2. Royal au48. Fake dating au

That’s an interesting combo and I love it.

Plot twist, Patton is a king, and he’s actually really good at being king, but he’s not really recognized as being king? Because he hasn’t married and it’s been three years since his coronation and the people are getting restless because 1. what if Patton dies? and 2. He needs an HEIR

Patton doesn’t really want to marry anyone of royal blood, because over the years before his parents stepped down so he could take the thrown (idc if that’s not how it works, Patton’s parents were tired okay) none of the other royal families he’s met has been particularly... nice.

So one day when he’s wandering the city streets while one of his dads (no I’m not including homophobia because this is an au and I Said So heir’s are definitely capable of being adopted) takes care of stuff back at the castle so Patton could have a break.

Of course, he’s dressed as far down as he could go, one of the servants he’s friends with giving him the simplest clothes he owns for a chance to spend the day with one of the royal advisors (honestly I should’ve expected the analogical to sneak in there) and Patton has his hair as messy as he could get it and he’s got a ratty robe over his shoulders.

This somehow helps despite his very obvious birthmark on his neck that’s been used to identify him before until a street performer rushing away from guards bumps into him, recognizes the mark and immediately pulls him into an alley.

Patton is flustered because now he’s in a dark alley with a stranger and while common sense says he should be scared the stranger is actually really handsome wow okay.

“Your majesty,” the stranger says and bows low in front of Patton.

Patton’s kinda used to all the fanfare being a king brings but he still flails his hands wildly and insists the stranger straighten up because they’re not in the castle right now so there’s really no need for that kiddo!

Handsome stranger introduces himself as Roman and they start talking princess and the pauper barbie movie style and Roman gives Patton a proposal.

“Pretend to court someone.”

And Patton is in awe of this idea because that sounds great! and he’s so excited and Roman is grinning because Patton is praising his genius and practically hanging on his arm in his excitement.

“Would you be up for that?” and now Roman is red faced and flustered but he’s not about to say no to the unexpectedly adorable king.
