someone let alone having romantic feelings for someone and he doesn't want anything to tarnish it. He's not actively hiding it from them but he's also not willingly divulging information. He doesn't want to know their opinions because, to him, they don't matter since they're not the one in the relationship, he is. It's his. it's one of the few things he has control over and he won't let outside comments influence it. He keeps his parents at arm's length for a reason.

7. Who’s better in the kitchen?

Crystal is. Not that Kai doesn't try; he can cook enough to feed himself and for fuel but that's as far as that goes. It's not something he finds entirely important past needing food to keep surviving. Crystal, however, loves throwing ingredients together and coming out with something mouthwatering and satiating and savory. (Don't ever ask her to bake; it always ends in disaster, no matter how much she tries.) Taking the time to pick out the right ingredients, measuring, cutting, chopping, sauteing, and creating the final plate to present to people she cares about is like putting her heart on a plate. She likes the hospitality and community that comes along with it.

13. What is their love language?

As much as Kai would rather die than admit it, his is words of affirmation. He is so hard on himself and, because of his harsh upbringing, he isolates himself a lot and beats himself up when he doesn't meet his own expectations. But when his friends tell him how much they need him, how they rely on him, how they like having him around, even when the moments are few, it means a lot to him. When Crystal says it to him with a big, genuine smile? He could spontaneously combust.

Crystal's is physical touch. And yeah, being with Kai, she doesn't get what one would considering a "typical" amount of physical affection. That just means when he decides to hold her hand, hug her, cuddle, or kiss her it's that special. Coming in just behind it is words of affirmation. Growing up in the White Tiger Village where they make it known when there's a "favorite" (cough cough Ray), she felt she had to fight for attention or recognition. When Kai very plainly and bluntly voices his appreciation or his recognition of her hard work and successes, she'll remember it forever.

First up my beloveeeed Tyson, aka son of Zeus. Being the son of the King of Gods of course he's blessed with a lot of abilities, but his control over the winds and lightning is the most powerful tool under his belt. He loses his mother when he's about 9 to mysterious circumstances which aren't clarified to him until much later. His stepfather at the time doesn't care for him much and sends him to a military school for problematic kids where he spends two years avoiding monsters until finally he runs away and makes it to Camp Half-Blood. It takes a few months for Zeus to claim him, till then he spends time at Cabin 11 (Hermes) where he makes fast friends with Charlie (OC). After he is claimed and assigned his first quest, he discovers during the quest that his mother just didn't die a mysterious natural death, but was murdered because of a plot instilled by Hera and then swears that he'll never answer to the goddess' call or prophecy (which proves almost fatal to him in the future as well). His sword-fighting skills are topnotch, thanks to his maternal grandfather a kendo specialist, who comes looking for him after he finishes a year at Camp Half-Blood and takes him in during the school year since then.

Hilary is the daughter of Athena and has been around at the camp the longest as her father her dropped her there when she turned 5 and didn't try to reconnect with her until she was much older. Despite many other kids being older than her, she's still the most sought-after for advice regarding quests because her strategic thinking is almost unparalleled within Cabin 6, however, she isn't allowed to join her first quest until Tyson rolls into the camp. She's sceptical of his presence because a child of the Big Three never not comes with problems but warms up to him eventually after they successfully complete a quest together. She understands his dislike towards Hera but tries to maintain a good relationship with the goddess herself, which eventually leads to them being dragged into a quest at the behest of Hera. This creates a big divide between her and Tyson, after the quest is over and the two go back for the school year, they don't keep in touch at all and don't speak to each other until the next summer. She's good with any kind of weapon, being the daughter of Athena, but prefers a bow and arrow.

Kai is the oldest camper and is the son of Ares. He's mostly quiet and barely noticeable around the camp until a battle comes by where you might hear his infamous scream that stops everyone in their tracks for a full minute helping him gain full control of the battlefield. He has very faint pyrokinetic abilities as well, but they only activate during stressful situations. Ares is also very open about claiming Kai as his favourite kid. His preferred weapon is a sword, and he's in charge of conducting the sword fighting lessons at the camp.He prefers to take solo quests despite Chiron's many attempts to team him up with other kids, and his first quest as a team is with Tyson (Tyson's 3rd Quest) when they're prepping to infiltrate a monster army base led by the Titans, but the two often butt heads and end up half failing the mission, leading a handful of monsters back to the camp which turns the whole camp into a warzone when they're not prepared for it. The only thing the two agree on is their dislike for Hera and the need to smash monsters into dust.

Now I thought a lot about Max but finally decided to make him a son of Apollo instead of Poseidon because he matches up so well with Will Solace in terms of personality and because with the stupidity/rashness levels of Tyson & Kai, they need a healer in the group. Apart from being one of the strongest Healers from Cabin 7, Max is also a talented archer and singer, and the most popular boy in Camp Half-Blood. Apollo is very openly proud of him and gifts him a magical quiver that never runs out of arrows after he completes his first-ever quest with Tyson and Hilary.

Charlie (OC) is the daughter of Hermes and usually prefers to sit out quests. She claims she's more interested in helping around at the Camp rather than monster fighting, but the truth is that after losing her sister (from her mortal parent) while making her way to Camp Half-Blood, she's just afraid that she's not strong enough to protect anyone else. The Oracle however picks her as the lead for a quest that requires stealing back important magical items from the Titan's monster army and through that quest Charlie is finally able to get over her fear of questing. She's friends with almost every Cabin and is usually the mastermind behind every major prank that happens at the Camp. She's a Capture the Flag expert and every year she makes other Cabins bid for Cabin 11's support using camp chores as leverage.

Rei arrives at the camp very late, and although his mother, Nemesis claims him instantly, since there is no cabin at the time for minor gods, he bunks at Cabin 11. He prefers not to divulge any information about his life outside of Camp Half-Blood which makes everyone at the camp naturally more curious towards him. He has his mother's blessing of perpetual good luck which makes him the most sought out companion for quests. Despite his cool demeanour and usually balanced outlook on life, Tyson notices that Rei doesn't really enjoy being bunkmates with Cabin 11 and at first, Tyson's protests for getting a Cabin in Nemesis's name aren't heard so he invites Rei to sleep at Cabin 1 which is obviously empty apart from Tyson. This doesn't sit well with anyone, but especially not with Hilary since it's breaking a major rule and tradition, and only sours things further between her and Tyson. Rei is grateful however for having more space for himself and he mentions this to Nemesis during one of his offerings, which ends up making the Goddess fond of Tyson as well so she always tries to make sure good luck is on his side. His preferred choice of a weapon is a dagger, though he does well with a sword as well.

[I don't think I need to spell out the ships since they're obvious but uh TyHil, KaixOc and ReiMax are endgame though there is a bit of drama involved with Mao and Mathilda (Aphrodite's daughters) in the middle.]

Lucy se encontraba en el corredor que llevaba al vestidor asignado al equipo ruso.

Esperaba ansiosa a que Jazzman terminara de dar el anuncio final, y los equipos se retirasen a sus habitaciones. Quería sorprender a Kai, y quizás, con algo de suerte, podría pasar el resto de la tarde con él; eso si su capitán de equipo lo permitía.

Pues sabiendo como era Tala, era casi seguro que ya tuviera preparada una exhaustiva practica de entrenamiento para todos.

—¡il mio amore! —Escuchó decir detrás suyo. Esa voz era realmente inconfundible.

—¡Hola Enrique! —lo saludo, manteniendo un tono sereno.

—Buuu, tan seria como siempre —dijo con desilusión el italiano.

—Ajaja, prefiero no darte la impresión incorrecta. Debería decir que me sorprende que estés aquí, pero supongo que los Majestic también fueron invitados a la fiesta que dará la BBA.

—Hai ragione mi bella dama —confirmó Enrique, tomándola de las manos—. Y hablando de la fiesta. Espero me concedas el honor de bailar conmigo.

—Mmm, no sé si eso sea una buena idea —repuso Lucy, intentando soltarse de su agarre, de forma sutil.  

—¡Oh vamos! Estoy casi seguro de que Kai ni siquiera ira a la fiesta, por estar entrenando —replicó—. Además…, será una pena que no luzcas el hermoso vestido que te diseño tu tía para esta ocasión tan especial.

Y antes de que Lucy pudiera decirle algo; un par de brazos rodearon su cintura, tomándola por sorpresa y haciendo que se sonrojara, pues sabía bien de quien se trataba.

—Para tu información, ya tenía planeado asistir a la fiesta —informó molesto el recién llegado Kai. Le fastidiaba muchísimo la confianza que el italiano se tomaba con Lucy—. Bajo ninguna circunstancia me perdería la oportunidad de ver a “mi novia” luciendo tan hermosa y elegante—afirmó dedicándole una mirada asesina a Enrique.

La cabeza de Lucy daba vueltas, había querido sorprender a Kai, pero ella había terminado siendo la sorprendida.

She was waiting anxiously for Jazzman to finish making the final announcement, and the teams to retire to their rooms. She wanted to surprise Kai, and maybe, hopefully, she could spend the rest of the afternoon with him; that's if her team captain allowed it.

Well knowing what Tala was like, she was almost certain that she already had an exhaustive training practice prepared for everyone.

"My love!" She - she heard her say behind him. That voice was truly unmistakable.

-Hello, Enrique! She greeted him, keeping her tone cool.

"Buuu, as serious as ever," said the Italian disappointed.

"Ahaha, I'd rather not give you the wrong impression." I should say I'm surprised you're here, but I guess the Majestic were also invited to the BBA party.

"Hai ragione my fair lady," Enrique confirmed, taking her by the hands. And speaking of the party. I hope you grant me the honor of dancing with me.

"Hmm, I don't know if that's a good idea," Lucy said, trying to loosen her grip, subtly.

-Oh, come on! I'm pretty sure Kai won't even go to the party, as she's training, ”he replied. Also ... it will be a shame if you don't wear the beautiful dress that your aunt designed for this special occasion.

And before Lucy could tell him anything; a pair of arms encircled her waist, taking her by surprise and making her blush, for she knew well who she was.

"For your information, I had already planned to attend the party," the newcomer Kai reported annoyed. The Italian's confidence in Lucy annoyed him terribly. Under no circumstances would I miss the opportunity to see "my girlfriend" looking so beautiful and elegant, "she affirmed, giving Enrique a murderous look.

Lucy's head was spinning, she had wanted to surprise Kai, but she had ended up being the one surprised.

Thank you for asked me, @starriddler. Now I respond you. I'm sorry for the late and it's very long:

💤 Do they fall asleep easily? what helps them sleep?

Isolde doesn't asleep easily since was a child. She usually helps herself to sleep with a plushie (in her childhood and early adolescence). She has a jaguar plushie, a gift from her grandparents when Isa chose to go Hogwarts.

In sixth year after the Rowan's Death, she needed to drink some nights a potion for dreamless sleep (and drunk sometimes draught of peace, too). Nobody knew it (neither Talbott, until she confessed him in seventh year). She didn't have a good medical monitoring (I have the headcanon the mental care was underestimated by healers like in our medicine -muggle- in 80's and 90's. And Madame Pomfrey was petrified, who was the only person could help her). She was ashamed if someone knew about her depression and anxiety, trying to hide them and left the potions abruptly.

In add, she used the silencing charm over her, because she sometimes talks in her sleep. In special, when she has nightmares about the Curse Vaults or R or her Blood-Curse.

She left to do all of them when she started to go psychological therapy (with a muggle, MD. Natalia Blackwood, psychiatrist) and correct medical monitoring. She can sleep better actually, but sometimes she talk in her sleep, (and Talbott sometimes teases her when she says meaningless things if he can hear her).

🎂BIRTHDAY CAKE - when is their birthday? do they like celebrating it?

Her birthday is in March 4th. Actually she likes to celebrate with Talbott, some of their closest friends and their children. But not always was in this way.

I wrote in spanish (sorry) an one-shot about this topic (Cumpleaños) When she was a child, in many times her mother made a party with important politicians of MACUSA and Amanda invited them with their children, usually in her Pent-House in NY. Isolde's cousins were here, too, but they're older than her (they're the same age like Jacob) and the other kids didn't like her and Isolde didn't like them. Every year this day she pretended to be the "perfect girl", a doll who her mother dressed, said how act in front of the people, try to pleasure her mother. She usually was boring in this events and she can't felt to be herself.

When Isa was eight and half years old, she lived two years and half with her grandparents in Mexico, because her mother prefered her job in Mexico City (she was MACUSA's ambassador) and don't want distractions (Amanda was devastated for Jacob's disappearance, the scandal thanks to Rita Skeeter and obligated her left her job in UK). With them, she discovered she would like to celebrate, because for first time she felt loved in this day and Isolde could be herself with her paternal grandparents.

When she went to Hogwarts, she hid when was her birthday for fear someone try to hurt her in this day. Rowan discovered when Isolde received a birthday card from her mother and a gift from her grandparents in their First year. Talbott, only knew for a divination homework about their astrological cards and gifted her a bouquet of dahlias and a small box of chocolate frogs in their Fourth year. The Weasley siblings when they were studying together in the library when she was in her third year. The rest of her friends only in their Seventh year.

🍧SHAVED ICE - do they still have any objects from their childhood? what significance does it have to them? what would their reaction be if they lost it?

Yes, she still has some plushies (she's fan of them), photos about her family (she was nostalgic about the time she lived with Jacob, Amanda and Tadao -her dad-, before they lost her father), a hand bracelet from her granny (it's the most important and I talk about how she feel if she lost here).

🌙MOON - what is your oc's greatest wish? how far are they willing to go for it?

I use this question like the Mirror of Erised to express this point. And like others, depend her age what she see in it:

When she was child, after she lost her father, until her third year in Hogwarts, her wish was be the perfect girl then her mother wished, Amanda demonstrate love and care for her and be proud for Isolde. It's the reason she was perfectionist, always pretended to be happy with a "fake smile", working hard, have good grades, tried to be neat and well dressed. But Amanda always was disappointed of Isa, in special when Hiwatari involved with the Curse Vaults.

Until in the end of fifth year, her wish was be happy, with her brother founded, and with Rowan and Talbott (be closest friend of him in third/like his girlfriend in fourth and with a good relationship) in her side.

In sixth, after Rowan's Death, her boyfriend, her brother and friends save and sound; R disbanded; Rakepick captured (with torture signs) or dead. It was the first time she wished the death for someone or murder this person. With Rakepick only tortured with fire her, and Jacob stopped his sister at time to avoid Isa assassinated her former teacher.

In Seventh, she wished run away from Amanda, don't be her doll anymore, and she did. She was free of her, left her mother in USA, moved in with her grandparents for a month. She must return Hogwarts, because R was active, yet. The mole was in the School. Her wish was everyone she loved was safe and sound, even of her, (She had a blood-curse that could take the life of them), with R disbanded and her blood-curse eliminated or she was dead if this curse can't be destroyed and she was tired to be the "Heroine of Hogwarts". Until her argument with Talbott (here, sorry in spanish only), she found a new wish: cares herself and has a good self-esteem before to be the heroine and stop R. With Talbott's help (and after, all the Circle of Khanna), they defeated R finally. Isolde continues with therapy a few years more. In this point she wish to be auror than healer and she moved in with Talbott when they graduated.

In her auror's training years, she wish to finish them to be auror and developed her relationship with Talbott. And they got married in 1995, a year after they was worked in the Ministry of Magic.

When the Second Magical War started, she wished she and Talbott would be alive in the end of this conflict (and after she wish for Kai and Aneshka, both the youngest Hiwatari), Voldemort died, her blood-curse eliminated, and had the hope she could reunited with her brother once time and repair their relation (they fought between them because Isolde wanted finish the curse; Jacob wanted the power). But never happened the last point.

When Talbott and Isolde have a more stable life (economy, health, a good jobs, time, etc.), they wished have their kids. In 2006 their son born; and their daughter, in 2010 (They have names, but it's probably I'll change in a future, depending the Canon's game).

💧DROPLET - random angst headcanon:

Well, I wrote many here, but well, about Tadao Hiwatari Olivares death:

I said in another publish here, but Tadao was kidnapped by Death Eaters. It wasn't random, I'm afraid. Isolde's father was a Curse-Breaker, the best in Mayan area and the reason Gringotts hired him to work to them. He discovered many things about the Sacred Four Beast, in special Suzaku (who is responsible of the Hiwatari's curse). Voldemort was searched for those spirits, because a Japanese Legend said who takes all of them, this person have the absolute power. Voldemort tried to took them a few of years before, but he couldn't.

Tadao investigated them with an Unspeakable, Alphard Aaron Black (someday I'll talk about him. He's Aneshka and Aaron's father), thinking they could break his family's curse and his children hadn't it anymore. But Riddle knew they work, and in September 1st 1978, when he and Isolde accompanied Jacob to go to King Cross. Bellatrix Lestrange was the leader in this mission with two Death Eaters. Tadao could defeat the Bella's supports, but not her. Jacob ran away with Isolde with a portkey to MACUSA's embassy.

Two long months without any news about Tadao. Jacob returned to Hogwarts, even he wanted stay with his mother and sister to protect them. Amanda rejoined her work, leaving Isolde alone with Shima. (I wrote a little here). Tadao was tortured in all this time, but he didn't say anything about his searching. He lost his mind and in november 14th was killed by Voldemort. His corpse was found two days after.

The Unspeakable, by the way, was killed in March 8th 1980, but Voldemort could not take any from him, neither. He hid his information with help of his wife and his brother-in-law (Kai's father).

💚 GREEN HEART - what things make your oc feel comforted? hugs, kisses, food?

Isolde feel comforted with all of them, but the hugs and kisses by people she loves (Talbott, Rowan, Charlie, Bill and her grandparents. Later her kids). The food it's the form she could demonstrate how you're important for her. She likes cook but not everyone, only her family and closest friends.
