That single, tiny action of Simon briefly wetting dry lips had Johnny’s heart catching in his mouth. Really, that was all it took? He was disappointed in himself, honestly - he thought he was at least a little more difficult to excite. Yet here he was, staring at Simon’s lips, imagining what that tongue might feel like in other places.

He stopped staring, realising he’d let his eyes linger far too long.

The fact that Simon had let go of him was made up for by the realisation that he was going to see his room for the first time. Johnny wondered what it might be like. He couldn’t imagine Simon would have many personal belongings, he didn’t seem the type for very obvious reasons, but if he did have any, Johnny wondered what they might be. He supposed he was going to find out.

As Simon asked, Johnny turned to scoop up his gear - vest, jacket, mask, and holsters. He could feel the mask was still crusty with blood when he picked it up.

He was very tempted to have one last swig of the bourbon before leaving, eyeing it up as he passed by it again, but with his arms full of gear it would have been more effort than he could be bothered with. Plus, he got the impression that Simon wouldn’t like that, for some reason.

He held out half the gear to Simon, planning on carrying the other half himself just because that was fair, and gestured to the mask.

“Better give that thing a proper wash before ye wear it again.”

He sincerely hoped it wouldn’t be the first time he’d given it a good wash since he started wearing it, but he also… didn’t want to ask. He wasn’t sure he was going to like the answer.

Before Simon could point out that he was still holding half the gear, Johnny was out of the office and heading to where he knew Simon’s room was - even if he’d never been in there, he knew where it was.

When Johnny finally got to see inside, he found out he was correct. Simon didn’t have many personal belongings at all. His room was also decently tidy - some paperwork and clothes hanging about, but apart from that there was nothing out of place. Johnny knew his room was far worse.

Apart from clothes and basic necessities, Johnny could only see two things that were actually Simon’s - a dying plant by the window and… and a PG Tips monkey by his bed.

“Look at this guy!” Johnny exclaimed, grinning broadly as he saw the toy monkey, lingering in the doorway of Simon’s room even if his impulse had been to go and grab the monkey to check it out. He controlled his impulses for once, not wanting to forcefully invade Simon’s personal space, even if he really wanted to.

“Didn’t take you as a guy fer stuffed toys, LT!”

If Simon had let himself run wild with the urge, he would have slid his hands up Johnny's sides, lifted him up to sit him on the desk and manhandled him backwards until he was laying down, legs just hanging off the edge.

Picturing himself standing between Johnny's spread thighs, he knew what he'd have done next, and it involved Johnny wearing as little clothing as possible.

But, as he dragged his tongue between his lips to wet them from the sudden dryness that had taken over his mouth, the taste of alcohol snapped him back to reality. Whether it was the wipe or the bourbon he was tasting, and they had strangely tasted the same, his mind quickly got back to the task at hand.

The smile that resided on Johnny's lips was even better than the last, an air of smugness that his joke had been met with a positive reaction. Then, once he had discarded the bourbon, the smugness changed to something akin to relief. Simon found it strange. After Johnny's interactions with the alcohol, surely he couldn't be worried that Simon was drinking. It would have been quite hypocritical if he was.

He'd be quick to admit to the unholy thoughts that rushed through his brain as Johnny slowly titled his head back so he could maintain eye contact as Simon stood from his seat. Something seemed to change between them, then. It was a reversal of their roles a few moments prior, when Simon had been staring up at Johnny, blissed out, confused expression on his face as he was cleaned up with gentle hands. Johnny didn't make any attempts to remove himself from the situation, and Simon quickly realised that he'd probably been bruising Johnny's hips for how long and how tightly he'd been holding them.

As he let go, hearing that Johnny wanted to join him, a pleased feeling surged through him like a bolt of lightning. The relief and joy he felt was jarring, and he did his best to not let it show.

"Only got the one in 'ere, we'll have to stop by my room," Simon replied calmly, though the thought of letting Johnny into his own personal space made his chest tighten with anticipation.

Had he cleaned up recently? He doubted that it was messy, but there would surely be clothes lying around, unfolded and not yet put away into drawers. There would be some paperwork he hadn't yet finished filling out, too confidential to just store in his office. 

He knew there was a half-dead aloe Vera plant on his windowsill, and on his bedside table was his PG Tips monkey, which Johnny would inevitably make a comment about, but other than that? It should be clean and mostly tidy.

Finally, he dragged his hands from Johnny's hips, albeit reluctantly, and slowly crossed the room to the door, holding it open for Soap to exit first.

"Pass me my gear, would you?" he asked, waiting for Johnny to follow.

A common trope in robot stories is how robots cannot die, their ai can be reinstalled, their memories copied and reuploaded. It's interesting how here in Pluto death is very final.

Yknow, at times like this when I am too broke to have hobbies I think a lot about my old friend KF. See, in middle school and high school KF and I played Magic: The Gatherint together a lot. In my mid 20s I really wanted a ps4 but could not afford one because then, like now, I was unemployed. KF went to this hobby expo a couple times a month and so I gave him my magic collection with some set aside to sell at the expo (which would be worth about 500, enough to get me that PlayStation) and the rest to keep for himself or do with as you will. Well, KF took the cards and never gave me the money. Stopped hanging out with me after that too.

I know it’s not like I’d still have that money in my pocket right now if he had given it to me, but oh what I wouldn’t give to have it now. Yknow? Anyway my donation post is pinned, chip in if ya can.
