I fucking love this moment 🤣🤣🤣
I imagine when Max ran to Kai to tell him what happened Kai was probably like: "For fucks sake, I have to save them AGAIN!?"
Good boy Max. Ya did good, kiddo.

everything is fine : )
As soon as I had the thought, doing that meme with Kai and his fire chicken seemed kinda obvious to me?
Had a lot of fun with the coloring. I keep swapping art styles, but not sticking to one style makes me feel free art wise at least :>

Have this bored, pouty-faced Kai.
But don't forget, his stalker-fanboy is in that window across from him, starring at him.
It's also worth noting that Kai got his eyebrows threaded for this season. They on fleek.

some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.

*Raises Hand* I have a question-
Actually I have several, buuuuuuuut.
First: Kai has just been made aware that he was a pawn in his Grandfather's quest for world domination. He is coming to terms with the fact that he has been manipulated his entire life and that none of his choices were his own. Poor guy is probably having a hella identity crisis right now. Then Daitenji barges in the hotel to explain that he built the BBA to use them to defeat the Russians.
Don't you think Kai would have been put off by this, knowing that he was once again being used for the gain of another? Granted it's for a better cause, but the choice wasn't his.
My second question: Wouldn't it have been risky as FUCK for Daitenji to have Kai on the team in the first place!? Like, what if this kid was too far gone and this all backfired horribly? He was definitely putting a lot of faith in the idea that Kai could be completely deprogrammed by some kids he didn't even know.
Which comes back around to Kai still being a pawn, because it's like "Haha, check this out Souichirou, I've got your grandson. What you gonna do about it?"
Am I overthinking this? Also... Volkov..... you fucking moron. You're an internationally wanted criminal. Don't tell a total stranger your evil plan 😩.
It's a miracle he didn't get caught years ago.

Food for thought: In episode 7 the town shows up for Takao's match against Kai with food and throws him a surprise banquet (birthday party in English). Despite what an asshole Kai has been to him up until this point, Takao still tries to include him in the party but Kai shrugs him off and walks out. On a first watch this just seems like Kai being a petty, spiteful dick. On a re-watch I find myself wondering if this might have more to do with Kai feeling jealous and distrustful because the people in his life have never been kind to him.
Am I reaching, or were the writers on this show actually really good?
Edit: As I'm watching the English dub they add a line here for Kai as he walks away where he says "Enjoy your party". Again, I'm probably reaching because this English dub does not take things seriously, but the way David Reale reads the line makes Kai sound envious and/or hurt. 2nd Edit: Kai has a line in the English dub when he beats Tyson in the second round about how this would make his grandfather proud and it clicked in my brain that, in the previous scene we were discussing, Kai saw the pride and kindness from Takao's Grandfather while his own douche-monkey of a Grandfather uses him as nothing more than a pawn for his own gain. Obviously he was jealous in that moment. Yeah. The writers knew what they were doing. I'm not reaching, this was intentional. Sometimes my dumb brain just needs shit spelled out for me. ***
P.S: I have started reading the manga and it's a mess from a basic storytelling standpoint. I don't know if that's because the translation was lazy (there have been a LOT of errors in the first volume alone) or if Takao Aoki just wasn't an experienced writer at this point (don't fucking come for me).
The characterization in the Anime is FAR Superior imo.

I've seen this screen shot with the caption of "when you're an anime protagonist" or something like that but it's more like "When you're the rich kid and can afford a nose"
I guess noses weren't in the animation budget for this shot?

Around two years ago I stumbled right into my beyblade hyperfocus and this is one of the first sketches I did then. I was reading Omniscient, a (very good) fanfiction by @itsbeen20years . I don‘t know how accurate it is to a specific scene, so I wouldn‘t call it a fanart, but the story definitely inspired me to draw beyblade / YuKa related stuff. I still like the sketch, so may it be free now. Why am I so shy with showing my art ahh
