WE CHOOSE LIFE
We Choose Life is a teaching about life, abortion and choices by Dave Sterrett. The short film features compelling stories from Lila Rose, Melissa Ohden, and Ramona Trevino. Go to www.wechooselife.info to hear more stories and to download the free curriculum guide for your small group.
From ‘Truthbomb Apologetics’
In 2016, I had the opportunity to review Dave Sterrett's wonderful book, We Choose Life. You can find my review here. The book includes 17 different essays written by various individuals of all walks of life. The list includes former abortion workers, individuals conceived through rape or incest, and men who confess to struggling with post-abortive guilt. Further, as an added bonus, the work features an appendix written by Life Training Institute's Scott Klusendorf demonstrating to the reader how to make the case for life in 5 minutes or less. The above film offers a look at some of the stories contained in We Choose Life. I encourage our readers to not only view this film, but also share it with others!
My notes are as follows:
Right away the video mentions forgiveness, healing and hope.  This is precisely what followers of Christ need to be ready to offer those who have made the choice to have an abortion.
Sterrett's sincere passion and love for others is evident in the beginning of the film.
The gospel is shared clearly within the first 3 minutes.  Amen!
Sterrett compares slavery to abortion and uses the S.L.E.D. approach in arguing for the unborn. Well done!
The racist ideas of Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Singer are highlighted.  For more on Singer, go here.
Ephesians 5:11 and Proverbs 24:10-12 are shared in an effort to call Christians to action.
Former Planned Parenthood employee Ramona Trevino shares her story.
Trevino became pregnant at 16 and shortly after became a manager at Planned Parenthood.
She shares how she confronted the moral implications of her job.
It is noteworthy that someone who was so involved in the abortion industry readily admits that what is in the womb is an "innocent baby."
Sterrett shares Proverbs 31:8 and shares a powerful illustration.
I am impressed with Sterrett's ability to remain both empathetic, but uncompromising in regard to the truth about abortion.
Sterrett wisely encourages those standing for the unborn to focus on the question, "What is the unborn?"
Sterrett explains the S.L.E.D. test in more detail.  All defenders of the unborn need to learn this method.  Learn it here.
He continues by addressing some common objections or claims made by the pro-abortion choice crowd. Most notably, he addresses the oft-repeated claim that in the case of rape, abortion is okay. For more on this common claim, go here.
He also addresses the oft-repeated claim that "While I'm personally against abortion, we should not make it illegal. It should be between a woman, her doctor and her God."
Sterrett uses a tactic called, "Trotting out the Toddler." You can learn more about that tool here.
Lila Rose of Live Action shares her story.
During Rose's story, an image is shared of a child that had been aborted in the first trimester. While some would object to the use of such imagery, I would contend that if there is nothing wrong with abortion, what is the problem? In other words, if some pro-abortion choice advocates are right, and this isn't a child, then how is this any different than looking at a liver that has been removed? I believe we all know, deep down, that it is a baby, and that is why some object to the use of such imagery.
Rose shares that her organization is determined to expose the lies surrounding abortion and, more specifically, the lies told by Planned Parenthood. For more on the lies told by PP, see here.
Sterrett shares the beauty of a child in the womb as seen through sonograms.
He then defends the use of pictures in changing the minds of those that are pro-abortion choice.
Sterrett continues by explaining what exactly abortion is. He shares the different types of abortion that are popular. Graphic video footage is shown. Again, in my view, if you are going to defend abortion, own it.  While this footage is shocking, it needs to be seen.
Melissa Ohden shares her story of surviving a botched abortion and being adopted. This testimony is powerful.
This is a powerful film that needs to be seen far and wide by both Christians and non-Christians. Sterrett does a great job of integrating powerful arguments with impactful stories.
Courage and Godspeed,
Chad

08 Things That North Korea Has Banned
Do you ever thought of moving to North Korea? Take a look at these 08 things which are some of the banned things for citizens by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un . 🇰🇵🇰🇵
If you have anything your heart desires, you can go to the store to buy it or buy it online. But, for the North Koreans, it is not that easy. Many companies refrain from selling their products in that country due to UN sanctions. Further, their national leader Kim Jong Un has a set of laws that prohibit the sale of many daily essential items. Here are eight things you can not buy in North…

The abortion debate is not about choice, privacy, trusting women, or empowering women. It’s about a serious foundational question: Who counts as one of us? Either you believe that each and every human being has an equal right to life, or you don’t.

Do you have any books on economics and/or social issues you would recommend?
Hmm, not sure about economics (I honestly haven’t read many), but for social issues I can definitely recommend some pro-life books!
Case for Life by Scott Klusendorf (great intro to pro-life apologetics)
Unplanned by Abby Johnson (her journey from being a Planned Parenthood clinic director to becoming pro-life, great for understanding the most effective ways to help abortion-minded women and close down abortion facilities)
The Walls Are Talking by Abby Johnson (a collection of stories from former abortion workers - not for the squeamish or easily upset)
Aborting America by Dr. Bernard Nathanson (he was an abortionist, a co-founder of NARAL, and he helped convince Betty Friedan and other feminists to make legalizing abortion a feminist issue - then later became pro-life and regretted it all)
Abuse of Discretion by Clarke D. Forsythe (all about the problems with how Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton were decided)
I hope that helps!

Two Very Thought Provoking Posts
Two Very Thought Provoking Posts
Tumblr media
I recently came across two individual, very thought provoking posts, both of which gave me a lot to think about. One of these posts was authored by John Piper, a man of God that I can’t help but respect, and the other is by Scott Klusendorf, the President for Life Training Institute.
John Piper’s post was written on the day that Donald Trump became President (20th January 2017) and Scott…

About the fetuses thing I think it was a joke about how other political groups (pro-life) rather fight for a fetus’ right (and we may about to see this come to fruition in USA after the loss of Justice RBG) than a woman’s right to anything. Anti woman sentiments all around! 😭
Yeah, most pro-life groups aren’t even fighting for the fetus’s right to life. The only individual who is actually fighting for this who I can think of off the top of my head is Scott Klusendorf (sp?) and tbh no one whose opinion matters is going to listen to him, because he’s a man (duh). It’s too bad that the pro-life groups who DO care about women first get their voices spoken over by old white conservative dudes who don’t know the difference between a uterus and an ovary.

Pro-life advocates defend that argument with science and philosophy. We argue from science that the unborn are distinct, living, and whole human beings. You didn’t come from an embryo; you once were an embryo. We argue from philosophy that there is no relevant difference between you the embryo and you the adult that justifies killing you at that earlier stage of development. Differences of size, level of development, environment, and degree of dependency are not good reasons for saying you could be killed then but not now…

Just so y’all are aware,
If you get yourself knee-deep in an abortion argument and you’ve been badgering the other person, mocking them, and calling them names, I’m not going to come rescue you if you tag me. I’m not going near that mess of a “debate” with a 10-foot pole.
Now, if you want advice about how to better approach the next discussion, my asks and messages are open. Also, I highly recommend watching videos from pro-life apologists like Josh Brahm, Stephanie Gray, Jay Watts, Trent Horn, and Scott Klusendorf.
It’s so important that we treat the people we’re talking to with respect, even if we don’t feel we’re being respected by them. Even if we feel they’re not respecting the preborn babies. We have to be kinder, more loving, more compassionate.
When you’re talking to pro-choice people online, chances are you’re not going to persuade them right then and there. What you might do is plant a seed, give them something to think about that may nudge them down the line. You are also representing the pro-life movement to everyone watching. Please be careful how you do that. When y’all are rude and dismissive to pro-choice people, I get hate messages about how pro-lifers are rude. Then I have to apologize on your behalf, often without even knowing what was actually said.
So please, make my life easier and help the entire pro-life movement by thinking before you reblog/reply and getting educated on how to make the case for the preborn without alienating people.

Love Thy Body - Nancy Pearcey
Love Thy Body Answering Hard Questions about Life and Sexuality Nancy Pearcey Genre: Religion & Spirituality Price: $14.99 Publish Date: January 2, 2018 Publisher: Baker Books Seller: Baker Book House Company Why the call to  Love Thy Body?  To counter a pervasive hostility toward the body and biology that drives today's headline stories:   Transgenderism: Activists detach gender from biology. Kids down to kindergarten are being taught their bodies are irrelevant. Is this affirming--or does it demean the body? Homosexuality: Advocates disconnect sexuality from biological identity. Is this liberating--or does it denigrate biology? Abortion: Supporters deny the fetus is a person, though it is biologically human. Does this mean equality for women--or does it threaten the intrinsic value of all humans? Euthanasia:  Those who lack certain cognitive abilities are said to be no longer persons. Is this compassionate--or does it ultimately put everyone at risk?   In  Love Thy Body,  bestselling author Nancy Pearcey goes beyond politically correct slogans with a riveting exposé of the dehumanizing worldview that shapes current watershed moral issues.   Pearcey then turns the tables on media boilerplate that misportrays Christianity as harsh or hateful. A former agnostic, she makes a surprising and persuasive case that Christianity is holistic, sustaining the dignity of the body and biology.   Throughout she entrances readers with compassionate stories of people wrestling with hard questions in their own lives--their pain, their struggles, their triumphs. "Liberal secularist ideology rests on a mistake and Nancy Pearcey in her terrific new book puts her finger right on it. In embracing abortion, euthanasia, homosexual conduct and relationships, transgenderism, and the like, liberal secularism . . . is philosophically as well as theologically untenable."-- Robert P. George,  Princeton University "Wonderful guide."-- Sam Allberry , author, Is God Anti-Gay? "A must-read."-- Rosaria Butterfield , former professor, Syracuse University; author, The Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert    "An astute but accessible analysis of the intellectual roots of the most important moral ills facing us today: abortion, euthanasia, and redefining the family."-- Richard Weikart , California State University, Stanislaus  "Highly readable, insightful, and informative."-- Mary Poplin , Claremont Graduate University; author, Is Reality Secular? "Unmasks the far-reaching practical consequences of mind-body dualism better than anyone I have ever seen."--Jennife r Roback Morse , founder and president, The Ruth Institute " Love Thy Body richly enhances the treasure box that is Pearcey's collective work."-- Glenn T. Stanton , Focus on the Family "Essential reading . . . Love Thy Body brings clarity and understanding to the multitude of complex and confusing views in discussions about love and sexuality."-- Becky Norton Dunlop , Ronald Reagan Distinguished Fellow, The Heritage Foundation "Pearcey gets straight to the issue of our day: What makes humans valuable in the first place? You must get this book. Don't just read it. Master it."-- Scott Klusendorf , president, Life Training Institute http://bit.ly/2IgeR8h
