late June and July YOI LOOT POST

Our amiami box arrived, and before we could get ANYTHING out, JoeJoe made himself very at home in it. He is very much a box cat and we love him for it. Amiami boxes are huge and wonderful and he is so, so excited whenever they arrive. Not only are they boxes, but they’re filled to the brim with all the paper!!

These are Bushiroad’s ‘rubber strap rich’ collection. I have no idea why they’re called ‘rich.’ They’re big, high quality rubber straps though with really cute art. I ordered them way back in January, which is quite a long preorder time for a series of rubber straps. o.o

On the contrary these had a really short preorder period; went up in late April or early May and came out in June. They’re A3′s second series of YOI acrylics. I really like this series a lot. The skating ones are a little unoriginal pose and outfit wise, but the art is super cute, and the non-skating ones are fantastic.  They’re a pretty good size too! ❤

Hasepro’s second series of YOI mini acrylics. They say ‘mini’, but they’re more medium sized than small. I like the art a lot it’s so chunky and huggable. The biggest reason I was excited for this set was these boys:

Barcelona date night husbands!! I love them so much. Precious as can be. 

Anyway this set came with a couple duplicates so I’ll be selling those (sorry no Barcelona duplicates though :( ).

Yuri!!! in Ice Water-in Collection by Kadokawa. These are hard to photograph. They’re those squishy pvc keychains with water in them where the characters float inside. Since it’s YOI, there’s snowflakes along with the glitter. It’s a really cute set. The cutest is definitely the KATSUDON Yuuri. He’s so excited, and the background is literally like--- a photo of katsudon? It’s hilarious. The onsen Victor is almost as good. 

The kitty ears Yurio came out of his package a bit damaged, which I’m not happy about. It was slightly leaking and due to that it’s kind of foggy. I can seal the leak, but it still looks not quite right. At least it wasn’t one of my absolute faves, but it’s annoying. It’s not amiami’s fault of course, but it’s irritating that it happened. 

Not from amiami but @aitaikuji. I bought two Thai Animate blind packs from them a couple months ago and they finally arrived. I ended up with watergun Victor and Phichit on Ice Phichit. Of course, I really wanted a Yuuri, but this is the Phichit I definitely preferred and I was happy with either Victor. I’m going to try to find a lot with both Yuuris now so I can have a set that’s Victor and Yuuri and Phichit and Yuuri. How much I’ll have to bleed for that, I don’t know, but... ahahah #doitforhim. 

The second thing is the clear mascots from Furyu that were released recently! Victor has his biggest HART MOUF ever seen in YOI merchandise, I swear. It’s so adorable. They all look so happy. They actually... didn’t have an option to pick secondary characters on the site. You just bought a main character and got a random secondary character. But I wanted secondary characters! So I asked if I could pick mine and they said yes, and I asked for Leo and Phichit. 

I opened Movic’s YOI mini clear file box and immediately cringed because they were all blind packed which I did not know or expect. RIP this is going to take forever. I didn’t want to damage the envelopes too much because I planned on selling several of these, and I couldn’t use the exacto knife I usually use to quickly open boxes because it would probably damage the clear files. 

Anyway here they are. Unluckily for her @abarero was stuck on the couch cramping so she volunteered her idle hands on it. They’re ADORABLE and all the characters look super cute in them!! I love this art and wanted some good merchandise with it, but unfortunately the acrylic keychain set of it put the two Yuris together on one keychain which ummm wtf?? Why would you do that with two of the main characters. That just killed it for me. This clearfile set instead put Mickey and Emil together which makes a million times more sense. 

Not from amiami but @aitaikuji. These came earlier this week. The hand cream is by... I don’t even know. It smells nice and the pattern on it is ADORABLE. I want a sweater with this pattern. I will wear it every day during the holidays. Or something. 

The plush are the pitarest by Eikoh. They’re extremely cute. They also came with magnets and... straps so you can attach them to your collar and they can ride on your shoulder. lol. I love them. 

Yuri!! on Ice Pita! Deform FS Acrylic Keychain by Takara Tomy. Those weird keychains where everyone is squished. Listen I love them. They’re glittery and funny and silly. Also:

Contrary to this post, I don’t often buy clearfiles because I don’t really have much of a way (or room) to display them, but the Ministop art was too effing cute. And when I’d already ordered the Pita keychains on FromJapan and this was so cheap on Otamart, I decided it was irresistible enough and I threw it on my order. 

Kotobukiya’s Pitanui plush. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW CUTE THESE ARE IN PERSON... if you have not seen them. RIP in pieces, self. Also they hug and their heads can pivot and wow, amazing.

I bought this acrylic stand because I love this art of Yuuri and Victor so, so much and outside of this expensive perfume I really didn’t want that much, this is the only way I’d seen it available. I admit the hand placement for Yurio is kind of um, weird though. What were they thinking. Still pretty though!

These are Kotobukiya’s reversible dream cushion covers. The art on them is fantastic. I don’t have pillows for them yet because they require these weird special pillows that only Kotobukiya sells and they’re forty-five dollars a piece+whatever it costs to sell those big pillows to the US (a lot). As such @abarero is just going to make ones that fit. Anyway they’re really pretty. 

The little pillow in the middle is a MochiMochi Collecushion of Yuuri by HN and Associates. He is SO squishy. 

I put this blanket on my couch and before I could even open the camera on my phone, Ritz was on it. It could not have been more than two seconds before he’d made the blanket his new home?? It’s SOFT and it’s new and it is his. 

The History Maker cushions are by Kadokawa. They big and fluffy and they’re half bean bag-esque. Very comfortable. Ritz is our biggest cat (a big, ginger baby). The blanket is the OhizadeGoodNight!!! Blanket by Avex. I didn’t order the Victor because I actually thought the art of him for this particular merchandise was... really bad. He looked kind of sleazy and weirdly like he needed to take a bath? Also Makkachin was licking his armpit. IDEK. Bad job. Yuuri was cute though. 

The blanket is a soft sort of fleece-y material, which is very cat approved. It’s not super thick, so maybe a spring and autumn weight blanket instead of a winter weight one. 

hours later, Ritz moved. 

Lastly I played a few rounds of the June ‘Enjoy Your Trip’ Minna no Kuji with @sunyshore. I won this Yuuri Towel, which is pretty awesome!! I love this art of him. It’s fantastic. 

I also got this Yuuri can badge, which is like the biggest can badge I have ever seen. I won the Otabek and Minami rubber straps, both of which I’ll probably try to sell or trade. Then there’s two Yuuri themed sticker sheets I found at a tiny local con!

So like I'm about to drop some sick prompts for seal cuddles cause god I need them. -Viktor wakes up to a sleeping seal (Katsudon lol of course) crushing his stomach but it's totally fine until he has to piss. -Viktor invites Yuuri to Russia for a meet the family or vacation. Viktor comes back from a grocery run to find a Katsudon in his bathtub. -Viktor won't do the dishes and in spite Yuuri activates salty Katsudon and ignores Viktor in seal form. -Coach cuddles honestly Have a good day!

okay, so i was going to go for “viktor comes back from a grocery run to find katsudon in his bathtub” (though it would be in Torvill bc…. you’ll just have to wait and see ;) ) or “viktor wakes up to a sleeping seal” but then some Recent Events happened and now i’m going for the Dishcourse. -cracks knuckles-

They say the course of true love never did run smooth, but this is really getting quite ridiculous.

“You know he can still think when he’s in seal form, right?” Yuri Plisetsky asks him as the two of them watch Katsudon chase Makkachin in the surf of the little beach. Viktor raises an eyebrow, and then tucks the tupperware full of herring meant to be a peace offering behind his back.

“I have no idea what you mean,” he says sweetly.

“You might as well give up and just do the dishes,” says Yuri. “He can be ridiculously stubborn when he puts his mind to it.”

“I know that.” Viktor suppresses the lump in his throat rising at the thought of those four months of silence. 

“Why weren’t you doing them in the first place?” Yuri wonders, as Makkachin barks and splashes at Katsudon, who rolls over and splashes some water at the poodle in response.

“I have a system. If I cook dinner, I don’t do the dishes. I’ve been cooking dinner for the past two weeks.”

Yuri sighs, pinches the bridge of his nose. “And nowhere during the… how many months have you known Yuuri again?”

Viktor purses his lips. “Almost a year?” he wonders. 

“Nowhere during that time did you see fit to inform your partner of this system?”

Viktor blinks. “I think I might have told him maybe once?”

Yuri groans. “You’re hopeless,” he grouses. “I hope you learn your lesson.”

Viktor sighs. “I’m sorry,” he says. “I’m really bad at stuff like this.”

“No shit,” says Yuri. “Just go take care of your damn dish backlog already.”

So Viktor does, and it takes him a ridiculous amount of time to get everything washed up and dried and put away. But finally, with his arms still somewhat covered in soap suds, he heads back to the little beach to find Yuri tossing Yuuri a towel and signing rapidly at him. Yuuri wraps himself in the towel, picking up his pelt with one hand, and Viktor’s smile is sheepish as he walks along the sand towards the selkie.

“I’m sorry,” he says. “I keep getting stuck in my own head and assuming that you should be able to read it.”

Yuuri shrugs, something approximating forgiveness dancing in his eyes, and he bumps his shoulder against Viktor’s as the three of them and Makkachin make their way back up to the cottage.

And since there isn’t really seal cuddles in that, lemme also write you another one of these prompts:

Katsudon rarely shows up in their cottage. Seals don’t exactly smell like roses, after all, and it’s difficult changing in a cramped little tub.

But this isn’t their cottage. This is a luxury hotel suite in Tokyo, where the tub is ridiculously large with Jacuzzi jets, and Katsudon is swirling around in the bubbles making happy little chirping noises. 

Viktor has to laugh at the seal as he tries to hold out a towel, only to get a splash to his face for his troubles. Spluttering, Viktor sets the towel back on the rack and holds out his now-sodden shirt with a wrinkle of his nose.

“Bad Katsudon,” he chides. “Don’t splash me like that.”

The seal’s whiskers twitch amusedly. 

Viktor kneels down by the side of the tub, his heart skipping a beat when Katsudon bumps his head against his hand. He scritches at the seal’s fur, ruffling at the hairs. Katsudon makes a low purring noise of contentment, almost like the rumble of an engine. 

“Come on, you should get out,” Viktor says after a moment. “You’ve been in here for ages.”

Katsudon rolls away from him. Viktor laughs.

“Okay, then. I guess you’ll be missing out on cuddles.”

That seems to perk the seal up, and he immediately starts scrabbling to get out of the tub. The problem is, the sides are too slick and he is too blubbery, and so after a moment of wild flailing and splashing Viktor takes pity on him and lends him a hand. 

He’s barely finished wrapping the seal up in a towel before it’s scooting out of the bathroom and back to the bedroom, moving with alarming alacrity towards the couch. Viktor follows, taking a seat on the couch and patting the cushion beside him. 

With a great deal of effort, Katsudon manages to launch himself onto the couch next to Viktor, his head coming to rest in Viktor’s lap. Viktor smiles, bending down to bump their foreheads together, listening to Katsudon’s contented rumble as he pulls away. His fingers scritch at Katsudon’s belly, and after a moment the seal’s flippers move to hold him in place. Viktor laughs.

After a moment, however, Katsudon begins to make a series of squeaks and chirps that Viktor vaguely recognises. It’s what Yuuri uses to transform, he knows, but every time he’s lucky enough to watch this process he’s still blown away. The pelt seems to melt off Yuuri’s human form even in front of his eyes; what had once been a happy black harbour seal is now his beautiful human partner (fiance, Viktor’s mind helpfully supplies), looking up at him with those dark, enigmatic eyes.

“Welcome back, love,” Viktor replies, his hand now ghosting along the line of Yuuri’s sternum, and Yuuri smiles briefly before sitting up against Viktor’s legs for a kiss.

I cannot freaking believe I have enough photos for this, but have a YOI things in Japan post, Part 3:

1) Funny story. I was at Shibuya and I figured I'd drop by the Animate there (which was hell to find, btw) to see if they had any unique YOI merch. I wandered the store and couldn't find the YOI section, and I thought maybe unlike Ikebukuro, they're trying to keep the hype equal across all series. BOY WAS I WRONG. I turned a corner and was faced with this wall.

2) Turns out YOI gets a WHOLE cornered off area by itself. Look at this gloriousness. 1.5 walls of screencaps from the anime. Plus a TV screen playing the first episode.

3) The middle of the room are stands and tables with official merch. Directly across the screencap wall are the rest of our boys. They also had a little display with all the mags related to YOI. See that empty space at the top right? That's Otomedia with the Valentines podium family cover, which is also sold out at Ikebukuro. I guess they'll restock soon though, since it's the Feb edition. They also had mags featuring Hanyu Yuzuru :D

4) Another wall, where you can post birthday wishes for Guang Hong and Chris, whose birthdays are coming up soon!

5) Hahahaha I wanted to post this. These are new merch. If I'm not mistaken they're being released staggered at different stores; Shibuya has these from the 16th to 29th. Everything with a red tag is sold out. So basically - that's everything sold out lol. A lot of these are blind boxes too.

6 to 8) More Kubo-sensei doodles :DDDDD. Victor's says: "Katsudon? I really like it." lololol

9) Here’s Victor but also, that display shows all the new merch (that sold out lol). We're not allowed to photograph the merch display but we can take Victor, and I realized you can see some of the merch in this pic.

10) So like. Animate knows their customers. They had a promo where you get a free postcard (given blind, and those envelopes are sealed tight mind you) for each 1000 yen you spend on YOI merch. I got Guang Hong and Minami-kun from Ikebukuro (mags don't count or else I'll have more postcards). In Shibuya, because of the new stuff, you get both a postcard AND one of six coaster with the new merch dessert designs. I purposely bought above 1000 yen to get the free coaster, but I didn't know I was still entitled to the postcard. And I got Yuuri in all his sparkly glory! The coaster was chosen by the Animate staff who rang up my purchase (it didn't come in an envelope or anything) and I don't know if I'm lucky or if it's the first one on the pile or he picked Victor for me because I spoke English and hence outed myself as a foreigner... But thank you kind sir TwTb

And then I had Katsuya katsudon today (thanks for the rec, @cannedebonbon!). I was hunting down the nearest post office this morning to mail some postcards and the restaurant was right there. In hindsight, it was a sign today would be a YOI day as well hahahaha.

I have a really bad headache right now so I’ll try to be concise.

I accomplished my studying goals today! Actually it felt quite nice to learn stuff. I’m kind of nervous about going to class tomorrow after missing 2 weeks but there are only 3 classes left so I can get through it. Kind of relieved that the next level isn’t offered next semester because it adds a lot of stress for me.

I also got out to the bank - my bike is working well! Except, the brakes definitely have something wrong with them. Then again, there has NEVER been a time when there hasn’t been a problem with this bike’s breaks. Still, maybe I should bring it to the shop...

It was a nice sunny day, allegedly below 0 all day but who can tell? The snow has mostly melted which means it’s that gross part of spring where everything is brown and grey. The view from my window is pretty awful! The massive black snow piles haven’t melted yet. Spring is my least favourite season.

Got some groceries at the store too since it was right beside the bank. Just some vegetables and stuff.

I didn’t get my emails written or sent, although I did read the emails I was supposed to reply to which is.. a step! I’m going to work on them over the course of this week. I realized I’m just the kind of person who doesn’t reply to emails in a reasonable timeframe (anxiety and ptsd-related memory issues being the main culprits) so I’m not even going to bother apologizing for taking a long time lol.

Umm, other than that... got the back wall of the bathroom sealed up which will hopefully stop the ants. At least I’m 80% sure that’s where they’re coming from.

Had some menchi katsu for dinner. So glad I made and froze extras - it’s so good! And I dunno what it is, but when you get a mouthful of menchi katsu + katsudon sauce + cabbage it is just the best combo.

Work tomorrow but not until the afternoon. Still gonna try not to stay up tooo late because of this headache.

So Im planning a trip to Scotland soon and really have no idea where I would like to really visit. Since you seem to know alot about Scotland, is there anywhere you would suggest I visit? Sites to see?

i’m actually most definitely not the first person you should ask about doing touristy things in scotland as i haven’t been there yet (i’ve been to the uk, but not scotland), so instead, here’s @kazliin​‘s guide to scotland:

Edinburgh (the capital) - there's loads to do in Edinburgh including Edinburgh castle (make sure you're there for the 1 o'clock canon), Edinburgh Zoo with the pandas and the penguin parade, Edinburgh dungeons if you like cool scary historical tours, if you're there from the 4-28th August definitely go to the Fringe Festival because it's full of really amazing acts and shows. There's also lots of museums and historical things to visit like Greyfriars churchyard. 

 Glasgow (the biggest city) - Glasgow is full of things to do. There are lots of amazing museums like Kelvingrove, Riverside and the Science Centre and historical things like Mackintosh house and the Tall Ship. Glasgow also has a really good music scene so there are big venues like the Hydro or little famous ones like King Tuts where people like Oasis and Paramore played before they were famous. Glasgow is also the best for shopping so places like Buchanan and Sauchiehall street and good places to go. There's also lots of weird and wonderful things to see in Glasgow like Sharmanka and there's plenty of theatres and opera houses if you want to see plays/shows/opera etc. Glasgow is also surrounded by lots of mountains (as are lots of cities in Scotland) so there is plenty of outdoor activities and hiking to do 

 For other outdoor things, Scotland is very beautiful so there are lots of things like Lochs to go and visit if you want to do outdoors stuff. Loch Lomond is very pretty with lots of good walking trails and hiking opportunities around it, as places like Loch Ness (plus you can try and spot the monster). Scotland also has hundreds of castles and they are always worth going to see. Some like Doune Castle have had famous things like Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Game of Thrones filmed there and some like Eilean Donan are very beautiful and full of lots of history, especially Jacobite stuff. 

Wherever you are in Scotland, there is almost guaranteed to be a castle nearby and they are always worth visiting because they usually have fun guided tours or cool things to do and see. 

There are loads of other historical things in Scotland that are really fun to go to. Places like the Wallace monument in Stirling (it's not just a monument, there are historical reenactment, costumed guided tours and things like archery), Calanais standing stones, the Antonine wall, St Andrews cathedral etc. It all really depends on what you're looking for, cultural, historical, outdoors or city life. 

But you can pretty much guarantee whatever city you go to, if you pick up a tourist brochure at the local visitors centre there will be tons available to do. 

Apart from that just remember to pack an umbrella. Because you'll need it.

From what I’ve picked up in my research for BtDS, I know that Scotland is known for scotch (of course), and mead and fruit wines (there’s a couple interesting small wineries that specialise in those things). 

Also, there’s a railroad line from Glasgow that goes up to Maillaig (which is roughly where I’ve located Torvill lol) called the West Highland line that has been rated the top rail journey in the world (even past the Trans-Siberian railway). It goes past Loch Lomond, I believe. Parts of the Hogwarts Express were filmed there, as well as in Maillaig, and also from Maillaig you can take ferries or other trains out to islands in the Hebrides, which are another set of really great locations for hiking and photography and things. 

As for other cities you could visit if you’re in the Highlands and stuff, I’ve heard Inverness is pretty cool. It’s the capital of the Highlands, and there you can find Macbeth’s castle, the fields of the battle of Culloden, etc. Fort William is also on the West Highland line, and is the location of Fort Con, which is a pop culture convention! Besides that Fort William is good for hiking and outdoorsy stuff, and is also the setting for a lot of films as well (Braveheart, Harry Potter, etc)

If you’re really looking to get away, the Orkneys are a good place to do so, though I hear it gets terribly cold up there all the time. There’s some fascinating cliff structures up in the Orkneys that definitely influenced the look for Torvill, so yeah. 

If you.... um. Want to go seal watching (because why not?), harbour seal pupping season in Scotland is from mid-June to roughly mid-July or August (followed by the moulting and mating seasons), and you’ll get to see tons of the cuties all over the Hebrides and Orkney and Shetland and stuff. There aren’t as many harbour seals as there are grey seals (and I know you’re not going to Ireland but bruh, Wicklow City in Ireland has their own Katsudon -- look up Sammy the Seal!) but from the photos I’ve seen they’re all ridiculously cute.

I'm totally not doing a school paper on seals because of BTDS, not at all (and by that I mean may I ask what subspecies of harbor seals Yuuri is because I want to stay as close to Yuuri's selkie form as possible)

So for most of the fic’s multimedia Katsudon is classed as Phoca vitulina vitulina, which is the Eastern Atlantic Harbour seal. But he’s actually Phoca vitulina stejnegeri, or the Kuril/Western Pacific Harbour seal. Yuuko pretty much runs a giant cover-up for him so that marine bio students in Torvill don’t question why there’s a seal native to Hokkaido swimming around in their harbour lol
