Gillion stared up at Chip, gazing at him with some sort of determined look in his blue eyes. It was an expression Chip witnessed often, but didn't entirely know the meaning behind. He just tilted his head a little, letting out a small "Hm?" with a small quirk of an eyebrow. Gillion extended his arms out towards Chip, indicating what he wanted in a nonverbal manner. Chip, still exhausted from the encounter with Captain Widow, and just everything that transpired as a result, took one moment, two moments, to process what his best friend was asking for. He lets out a small puff of laughter, before responding. "Hug, Gill?" The nod from his trident friend confirmed, and Chip was all but ready to comply, when a small droplet of blood slipped down his chin, reminding him all too well of his condition. He felt about as fine as one would in such a situation. But he knew what he was. Undead. A walking corpse. The very thing he was well aware that Gillion was built to oppose. So he hesitated, before stuttering out. "I-I don't think you want a hug from me, Gill. I'm covered in blood, and horror goop, and I'm all cold-" He notices the careful expression on his co-captain's face break a little, revealing for a moment the genuine feelings of Gillion Tidestrider. Agony. And then Gillion's arms are wrapped tightly around him, pulling him into a close embrace. Chip can feel the subtle trembling of Gill's ear fin, pressed up close to his cheek, the shuddery breath that he lets out, as he very hoarsely, like he's holding back so much more, whispers. "I don't care."

I know we're all traumatized from the whole heart thing, but how would Ollie and Lizzie react? I haven't seen much talk about how the grand berry pirates and Ollie's family would react (I am pretending Enza is like his wine aunt).

Imagine Ollie running back to Enzas when he realizes the teloporter activated to see a bunch of new people that he knows the captians helped. Imagine him meeting Star or Zamnia and asking about Chip or the other pirates and how they would react. Would they see this small miniture chip and say that they helped them get rid of an evil piratecrew and Ollie proceeds to tell the others about the Riptide Pirates adventures while everything got sorted or would they sadly look down at this little boy and begin to explain the events that occurred with captian widow but before either of them could finish Ollie is out of the house barely holding back tears.

And what about Lizzie? How would she react? Imagine the grandberry Pirates running into Star and Zamnia and the two realizing Lizzie knows Chip. Imagine them sorrowly having to tell Lizzie about what happened to Chip because they know they can't hide it from her and that she deserves to know (I am not saying Ollie doesn't deserve to know). And how would Lizzie react to learning Chip, Her little brother is Half-Dead. Even if they aren't related, Chip is still her little brother, her little brother that went missing for Years before they were reunited. Would she begin to cry? Politely excuses herself? Or would she push it down again because it was only a matter of time until he got himself killed like the rest of the Black Rose Crew? Like Arlin?

I am just saying we have a bunch of potential Angst fics..

“We’re still good right? Even though I killed so many like you?” Gill asks.

So many other. So many unlike me and Jay. So many… inhuman things. Things I was taught to despise with my entire being. Things that I can smell for miles on end and will kill with glee. That’s what Chip hears in that moment. “Yeah sure we good.” He can’t say anything else, because this is Gillion. Because he hasn’t changed! Stop saying he changed! Stop saying he’s dead! Stop saying it’s real. It’s not! It can’t be! Its reversible! He will fight until it’s reversed. He’s not OTHER! He’s not INHUMAN! He’s always been different sure, but not like this. Not like this!

He doesn’t realise what Gill is actually saying. I am willing to forego everything I know for you. I will rewrite my understanding of reality and good and evil and everything that has defined me for my entire life. I will forget it all for you. Because we are still friends. We will always be friends. I will fight my biological reflexes, ignore how my body revolts when looking at you like this. You are Chip. You are my co-captain. You are my friend. You are still you. It’s the wrong timing, it’s the wrong words. But Gillion has always been like that.

But Chip doesn’t hear that. He leaves the room, he rummages the chambers of a great leader for anything that could help. And when he finds nothing he turns to the one person he knows can do miracles. Because if there’s one thing Chip is terrified of more than being roped into a deal with a man who seemingly runs this world, it is being othered by the only people he ever saw as friends.
