ok also i wanna talk abt how the innies seem like maybe their personalities align more with how their outies were when they were younger? I feel like it would make sense that Helly was naturally more independent and clever (i mean she's still clever, but Helena uses it for evil). Irv was in the military and i think his dad was too so it would make sense that he was a rule-follower but it seems like his outie has become way cooler and disillusioned with age. Dylan's outie is very quiet and kinda seems like someone who's always dissociating (same, dude) but maybe when he was younger he was more lively. And Mark was a history professor, which i feel like connects to his defiance and his innie's natural ability to inspire people to rise up, but maybe when he was younger he was more like his innie usually is- a timid weenie who does what he's told.

other people and characters in the show have compared them to children, and while the innies clearly have adult brains they do have the naivety and impulse control (lack thereof) of kids, which is especially apparent in how irv and burt act around each other. or rather, they act like people who haven't experienced the stuff that, over time, makes people less likely to do what they want, or even be able to identify what it is they want, their minds have much fewer hypothetical obstacles between their Self and the actions they take. But also, that makes them easier to mold and indoctrinate, just like the kids who attend Egan boarding schools.

you’d be surpriseddddd like…and honestly what i see most often isn’t even people defending her, it’s people arguing over her and hating on her just for “messing with msr” or as some love triangle bullshit that never even existed, completely missing the more sinister nature of her character. like i don’t even think a lot of people clocked so many of the things revealed about her, or remember them, because no one ever talks about her in a way that acknowledges it. she was never a threat to msr or some sort of siren to mulder, she was a part of the conspiracy. she was tracking and exploiting and violating women. she both genuinely cared about mulder, and had absolutely no hesitation lying to and endangering him, nor regard for his safety/autonomy.

and her character does have more depth than is discussed.

Sephiroth: But, your reactions… you all shepherded me into the bathroom so quick—

Sephiroth remains silent for several beats, staring at all of his treasured companions, gazing at each of their warm and welcoming and accepting countenances with a swell of velvety warmth in his heart that is too magical and too precious to even begin to describe

And it’s in that moment, the old picture of himself on Rhadore still nestled in his pocket, that he realizes just why he wanted to stay the same.
