Heyyyo
So Ive made this list before so im going to star the ones that are particularly gothic/murder folk
**K.K. Hammond - Gritty Blues with swamp theming
Dirt Poor Robins - Cabaret which is always awsome
Mashed Potatoe Records - Vintage Country Vibes (not the sold out garbage you may be thinking of)
Yola - Also good vintage country vibes
THE EBONY HILLBILLIES
Carolina Chocolate Drops
Our Native Sisters
*Rail Yard Ghost - Call of the Void (my favorite poem)
- (l dont know why but divided this list by gender of the main singer so the rest of them are guys)
*Amigo The Devil - Either really sad or a banger (With high themes of xstian guilt)
*The Taxpayers - Loud! (their most popular album is the life story of one of his friends, dedicated to him after his passing, the man is insane)
Sledding With Tigers - Okay this is cheating but! Y'know Space Jam? They made a folk musical version.
*American Murder Song - Okay they arent exactly indie but i found them recently and i am in love; 18th century Murder Songs, two albums one about The Donner Party and second about the year without a summer 1816
Beggars Cayon - Most like Holy Locust
Holy Locust - Bluegrass that reminds you are alive
- One of thier singers made a solo song Marget which is a queer wlw song that has made me try multiple times
Mischief Brew - More folk punky
*Ghost Number
Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution - Acoustic Ska
Gangstargrass Wanna list to some guy rap over a banjo?
I tried to organize my spotify recently so heres that
Okay so you said murder folk right? Well how about Mideast Emo? I love Harley Poe with a passion, its sad he cant sing
Mutual/ppl challenge: recommend gothic country, murder folk, and adjacent to me

hey are you looking for more folk-y stuff? With all the strings and horns and amazing spectacular vibes? Because while holy lovust is by far one of my favorites i love talking so-!
Furst things first, Are You Queer? Because Summer Newman, singer in holy locust, wrote a song about 1900s lesbians thats really sad called Margret and its so good man i cry to it often
Bridge City Sinners - I like to call them Banjo death metal
Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution - Spotify calls them acoustic ska
Amigo The Devil - His main is banjo but damn is he an amazing artist, wanna cry? Drop For Every Hour
The Taxpayers - Loud!
American Murder Song - songs themed around 1900s murders
Brown Bird - Got the layers
Tejon Street Corner Thieves - My brains dying imma just list bands
Rail Yard Ghost - Call Of The Void (!!!!)
Larry and his Flask
Beggars Cayon
The Curse of K.K. Hammond
AlicebanD (?)
Gangstargrass - Wannaisten to some guy rap over bluegrass?
Our Native Daughters
The Carolina Chocolate Drops
THE EBONY HILLBILLIES
Black Bird Raum
Mash Potatoe Records - This is a bit off track, they are peak vibes tho like vintage country (not the sold out capitalist country)
why did nobody tell me about them earlierrrrr. they're so good. if you like the sort of music that really puts the "folk" in folk punk, the kind that has like, all sorts of variously sized bow-and-string instruments and banjos and accordions and shit, you know the type i know you do. then you should listen. very delicious very good
i don't know if the above audio link will just be the first track or the entirety of their newest album because i don't think i've ever attempted to link a whole album on tumblr so idk how it works. but listen to the whole album if you try them. or alternately just go to see a live performance without having heard them before. worked for me
#music posting#sorry i love music so much and tumblr wont let me look at your bio to see if you dont like this tyoe of engagement
