Who TF is Kallen (ft. Remus & Jules)
Hi! Another yappost from the lovely google doc again (I think I might need to take a while to cook rn bc tests are coming up) because I think they're worth talking about + back in Feb I hyperfixated on Kallen and Jules (though I'm mostly gonna be talking about Kallen today)
Tumblr media
Backstory
(This doc's like a good maybe 8 months old so bear with me lol I've edited a few parts but yeah)
Born into a prestigious family business under full moons, in an effort to harden her at a young age her father had her kill her mother who was trying to protect her from the family business, Cassie landed a blow on her mother but her mother seemed to drop dead at her command. Later on in life Cassie would come to realize that this was her full moon ability: she could control people, but only if they feared her. From then on Cassie’s father would begin shaping her into what he saw fit as the ideal family heir teaching her fencing, the family’s business tactics, and even bringing her to business meetings sometimes. It soon became clear that her family wasn’t only in the mining business…. It was a crime family, a secret that was well hidden this whole time as well. One evening however, when her father brought her to a business meeting in a shabby cabaret, she became entranced by a performer she saw there; a ballerina. When she got home, she couldn’t stop thinking about her, so she ended up sneaking out on the excuse that she wanted to check if their workers needed discipline as a working experience for herself, and went then back to the cabaret the next day to see the performer again.
Over time, she became a regular at that cabaret, always getting better with her lies as well. She would go out on scattered days; the lie depending on the random day she chose. If the weather was sunny, she’d say she’d be going on walks. The ballerina eventually recognised her as a regular, and so, Cassie and her being a similar age, she approached  her one evening. That ballerina was Jules. The girls got along pretty well, and after Jules introduced Cassie to Remus, an orphan who grew up close to Jules that worked as a part time stagehand there, they all became a fast group of friends. Cassie kept sneaking out to meet with them, finally with friends of her own. This went on for maybe 3 years, with Jules and Cassie eventually falling for each other.
Naturally, with their bond, Cassie also came to discover Jules’s secret: she was an astrologer. She made her swear to keep her identity a secret, and Cassie naturally said yes. She loved her, and she may have been the only person who loved her back; what reason would she have to hurt her?
One day, Cassie’s lies stopped working.
It was another day of Cassie using the excuse of checking if the workers needed discipline…. But coincidentally, on that day, there was an accident in the cave system Cassie had lied about going to. Concerned for his future heir, her father hurried to the scene, only to be shocked to realized that she’d never been there at all. Furious, he contacted his connections around Throdia City to search for her. It didn’t take long for him to discover that Cassie had been discovered with other people her age. In an effort to stop his heir from getting distracted, he tasked his subordinates with finding dirt on Remus and Jules. While there was nothing too incriminating found on Remus, there was evidence on Jules being an astrologer after her belongings at her home orphanage were investigated. He immediately went to the Chevaliers to report her, claiming that the evidence he had was from Cassie himself.
Jules was arrested the morning after, and received the Divine punishment promptly.
Soon enough, Cassie had found out what her father had done, and she finally snapped after all the years of him trying to dictate her life. When her father organized a dinner at their family mansion, she saw a chance to have her revenge. She slaughtered everyone at the party, leaving her father for last to taunt him. She was enjoying this. She let flames from the  fireplace pour out into the house, burning all the evidence of the massacre as she used her full moon ability to command her father to stay in his seat. As they were surrounded, she willingly dealt the final blow with a few words:
“Your heart’s stopped.”
Cassie walked out of the flaming house into the night, finally feeling liberated. With all the bodies at the scene burnt beyond recognition, she was pronounced dead, presumed to be among the ashes. But for the next two years, Cassie would remain within the shadows, soon returning under a new identity: Kallen Antonescu. Using the business strategies she’d learnt from her father, she’d start a new business, and quickly grew in size and power. She would take charge of her own business now, with a motive to drive her. While Cassie was in hiding, mourning over her loss of Jules, she’d had an idea: she could find the legendary tomb of Alexandria, the first Skirmisher. With the supposed remains of Aurelia’s godly power there, and the sisters being the only beings to have powers relating to time, Cassie thought that maybe, just maybe, if she’d found the tomb and harnessed  Aurelia’s remaining power there, she could change the course of time; change her life. She could twist time so that Jules could’ve never been arrested, and that they could have a chance together. It was a motive anyone would call mad, but by this point, after having realized just how she could abuse her power, Cassie had grown so cocky that she just didn’t care anymore.
With the knowledge she had leftover from her childhood on running a buisness, she soon returned under a new alias: Kallen Antonescu.
youtube
Kallen Now:
So, she's now Kallen Antonescu. What does she get up to these days? What's her motive to keep going?
Ok, here's a little bit of a lore drop idk if I've mentioned before.
The Sisters (aka the gods of Arphene) both have their own abilities.
Ophelia can see into the future.
Aurelia into the past.
There's a popular hypothesis, or rather, legend that's been around Arphene for centuries. If the Sisters's powers are combined, it could manipulate time.
Enter Kallen's delutional ahh
Now, there's the legend of Alexandria's tomb (context in the link below).
Considering the traces of Alexandria in the mines of Throdia, so powerful to have created a new species (post for the future lmaoo) Kallen believes it to be true. She's managed to successfully seize control of the mining city Amerton underneath Throdia city so far for her plans; she's overthrown the mayor (keeping his son, Gerard Cabot, AKA Bucky around due to a deal) and now she's gatekeeping the mines.
Why?
Kallen wants to try and manipulate time. With her having the power to control people, albeit using fear, she’s become obsessed with control. And she wants to control her life. With how she was raised, her father played a huge part in mentally breaking her, not to mention she’s still a bit obsessed with her past. Still a bit obsessed with Jules's love that she at some point had for her. She wants to change her past… perhaps change time itself.
Anyways
Misc Fun Facts!
She can take her skirt off to reveal pants underneath for swordfighting
BEAST at fencing
Her unpredictability made it into her rep
Miss girl is 39
Got inspo for her writing a lil after reading wuthering heights (pack it up Heathcliff)
Her voiceclaim is Black Swan from HSR
Magic type is crystals
Ty for reading about my mentally ill bisexual ❤️

REMUS LORE DUMP
I'M FINISHEDDD making this quick because I need to go to bed
Backstory
Orphaned since birth, Remus grew up in Throdia City Orphanage. From a young age, he’d already figured out that his Full Moon Ability was the ability to teleport anywhere he wanted, and being a troublemaker he’d take great advantage of that to mess with people. A few notable incidents were him stealing bread from the orphanage’s kitchens. He was used to being alone; stealing food meant for everybody that was hard to come by didn’t give you the best of reputations. That all changed, however, when he met Julianne.
He remembers the day that she arrived clearly. How the 13 year old looked so tiny bundled up in her father's coat. They’d clash a lot at first. Jules was stubborn, and that didn’t really go well with Remus’s carefree attitude. That’d all come to a halt, however, when after an argument, to prove a point, Remus tried teleporting to another area of Throdia. It didn’t go well. When he didn’t come back, the Chevaliers were called.
It took two weeks for Remus to be found in Carret, an arm missing. It had blown apart due to the sheer power of his ability being too much for his body to handle.
That was when he really realised how much his power put a strain on his body.
Jules was wracked with guilt. When he was brought back to the orphanage, she stayed by his side during he was made to rest in bed, feeling responsible over what happened. It was there that the duo finally started bonding, talking to each other about their shared feelings of isolation at the orphanage. And thus, they became each other’s companions.
R - “I have no friends. Never did, to be honest.”  J - “I can see why.”
When the duo were a little older, both began taking part time jobs at a cabaret. Jules became a performer, having the talents to do so due to experience being a ballerina, and Remus as a stagehand. It was dull, but at least the girls who visited were pretty cute.
One day, he discovered that somebody was embezzling extra funds from his earnings, after getting suspicious that the envelope with his pay was seemingly resealed. When he went after the co-owner, who usually gave out all the payments he just brushed it off. Naturally, Remus had to nose around a little after this. Turns out the old bastard had been shaving a little off of the payments of the employees he deemed as below him.
It wasn’t difficult to prove him guilty.
It was this incident that led him to realise how satisfying it felt to serve justice. He had grown up in unjust situations… So what if he could set things right for others? Thus, he chose to join the Chevaliers. It was the easiest way to live out his dream, he thought… At first
Turns out it wasn’t meant to be. Remus clashed with the rules and ideologies of the Chevaliers a lot. He hated that they didn’t try looking for both sides of the story, and that ideology of his caused quite the stir. He ended up quitting to do his own thing. He was going to work under his own rules; do justice his own way.
And so he now works as a private detective. A detective with some arguably… Unethical practices.
Misc Fun Facts
Reason his arm blew apart is because back when he made that far teleport he was pretty weak and thin (just like the other kids in the orphanage they were fed poorly), he’d prolly survive making such a jump now because he’s built like a bear
Filthy ladies man back when he was a teen towards his Mid Twenties and now cringes about it whenever Jules brings it up
Smokerr
Can canonically travel to other dimensions but it puts such a strain on his body that after the jump he'd most likely be in a coma for a few days
Married to a Chevalier named Dorothy, I will talk about this more in the future on how this  happened I promise-
I will never stop bringing this up but he was almost a bloody enchanted skeleton, gave up on that concept because I didn’t have the anatomy skills so now he’s just some dude
Always felt like clowns would creep him out (sorry to my clown stans out there)

idk something I'd like to ramble on about but before I started to research names for my OCs I'd just steal first names that stuck in my mind for them from random pieces of media so for example...
Luculia - Stolen from a Violet Evergarden side character and honestly at the time did NOT realise at the time that the name was so rare but like I BARELY find many characters out there called Luculia
Enola - Stolen from Enola Holmes
Cassie - Stolen from Cassie from Skins
Jules - NOT proud of this because I really hate the show but I stole it from Jules from Euphoria name just really stuck out to me and then I branched off from there into "Julianne". Btw she and Luculia share a last name which I also stole from Violet Evergarden.
Bucky - Not really sure how this originally entered my brain's orbit actually but I blame always hearing about the Winter Soldier despite having never watched the film myself
Moral of the story: Random characters in media have really cool names sometimes. Steal them!

LUCULIA LOREDUMPPP (Bc I don't think I've done this properly for her)
Ngl I was gonna save this post for when I FINALLY redesigned Lu but w the state of my laptop rn and my abundance of projects I've gotten impatient and I love her and keep talking about her lately sooo
Backstory
Iris Meier was born into the beginnings of a less than ideal situation; a poor family in the more lower class area of Amerton. By the time her younger brother Aster was one, her father had already left the house, forcing her older brother Sage to have to step up and be the man of the house while their mother, Cecilia, neglected them. She never really learnt to care for her mother’s coldness, however; Sage more than made up for that with how much he tried. That didn’t really stop it from completely affecting her, however.
Her mother was like extra baggage. Even if she was in the background of her life for the most part, she still caused extra problems for the family, her drinking habits taking a toll on the money Sage earned to support his siblings. Over time… She really did start to see how messed up her home situation was.
And it kinda hurt.
Still, they had to live with it. It was difficult for Sage to move out and be able to have custody over his siblings, so they had no choice but to stay. At least their mother was usually out during the day a lot, typically wasting away at a local tavern.
But one day, while Iris was home alone, Cecilia came back earlier than expected.
She was drunk. And angry. Spotting Iris, she stormed over to her, and started verbally berating her, taking out all her frustration with her “failed” life on her. She’d never seen her mother like this. It scared her. Unsure what to do and panicking, she ran off - but Cecilia went after her, wildly knocking things over along the way. She reached the fourteen year old with ease, and tackled her towards the ground. Iris wasn’t sure what to do - was she… going to kill her? It was uncertain… but could her mother be capable of such a thing? And then, in a moment of weakness, she grabbed one of the shattered objects off of the ground… and slit her mother’s throat.
Blood spilled everywhere.
As Iris got up, she froze, watching her mother choke on the ground. It was like she stopped working as she struggled to process what was happening. Soon enough, however, Cecilia gave out her last breath - leaving a disgusted Iris alone with her thoughts. What would Sage say? How would he even react? What’s going to happen now?
Did she really deserve that?
Her legs carried her out of the house and into the woods as the world spun around her. She doesn’t know exactly how long she hid. Days? A week? She was too panicked to really think about it, hiding in bushes and madly trying to clean blood off of herself with filthy water from puddles during all that time. It was one evening however, after a good few days, when two particular individuals finally found her. Remus Ramobus and Julianne Bougainvillea.
They’d apparently gone out for Jules to do a reading of the stars that evening, when they came across the young girl, Jules picking up on the smell of blood. Sympathising with her, due to their shared background of being orphans and assuming she could be one (perhaps traumatised from a troublesome incident), they brought her back to stay at Remus’s extra apartment, where Jules had apparently been hiding out due to her curse. She’d end up staying after she warmed up to them; which was no easy feat. They’d been calling her “the kid” the entire time because she seemed so shaken up to talk.
When she finally gave them a name, she gave them the answer of Luculia.
Misc Fun Facts
Most likely has undiagnosed ADHD
She keeps a lot of flowers (fem urge to tie this in with her guilt like maybe she thinks if she can nurture she can't hurt)
Steals 1 cig from Remus everytime he buys a new pack, hiding them in a tin and smoking when she's away from Remus and Jules
Honestly a lil stuck in finding herself since the incident
Dancerr she used to love the atmosphere of Amerton's disco as a child
She is my oldest OC, used to be a Genshin OC (like a few others) who was basically a personality ripoff of Dazai from BSD with NO backstory until I realised her character writing was a joke and decided to do her justice at the time of writing I think Lu's like 4 years old??
Speaking of Genshin influence her magic type is wind! She was born on third quarter moons so pretty alright magic level
Weapon of choice is revolver(Remus influence)
Wants to be a witch (ORIGINALLY wanted to be an astrologer but considering Arphene lore it's risky af and I honestly just love witches)

Backstory
The Bougainvilleas were known as a prosperous and kind family. Living among the sunny hills of Sonnelar, they were known for being humble when it came to their wealth, and kind towards all that encountered them. Who would’ve expected for a ballet instructor and a merchant to make such a happy couple?
It made their loss all the more heartbreaking.
A carriage accident. One wrong turn among the outskirts of Throdia city sent the family tumbling down the mountain, crashing at the foot. They left behind one daughter, however. An early adolescent named Julianne. Due to her lack of other familial members to take care of her, she was shipped off towards Throdia City Orphanage.
It was hardly an easy adjustment. Within a month, Jules went from luxurious mealtimes to measly scraps provided by the orphanage. It wasn’t difficult to say she was in for some hard times. However, she eventually found a close friend in the most unlikely form of Remus Ramobus, another child at the orphanage. Despite a rocky start in their relationship, the two would end up forming a close bond that would follow them both through life.
During her new life at the orphanage, Jules found herself missing ballet. Not wishing to lose one of the last links she had to her parents, she went one day to seek out lessons for herself. It was rather easier than she expected to get into a school; Being the daughter of an instructor had left her with some rather useful knowledge.
Over time, after a few years with the school, Jules and an occasionally visiting Remus would begin to notice whom they assumed to be a patreon that hung around quite a few times. A mutant woman who’d always loiter around the halls, yet never seemed to watch any of the performances. It was strange… Too strange. One evening, Jules couldn’t contain her curiosity any longer, and stayed behind after her lesson to investigate further, just to shake that feeling of suspicion.
She followed the woman into an attic room above the theatre which to her surprise, housed what seemed to be an astrology room. It was easy to deduce - Telescopes had quite a stigmata around them. In all her curiosity, however, she forgot to hide herself, and the woman quickly spotted her snooping around… But she wasn’t upset at the intruder, strangely. Introducing herself as Dore, she sat Jules down, and started speaking to her. She still thinks of her words often:
“Now perhaps this doesn’t mean that much to you. This is what’s wrong, right? The wrong thing to do? Perhaps that may be true. But this is still an art, an art that must be protected. Have you heard of the statement of history repeating itself? Seeing into the future is a means of learning the chain of events that makes history. It serves as a lesson in itself, but you can never change the future. Being an astrologer is about bracing yourself for what comes. Accepting fate. Accepting what comes. Astrology is just our way of knowing, to prepare ourselves for that fate.
“Now I’ll let you go, don’t worry, but you mustn't tell anyone a word. Understand?”
Jules left confused, to say the least. Why was she so calm? Why did she act so familiar around her?
Something beckoned her to go back, no matter how she tried to move on. Plus that whole conversation had left her with a lingering curiosity for astrology. Accepting fate? Preparing for that fate?
She thought of her parents - How they’d passed so suddenly. If she knew about the future… Soon enough, she was leading herself back towards that attic.
And so, Dore started giving lessons to Jules before lesson hours began, during the morning. To practice outside of lessons, she was given a telescope. She knew she had to do her best to keep her identity as an astrologer a secret, even from Remus. It was too risky in a place like Throdia City.
But that all began to come crashing down when she met Cassandra Chavanne.
Cassandra was a girl who came from one of the great families on the Cornerstone Committee who frequented the cabaret Jules and Remus occasionally worked at to sneak out. When she noticed a girl around her age coming so often, she decided to try and get to know her. Over time, they got close. Maybe too close. Trouble was coming for her if she stuck around with a girl like Cassie, she knew that. But it was too late to help herself. She was already in love. And being in love with her, she trusted her. So she told her that she was learning to be an astrologer.
They really meant everything to each other at the time. Of course, sometimes Jules wonders if she was blinded by the affection she was recieving. Especially with what became of them both. Was it love? Was it lust? Honestly, she was too young to really dwell on it before it was too late.
It was a typical morning. Jules got up bright and early as she typically did to go to another one of Dore’s lessons, but as she was preparing, a group of Chevaliers barged into her room at the orphanage.
“Julianne Bougainvillea, you are under arrest under suspicion of being an astrologer. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say may and shall be used against you.”
And so, she was taken away from her home for the last 6 years. Remus followed her closely as she was taken, screaming that she was innocent until they threw her into a carriage for her trial.
She doesn’t remember exactly how long she spent in custody, shaking on the floor. Nobody was allowed to see her, so she depended on her thoughts of everyone to help her get through it. Gods, Remus. She didn’t deserve him. He must’ve been fighting to prove her innocence at the moment. Dore must have known somehow, she was always ahead of things like that. And Cassie. Oh Cassie - Would she be waiting? She was always eager to see her.
She was still awaiting her trial when Remus teleported into her room. He was panting - He must’ve come through a lot to get to her. Seeing him gave her just a little more faith, and she was about to embrace him out of relief when he asked her.
“Tell me you aren’t one. Tell me that the telescope under your bed wasn’t yours.”
Damn it. So the Chevaliers had been investigating her all this time. How much did they know? Jules struggled to find words to explain herself. What was she supposed to say to her closest friend whom she’d been hiding her secrets from? That silence said everything to him.
“... Why didn’t you tell me in the first place, then? You know I don’t care.”
“It’s risky, Remus. You know what it’s like for astrologers. My teacher made me promise to keep it a secret too.”
“Wh- You have a teacher!?”
Jules cringed. Noticing this, he sighed and looked away. “... It looks bad Julie, really bad.” He turned his head to the side as he addressed her one last time.
“I can’t help you, not anymore.”
And just like that, he was gone within another one of his portals.
The day of her trial arrived. Standing in the middle of the room, underneath the only window, she looked down as she heard the judge read out everything. The telescope and her notes from her lessons were the most incriminating pieces of evidence. No mention of Dore, but that was Dore for you. Mostly good at covering up her tracks. What really threw her for a loop, however, was who was credited as the person who had told on her to the Chevaliers.
Cassandra Chavanne.
She suddenly felt as if she’d just taken a drop. What? Cassie did this?
Before she could completely process what was happening, the clock struck 12. It was time for the Divine Punishment. The sun aligned perfectly in the window above her, and she suddenly felt as if her entire body was on fire. She was burning. She was burning. She almost felt as if it would never end until she was pulled out of the sun’s rays.
Jules tried her best to take everything in, suddenly feeling hyper-aware of her surroundings. Her eyes stung horribly, but even through squinting them she could already notice changes. Her skin was a pale sickly purple. She could easily whiff out the injured within the room. And more importantly…
She had been banished from the sun.
A few hours later, she was thrown out. Her throat was dry, but god forbid she hurt anyone in her thirst. She couldn’t… Could she? Jules needed to see a familiar face to make this all better. Remus probably didn’t want to see her. Cassie had betrayed her.
… Dore.
After waiting until sundown, she bolted towards the school. It was difficult to resist the people around her, but by the skin of her teeth she managed to withstand her newfound urges until she got to the now empty attic.
Dore was gone.
Jules sank to her knees. Nobody. She had nobody. She’d lost everyone. She could’ve lost it there and then, but then she spotted the letter left on the ground. She vigorously tore it open.
“Julianne. I’ve left Throdia City following the news of your arrest. I’m so sorry child. What happened to you couldn’t have been prevented, it’s inevitable for a lot of astrologers.”
“Here are where our lessons end. I’ve shown you everything you’ve ought to know, and it’s up to you now to decide how to navigate this new world of yours. Just because you've been beat down does not mean you should give up so easily. You aren’t dead after all, and you’re still so young. There’s things you have yet to do in this life. You just need to define them.”
Jules got up. She needed to find Remus.
