SONG OF THE WEEK: “Kept on Walkin’ (Pivotal Moments in Time)” https://johnnyjblairsingeratlarge.bandcamp.com/track/kept-on-walkin-pivotal-moments-in-time —The smallest decision can change your life forever, whether in thought, deed, business, love, and matters of eternity…that is the message behind the lyrics largely written by Jennie Kanski, with chords and melody set up by her husband Steve Kanski. I tweaked the lyrics a bit and arranged it in a style that dailyvault. com (in a review) identified as “Roxy Music-ish hipster crooning.” More specifically, I was aiming for a pensive mood ala 80s-era Bryan Ferry (when David Gilmour was playing guitar). At least two singers have expressed interest in covering this song (I sent it to Bryan in 2014), and it was playlisted on Lord Litter’s radio show in Berlin (Germany). Give a listen and thanks for walking with me... https://johnnyjblairsingeratlarge.bandcamp.com/track/kept-on-walkin-pivotal-moments-in-time

Road to 4☆TOWN
part 41 | part 42 | part 43 | part 44 | part 45 | part 46 | part 47 | part 48 | part 49
“Hey.” Jesse smiled as he picked up his daughter from the bassinet. “Good morning, beautiful. Mommy’s still tired from all that hard work she did getting you out here, so it’s just you and me right now.” He stared at his daughter, incapable of wiping the stupid grin off his face. “You really are the most precious little thing, aren’t you? My sweet little Lacey.” He kissed her head.
“Hey, Jes, we’re—”
“Shhhh!” Jesse quickly shushed his brothers as they came in. “Selina’s sleeping.”
“Sorry, sorry.” Sean backed up. “Robaire sent us in ahead while he tries to figure out how to sneak in here without too many people noticing.”
“Ugh, I have to get the nurse. There’s a ridiculously complicated secret check in and I honestly don’t remember how we even got there.” Jesse rolled his eyes. “Whatever. How’s my little guy doing?”
Marcel looked around. “I don’t like it here.” He held out his arms. “I wanna go home with you and Mommy.”
“Awww, Squishy, we can’t go home just yet.” Jesse gently stroked Marcel’s hair. “Just for right now, we have to stay here so Mommy can rest. But I promise it won’t be for too long.” He adjusted his grip on Lacey. “But for now do you guys wanna meet the baby?”
“Yes, yes, yes! I woke up super early for this.” Danny started to bounce. His eyes sparkled when he saw his niece. “Awww, she’s so tiny.”
“She’s really cute.” Sean stared at her. “What’d you guys name her?”
“Lacey.” Jesse said, gazing at his daughter. “A few years ago before we even had Marcel, Selina mentioned that she really liked the name.”
“I’m still surprised you remembered.”
“Mommy!” Marcel exclaimed excitedly.
“Hi, baby.” Selina waved as she sat up a bit. “Boys, I hope you don’t mind but it’s feeding time for the little one.”
“Yeah, she’s not the only one.” Danny said as his stomach grumbled.
“Oh right. Food.” Sean clutched his stomach. “We left so quickly this morning, I forgot all about the concept of eating.”
Jesse chuckled. “Before you guys do that, do me a favor and find Nurse Kansky.” He said as he passed Lacey to her mother. “She’ll take you to the back door where you can let Robaire in.”
“Yeah, no prob.” Sean said. “C’mon, Danny.” The two of them started to head out.
“UH—” Jesse stopped them. “Maybe leave Marcel with us.”
“Oh. OH, RIGHT!” Sean gave Marcel to Jesse. “Sorry, I’m a little lost.”
“I noticed.” Jesse rolled his eyes. “You’re making me nervous about letting you go out there by yourselves.”
“Don’t worry about us.” Danny waved a hand. “We don’t get lost, we go on adventures.” He winked.
“Yeah, you just focus on them.” Sean gestured to Selina and Lacey. “We’ll be back later.”
“Thanks, guys. I really appreciate it.” Jesse smiled at his brothers. As soon as they were gone, he sat beside Selina in the hospital bed. “So, Marcel, what do you think of your new little sister?”
Marcel was quiet. He watched in confusion as Selina started to breastfeed Lacey. “What she doing?”
“Eating.” Selina answered. “When you were smaller, you used to eat like this, too.”
“It took a few tries to figure it out, but we learned eventually.” Jesse gently brushed some hair out of Marcel’s face. “You were a good sport though. You were really patient with us.”
“It look funny.” Marcel laughed a bit.
Selina snorted. “Believe me, hon, it feels funny too.”
Marcel continued to watch in a trance. Suddenly, he turned and made grabby hands at a bag Danny left behind.
“What is it, buddy?” Jesse asked. “You want something too?”
Marcel nodded. “I need yoyo.”
Jesse dragged the bag over and handed Marcel a yogurt cup and a spoon. “Are you gonna eat that now or—” He froze when Marcel offered the yogurt to his sister.
“Awwwww!” Jesse and Selina both swooned.
“Are you trying to share your favorite snack with Lacey?” Jesse asked.
Marcel nodded.
“Oh that’s so precious.” Selina smiled at him. “She can’t have any yogurt right now but that’s very sweet of you, baby.”
“Can I share later?” Marcel asked, keeping his eyes fixed on the baby.
Jesse laughed. “She’s too little for yogurt, Squishy. But you can have it if you want.”
Marcel thought about it for a second before attempting to rip open the yogurt.
“I’m so glad he likes her.” Selina sighed with relief. “I was so worried he’d be jealous or angry with us.”
“Maybe he’s growing up a little faster than we thought.” Jesse said as he opened the yogurt for Marcel. “But not too fast.” He stared at the three of them for a moment and smiled. “I think the way we are right now is perfect.”

Putin announces MiG-31 permanent patrols with hypersonic weapons over the Black Sea
The deployment should not be seen as a threat, Putin said.
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 10/19/2023 - 16:00 in Military
Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed that Russian MiG-31 aircraft equipped with the Kinzhal hypersonic complex will be involved in regular patrols over the neutral airspace of the Black Sea.
This announcement was made during a press conference held on Wednesday, where the President of Russia emphasized that this measure should not be seen as a threat.
Speaking to reporters, President Putin declared: "This is not a threat, which I am announcing now - under my instructions, the Aerospace Forces are starting to patrol permanently in the neutral zone of airspace over the Black Sea, and our MiG-31 interceptors are armed with Kinzhal complexes."
The Kinzhal, nicknamed "Adaga", is an aviation system with a high-precision hypersonic missile installed in an updated MiG-31 interceptor fighter, capable of aiming and achieving objectives more than 2,000 kilometers away, according to Russian military claims.
President Putin elaborated even more on the capabilities of the Kinzhal complex during the press conference, saying: “They are known to have a range of more than 1,000 kilometers at a speed of Mach 9. I warned that this is not a threat, but we will carry out the visual control, the control with weapons, of what is happening in the Mediterranean Sea."
This announcement follows previous reports indicating that ten MiG-31K aircraft, equipped with the Kinzhal modification, have been in experimental combat service in the Southern Military District since April 2018, mainly patrolling the Caspian Sea. In addition, the Russian military disclosed their plans to equip the Kansky Regiment, located in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, with these aircraft equipped with Kinzhal until the year 2024.
The Kansky Regiment, armed with the Kinzhal complex integrated into the MiG-31 aircraft, is an integral component of the long-range aviation division of the Russian Aerospace Forces. The information was shared by the Commander of Long-range Aviation, Sergei Kobylash, during an interview with the newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda in December 2022.
Although President Putin's announcement emphasizes the intention to maintain visual and weapons control in neutral airspace over the Black Sea, the deployment of the MiG-31 aircraft equipped with Kinzhal raises questions and concerns among international observers about the evolution of the dynamics in the region.

Image descriptions original post: (NOTE: this is apparently from ira remsen's principles of theoretical chemistry, according to other notes & tags) White background with black text that says "While reading a textbook of chemistry, I came upon the statement "nitric acid acts upon copper," and I determined to see what this meant. Having located some nitric acid, I had only to learn what the words "act upon" meant. In the interest of knowledge I was even willing to sacrifice one of the few copper cents then in my possession. I put one of them on the table, opened a bottle labeled "nitric acid", poured some of the liquid on the copper, and prepared to make an observation. But what was this wonderful thing which I beheld? The cent was already changed, and it was no small change either. A greenish-blue liquid foamed and fumed over the cent and over the table. The air became colored dark red. How could I stop this? I tried by picking the cent up and throwing it out the window. I learned another fact: nitric acid acts upon fingers. The pain led to another unpremeditated experiment. I drew my fingers across my trousers and discovered nitric acid acts upon trousers. That was the most impressive experiment I have ever performed. I tell of it even now with interest. It was a revelation to me. Plainly the only way to learn about such remarkable kinds of action is to see the results, to experiment, to work in the laboratory."
