✧ Polaris ✧ - Jotaro x Reader
PART 9: Get to Know You
— The previous parts of the fic can be found in the pinned post of my profile. Hope you enjoy! —
Tumblr media
I rise from the dead yet again! But sorry for the wait! College's been rough with the workload but I've managed to put out a new part! No warnings this time, just joot's emotional development and a bunch of jotaro and reader fluff interactions~ But what if I told you that there's 2k+ more story over in my AO3? It's exclusive over there because it contains my OC's lore (aka the character the reader's standing in place of here). However, I promise you it's worth reading with jotaro gradually learning to open more to you and both of you just basking in peace. Regardless, hope you enjoy!
word count: 2.6k
Bright light dawned beyond his shut eyes.
Already? Jotaro stirred from where he lay on the grass, flexing his arms to stretch, though he did expect his left to be a bit heavy. Through his early morning squinting, he turned to the spot where a girl should be lying only to find it unoccupied and his arm free.
“Morning~”
Jotaro sat upright and turned to look at you sitting cross-legged across from him. He quickly swept his gaze over you to check how you fared- faintly flushed cheeks, puffy eyes, fixed hair, smoothed-out uniform. You appeared good compared to the state you were during the night prior but-
“How are you feeling?”
You looked up in thought, humming as you planted your hands on the ground to lean on them. “Better? But admittedly still like shit. As expected, I couldn’t sleep for long and ended waking up shortly after falling asleep but,” you glanced at him with a soft smile. “Company was able to get me through the hours.”
Jotaro nodded once at the words with the smallest of smiles on his face responding to yours.
“So yeah. I somewhat patched bits of myself back to… this.” You gestured to your body with one sweep.
“That’s good.”
You tilted your head with concern. “How about you?”
The probable bruises spotting all over his back and arms as a result of the chaotic whipping ached at the mention but he paid no attention as he shrugged with casual ease. “I’m fine.”
“Jotaro,” he paused at the mention of his name. He stared into your eyes and felt the weight of your gaze towards him. One that, paired with a gentle smile, carried an array of sentiments unable to be conveyed through words. “Thanks for last night. Really…”
You had a lot going on behind your confident strides, and to this moment Jotaro has yet to know about them. But with the shared look of trust between him and you, he was in no hurry to figure them out.
He tipped the visor of his hat down as a sign of acknowledgment and as means to cover his warming cheeks.
“Alright,” And as if nothing happened, you were up and standing with a clap and dust of your clothes. “Enough with the sappy stuff, we should head back to the others. They must be starting to think we did something freaky last night knowing them.”
Getting up as well, Jotaro rolled his eyes at the thought of the Crusaders poking fun at them for the nth time. “Definitely.” Though, by the feel of the mellow sunlight on his skin, it wasn’t too late in the morning and a bit more exchange of words would be nice before returning to the annoyance that was the group itself.
It’s been a while since you’ve properly talked to him like this after all.
“Let’s?”
He nodded, shoving his hands into his pockets.
With you leading the way back, they both returned to the main campsite and was greeted with the bizarre sight of Kakyoin dropping what looked like a literal piece of shit into a bowl Joseph’s breakfast pudding, before offering the bowl to the old man to feed the evil-faced baby with enthusiasm.
Jotaro didn’t question what the reasoning behind it was nor did he care that much, though you were about to if it wasn’t for Avdol, the moralistic guy that he was, politely telling you that infant was devious for some reason and what the other student did wasn’t entirely wrong.
You glanced at Kakyoin’s arm, read the “BABY STAND” carved on the skin, and understood, joining them to watch the whole feeding happen.
Polnareff woke up minutes too late to witness the child suffer from feces-tasting food.
Letting that be a bygone, the Foundation managed to track the group by the time the sun was high in the sky. In two separate teams, one transported the grimacing infant to a nearby village while the other brought the Crusaders to a remote island where they would wait for another vehicle departing for Egypt.
A submarine if he heard right.
The island itself wasn’t all too bad- Fine sand, lush tropical trees, and the tranquil ambiance of the sea. Jotaro wouldn’t mind waiting here. In group fashion, everyone kept themselves preoccupied to pass the time. The Frenchman ran off to god knows where, you and the older adults engaged in simple conversation, Kakyoin probably went to look for Pol to make sure he didn’t get himself into any trouble-
While Jotaro was left sitting by himself on the sand, a lit cigarette in hand when finding some temporary peace in the near-rhythmic crash of waves.
It felt… strange.
Even though he’d asked for breaks numerous times during their battles, a weight grew heavy on his shoulder at the fact that with each passing second, his mother’s life was slowly dwindling away and all the times they got blocked off by either an enemy or mundane inconveniences were seconds thrown away that could have been used to further progress this damn trip.
He took one long drag of his cigarette and sighed deeply, letting out a small plume of ashy gray into the air. All those times he cursed at her, dismissed her motherly affections, downright ignored her… Jotaro placed his hand on his nape, scratching lightly as if it would alleviate the rising guilt in him once he realized what he’d been doing.
What was this for? Why was I so mean to her when she did nothing but love and care for me? For a well-kept facade I didn’t even want in the first place? He hated that it took a life-or-death situation for him to ponder like this. Mom… I should call her soon…
“The young Joestar is in deep thought I see.”
Jotaro snapped out of his thoughts to notice Avdol taking a spot beside him. “So?” He took another drag.
“There’s nothing wrong in self-reflection from time to time,” he said. “For someone in their youth, all this chaotic fighting and constant travel must be starting to make you wish you’d be in school right now, right?”
“It’s fine,” the teenager shrugged. “School sucks and it bores me.”
“The high grades Holly-san told me you got throughout your academic years says otherwise.” Jotaro grumbled something incoherent that he himself didn’t know what the words were. “You’re thinking of her, aren’t you?”
“It’s shitty to think about how much of an asshole I was…”
Avdol chuckled. “I’m not going to say you’re wrong. You definitely disrespected your mother most of the time all of us were in the same room together, but as terrible your behavior was-” he patted the delinquent’s shoulders. “I know you still love Holly with all your heart. You wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t the case.”
Jotaro remained silent. He wasn’t wrong…
“Toss all my other wisdom talk aside if you wish, but I hope this advice would stick with you,” Avdol turned to his clasped hands. “Holly’s still here and when you return to her, I suggest you let her know how much you love her the way you can instead of pushing her away. Cherish the ones you love while they’re still here with us.”
If it were weeks ago, Jotaro would have done what Avdol said seconds ago and dismiss this sagely talk as nothing but some sort of “respect your parents” propaganda. Oddly enough, he didn’t feel the urge to ignore his words now that he’s stuck worrying over his mother’s life.
The spark in his cigarette dimmed down to ashes. “What’s with the random inspirational speeches? You a counselor or something?”
The Egyptian smiled. “Teacher actually. If I wasn’t doing readings or fortune telling, I worked with children, especially the troubled ones, and guided them with the right knowledge and values to live through life. That is until DIO found me and I had to seek Mr. Joestar for protection.”
Jotaro scoffed. “You see me as a kid then? Is that it?”
“Are you not? You’ve yet to mature past your rough edges after all.”
He clicked his tongue, thought not entirely disagreeing with the adult. “Whatever.”
“An answer expected from you.” Avdol stood. “You’ll understand when you’re older. Who knows? You might be a teacher in the future as well if fate deems it to be.” With that, he walked back to the others and left the reserved teenager alone with his thoughts.
Yeah right… like that would ever happen. Time continued to pass as he remained sitting on the sand, mulling over what Avdol had said to him together with memories of his mother stirring in his thoughts. At some point, Jotaro had dozed off, leaning on his propped-up knee with the remains of his cigarette left somewhere on the sand beside him.
When he came to, the sun was halfway down the horizon, dimming the sky above as the stars slowly made themselves visible. He expected to wake up by himself as is the case every time he took his naps, but with one glance to the side, he found you watching the sea beside him.
You noticed him staring so you spoke. “You’re awake.”
“I assume the sub’s not here yet?” The pointed stare and silence you gave him the answer. He sighed. “Figured.”
“Mr. Joestar and I took one stroll around the place and there’s a bunch of neat little hideouts on the island you could have slept in. It’s more secluded and quiet, has enough wind to keep cool, and the grass is short enough to not be itchy,” you said. “Why choose this spot by the water?”
“Ambiance,” he said in return. “I like the sound of waves. It’s… calming.”
He took one glimpse at you to gauge for your reaction. You weren’t looking at him when you had that soft smile on your face as you had this faraway gaze facing the mellow movements of the ocean. “The waves make me relax too. It’s what helps make it so beautiful aside from its glittery surface.”
Jotaro thought about what you said to him back in Singapore. The ocean looks beautiful, don’t you agree? Fresh from his talk with Avdol, he couldn’t help but be nostalgic for a second. “Mom used to take me to the beach when I was little… usually when I felt like shit. And it helped somewhat.”
“Lucky you. My birthplace is by the sea and by this point, you already know I had a rough past. So, I’d watch that huge body of water sway with the breeze and let myself listen to the waves as a mean for comfort.” This time, you faced him and locked his gaze with yours. “Looks like we’re not so different from each other, huh?”
“You tend to overshare though.”
“But you’ve gotten used to it by now, huh?”
He shrugged. “A bit.” A bit? A complete understatement considering his level of tolerance to her numerous bouts of talk. “But it’s either that or spend the rest of lunch bored out of my mind.”
You cooed, cupping your cheek with a small tilt of your head. “Are you saying you miss the simple times of lunch with yours truly? Or am I hearing things?”
Though he hated admitting it, he thought about what Avdol said and with some heat to his cheeks, Jotaro tipped his hat over his eyes and gave one small bob of his head. Not allowing him the silence to wallow with self-embarrassment, you giggled as you shoved him lightly.
“And here I thought you wanted this bitch to shut up.”
“Don’t flatter yourself.” Jotaro looked at you this time, finding some sort of relief in the fact you blushed deeply at the sentiment despite the teasing you were fond of doing to him. “I still prefer some peace and quiet.”
“Hey I’m not judging,” you raised your hands. “Not when I also miss our mini rooftop breaks. It’s… a nice breath of fresh air. Literally.” You let out a breathy laugh, eyes closing from your smile.
Jotaro could feel his heart beat a bit faster than before. One that always came with warmth on his face, his hands turning clammy and his stomach feeling a sensation similar to that of fluttering butterflies. It happened more often the more they made progress to Egypt.
Fuck. I don’t want to think about this. He took in a deep breath and sighed, blurting out the first thing that came to mind to divert the subject away from the familiar banter. “Admitting you like the smell of smoke now?”
“Huh?”
“It can’t be a breath of fresh air when I smoke next to you every time.”
You rolled your eyes. “The winds blow them away from for most of the time so I don’t really care, but don’t think I’ve noticed you’d smoke less and less the more we hung out.”
Jotaro cocked an eyebrow and fished through his pockets, pulling out a pack of cigarettes. To prove a point, he flipped the lid open to reveal five sticks remaining inside out of 20. “I beg to differ. This is my 3rd pack this trip.”
Which was a lie. It’s his first and is this empty only because Polnareff wanted some to smoke and practice the delinquent’s parlor trick for the nth time.
“Yah!” You leaned forward to try and snatch the box off his hand. “Are you trying to kill yourself on purpose?!” You swiped again only for Jotaro to lean back and stretch his arm away from you with a smug smirk. My turn to tease. “You can’t do that now, we have unfinished business!”
“I don’t care.”
You deadpanned. “Liar. Now give me.”
Without anyone noticing, you ended up sprawled over his lap still struggling to reach for the pack of nicotine in his outstretched hand. Too preoccupied with making sure your grabby hands won’t reach it, Jotaro didn’t notice the slim strip of rose-gold creeping up behind him to snatch the box off his hold.
The delinquent clicked his tongue, crossing his arms. “You cheated.” Though you didn’t care as you leaned back with cheeky smile and tiny shimmy, pack of cigarettes now in your hand. “Doesn’t matter. I can always buy another.”
“To practice your little cigarette trick for the masses?”
“I can do 5 at once.”
“Shut up. You’re lying.”
“I can show you.”
You scoffed, tossing the box back at him with defeat. “Unbelievable. You really do have a death wish.”
Jotaro grew acutely aware of how much closer you got to him without you noticing, so close that he felt his shoulders brush against yours and the back of his hand overlapped with your smaller, softer one. His chest tightened and his pulse increased yet again beneath his aloof expression.
As the two of them watch the sun set below the horizon, he stilled as you leaned your head on his shoulder. Respecting the quiet air of the area, you said to him in a hushed voice. “I’d rather you not die on my watch. I don’t think my heart can handle any more of those.”
You said it with nonchalance and a smile, but he knew better. He slowly turned to glance at you still facing the ocean. Any trace of playfulness you had minutes ago dissolved, making way for that tone of sadness and longing to make its appearance just as it did prior to your breakdown.
Under the touch of your hand, his fingers twitched ever so slightly, wanting to graze your skin as minuscule means to soothe you. But Jotaro had a feeling you just needed company and nothing else at the moment.
He allowed you to rest your head on his shoulders, peacefully watching as the sky grew dark and its stars started to twinkle.
“I won’t.”

"You look good." Jotaro says, his eyes fixed on your hand stitching his arm. It's been five months since you woke up one day to find his side of the bed cold, empty, and unmade. Jotaro had broken up with you shortly after that over text. He said that the two of you just weren’t working anymore. Now, Jotaro is inwardly grateful for the hat covering his face, as it hid how unhappy he's truly been since he left.
“Thanks, you too.” You say curtly. The silence between the two of you was awkward and deafening. So many unsaid words hung in the air like fresh laundry. You promised yourself that you wouldn’t feel angry when you saw Jotaro again, but you couldn’t help it. Questions ran through your mind at a mile a minute. Why did he leave? What wasn’t working? Why didn’t he tell me in person? Too many questions in so little time, so you didn’t ask.
“How have you been? You know since…” you trail off, alluding to his abrupt departure.
"Fine," Jotaro grumbles. He looks down at his arm as you continue your work. He's so thankful to be in your presence again, to hear your voice, to know you aren't completely gone, like so many people he loved, but he can't let you know how much this is upsetting him. He couldn’t afford to be weak, weakness was unnecessary and time consuming. Weakness got you killed. Jotaro had to be strong, just like the people counting on him call for him to be. Even if it feels like his heart is crumbling right in front of him with every second that passes.
"You?"
You sigh.
“To be honest? It’s been tough, but I’ve been pushing through.” You shrug. Jotaro’s heart clenches at the thought of you struggling in any capacity, but it hurts more because he knows he was the cause of it.
"You've been pushing through," he mutters, taking a breath and closing his eyes.
"You're tough." God, Jotaro thought. I feel like such a dick for calling her over here. But he didn’t know who else would answer. There was no one else who would answer.
“This one might sting, hold on.” You look up at him before making another stitch. He winces.
You wince, you never liked seeing Jotaro in pain. Even now, it hurt your heart to see him flinch or wince in pain.
“Sorry about that.” You finish two more stitches before rising from a hunched over position and stretching your back.
“Stay here, I’m gonna get you a bandage.” You walk over to the first aid kit you brought to grab a bandage to cover his arm. You come back to where Jotaro is.
“Give me your arm.”
"I'm already holding it out," he snaps. His voice is cold, but it doesn't hide the tinge of hurt he feels underneath. He doesn't look up to meet your gaze, and you wonder if it's his pride or his guilt that keeps him from doing so. Either way, he holds his arm up to you, his hand steady now that his body has processed the pain.
You sigh, already tired of the undeserved attitude you received, but you understood him.
“Please, not today.” You mutter. You wrap his arm carefully.
“I’m all done. Do you need anything else?” You ask, a small part hoping he would need something, anything else. Seeing and touching him in such a long time made your heart feel full again, but you knew that when Jotaro decides on something, you would have to go through hell and high water to change his mind.
"Nope," Jotaro says. The arm is wrapped in gauze, the bloody needle thrown away. He sighs, and suddenly, that small part of him wants you to ask him about his day, what he'd had for breakfast, anything. If you wanted something more, you knew that you'd have to be the one to broach the subject. To broach the subject of whether or not he wanted another chance. As it is, he's holding the door open for you.
“How was your morning?” You ask, clearly not wanting to leave his presence just yet, but who could blame you?
Jotaro narrows his eyes as he considers this, the corners of his lips lifting minutely.
"Fine." He's not quite sure what to ask you in turn, and he can't stand the silence.
"Yours?"
“It could’ve been better.” ‘With you’, you wanted to add, but decided against it. You sigh, walking out of the door reluctantly, wishing he would say something about the two of you. Even now after everything, you’d still take him back. It sounded bad, but you felt as if the love you and Jotaro shared was a once-in-a-lifetime thing, and you never wanted to give it up.
He watches you leave, and it takes all of his willpower to not call you back into the room, to say he’s sorry, that he’s regretted every moment he woke up without you next to him, to admit that he would call for you in his sleep sometimes only to wake up only to be hit with the harsh reality of his choices. But that would be weak, and Jotaro had no time to seem weak. Weakness was time consuming and worthless. The look on your face tells him that he's hurt you in a way he can't undo, and he couldn't stomach the idea of bringing you anymore pain and unhappiness by getting you involved with him again. Jotaro watches you go, waiting until you're gone to let out a breath of exhaustion.
As you walk down the hall, a stream of tears fall down your face. What was the point of it all? Did he bring me over to hurt me all over again? Before you knew it, you were already angrily walking back to his door, knocking furiously.
“Open this fucking door!” You say, tears rushing down your face. Jotaro opens the door with a shocked and pained expression before quickly masking it with his usual cold and nonchalant mask.
Jotaro jumps, then freezes.
"U-" he begins, unsure of what to say. He takes two steps back from the door, knowing you're a force to be reckoned with, especially when you get upset.
"What do you want?" he asks. His voice is cold and neutral, hiding the way his heart is racing in his chest. On the inside, Jotaro thanks whatever higher power that his voice didn’t betray him.
You walk in, pressing a finger into his broad chest.
“Why’d you tell me to come here, hm? Five months, Jotaro. Five fucking months! Not a word from you. All I got was a text saying that ‘we weren’t working’. What wasn’t working? What was the problem? You just up and left! You left me! You left us!” A mix of anger, pain, hurt, confusion, and frustration paint your features.
“That’s not fair Jotaro, and you know it!”
"And this is? What the fuck did you want me to do?" He asks, a bit incredulously. It's hard not to be hurt by your anger, even though he knows you have every right to be upset. Jotaro crosses his arms over his chest, but doesn't retreat any further.
"It's not fair for me to put you through all the stuff I did. The nightmares, the anger, none of it. I did it for you. You shouldn’t have had to deal with that, Y/N."
“But I was willing! I loved you- no scratch that, I love you despite all that! I thought we could’ve helped you together.” Your voice breaks.
“You don’t think I would’ve left if I couldn’t handle it? Was it me? What was it that made you leave?”
A part of him wants, no, craves to open his arms to you, take you in, apologize, and tell you that you'll make it through this together. But the greater part of him wants to keep you safe and unhurt. You deserve the world, but how can something so hurt and damaged give someone like you their love?
"It's not you, Y/N," he says, his voice quiet.
"It's all me. I didn't think I was worthy to have your love. I still don't." he says guiltily, almost as if he was a child who was caught messing with something he shouldn’t have.
“You don’t get to decide that! I do. I decide who to give my love to, Jotaro. I’m the one who deems people worthy of loving. And I deemed you worthy a long time ago.” You sniff, not as angry but still a bit hurt. You felt for Jotaro, his time in Egypt had taken a toll on him. But you couldn’t excuse his behavior.
He looks at you, your kind eyes, your understanding heart. And he sees himself as a broken monster, filled with rage and malice and despair, and he wonders how someone can love a beast like that. If he took you back, all his wounds would inevitably bleed onto you.
“Y/N,” he says softly, like you were something fragile he was terrified of breaking,
“You can do better than me. Why would you choose… this?” You grasp at his chest and shake him back and forth.
“Don’t you get it? I don’t want better. I want you! I want you, Jotaro.” A small, wistful, hopeful laugh escapes his lips.
“Why? Why would you settle for something like me? There are so many people who could love you better than I can.” He doesn't understand why you would want him, but by god, it feels like maybe there's a chance. A chance to try again, to start anew.
“Because I don’t know how to love anyone the way I love you. It’s always been you. I don’t want to have my pick of anyone else, I want you. In all your brokenness.” You move your hands from his shoulders and cup his face. “I love you, Jotaro. I couldn’t think to love someone else.”
He stares back at you, his lips parted. His heart is pounding in his chest, and every instinct in him is telling him to kiss you, right there, so you could see just how sorry he truly was. He doesn't do it, but his fingertips rise to touch your cheek, his thumb caressing the side of your tear stained face lightly.
"Y/N," he whispers, and the way he says your name tells you everything you need to know.
You pull Jotaro into a long embrace, kissing his temple.
“I don’t want anyone else. Just you. Just Jotaro.” You say quietly, but loud enough for him to hear me.
"Just me?" he asks. Tears prick his eyes at the thought. You would really put yourself through the ups and downs of dating a man like him? Even if your feelings for him are true, there are many times when he's cold and distant, other times when he's kind and loving. It was all worth it for you? He didn’t want to believe it, because that would leave Jotaro with one conclusion. He was worthy of love, and life.
You nod.
“Just you, forever.” You were willing to go to hell and back for him, and he knew it.
"Forever?" he asks softly. His hands cup your face, and he lowers a delicate but loving kiss on your lips before he can convince himself to stop.
"You'd really accept that deal?"
Your heart feels complete once again during the kiss, though Jotaro was a man of few words, but you understood everything he said through the kiss. You nod your head.
“A million times if you asked me to.”
"I don't know what I did to deserve a woman like you," he says, leaning his forehead against yours.
"But I'll take it."
A small laugh bubbles up your chest and comes out of your mouth.
“I love you, Jotaro.”
"I love you too," he says back. A million times over. He thinks he might cry from relief, but he doubts it.
You wipe the remnants of your tears from your face.
“I wish you would’ve told me this was how you were feeling, but I understand why you didn’t. Egypt and Dio have made you tough and closed off, but there’s still a softness in you. That’s what makes you human. I don’t want you to feel like you have to be Jotaro with me, I want you to be Jojo.” You say.
"I can do that," he says, a small and tentative smile gracing his face. He is Jojo, not Jotaro, and he's going to make sure you have no doubt of that.
"But you know what happened to me," Jotaro adds,
"I’m broken in a lot of ways. Are you okay with that?"
A soft and fond smile grows. You nod.
“I understand that, and I’m ready to love you despite all of it. I knew what I signed up for the first time I told you that I loved you.”
Jotaro blinks back tears.
"You were so easy to love," he says softly, "I still can't believe you'd put yourself through my hurt and anger and darkness because you love me."
You raise your pinky finger to him.
“We’ll get through it together, just like we always do.” You say with a soft smile.
He links his pinky, eyes shining with love. "Together."

“We don't have to do this.”
You glance at Clementine then back to the outside of the glass elevator, watching as you go higher and higher. Your grip on your hands becomes tighter due to being nervous. You gave her a fake smile turning to her, “No, we should. You deserve to meet your father.” Even if you did want her to meet her father, you wished she wouldn't have brought you along. Not only was the feeling of guilt heavy but anxiousness. You were scared of being confronted by him. You hated it when he’d give you a heavy gaze. It always made you feel small.
The elevator chimed as the doors automatically opened, allowing you to step out. Clementine walks out then stares back at you, still in the elevator. “Mom?” she gave you a look of confusion. You felt as if your legs were glued to the floor. “Coming.” You speak. Your legs felt like jello, and you fall. Clementine caught you before the impact of your fall. “Mom!”
Your clutch on her hands tightens, “I'm fine, baby.” you reassured both her and yourself. “Let’s find your sister.” you changed the subject quickly, to not talk about your uneasiness. Clementine nods, taking out her phone quickly calling her sister, “hey Jolyne, where ya at?” you can tell jolyne was talking to her. You couldn't understand what she had been saying.
“Jolyne is near that Chinese restaurant.” Clementine points over towards the restaurant next to us. Your eye catches a bizarrely dressed woman waving at you, “Ah, that’s her mama!” Clementine practically jumps in joy.
Clementine runs to jolyne and they embrace each other in a hug. They giggle letting each other go, clementine turns her attention back to you. “Jolyne, this is my mom y/n.” jolyne gives you a small smile reaching for a handshake, you place your hand in hers and give a firm shake. “Nice to meet you miss y/n! Clem talks about you non-stop.” you snicker glancing to clementine “is that so?”
A tall woman comes from behind jolyne. “Trust me, she never shuts up!” another woman stands next to her drinking from a large plastic cup. “I’m Ermes, this is foo.” foo gives me a small wave.
Now all the girls stood in front of you, you had a better look at their appearances.
Jolyne had her hair in space buns, parts of her hair were dyed green while the other was a raven black. She had the same aquatic blue eyes her father had along with his thick eyebrows. Comparing jolyne and clementine, you’d say clementine definitely won the genetic lottery. Clementine had long ebony hair, she was tall, about six feet, the only difference between her and jotaro was her eye color.
Jolyne looks over to you and announces, “dad won't be here for an awhile. He'll I'm sure he won't even come.” she grumbles with a scowl. “Let's go shopping as we wait!” Clementine always is optimistic.
Eremes folds her arms, “hell yeah, we could go to forever 21, hot topic, bath and body works...” she continued. You couldn't help but feel annoyed, why wasn't he here. You were both upset and glad. Glad you weren't facing him and having to talk about this whole mess. Upset because clementine wanted to meet him already.
You followed the girls as they began to go into shops. You judge the girl's outfits and helped them pick out the earrings that suited them the best. You all we're having a fun time.
The group was walking to another store until Foo came to a halt with a gasp. She ran to the aquarium, “let's check it out.” you all agreed and explored the place.
After a long walk in the aquarium, you head back to the entrance. “Dads in here.” jolyne points out surprised. Jotaro stood tall looking at a group of angle fish, he seemed fascinated with a hand placed onto his chin. You felt as if you were going to throw up your breakfast. It was really jotaro, he looked as stunning as ever.
He started back at you noticing your presence, he appeared to be a bit taken aback at your appearance. You aren't ready for this! What would you say? Did you even look good?! Without you noticing jotaro was already standing in front of you.
Clementine had a large smile that spread from cheek to cheek. “Yo, old man.” jolyne greeted her father. Clementine opened her mouth to speak, yet only a small “hi” left her mouth.
Clementine grabs jolyne hand and bolts off, “alright we're pretty hungry, we're going to eat something, you guys catch up!” they left in a matter of seconds leaving you and jotaro standing together dumbfounded.
Jotaro turns to you, his stare is hard. His body shifts towards you, he had his full attention on you with no sign of putting his attention on anything else.
“We need to talk.”

Jjba characters switching bodies with their s/o
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: Body swap with their s/o! Some freaky friday shit! :D, It’s basically a work of a stand! ;), yeah all my inspiration is from the movie ‘Your name’ I rlly love that movie sm made me cry huhu, if u haven’t watched it srsly watch it its gud Disclaimer: Body swapping, possible pervertness from characters lmao, all characters are aged up! gn! reader, and mentions of killing from Dio's headcanon Header photo:  Namaikizakari
Part 3 Characters body swapping with their s/o + DIO
Joseph Joestar ❀ “AAAAAAAH!” Joseph would screen and look at the mirror to see that he was in your body? What’s happening! Was it a stand user that did this? Eitherway he even tries summoning your stand but instead he ends up getting his same stand, hermit purple? Weird. ❀ He’ll probably blush at the fact he’s temptedt o look at your body but he has no time for that! He rushed out of his hotel room and quickly find you to see if you got in his body and his deductions were correct, you were also freaking out since you were in his body and Avdol was trying to calm you down. ❀ Once he steps in Avdol immediately widens his eyes and questions if he was Joseph and he managed to confirm that he was joseph and Avdol conclucded that both of you swap bodies because of a possible stand user. ❀ You two have to deal with it the whole day and Polnareff always reassured you two that it’s going to be fine, not a big deal though he does laugh and tease at the both of you sometimes. ❀ Since you’re in Joseph’s body you wear pretty fashionable clothes because ur cool and hot. ( ;) i love u reader -author) While Joseph wears more of your plain clothes just a shirt and pants, but he still wears his hat. ❀ You two eventually got separated from the group and found the stand user and managed to attack ther user and returned back to your bodies. Jotaro Kujo ❀ He’ll be staring at the mirror and let out a “tch”, he already knows this is a work of a stand user, he just stares at the mirror for a long time and then walks out of his hotel room, calmly but still wearing your pjs. ❀ Once he enters to the room he was in his hands would be in his pockets, Kakyoin would be helping you think on how this happened but looks at Jotaro who was in your body and his eyes widened and kakyoin was right you two did switch bodies. ❀ When you where in a hunt from the stand user who did this to you and Jotaro you wore his turtle neck only and with no jacket and no hat, he decided to wear his hat with your body and he wore one of your leather jackets since it fits him compared to his original jacket. ❀ Girls would circle around you and you would flirt with them back because it’s funny to see Jotaro annoyed that you’re having way too much fun being him, “It’s not that bad being you” You would say and he would just scoff and tell you to not enjoy it too much. ❀ He was having a hard time being you as well since you look like an approachable person compared to him so a lot of people advertised products to you or if not foreigners asking for him and other things like that and honestly you would answer it for him. ❀ You two eventually got attacked from the back from the same stand user that switch both of you, and good thing that it doesnt switch your stands so you two managed to beat the stand user and Jotaro had to change back to his uniform. Kakyoin Noriaki ❀ Honestly he wouldn’t notice it for a bit and then when he does he quickly looks at the mirror and then starts processing it all and quickly rushes to his shared room with Jotaro.  ❀ He wakes you up before you even freak out and you’d be freaking out back in your own room. You two start thinking what made you two switch your bodies and you both agreed and concluded that it was probably a stand user they met the night before, but who? They met so many people the night before. ❀ It was honestly fun that you two were trying to figure out the puzzles of this mystery, but after a few hours pass by you two went to the others to inform them a stand user switched both of your bodies, it was only 9 AM at this time so you all got breakfast and tried thinking of ways to find the stand user. ❀ You wore different clothes for Kakyoin, his uniform was too hot and you couldn’t handle the heat of the sun already so you wore more comfortable and thin clothing, just a long sleeves polo shirt but you folded the sleeves, he honestly didn’t have much different clothes, only his pajamas and his uniform then extra polos. ❀ He in the other hand actually dressed up pretty nice with your body, he had good taste in clothing. ❀ This whole experience got you two closer together honestly, before you two wouldn’t really talk that much so the fact that this whole freaky friday thing is the one that made you two close is kinda funny but it was alright since you two knew a lot of things from each other just by talking the whole time you two looked for the stand user who did this. ❀ When you two encountered the stand user everyone else in the group was behind so they help you two defeat the stand user and got swapped back to your bodies, and unlike Jotaro he wouldn’t really change out of the clothes you wore for him since he wanted to be polite and it actually suited him. Muhammad Avdol  ❀ he sweats and gulps as he looks at the mirror, he started thinking about how this happened? ❀He came to your room to see you in his body and talking to Joseph that you were you, and he confimed that the both of you seemed like you two switched bodies. ❀ Joseph went to call the others and everyone had a meeting in Joseph and Avdol’s room and you all tried recalling what happened yesterday or yesterday night and who you all encountered and spoke to. ❀ Polnareff would be teasing that Avdol is a lucky guy and jokes about weird things and Avdol would just defend you and say that this is serious even though Avdol is a bit flustered that he switched with you. He just doesn’t experess it my guy. ❀ You and Avdol got separated a lot from the group but you two manage to talk a lot, and just like Kakyoing you two learn a lot of things about each other. He wore simple clothes of yours and you wore clothes that were also simple because it was hot again and you still can’t handle too much heat since you might faint or something. ❀ You two struggled but managed to defeat the stand user which made you two switch back to your original bodies, you two would probably prank the others that you’ll be stuck with each other’s bodies forever and pretend to act like each other just to get a reaction from the rest. ❀ You and Avdol had fun picking on everyone making them think you’ll be switched forever, Polnareff kept comforting you two thinking that it’s actually real but you two are so good at acting that Polnareff got fooled. Jean-Pierre Polnareff ❀ This guy is a pervert honestly and would just be flustered if u are are girl he’d probably just stare at your boobs. ❀ Yeah but he’s a pervert, but he still doesn’t peak unless he obviously needs to change his clothes in your body. ❀ You would always remind him to have no funny business and Joseph would also wack him to not do anything weird and he’ll just say “Ow! I haven’t done anything!” or some other comments. ❀ You honestly just wore his clothes because it’s good enough for the heat, but he in another hand wore a tank top for you and shorts or if not shorts with jeans and there was nothing wrong with it just seems like you were going to go swimming or something but you shrugged it off. ❀ He would continue the constant teasing and how he actually likes being swapped with you and that you two are fated to be since out fo all the members you two were the chosen ones and you’d chuckle at his comments like this. ❀ He would flirt with other people even when he’s in your body which makes you wack his head sometimes and remind him that he was still in your body just in case he was forgetting. But despite this he’s been kind and polite to you and made you laugh a lot during the time you two switched bodies, this is where you two got closer than ever. Sure you knew him before but you two never had an actual conversation, usually you two would exchange just a few comments from and that’s all you two ever did, including the flirt. ❀ Once he finds the stand user he quickly chases them until he corners them and you do the finishing touch. You and Polnareff change back and he jokes about being upset that he isn’t you anymore and how he enjoyed the experience. You two would still talk about it in the future since you two found it funny. DIO ❀ This man is a tsundere for you, a good one though. Despite that he’ll still charge to his room where you were in, and you were in his body. He yells at you for doing this and you yell back that your stand doesn’t even have this specific ability. ❀ He tries to command Vanilla Ice to look for the one responsible for doing this to the both of you, but since Vanilla Ice just saw you and he didn’t notice that it was Dio in your body, thus he didn’t follow him and just looked at you instead and asked what you wanted to do to Dio. ❀ You have fun being him because you are in high power but he still had the world stand so he technically still has power to control you and you would scoff at this and Tell Vanilla Ice the whole story that the two of you switched bodies and even revealed that you two switched stands and Vanilla Ice was frustrated to hear that one of Dio’s followers did this to the two of you so he immediately got to work. ❀ This meant you two were stuck to wait with each other, he also forced you to tell every follower of his to not step into the room yet since he didn’t want to look like that in front of everyone it makes him look weak and you would roll your eyes. ❀ This man was still cocky though and comments that even though he is in your body he still has the power of the world, and that he can quickly just destroy all the Joestars and their team by pretending to be you and acting like a innocent person. Though he also stated he wanted to defeat the Joestars with HIS body because he kinda wanted the credit of killing the Joestars even though for some reason he sent his followers to kill them for him but you didn’t think too much of it. ❀ You secretly would walk out of his room and ask his own followers for a lot of things, like to get luxurious food or prepare a nice bath and they would find this weird since Dio was technically a vampire and this was out of character of him but you were so good at being Dio that you found so many excuses to their questions. ❀ You would actually put on some clothes while Dio just wears the same thing you wear earlier. ❀ After bantering each other for a long time Vanilla Ice finally defeated the stand user and you two switched back and Dio complained how being you is pathetic and you seriously cant take his comments seriously so you just insult him back, ilke I said this man was a tsundere but he kinda he enjoys being your body he found it really hot, he just doesn’t want to admit it, and he really thought this was an advantage to kill the Joestars immediately but sadly he already told you to request Vanilla ice to find the one responsible of all of this so  he couldn’t do much. ❀ You two continue your lives as a person who assist Dio because Dio forced you to, and with him bossing you around which makes you wanna kick his face but you still continue your duties

(The bio says that requests are open but if they aren’t, feel free to delete this!) Jotaro’s sibling (whether his twin or just a younger sibling) nearly dying/getting severely hurt during the adventure and both of them trying to process it as best they can. Light angst - nothing too heavy around here! I’m just a sucker for sibling stuff.
Ask and ye shall receive my child.

(Had to add grandpa in there too because I love this part of the SDC OVA 🥺)
It’s so cold, but they won’t let you stay.
They constantly push you away from their warmth, even though you’re trying to fight to go where they are. You don’t want to go back to the cold that’s waiting for you. No matter how many times they tell you that if you return to the cold it will warm up again.
Baby... please breathe!
“Please darling, go back! She’s calling to you!”
“I don’t want to! It’s too cold!” You broke free from the hands trying to keep you away, crying when your path was blocked.
Please fight!
“No! Go back love. It ain’t your time yet!”
“Please don’t make me go! It’s so cold... I don’t want to be cold anymore!”
No matter which way you try to run, they stop you. You try to cling to a dress, or duck underneath an arm, nothing deters them from trying to make you return. The older one is strict and swats at you when you try to cling to his wife’s dress. Another one, young and blonde, asks his grandfather for assistance in corralling you. The other one with the scar helps the two. In the meantime you hear voices calling to you from the cold. They sound familiar, you’re sure you know them from somewhere. But you want the warmth that awaits you with the ones trying to push you away, if only they’d let you through. Maybe if you’d slap the tall top hat off the man and dodged between his grandson’s legs you’d be home free...
Just as you attempt to try, a hand wraps around your wrist and pulls you into a warm, familiar chest. You beg and plead with your captor. You want to go with everyone else, the coldness you want to leave behind is seeped in pain and suffering. It’s easier with her and the rest of them.
Don’t leave me...
“My love, look! Your mother wants you back with her. Just go.”
It’s your captor’s husband. You try and reach for him but his normally welcoming arms are closed off to you.
“Sweet pea it’s time to go back to them!” She insists, enlisting the help of her son when you struggle and cry.
“No! No I don’t want to go back! I want to stay with you!” You can feel the hot tears streaming down your face. A voice continues to call your name but you pretend like you don’t hear it.
I need you... I need you!
“Don’t let me go back there all alone...” you sob.
“You will not be alone.” She insists, and you can feel her dragging you back to that cold path.
“I love you so much.” She coos.
“If you love me you’ll let me stay!”
You try one last desperate attempt to play on her heart strings, maybe if you guilt her into keeping you with all of them... but it doesn’t work. She pushed you forward into the cold maelstrom, the snow storm howling like wolves and drowning out the noise of everyone in the warmth telling you they love you too. As her voice fades away, the calls that wait in the cold get louder and louder.
The last thing you remember is her sweet words:
“We all love you. You will never be alone, I will be with you always. I love you. You hurry back and be good! Tell your grandpa to take you home, that Granny said so… you tell him to stop pouting and make sure you’re loved... we all say so-!”
Papa! Mama! Come quick!
It’s like being born all over again. Your lungs are burning with your first cry of pain, you have no control over any facial movement, let alone any type of movement. You want to open your eyes, or at least let the tears stream down your cheeks freely. Even your crying sounds infantile. You fight the ventilator they have you on, struggling to breathe on your own even though it doesn’t feel like you can draw a breath to save your life. It hurts so badly. Everything does. Your legs, hands, arms, head, so many things feel broken or frost bitten, and you want the warmth you were surrounded by.
They’ve pushed everyone you love out of the room by the time you’ve come to, and the doctors don’t seem to care one way or another if you’re lonely. The kind voice of the one who sent you back is nowhere to be found. She lied to you. No one is going to stay with you. All you can do at this point is cry. Cry for someone to come get you and help you.
You spend the whole night and most of the morning alone, save for a few nurses that come in to assist you with the ever embarrassing prospect of changing your catheter drainage bag. Every so often, they have to clear the mucus from your lungs. It’s arduous and painful, and makes you gag every time. There’s no way you can eat on your own now. They’ve told you that the doctors don’t want to take you off the machine just yet. It will most likely take a couple weeks to wean you off, so for now all of your meals are taken courtesy of a tube they put down your nose. You’re not sure what they’re feeding you. It’s not like you can taste anything, but you sure feel the coldness going down the tube in your throat. When you whine, they discuss warming your food in the future. Like it’s an afterthought.
No one allows you visitors until you are fed and given pain medication, and then, it’s only one person for an hour per day. Your mother is the first one in, shuffling towards you quietly and whispering your name.
Holly can’t hold you like she wants to. She wants to cuddle you, kiss you, try to comfort you, but all they allow her to do is hold your hand. After hearing her encouragement, you realize this whole time she was the one calling out to you, telling you how much she needed you.
“Baby… you did it!” She encourages every small milestone, smiling and wiping the tears from your face and dribbling her own on you.
“You made it through the worst of it, I’m sure you did. You’re going to get better. And when we get better, we’re going back to SoHo with your big brother. Won’t you like that my love?”
All you can manage is to squeeze her hand. SoHo… Even the name makes you feel lighter. It’s when your heart beats faster at the prospect that the doctors and nurses usher your mother out of the room all too quickly, each one fussing over you and helping to only make the situation worse.
Time blends together. It feels as though sometimes you can only tell the passage of time by who has come in to see you. Your grandpa comes after your mother, he seems strained, angry, but he reassures you that everything is fine when you make your sad eyes at him. He still holds your hand gently and tells you that you’ll be ok. Nonna Suzie echoes his sentiments on the next visit. The nurses even allow her to kiss you, and you can make the tiniest whimper when she says how much she loves you. She says the same thing your mother did: you’re going home with all of them after you get better.
“Nonna got you some beautiful outfits to wear on the plane ride home. And we have your room all ready. I’m going to make you something special to eat, anything you want my love. Ok?”
A weak whine. Your only affirmation. After she’s ushered out of the room you close your eyes, wondering who else will come to see you. It alternates between your mother and grandma, your Grandpa’s appearances are peppered throughout but they don’t often last too long. Joseph is troubled, mind miles away now that he knows you’re ok. Even Jean Pierre stayed to see you recover. He insists that he’ll stay in New York with you for a short time to make sure you’re back on your feet.
It’s hard to measure time in visits at first. Eventually you start getting better at being able to make out details like the clock on the wall. You expect everyone at certain times. The nurses to change and clean you between each feed. The doctors to monitor your progress. Your feedings of breakfast, lunch, dinner. And your visits which are always after breakfast.
They start letting in more than one person in at a time. It’s mostly your mother and Nonna. You notice that your mother looks strained, holding Suzie’s hand and yours the whole time they’re with you. Grandpa and Polnareff come together, but Grandpa never stays long and will kiss you absently.
It’s not until they take out the feeding tube and the ventilator for good that Jotaro comes to see you at last.
Thus far, they have you on so many meds you don’t do a whole lot of talking. A few grunts, murmurs of “uh huh” or “no” if you can manage. So it wasn’t as if you could ask if Jotaro even made it through the carnage. He looks like his usual self, save for a scar or two and a cast on his arm.
“Bubba…” your first words are his nickname. He doesn’t smile. Just takes your hand in his and kisses your knuckles softly.
“You ok?” He asks.
It takes too much effort to shake your head no, so you whimper it out. He sits closer to you, Jotaro’s love language has always been his presence, but you notice now he’s trying to let you know he’s there by touch. He lets go of your hand after a while and begins doing little things like wiping the sweat from your brow or smoothing out your hair.
“... it’ll be ok.” He says.
His voice is low. You appreciate the fact that your stoic big brother wants to be near you now. After what happened both of you seem to be unsure of what to say to one another, you have a lot of burning questions now that some of the pain is gone.
“... happened...?” You manage weakly.
He hesitates. Just for a little bit.
“... They said you had a lot of bad breaks. No lacerations, some internal bleeding. Skull fracture though, but nothing that required them to shave your hair to operate. Your Stand... the ice protected you from the worst of it. It kept growing. Said that you had some areas that were frost nipped though. You have some spinal injuries and your legs are braced. They also said you wouldn’t remember what happened.”
That was true. You didn’t remember much of anything before you woke up. Vaguely you recall some little key points, but it’s nothing that Jotaro seems to want to push. He tells you that as soon as it was over, Holly woke up and your ice melted. By then it was a matter of rushing you to the hospital where they said you might not make it out alive. Grandpa had gotten on the horn with Suzie Q and Holly. As relieved as he was that his daughter was alive, he knew this might be the one chance she had to see her own child. You were still in a deep coma by the time she got in to see you. Now that Dio was gone, she was able to get anywhere she needed to a lot faster. Granny followed her, had been taking care of her as best she could when your mother nearly lost her will to live seeing you so beat up.
Apparently you’d almost died a few more times. Your heart seemed like it was struggling to keep up. At one point it did stop, and you remember the numerous people telling you to go back to everyone.
But that’s not something you think you’ll tell anyone anytime soon.
“We’re not going back to Japan now...” he says.
“Why?”
They tell you that you’re going to the penthouse in SoHo nearly every day, but they don’t say why. You hadn’t been looking forward to returning to Japan, but in some part of your mind accepted it.
Jotaro leans back in his chair. He looks stiff and agitated again.
“... mom and dad are getting divorced. The whole time you were out, she tried to get a hold of him. Jiji pulled a few strings and got through, but he said he couldn’t leave the tour now when they were almost done. Told mom that you’d pull out of it and he’d see you when you got home...”
Good old dad. You thought. You could literally be dying and he’d insist you’d be ok and he’d see you later on. What would have happened if you had literally croaked, you wonder dryly that he probably would have said “oh, I’ll see my kid at the funeral”, then probably send his regards the day of by letter.
“Mom snapped.” His words make you refocus on what’s happening instead of the what if. “She... I never heard her get that angry in her life. Called him a worthless piece of shit, said that if you died and she caught him beating his chest about how much he loved you that she’d make sure his death looked like an accident. Told him not to bother calling back, or even to expect a home to go to once touring was over. She even told him that if you died, not only was your blood on his hands, but that he needn’t bother showing up to your funeral.”
It must have been bad... Jotaro even shudders at the memory, and you suspect that the version you got of the story is the PG version. You can’t imagine what she said to your father, nor can you imagine what would have happened if Joseph had been in the vicinity. Doubtless he’d made a few threats of his own. Probably why he couldn’t even stay focused on you during visiting hours. He was probably plotting his next journey to kill your “deadbeat Jap” father, as his racist tendencies would often so eloquently refer to your sire.
“Everything’s moved to New York now.” He continued. “It took them 24 hours. That was maybe three weeks ago. Now that you’re off the ventilator, the doctors said that they’ve got a plane ready for us to medically repatriate you stateside. At some point they’re going to do more testing. They’re going to continue to treat you in home. You’ll probably need to learn to walk again. Great Grandma is going to come and take care of you too. Says she might be able to help you get back to your old self again.”
His time is nearly up. The nurses and doctors are mad dogging him from the doorway. You can already feel that it’s time to have your drip bag cleaned and to try having a normal bowel movement, and by the looks of the extra doctors, it seems this must be the day they examine you for medical repatriation. Before he gets up to leave however, you both feel the icy touch of your Stand taking hold of both of you.
Well... looks like that little problem wouldn’t go away even if Dio was dead.
“Grandpa... tell grandpa...” you manage. You can already feel the pain coming as the doctors try to scold you for over exerting yourself. But Jotaro knows. He knows you need to tell him one thing before he goes back to everyone else.
You tell him the last words you remember. Queen of Swords smiling down on both of you without her helmet or veil on. It’s the first time you’ve seen her during this whole recovery period.
“Tell grandpa...” it’s an effort, but you’re going to try to get it all out at Queen’s encouragement. “Granny said take me home... make sure... love me... Granny, ‘n everyone said so...”
He notices Queen of Swords smiling at him. She looks roughed up, some of her clothes are ripped and each correlating arm or body part is frozen where you’re injured. Her long white hair is disheveled, fallen into a half ponytail where the rest of her long tresses trail down her back. But she looks happy, pets his arm and hums ever so gently. When did she gain this sentience? And more importantly, why does she look so familiar without her helmet?
“I’ll tell him.” He reassures you.
Joseph had to have been shaken from his icy demeanor, because by the next visit, he breaks the rules to hold you gently in his arms, telling you to tell Granny not to worry. He’s going to take you home and make sure you’re never going to lack for love again.
Queen of Swords smiles down on both of you, petting your grandpa’s hair and humming. It only makes him break harder, because it’s a lullaby he’s not heard since he was a small boy.
Granny Erina didn’t lie after all, you think to yourself as you manage to wrap your arms around your grandpa’s back. She didn’t leave me, not once.

Why are You Here? Jotaro x Reader Pt. 1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As a twenty-one-year-old mother, you opted to become a housewife. Taking care of household chores and your newborn baby, Jolyne while your husband, Jotaro worked as a marine biologist. Life for you was like that for about eight years till you thought about doing something else with your life. So after some thinking and debating with yourself, you decided to go to college and major in Veterinary Science. As a child, you had always wanted to be a veterinarian as your interest in animals and worrying about their safety was always prominent in your life. So bringing that dream to life after twenty years brought you joy and excitement. So here you were, up at 5:00 AM, laying in your king-sized bed alone preparing to get up for your first day at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Looking to the empty left side of the bed that was missing your husband left you a little dejected. You were hoping you would have woken up early enough to get ready with him. Yawning to yourself, you get up and heads toward the bathroom to freshen up. Setting the shower to the right temperature, you stepped instead and felt more awake than ever. While inside the shower, you started thinking about how college was going to be like. 'What if it's similar to high school? That was hell enough...' you thought in distress. Sighing to yourself, you fixated on finishing your shower and thought about getting ready to distract you from your nerve-wracking thoughts. After your shower, you quickly brushed your teeth and made your way downstairs to a big surprise. There he was, your husband, Jotaro in the kitchen making a cup of coffee. Now, Jotaro knew you were going to college as he helped pay for your tuition even though you said not to. He also knew you were going to one he was teaching at as he also recommended it to you. But what he didn’t know was that she was in one of his classes.
“Oh, Jojo! I thought you had already left," you exclaimed, hastily entering the kitchen to stand next to your husband. Grunting to himself his usual catchphrase, he looked at you before slightly grinning.
“I don’t leave the house as early as you think I do you. Besides I was going to give you a ride because we are going to the same place.” Blushing to yourself, a quiet thanks left your lips before you gave Jotaro a quick kiss on the cheek. Okay I need to make breakfast,’ nodding to yourself as to agree with your thoughts, you started to make your way towards the stove to make a simple breakfast of eggs and bacon for you and your husband to eat.
“Jotaro can you also make me a cup of coffee as well?” You asked, which in response you got a grunt that sounded like a yeah. After you finished making breakfast, you set up the dining room table with two plates of food while Jotaro brought the two cups of coffee. Both of you started to sit down and enjoy your meals. Even though Jotaro opted to eat in silence, you certainly did not. “Jojo, I hired a nanny to take care of Jolyne while I go to college and she will be staying with us in the guest bedroom until then.” Humming in response, Jotaro continued to eat, not knowing what else to respond with. Slightly huffing, you were hoping your husband would give you a little more attention and talk to you a little more. ‘Asking questions will only annoy him’ you thought. Realizing your attempts would be feeble, she just decided to stay silent and finish eating. Once the couple was finished, you took the plates into the kitchen to wash them with Jotaro not too far behind you. While washing the dishes, you could feel your husband come behind and hold you gently.
“Are you nervous?” He asked, kissing your cheek. Blushing again just like last time, you looked up at Jotaro with slight confliction.
“Just a little Joots. I mean I haven’t been to school in what? Eight years?” Sighing to yourself, you continued to wash the dishes. Rubbing your arms in response, Jotaro reassures you in his special way that she will be fine. After their little intimate moment, you check the clock to notice it's 6:15 AM and remembers to call the nanny. Detaching yourself from your husband, you made your way towards a wall phone in the kitchen and quickly dialed up the nanny’s number. The phone rang for a little while before the sound of the lady was heard. “Hi Anastasia, I just wanted to let you know you can come over now.”
‘Oh thank you! I will be there in about ten-fifteen minutes.’ Anastasia responded. Grinning to yourself, you quickly responded with a thank you of your own and a quick goodbye before hanging up. Turning around, you saw that your husband had left the kitchen. Confused, you leave the kitchen in search of your husband to find him sitting on the couch of their living room with papers in front of him. Slowly you walked up to him and sat next to him before latching onto his arm. “I got off the phone with the nanny, she should be here in a little bit.” Humming in response, Jotaro looks down at his wife for a few seconds before looking back at his disorganized paperwork. Noticing how unorganized the papers were, you offered to help but in response, you were given a quick no before he started to ignore you and continue organizing. Huffing slightly, you opted to make sure you had everything you needed before you could head out the door. Now noticing you left your bag upstairs, you quickly ran up the stairs to the master bedroom to retrieve it. Although before entering, you quickly checked your daughter Jolyne's room to check on you to make sure she was okay. Just as suspected, Jolyne was still in bed asleep surrounded by all you aquatic stuffed animals. Smiling to yourself, you quietly closed the door and quickly grabbed your bag from your shared bedroom. Running down the steps and looking through a bag probably wasn’t the smartest choice for you. Causing you to miss a step on the stairs and trip. But surprisingly, you didn't fall and neither did your stuff fall out of your bag. Feeling hands on the sides of your waist, you look over your shoulder, you noticed a tall purple ghost-like figure behind you. “Hehe, thank you star,” you giggled while walking down the stairs carefully. Finally reaching the living room from the stairs, you noted your husband staring at you intensely with concern.
“You alright?” He asked with a raised eyebrow. Nodding slightly embarrassed by the small situation that occurred only a few minutes ago. Looking at the pastel blue clock in the corner of the room showed that it was 6:45 AM. ‘Shit… Where is she?’ thinking to yourself with slight frustration. Although not even 10 seconds after you ’s little tantrum in your mind, she heard a knock at the front door. Blinking slightly, you quickly ran through the living room to the front door to see the one person she needed to be there.
“I am so sorry I’m late, I got sidetracked a little.” Chuckling a little bit, you reassured her and invited her inside. Giving a quick tour of the downstairs of their house. A few compliments were thrown in for the decor and a few thanks before they reached the living room that held your cold and stoic husband.
“This is my husband Jotaro. Jojo this Anastasia, the nanny.” Turning his attention to the short lady he gave you a little nod before picking up the rest of his paperwork. Blushing to herself, Anastasia hastily said hello trying to make herself look professional and also slightly seductive for the man in front of her. There was no doubt in your mind that the nanny would think your husband was hot. I mean almost every woman did. “Alright Jolyne is upstairs asleep so please wake you up around seven-seven thirty, please. There also should be a list of things for you to do in the kitchen on the counter. If you have any questions, my number is on the list as well.” Anastasia nodded taking in the information given while also taking small glances towards the big man standing up. “Alright, thank you so much again. Jojo, we should get ready to leave.” Humming in response the couple started for the front door towards Jotaro’s white SUV. Sitting in the passenger seat, bag in hands, you felt a flurry of emotions consisting of excitement, worry, and also determination. The drive to the university wasn’t that long because they live close to the beach anyway. Unbuckling his seatbelt on the driver's side, Jotaro exited the car waiting for his wife in suit. Noting that she didn’t he sighed out a ‘yare yare’ before walking to the passenger’s door and opened it for his wife.
“Hey, you’ll be fine.” Looking up at your husband, you sighed and got out.
“I know I know, just first-day jitters.” Receiving a hum in response once again, you kissed Jotaro quickly on the lips smiling,” I’ll see you during lunch?” Nodding, Jotaro reciprocated the kiss and started walking towards the university, with you not too far behind him. Entering the building, you noticed that your husband was nowhere to be found and she was left all alone. Opting to ask someone, you slowly walked up to a tall woman with fair skin and freckles. Red hair to your shoulders and green eyes that are as green as leaves on a tree. “Um, excuse me…” you asked the fair lady. Turning to the voice that called out to you she looked down and smiled.
“Yes, is there something you need?” Looking down for a second, you blushed in embarrassment,” Um I’m new here and just needed some help finding some of my classes if that won’t be a problem.” Smiling again, the taller girl agreed to help, making the shorter girl happy. “Here’s my schedule…” Looking over it the taller of the two looked very pleased.
“Ahhhh! Surprisingly we’re in some of the same classes. Looks like it’s your lucky day hehe. I’m Esme by the way.” you smiled thankfully to meet someone nice before sharing your name. “So it seems like our first class is Microbiology.” As if thinking for a moment, Esme continued to study your schedule before smiling softly. “Are you by any chance going into Veterinary Science?” Quickly looking up at her, you smiled brightly and nodded with excitement.
“Yes yes! I’ve always wanted to help and take care of animals ever since I was a little girl.” Eyes lighting up in admiration and excitement, Esme grabbed you ’s hands and jumped up and down with the excitement of a 6-year-old before saying, “Ahhh no way me too!!! Animals are just so cute, it breaks my heart seeing them injured.” you nodded in agreement before looking at a clock on a far wall of the University. Almost not being able to read it, you read what looked like said 7:36. Eyes widening, you quickly ask Esme to take you to their class before they are late. Noting your rushing tone, Esme realized they might be late. Nodding in response, Esme led you to their first-period class.
Barely making it, both you and Esme make their way towards some seats in the back next to each other. Once they sat down, you took into inventory how the lecture hall looked. Very spacious, but also very bland. Grey walls with a basic faded carpet floor. Rows of long wooden desks with a set of wooden stairs in the middle.
“Ahem.” Eyes forward you notice a man who looked to be in his 40s standing in front of the class in a nice white dress shirt, black dress pants, and nice black shoes. “My name is Mr. Brando, and I will be your Microbiology teacher this year.” Feeling an elbow jab to my side, you quickly turned to see Esme leaning over to say something, “He’s kinda hot.” Gasping slightly to yourself, you looked towards Emse with disbelief.
“Don’t tell me you’re gonna try and fuck him or something.” Slightly taken aback, Esme scoffs while blushing.
“Of course not! He’s just kinda hot..” Shaking your head, you turned to face Mr. Brando, only to find him staring at you intensely.
“As I was trying to say, I’m not going to be easy on you. This isn’t high school anymore where I would take pity on you. If you don’t have your homework, it will be an automatic 0.” Still staring at you with his intense gaze, he smirked and continued, “Any questions before we begin class?” ‘Why is he staring at me like that?’ you thought with a shiver running down your back. With no questions being asked, Mr. Brando started class. Two words went through your thoughts, ‘This sucks…’ Sighing, she continued to take notes and tough it out till class was over. While taking notes she couldn't help but feel eyes on you every 5 minutes. Looking up, you noticed Mr. Brando’s eyes are on you again before going back to looking at his notes. Noting your discomfort, Esme nudged you in a way to ask if she's okay. ‘God this is such a high school thing but whatever.’ you thought before ripping a piece of paper and wrote, ‘Mr. Brando keeps looking at me.’ Passing the note towards Esme, you looked at your face for any reactions. Going from shocked to disgusted. Looking at you with sympathy, Esme flipped the small piece of paper over and started writing your response. Once she was finished, Esme handed the note back and looked at Mr. Brando with intense dislike. Different from when she was practically gushing over his looks. Looking down at the note, you ’s (E/C) scanned the paper reading, ‘Yeah we have a few of those types of teachers. If he does anything, report him immediately.’ Nodding to yourself, you continued listening to the lesson.
The class was finally over. ‘God that was boring.’ you thought before packing up quickly to leave.
“C’mon we gotta hurry to our next class,” Esme exclaimed. Nodding while giggling, you grabbed your bag and walked down the stairs towards the door of the lecture hall with Esme.
“I noticed that this is your first year of college. I hope you enjoy it~.” Freezing, you turned around to see Mr. Brando stared at you with red eyes and a small smirk on his light brown skin.
“Um, thank you, Mr. Brando...” Grabbing your arm, Esme dragged you out of the room, feelings of disgust running through her. Once out, Esme immediately gagged.
“God what a weirdo. Why do the hot ones have to be creeps,” Esme whined. You weren't not paying attention to your newly acquired friend. Instead, you were more focused on why Mr. Brando kept staring at you in such an eerie way. Shaking your head to remove the bothersome thoughts, you continued walking to your next class.
Your next few classes weren’t that bad and some were pretty enjoyable. So now, you are heading out to have lunch with your husband.
“How was the first part of the day?” asked Jotaro. Feeling a small shudder shoot through your body, you looked at your husband with a slightly disturbed face.
“Well, I have a creepy Microbiology teacher. He stares at me a lot and says if I need any help ask him.”
“Who’s your Microbiology teacher,” Jotaro asked with his grip tightening around his plastic fork. Staring at his fist, you responded with the name that your husband dreaded the most. In just a matter of seconds, the fork snapped in half and the gaze from your husband made you shrink back a little. “If he does anything, and I mean anything, you tell me alright?”. With a nod, you continued to eat and talk about the rest of your classes she had so far.
Once finished, you kissed your husband goodbye and went to your second to last class. Entering the room of organic chemistry. Sighing, you decided to sit in the front so she could get to the door faster. ‘I can’t wait for my next class,’ smiling to yourself closed and closing your eyes imagining what might happen. A few scenarios were bad and some were good. Though she was just going to have to wait patiently.
“Hello class, I am Mr. Kakyoin. I will be your organic chemistry teacher this year,” a familiar voice said. Looking up, your eyes widened at the sight of your teacher.
“Noriaki?” you asked. The said person turned towards you with wide eyes and a smile.
“Y/N! It's good to see you! Let’s talk after class.” Nodding in response, you quickly started to engage in the lesson.
'My willpower to stay awake is scampering away... this is so boring.' You thought with disinterest. "And that concludes our lesson for today. Any questions?" Mr. Kakyoin finished with a smile. Noting the silence, he looked around to see almost his whole class looked bored. Sighing to himself, Mr. Kakyoin looked towards the class and said, “Just wait for the bell I guess.” Once the bell has rung, all the students except yourself have left the room to go to their next class. Walking over to Mr. Kakyoin’s desk, you grinned widely.
“It’s been so long Kakyoin!” Getting up from his seat, Kakyoin made his way towards you and gave you a tight hug.
“Y/N, we’ve been friends for years, call me by my first name.” Chuckling to yourself, you nodded in response. “So how have you been anyways?”
“Pretty good. I’m majoring in Veterinary Science. I would have gone to college sooner, but I had Jolyne earlier than expected… But I’m happy she’s here regardless. A bundle of joy is what she is! Anyways how about you Noriaki,” you rambled. Chuckling to himself, Noriaki responded, “You still haven’t changed huh Y/N? Still a rambler. I have been well, I’m married with a child on the way.” Eyes widening, you grab onto Noriaki in excitement, “Congratulations Noriaki! I’m so happy for you! How many months?”
“She’s about 4 months in.” The conversation continued on for what felt like hours before both realized you had to leave. “Here let me write you a pass. I had fun talking to you.”
“Thank you Noriaki, here take my number. We need to hang out more. Bye bye!” You responded before rushing off to find your next to class.
Finally making it, you stepped inside and saw what you have been the whole day to see. Your stoic husband.
“Why are you here?” Jotaro asked. Giggling to yourself you respond cheerfully, “This is my last clas….”
“Why are you late?” Feeling irked by being cut off, you respond again but this time with slight irritation, “I was talking with another teacher.”
“Yare Yare, take a seat.” Listening to the simple order, you sit down in a seat next to a cute looking girl in the front. You sadly, missed the first half of the lesson meaning you were already behind. ‘Great… I’m most likely gonna have an earful after this class,’ you thought to yourself. Feeling a tap on your shoulder, you turn to see the girl you decided to sit next to you staring at you intensely.
“Um, can I help you?” You whispered.
“I don’t know how you guys know each other? but I want to let you know that he’s mine.” Rolling your eyes, you nodded in response before paying attention to the lesson. ‘Damn my husband and god-like appearance.’
Another class that was a bore to be in.
“Does anyone have any questions?” Jotaro asked. Once again, a silence room of college students was what he received in response. Sighing in response, he waved them off and waited for the bell.
Once the bell had rung, everyone except you once again had left for the day. While you were still packing up, you jumped slightly to hands slamming down on your desk.
“Why the hell are you in my class?”
“Calm down Joots, I just chose this class because I need another credit…. and maybe because I wanted to see my husband at the end of the day…” Sighing in response, your husband looked at you before heading towards his desk and grabbing his stuff and heading out the door. “Waaaaah wait for me Joots!” You run out of the room only to bump into a muscular chest.
“Yare Yare, let’s just go home.”
Heading towards the car, you both get into your respectable seats and head home. The car ride was silent, but you can tell your husband is still not so thrilled about you being in his class. But knowing you, trying to change your mind to choose a different class would be feeble.
Once home, you both entered the house and was immediately greeted with a big hug.
“Welcome home mommy and daddy!” exclaimed Jolyne. Smiling brightly you hugged Jolyne back before walking towards the living room seeing Anastasia with Jolyne’s homework on the coffee table completed.
“Welcome home Mr. and Mrs. Kujo.”
“Thank you, how was Jolyne?” You asked.
“Oh she was wonderful. An absolute sweetheart. By the way, I have made dinner and it’s in the kitchen if you want to eat.” Thanking her once more you head upstairs to your shared bedroom to drop off your school stuff and sit on your bed exhausted. Hearing the bedroom door open, you see your husband standing there as exhausted as you.
“Look Joots, I’m sorry about me being in your class, but I'm not changing classe….”
“I'm not going to give you an advantage because you're my wife. I hope you know that.” Huffing in annoyance you respond with a quick yeah.
‘This is going to be harder than I thought.’
This is honestly pretty old and im probably going heavily edit it but i hope you enjoy the first part of this story.
How about a head canon? Josuke or jotaro reacting to s/o needing their attention ( do both individually)
Josuke Higashikata - Hey Stranger!
Hello! I’m really sorry for the late reply and I hope this will meet your expectations! I decided to go with Josuke for this one because I realised most of my work is dedicated to Jotaro (lol not surprised). Enjoy and thank you for submitting a request!
 Here you’ll find a brief headcanon and a little scenario:  ↓
Tumblr media
Neutral reader x Josuke Higashikata
Jojo’s bizzare adventures: Diamond Is Unbreakable
AU / Alternative Universe
SFW
Words Count: 177 + 1192
Song suggestion: Imprint, ZAYN
Josuke is 18+ here as throughout the scenario there are some minor, implicit hints at sexual things i guess ?? depends on your interpretation !! Hi! Are you a new reader? Check my masterlist for more content!
Please feel free to reblog or leave a comment :) help me support my art (it’s free!),
© bearing in mind everything I post/write is my intellectual property so please don’t steal/copy and paste and post it as yours.
HEADCANON
Josuke is very, very affectionate and definitely a cuddler.
He loves cuddles and just enjoys the physical feeling of his s/o’s skin touching his, wheter it happens during casual carreses, intimate moments, random hugs during the days or cuddles on the sofa. He just loves it.
Josuke is an HUGGER. He would always wrap his arms around his s/o body, keeping them close to him. Also, this boy would is pretty massive and I guess he’d take advantage of it to just rest his head on top of his s/o’s or leave random forehead kisses.
He would absolutely be the one to always create such situations. Whether at home or out in public, he is the most likely one out of the couple to lean in for some cuddles, kisses and everything as such.
So when it is s/o who reaches him for cuddles, he will be pleasingly surprised and will do everything to emphasise how much of a rare occasion it is. He enjoys it though and he just wants to tease his s/o a bit.
SCENARIO
Josuke would never miss a chance to show you how much he loved you. He adored the way your cheeks blushed whenever he wrapped his arms around your body or the way you smiled right after every time he kissed you. Little things like these were what really motivated him to always gravitate around you; he didn’t mind public displays of affections either, so it wasn’t strange for him to always create physical contact between the two of you. It would always intertwine his fingers with yours wherever you’d go, and theatrically pull you close just to stamp a passionate kiss on your lips.
He just couldn’t help it. Most people would define his behaviour as clingy, but you loved your boyfriend and the way he showered you with affection; you were grateful for it. All the attentions Josuke dedicated to you made you feel wanted, appreciated, loved; feelings that were almost unknown to you before Josuke came into your life.
However, you still needed some time and space for yourself, and Josuke always did his best to respect your boundaries. He knew you sometimes needed to have some you-time, which of course didn’t necessarily mean that you didn’t want him around. Sometimes you’d be reading on the couch while he played videogames in the other room, both doing something that you enjoyed.
Sometimes, he would just reach you while you’re studying and, sitting next to you, he’d whisper a soft “I promise I won’t distract you”. You’d smile away at the cuteness of his behaviour, letting your boyfriend lay on your legs or rest his head on your tummy while you’d continue to do your homework, trying to involve him and discuss the topic of your studies with him. He was always able to give beautiful insights, and most of the time he helped you reflect more on things you’d underestimate otherwise. Eventually, Josuke would try to provoke you and direct your attention to him. He knew you too damn well; he knew that leaving some soft kiss on your neck would make you melt in his arms and he would often use this against you. You just couldn’t resist him.
Other times, he would just throw a pillow at you. Not strongly enough to hurt you, of course. Once you’d reciprocate the throw, he would easily dodge the pillow and say something provocative like “Is it the best you can do? Really?”, causing you to just give up everything in order to show him how dangerous you could be. This type of things would always ended up with Josuke lifting you up, putting your body on one of his shoulders and declaring his victory while going towards your bedroom and eventually end up giving you a chance to win.
The relationship between you and Josuke never had a dull moment. The two of you always found a way to laugh together, engage in some bizarre adventures or just enjoy each other’s company.
Although Josuke was, for sure, the cuddly one of the couple, it didn’t mean you didn’t enjoy your boyfriend’s attentions.
“AAAH!!” you heard your boyfriend screaming, angrily walking closer to the tv screen as if he could just personally enter the game and change the outcome of the match he was playing.
You reached the room where your boyfriend was playing, leaning against the door’s frame of the room’s entrance. You observed him silently for a couple of instants, as he slowly returned on the couch sitting down again and starting yet another match. He was visibly stressed, struggling to win and reach the next level. He played for hours, and it didn’t seem as if he intended to stop anytime soon. The last time you saw him was at breakfast, and although you knew he deserved some rest and some time for himself, you missed him and you knew that playing that much wasn’t doing him any good.
Sighing, you slowly walked towards the couch, sitting next to him. He didn’t even look at you; he was too focused on the game, loudly pressing the buttons of his controller.
“Hey stranger, how is it going?” you said, raising an eyebrow at him and putting an hand on his left bicep.
“Badly.” he answered, never losing eye contact with whatever was going on with the videogame.
You rolled your eyes and slowly moved closer to him, making your way into his arms careful not to avoid any abrupt movement he would do while playing. Once you managed to do so, you rested your back and head on his chest, wrapping your arms around his torso. The muscles of his body were stiff; you could feel his back’s muscles contract under your touch. He let you make yourself comfortable in his arms, slowly relaxing his muscle as if he just started to release the built-up tension.
You smiled and slowly started to play with the hair at the base of his neck, running your fingers through his hair – something which only you could do, and with limits. His quiff had to stay immaculate and you knew it well.
Josuke slowly calmed down under your touch, throwing the controller away from him and resting an hand on your thigh.
“Stranger?” he repeated, finally looking at you.
“Yes. You’ve been playing all day.” You answered, snuggling your face in the space between his neck and his shoulders.
He let out a soft laugh, running his hand through your hair as he pulled you closer to him, hugging you tight.
“I see. You miss me annoying you, don’t you?” he said in a challenging tone, leaving a soft kiss on your forehead.
You nodded laughing, tightening the grip of your hand on the fabric of his shirt.
“I miss your annoying, clingy ass demanding for cuddles.” you replied, shifting your position and sitting on his lap. You were now face to face with him, your noses touching as he slowly made his hands slide over your waist, only to stop on your lower back.
“Ah, I see how the tables turn..” he said with a sly smirk on his face before leaning towards you and kiss you.
After a long, quite heated kiss he pulled away. He passed his tongue between his lips, a thoughtful expression on his face.
“You called me annoying though.” he said breaking the silence, locking his eyes on yours. By the tone of his voice, he seemed offended but you knew it was just one of his tactics. The smirk on his face and the way he still held on onto your body just revealed how much he was just trying to tease you.
“Fine.” You shrugged, freeing yourself from his grip and simply walking off.
“Y/N!” he said laughing and quickly running after you.
It didn’t take long for him to reach you and just wrap his arms around your waist, forcing your back against his chest.
“You ain’t going anywhere.” He said, leaving a soft bite on your neck before taking you back to the couch only to show you how much he loved you, ready to give you all the attentions you missed all day long.
Part Four Headcanons!!
Tumblr media
@tyriantyrant Father...I’m so sorry this took so long...but it is finally here. The moment has come.
@jjadegreen is and always will be my headcanon buddy and she really took the reins on this one because my stupid mushy brain could barely think of ANYTHING. Go check her out. She makes good shit. If you like headcanons you’ll love her.
Without further ado, join us on this long-awaited half-crack half-serious journey once more:
◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇
Okuyasu
-He swallowed a spoon. Like...one of those tiny collector spoons...
-Don’t ask me how Okuyasu managed to do this, but he did.
-He was sitting in his room trying to think of something cool he could do in front of Josuke and he was like
”Bro what if I did some kickass spoon trick” (Yes, he did find a little collector’s spoon at an antique shop and bought it cause it was shiny)
-It did not go well
-He choked on it for like a solid 2 minutes before he FUCKING SWALLOWED IT and sat there for 15 minutes like “oh shit oh fuck-”
-His dad was just watching from the corner like ;-;
-At first he’s like “ahh it’ll be fine, right?”
-”Right?”
-Then he starts thinking about it a bit more and realizes how fucked he probably is
-He COULD call Josuke but he really doesn’t want to explain to him that he not only swallowed a tiny fucking spoon but he also did it while simultaneously trying to think of something cool to do in front of him
-So he doesn’t call Josuke
-Instead he paces around, trying to think of some solution:
Can I throw it back up or something?
Should I like...drink that stuff that makes metal dissolve? That’ll work, right? Shit wait-
Maybe it’ll just turn out okay?
-His chest is on FIRE and he’s absolutely convinced that this is the end for him
-He calls Josuke
-There are tears...many tears
-Our boy Josuke rushes over and starts freaking out because all he knows is “Oku’s hurt” and when he bursts through the door Okuyasu’s just sitting on the couch crying and Josuke’s just “???”
-He’s the most supportive bro tho and sits down on the couch and is like “oh shit bro did you need emotional healing instead? I gotchu either way” :’)
-He reaches over to hug him and Oku jumps back in a panic and screams “NO DUDE DON’T JOSTLE THE SPOON”
”...”
“..the spoon?”
-He tearily explains the spoon
-It ends with Josuke punching the spoon out of him with Crazy Diamond but he found the entire situation so fucking funny because Oku is so fucking mortified
-he swore not to tell a soul and keeps to his word but he buys Oku a tiny spoon every goddamn chance he gets
Rohan
-Most of the time, Rohan does not embarrass himself
-But sometimes our man slips up a bit and most of the time people don’t notice the dumb shit he does cause he’s always doing dumb shit
-But this is different
-Picture an almost empty house...instant ramen wrappers everywhere...alcohol has been consumed…things have been done...
-Rohan thought this was the best time to answer some of his fan’s FAQ’s (he puts them at the end of every new issue)
-He answers most of them fine but once he comes to the “how tall are you?” question his mushy stupid brain decides to put “about ten inches.” (GOD I'M BEGGING YOU IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS REFERENCE OPEN GOOGLE AND LOOK UP “how tall is Rohan Kishibe?” PLEASE PLEASE I BEG)
-Just for fun
-Because his editor will just fix it, won’t they? Even if he wakes up the next morning and forgets about it, it could never get past the other stages of publishing, right?
-Wrong.
-It manages to slip past every single stage and before he knows it, the latest issue is out and it says he’s almost a foot tall
-He’s reading the one of the newly published copies at breakfast and SPITS OUT HIS FUCKING LUKEWARM SHITTY TEA
-He calls his publisher and just like “uhhh...hey...what the actual fuck guys?” and apparently NONE Of THEM NOTICED??
-They swipe them off the shelves and re-edit them but by now its far too late
-Josuke and Okuyasu have already made jokes about squishing him
-He gets fanart of him being the size of a pencil (which he’s convinced are also done by Josuke and Okuyasu)
-The banned issue where Rohan discloses his supposed “true height” is a novelty collectors item in the manga community now
-This is Rohan’s legacy now. This is how he will be remembered
Josuke
-He wanted to be super edgy when he was around 14
-And what better way to be an edgy 14 year old than with cigarettes??
-The problem is that he’s a literal fucking dumbass and doesn’t know how they work
-Like at all
-He somehow gets his hands on a pack and tries to do it in front of his friends to impress them
-He doesn’t light it. He just...sucks on it??
-He sucks really hard on the unlit cigarette while all of his friends watch and there’s this really long silence and all of them are thinking “yeah is this actually how it works though?”
-Josuke’s like “waitwaitwait I can make smoke come out of it watch” and sucks way too hard on it and IT GETS LODGED IN HIS FUCKING WINDPIPE
-He starts choking because he really really, doesn’t wanna swallow this thing and all of his friends are like “OH SHIT SHIT”
-There’s always that one homie who knows the Heimlich maneuver and on that day, the Heimlich is maneuvered.
-He coughs up a wet cigarette covered in nasty throat juices and his mouth tastes like shit
-He’s still totally shocked about what just happened and just kinda starts laughing but everyone can tell that its forced
-Everyone forgets about it and he’s too embarrassed to tell a soul but the Heimlich kid and him make eye contact in the hallways sometimes and he’s always reminded of that fateful day
-This is the soul reason why Josuke never smoked in high school and probably never will again
Koichi
-This might seem off topic to start but please just bear with me.
-why, for any reason, does Koichi know who joseph is??? Joseph is an American Real Estate agent. Why would a 15 year old Japanese kid be like “oh yeah that famous real estate agent Joseph Joestar”???
-well I present to you the most top tier headcanon: Koichi is a real estate fanboy.
-he planned to be a real estate agent before getting wrapped up into stand shenanigans
-But, being 15 and having REAL ESTATE as one of your biggest interests is not something you really want people knowing, especially considering the fact Koichi is a huge nerdy real estate fanboy for Josuke’s DAD.
-He buys these real estate magazines made for 45 year old men like once a week. They are what he looks forward to every week.
-one time Josuke and Oku come visit and see a magazine on Koichi's bed.
-He totally panics and dives for the magazine and tries to hide it, acting all nervous.
-Josuke and Oku immediately assume it’s a… y’know, NSFW, not for kids magazine.
-Because why would koichi need to be embarrassed about any other kind of magazine?
-So antics ensue of Josuke and Oku pestering koichi about the magazine, teasing him and begging to know what he was hiding
-after a few days, Koichi begrudgingly admits that the magazine is the “SPECIAL JOSEPH JOESTAR INTERVIEW ISSUE” which he bought 3 years ago and has reread countless times.
-Okuyasu laughs really hard and Josuke is like “...you mean my dad.....” and koichi wants to DIE
-They buy him real estate merchandise for his 16th birthday and EVERYONE thinks it’s some kind of joke gift but koichi is internally grateful
Jotaro
-Jotaro is not very good during social situations. That is very obvious.
-but when he hears that Koichi got a girlfriend, he decides he wants to be a cool…uncle? Nephew? Father figure? Mentor?
-so one day, Koichi and Jotaro are chatting while they go on a walk and Yukako walks by
-Koichi blushes and waves at her, she waves too
-Jotaro thinks, ‘alright. Time to show koichi I’m a cool guy’
-as Yukako walks away, Jotaro nudges koichi and sorta smirks
-Jotaro forget a few very important things about himself and Koichi:
-first of all, Koichi is so short, attempting to nudge the kid ended in Jotaro violently jabbing his elbow into Koichi’s skull
-Jotaro is much stronger than he thinks and Koichi, while he can take a hit, is very much weaker than Jotaro
-so an attempt at a simple nudge ends in Koichi being jabbed in the skull, flung into the road by the force of the hit, and hitting his head, hard, on the cement.
-needless to say Jotaro called and ambulance and Yukako tried to literally murder Jotaro
-He ended up with a mild concussion, but no long term damage.
-Jotaro is Not Good At Words so he apologizes in weird awkward ways like buying koichi stuff, quietly handing him 5,000 yen at random times, taking him out on the town, etc...
-Koichi keeps insisting it was an accident and he’s alright, but Jotaro feels AWFUL
-He NEVER lives that moment down in his mind
-It’ll be 2008 and Jotaro is visiting and he’ll just look the newly married koichi in his tiny eyes and say “hmhghggggg is your head ok”
-and koichi is like “IT WAS 9 YEARS AGO MR JOTARO PLEASE”
◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇
That was a wild ride I’m so sorry
Did ya’ll have a favourite? I gotta say, real estate Koichi is just...Jade, thank you for that...
Have you seen our embarrassing part 5 headcanons yet? If not, go check that out!
A date with 4taro
Tumblr media
Oh buddy, oh friend. You already know where this is going. My man’s taking you to the aquarium!
But do not fret! Because it’s going to be fun and lovely.
You decided to bring your polaroid camera with you. It was time to create fond memories! Besides, you really needed a proper photo of you and Jotaro to add into your photo album. Jotaro was an introverted man and didn’t like taking photos, so there definitely was a shortage of those.
It started by getting up early in the morning. Jotaro had no problems with that, he was a man of strict schedule who got up at 6 even if he went to sleep after midnight. You, however, did have problems waking up so early.
You begged him to stay in bed a little longer. It’s not like the fish were going to run away, right? He just chuckled softly, kissed your neck and got out of bed, leaving coldness behind.
Soon enough, the delicious smell of pancakes hit your nose and forced you to drag yourself into the kitchen drowsily.
“Look who’s up,” Jotaro said amidst turning a pancake with a light smirk on his lips. You groaned in annoyance.
“How do you do this every day?” you asked and he snuck a mug of coffee into your hands in silence. He was, after all, a man of few words. You took that as a response.
The two of you had breakfast together. It was calm and quiet, and you couldn’t help the beaming smile on your lips. Jotaro kept looking at you from underneath his hat, secret admiration in his eyes. He thought you wouldn’t notice. You did.
You decided to travel there by train. It was packed with people and he used that as an excuse to wrap an arm around your waist protectively.
It’s not like he needed to do that though. His size and cold glare were enough to make anyone skitter away from the two of you.
Jotaro was not an openly emotional person, but throughout the years you spent together you learnt how to tell that he was excited. As always, his eyes gleamed and his face was relaxed as you approached the aquarium.
“What are you looking at?”
You were so lost in thought you didn’t realize that you were staring at him. You quickly brushed it off with a chuckle, a little embarrassed.
Your time spent in the aquarium went by fast. That is the side effect of having fun after all. Jotaro was happy to tell you information about the various fish, turtles and sharks, and you gladly listened. You were usually the one to do the talking in the relationship, but this time, it was Jotaro’s time to shine.
In return, he actually let you take pictures of him for once. His features were gorgeous illuminated by the blue light coming in through the glass. You couldn’t pass up that kind of opportunity. He even took photos of you.
However when you arrived at a photo booth, you had to convince him and give him the puppy eyes to get him to walk in. You took 5 silly photos, your favourite being the one where Jotaro let you wear his hat. You safely tucked the photos into your backpack. Today was going to be a precious memory.
It was around 3 pm when the two of you left the aquarium. You had a lot of fun, but now you were hungry and your feet were killing you. You assumed Jotaro was feeling the same way.
When you brought up the topic of a late lunch, Jotaro just smiled, took your hand and began walking in some direction. He wouldn’t answer any of your questions until you arrived at a ramen restaurant.
“It’s my favourite place,” he explained.
Your eyes almost fell out of your sockets once you noticed the price. You gave him a skeptic look, but he just shook his head. “Don’t worry, I’ll pay.”
You knew Jotaro was rich, but you couldn’t help feeling bad whenever he paid for something.
When you were done ordering, Jotaro pulled out a neatly-looking packet and put it in your hand. Once you saw what was inside, you covered your mouth with your hand in surprise. It was a necklace, silver starfish decorated with diamonds. He must have bought it back in the aquarium. You almost burst into tears and showered him with thank-yous.
The ramen was delicious to say the least. No wonder it was Jotaro’s favourite place.
Jotaro paid for the food and so you were off to go back home.
This time, the train was much emptier than in the morning and so you got to sit next to each other. You took a nap on his shoulder, even Jotaro was dozing off, but he kept himself awake in case something were to happen.
You spent the rest of the day cuddling and watching movies. You ended up falling asleep on him and he had to carry you to bed.
(Truth be told, you did wake up in his arms, but he was so warm and gentle that you pretended to still be asleep.)
Jotaro joined you in bed after taking a shower and you happily snuggled up to him, breathing in his scent.
Today was definitely one of the better days. Dealing with Jotaro’s grumpy attitude sometimes was definitely worth it.
Fantasy au!
Josuke x F! reader- ch 5
It takes Two
So I just realized after a month that I forgot to upload ch5 here-
Anyway! No TW today! We've escaped the era of creepy men.
It wasn't over as soon as you would've liked, but the moment they popped that lid back open it was possibly the greatest feeling you ever had.
"Oh thank god." You stood up a little too quickly, and stumbled for your balance for just a moment.
"Please, never make me do that again." Josuke laughed a bit, helping you out of the barrel gently. It felt so nice to stretch your legs, arms, and everything really. You had made it out of that godforsaken barrel. Night was still well overhead, and the cold breeze remained as awful as ever. Okuyasu had sat back in the front seat, complaining about the late night endeavor. Josuke scoffed at his behavior.
"You're tired. We get it, but we still need to go over the plan with her, dumbass." Your face shifted in confusion.
"Ouch bro!"
"Plan?" You said over Okuyasu's fake offended words. Josuke nodded, taking his satchel out of the back of the cart and pulling something out. You recognized it as a map as he unfurled it.
"The good News is, Jotaro and the Foundation have been on the search for the Princess and Koichi as well. But…" You felt your heart drop.
"There's bad news?" Josuke nodded solemnly.
"...That man from the alleyway gave us false information. The town he named doesn't actually exist. Jotaro believed that the direction was correct though, so we're going to rendezvous with an old friend that believes the kidnapping has to do with some Duke in his town." He pointed at the town on the paper, it looked like it was at least a few hours away. You might make it there by dawn if you travel through the night without stopping. There was hope, but exhaustion was weighing you down.
"It's good that we have a lead," you yawned, wiping at your eyes in a feeble attempt to keep yourself awake. "Are we traveling through till daylight?" Josuke smiled softly at you, nodding. You couldn't figure out why his smile was so infectious.
"Since you're tired, Okuyasu and I will take the first shift." You couldn't protest that! Josuke went around front as you happily hopped into the back. Okuyasu's tired groans made you feel at least a little guilty, but soon enough you felt yourself slipping away into sleep.
Slowly blinking yourself awake was harder than you expected it to be. You were so tired...
"I've never seen you look so soft around someone, Jo. Hehe. After acting so annoyed at all the girls after you too! you've-"
"Shut up, Okuyasu!"
It was hard for you to understand what the two men were saying. You still felt exhausted from the night before. Wait a second, did they ever wake you up to drive the cart? The sleep-deprived brain started to fade away, and cleared up completely when the cart came to a stop. You sat up as Josuke called your name.
"Yeah?"
"We've made it." Your back popped as you sat up, evidently sleeping on a rickety wooden cart wasn't that comfortable. With daylight finally overhead, you realized that your dress was clean..? You figured it had to do with Josuke, his powers baffled you to a great extent. Okuyasu was the one to help you out of the back this time, you didn't see the smirk he sent towards Josuke. Your group had stopped just outside the town, where a little farmhouse stood. It was a little shabby, and certainly not much to look at. What really baffled you was the extravagant carriage just outside.
"Josuke! Punk! Its good to see you!" You instantly recognized who it was, even if you had never officially met, you had seen him be announced at royal events many times. Shigekiyo Yangu, usually referred to as shigetchi, was 17. After having a bad accident In his early youth, the kid had wanted to make a better neighborhood for his parents, and did so by buying the entire town. This teenage landlord was richer than most of the royalty you had met, and being Yukako's right hand, that said a lot. You never expected Josuke to know someone like this.
He ran up to the two, excitedly shaking their hands. Josuke and okuyasu looked happy to see him as well. Shigetchi glanced over at you when he had calmed.
"Oh? Who's this?" You introduced yourself, and he smiled wide.
"It's good to meet you, what's a nice girl like you doing with these thugs?" You suppressed a laugh as the two in question bristled in annoyance. You could almost feel the heat that the two hot-headed men produced. You waved him off, desperate to relieve the tension even if it was hilarious. Josuke was the one who calmed himself first, sighing.
"Shigetchi, I'm desperate to sleep on an actual bed, can you please just let us in?"
"Oh! Sorry I had almost forgotten!" He fished around in his pockets for a bit, before finding it in a triumphant moment. He was such a funny little man.
"So when can I expect payment from Jotaro's foundation, huh?" Shigetchi said the words so casually, smile still bright on his face as he reached a hand out to give Josuke the keys. Both Okuyasu and Josuke stiffened up.
"Uhh, well…" It was like a flip switched, and Shigetchi snatched the keys back immediately. You yourself might've been intimidated at the dark look on his face if he wasn't so… small and pudgy. Josuke immediately panicked.
"You little turd! I should grind you into dust!" Okuyasu's threat was ignored.
"Hey, hey! Don't get so greedy now! Jotaro had to finish some business but said he'd be here by the end of the week ok?!" Shigetchi had a funny, whistle of a laugh. Switching back to a happy-go-lucky persona within seconds.
"Alright!" The keys jingled in his hands as he held them out to Josuke. "I'll be expecting you guys for lunch, we'll talk about business then." Shigetchi winked at you, blowing a kiss before hopping back into his awaiting carrige. You shuddered, this kid was a little too young to be flirting with you. Josuke slipped the keys into your hands in a weird way, his hand lingering around yours just enough to make Shigetchi scowl and stick his tongue out at him as the carriage rolled away.
"What was that, Josuke?" He huffed, turning his head away to avoid your face.
"I was handing the keys to you." He murmured, muttering "what a creep" as he walked over to the door. Okuyasu had been rooted in place since Shigetchi left. Was he… crying?
"Okuyasu, whats wrong?" Josuke rushed over in a flash, covering his mouth before he could speak.
"He's fine! Haha! Let's just get inside shall we?"
"Okay?"
Delicious smells filled the air of the farmhouse when you got back from settling the horses in the stable outside. You hadn't actually realized how hungry you were until just then. When was the last time you ate? Your stomach growled embarrassingly loud as you entered the kitchen, whoever was making breakfast was an angel.
"Aha! I see my bread has claimed another victim! Hehehe." Okuyasu bragged. He was indeed, baking in the small kitchen. You smiled at the surprise, you'd never thought that Okuyasu of all people would be a baker.
"Smells really good Okuyasu." He smiled brightly, and you immediately knew that this was a puppy dog of a man.
"Thanks! I started to bake after getting roped into helping Tonio while he was understaffed. 'Found out that I'm pretty good at it, so I've been making my stuff for a while now!" He chattered excitedly. You nodded along as you searched the kitchen drawers, happy when you managed to find some plates and utensils.
As ridiculous as it sounded, it felt good to set the table, to pretend to be normal again. You never thought such a simple action would help you relax so much. Of course, you knew it wasn't going to last, but it was nice in the moment.
After breakfast, you and Josuke headed over to the stables to feed the horses. It felt so nice to do everyday things again.
"Do you need any help with that?" You shook your head, lifting the heavy bag of feed onto your hip. Josuke nodded, you guessed he understood that you just needed to do things yourself, and headed off to the well just outside the big doors. The horses were blissfully calm now that they were under a nice, stable roof. You laughed a bit as you poured their feed, you supposed that you would be too if it weren't for the looming anxiety.
Josuke returned with a heavy bucket of water to put in their troughs, and you couldn't help but eye his shoulders a bit as he lifted the bucket high enough to do so. You blinked, startled only a bit by the nose and tongue of a horse against your hands, trying desperately to take the rest of the feed.
"Oh no you don't!" You laughed, setting the feed down on the other side of the stables, out of his reach by quite a bit.
"Is he trying to steal the feed again?" Josuke's smile just about lit up the room as you returned to the horses, gently petting the muzzle of the one in question.
"Yeah, he's just a bit of a glutton, isn't he?" Your voice lifted into an awful high-pitched baby talk that made Josuke laugh. The noise made your stomach feel all fuzzy, and you hoped it was just a little too dark in here for him to tell you were blushing.
Still, there seemed to be something hanging in the air. Something that Josuke really wanted to talk about. You could tell by the funny way his face shifted every once in a while that he was thinking hard. You had seen Yukako do the same thing, and you wondered if you would have to fish the thought out of him like you always had to do with her.
"Is there anything on your mind, Josuke?" He hummed.
"There is, but you're not going to like it." Your heart catches in your throat. You're nervous, and he could tell. But what did you have to be nervous about?
"Jotaro said something to us in the tent that I didn't actually tell you about... The reason he didn't want you to go, was because he was worried that you'd get hurt." You quirked an eyebrow. Worried? It really seemed like he was just misogynistic.
"...I thought it was just him implying that Okuyasu and I couldn't protect you, but I've been thinking," He stepped closer to you, just a bit, and reached out to pet the horse's side.
"I just want you to know that this is much more complicated- much more dangerous than you are aware of. We've been in tight places before, but there is nothing that could prepare you for what's to come." You scoffed, almost offended. You were so tired of this! Tired of them thinking you were helpless, tired of them skirting around almost everything about the kidnapping. It felt so awful to know about the secrets that were being kept from you, and still having no idea what they were about.
"Josuke." You warned. "I am not going back." You left it at that, almost afraid that you'd snap and say something that you would regret. Josuke nodded, eyes cast downward. Only in this moment did you realize he still had bruises on his face. He spoke up when you started to pull the supplies you "borrowed" from tonio out of your pocket.
"Okay. I figured you were- hey, what are you doing?" He laughed as you pressed the soaked cloth to his face. The sound made you smile.
"What does it look like?" You brought your other hand up to keep his face still as you delicately patted his cheek, making sure to run the cloth over the small cuts left by that man's nails. Josuke was smiling even when he had to wince from the sting. He brought a hand up to hold the wrist that wasn't working, his gentle, warm signature hold burning into your memory.
"You're much nicer than you give yourself credit for." You glanced at his eyes and back with a smile, gaze catching on his lips for just a moment. But you didn't say anything in reply. You removed your hands once you were satisfied, shoving the cloth and such back in your pockets.
The short walk back into the house felt really nice. Just the two of you enjoying the cool weather of late fall. You didn't know what dangers lie ahead, but you felt safe as long as he was by your side.
Victorian Series: Prologue
This is the prologue to a collection of reader inserts of all the Jojos as siblings in one big Victorian family, all fathered by Jonathan’s father in Phantom Blood.
Premise: Mr. Joestar's eight children are acting quite out of character. Unbeknownst to him are the love troubles each Jojo was experiencing
Warnings: A very worried and confused father
It is a truth universally acknowldged that all of Mr. Joestar's children doesn't quite fit in too much with the Victorian crowd. And as a father of 8, he has learned to accept that fact. He was used to judging stares (both agreeable and distasteful ones, depending on which child they were looking at really). But he loved his children dearly, more than what societal standards might say. They're all very good people in their own way;
First there is his kind, and admittedly quite clumsy, Jonathan who is always first at the dining table. Most times he failed to wait for his other siblings to come. The behemoth is always quite hungry! Goodness knows which side of the family he got that from.
Second is his very cheeky rule breaker, Joseph. His actions are more questionable to him than most of his other children. He found it hard to lecture Joseph. This boy only seemed to listen to his fisticuff trainer, Lisa Lisa. And how many times did he tell Joseph not to fight in the underground arenas in town? He couldn't count anymore.
Third, (Mr. Joestar had to heave a sigh) his utterly rude but well-meaning Jotaro. This boy was born in a ship while he travelled with his beloved wife. And the name was kindly suggested by his Japanese crewmate and friend. He said it was supposed to signify a person with a pure heart, depending on how it is written in the complex characters of the Japanese. But, my oh my, how Mr. Joestar wished he'd lower his voice sometimes especially towards his siblings.
Fourth is his bubbly and spirited Josuke (his wife became quite fond of Japanese for a time). This boy is his ultimate mediator, together with the occassional Giorno who may or may not mediate, helping resolve sibling fights. He'd do anything to help his loved ones just don't mention his peculiar hairdo. Even he has to keep quiet about his opinions of it.
Fifth is his ambitious and enigmatic Giorno. He seemed to be doing really fine in law school. The boy has a dream, a political one. And it excited Mr. Joestar to see it unfold. Hopefully, the Lord could spare him a life a little longer than his beloved just to see not only Giorno, but all his children succeed.
Sixth is his only flower, Jolyne. Blast! How in the world did Joseph manage to pull Jolyne into the fisticuff world?! But if he thought about it, his daughter never really was the embroidery or baking type. She always rode horses with Johnny or play chess with him when he had time. Still, this girl never failed to greet him everytime he came home tired.
Seventh is the Joestar's resident jockey, Johnny. It seems that he's been doing well and is able to ride horses again after meeting their new Italian neighboor, Gyro Zeppeli. Mr. Joestar's happiness at the sight of him riding again instead of brooding gave the father in him joy. He always tried to please the boy before to no avail. He only had Gyro to thank.
Last is his quiet and curious Gappy. This boy disliked public gatherings, even intimate ones! And that he shared with Jotaro. Gappy's lack in social skills he poured in his passion, taxidermy. Entering his room is always a marvel to Mr. Joestar. It was full of cabinets lined with animals he neatly worked on. And he thought it uncannily awesome!
But as of the moment, Mr. Joestar found himself in a predicament. All his children aren't acting like they used to.
As the usual first person sitting down for breakfast, the most uncanny sight befell him; Gappy, who always arrived late for any arrangement, was the earliest, even before him nor Jonathan at that! Where was Jonathan? And what was the occassion?
"Ah, what is this peculiar sight?" Mr. Joestar noted as he sat down.
"Father." Gappy offered him a tight smile before focusing his gaze on his lap again. His usual bright purple eyes was splashed with what could Mr. Joestar assume to be loneliness.
"Is everything okay?" A worried father had to ask.
"Yes." Gappy answered with a heavy sigh.
What a very convincing answer. Mr. Joestar thought. Before he can inquire more upon the subject, Joseph stomped his way towards the dining table, pulled a chair, and slammed his bottom on it to join this very happy morning they currently have. He rested his elbow on the table while his cheek pressed to his palm. Mr. Joestar would scold him for his rude behavior if not for the unusual visible frustration on his visage.
"It's rare to see a pout on your face, Joseph. What's the matter?" He asked.
Fortunately for Mr. Joestar, Joseph was chatty enough. "Bloody hell!" Joseph began, and Mr. Joestar had to stop himself from spitting his morning tea. "How the hell should I have known she liked daisies more than roses?!" Joseph yapped.
"D-daisies?" Mr. Joestar was at a loss. And to his dismay, Joseph went back to sulking which didn't really help him understand what was happening.
Mr. Joestar was still in the process of understanding his two sons when another arrived;
"Good morning." Jotaro greeted as he sat down. Even Gappy and Joseph were surprised upon hearing this. Jotaro never greets anyone. That is just a fact they've all silently agreed upon. "Jonathan's not eating today. He told me to tell you."
Wait…not….Jonathan is not eating? What in God's holy name is happening to his sons?! Yes, part of him is glad that Jotaro decided to finally be polite for once. But he's not even done processing his other sons' situations yet!
"What's for breakfast?" Johnny, who just got out of his downstairs room, joined the party with a wide smile spread across his face.
Mr. Joestar gaped at the sight of his lanky blonde son actually sitting with them for breakfast. Usually, Johnny would be in a hurry to go riding with Gyro!
Mr. Joestar sat there wondering if these were really his sons. Perhaps he was still dreaming? Maybe the Lord Almighty answered some of his prayers that his sons be polite for once? Well, he couldn't say so with Joseph, but still. Oh if only his wife was still with them. What would she do?
The head of the family wasn't spared still when he saw his only girl walking down the stairs. "Jo-Jolyne?" He was wide-eyed in utter surprise. His flower was wearing a dress, a contrast to her usual boyish trousers and blouse.
"You look okay." Jotaro complimented. Mr. Joestar had to clean his ears. Did Jotaro really just say that?
"Thanks." Jolyne mumbled, face coloring a little at the sudden remark from the most unexpected person. "I didn't want to wear it." She said, crossing her arms over her chest after sitting down with them. "My valet insisted." Her face colored more at the mention of her valet.
Following Jolyne was a disheveled Josuke, wearing the same trousers from yesterday, his crumpled undershirt half tucked under it. And most shockingly, his hair was undone!
"Apple Charlotte anyone?" A familar voice asked. And when Mr. Joestar found the owner of the voice, he was greeted with the sight of Giorno. He wore a white apron, Apple Charlottes carried by hands clothed with mittens. Did Giorno…bake?! Since when does he bake?
And Josuke too. Where is his usual crisp clothing? Of all his sons, Josuke was the only one who didn't need a valet. Just what was happening?!
Mr. Joestar closed his eyes, massaging his forehead in a circular motion. The Apple Charlottes smelled divine, but his mind was somewhere else. This was it for Mr. Joestar. His mind couldn't fathom whatever phantom turned his children into this. He pondered on their change in routines; What happened in the past few months before this? He paused for thought.
Jonathan frequented the Viscount's home recently. He always brought gifts to that specific household after the summer gathering. Who was he visiting there?
And Joseph? He still trained under Lisa Lisa but is somehow more enthusiastic than ever when he's up for training. And he always complained that training was hard, but recently all Mr. Joestar hears from his son was how exciting it was. What was altered in their training module? Maybe he could ask Lisa Lisa about it?
Jotaro had two recent voyages on the same ship, The Arbella, to collect some samples of marine life for his studies. And he's about to set out on another on the very same. What sets this ship apart from the others, he wonders. He knew Jotaro had the affinity for golden pins, so maybe he has a budding interest in ships?
Josuke visited London a lot recently. And when Mr. Joestar asks about it, the boy would only give a vague answer. What worried him was his exploits and the people he surrounded himself with. At least Joseph was being blunt about his excursions. He just hoped Josuke was not in any kind of danger.
Giorno came home for a break, and he only reads books for a time. But where did the baking come from? When he thought hard enough, he remembered Giorno being quite happier than usual when his break started which was odd. For he was against taking a break from law school, wanting to be done with it as soon as possible. What triggered the change then?
Jolyne recently changed valets. None of her valets ever last long because of her excursions with Joseph. But that goes the same for the latter which is why Mr. Joestar gave up giving the brute a valet at all. But Jolyne was a woman, and a woman had to look her very best when attending social functions. But maybe her current valet is doing well then?
Johnny started hanging out with Gyro which brought about good change. But why have breakfast with them all of a sudden when he was always excited to meet his best friend?
Gappy always hung out with his childhood best friend, and they did taxidermy together. Nothing really changed. As far as he knew, Gappy's friend was now out on the marriage market. So is that it then?
Mr. Joestar had a lot to think about.
Tumblr media
That's it for the prologue! Hope you enjoyed it.
Some notes:
I know it's very Regency, but I just had to make a Jane Austen reference for that first paragraph.😋
Taxidermy is a very normal hobby in Victorian England.
Valets are people who help their lord/lady dress themselves and accompanies them to events.
Fisticuffs = Boxing
And in case you're wondering, Apple Charlotte looks like this:
Don’t have the word count but it feels long lol
Vera turned the picture of Holy and her son around in her hands. Looks like Mr Kujo’s been out of the picture for a while. Maybe not legally but definitely socially.
“Stop being a creep.” Jotaro grumbled as he passed her in the hallway to the kitchen.
“Oh cut an orphan some slack, would you? All my baby pictures are court property.” She feigned sadness as she put the picture frame down and followed into the kitchen where they were cheerfully greeted by Holy who put two platefuls of eggs Benedict in front of them- with Jotaro sitting with three eggs and an extra serving of rice.
“Just shout if you want some more, Vera.”
Jotaro looked her over as if she’d materialized at the table beside him.
“Yes, my name is Vera.” She extended a hand out to him over the corner separating them. “Vera Astbury.”
“Astbury.” He frowned, taking her hand for a nonchalant shake.
She chuckled, opening the napkin over her lap. “Yeah I don’t think it suits me either but it’s what I got. Just stick to Vera though.”
They sat in comfortable silence over breakfast- not minding much as she enjoyed a cup of coffee over the newspaper.
“Can you even read that?” He asked after he finished the bowl of rice.
Her gaze shifted to him as he continued to scoff down a glass of water. “I’d rather not wait for manga translations to make it to the shelves where I live.” Was all she answered as she continued to read up about an excavation of 20 tombs in Egypt.
“Shoujen gets you that excited, huh?”
Fortune moved before Vera could quite catch her but she herself didn’t move. The butter knife met the table right between his fingers- Fortune’s faceless head staring him down.
“I’d suggest you rethink the sexist stereotypes you hold me to. Or at the very least keep those comments to yourself.” She said flatly, she wasn’t about to make him think he was getting under her skin.
Jotaro’s stand emerged and gave Fortune a hard shove away from his user- Vera feeling the phantom touch on her own shoulders.
She narrowed her eyes at him, sitting up straighter and looking him straight in the eye. “You wanna tussle, Kujo?”
Jotaro, admittedly, had a strange effect on Vera. Her usually calm and calculated demeanor seemed to slip around him, her temper flaring dangerously whenever he’d open his mouth around her. What was it that made her want to punch that stupid scowl off his face? It couldn’t be because she wanted to prove something to him, could it?
He only gave a disinterested ‘tch’ as he stood up from the table. “Don’t try it.”
Nope, she definitely wanted to prove she could floor him...
Avdol entered the kitchen soon after and without so much as a good morning, Jotaro was out the door- Holy running after him to see him off. Watching her beg him for a simple goodbye made her blood boil hot enough to put her own shoes on and feign a walk in the neighborhood.
Fortune tripped him up just enough for her to catch up to him and snatch his cap from atop his head.
“You’re a damn pest, you know that?” He grumbled as he knelt in front of her.
She swung the inner brin of his cap on her finger as she peered down at him. “I told you to quit the punk act with your mom.”
“Why do you care?” He straightened, his stand reaching for her but Fortune blocking the reach. Vera nonchalantly placed the cap on her head and started walking ahead of him. “Because I’d kill to have a chance to say goodbye to my mom.”
Soon as other students started coming into view, Vera tipped the cap off of her head, letting his stand grab it before it landed on the floor. She was off the path, heading back to the Kujo residence. Holy refused to let her help with any laundry and soon enough she was shooed into the same room as Avdol and Mr Joestar.
“Tea or coffee, Vera?” Avdol asked. She looked down at the traditional green tea alongside the little tin of coffee. A pick-me-up would have been nice, so she picked the coffee up and took a whiff to see if it would be worth it. The smell she got instead nearly made her cough.
She closed the tin immediately and looked at Avdol in confusion. “Are you testing me or something?”
“Why do you ask such a question?” Mr Joestar interjected, “ it’s so much less work than tea.”
Vera peered down at the nameless metal tin with disgust. “Mr Joestar, I would have to ask if that’s the best coffe you have because that... stuff... is only coffee scented.”
Beside her Avdol chuckled as he prepared the two cups that would hold their tea. “I suppose that was why you begged for ground coffee from home, Vera?” He spoke with a slight smile.
“Avdol, they were labelling the coffee grinder scrapings as ‘columbian roast’- it was daylight robbery!”
Mr Joestar chuckled, handing his mug to Avdol to prepare a cup of tea for him as well. “You have a fine nose for such things?”
Vera opened her mouth to explain but when the ominous shadow of Jotaro spilled into the room the conversation was forgotten. She and Avdol moved in tandem, clearing the room of the table and tea ceremony supplies to lie the redhead down on the floor.
“You said he attacked you-“ her gaze moved up from Jotaro’s head to his knee right in front of her. She forgot what she was saying as she let Fortune start healing his leg first but was called back to attention for the redhead. Mr Joestar revealed the ugly little fleshbud sitting on the guy’s forehead.
“Can’t you just extract it and heal whatever was hurt?” Jotaro asked over her shoulder.
“I move time and the healing process forward but the brain doesn’t regenerate. I could revert its state to what it was before the fleshbud but for that to work it needs to be removed.”
Jotaro bent down and held Kakyoin’s face while bringing his stand out. “I’ll extract it and you fix whatever I damage.”
“Wait, did you...?” Before she could even finish her sentence his stand was already reaching for the fleshbud. She brought her own hand to Kakyoin’s face, focusing her stand’s energy. The fleshbud shot two tentacles up into Vera and Jotaro’s arms, the subtle sting challenging her focus for just a moment. Vera focused Fortune’s energy into any damage being done to Kakyoin’s brain, forcing on turning the dial back. She spared a glance up at Jotaro, where the fleshbud was inching into his neck. Peering down at her own, she noticed hers wasn’t too far behind.
Kakyoin’s eyes shot up and instinctively Vera’s hand flew out to keep his eyes shut. “Not to rush but could you hurry it along?” She hissed at Jotaro.
The fleshbud separating from Kakyoin’s head sounded like separating Velcro to her. It flew through the air for a moment and like catching a wishbone between two people, Fortune and Jotaro’s stand grabbed hold of the two ends of the fleshbud and pulled. It bounced out of their grasps as it ripped in three and was finally finished off by Mr Joestar but definitely not by his stand- or maybe she was just seeing things.
Fortune’s dials turned frantically as they healed three people all at once, Vera bending down to check if the hole in Noriaki’s head was closing up.
The redhead looked between her and Jotaro and then asked the golden question... why did they save him?
Vera got up from kneeling beside Kakyoin, “I don’t know, morals, I guess?” She shrugged as she left the room to find the first aid kid, Holy stopping her in the hallway to listen to Jotaro’s answer.
His answer meant less than nothing to Vera but to Holy, she smiled and inclined her head in the direction his voice was coming from and smiling- almost as if to say “see what I mean?”
All Vera could do was smile and nod, pulling her back a bit to quietly ask for the first aid kid.
The next morning Vera got up a bit later than usual, the night before she had slipped out of her room for a smoke break. When she returned to her home she had slipped up a step and scraped up her knee.
She had only wrapped it in gauze before crawling back into her futon but waking up she realized it wasn’t just a simple scrape- she’d need to stitch it up.
So with a soft groan she got up, hopped through a shower and with wet hair still hanging over her shoulders slid Noriaki’s door open after her knock.
The first aid kit was left in his room and he was still asleep as she slipped into the bathroom he was given and sat down on the floor, knee propped up.
Over time she’d gotten used to patching herself up- the nurse at the boarding school got sick of her relatively quickly the first few months she was there, at the time she used Fortune for anything, especially to make sure teachers didn’t check for homework but that didn’t quite fare well when in turn, she’d end up with food poisoning or bloody noses.
Pain wasn’t much of a bother for her anymore- she’d poured enough hydrogen peroxide into open wounds to not flinch anymore.
“Doesn’t that hurt?” A velvety voice asked behind her as she wiped her newly stitched new clean.
She looked over her shoulder at the redhead in the doorway. A smirk spread over her face. “If you’re still sworn allegiance to Dio, I’m gonna have to politely ask you to give me a minute? I just closed this up.”
Kakyoin took a sharp breath through gritted teeth, about to say something when a commotion disturbed them both.
To her, it didn’t feel real. She felt like she was floating through the motions of finding the other three men in the kitchen with an unconscious Holy and then laying her down in her futon- concerned for her sake.
It felt like she was stuck, watching as Mrs Kujo strain against her own body to draw a single breath- behind her Jotaro and the others were finding to pinpoint Dio’s location but she had very little care for it at that moment.
It wasn’t until Jotaro gave her shoulder a light tap that she seemed to shake herself out of it. “Take a breather, outside.” Her gaze travelled up to meet his face, that same scowl on his face as always. “Might also wanna go wrap your leg up.”
True to his word, she was bleeding through her jeans. All she could do was nod and leave the room. Another hydrogen peroxide soak and this time she decided to busy herself with Avdol in the library.
“I never asked you this but, could you ever explain how you overcome your stand fever?” Avdol asked as she leaned against the entrance of the library. She moved closer, pulling the next books Avdol had his eyes on into her arms.
“I can’t really say. I heard a lot of voices while I was sick but in a sense... I’d say it was just my reluctance to die.”
“So- Mrs Kujo could survive that fever?” Noriaki asked from the doorway this time.
“Unlikely.” Vera and Avdol had answered in unison.
Kakyoin seemed confused by that answer. “But you just said-“
“Vera is the first of, close to a thousand cases I’ve ever seen to survive.”
She rolled her head back to peer at the redhead. “Not to sound too special.” Her attention returned to the stack of books she held for Avdol. “Not that I’d wish that fever onto anyone- except maybe Dio.”
“What does it feel like?” Noriaki continued to prod.
A groan left her lips. “You born stand-users, honestly. It’s the most accurate remake of being burnt alive- I haven’t been able to feel pain normally ever since.”
Avdol peered down at the note in his hand and then at the page of the encyclopedia. “Look familiar, Vera?”
Deadmatch.
“I had had my suspicions that he might have left Egyp but it seemed he stayed.” Avdol pondered with Mr Joestar, Holy still unconscious on her futon.
“So I’m going home.” Vera sighed quietly, bending down to feel over Holy’s forehead.
Kakyoin announced his help and when asked why, he spared a glance at Vera, saying “I don’t know- morals, I guess.”
They stayed one more night at the Kujo residents, waiting for the Speedwagon Foundation to arrive for Holy. She had once enjoyed a quick smoke break at the dead of night when once more she found herself face to face with Jotaro.
She pulled a cigarette from its pack and handed it to him. “I’m heading to bed.”
“No,” he reached his arm out to stop her leaving. “If you’re coming with us, you’re gonna explain some shit to me.”
Vera peered up at him, unphased, hand on her hip. “You got questions. And I got answers. Ask away.”
“Why don’t you just heal my mom?”
“I can’t cure curses. A stand fever is like immunity for life- I can move it forward or back but it doesn’t change your body’s ability to make a stand.”
“So why don’t you heal yourself?”
She shrugged, “I could but I’d rather take a stitched up leg over another assault case on my counselor’s case.”
The scowl on his face disappeared and was replaced by a slack-jawed shock.
“As hard as this will be, Jotaro, you’ll have to learn to trust me. I wouldn’t expect you drive without experience. In the same way you have to trust that I’ll do everything in my power to help you.”
Jotaro dropped his harm back to his side, letting her stroll by calmly until he spoke again.
“At what cost?”
“I’ll deal with the costs-“ she turned to face him. “But uhhh I’d appreciate if you stuck around when I told you I felt unsafe.”
Jotaro didn’t say anything, only nodded before turning to light his cigarette and Vera turning down the hallway to bed.
Jotaro wasn't sure what tipped him off at first but once he realized it, he wasn't sure how he had missed it before.
Kakyoin wasn't sleeping.
Not just, he wasn't sleeping well—when did they ever? Between fear of enemy Stand attacks and the trauma and worry, Jotaro would be surprised if any of them slept well, and he knew that both Kakyoin and Polnareff had nightmares frequently—and do did he. No, Kakyoin wasn't just suffering bad nightmares, he wasn't sleeping, period.
Jotaro first thought it might be a fluke thing and, hey, he wouldn't judge. There were nights he couldn't get to sleep either and would stay awake for hours. But Kakyoin, even when he did wake up from nightmares, would usually at least fall asleep before Jotaro. But then this happened two nights in a row, and Kakyoin was beginning to look rough. The circles under his eyes looked like bruises set into his pale skin. Polnareff brought it up at breakfast but Kakyoin shrugged him off, murmuring something about a bad night.
That day they took a train and Jotaro sat across from the other student. Both of them were reading, but Kakyoin would nod off every once in a while, before starting back awake with a terrified expression on his face, before he would shake himself, or get up as if to make sure he didn't fall back asleep.
Jotaro narrowed his eyes, not sure what to make of this.
Kakyoin had been acting a little strange since they had crashed the airplane in the desert. That whole thing with the baby…Jotaro still didn't understand exactly what had happened. Only that Kakyoin had been so convinced the baby was a stand user that night and then the next morning, he hadn't said a word about it.
Jotaro had been sure something was up with that and had the nagging feeling he was forgetting something important. It was possible that whatever had happened might have had something to do with why Kakyoin couldn't, or perhaps wouldn't sleep now.
Not that he liked prying into other people's business, but if Kakyoin kept this up, he wouldn't do any of them any good, and could be a danger to himself as well. If he stayed up another night, Jotaro might try to talk to him.
That night at the hotel, they stayed in the same room again, and Jotaro sat in bed, reading for a bit, before he turned the light off and lay down. He pretended to sleep, but was really waiting for Kakyoin to do so first, seeing if his suspicions were correct.
Hours passed, and Jotaro was actually worried he would drift off first. The red-head though, only sat up in bed, arms clutched around his knees, staring at the wall across from him and shaking slightly. Jotaro couldn't even imagine what it was like to stay awake for—going on three days now? How was he even functioning? How had he not passed out yet?
He watched from under half-closed lids as Kakyoin got up, nearly tripping over his blankets, and stumbled to the bathroom, where Jotaro heard splashing water, probably trying to wake himself up.
Okay, now he was convinced that Kakyoin was actually trying to keep himself awake. This was a problem.
He probably should have said something, but he just didn't know. He stayed awake for another hour thinking about what he could do to help his friend.
XXX
The next day, Kakyoin barely stumbled down to breakfast and onto the train they would again be taking. Jotaro winced at how bad he looked, how uncoordinated.
Thankfully, the old man noticed too. "Kakyoin, are you okay?"
Kakyoin didn't reply, simply staring out the window.
"Hey," Jotaro called, nudging his leg with a foot.
Kakyoin startled, inhaling sharply. "What is it?"
Jotaro and his grandfather both looked at him with concern.
"I was just wondering if you were all right, you look terrible," Joseph said with his usual lack of tact.
Kakyoin ducked his head. "I'm fine, Mr. Joestar. Just haven't been sleeping that well lately."
"Well, maybe try turning in early tonight," Joseph said.
Jotaro didn't miss the way Kakyoin swallowed hard at his words, his eyes haunted.
That night when they got to the hotel and settled into their room, Kakyoin went off to take a shower—probably a cold one, considering the lack of steam from under the door. While he was gone, Jotaro prepared a tea he'd bought earlier that day in the market. It was for sleeping, and was primarily chamomile, like his mother always drank when she couldn't sleep. He hoped it might help.
When Kakyoin came back out, hair damp, he was confronted by Jotaro, holding two mugs.
"What's this?" he asked.
Jotaro pressed one into his hands. "It's for sleeping. I know you haven't even slept a couple hours the last few nights."
Kakyoin paled slightly. "I…I have—"
"No, you haven't," Jotaro replied. And forced the tea into the other teen's hands. "Drink it."
"I don't…know if I want to."
That was a strange answer. "Why not?"
"I…It's hard to explain," Kakyoin said, slumping down on his bed, looking into the mug.
Jotaro sat on his own bed, across from him, their knees almost touching in the cramped space. He didn't need to touch Kakyoin to know he was trembling though.
"Then tell me," Jotaro insisted. "I get it, we've all been through a lot of shit, but—"
"It's not like that," Kakyoin snapped. "It's not…nightmares…I…" He bit his lip and looked away, setting the tea aside before wrapping his arms around himself, fingers digging into his arm—particularly around the spot where he'd had that scar, the one they thought he'd made there himself.
"You can tell me," Jotaro insisted calmly. "You can't keep doing this, Kakyoin."
"You wouldn't understand! None of you did!" Kakyoin snapped and hugged himself tighter.
"You're talking about what happened in the desert, aren't you?"
Kakyoin looked over at him with some surprise, but then he nodded.
"Then tell me," Jotaro said firmly.
"You wouldn't believe me," Kakyoin whispered, curling into himself.
"Yeah, I would," Jotaro told him. "I don't exactly know what happened out there, but I know I'm missing something. I just get this feeling there's something I'm forgetting and I what to know what it is. Especially if that's what's making you too scared to sleep. I know you, Kakyoin, you don't scare easily."
Kakyoin was shaking. He bit his lip, fingernails digging into his arm until Jotaro was afraid he would draw blood, but then he said, "It was the baby, you know."
Jotaro sat up silently, and listened.
"It's Stand trapped people in their sleep, in some…freakish, dream world."
Jotaro blinked, something that he couldn't quite grasp pinging in his mind.
"The only way you could get out was to wake up," Kakyoin whispered. "And you wouldn't remember anything about it."
Oh, god, Jotaro realized suddenly. If that was true, then when they had knocked Kakyoin unconscious…
"You didn't believe me, even though I said it was Death 13, the final Stand we knew we were up against. And then you…" he made a strangled sound before he swallowed hard and continued in a shaky voice. "You left me in there, and I couldn't wake up." He reached up to rub angrily as his eyes. "So I can't sleep, because I'm terrified that if I close my eyes I'll end up back there. And I know I will anyway, because eventually, I'm just going to pass out, but until then…"
Jotaro watched his friend with mounting horror and guilt. Sure, he hadn't stepped in when everything had been happening, and, in retrospect, he should have. Because he had known something was up. Kakyoin was always level-headed, he never jumped to conclusions he hadn't calculated thoroughly. Honestly, if the old man and Polnareff hadn't been so convinced, he would have stepped in, and he really should have.
"Kakyoin…"
"Don't," the red-head snapped. "Don't try to apologize. I know it wasn't really your fault, but you could have at least listened."
Jotaro felt another bite of guilt. "Yeah, yeah we could have. I still may not remember what happened, but…I'm sorry you had to go through that, and I'm sorry we didn't believe you. I know this doesn't mean anything, but I do believe you now."
Kakyoin wrapped his arms around his drawn-up knees. "I'm so tired," he whispered.
"Try the tea," Jotaro told him.
Kakyoin glanced over at the steaming cup, looking torn, then finally reached out and cupped it in his shaking hands.
"My…my mom swears by this stuff," Jotaro said, his heart clenching at the mention of his mother. "Never really thought it worked, but I guess it's better than nothing." He took a sip from his own mug.
"I don't know if I can…" Kakyoin whispered hesitantly.
"Kakyoin, you need to sleep," Jotaro said firmly. "You're gonna drop if you don't. You already look like shit."
Kakyoin huffed then hesitantly sipped the tea and Jotaro did the same. It didn't taste great, but maybe it would help. They drank the tea in silence for a long time, just waiting for it to help make them drowsy.
"It's not that I'm not tired," Kakyoin finally admitted. "I'm exhausted. I want to sleep for a week. But I'm scared. I just…I want to forget about all of it."
"The baby's long gone," Jotaro told him simply. "I don't think his Stand range would reach us."
Kakyoin looked at him with narrowed eyes. "That doesn't exactly help my irrational fear, Jojo."
Jotaro huffed. "Okay then, what can we do to make you feel safe enough to sleep? You wanna leave the light on?"
"Maybe," Kakyoin said, drinking the last of the tea and drooping further against the pillows. "I don't know how much good it will do though."
Jotaro set aside his mostly empty mug and pulled his knees up to his chest on the bed, resting back. "I can sit up with you. If you want to talk…I don't mind."
Kakyoin sighed heavily, eyes drooping. He suddenly gasped and jolted upright again, body practically trembling with the surge of nothing but adrenaline keeping him awake.
"Hey," Jotaro sat up. "Just try to relax, let the tea work, and go to sleep."
"I—I can't," Kakyoin choked out, starting to scramble out of bed. "I can't do this!"
Jotaro was on his feet the instant Kakyoin was out of bed and it was a good thing too because the redhead instantly went tumbling toward the floor, body so exhausted his coordination was nonexistent. The taller boy just barely managed to save him from smashing his head on the side table.
He was shocked when Kakyoin latched onto his shirt, shaking and nearly hyperventilating. "Please don't let me fall asleep, Jotaro!"
"Kakyoin," Jotaro said sharply, pushing the other boy down onto the bed and crouching in front of him. "Listen to me. How did you get out of the dream world?"
Kakyoin whimpered, blinking heavily as he swayed. "I—I woke up."
"But how did you defeat the Stand?"
Several more deep breaths before, "With—with Hierophant. Th-the only reason he was there was because he was out when Polnareff knocked me out. If he hadn't been with me, I'd be dead…"
"Then maybe, bring him out while you sleep?" Jotaro asked quietly, trying to be reassuring, but god he was bad at this.
Kakyoin shook his head, terror in his damp eyes. "I can't," he whispered. "I'm too tired. I can't even call him." He swayed again, but this time it wasn't Jotaro who caught him.
Star Platinum seemed to have manifested without Jotaro knowing, hovering behind Kakyoin, and as the boy slumped to the side, the Stand caught him in his arms, wrapping Kakyoin up into a tight embrace.
"Ora," the Stand said quietly, almost reassuringly.
Kakyoin seemed to calm slightly, finally getting his breath back. Star continued to hold him tightly, even rocking him slightly. Jotaro was a bit embarrassed, not knowing why his Stand was doing this.
"Sorry," he muttered. "Star, come on…"
"N-no, it's—it's fine," Kakyoin said and to Jotaro's surprised he was almost melting into the Stand's embrace, blinking heavily. Star Platinum gave a sad smile and helped position Kakyoin in the bed, still just hovering there, huge purple arms wrapped around the redhead.
"You sure? I can make him stop." He thought. But he hadn't called Star Platinum in the first place, and wasn't even sure why he was out.
But if he was actually helping and Hierophant was too exhausted due to Kakyoin's own state, then maybe Jotaro didn't mind lending Kakyoin his Stand for the night. Star was a pretty reassuring presence.
"Ora," the Stand murmured again and continued the soft rocking motion he had been doing.
Kakyoin still trembled but he seemed to relax a little more, eyes drooping further.
"You can sleep," Jotaro said. "I'll leave Star out, and I won't go to sleep until you do. That way, even if the Stand does attack us, we'll be in there together and Star too."
Kakyoin looked over at him. There was still fear in his eyes, and he swallowed hard. "Promise?" he asked.
"Yeah, I promise," Jotaro told him firmly.
Kakyoin swallowed again and gave a jerky nod before melting further into Star's embrace and finally letting his eyes slide shut.
It wasn't long before he finally, finally fell asleep, his body unable to stop itself from resting another second. As soon as Kakyoin had surrendered himself to it, he was out, completely limp.
Jotaro breathed a sigh of relief. He was sure this wasn't going to fix things entirely, you didn't just get over trauma like that, but if Kakyoin slept that night, then that was at least a start.
Star Platinum lowered Kakyoin onto the bed and then moved to sit on the end of his bed, hovering there, glowing slightly like some kind of guardian spirit.
And really, wasn't that what Stands were in a way? Jotaro sank into bed too, and closed his eyes, feeling better himself for Star's presence.
Maybe he would sleep better that night as well.
Pull Me Under - Stardust Crusaders
When I set out to write this story, I did not intend for it to be so emotional. I guess that’s what you get when you take inspiration from a song about Hamlet. Please enjoy.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGRgAULYgWE
All that I feel is honor and spite
All I can do is to set it right
My alarm sounded, sending a shot of adrenaline through my body. Not a lot, just enough to wake me up. I reached over and shut the thing off. Pulling myself out of my futon, I crawled over to the sliding paper door. Pulling it open, the cool morning air rushed in and birds greeted me with song. Much longer, and the frost would start setting in. I would need my winter bedding before too long.
I stuck my head out of the room, trying to hear any movement or conversation in the compound. It was a large series of buildings grouped around a large garden, so knowing where people were was a bit hard. Still, it couldn't hurt to check. Especially with Joseph and Muhammed Avdol staying with us. Though, I think it would be pretty easy to find Joseph if I needed to. His normal speaking voice was louder than most, and he had a habit of yelling all the time.
I slowly stood up, trying to let my body figure out what it was doing. My joints don't like to work first thing in the morning. Once I worked the kinks out and my body was responsive, I went to the bathroom and got ready for school. I put on my required uniform. I missed the public school I went to in New York, where I could wear whatever I wanted. But then again, the teachers there didn't really care about their students. Where education was very lax in the States, schools were cutthroat in Japan. Everything depended on your grades and how you ranked. To be honest, I didn't know which one I preferred.
When I was done, I straightened up my room and headed outside. The buildings on the property were connected by a series of porches and bridges, all circling around the main garden. It was based on traditional Japanese architecture, and was intended to evoke the feeling of a sprawling castle.  I wandered over a few buildings where the kitchen was set. I leaned against the doorway and looked inside.
Inside, Holly was busy with breakfast as she usually was. Today she was making a more American breakfast, as opposed to the traditional Japanese meals she enjoyed cooking. This was probably because her father was staying. She hummed to herself as she turned the food in the pan. I didn't see anyone else in the kitchen, either because they weren't awake or hadn't found their way in.
Holly noticed me, waving her spatula at me. "Good morning, (Y/N)!" She smiled wide at me. "Breakfast will be done in a minute."
I knelt at the low table. "Good morning. Anything going on today?"
"Just the usual," oil sizzled as she cooked. "I hope to catch up with my dad today. We talk on the phone all the time, but it's just not the same."
"I bet." My parents used to go on business trips all the time, so I could understand the sentiment. My father was a member of the Speedwagon Foundation, so he traveled a lot as a translator helping on different assignments. He was also a bit if an intermediary between Joseph and the Speedwagon Foundation. My mother also worked under him, though not in the Foundation. She helped the Joestar name become synonymous with real estate. To be honest, it was probably because of Joseph that they got together in the first place. Travel was important to their work, and the phone was my only link to them sometimes. But it was never as good as when they were home again.
"It feels like forever since I last saw him," she thought out loud. "How long has it been? It must have been a few years now..." She started counting on her fingers.
I looked down at my hands. I tried to keep the emotions under control. "Six. It's been six years."
"Yes! I remember now!" She scooped up the food and placed it on a platter. "Let's see, six years ago..." She placed the food on the table in front of me. "That was when he brought you in after the..." She stopped just before she finished the sentence.
"I told you, you don't have to avoid it around me," I did my best to keep my eyes from filling with tears. "That was the accident. The one my parents died in."
Holly was silent for a moment, taking in my expression. She knelt down in front of me and took my hands in hers. "Dad said that he and the Speedwagon Foundation would be investigating what happened. I'm sure he will have some information about their deaths."
I nodded, but I didn't really believe her. It was the same story she always told me. If there was any information to be found, it would have been found years ago. Yes, everything around their deaths had been very strange, but that all could have been crazy coincidence. Had I known that they would end up dead, would I have come with them? It was the first trip where I would be with the both of them, so I was so excited to go. But then again, I would have been left alone again in our home in New York City, for a very long time.
Holly looked deep into my eyes. "I know you miss them very much, (Y/N). I miss them too. I think about your mother every day." She squeezed my hands. "She was one of my closest friends."
"I know. I remember." This wasn't the first time she went down memory lane like this. I knew the story. But it didn't change the emotional weight her words had. I could feel the tears bubbling up.
She smiled, a hint of sadness behind her eyes. "When Dad brought you here, you were like a daughter to me from then on. I love you so much. I don't know what I would do without you, (Y/N)."
I closed my eyes, letting a few dears run down my cheeks. Damn, I thought that this stuff wouldn't affect me this bad once I got old enough. I felt arms reach around me, pulling me into a hug only a mother could give. I let the warm embrace envelop me, breathing in her signature perfume. I don't know how long we stayed like that, but it wasn't long enough. She released the hug, wiping the tears from my eyes before going back to her cooking. I did my best to clean myself up before anyone walked in. When I thought I finished, I grabbed some food Holly had placed on the table, letting the flavors wash over me.
It wasn't very long before Jotaro wordlessly stalked into the kitchen. He crossed the room and pulled out the toaster. Plopping in a few slices of bread, he pushed down on the lever in one long motion
"Good morning, Jotaro!" Holly sang as she flung her arms out to hug him. After she collided with him, he nudged her off with a few curses under his breath. "I made breakfast! Make sure you eat before you head off to school!" She collected herself and went back to what she was doing. "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! You have to start the day off right!"
Jotaro grumbled as the toast popped up out of the toaster. He stuck a slice in his mouth and brought the rest over to sit next to me. He plopped down, munching. He didn't have a plate, of course. He didn't need a plate to eat toast. Plates were for plebeians.
"Hey." I said. He gave me a nod before taking another bite of toast. I didn't like to talk much when I was eating, and neither did he. I went back to my food.
I felt his eyes on me, longer than I was used to. I looked up from my breakfast to see him staring at me. "What's wrong with you? Are you okay?" He asked bluntly.
I blinked. Did I not wipe all the tears off my face? Were my eyes still red from crying? Whatever it was, I didn't feel like talking about it any more than I already had. "No, I'm fine," I croaked out between bites.
His eyes lingered on me with some suspicion. He knew me too well by this point, but he didn't push the subject. He took another chunk out of his toast, scowling a bit more than usual.
When we had finished eating, we gathered our things and got ready to leave for school. Jotaro and I met at the front of the complex as we usually did every morning. We were about to leave before we heard a voice call out behind us.
"Don't go yet!" Holly jogged up to us, still wearing her pink slippers. She stopped in front of Jotaro as he turned around, "You forgot your goodbye kisses!" She leaned forward, up on the tips of her toes to reach him. She was still a few inches too short.
"You're such a bitch," Jotaro shoved her off. "Stop treating me like I'm still a little kid." He walked away without looking back.
"Okay!" She called to him with her usual cheeriness, a big smile on her face.
I looked back at Holly and shook my head. "He'll grow out of it," I whispered so Jotaro couldn't hear. " I'm sure this is just a phase. He used to adore you when he was younger."
"I know," she sighed, gazing at him with nostalgia in her eyes. "He's still the same boy that wanted me to watch him score his goals, and begged me to make him the same dinner every night."
I leaned in, giving her a brief hug. The scent of her perfume filled my senses. "Just be patient with him. He'll come around eventually."
"You're right," she said into my ear. She kissed my forehead and pulled away. "Watch him for me, okay? With all the trouble he gets into, I worry about him. "
I nodded with a smile. "I always do, Holly." I turned and ran to catch up with Jotaro. He didn't acknowledge me when I matched his long strides.
We walked the usual route to school, letting the comfortable silence surround us. It was how we liked it. That was how it stayed, until...
"Jojo?"
"Is that Jojo?"
"Hey, Jojo!"
"Jojo!"
"Over here, Jojo!"
The fangirls. They annoyed the hell out of the both of us. These girls saw Jotaro as prey, a way to gain status by taking the badass as a boyfriend. Once they figured out that I was just a "sibling," and not a girlfriend like they assumed, they started using every dirty trick to get his attention and affection. Jokes on them. Because of the number of girls fawning over him, there was immense competition. Fighting could turn violent at times. But they usually distracted each other, so we didn't have to intervene much.
A dark haired girl latched onto Jotaro's arm, butting in between us. I tried my best not to get aggravated as she nudged me aside. "So Jojo, where have you been?" Her voice sickeningly sweet. He ignored her and kept walking. "You've been out of school for four days! What happened?"
His only response was a cold glare, a warning to her. Despite his cold and menacing demeanor, all it did was make her blush and stare wistfully into his eyes. I scoffed a bit. She was probably more in love with the fantasy of him than the actual Jotaro. In order to do that, you would have to get to know him, and that was something these girls would never do. If they did, they would find out that he was a human, not the brooding god they were hoping for.
Another fangirl elbowed the brunette away from his arm. "How dare you!" she accused, her red hair vibrant in the morning sun. The only thing appealing about her, really. "I don't like how friendly you are getting with him."
I closed the gap between Jotaro and me. I wouldn't call their actions "friendly." They were much too aggressive, too selfish. The two girls chattered behind us, slinging insults at each other with increasing intensity.
I gave Jotaro a questioning look, asking him if he was still alright in one expression. He responded with an aggravated look. Not an uncommon thing with him. But I could tell these girls were getting to him. I looped my arm around his, partly to reassure him, partly to keep anyone else from getting to him.
Behind us, the two angry fangirls were becoming louder and more agitating. Their bickering reaching a terrible crescendo, voices hitting higher and higher notes. I was about to say something spiteful and bitchy, when I felt Jotaro twist around suddenly.
"Shut up!" He shouted. "You're so fucking annoying!" This wasn't his breaking point, but I knew this was his last warning to them. I turned and shot them a glare, trying to add to the aggressive message. It wasn't long before they were swooning again, faces flushed and letting out sighs. I shook my head and focused on walking.
The girls continued to walk behind us, a little farther behind and little more quiet. We continued our walk with the entourage trailing behind. We came to a long set of stairs, the divider between the suburbs and the main city itself, the tall skyscrapers framing the morning sky. We passed under the tall red gate and descended the stairs. Branches passed by as we took step after step, brushing against my arms and legs.
From the corner of my eye, I saw a fountain of blood splash across the stone. I felt Jotaro push me away, and I watched as he began the long fall down the stairs. I shouted his name, trying to pick myself up. I heard the girls behind me panic and scream.
This couldn't be happening. It all came out of nowhere, everything changing so fast. It seemed like a nightmare. Whether it was or not, I had to do something.  I stumbled to my feet and tried to summon my stand, thinking desperately to figure out a way to stop his fall.
Jotaro must have had the same idea, because he summoned his own stand and used him to grab a hold of some of the branches passing by. They bent and warped, slowing his descent until he rested at the bottom of the hill. I stopped what I was doing. I grabbed our bags and went down the stairs as fast as I could without falling myself.
I met him at the bottom of the hill, letting out a sigh when I saw he was alive. His face was white, his breaths ragged gasps for air. He stood up and brushed the leaves and sticks off his clothes. He looked around like he was trying my figure something out.
"What happened?" I quietly asked. There was a long gash in his knee, blood oozing down his skin and seeping into the fabric of his pants. I reached into my bag, looking for a handkerchief. I thought I had one, but I guess I was wrong.
He shook his head. "I don't know. Something's not right," he said in a low voice, almost as if he was afraid someone would hear him.
"Jojo!" The gaggle of girls finally made their way to the bottom of the stairs. They circled us, asking all sorts of questions. Some were trying to get closer to Jotaro, offering to hold his hand to prevent any more accidents. He ignored them and looked through his coat, looking for something to tend his wound with.
I felt eyes on me, dark and devious eyes. I looked around me. Descending the stairs was a student around our age. His uniform didn't match our school's standard, being green instead of blue. His hair was bright red, almost unnaturally so. A white scarf wrapped around his frame like bandages for the dead. He was almost as tall as Jotaro, and his face was cold and stony. He stopped in front of us, reaching into his pocket and to bring out a square of cloth.
"You seem to be injured," he said, quiet and monotone. His eyes were dangerous and empty at the same time. "Use this. It will stop the bleeding."
"Thanks," Jotaro took the handkerchief. His eyes were narrowed with suspicion.
"And you," the stranger turned to me. Everything about him seemed so off, like he wasn't human. His voice sent a shiver down my spine. "It looks like you scraped your elbow." He pointed at my left arm.
I looked down at my elbow. The outer layer of my skin had been shredded, letting blood seep out between the little that remained. Now that I was looking at it, it instantly started to hurt. It must have happened when Jotaro pushed me away.
"It would be a shame if your wound got infected," he turned slowly and robotically, walking away with a strange stride.
"Hold it,"Jotaro called out. "You didn't let me thank you. What's your name?"
The stranger stopped, swiveling a bit. "My name is Noriaki Kakyoin."
"You don't look like you are from around here," I spoke before he could get away. "You're not wearing the proper uniform if you were a student."
"I'm a transfer student. I moved here two days ago." He lurched forward again. "See you around." He walked away without saying another word. Jotaro and I stood there for a few moments, trying to figure out what had just happened.
After a while, we finally made it to school. The girls said their goodbyes and wandered off to wherever they needed to go. When they had all left, I looked at Jotaro. His cut was still oozing. It might even need stitches. His injury was worse than he was letting on.
"Let's head to the nurse's office," I said quietly. "Your leg's still bleeding, and I need a bandage for my elbow." He gave me a slight nod, quiet as always. I walked off, leading the way.
We walked through the halls of the school, finding our way to the door with the white cross decal in the window. I swung it open, letting Jotaro stalk in after me. The nurse noticed us as she chatted with two other students laying cots across from her. She turned to us with her perfectly practiced smile.
"Jotaro, (Y/N). What a surprise," she let a bit of sarcasm slip in. The boys she was talking to had confused looks on their faces. "What can I do for you two, so early in the morning?"
I let the door close. "We had a bit of an accident. Can you patch us up?"
"Accident?" One of the boys spoke up. "Most of your accidents send people to the hospital." A smirk etched itself into his face. The other boy chuckled.
The nurse waved him into silence. "What kind of injuries do you have?"
I showed my elbow. "I only need a bandage." I motioned to Jotaro. "He needs more attention then I do. He's been bleeding pretty badly for a while now."
She looked between us. She reached into a drawer, pulling out the appropriate sized bandage. She walked over and carefully placed it on my injury. "You should be alright, it doesn't look that bad." She turned to Jotaro and gestured to a chair. "You will have to take a seat. I'll need a better look at your leg."
Jotaro silently did as he was told, leaning a little too far back into the chair. The nurse looked back at me. "If you don't have any other issues, you had better head to class. I don't want you creating any more trouble for yourself." She gave me a smile before heading back to work.
"Don't get your hopes up, lady," the other boy mused from his cot.
I glanced over at Jotaro. "I'll see you later, then." He gave me a slight nod. I turned and walked out of the door.
I stood outside the office, wondering what I was going to do next. I had a backlog of schoolwork to get caught up on. Holly pulled me out of school when Jotaro decided to not leave jail. Family emergency, I guess. To be honest, I was getting tired of school, and I didn't want to deal with it all today. Thing was, Japanese schools don't like it when people are up moving around, or in places they deem are off limits to students. What to do...
Well, I had packed a few snacks this morning. The roof was off limits, but if I was sneaky about it, I could hang out up there for a while. A nap would be nice as well. It was a nice place to waste time. I made up my mind and headed to the set of stairs leading to the roof. The door to the roof was always kept locked, but I had a way to get it open.
I snuck up the stairs. I had to work fast if I didn't want to be seen. When I reached the top, I pressed my hand against the door. I felt my stand materialize behind me. It reached forward with thin, needlelike fingers. They slid into the gears of the lock, pressing and pulling on the mechanisms. With a few expert motions, the lock gave a small click. I tugged on the knob and felt the door slowly swing open.
I stepped into the bright sunlight beaming down from above. I quietly let the door click shut, the lock resetting. I looked over the rooftop, trying to find a place where I couldn't be seen but still sit in the sun. After a bit of searching, I found a place that would work. I tried to make myself comfortable and brought out my snacks.
I chuckled to myself a bit. Japanese culture would say this was delinquent behavior. American culture would say that I was just being a normal mischievous teenager. Whatever it was I was doing, it felt kind of good. I opened a bag and took out one of my favorite foods. As I looked over the edge of the building I started munching a bit, watching the birds as they came and went.
I felt a rumble from the building under me. My first thought was earthquake. They happened often enough here. Thing was, this didn't feel like an earthquake. The trees didn't move much around me. Something had happened from within the building. God, I hope Jotaro wasn't getting into more trouble. But then again, there could be utility issues going on. Pipes bursting or the furnace giving out.
I started to pick up my things. Whatever it was, I needed to get off the roof. It would be a long fall if the building should collapse, even if it was just part of the structure. Getting caught was also not fun. Where would I hide after this? There aren't many places in the school where teachers didn't search regularly for misbehaving students.
I felt a few smaller quakes under me. Panic started to set in. I rounded up the rest of my stuff and ran to the door. My stand manifested, beginning its work on the lock. Damn it, why did it take so much longer to unlock something when you don't have any time? It fumbled around more than it should have, making silly mistakes.
The building started shaking again, more violent this time. It continued to gain energy, so much so that my stand couldn't keep hold of the lock. Suddenly, I heard the windows shatter and implode. Shards rained down to the ground and clattered against the concrete. The walls and floor began to crack. I watched as parts of the roof began to sink, small parts crumbling to the rooms below.
I took a moment to take a deep breath. I had to get out of here, and quickly. I couldn't do that if I was panicking. I looked at the door in front of me. The quake had caused the wall to warp and crack. Some fairly large ones ran around the door. I had to be careful about this. The wall could fall over any time if I was too reckless.
My stand inserted its fingers into the mechanism again, this time very slow and deliberate with its actions. Every movement felt like a dance with death. After a very tenses few second and a few more clicks of the lock, the door swung open with little effort.
With a little smile I called off my stand. So far, so good. I pushed open the door before it closed again and locked itself. Cautiously, I tiptoed into the foyer. The bells were ringing in alarm throughout the entire school. The walls were crumbling. All the windows had been shattered.
I should have been paying more attention. I had let go of the door, letting sling close like I would normally do. It was the force that caused the wall to give out. I heard the crumbling and the moaning. I whipped around to see it looming over me, beginning its slow descent to crush me. Panic set in, and I threw myself out of the way. The wall crashed and broke apart as it hit the floor. Debris hit me in the arms and  torso. Dust filled the air and began to settle on my hair and clothes.
I took a moment to breathe. Had I been a second too slow, I would have been crushed. Another close brushed with death. I looked around. The wall had made a lot of noise, and it could have alerted someone. A few minutes passed by, and no one came wandering by. Somewhat relieved, I picked myself off the floor.
I carefully wandered down the stairs. If the wall could give out, the staircase definitely could. I needed to head to the first floor where the nurse's office was situated. After I found Jotaro, it would be best to get out of the school. Teachers would naturally be suspicious of us. Besides, the whole place was a death trap now.
I successfully made my way down two stories without the building collapse around me further. I hopped off the last step and rounded the corner, creeping down the hall. The bells had started to cause ringing in my ears. I had to avoid teachers and other students. I didn't want any more trouble. I made my way to the nurse's office, swinging open a door sitting on its last hinges.
The inside of that room had the worst damage in the whole school. Entire walls had been ripped out, the ceiling was falling to pieces. The windows had been blasted out, and the equipment and furniture had been rendered unrecognizable. I took a step inside and took a look around, searching for any sign of Jotaro.
In a corner of the room, the nurse was lying unconscious. Her blouse had been ripped open and her blood pooled around her. I carefully walked over to her, looking her over. Her wounds seemed superficial. If I didn't know any better, I would say that she might have been sexually assaulted. But things had been too strange around here to give any definitive answers. I didn't have the strength to move her, and I could hurt her just as much as I could help. It would be best just to leaver her.
I stood up and looked around. A figure moving around outside caught my eye. I moved to the empty windows to get a better look. Jotaro was walking to the front gate, a body slung over his shoulder. What the hell was he up to? Did he kill someone? I had to get to him. But I couldn't walk out the front door. I managed to hop though the window without cutting myself on the glass. I hit the ground and ran over to him.
"Jotaro, wait!" I huffed, pounding against the pavement. He gave me a slight look. It was all he could do and not lose the body on his shoulder. I slowed down to match his stride. "What happened? And who is that?" I gasped out.
He didn't say anything for a few moments. "He tried to kill me."
"What?"
He didn't speak again. "He attacked me in the nurse's office. The coward used the nurse against me, using her as some sort of puppet. I put an end to it."
I looked over the body. It was the transfer student we had run into before. Had he been the source of Jotaro's accident? I glanced back up to him. "Did you kill him?"
He shook his head.
I sighed. "Okay, so what are we doing with him?"
"I'm going to show him to the old man. He might know something about him. He might have something to do with DIO."
I took a few moments to think over what he said. "Alright. I'm coming along too. I can't let you have all the fun."
We arrived home soon after. Jotaro shifted the limp body on his shoulder and we entered the front building. "Damn it," he muttered under his breath. "This place is too big."
I instantly understood what he meant. "I'll go look for Joseph. You hang tight until I come get you, okay?" He paused a moment, but gave a reluctant nod.
I walked throughout the compound, opening doors to rooms they might be in. They had to be somewhere. I passed over bridges and slid open doors. It wasn't long before even I was getting irritated.
As I was opening another door, I heard conversation a little bit down. That is to say, I heard Joseph's booming voice. Unless he was crazy, he was talking to someone. Probably Avdol. I walked down a few doors and opened the one into the tea room.
As I slid the door open to find Joseph and Advol sitting on the floor, sipping on some hot drinks and deep in discussion. When they saw me in the doorway, they stopped and looked at me quizzically.
"(Y/N)," Joseph looked up at me. "What's going on? I thought you were at school."
"I was," I looked around to see if I could find Jotaro."But something came up. You're going to want to see this."
I popped my head out the door an glimpsed Jotaro. He was talking with his mother, doing what they normally do. I waved him down. He saw me and came over, Kakyion still bleeding over his shoulder.
"See what?" Joseph asked. He put away his tea set, which he was using for his disusting instant coffee. "What happened to you? Why are you covered in dust?"
Jotaro appeared in the doorway beside me. Joseph and Avdol took in the sight of us both. Me covered in plaster and rubble, Jotaro drenched in his own blood and the blood of our mysterious transfer student. He walked in and laid Kakyoin out on the floor in front of them.
"Do you know him?" Jotaro asked. "He tried to kill me." He then gave the abridged version of what happened in the nurse's office. I walked in and stood beside him as he talked.
Joseph thought it over, stroking his beard. "I hate to say this, but there's no chance he's making it out alive. He has a few days to live, at most."
"What do you mean?" I piped up. "Jotaro might have beat him senseless, but that couldn't be enough to kill him!"
"It's not Jotaro's fault." He leaned forward and pulled back Kakyoin's bangs. "Look!"
In the center of his forehead, just along the hairline, a thing that looked like a pimple with legs pulsated and moved. This wasn't regular teenage acne. This was something evil.
"What is that thing?" Jotaro asked with disgust. "Is that what made him swear allegiance to DIO?"
"Yes," Avdol said calmly. "It's called a flesh bud. It is constructed from DIO's cells. It may be small, but it has the power to control the mind of it's victim."
"CHARISMA!" Joseph announced with passion and fury. "DIO wields the same power that leads soldiers into battle, and believers to follow corrupt cult leaders! Kakyoin is only one of his lackeys! There will be many more, and they will not stop until we all are dead!"
"Then just remove the bud," Jotaro said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Joseph shook his head, his voice serious again. "That won't work. Removing it could cause severe injury to his brain. He would be subject to a fate worse than death. In the end, the bud always consumes the brain totally and completely."
During the conversation, the gears in my head had been turning and grinding. It was a bit of a long shot, but if Jotaro was set on saving Kakyoin's life, we didn't have much of a choice. "What if..." I said slowly, "I used my stand to separate the bud from his brain?"
"You never mentioned you had a stand," Avdol replied in his low voice.
I stood there a bit awkwardly. "I... never felt the need to bring it up. It's not very strong, and it doesn't seem very capable of fighting. It's very useful though. I think I'll be able to separate it from his brain, but my stand won't have the strength to remove it completely."
Jotaro summoned his stand. "That won't be a problem." His stern eyes bored into mine. "Get the damn thing loose, and I'll take care of the rest."
I nodded and summoned my own stand. I knelt on the floor, situated just above Kakyoin's head. Jotaro did the same on the opposite side. I reached out and held Kakyoin's head between my hands to keep him steady, with Jotaro mirroring my actions. Then, my stand reached out with its long fingers, sliding them between the flesh bud and the hard bone of his skull. They felt deeper and deeper, carefully feeling around the pulsing parasite. It slowly pulled the deep root of the bud away from the soft tissues of his brain. The stand's fingers plunged deeper, until there was no more root left to find.
"I think I got it," I said, the stress coming through in my voice. My stand held its fingers in place, waiting for the next part. "You'll have to finish it out, Jotaro."
He nodded. His stand reached out and grabbed the external part of the bud. The tension hung in the air, breathing it in as we tried to remain calm. The stand pulled the pulsing bud, exposing the root beneath. The legs began to slide out of the wounds they created.
One leg shot away from the bud. It hit Jotaro in the hand, writhing under the skin and working it way up his arm. I gasped as another dislodged itself and collided with my wrist. I could feel it sink under my skin, sliding over the muscle up my arm. Joseph and Avdol exclaimed beside me. As much as I wanted to panic and yank it out, it would kill Kakyoin. Any mistake would be lethal. I just had to trust Jotaro would succeed.
Kakyoin's eyes flashed open. They roamed over our faces and the stands as they worked.
"W-Why?" He managed to get out. "Why would you do this?"
"Don't move," I commanded. "This will all be over in a minute" Yeah, one way or another.
Jotaro's stand was still struggling against the flesh bud. I could feel the tentacle slide under the skin in my neck and into my face. I looked up to see the one in Jotaro had almost reached his forehead. I had to stay steady. I took a breath in to calm myself.
With one final pull, the bud was pulled free. Jotaro's stand took hold of the tentacles that had wormed into our bodies and pulled them out with a slurping sound. He launched the bud into the air.
"Overdrive!" Blinding yellow light erupted from Joseph's hand. With one swipe, the bud shrivelled and withered away. It left nothing but dust and the memory of the horrible thing. I didn't think his stand could do something like that.
I sat back and let my stand dematerialize. I rubbed the wound on my wrist. It was oozing blood down my hand. I hadn't expected the bud to fight back like that.  I let out a ragged breath. I slowly stood up and walked to the door to breathe in some fresh air. I could feel Jotaro make his way beside me.
Kakyoin slowly sat up and rubbed his forehead. Blood was running from the hole drilled into his brain. I could tell he was a little out of it still. How much was in control the past few days? How aware was he of his own actions? His blurry eyes made their way over to us.
"Tell me..." He wracked his brain for the right words. "Why did you save my life? After all that I've done..."
Jotaro walked past me, stepping onto the porch. He let the sun hit his face. "I don't really know." He said curtly.
I shook my head. 'Because you're a good person,' I thought to myself. Whether he realized it or not, under that sulky and angsty exterior was a heart of gold. He deeply cared about people. I think he had a problem showing it.
Holly rounded the corner, a bowl of medical supplies in her hands. She was basically a nurse at this point. There were so many times she had to patch us up after fights or scrapes or accidents. She knelt down in front of Kakyoin and began work on cleaning him up. We quickly filled her in on what happened to get him into such a state.
When she had finished and had him bandaged up, she sat back in satisfaction. "There," she nodded to herself with a smile. "All done."
Kakyoin looked at his hands, avoiding eye contact with anyone. "Thank you. For everything," he said quietly, almost too low to hear. This whole ordeal must have been hard on him.
"From what it sounds like, you've had a very eventful day. You better stay here and rest up for a while." She turned to Joseph. "Papa, get a futon ready for him," she ordered
"Huh?" He looked at her with a confused look. "Why do I have to? I don't like sleeping on the damn floor anyway." He crossed his arms and looked pouty. "In fact, get that stupid thing out of my room and replace it with a real bed!"
"No way," Holly replied stubbornly. "You are in Japan now. And in Japan, we sleep on the floor."
This was going to go on for a while. It would probably be best to attend to the patient. I knelt down next to Kakyoin. "Do you have any family you need me to call? I'm sure they will worry about you."
He looked at me with a stunned expression. I could see the hesitation behind his eyes. "Yes, here." He took a pen from his pocket and looked for something to write on. He settled on a piece of bandage. He scribbled a number down and bashfully handed it to me. I gave him a smile and stood up.
"Holly's a beautiful name! I gave it to you MYSELF!" Joseph yelled, being much too loud for such a small room.
I walked out the door, passing Jotaro. "Yare, Yare..." he muttered before following me. He wandered his way back to his room, while I made my way to the nearest telephone. The sounds of argument followed me as I travelled around the compound.
I stepped inside the kitchen and picked up the receiver off the mounted base. I held up the bandage to get a good look at the number. The ink had bled some, almost obscuring the digits. I dialed the number into the phone.
As I listened to the phone try to connect, I thought to myself. I would have to use a different name to not confuse Kakyoin's family. An American name would only tip them off. Someone picked up the phone of the other end.
"Yes, Hello. My name is (Y/N) Kujo...
"HOLLY!"
I woke up to his sleepy, rambly yelling as he paced up and up the compound. I had planned on sleeping in. It seemed Joseph had other ideas.
"You gave me Jotaro's pants! Where the hell are mine?"
I sighed. Flipping the covers off me, I pulled myself out of bed. We had decided that it was too risky to go back to school. It was the perfect place for ambush, as yesterday proved. I dragged myself into the bathroom and brushed my teeth. Jotaro was going, but I think that was just to get away from all the craziness at home. It was getting to be a little too much. Can't say I blamed him. If anyone could deal with idiots and enemies, it would be him.
"No! My daughter has one name! HOLLY!" Joseph's voice echoes across the compound.
I stood in front of my closet, trying to figure out what I was going to wear. I was tired of the school uniforms. I looked around for something more casual. When I finally found something, I slipped it on and headed outside. Holly would probably be done with breakfast by now. It would be nice to eat next to the pond this morning.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Joseph's voice pulled me out of my thoughts. This wasn't what he usually sounded like. His voice was full of sadness and despair. It sent shivers down my spine. Something terrible must have happened for him to be like this. I ran across the compound toward the source of the cry.
I came to a halt in front of the kitchen. Intense conversation was happening between Joseph and Jotaro.
"We have to find DIO!" Joseph was saying. I had never heard him sound like this. "The only way to break this curse is to find him, and kill him!"
What?
I stepped into the kitchen. I felt my stomach tighten, my throat close. Before me, Joseph and Jotaro seemed to be at each other's throats. Behind them, Avdol was kneeling on the floor, cradling Holly's body. She was sweating from fever, her breaths coming short and haggard. Strange vines were starting to wrap around her.
I looked between everyone, not knowing who to ask. "What happened? What's wrong with her?"
No one said anything. After a while, Advol was the one who spoke up. Everything about him was serious and level headed. "Her stand is making her ill. It's too powerful even for her. If we don't find a way to stop it, she will die."
My blood went cold, then began to boil. No, not again. It can't happen again. I grabbed a hold of the doorframe to steady myself. This can't happen. I won't let this happen.
I felt a hand on my shoulder. I glanced up to see Joseph towering over me. His face was etched with concern. "(Y/N), go get her bed ready, and something comfortable for her to change into. We need to move her out of here."
I gave a small nod. I walked towards her bedroom, feeling like the world was spinning around me. It felt like anger was taking hold in my heart as I got her futon ready and picked out her favorite nightgown. I watched in silence as Holly was carried in. After everything was settled, I broke away from the little group. Anger was causing me to shake a bit, and I didn't like it when people saw me out of control. I walked away as Joseph started to bring in a collection of cameras.
There was a little alcove of trees that sat right next to the water. It was easily accessible, while staying somewhat hidden. It was perfect for times like this. I sat myself down on the soft ground. I let the sounds of the bamboo fountain and the birds ease me. I folded my legs under me. I glared into the water below. Despite my best efforts, emotions started to bubble up from the depths of my soul. Emotions I hadn't felt in a long time. Emotions I didn't dare deal with, scared of what would happen if I did.
I don't know how much time had passed when I heard footsteps coming my way. I continued to stare into the water, pretending like I didn't hear them. Maybe they would go away if I didn't make myself known. I not ready to give up being upset.
I was extremely annoyed when Joseph meandered into my grove. "There you are. Jotaro said you might be here."
'Lovely,' I thought to myself. Of course, I couldn't be alone with these people.
He sat down next to me, hitting the ground with a groan. He rubbed the small in his back. "Sitting on the ground so much is starting to take its toll on my old body. I don't understand how the Japanese can do this all the time."
I didn't look at him, not really wanting to acknowledge him. "Did you find anything with Hermit Purple?" I spat out, very monotone.
He thought for a moment, pulling on his gloves. "We might be able to narrow down where DIO is. Jotaro was able to use his stand to draw a fly that was in one of the photos. Avdol is researching right now in the library. He thinks he can pinpoint where DIO is hinding.  We're just waiting for him to get back to us."
"Oh," I muttered. I wasn't wanting to contribute to the conversation much, and I wanted Joseph to go away.
I could feel his eyes on me. "Are you okay, (Y/N)? You seem to be taking this pretty hard."
I could feel anger rise up inside me again. I turned my head with a dramatic glare. "So is everyone else. That tends to happen when people have a dying relative, right?" I let the attitude come forth.
His brows furrowed immediately. "Don't get testy with me, (Y/N). I'm trying to help you here."
"I don't want you to help me!" I snapped back. "Just leave me alone."
Joseph sighed and rubbed his neck. "I'm only doing this because I care about you. You're not acting like normal."
"Like you would know how I act normally."
"I've know you since the day you were born. I watched you grow up. I think I know you pretty well."
I shook my head. I didn't want this. I was so upset. All I wanted was to find DIO and end him. Make him suffer as I have suffered. Grind him to dust. Bring his head back on a pike and show it to Holly when she woke up. Let her go back to living like she did before. My heart ached, but my body was consumed with hatred.
I felt Joseph's hand on my shoulder. I reluctantly met his gaze. "(Y/N), every one of us is determined to save her. I promise you, we'll kill DIO and bring Holly back to normal. You'll see."
I felt the world spinning without me. Something forced its way to the surface, something I had never known before. "You make a lot of promises," the words formed slowly and concisely. My mouth moved on its own. "But you never seem to go through with them. You promised you would find out what killed my parents." I felt control slipping. "It's been six years! SIX. YEARS. You haven't told me anything in all that time! My mother was your best employee! She was your daughter's best friend! My father was your intermediary to the Speedwagon Foundation. I'd think you would owe them more than that."
Joseph's shoulders sank. "I know, and I'm sorry. I was going to tell you everything and give you some sort of closure. The thing is, the more I dug into it, the more I found it was more complicated than I first thought." His eyes pleaded with me. "I didn't tell you anything to keep you safe. You parents were involved in some dangerous things. Things the Speedwagon Foundation keep very secret. If I told you, well. I didn't know what would happen."
I clenched my fists. I could feel myself begin to shake again. "Do you even know how it feels? To lose your parents, and not know what happened to them? How could you do this to me?"
His voice was soft. "Let me tell you a little story about myself." He adjusted himself on the gound. "I didn't know who my parents were until I was eighteen. I was raised by my Granny Erina and my Uncle Speedwagon. I didn't even recognize my mother when I finally met her."
I sat in silence, not knowing what to say or do. Joseph hesitated, like he didn't know how to say what he wanted to say.
"She knew the entire time, of course. She was the one who ended up training me and helped me defeat the Pillar Men. It wasn't until after she thought I had died that she told me what happened." He took a deep breath. "My father had been killed by one of DIO's zombies, left over from his battle with my grandfather Jonathan. She was scared for us both. She gave me to Granny Erina to take care of, then she went into hiding. She focused on her Hamon, so that something so terrible would never happen again. The entire time, no one told me anything."
I let his words sink in. He hadn't told me this before. Of all his grandiose stories of crashing planes, fighting ancient vampires, intense training with his friend Caesar, finding his wife Suzie Q in Italy, he had never mentioned any of that. Was it too painful? Or did it just not come up? Whatever had possessed me started to die down, leaving an empty feeling.
"I'm sorry, I... You never told me. I'm just so worked up. Holly..." I couldn't control myself. Tears started sliding down my face. "You guys are all I have left. I can't... I can't..."
The overwhelming concoction of emotions overtook me. The tears came so fast and so strong. Joseph pulled me into a hug, letting me sob into his chest. He rocked me back and forth. He stroked my head with his human hand. It was the first time in a long time that I had been so vulnerable. I clung to his shirt as I bawled and bawled.
When my tears had run dry, he pulled me away so he could get a good look at my face. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a handkerchief. "Here," he handed it to me.
I took it and began to clean my face. It was so wet, with what I could not tell. I didn't think I would get so emotional. This wasn't usually like me.
Joseph looked off in the distance like he was watching for something. "I'm sorry for all the pain I caused you, (Y/N). When all this is over, I'll get that information about your parents for you. Does that sound okay?" He waited for my answer.
I gave a small nod, handkerchief still pressed against my face. I looked down at his shirt. It was wet with all the tears I had shed.
He gave me a small smile. He slowly stood up with a groan. "I had better go see what Avdol's found anything. When you're ready, I think it would be a good idea for you to meet back with us. I think Jotaro has been worrying about you." After another nod from me, he quietly strolled away.
I sat next to the water, letting the last few tears slide down my face. I had never intended to get so emotional. I had hoped to drive him away so I could continue to languish in my emotions. I... Never thought he would end up telling me something like that.
I rubbed my face. Why had I gotten so upset in the first place? Why did I have to go digging up old hurt to use against Joseph? My past made me upset, for sure. But usually not that much. I had attacked him for something he had no control over. But then again, I didn't know that. I just... I don't think I was as at peace with myself as I had once thought. I didn't do any of the healing that was required to lay it to rest.
Did I still feel so angry and feel compelled to hunt down DIO? Yes, definitely. I would do whatever it took to make sure Holly was safe. I'll trade seven lives for one if I had to. Maybe more. The difference was, it didn't feel like it was consuming me. All I really felt was honor. Honor and spite.
I didn't know what had come over me before. Love? Hate? Fear? I couldn't tell. I didn't want to lose Holly. She was like a mother to me. Not that she could replace my own mother. But she had come into my life in a vulnerable time in my life. She had become important to me. Life wouldn't be the same without her.
I stood up and began walking back to Holly's room. I should check on her. I never got a good handle on her condition. The guys also probably made some headway in finding DIO. If they did, I wasn't going to let them leave without me. I wanted to be one of the reasons DIO comes to an end.
I wasn't okay. I didn't know if I was going to be okay. But if I had to sacrifice myself and my sanity to save Holly, I would do it in a heartbeat.
