Wish Upon a Star || 1

The day begun calm and collected, everyone had hopped off the plane about 5 hours ago, yet no one was able to find their hotel. “How big is this damned island? I just want to go home. It’s too hot” she asked A small but stern voice replied, “Evelyn, what have I told you? This weekend away is for your sister. Remember? She is getting married, not you. Now take you and your luggage and go ask a local for this hotel” Evelyns dad had replied with a direct voice. Evelyns skin burned under the smallest of temperatures, and it was 21 degrees where she was. Even the pink snapback couldn’t protect her pale skin. The sunrays in Rarotonga hit the nape of her neck. Evelyns dad passed her a printout of their schedule, if her dad had turned the paper over they would’ve found the map Evelyn printed out herself. She let out a sigh and walked 2km down the road from where they had been standing.

They arrived at the hotel and they all separated to their own little rooms. “This is cute” Evelyn exclaimed. Her partner looked Jean looked at her in disgust, Jean finished work 1 hour before they had to fly off because his work wouldn’t allow him to take that time off. Jean was a little mad. Evelyn wasn’t making things any better, they had only checked in and she was half naked wearing only her bikini top and black shorts from Kmart.

The afternoon has hit, and it is a lot cooler than before. She was talking to her friends on Twitter when Jean heard a knock at the door, “Hello?” he yelled out. “Jean, it’s dad”. “Evelyn it’s dad, can you finish up what you are doing please and help him” Jean yelled out. She came running out with a semi-smile on her face. “What’s up?” she said unlocking her door letting her dad in. Her dad stood at the door with a highlighter green short-sleeve on with ¾ khaki shorts on with a pair of Billabong sandals to finish his look. “We’re all going ahead, don’t be late. Jean are you coming with us? Or her?” Evelyns dad asked. Jean looked at him, biting his inner cheek rethinking the next words that would come out of his mouth. “You, dad” Jean grabbed his coat and practically ran out the door yelling, “Love you E”. Evelyn held the door open, waving at them as they went down the hallway, she had to think to herself, ‘did she actually know where this bar was?”. She was good with making her way around, she didn’t need help.

20 minutes had passed, and she was finally ready. She had her hair in a high pony tail exposing her shoulders. She was wearing a white lacey, off the shoulder dress with black heels. She didn’t usually wear makeup, only during special occasions, and tonight was to kick off the weekend for said special occasion. Her sister was getting married, she couldn’t believe it. She looked at herself through her phones front camera and thought, ‘2 more days until your sister’s big day. Hmm. I wonder when Jean will marry me? Am I marry-able? Is that a word? Pfft it is now’.

As she was checking herself out, she gets a message saying her ride had arrived to take her to the bar they all decided to go to 2 weeks before, she didn’t remember the name, she didn’t care too. She only knew where it was. Evelyn didn’t even remember her own hotel name or address. Again, she didn’t think she needed to because she would be in a group. Right?

She finally got there, it was only a 5-minute drive from her hotel, the driver took her around to some good local restaurants for the ‘killer hangover’ she would have the morning after.

She walked inside, her heels clicking on the wooden flooring inside the bar. The music vibrated the door, the music wasn’t what you recognised, “Spanish maybe?” she anxiously asked herself. Evelyn had never been out by herself before, she didn’t know what to anticipate. She stood confidently, pushed the heavy wooden door open with her right heel digging slowly into the flooring.

The door was open and the smell of sweat and alcohol flooded out. Her head turned back and forth, searching for anyone she knew, specifically the group of people she was supposedly meeting. “large window, next to the fire pit” she read aloud. Her eyes peered up to the empty tables placed against the large window and the firepit. Her heart sunk just a little, the confidence she once had disappeared along with her will to drink or dance the night away.

She slumped down on a faux leather barstool and tucked her feet under the metal poles. Nervously tapping away on the counter, the bartender approached Evelyn cautiously, “Anything for you tonight, love?” he said. Her face warmed up to his cheeky smile. “Just a Vodka and Redbull please” she quietly said, “coming right up” he said while promptly walking away prepping her drink.

Turning on her barstool, her eyes are caught by 2 guys sitting next to her whose faces are hidden behind the bar menu. They look at each other and giggle to themselves. The guy on the left who she named ‘Sean’, he sat right next to her, he was quiet, but he sounded like he knew a lot about drinks. His hair was like a minty green, he was wearing simple black turtle neck under a blue-black blazer, he paired it with black ripped skinny jeans; very stylish. The other guy was a little hard to see because he was so far away, Evelyn called him ‘Jack’ just like Leonardo DiCaprios character from Titanic. She could barely see what he was seeing, only a black hoodie that covered his face.

She swung back and forth sipping her cooled drink from her straw thinking about how the last hour could’ve been better if she had remembered the address to her hotel, so she could pretend like she didn’t go out. Evelyn repeated to herself, “Everything is fine”. But was it?

I want cute lacey/strappy nice bras. Not designs I'd find a nursing home woman (ask me how I know what they wear, I dare you).

The one above is a classic example. Solid colour. Badly shaped. No lift. It's probably a good around-the-house one but it's not going to stir any loins. Least of all my own.

Options from overseas are well into the $80+AU, which is just 😭

NEW YORK (AP) — Sears Holdings Corp. will be closing over 100 more stores as the struggling department store chain tries to turn around its business.

The Hoffman Estates, Illinois-based company says that includes 64 Kmart stores and 39 Sears stores that will be shuttered between early March and early April.

Liquidation sales will begin as soon as next Friday at the stores.

A Sears spokesman said Thursday the number of workers affected was not available. The majority of the jobs are part-time positions, Sears said.

The move comes in addition to closing about 250 stores announced last year.

Sears has been selling off some its real estate and brands as it tries to raise cash.

Earlier Thursday, Macy’s Inc. announced it was closing 11 stores early this year.
