The news about Mr. Taiki Matsuno (Tarte from Fresh PreCure) passing away is very saddening, but knowing that the respective seiyuus of Tarte and Kaoru have reunited in the afterlife truly adds a silver lining to this dark cloud. May they rest in peace! ✨

I was making a list of my favorite KAORU matches in honor of her retirement only to discover that almost none of them are online.

My primary exposure to KAORU was as a tag team wrestler. As part of the Honey Wings and later on with Mayumi Ozaki as D-FIX. D-FIX vs Meiko Satomura/Ayako Hamada is one of my favorite matches. KAORU's performance as air-headed second/sidekick at the last ever GAEA show while Mayumi Ozaki takes on Sakura Hirota (wrestles...relentlessly bullies, whatever) always stands out in my mind as well.

Mika Takahashi and Kaoru Maeda, the Honey Wings. 1988. Love this photo. The Honey Wings, alongside the Marine Wolves and the Fire Jets provided some great tag team action in late 80s AJW.
