Osaatko sanoa miksei musikaalien suomenkielisiä versioita oikein levytetä tai laiteta mihinkään saataville. Onko kyse tekijänoikeuksista vaiko vaan rahasta. Harmittaa vaan kun on niin monia hyviä musikaaleja, mutta kun niitä ei enää esitetä, ei lauluja voi suomeksi kuulla mistään.

En (suureksi harmikseni!) ole koskaan ollut kärpäsenä katossa, kun teattereissa tehdään sopimuksia ja keskustellaan näistä asioista, mutta valistuneen arvauksen osaan antaa: kyse on ennen kaikkea rahasta, mutta myös laajemmin siitä, etteivät suomalaiset teatterit näe musiikin äänittämisestä olevan hyötyä omalle toiminnalleen.

Nykypäivän musiikkibisneksessä, jota dominoivat minimaalisen pienet Spotify-korvaukset ja vastaavat, musiikin julkaiseminen ei lähtökohtaisesti ole kovin tuottoisaa hommaa. Vielä pienemmät tuotto-odotukset voidaan laskea pienelle kohderyhmälle, kuten musikaalifaneille, tehdyille levytyksille. Tekijänoikeudet tuskin muodostuisivat ongelmaksi, jos Suomessa haluttaisiin tehdä jostain ulkomaisesta musikaalista levytys... mutta eihän kukaan halua, sillä äänitteen tekeminen maksaisi enemmän kuin Spotifysta koskaan saataisiin pennosia takaisin.

Toisin on Broadwaylla, jossa melkein kaikista uusista musikaaleista tulee vielä nykyäänkin levy – sillä vaikka kyse ei olekaan mainstream-musiikista, englanninkielisen musikaalimusiikin kohderyhmä on sentään maailmanlaajuinen. Fanien lisäksi levytysten kautta Broadway-musikaaleihin voivat tutustua a) potentiaaliset katsojat ja b) taiteilijat ja teatterit ympäri maailman, ja näiden tutustuttaminen teoksiin saattaa parhaimmillaan johtaa sekä Broadwaylle suuntautuvaan turismiin että uusiin kv-tuotantoihin ja niistä saataviin rojalteihin. Broadway-musikaalilevytykset ovat siis sekä tuote itsessään että markkinoinnin väline.

Suomi on kielialueena pieni ja musikaalien esityskaudet ovat lyhyitä, joten voidaan sulkea pois se, että levytyksistä olisi täällä vastaavaa hyötyä markkinoinnin kannalta. Uusien kotimaisten musikaalien musiikin julkaiseminen olisi kuitenkin kulttuuriteko ihan itsessään, ja joskus niistä saadaankin pari biisiä (esim. Wasa Teater on julkaissut muutamia Vänd om min längtan -musikaalin kappaleita Spotifyssa) tai jopa kokonainen levytys (esim. Tampereen Työväen Teatterin Hamlet ja Tytöt 1918). Tällaisiakaan levytyksiä ei kuitenkaan tehdä usein, mikä johtunee jälleen rahasta tai pikemmin sen puutteesta. Mielestäni on huomionarvoista, että uusien musikaaliensa levyttämisessä kunnostautunut TTT saa suurempaa valtiontukea kuin suurin osa muista suomalaisista teattereista.

Lisäksi tähän aihepiiriin liittyen väitän, ihan puhtaasti omien havaintojeni pohjalta, että keskimäärin katsoen suomalaisista teattereista puuttuvat sekä resurssit että osaaminen musiikin hyödyntämiseen markkinoinnissa. Ei ole rahaa eikä aikaa, ei ole osaavia tekijöitä markkinointitiimeissä – eikä varsinkaan ole uskoa, että musiikista voisi musikaalien markkinoinnissa olla hyötyä, ainakaan sen pidemmästä äänitteestä kuin lyhyeen videotraileriin ja/tai radiomainokseen sopivasta pikku pätkästä. Meillä ei ole myöskään samanlaista television ja teatterien välistä symbioottista markkinointikulttuuria kuin naapurimaassamme Ruotsissa, jossa isoimmissa tuotannoissa mukana olevat musikaaliesiintyjät käyvät säännöllisesti aamutelkkarissa ja Allsång på Skansenilla promoamassa itseään ja teoksiaan ja laulaa luikauttavat siinä yhteydessä jonkin musikaalin kappaleista. Meillä vastaaville promovetäisyille ei ilmeisesti ole sen enempää kysyntää kuin tarjontaakaan.

Tulipa pitkä vastaus, ja nuo viimeiset havainnot vieläpä menivät ohi alkuperäisestä kysymyksestäsi... mutta ajattelin kuitenkin nostaa nekin tässä esille, kun olen aihepiiriä itsekin pohtinut. On tosiaan sääli, miten vähän materiaalia suomalaisista musikaalituotannoista jää jäljelle sen jälkeen, kun esityskaudet päättyvät!

I joined a martial art class.The master is only take a limited amount of student, tho many want to join his class, he only take the one he want.

The first day I go to learning MA, It is in a large yard of a pagoda. There’s a small path to officially get there. I heard about another path but didn’t know where it is. First day end peacefully.

On the next day, I was with X[idk, maybe not real person]. I was in a house (maybe, not remember much this part) and we talk (maybe). She is short, small, wearing nun clothes). She gave me a ride as we also go to the class (as she’s a nun of the pagoda). We passed by house of Mr Tho (which is a real neighbor of me, the after to the next house of mine). And she (X) suddently stop. We saw mrs. Tho crying and then she wen right to the house, lectured mr Tho.

I somehow linked us to another friend, CarrotMun (a real friend of mine), kinda we used to go with each other (but X is not real, this is a false memory i guess). We keep going to the class, but leading us is KV-Kun. We take another path, the one I only heard of but haven’t used, yet. After locking our bike, I KV-Kun  climb out a 2 short wall (about 0.5m)  I follow then the nun (x) but she’s kionda have a hard time figuring out how to climb through. I, standing on the walls, point her the easiest way, that she not even need to climb, but step on it. We join the class. it’s about 30 members. I suddently noticed that D is also there. I asked her how you got here? She answers I just want to (with her tinkling voice and attitude). The master said that she reach me directly and I can’t reject it. He really mean he do reject her but she did take over the conversation of them. F was there too. IDK if she have any uncomfortable feeling.

We sahed into lines, there are 2, then 3, first 2 but we can aware of the line was too long and some of us decided ourself to move to the 3rd line. F is on 1st line a little left side, D is in middle of 2nd line. I was in about end of 3rd line, next to my friend CDelex. i dont remember X and KV-Kun where. But after a time, we have to sit down and hear the master. Lines corrupted and some(fackin) way, I sat right next to D. A 2nd time, i thoug of F if she have any uncomfortable feeling.

Skip time, we got home. It is 1 p.m. F was lying next to me, we talked about group online meeting occured in 2:30. Suddently, D and KV-Kun entered the room. 3rd time I guess, wondering the same question, i she have any hard feeling? D is going to fly home at 3p.m. as scheduled. The weather turning bad, lightning strike, the day turning dark, raining start. F was planning going home before the meeting time, but it seems not possible right now. F leave the room to prepare the meeting. Somehow it ended up like, I was lying there, KV-Kun is sitting about 0.5m next to. D’s headit liying on KV-Kun and legs is lying on mine.

She said she also have to go by now, the schedule is taking sooner 1 hour somehow. She move her leg away. And back... and away...just as soon as I noticed, “Horny” - she said.

How do you choose your titles: Depends entirely on the tone of the fic- crack tends to get cracky titles, kv stories get named after disney songs, Melodrama like contest fics get those names with parentheses, and everything else i try to just think of something distinctive and as simple as possible

Do you outline?: Rarely. Only on the super long fics like MoL and Handpicked. this is bad for me, and i should try to improve. I do not.

Hey, you know a lot about cows and animal welfare, right? Well, I've got a question. I just read an article (Danish) at DR about Anima & Arla, and that Anima wants to know how Arla treats their animals. That includes wanting to film the separation between a cow and her calf & their reaction for a few days. Idk. Something about the way Anima paints it (as quite 'demonic') makes me angry at Anima, but I don't know enough about anything to know why. Do you have time to read the article & clarify?:)

Arla actually responded already! But as far as I’ve seen it’s only been published in an agricultural newspaper so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯The dialogue down in the article is ridiculous [Here’s a link]. I’m gonna make a longer response, though, since Arla’s response mainly focuses on Anima’s juvenile tactics (which, yeah, no, I honestly don’t think Arla is someone to speak here, considering their childish [anti-mylk campaign] earlier this year). It’s basically a kindergarten slap-fight between milk producers and animal rights activists.

Anima is a Danish animal rights group, to those who don’t know. On the level of extremity they’re somewhere between HSUS and PETA, but their ultimate end goal is the same - global veganism. On one hand most of what they say can be easily refuted if you’re in the know, but on the other, the majority of people aren’t in the know. They’re frustrating to deal with they banned me from their facebook page after i questioned a video they made about coyote trapping. But enough rambling, [here’s the article]. It’s in Danish, so apologies to anyone else reading this, I’ll do my best to translate the important parts and add the original quotes at the bottom of the page. Also, I’ve been working on a project about hip dysplasia all day, so if my citations suddenly look kinda professional, that’s why, lol.

Anima’s chief of communication, Thorbjørn Schiønning, starts off by saying that “Nowadays we have a milk production that is extremely industrial, where the animals are pushed to the limit to milk every last drop from the cow.”[1]

It’s not a wrong statement, it’s just very emotionally charged and thus a bit misleading. Milk production is very industrial because it’s an industry and cows are (by breeding, not by mistreatment) being pushed to their biological limit in how much milk they can produce. Schiønning doesn’t explain why this is a bad thing, though, and I assume that he expects the scary words (”industrial” “pushed to the limit” “every last drop”) to be enough to get people hooked. Knowing the general public, I’m afraid that assumption is right.

He continues: “When a cow is born, it’s separated from it’s mother after just 12 hours and put in isolation where it’s fed milk replacer. It’s done simply to get as much milk as possible out to the consumers, so they can produce as much milk for as cheap as possible.”[2]

What he’s saying here is just a repeat of the usual anti-animal-ag misinformation. To start off, a newborn is a calf. A cow is a grown female who has calved at least once. Semantics, but it’s a pet peeve.

Unfortunately, the thing about having to wait 12 hours before separation is true in Denmark. According to our law, conventional calves must stay with their dams for 12 hours and organic calves 24 hours (something Schiønning left out, presumably because the public assumes that more time together equals better welfare). Contrary to popular belief, studies have shown that the longer you wait before separation, the more stressful it is for both cow and calf and that the quicker the separation, the less stress both parties experience[3].

The reasons why cows and calves are separated in the first place is that, for starters, dairy cows are really bad mothers that will very often ignore the calf, accidentally step on it, or (rarely) outright attack it[4]. They just have very lacking maternal instincts. Putting calves in isolation likely isn’t the optimal solution, but it’s the best method we’ve developed to limit disease, ensure survival[5] and make sure they get enough colustrum within their first few hours.

Colostrum (’råmælk’) is the milk a cow produces the first few milkings after calving, which is full of antibodies. The calf’s ability to absorb antibodies stops after roughly 24 hours and it can’t produce its own until it’s about 3-4 weeks old, so this is a vital process. Even on farms that house calves and cows together and let the calves suckle, it’s highly recommended that the calf is bottle-fed about 3-4 liters of colostrum (depending on the breed’s size).

Which leads me to the next point that, no, calves are generally not fed milk replacer. While it is slightly cheaper than milk (because milk replacement producers track the market religiously to make sure their replacer is just a tad cheaper), it’s also impractical. Milk replacer often has a higher content of dangerous microbes, and because it’s not pasteurized, there’s a higher risk of it being contaminated. In Denmark Calves are most often fed pasteurized colostrum or whole milk (’sødmælk’)[6]. Even so, I fail to see how feeding a clean and well-balanced milk replacer is supposed to be a bad thing.

Calves are not separated so the farmer can get more milk out of the cow, as I explained above. In fact, cows produce up to 20% more milk when they’re kept with their calves because the frequent suckling stimulates milk production [7]. So since farmers are just feeding them milk from their own cows anyways, they actually have a monetary incentive to keep the two together. It’s purely for health and survival that they’re separated.

There’s one more thing I want to address. “Anima wants to be allowed to see how a worn out milking cow gets sent to slaughter 20 years before it’s natural death.”[8] It’s very difficult to find any scientific reports of the natural lifespan of cattle. Most animal rights sources cite 20-25 years, but most animal welfare sources cite 10-15, so it depends on which site of this debate you want to believe. Diary cows in Denmark are usually sent to the slaughterhouse when they’re around 5 years old because their fertility drops and they become more susceptible to disease right around this time[9].

Kirjoituksessa pohdin Paytrailin kokoamaa Verkkokaupan trendit julkaisua 2018, jossa haastatellaan suomalaisia verkkokaupan asiantuntijoita.

Kuluttajakäyttäytymisen muutos.                                                Kuluttajakäyttäytymisen muutos on väistämätön, mikäli mietimme tulevien ostajien käyttäytymistä. Sukupolvi, joka on kasvanut nykyaikaisessa digitaalisessa yhteiskunnassa on nopealiikkeinen. Mobiili on tälle sukupolvelle arkipäivää. Nopealiikkeisellä tarkoitan sitä, että ihmiset ovat tottuneet saamaan haluamansa nopeasti, eikä vastausten saamista tarvitse odottaa kauaa. Verkkokaupan kannalta asiakkaiden nopealiikkeisuus on verkkokaupalle sekä mahdollisuus että riski. Mikäli asiakaan mielipiteet muodostuvat nopeasti muutamasta yksityiskohdasta, voidaan helposti menettää monia asiakkaita ärsytyskynnyksen takia, joka on matala. Haasteena on pitää asiakkaat tyytyväisinä. Heille on tarjottava juuri sitä mihin ovat tottuneet. Videot, streamit, vlogit ja muut vastaavat elementit ovat oltava ajan tasalla laadukkaassa muodossa. Toisaalta kun nopealiikkeinen sukupolvi vähentää fyysistä shoppailua kivijalkamyymälöissä, on verkkokaupoilla erittäin hyvä mahdollisuus tavoittaa potentiaaliset asiakkaat sieltä kotisohvilla.

Asiakaskokemuksesta kilpailuetu.

Kun nopeus, valikoima ja laatu korostuvat nykypäivän verkkokaupassa, suureen rooliin astuu myös asiakaskokemus. Yrittjät/yritykset eivät pysy enää kilpailussa mukana, mikäli huolehditaan vain itse ostotapahtumasta. Ostotapahtuman ympärille on tuotava personoitu ja huomioon ottava asiakaskokemus. Kuluttajakäyttäytymisen muutoksen myötä asiakas haluaaelämyksiä ja yhteenkuuluvuutta.

Asiakas on saatava sitoutumaan erilaisilla kokemuksilla ja tunteilla, sekä annettava tunne, että tämä tarjonta on juuri hänelle.

Yrityksen joka haluaa pysyä kilpailussa ja saavuttaa kuluttajakäyttäytymisen muutokset on panostettava juuri asiakaskokemukseen tänä päivänä. Haasteet löytyvät tietenkin investoinnista ja ajasta. Kuinka paljon aikaa perinteinen verkkokauppa on valmis käyttämään interaktiivisuuteen. Chat palvelut, standit, pop up pisteet ja läsnäolo ovat aikaa ja resursseja vieviä asioita. Kaikkien näiden yllämainittujen asioiden lähtökohtana on se, että saadaan asiakkaan ja myyjän välille side. Ongelmana ei ole siteen luominen vaan siihen käytettävä aika ja resurssit.

Suomalaiset verkkokaupat kansainvälistyvät.

Hinnalla emme kilpaile. Näin on todettava suurten markinajättejen edessä. Yksilöllisyys ja yhtenäisyyden tunne tulevat tässäkin esille. Suomalaisten on löydettävä omia vahvuuksia ja keskittää resurssit nice-tuotteiden tunnettavuuteen juuri sinne missä potentiaaliset kohderyhmät ovat. Työskentelen tällä hetkellä yhdessä maailman kansainvälisemmässä yrityksessä DHL:ssä, ja näen päivittäin sen, kuinka rohkeasti ja onnistuneesti Suomalaiset pk-yritykset onnistuvat kv-myynnissä. Onnistumisen haasteena on mielestäni ennen kaikkea laadulla erottuminen, sekä yksilöllisen tunteen tarjonta asiakkaalle. Suomalaiset yritykset eivät voi kilpailla volyymila, resursseilla tai hinnalla. On suunnattava laadukkaat nice-tuotteet oikeaan aikaan ja paikkaan. Lisäksi haasteena on oikean ja uskollisen kohderyhmän tavoittaminen, sekä logistiset palvelut. Kansainvälisessä kaupassa on tunnettava logistisen palvelun mahdollisuudet ja haasteet.
