~ One Year Prior ~
You were drunk out of your mind. So drunk you could hardly remember your own name. So why were you underneath your best friend, Josh Washington, moaning his name as his tongue licked long, tantalising stripes up your wet slit? The answer was beyond your comprehension to think right now, but you were enjoying it nonetheless. The two of you had been downstairs with Chris, drinking and partying, when eventually Chris had passed out on the table in the kitchen. A few flirty comments later and you were sneaking out of the room with Josh, hand-in-hand. He led you to his bedroom and that’s where you found yourself now. Sprawled out on his bed, completely naked as he lay underneath the covers giving you the best oral sex you had ever had. Your hands found their way into Josh’s hair, pushing his head further into your cunt since you were desperate for more. Josh happily obliged, shoving his tongue into your hole and lapping up like a dog starved. He grunted and groaned as he ate you out, strong hands holding your legs apart since you were guaranteed to close them if he didn’t. Josh pulled his tongue out of your hole and began kissing at your clit, nibbling ever so softly at the sensitive bundle of nerves between your legs. Within seconds you were cumming over his face, moaning quietly as you did. Your eyes rolled back as you threw your head back onto the pillow, biting your lip to stop the scream from escaping. You had no idea what your other friends were up to, but you didn’t want them to know that you were having sex with Josh. Not at this moment anyway. Josh grinned to himself, satisfied with the orgasm you had just had, but he was far from finished with you. His cock was so hard that he knew he had to be inside of you and so, he began to trail wet kisses up your navel, to your sternum and then to your neck. When he reached your neck, Josh began to nibble, hard enough to leave love bites that would form as a reminder of the passion-filled night in the morning.
“Oh Josh, please,” you whimpered, spreading your legs further apart.
“Someone’s eager,” he grinned back as he spat in his hand and gave his cock a few experimental pumps before lining himself up with your entrance. You didn’t say anything, just silently whined in response. It was then that Josh thought this was the perfect opportunity to slip inside of you. Soft moans fell from both of your lips as he immediately began to move inside of you at an agonisingly slow pace, allowing you time to adjust to his length. He was large in size and in girth, stretching you perfectly to the point you had never been stretched before.
“Please go faster,” you whined when you felt as if you were fully adjusted to his cock. Josh obliged, the pace of his hips speeding up upon the words leaving your lips. He couldn’t help but moan at the way you constricted around him, his cock felt like it was suffocating and he loved it. He loved you. As he continued his pace, Josh left wet kisses on your neck, biting occasionally at the skin to mark you later. It wasn’t the most romantic of times, being drunk and all, but it was passionate. Oh so passionate.
It didn’t take Josh long to cum. The way you were clenching around him filled him with all sorts of pleasure he never thought he’d experience. “Oh fuck Y/N,” Josh choked out, his hips stuttering indicating that he was close to climax. “I’m gonna cum. Gonna cum inside of you.” All you could do was nod in response as Josh shot white thick ropes of cum into your cunt, all while moaning a bit too loudly. And then, you both passed out in eachothers arms.
When you woke up in the morning, Josh was nowhere to be seen. You sat up and rubbed your eyes before collecting your scattered clothing off the floor and putting them on. You walked down the large staircase in the lodge and into the kitchen where Josh and your friends resided. Josh was sitting down, head in his hands, while shaking uncontrollably and repeating the words “no.”
You read the room quickly and realised something had happened, you were just unsure of what it was. You noticed Hannah and Beth weren’t here and your heart sunk. That’s when you spoke up. “What’s happened?” You asked, voice wavering slightly. Your body was still sore from last night, but you pushed it aside.
That’s when Chris looked at you and whispered, “Hannah and Beth have gone missing.”
~ One Year Later ~
You were travelling back up to the Washington Lodge for a reunion with your friends: Josh, Mike, Emily, Matt, Ashley, Sam and Chris. It had been a year since you had seen them all together in one room. A year since your best friends Hannah and Beth went missing. You pulled up to the lodge, it seems like you were the first one there. Snow was falling, making the incredible scenery feel more serene than usual. You sat down on the doorsteps to the lodge and flicked through your phone, looking at the recent message you had received from Sam telling you that her and Chris were almost there. You replied back with a simple ‘see you guys soon’ and put your phone back into your pocket. You were well wrapped up, but the cold continued to seep through your clothes and to your bones making you shiver.
“Hey there,” a voice came, snapping you out of your thoughts. You looked up to see Josh, staring at you with a glint of mischief in his eyes.
“Jesus, Josh! You scared me!” You shrieked, placing a hand over your heart which was now beating rapidly from his jump scare.
“Sorry,” he grinned.
Things had been awkward between the two of you since that night a year ago. So many words were left unsaid by both of you. There had been so many things you had both wanted to confess, but after Hannah and Beth’s disappearance it didn’t seem right. So neither of you talked about that night and instead, just pretended like it never happened. It hurt you, but what you didn’t know was that it hurt Josh more.
“How long have you been here?” He asked, sitting down on the step next to you. His hands remained in his pockets away from the chilly wind.
“About half an hour?” You said, scrunching your nose up. “I’m not getting any warmer you know.”
“Well, I would let you in but,” Josh started, pointing to the door. “It’s frozen shut. Need to find another way in, but I’m sure Chris can help with that when he gets here.”
“He shouldn’t be too long. Sam texted me, said that she’s with Chris and that they’re almost here.”
Josh nodded and scooted closer to you unconsciously. His heart was beating rapidly in his chest and memories of that night began to flood back to him. He wanted to hold you, to kiss you and keep you warm. Maybe now that it had been a year since Hannah and Beth disappeared, something between you could flourish. If only there was some form of traumatic event that would push you into his arms.
“How have you been holding up?” You asked after a few moments of awkward silence.
Josh looked at you and smiled sadly, nodding his head. “I’ve been good, I guess. Better now that everyone is finally getting together again.”
“Whatever you need Josh, we’re all here for you.”
Josh nodded, thankful for your words. He missed his sisters, he really did. There wasn’t a day that went by where he didn’t think about them. You were about to rest your head on his shoulder when you heard the sound of Sam laughing, probably from a stupid joke Chris had told. You sat up straight and positioned yourself away from Josh and looked in the direction that the laugh came from. Within seconds, Sam and Chris appeared from around the corner. When they saw you and Josh, they smiled and waved manically, walking slightly faster over to the both of you whilst being incredibly careful not to slip on the snow and ice surrounding the lodge.
“Hey lovers,” Chris smirked, earning an eye roll from Josh.
“Cut it out man,” Josh groaned, slapping Chris on his chest lightly.
Chris snorted a laugh and walked up to the door of the lodge before trying the handle. “Uhm, dude. The door won’t open,” Chris pointed out.
“Yeah, it’s frozen shut genius,” Josh said playfully. “Why do you think Y/N and I were sitting outside?”
Chris found himself shrugging before turning to Josh. “So what do we do?” He asked.
“Well, we need to find another way in.”
“Do you have any windows that would be open?” Chris asked.
“You’re talking about breaking and entering?” Josh asked, snickering.
“It’s not breaking and entering if it’s your own house,” Chris smirked back. Josh nodded and whispered a ‘touche’ before the two of them walked around the corner to the back of the lodge.
Meanwhile, you and Sam sat on the steps to the lodge. She wrapped her coat around her slender frame and smiled at you softly. “How are you holding up Y/N?” She asked.
You shrugged. “I don’t know Sam. I really don’t know,” you replied honestly. This past year had been such a whirlwind for you.
“Well, if you need anything you know I’m always here,” she smiled.
“Funny, I said the exact same thing to Josh just before you and Chris arrived.”
Sam let out a soft chuckle and nodded her head. “Well, it’s true. We’ve all been through a lot this past year.”
You nodded back in response. You were good friends with Sam and always welcomed her comforting presence. You sat in silence for a while until you were joined by Ashley, Emily and Matt.
“Where are Josh and Chris?” Ashley asked, looking around for them.
“Went to try and get the door open,” you replied, pointing towards the door.
“Frozen shut?” Matt asked, to which you and Sam just nodded.
“They shouldn’t be too long,” you said after a few seconds. “They’ve been gone for like, ten minutes now.”
The four of you sat on the steps now, freezing in the weather patiently waiting for Chris or Josh to open the door. After a few more minutes, you were joined by Mike and Jessica and had to explain the frozen door situation to them. As soon as you explained it to them, the front door swung open, revealing Chris. He had a lighter and a can of deodorant in his hand.
“That’s one way to unlock a door,” Mike remarked as all of you quickly piled into the lodge, desperate to get out of the cold.
“Welcome,” Josh’s voice came from behind you all. You turned around to see Josh stood in the entrance to the lodge with his arms spread wide. “It’s nice to have you all back.”
“It’s good to be back Josh,” you smiled at him softly.
Josh nodded at you and walked over to the table. “Drinks, anyone?”
Everyone cheered, including you, and you watched as Josh began to pour the alcohol into little plastic cups. Then, he handed them out to everybody one by one. When he reached you, Josh’s fingers brushed against yours as he passed you the cup. The electricity between the two of you caused the breath to hitch in your throat. You silently thanked him. Josh brought his own cup up to his lips, a slight smile formed on the corner of his mouth. He knew what you were feeling, because he was feeling it too.
Time seemed to pass quickly. Everyone was drinking and laughing, just generally having a good time. It was nice to have everyone together again. You finished your fourth drink and stumbled your way to the kitchen to grab another drink. As you were filling up your plastic cup, you heard a noise coming from the kitchen door forcing you to turn around, coming face-to-face with Josh. “You scared me again!” You slurred.
Josh laughed drunkenly and held his stomach as he laughed. “Sorry sorry! It was just too good to pass up.”
“I’m gonna kill you,” you groaned, rolling your eyes.
“Ha ha ha,” Josh grinned as he stepped further into the kitchen, stalking towards you.
You stayed silent for a moment as Josh continued to walk over to you before speaking, “are you okay? Have you had too much to drink?” You asked, placing a hand on his shoulder.
Josh shook his head and smiled politely. “I’m fine,” came his reply. Josh let a hand cup your face, his thumb tracing circles on your cheek. You sighed, content, and leaned into his touch. “I’ve missed you. So much,” Josh whispered as he leaned into you. His lips hovered over your own as he waited for you to make the next move, and you did. You pressed your lips to his softly and sighed into his mouth. Josh kissed back eagerly, letting both of his hands cup your face now and pull you closer to him. “Missed you,” he repeated.
“I missed you too,” you replied against his lips.
Josh seemed to relax at your words and allowed his lips to glide over yours with ease. His hand moved to the back of your head, tugging at your hair gently. A soft moan left your lips as Josh pushed you up against the kitchen counter. “I’m so glad you came tonight,” he whispered as he pulled away, breathing heavily. His eyes gazed into yours, searching for your response.
“I’m glad I came too,” you smiled softly at him. Josh’s hand stroked comforting circles on the back of your head causing you to hum in approval. He kissed you again, more hungrily this time, and allowed his free hand to caress your body. Soft sounds escaped your lips.
“Do you want to head upstairs?” Josh asked, his lips never leaving yours. You didn’t even need to think about that question before you were nodding eagerly. Josh smiled and grabbed your hand, leading you out of the kitchen and past your friends who were all smirking as the two of you walked up the large staircase to Josh’s bedroom. When you reached his door, Josh wasted no time in opening and pulling you inside, closing the door with his foot behind the two of you. “How do you want to do this?” Josh asked as you sat down clumsily on the bed.
“I don’t care, I just want to do it,” you replied, already taking off your clothes leaving Josh speechless. He quickly followed suit, removing his clothes until you were both completely naked. In any other situation you would have felt nervous about being naked in front of somebody, but not only had Josh seen you naked before, it just felt right.
“I like your style,” Josh smirked seductively at you.
Josh pushed you down flat onto the bed and climbed on top of you, lips attaching to your neck almost immediately. “Don’t tease me Josh,” you whispered quietly, your body rubbing against his in need.
“I won’t, precious girl,” Josh mumbled, sucking on the skin of your neck. He slicked his tip up your folds easily, gathering your wetness along the head of his cock. You were absolutely dripping with excitement. Without warning, Josh pushed the tip of his cock inside of you and a moan mixed gasp left your lips. He gave you a few moments to adjust, just laying on top of you and whispering words of encouragement in your ear.
“You can move,” you said breathlessly, arms wrapping around Josh’s neck to pull him closer to you. Josh nodded and began to snap his hips against yours, moving roughly. It was as if he was trying to tell you how much he had needed you this past year through sex. You could feel it. His movements were harsh and rough, yet soothing at the same time. You wrapped your legs around Josh’s waist, forcing his cock even deeper inside of you. A gasp of surprise left both of your lips as his cock reached new heights.
“Oh fuck,” Josh whimpered softly, nuzzling his head against your neck. “You feel so good. I can feel your pussy gripping me.”
“Don’t say such things,” you said, arching your back. Josh’s hips continued to slam against yours, cockhead kissing your cervix deliciously. Words and motions couldn’t describe how good this felt. “Josh if you keep going, I’m going to cum.”
“Cum for me sweet girl,” Josh whispered into your ear, licking and biting the lobe of your ear. You nodded and allowed yourself to reach your climax. Your entire body shook with pleasure as wave after wave washed over you, your eyes seeing stars. You closed your eyes as you let out a loud moan, your walls contracting around Josh’s cock pushing him over the edge as well. With a groan and a few stuttering thrusts, Josh came. His hands grasped your shoulders to try and balance himself as his own body shook, chanting your name like a prayer from God. When he had finally stopped cumming, Josh rolled off of you and lay on his back staring at the ceiling, a huge goofy grin on his face. “That was fucking incredible,” he groaned, head lolling to the side to look at you.
You smiled at him and nodded. “Yeah. Yeah it was,” you agreed. You were both out of breath, panting and sweating as if it wasn’t the dead of winter outside.
“You know, I’ve missed you Y/N,” Josh whispered, his voice sounding sincere.
“I’ve missed you too Josh. Really, I have.”
“I’m sorry I haven’t reached out,” he mumbled. “I’ve been trying to deal with my grief by pushing away those I care about, and that includes you.” You let out a shaky sigh and listened as Josh continued to talk. “That night, with you, was magical. The best night of my life in fact. But it quickly turned into the worst night of my life when my sisters went missing.”
“I understand,” you whispered soothingly.
“I’m sorry if I gave you the impression that you were just a one night stand to me,” Josh spoke after a few seconds of silence. “You were much more than that. You’re everything to me, Y/N.”
“I am?”
“Yes. Yes you are,” Josh chuckled. “I want to be more with you. I want to be with you.”
“I want to be with you too,” you said sincerely.
“Then be with me,” he said, eyes pleading as he looked into yours. You didn’t hesitate, instead, you just nodded. A huge smile graced Josh’s face at your silent confirmation. He pulled you into his arms and kissed your temple. “Thank you.”
“You don’t need to thank me.”
“I’m just glad we’re together again. Like this, I mean.”
“Me too.”
“I have a feeling that this trip is going to be very… adventurous,” Josh said, a mischievous smirk on his face. You had no idea what he meant by that, but what you did know is you didn’t matter as long as he was by your side. You remained in his arms for the rest of the night, hands linked with each other and just talking about everything you’d missed out on over the year. You knew in the morning that your friends would tease you for your night of passion with Josh yet again in the Washington Lodge, but you didn’t care. Now you were together, you felt like you could face anything. However, you were not prepared for the trip that was to come over the next day, and Until Dawn.

Is the Until Dawn fandom dead? Potentially. Will I write for it anyway? Absolutely!

Josh Washington, for as long as I could remember, had always been my best friend.
We met in third grade when my brother, Chris, also met him. Chris introduced us both and we instantly clicked, something that never went away, even as we aged. He was, for lack of a better word, my soulmate, or maybe that was just my crush on him talking.
He was charming, cute, and overall, just a genuine person; could anyone blame me for catching feelings for him? I didn’t expect nor want it to happen, but as we grew into teens, I couldn’t help it. Of course, my friendship with him extended to a friendship with the twins who were also close friends of mine, and also with Josh and Chris’s friends who I now called my own. I loved them all, but none as much as I did with Josh.
My parents were never particularly fond of the man, saying that he was a bad influence with all his pranks, doing the same with Chris, but neither of us cared. He was a good friend, and nothing could change that, even if he did prank us at least twice a month.
In fact, that leads us to where I was right now: covered in water after I was bombarded by water balloons from my brother and my crush.
“You idiots!” I laughed, clearly not meaning the words, despite me being drenched head-to-toe in freezing cold water. They soon joined in with the laughter, growing louder and louder as they stared at me. “I’m freezing.” A pout on my lips was evident as I spoke.
Josh shook his head, still chuckling as he tossed me a towel. “There you go, you know where the bathroom is, go get cleaned up.”
“I didn’t want to give you a towel, but Josh thought we better,” Chris smirked, something which only grew as he noticed the blush quickly darting onto my cheeks; it was clear that he knew of my feelings for the man.
“Screw you, Chris. I’m going for a shower.” I said, shaking my head as I left the room, leaving the pair laughing behind me.
*
Soon after my shower, I was seated beside Josh and opposite Chris with a warm drink in our hands. It was nice, sitting with the two people I held dearest to my heart whilst we chuckled at a bad movie Josh had put on, a horror, I think.
Chris was soon to fall asleep after finishing his drink, clearly not interested in the movie, either that, or he was exhausted which was also quite possible with the blonde.
“You okay?” Josh whispered to me, trying his best to not wake Chris. “You’ve been quiet all day. Did the prank upset you?”
I smiled slightly, turning to face him. “No, Josh, I’m fine. Just thinking.”
“About what?”
I didn’t want to tell the truth, I couldn’t. How was I supposed to tell him that the reason I was so distracted was because of him. The way he smiled, laughed, even cared for me, despite pranking me earlier on. It was all becoming too much for me to handle and I wasn’t sure how much longer that I could go without exposing my feelings. Chris already knew and he was often oblivious to others feelings, especially with his mutual crush on Ashley.
“A lot of thing,” I admitted, keeping it vague and hoping he wouldn’t ask for more information. However, it wasn’t my lucky day and he raised an eyebrow in a questioning manner.
“You can tell me,” he said.
No, Josh, I can’t, was the first thing to go through my mind. Not about this.
Sensing my silence, he did the typical Josh thing that he knew would get me to cave: puppy eyes.
With a sigh, I spoke. “Promise you won’t judge?”
“I promise,”
Another sigh, “I… like someone,”
Josh’s eyes widened, only for a moment. “Oh…” His voice had an underlying emotion, one I had never heard from his before and something that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. “Who is it?” He asked, seemingly pleading once again.
I simply remained silent, all whilst my head screamed his name.
“I won’t judge, I swear,” he pleaded again. “Even if it is someone really stupid.”
“Depends if you’re stupid,” the words left my lips before I could stop them, my eyes immediately widening as I realised my mistake.
“Me…?”
“Shit, sorry,” I sighed, pulling away from him, only to have my hand grabbed, preventing me from moving.
“Don’t move…. Please.”
“Are you sure?”
“Never been surer of anything in my life.” He said, face leaning forward towards me. “Stay still.” He whispered, pausing for a moment before pressing his lips against mine.
It was as though my body went into autopilot, immediately kissing him back as my hand landed on his neck, his going to my waist. I could have stayed like that forever, and perhaps I would have had a voice not broken the moment.
“Finally!!” Chris laughed.
Josh and I pulled away from one another, a blush on both our cheeks.
“Chris!”

"Intricate, but only for one."
Josh Washington x Reader
Summary: The ringtone of your phone woke you up before a knock on your door is heard. Or, Josh drank a tad too much.
Word count: 971
CW: the grammar is dead/ eng isn't my first language | probably bad characterization of a half drunk person | angst no comfort?

The distinguished ringtone of your phone suddenly woke you up. Rubbing the sleep and soon to come annoyance out of your eyes with one hand, you patted your mattress with the other searching for your phone. Squinting your eyes because of the brightest of the screen, you managed to read 'Josh' written over a somewhat blurry photo of the two of you. That did well to wake you up. Him calling in the middle of the night couldn't be good or exciting. Not anymore. Since the death of his twin sisters he had developed depression and suicidal thoughts. You had been told he was seeing a psychologist, and that he was taking meds. But sometimes, you wondered if those were really working. You were always questioning it more every time he called you in the middle of the night.
Sitting, you slide the green icon to the right, answering, but you didn't say anything. For quick seconds only silence was audible. Until Josh broke it. "I'm at your door." Was all he said without any ceremony, before hanging up. It was almost infuriating how sure of him he was that you were going to open the door. That you were going to let him in.
It was even more infuriating because it was true. Sighing, you rubbed your eyes again, untangling your legs from the sheets, you started your way through your appartement to the front door. Switching the light on, the jingle of your keychain filled the silence as you opened the door. And here he was, messy dark brown hair, hands hidden inside his open blue zip-up hoodie's pockets.
"You look awful." You greeted, voice raspy, opening the door more definitely allowing him inside.
"That's not very nice to say." He answered, a shadow of a smile shaping his lips.
As he crossed the threshold, you laid your eyes on his. His green orbs were bloodshot, an enough indication for you to know he had drank more than he should have.
It wasn't the first time Josh Interrupted your sleep because he had drunk. It happened even before the twins' accident. He used to be a happy drinker. Those nights were fun, exciting. He wasn't one to leave in the morning. Sometimes even cooking for you. It was the little details, the attention that had you falling little by little. To this day, you weren't sure if it was the smartest thing you heart had decided to do.
Closing the door, letting the key in the keyhole, you started your interrogation. "Did you get any water?" Turning around you saw him slightly wobble, "Ok, you did not.” Taking his arm, you helped him to your bedroom. “Come here."
There, you asked him to go sit on your bed, while you went to your little kitchen to fetch a glass and a bottle of water. Stopping by your bathroom, you also took a towel and a basin just in case. Because you were having an intricate relationship with him, didn't mean he had to ruin your bedsheets.
Back in your room, Josh was now sitting on what used to be his side of the bed, a side he –in all truth– hasn't occupied in a while. His eyes were looking afar, he wasn't there. He never truly was these days.
Hearing his name being called in the background of his mind snapped him out of it, "Yeah?" He asked, quite disoriented.
"Drink this, please." Extending your arm, you offered the glass you had previously filled with water, putting the bottle down on the ground with your unoccupied hand.
You watched as he drank the liquid almost in one go, wiping his mouth with the sleeve of his hoodie, while he gave you the glass back. "Do you need help with your clothes?" You wondered, taking the glass back in your hand.
"I've forgotten clothes here?" He inquired rather than answering your question. "Or there's other people's spare clothes here?"
You sighed, not sure where that one was coming from. "A bit of both," You answered anyway. "What does it matter, you're half drunk and I'm tired. Let's just go to sleep?" Past sleepless nights were catching to you, and you desperately wanted Josh to comply, quickly.
Eyebrows raised to your hairline, you waited for his answer. He took that time to have a good look at you. As good as he could in his state. You were pretty exhausted, that he could tell. So he agreed, shaking his head to say yes to your proposition, to which you let out a content sigh escaped your lips.
Thankfully, he was sober enough to change without needing your help. Which allowed you to set your basin down and the towel on his designated side of the bed.
"If you need to puke please aim for the basin." Was your only instruction before you slipped back under your cover. You only turned off the light on your nightstand once Josh was settled in as well.
Silence was the only thing audible inside the room, beside the outside noises of cars and other nocturnal animals. Just like on the phone, it was Josh who broke it first. "I'm sorry, I know I'm a mess."
His declaration had you turning on your back, eyes fixed on your ceiling. "That's fine. Not the first nor will it be the last." You had tried to joke a little in order to lighten the mood a bit, but he didn't answer. "I'm serious Josh." You voiced again, this time turning your body to his side. "It's OK, really."
You never knew if your words had ever brought even the slightest amount of peace to him that night. But considering you were now covered in what you hoped was pigs' blood, because of Josh's prank, you figured it didn't.

josh always had to be touching you. it was something you noticed early on in your friendship, but it had grown more noticeable over time. a casual brush of his fingers across your waist when he walked by, how his hand would find yours when no one was looking. at first, you didn’t think much of it, it was just josh, always needing someone close.
but now? now it felt like more.
tonight, the group had gathered in the theater room of the washington lodge for what was supposed to be a relaxing evening after a long day of hiking. the lights were dim and you were sprawled out on the large sectional with everyone, blankets thrown over legs, as a movie played on the tv. josh, predictably, had taken his usual place next to you, his thigh pressed against yours under the blanket, his hand resting on your knee like always.
it wasn’t like he was doing anything that anyone else would notice, it was subtle, almost innocent. but you felt it. the warmth of his hand on your leg sent tingles up your spine and it was almost impossible to ignore the way your heart beat just a little faster when he touched you.
"you two are practically glued together," emily teased from across the couch, smirking as she sipped her drink. "it’s cute. you can’t stand to be apart for five seconds?"
josh, unfazed as ever, grinned. “what can i say? i’m a hands-on kind of guy.”
you rolled your eyes, chuckling softly, but the way his fingers squeezed your knee for just a second sent a jolt through you. he wasn’t letting go, not even when everyone else joined in on the teasing.
ashley leaned over the back of the couch, an exaggerated look of pity on her face. "i mean, it’s cute and all, but how do you breathe? he’s always touching you.”
josh shrugged, still looking completely comfortable. “she doesn’t seem to mind.” his voice was playful, but there was an edge of seriousness beneath it.
you glanced over at him, your pulse quickening. no, you didn’t mind. in fact, you had grown to expect it, maybe even craved it. his presence, his touch. it had a calming effect on you, even if it was doing the opposite to your emotions now. your friends had been teasing about this for weeks and you weren’t sure how to explain the connection without sounding ridiculous.
"she knows that i'm just that good at making sure she’s comfortable," josh said with a quick grin. "it’s kinda my thing."
emily laughed. “at this point, i wouldn’t be surprised if you two woke up spooning!”
you felt the blush rising to your cheeks as you shoved josh lightly, but his hand slid down your leg, brushing the inside of your thigh, lingering just a second too long before pulling away. you froze, the sensation sending a wave of warmth through you. he shot you a quick look, eyes twinkling with amusement, but there was something else behind them.
before you could respond, chris called out from the other side of the couch. “what? it’s just a little friendly affection, right?” he winked, clearly teasing.
“yep,” you agreed quickly, your voice coming out more breathless than intended. “totally. just friends.”
josh gave a low hum, leaning back and stretching his arm out along the back of the couch, his fingertips brushing against your shoulder. “if you say so,” he murmured softly, only for you to hear. the weight of his touch felt heavier now, his fingers grazing your skin.
as the movie droned on, your focus drifted away from the screen. your mind was entirely on josh, the way his body was so close to yours, the way his touch lingered. you found yourself leaning into him more without realizing it, like you were drawn to him just as much as he was to you.
the others had mostly gone back to watching the movie, though there were still occasional glances your way, always with that teasing edge but josh didn’t seem to care. his thumb traced slow circles on your shoulder now, his hand occasionally slipping down to brush your arm.
you turned your head slightly, looking up at him. he wasn’t even looking at the movie anymore. his focus was entirely on you.
“josh?” you whispered, keeping your voice low enough that the others wouldn’t hear.
“hmm?” his eyes flicked down to meet yours, his expression soft but with that familiar mischievous glint.
you hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to say what was on your mind. “why do you always…?” you trailed off, not sure how to phrase it without sounding too obvious.
he smiled, a knowing look crossing his face. “always what?”
“always… touch me,” you finished quietly, your pulse quickening at the vulnerability in your own words.
josh’s smile didn’t fade, but his gaze grew a little more serious. he leaned in, his voice dropping to a whisper as his hand moved from your shoulder to your cheek, cupping it gently. “it’s… comforting. you’re comforting.”
you stared at him, heart racing as the weight of his words sank in. there was more to it, you could feel it, more than just the comfort of touch. there was something between you that had always been there, quietly lingering beneath the surface.
“you don’t mind, do you?” his thumb brushed against your cheek now, the gentle motion sending a warmth through you that had nothing to do with the blankets.
you swallowed hard, your breath catching in your throat. “no,” you whispered. “i don’t mind.”
josh’s gaze flickered down to your lips for a second before returning to your eyes. there was a moment of hesitation, but then he leaned in just a little closer. “good,” he murmured, his voice barely audible.
“because i don’t think i could stop even if i tried.”

hey babe, just stumbled across your page and you’re a literal god send.
Absolutely no pressure if you’d like to decline, but I was wondering if I could request Josh fucking the reader at the lodge before everyone else arrives. Yknow, they’re just trying to make use of their time before everything starts.
have a lovely day/evening 💗
thank you so much :(( <3 much love
“c’mon baby.. the others won’t be here for a while.” josh pleaded, he pressed his lips to your neck, knowing exactly how to get you weak. “josh.. what if they come early..” you whined, your eyes flicking to the front door.
no matter how much you’d enjoy being dicked down on every surface in the house, your group of friends were unpredictable and you really didn’t feel like getting caught by them.
“i’ll just lock the doors. they can wait til we’re done.” josh began to peel off your jacket, then his own. you snorted, “leaving them out in the cold, huh? you’re a bad friend, josh washington.”
josh shrugged, “who cares? would rather feel this pretty pussy wrapped around me.” his hand ghosted over your cunt covered by your jeans, earning a small whine from you. “there she is,” he smirked.
josh pulled you over to the couch, letting you lay down before he climbed between your legs. he dove down, pressing his lips to yours. the kiss escalated quickly, his tongue exploring your mouth as you desperately moaned into his mouth.
josh pulled away, his chest heaving, “fuck, you drive me crazy,” he pulled his shirt over his head while you did the same.
he leaned back down, kissing and nipping at your neck making you arch into his touch. his fingers fumbled with the button on your jeans as he left marks all along your neck. “want you so bad, josh..” you said, aiding him in his attempt to remove your pants.
once he slid them off, he moved back so he was face level with your heat. “you’re soaking through your panties, princess.” josh commented. he leaned forward, pressing his tongue to your clothed slit, making you squirm in his hold. “s-shit, josh!” you moaned, “feels so good,”
josh smirked before he pulled your panties to the side, finally diving in to your cunt. josh began licking and sucking at your clit like a man starved. your hands flew down to his hair, pulling at the locks as he fucked you with his tongue.
“c’mon, pretty girl. lemme see you fall apart.” he panted before he latched his lips on your clit, moaning around the sensitive bud. “fuck, ‘m gonna cum!” you cried before your back arched and a loud moan ripped from your throat.
josh lapped up the juices that gushed from your hole, humming softly as he sat up. he stood momentarily to pull down his bottoms before he went back to his previous spot.
you bit your lip as your eyes trailed down his body, his cock stood tall, his tip leaking precum. “like what you see?” josh chuckled.
you nodded before reaching up to pull josh to your lips. his hand wrapped around the base of his cock, aligning the tip with your entrance before he slowly pushed in. you both groaned in unison as josh slid into your cunt.
josh rocked his hips, the tip of his cock brushing against your sweet spot with every thrust. “fuck, baby,” josh grunted, his hips increasing in speed, “cum for me one more time,” he leaned down attaching his lips to your neck once more while his thumb rubbed circles on your clit.
“oh, fuck, josh! ‘m cumming!” you screamed, your back arching as your orgasm washed over you. josh gripped your hips tightly, chasing his own high. “shit shit shit—“ josh groaned before he pulled out, his cum spurting on your stomach.
he fell back onto the couch, his chest heaving as he caught his breath. there was a comfortable silence before a knock rang throughout the whole cabin. “josh? you in there? fuck, let us in it’s cold out here,” chris said, his fists pounding on the door.
you shot up, scrambling to collect your clothes. josh did the same, slipping on his many layers. “i’ll meet you upstairs, princess. we can continue this later.” he smirked, giving your ass a smack before you disappeared upstairs <3

Grow Up, Would You? [Josh Washington]
“I don’t know if you’ve changed any since middle school but I really hope you’ve learned the difference between pranking somebody and just being a fucking bully.”
You can also find this story on Ao3!
Chapter Four / Chapter Five / Chapter Six
[CHAPTER FIVE]
"Chris, you are... not good at this," Josh says, holding a 4 of diamonds in his hand. "This is, like, the third time you've gotten my card wrong."
"I'd be better if I wasn't drunk off my ass," Chris defends, smacking the deck of cards on the counter. I say nothing, too busy trying to calm my laughter and holding on to Matt for balance. Laughing, himself, he holds my forearms to keep me steady.
Although they'd left us for a while, Matt and Mike eventually migrated back into the kitchen at the sound of the laughter. I was shocked that Emily wasn't wrapped around Mike like she usually was, but no one would ever hear me complain or even acknowledge her absence.
"I don't think we've ever actually spent much time together," Matt says, straightening up as he wiped a tear from his eye. "You're cool. I'm sorry for maybe seeing kind of, standoffish, earlier...?" He rubs the back of his neck in embarrassment.
"Oh, no," I giggle. "It's awkward meeting new people, I get it. Thank you, though." I knew Matt was more meek than the others, but I didn't realize he was a sweetheart. Mike pats me on the back.
"She's maaad cool," he confirms. By the way his words merge together I can tell he's drunk. "I've never gotten to talk to her thoughhh, Emily think she wants me or whatever."
"Emily thinks everyone wants you," Josh snorts. Mike gasps, placing his hands over his torso dramatically.
"Don't they?" I cringe. Josh taps the counter loudly, drawing our attention to the lineup of shots.
"What are the, uh," Chris starts, looking into his shot as he tries to find the words he needs. "The girls! Sam, Jess, and Emily, the twins, what're they doing?" he asks.
"Some skin routine, or something. Jess brought an entire kit," Mike sighs. "I'm pretty bummed out that she said girls only, that stuff is fire." We all clink our glasses together and take the shots, Matt shaking his head violently after he swallowed.
"Goddamn, shit is nasty," he hissed, scrunching up his face. Everyone else can't help but laugh, though I can feel my face starting to burn. It could be nothing or anything, but in the past I've learned that sometimes it means I just need some air.
"I'm gonna go get some air," I say, hiking my thumb behind me towards the back balcony.
"Gonna hurl?" Josh asks, that stupid grin on his stupid face.
"No, just need some air." I walk out the door and outside. Shit. I forgot my coat. I decide against going inside - it would be embarrassing if they realized. The night was going so well, I didn't want them to watch me take the walk of shame to grab my winter garments.
I clear off a part of the railing and lean against it, shivering and holding myself. The icy air did it's job quickly in cooling my skin and opening my lungs. Despite my shivering, I took slow, deep breaths until I hear the door opening and closing behind me.
"Hey," I greet, not turning around.
"Cold?" I chew on my cheek as Josh leans next to me, holding one of his thick coats in his hands.
"Freezing," I admit, laughing. Josh says nothing, instead gently placing his coat over my shoulders. Holy fuck it was warm. Despite my reservations I quickly put it on and zip it closed, letting out a heavy sigh of relief. "Oh, wow, thank you. It's so warm." Josh laughs loudly and leans again on the railing next to me, our shoulders a hair apart.
"I have it hanging next to the fireplace," he explains. I look up at him through my lashes, and he looks down at me. "So, always nice and toasty... like a Hot Pocket." I look back out across the snowy forest in a failed attempt to hide the smile from my face. I don't know why I thought it was funny - because it wasn't.
I've always hated that Josh was able to make me smile, even when he was at his worst bullying me. If he was making jokes nearby, I was the one nearly bursting a blood vessel trying not to laugh. I know he sees me, though, because he had a twinkle in his eye and a gentle grin of his own.
"Are you feeling okay?" he asks me, tilting his head in an attempt to be on my level.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I reply, surprised he was asking. "I just need a break sometimes." I pause. "Thanks for checking."
"Alright, girl, well," he starts, leaning against me for a second. He's so warm I almost ask him to stay there. I knew at that thought that I should start drinking less vodka and more water. "I'll give you your... your alone time."
"Thank you, Josh." I say. He pauses, and suddenly there's much more hesitance to leave. I wonder why. Is it that I said his name? "Are you okay?" he takes a deep inhale.
"Yeah," he starts, though I'm immediately not convinced. "I just need a little space, sometimes, too." There's another pause. He's still leaning against me, our shoulders pressed together. For a millisecond I can feel my head move to lean on his shoulder and I freeze. Josh opens his mouth again, hesitating to speak. "I don't know how I'm feeling about Mike, lately."
"Mike?" I repeat. He nods, taking another deep breath.
"Hannah's got a thing for him," Josh states. He's looking across the forest with his eyebrows furrowed. "And he keeps playing with her feelings, I think."
"You think?" He nods again.
"He hasn't - he won't reject her. He knows how she feels about him and he just let's her. I think he digs the attention or something, but it's pissing me off. I tried to tell Hannah he wasn't into her, but -" he cuts himself off and shakes his head. I can tell he's getting angry at just the thought of the subject. "But she just won't listen. How can a girl so smart not see what he's doing?"
"I don't know," I murmur. I wasn't sure what to say, or how to comfort him. "She asked me about him, earlier." Josh looks at me as he waits for me to continue. "Asked what I thought about him. I just said he wasn't my type, he's got a girlfriend, whatever."
"Oh, well, what is your type?" He smirks. I roll my eyes and lean hard against him as he laughs at me.
"I think she knows Mike doesn't feel the same," I say. "She just doesn't care."
"The land of delusion," Josh huffs before looking at me. "Wanting somebody you can't have, well... I guess that sort of runs in the family." I side eye him and my heart rate picks up.
"Sam?" I gulp. Josh bursts out in laughter.
"Oh, Jordan," he starts, rubbing his eyes. "You kill me."
"I'm funny, I know," I grin. We make eye contact again and the pressure of his shoulder against mine increases as he leans further into me before, finally, pulling away. The absence of his warmth is immediate and I frown.
"I'm just worried about Hannah, is all," he clarifies, suddenly. "I'll see you back inside."
"See you." I smile, softly, and listen as the door opens. Instead of closing, though, I hear gentle conversation and a 'she wants some alone time right now, man.' I turn around to see Mike trying to go to the balcony with me, Joshua blocking his way. They continue to bicker, but I can't hear anything else until Mike notices me watching.
"Hey, Jordan, just thought we could get to know each other better without Emily bitching you out!" He calls. I frown and look at Josh, who is staring at the back of Mike's head so intensely I half expected to see smoke start rising from his dark hair.
"You talk about your girlfriend weird," I blurt out. I look around me as if Emily would descend upon us at any moment and exact her wrath. "Don't you like her or something?" Mike laughs and shakes his head, finally pushing past Josh, who stumbles a few feet back.
"Of course I do," he says, placing both hands on my shoulders. I tense up immediately and make an attempt to gently shrug him off, but he just tightens his grip slightly. "But sometimes she tries to keep me from making new friends, or trying to strengthen already existing relationships. You understand, right? Jealous girlfriend things."
"I'm about to go inside," I gulp. I want his hands off of me now. I don't hate Mike, but the discomfort was incredible. "Just go on in and wait for me."
"Oh, come on, let's -"
"She said she's going inside." Josh butts in. I furrow my eyebrows and Mike finally lets me go. My feelings are complicated, both appreciation and annoyance swirling in my chest. Appreciation for the defense, and annoyance for not letting me handle it myself.
The appreciation wins over.
I pull the coat up over my cold nose and look between Josh and Mike. It's now, as Mike holds his hands up in defeat and he and Josh bicker, that I realize Josh's coat smelled so good. Did he smell this good? My drunken mind considers getting really close to Josh to find out.
It smells like pine, firewood, and cologne. I was almost sure though that the pine and firewood was from the cologne itself. I close my eyes. The scent was comforting and made me feel warmer.
My serenity is interrupted by Mike slamming the lodge door behind him as he finally relented and went inside. I jump, startled, and slip, falling flat on my back. There was enough snow that it didn't hurt, but I wasn't happy. I can hear Josh laughing.
"I'm going to try to help you up," he says through giggles. I start to sit up, slowly, and he offers is hand. I take it, and smile mischievously. "What're you-" I pull him down into the snow with me, doing my best evil laugh as I stand up. Josh rolls around, trying to get a grip on his surroundings, and he grabs my leg and pulls me back down on top of him.
I land on his chest and he lets out a huff, the air from his lungs being knocked out of him. As I try to get up, he wraps his arms around me and doesn't let go.
"Hey, hey! Release me, wench!" I yell. I try to sound serious, but I'm giggling and beaming.
"No can do, lady. Feel the wrath of Mr. Winter!" He rolls over so that I'm sunken into the pile of snow that had accumulated at the edge of the balcony. It reaches just over my ears.
And he's on top of me, his hands now on my hips and holding me down, his knee resting between mine. I'm shaking, but not from the cold anymore.
"Comfy?" He asks, moving his hands from me to hold himself up.
"Five stars," I sigh, rolling my eyes. I wish I wasn't smiling. I wish my heart wasn't pounding. "Can I get up now?"
"I don't know, all this alcohol and being wasted shit has made me tired," he yawns. His breath smells like booze and breath mints he'd been popping all night. He moves slowly, as if giving me an opportunity to stop him, and lays fully on top of me. "I'm going to sleep." Instead of shoving him off and screaming, like a part of me tells me to, I let him. His breath is warm on my neck as he fake-snores loudly. I shudder.
"Okay pal, get off me before somebody comes out here and sees this."
"Embarrassed?" Josh laughs breathily, his warm breath continuing to send chills through my body.
"Nervous."
"I make you nervous?" He sits himself back up again, that dumb smile back on his face. I try to think about the terrible things he'd done to me in our elementary and middle school times, but I can't seem to be upset at him no matter how much I try. I'm feeling something different for him. Not disdain or annoyance or the usual hatred.
It's something different.
"Yes." I relent. "And you do smell good."
"What?" I laugh out loud in embarrassment and disbelief at myself.
"I've had too much to drink," I sigh. I smile at Josh, and he smiles back, but he appears nervous and his eyes can't reach mine. He chews his lip as he starts to get up. I almost frown as he does, the warmth and weight of his body was comforting. He reached out his hand, again, and this time I take it.
"Let's go back inside," he mumbles, brushing the snow off of me. I smile as he does. "Okay?
"Okay."
----------
I sit at the counter of the bar, resting my chin on the palm of my right hand. On the other side stood Josh. He has a cocktail shaker in his hands, shaking it like a professional bartender would.
"Another water for the fair young lady?" He asks, taking my glass and filling it with the clear liquid, adding as much dramatic flair as he could.
"Oh, yes, m'dear, thank you," I hum. Chris and everyone else had headed to bed long ago, leaving Josh and I alone in the kitchen, the both of us deciding to be mostly sober before even going to bed. Josh slides the water to me and winks. I laugh, then snap my mouth shut.
"What is it?" He asks, tilting his head and leaning over the counter.
"I..." I start to laugh, moving my arm to hide my face. "I sound so, so drunk." Josh laughs at me before pushing the glass of water to me again.
"Drink up, madam," he says. I grab the glass, slowly sliding it towards me as Josh and I lock eyes. I raise an eyebrow and bring the water to my lips, downing it quickly like a massive shot.
"I'd like another, please. And make that a double."
"As you wish," he laughs. He gives me water in a much bigger glass, not bothering with the theatrics this time as he gets himself a drink as well. Instead of walking around the bar to sit, he stays opposite of me and leaning over the counter. I take a sip from the cup. I can feel myself growing more sober as time passes, but not by much. "How're you feeling?" I tilt my head in thought. I wondered for just a moment if I should be honest with him.
"I'm feeling good," I admit, smiling to myself. I can feel him watching me. "I'm..." I swallow, a bit nervous. "I'm glad I came. Thank you for tolerating me." My eyes move to his. The kitchen was completely dark save for a single light above the stove. For a moment I think he almost looks handsome in this lighting.
I must be wasted.
"I should say the same," Josh sighs, looking away from me. He's staring at the counter now. "I know I'm not... Your favorite." He starts, inhaling deeply. "But you've been showing up, anyways, for Chris and... And my sisters. I love Chris, and I love my sisters, more than anything, y'know? So... If they call you friend, you..." His eyes meet mine for not even a second, seemingly too nervous to meet my eyes. "You let me know if you need anything and I'll try to help you out, alright?" My eyes are watering. Why are my eyes watering? Why is he saying this to me.
"...okay," I croak. I can barely get the words out of my throat. "Thank you." I gulp down the rest of my water in an attempt to snuff out the fire burning in my chest. The air becomes heavy and thick with awkward tension. I wonder if he can hear my heart pounding.
"Do you want to put on a movie?" Josh asks, snapping me out of my fog.
"Uhm, sure. What are you thinking?"
"I've got Scream," he grins. "Do you like scary movies?" I roll my eyes, but I can't hide the smile growing on my face. "Ahh, there it is," Josh says gently, his voice low. My face feels like its set on fire.
"Is the couch fine?!" I gasp, standing up quickly and stumbling backwards. Josh laughs and asks if I'm okay, but I ignore him and scurry to the couch. Above the fireplace was a massive television. Josh turns it on and flips through channels to his own recording of Scream. I can't help but laugh.
"You recorded Scream?"
"Hey, man, don't be a hater," Josh sighs. As the movie starts he takes his seat. I'm at one end of the couch, and he's at the other. As we watch the movie, I take suspicious glances every now and then at Josh. Sometimes, I look at him and he's fully turned to look at me.
"Is there something on my face?" I ask when I catch him again. He shakes his head.
"No, I just want to see your reactions to the movie," he admitted. He's sounding less sober and more tired. As I look back towards the TV I can feel the sofa move as he moves towards me.
"I've seen this before," I whisper.
"Say what?" Josh scoots closer again so he can hear me. When I look at him again the movie starts to disappear. I don't know what I'm thinking.
I scoot closer to him.
"I said I've seen this movie before," I repeat, slightly louder. Josh is staring at me now without hesitation. I can tell he's tired, yet he has no issue with keeping his eyes on me. He looks like a puppy dog, pleading for any sort of attention.
"Oh, have you?" He says. This time, he's whispering, yet he's close enough that I can hear him just fine. I only realize, now, that our knees our touching, exactly as they did at the pizza bar. My heart rate picks up as Josh scans every detail of my face.
"Mhm," I hum. I look at his lips. They look soft. My hand twitches as I resist the urge to reach up and brush my thumb across his lip. How much have I had to drink?
"Jordan..." He starts, leaning in.
"Josh?" I gulp, looking back into his eyes.
Green eyes.
His hand slowly moves itself to my forearm.
"I am..." He laughs softly. "I think I have to be wasted." His hand slowly moves up my arm and to my shoulder but he doesn't stop. He brushes his thumb across my collarbone before he gently settles his hand gently at the side of my neck.
"Me, too," I whisper. Josh parts his lips and slowly moves closer to me, his thumb brushing my jawline. Is he going to kiss me? Holy shit. Is Joshua Washington going to kiss me? My heart pounds and I worry for a moment that I'm about to die. My chest is going to burst open at any second now.
"So we should stop," I say breathlessly, my hands quickly moving to his chest. It was surprisingly solid. My heart is twisted harshly, my chest so tight it felt as if my ribs would shatter at any moment. I half expect him to call me ugly, to scoff and roll his eyes, tell me it was just a joke.
But he doesn't.
Instead, he closes his eyes and rests his forehead against my own.
"I'm sorry, Jordan, I don't know what came over me," he spoke softly, just above a whisper. His hand doesn't leave it's place on my skin, and for some unspeakable reason I don't mind it. "Can I just... I'm... I don't know. Things feel fine with you," he admits, whispering as if I'll break if he speaks too loud. "Can we just stay like this for a while?" I nod, closing my own eyes as he rests his head on my shoulder. My hands move to his head as if on instinct, one hand brushing his hair softly and the other tracing circles on his back. He slowly wraps his arms around me in a loose hug, his weight pushing me backwards as he fell deeper into sleep.
Instead of laying back, myself, I slowly guided his head to my lap, where I continued to run my fingers through his hair.
"Chris would go insane if he saw this," I chuckle, a small smile on my face.
"You drive me insane," Josh mumbles something I can barely catch.
"Says you, Mr. Locker-Rats," I scoff. He smiles at the nickname.
"That's such a stupid name," he laughs. He takes a deep breath and his smile falters. Thank you, Jordan," he sighs, turning over into his side. "I really needed this."
"Hm?"
"I need this..." Josh says as he drifts off to sleep.
I'm sober now.
I know I'll remember this. I'll remember this for the rest of my life. The fragile body of my worst enemy left open and vulnerable to me like no one else had ever been, his head in my lap, with what felt like his soul held in my very hands. I felt as if one wrong move would break him.
Would he remember? Will he still be so kind, so gentle when everyone else can see him be kind to me?
I didn't think so. I sucked my bottom lip between my teeth. Despite my reservations I continue to slowly pet his thick, soft hair. It's now, as I look down at him sleeping, that I start to realize that maybe I don't hate him anymore.
Maybe we could be some sort of friends.
I smile to myself and sigh, leaning back against the couch. I swear right then that I wouldn't fall asleep. Once the movie was over, I would go to my own room to spare Josh and I the embarrassment of being found in such a comfortable position with each other.
"You've changed," I murmur. "I think I like it." He says nothing. As the movie goes on, I watch his body rise and fall with his steady breathing. He'd been good to me today.
As the credits roll, I gently slide out from under him and replace my lap with a pillow under Josh's head. He doesn't move, and I lay a nearby throw blanket over him. I contemplate removing his boots, but decide against it to avoid waking him up. As I crouch down to his level, I take a moment to examine his face.
I hate to admit it, I do, but he looked serene. I thought to myself that maybe it was time to admit that he was physically appealing. I felt a safety and comfort around Josh, now, that I'd never felt before. Why? Is he really that different? Does he really care about me?
Or are we both drunk?
I chew on my lip as I stare at him. I don't know what's happening to me, I don't know what's come over me, but I run my fingers through his hair one more time as I place a gentle kiss on the tip of his nose. He shifts, and for a split second I think I see him trying to hold back a smile. I squint, but he doesn't move again. I sigh.
"Goodnight, Joshua."

⚠️CHAPTER WARNINGS⚠️
[mature language, mental health issues]
Tumblr media
You and Sam were on the bus for a while, occasionally making conversations in between comfortable silence. You learned she was a big animal lover and adored nature. She was also vegan, and a bit of a pacifist. She told you the others tend to make fun of her a bit for her morals and beliefs in that area, but she didn’t let it get to her. She was comfortable in her own skin and was herself no matter what anyone said. You admired how strong willed she was, how she was so confident. Characteristics you had in yourself yes, but not as much as her, which you envied a little.
You were listening to your music, looking out the window when Sam nudged your elbow slightly. You take out an earbud, looking at her curiously. “What’s up?”
She offers you an earbud from her wired headphones. “How much has Josh told you about his sisters?”
You shrug, taking it in your hand. “Not much honestly. I’ve only heard a bit, but I never pressed him further on the matter. Why?”
She gestured to the earbud, and you hesitantly put it in, raising an eyebrow at her. You put it in and she played something on her phone. A male radio host speaks from the phone. He started off saying it was the one year anniversary of the tragic deaths that took place on the Washington mountain. Josh’s family’s mountain. The radio host began to introduce a detective from the case, inquiring about if there’s an update on the disappearance of the two sisters, Hannah and Beth Washington. You mentally note how the radio host said they were ‘missing’, and not found dead.
Annie, the detective, began by explaining how the two sisters left the safety of their parent’s lodge on this day last year and ran outside into a snowstorm. Never to be seen again. The radio host, Marty, asks if there was any foul play, but the detective denies-saying officially there hasn’t been any evidence found. She proceeded to say there was a person of interest they were suspicious of considering they have an ‘interesting’ history with the Washington family. But this person’s whereabouts were currently unknown. She said that this suspect had warned the family about pursuing their construction project, proclaiming that the mountain was sacred to his forefathers.
The radio host then mentioned a sanatorium, asking if the suspect could be there. The detective said that her officers searched the grounds, but that not even the two sisters could have made it up that far. The host notes that something about the mountain seems to breed tragic events. “That’s for damn sure.” You mentally think to yourself, finding the whole conversation crazy and weird. The detective replies, saying “More than you know, Marty.”
He thanked Annie for joining him on the radio, and proceeded to announce to his listeners, “To all the Washington’s tonight…Their son Josh on this the anniversary of the mysterious disappearance of Hannah and Beth Washington.” Sam shifts her phone sideways, leaning it closer to you so you can see better. Interested, you lean in slightly.
Josh appeared suddenly on the screen, and a certain feeling in your stomach started to flutter. You couldn’t help but feel a little giddy anytime you saw his face, and heard his voice. Your face softens lightly, Sam noticing and taking a mental note on it, possibly going to tease you later on about it.
The video plays, starting out with Josh speaking to the viewers/listeners, “Well hello friends and fans…Alright let’s do that again..” He walks up to the camera, adjusting the zoom in to be focusing more on his face. You laugh to yourself as it captures a crazy shot into his face, considering if you should poke fun at him for it when you see him. He backs away as the camera adjusts and repeats again with that dorky grin, “Alright. Well hello friends and fans! It’s beyond awesome to have you guys all back this year. Um, first off, I gotta say I am super excited to welcome all my pals back to the annual blackwood winter getaway!”
He pumps his fist in the air, whispering-yelling a cheer. You have to mentally stop yourself from letting out a noticeable cringe face at how corny that was. You take a deep breath to calm down as he continues, and even though you found it a little weird, a smile was on your lips at his playful actions. You did miss them a lot. “So, um..Let me just let you know, let’s take a moment to..Address the “elephant in the room” for a second..” You notice how Sam’s face saddens a bit, and you place a comforting hand on her shoulder, not sure if she’d be ok with it. But thankfully she gives you an appreciative smile, and you two focus your attention back to her phone.
Josh starts again slowly. “I know you’re all probably worried about me..And I know it’s gonna be tough on all of us going back after what happened last year. But-I just want you all to know, um..It means..It means so much to me that we’re doing this. And I..”
He trails off, his mouth hanging slightly open as he tries to get together his next words, “I know it would mean so much to Hannah and Beth that we’re-we’re all still together. Thinking of them. I really want to spend some quality time with each and every one of you and um, just share some moments we’ll never forget. For the sake of my sisters, you know? Ok..So! Let’s party like we’re fucking porn stars, ok? And make this one a trip we’ll never forget. Alright? Yes!”
He exclaimed, making an odd emphasis on the ‘fucking’ part. You clasp a hand around your mouth, an audible laugh trying to escape your throat. You had to hold it back otherwise the whole bus would be filled with your uncontrollable laughter. Sam looked over at you confused, but joined into your laughter. She had to admit it was pretty cringe, but that’s Josh for you.
After a 2 hour bus ride, you and Sam finally arrived at the lodge. You both gather your things and get ready to hop off the bus. As you take your first step outside, you can hear the satisfying crunch of snow beneath your boots. The first thing you did was look around you. There was a tall wooden sign that wrote ‘Blackwood Pines’. The harsh, cold air smacked you in your face as you silently followed Sam, letting her lead the way.
It's such a beautiful area, the landscape has a blue overcast from the snowy mountains and ice that covers the scenery. You can hear the calm whirling of the icy wind, but there's also the sound of movement and twigs snapping in the distance.
You and Sam both break your necks to look at your surroundings, seeing if anyone else has also shown up to the mountain yet.
“Hello? Is anyone there?” Sam calls out into the dark, cold forest only to be met with silence.
“Hm, I guess it was just an animal then.” You say in response to the silence, and Sam nods her head.
You two continue to the cable car station, only to see a locked gate in the way. Sam walks up to the note and pulls it off the gate.
“Awh come on! Really?” Sam exclaimed in response to the note.
“What does it say?” You ask curiously, peaking over her shoulder to see the note. Sam turns the paper so you can get a good view of it.
‘Gate’s busted, climb over - Chris’
“Man that sucks.” You say as you and Sam make your way over to the wall to climb over. It was kind of a big task, you were in thick winter clothes and had your big backpack of essentials on your shoulders. Once you made it over the wall, you felt relief and finally caught your breath.
Continuing down the path, You and Sam made it to the cable car station. You were scoping the area out while Sam walked up to a plaque with a map that has words written in red.
“Wow, graffiti way up here..” Sam mumbles. You look at the graffiti in question which read: The past is beyond our control.
Reading that reminded you of what Josh told you his therapist, Dr. Hill, would tell him related to the disappearance of his sisters. Thinking about that alone gave you a weird feeling in your stomach, an unsettling one.
You soon meet Chris, right after Sam makes the smart decision not to snoop through his belongings. You remember Chris from all the funny stories Josh would tell you. He's a humorous guy, but you can tell he cares for his friends a lot from just listening to him eagerly tell the story of how he and Josh met. Chris was Josh's closest friend and you're glad Chris is there for him. Learning about how they became friends was such a sweet thing to hear. You catch yourself smiling every time Sam or Chris bring up Josh, but you can't help it.
“So how did you meet Josh, [Y/n]?” Chris asks curiously and Sam looks at you, awaiting your response. A million thoughts run through your head at once because, what do you say? You don't want to tell them you met at a mental hospital, especially since you don't know if Josh is comfortable with them knowing about his stay there in the first place.
“Oh, we met in college!” You make up a lie quickly and hope they buy it. “We were partnered up for an assignment. We stayed friends after that, but I switched majors and schools. We've kept in contact since.” You praise yourself on the inside for effortlessly coming up with a believable lie. You all continue to converse the rest of the cable car ride, and you find yourself very comfortable with Josh’s friends so far.
You get off at the next building where the cable car drops you off. You guys head inside, but find the door locked. Sam and Chris bang on the door, getting someone’s attention as a girl walks by.
“AHH! What the hell?” She exclaims. Chris calls out, “Jess hey!”
“Jessica over here!” Sam shouts from behind the window on the door. Jess walks over, looking at us curiously and somewhat annoyed.
“Uhh..Are you three having a really weird stroke?” You find that an, odd comment to reply with. But Chris speaks up. “We’re stuck in this stupid thing.”
“Can you please let us out? Pretty please?” Sam asks. Jessica presses a button and lets you all out. Chris starts to exaggerate our situation, saying he thought we were all goners and that if another ten minutes went by he would’ve chewed off his leg. You chuckle lightly as Sam calls him sick, but he just shrugs and says he has a lot of meat on his bones. Claiming it was “All muscle down there.” You shake your head, but find them all to be amusing. Sam sarcastically agrees.
Jess seemed to have an envelope in her hands, and Chris snags it away from her, earning a protest from Jess.
“Chris..” Sam says in a warning tone. You walk over to Sam and watch the situation unfold as she gives you an apologetic look for their childish behavior. After Chris and Jess stopped bickering about what is in the letter, apparently a love one to her boyfriend Mike, Jess snatches it back from him.
Chris suggests we all hurry and head up to the lodge, he was “Getting tired from all the nature and junk.”. Jess says she’ll stay behind, and wait to see who else may come up.
Chris teasingly calls back, asking if she meant Mike. Jess gets flustered a bit, fumbling over her words, “What? I mean, you know, whoever.” Jess says dismissively. You three continue on your way, Sam taking a moment to appreciate the beauty of the mountains, and the way the snow falls all around. You smile as you take in the sight with her, taking out your phone and snapping a few pictures before heading along the trail.
The three of you are only a few minutes away from the lodge, and you can feel more anxiety building up as you get closer and closer.
“We should be seeing Josh any minute now.” Chris informs and you feel your ears perk at the mention of Josh.
“Great, because I'm getting way too cold to stay out here for much longer.” Sam says in relief but you only feel more nervous.
You know there's nothing to worry about. You and Josh are technically close, you both text and call everyday, and you would talk all the time. But that didn't stop you from feeling that sinking feeling in your gut.
‘Maybe he'll change his mind about being friends with me.”
Anxious thoughts plagued your mind, your stress and intrusive thoughts wracking your head with doubts. You felt your mouth go dry. You needed to keep yourself together though. Josh might be here any second.
"Hey Josh!" You hear Chris call out and you look over to see Josh himself. Your heart is pumping in your chest even faster then before, which you didn't know was possible. You and Josh lock eyes for a moment and he gives you a smile that you return. You get a good view of him for the first time outside of the hospital in normal clothes, and man does he look good. He's wearing a cream colored beanie, with a tan vest, plait long sleeve, and black long sleeve shirt underneath. His black bracelets attract your eyes to his exposed forearms and hands. His veins bulge from small movements. If you didn't have a big crush before, you definitely had one now.
"Chris, Sam," he gives them a nod of acknowledgement and then he looks over to you "[Y/n]~" he says your name in a sing-songy voice that has you feeling a certain way. You can tell he's leaning in for a hug and you gladly return it. It was a short, almost side hug. This is the first time you've ever been in close proximity with Josh, and it was only for a split second. You were able to catch a whiff of his scent, some sort of cologne with a woody scent.
"It's been too long." Josh says to you after pulling away, and looks to Chris and Sam as well. "How was the trip here?"
"Man it feels like the mountain gets bigger every time I climb it." Chris complains in an unserious manner.
"Oh yeah? Feels the same to me." Josh smuggly smiles. You enjoy listening to their banter, but you're ready to get inside and warm up.
“Chris, I'm going to need your help getting inside." They both walk up to the front door and you take that as your cue to break off with Sam; there’s still 2 other people you have to introduce yourself to.
Josh and Chris find out that the door is iced so they make their way down the stairs. Chris stops in front of a girl named Ashley, briefly talking to her, allowing you to sneak glances at Josh’s moonlit frame, thinking he didn’t notice. Once they are done, Josh flashes you a flirtatious wink as he catches you staring, and goes with Chris towards the side of the lodge to find another opening, while you talk with the others. Your heart thumped hard against your chest again.
As Josh and Chris make their trek to find an opening, Josh speaks up, “Ashley was looking pretty hot today, right?” They stop in the middle of the trail and Chris turns to him.
“She’s kinda like a ‘sleeper hit’ kinda gal, you know? Now I just want to rip that parka right off her..Make some snow angels. Right?” Chris takes a minute to ponder, but eventually agrees to humor Josh. “Yes..Absolutely.” He says in mock agreement, crossing his arms over his chest.
“When are you gonna take her to the bone zone?” Josh inquires. Chris smirks, replying back. “Speaking of, I’ve seen the way you’ve been staring at [Y/n]. Did you invite her here for some alone time?” He nudges Josh, giving him a playful grin.
Josh chuckles, continuing on walking. “Well, maybe I am looking for the chance to take her to my bone zone, vip exclusive.” He admits, adding in a shrug. Chris scoffs and shakes his head. “You’re such a weirdo man.” He stops him again, getting his full attention.
“Listen dude. Look around you. Look at these beautiful mountains. Do you see any parents? I mean can you imagine a more perfect, ripe scenario, just dripping with erotic possibilities? You and Ashley, me and [Y/n], alone together at last. And you’ve laid all the groundwork..You’ve been a perfect gentleman. Now you come in for the kill!” Chris huffs, and nods.
“Maybe you’re right.” He says. Josh grins approvingly. “You’re a hunter, bro. No fear. No mercy. I mean she won’t even know what hit her.” Josh walks off, leaving Chris to think over his words and laugh at how cringe his words were. “Alright, alright. I got it. Jeez.” Chris follows after him, and begins to work on getting inside the window they found to be unlocked.
You and the girls, along with a guy named Matt, were still outside freezing your asses off. You heard Chris make some corny ‘ghost’ noises. Sam sighs, walking up to the window on the door, “Hi Chris, very funny.”
“Aw, how’d you know it was me?” He replied, hiding from the window. Sam ignores him and continues. “Shouldn’t you be, like, getting the lock open or something?” Chris faces the window and replies, “On it!” You guys hear what sounds like fire from behind the door and see the flames lighting up his face. He finally opens it, giving us a playful bow.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you. I’ll be here all week-“ Chris was saying, and then shrieked as a wolverine ran from in between his feet and out the door. “Shit, that thing freaked me out.” He sighs out, his heart racing from the shock. Ashley asked if he was ok, and what it was. He said it was a bear or a tiger or something, which it obviously wasn’t because bears were far larger, and tigers would not be this high up in the mountains.
But you didn’t think to bother commenting on it. Sam however does, saying it was just a cute little baby wolverine in a baby-like voice, probably to mock Chris. You giggle at it though, and Sam smiles more as you did. Chris was about to protest, when all of a sudden Josh quickly came up behind you guys. “Don’t worry buddy, you’re gonna be a big boy soon.” Chris raises a brow at him, replying with a teasing tone. “Oh yeah? So are you.” He looks at you, giving you a small wink.
You had no fucking clue what these two goofballs were talking about, probably some inside joke. Chris did say they had quite a few. So you shrug it off and everyone heads inside, Josh following close behind you. He brushes past, purposely caressing his hand against yours and heads into the living room. It makes your cheeks flush a bit red, but quickly calm yourself down, thinking it must’ve been an innocent accident. Josh stops in the middle of the room, “Home sweet home!” He exclaimed. However, Matt protested in disagreement.
Ashley notes that it was nice to be inside, even if it was still cold. Josh acknowledges her words, and says he’ll get a fire going. Matt remarks how the place doesn't look any different. You walk over to the couch and sit down, taking in the decor as they continue coversing. “That’s because no ones been up here.” Josh replies. Ashley asks, “Even with all the police coming in and out?” Chris answers her question, “Not a lot of action up here lately.”
After that, you set your bag down as the silence fills the room besides the small chatter between Chris, Sam, and Ashley. Matt was sulking though. You wanted to ask, but didn’t feel it was your place to. You head over to Josh as he was trying to start a fire, and kneel down beside him. “Hey, just wanted to say you have a really nice place here. I don’t think I’ve seen anything like it before.”
Josh looks at you, grinning at your compliments. “Thanks, but it’s really all my Mom and Dad’s work. Dad has the money, and Mom is the home furnishing expert, so she loves making fancy ass homes look neat.” You nod at his words, noticing his struggle with the fire. You slowly grab it from his hands, and start to prep the wood correctly. “It’s easier if you stack them like a teepee..” You put small pieces of kindling underneath the larger pieces of wood, and use the lighter to set it on fire, and slowly but surely a fire begins to start.
“..And that’s how you do it.” You proudly state, looking at him with a smile. He chuckles, looking at the fire you made for him. “Ok Ms. Girlscout, you didn't have to show off like that.” He teases, and you hand him back his lighter. “What can I say? A girl knows a thing or two when you’ve been camping for years.”
You two continue to converse by the fire, catching up on stuff you haven’t told each other over the phone and how the ride was here. He sneakily and slowly leaned his shoulder against yours, craving more intimacy with you in this perfect mood by the warmth of the flames. You noticed, but tried not to show it, mentally having to keep yourself calm at his small touches.
Now we all were just waiting for the three other people to come. Which would lead to a very stressful and anxiety inducing situation for everyone.

“Samantha Giddings, absolutely not.”
You cringed as your eyes stared at the costume your best friend held up, the tiny pink body suit assaulting your eyes,
“Come on pleaseeeee!”
You shook your head and continued searching through her collection of costumes, hoping to find one a little less scandalous.
“You’d look so good in this! Josh won’t be able to take his eyes off you.”
A dark blush crept on your face as you tried ignoring Sam’s teasing. You were never the type to show skin, let alone this much. You felt like you had your place in the group already, you were timid and if you were to wear a costume it would be something nerdy.
Sure, a few jokes might be said but you felt comfortable which was your number one priority.
“Just try it on okay? If you really don’t like it you don’t have to wear it.”
You sighed and snatched the costume from her hands, side eyeing her as you slowly made your to bathroom to change. You strongly doubted you would like this, you didn’t want to. But you did like it.
Your eyes widened as you look in the mirror,
“Wow… I look hot.”
“Shot! Shot! Shot!”
As the door to the Washington Lodge opened you took in your surroundings, the smell of sweat and alcohol hitting your senses. You hear a squeal of girls and turn to see your friends waving at you excitedly.
“You look amazing!”
Hannah and Beth were the first to comment on the outfit, giving you compliments for it. You were mentally preparing for what the boys would say, luckily they seemed preoccupied with their drinks.
You feel a warm embrace and smell sweet vanilla, immediately noticing it’s Jess in her tiny costume, not out of character for her.
As you continued to walk through the party you finally made your way to the kitchen, a loud wolf whistle making you sheepishly want to turn around and leave.
There you see two of your best friends, Josh and Chris fumbling over themselves to see you. They had to stop themselves from literally drooling at the sight of you.
“Trying something new?”
You rolled your eyes at them,
“Chris what are you even wearing, are you suppose to be a nun or something?”
Chris was wearing a baggy dark cloak, he must’ve found it in the basement or something. Your eyes go over Josh’s costume, he’s wearing an unfitted overall set and has a fake knife in his hand.
“Want a drink?”
Josh hands you a red solo cup filled with a mix of drinks, you cringe as you down it. Hoping this will give you some more confidence.
As the night goes on the little comments and jokes don’t seem to stop, Josh coming towards you with another drink,
“Are you suppose to be a bunny? I can only tell by the ears.”
He then seems to get an idea and moves behind you, humming as if he was confirming something,
“And tail I guess. This type of thing isn’t really you huh?”
You turn to face him with a fake angry expression and hit his arm lightly as you tease back,
“Staring at my ass, Joshua?”
Josh steps closer to you making you shiver, his hand grazing over your lower back.
“How could I not?”
The air between the two of you seemingly changed, your mouth became dry as you looked up at him, but quickly turned away to avoid his stare.
“Anyway, let’s go join the group.”
He grabbed your arm and pulled you with him, completely ignoring the entire interaction.
More drinks and laughs are shared, the group now sitting in a circle in the living room. Sam and the twins look like they’re plotting something whispering before they yell out, ‘Spin the bottle!’
You let out a sigh knowing where this could end up for some people, but you quietly agree to play.
After a few founds and some giggles and pecks it’s your turn to spin, you curse yourself for agreeing to play this childish game.
Finally you spin the beer bottle watching it twirl deciding your fate against the hard wood floors, it slowing down and finally stopping directly across from you.
fuck.
“Woo! My time to shine.”
Josh cracks his knuckles and motions you to come closer, your cheeks once again begin to heat up as you have to crawl across the circle to him.
A few cheers and whistles make you want to die inside, as you near him he smiles at you which gives you some peace in mind.
This has been your dream since middle school, always crushing on Josh through out all these years. This just wasn’t exactly the first kiss you had in mind though.
You lean in and your lips graze his, the smell his cologne and vodka overwhelm your head, your thoughts becoming fuzzy as you continue the kiss.
It was short and sweet but you felt on fire, your body buzzing with excitement. You’d lie if you weren’t saying you enjoyed it.
“Atta girl.”
After the game the party kept going on, drinks stilll going, but the energy was starting to go down. A slow song begins playing, you couldn’t help but sway your hips letting the alcohol take control.
You giggle as you continue with your dancing, slightly stumbling now and then until an arm steadys you.
“Never seen this side of you.”
Josh’s voice flows into your mind, his voice just above a whisper into your ear.
“Care to dance m’lady?”
He takes a goofy bow and extends his hand to yours, the song continues and you keep with your swaying, now with him.
“Have fun tonight, bunny?”
You snicker at this new found nickname but still nod, then letting your head rest on the warmth of his shirt,
“Felt good tonight.”
“You looked good too.”
You looked up at him expecting to see a hint of humor in his eyes but instead he looked at you with sincerity.
“Are you teasing me?”
He puts his hand on his heart in an act of playing out his words, letting you know he’s not. Even when he’s joking you can always tell with Josh how he’s thinking. Always except when it’s about you.
Through out the years Josh’s admiration for you has only grown, he loves how shy you are and how easy he can make you blush and stutter. Even if he’s teasing he knows just how far to push it, never wanting to hurt your feelings.
Being best friends was amazing, but it was killing you both not to be more. You didn’t want to ruin the friendship, and neither did he.
If it wasn’t for the amount of alcohol you had buzzing through you, your next move would have never even crossed your mind as something you’d do. But here you are, drunk and kissing Josh.
Everything drowned out as you stood on your tippy toes and pulled Josh into a kiss, all you could focus on was him. Your heart beated out of your chest as he continued to kiss you back, your lips brushing against each other.
Your hands held onto his overalls for support as he pulled you in to deepen the kiss, his tongue swiping over your lips. Your heart races as you feel one of his hands slide down your back.
“Get a room, love birds!”
Mike yells out, making you pull away quickly and turn to see some of the group watching. Sam smiles and gives you a big thumbs up. You pinch the bridge of your noise and see Josh wink at Chris.
Josh grabs your hand and pulls you away from the group, towards another room.
“Josh! where are we going?”
He doesn’t answer as he weaves around the maze of this home, finally resting on the door to one of the many rooms of the house.
“I thought you deserved some privacy, not that we have to do anything… but maybe we should, um, talk?”
Josh rubs the back of his neck as he motions for you to entire the bedroom. You feel yourself sobering up with anxiety, the night replaying in your head.
“Joshua, are you just joking with me tonight?”
You needed to know, if this was for real or if it’s just some drunken prank. You knew how you felt but you wouldn’t allow yourself to be hurt if the feelings weren’t truly mutual.
“Trust me, this wasn’t just some drunken kiss. I’ve liked you since like high school y’know?”
Your eyes widened and you hit his chest
“Why didn’t you tell me you dork?”
He chuckle and shrugged his shoulders,
“I didn’t really think you’d like me back.”
You furrowed your brows in shock, how could you not like him. All these years you thought he would never like you. You’re a little younger, everytime you’ve wanted to say something you stop yourself.
“Josh, how could I not?”
You use his same tone as earlier when he answered your question about staring at your ass, earning a laugh from him.
“Hey I was serious! How could I not stare? Acting all innocent then showing up to the party in this…”
He gestures to your tight bunny costume, which earns a spin from you. He steps closer to you and looks you up and down,
“Like what you see?”
He mumbles a ‘Hell yeah’ and grabs your waist pulling you closer, his lips soon on yours.
The kiss starts slow, almost scared that this wasn’t real, but it quickly turns into more. It’s needy and rough, he picks you up and puts you down onto a desk.
His bulge positioned right between your open legs which earns a soft whimper from you. He pushes himself closer to you and begins kissing down your face and neck.
“You know how long i’ve wanted this? God, you’re so beautiful.”
His words filled your head and pooled straight between your legs, you pushed against him for any sort of friction. A low gasp left his lips as you rubbed yourself on his growing tent, his eyes closing letting himself enjoy it.
“Joshy, just fuck me already.”
He was surprised at your sudden whine, especially considering he has always seen you so pure.
“Not so innocent now, are we?”
You shake your head at his suggestion before unbuttoning the bottom of your body suit, you let him continue the rest by pulling down your pink tights.
You’re both drunken messes, neither of you caring how this would affect tomorrow or the rest of your friendship. Both desperate and needy for each other.
Josh unbuttons his overalls and lets them fall down his frame, leaving him with his underwear and shirt left, quickly he pulls down his boxers and lets his cock spring free.
He rubs himself before lining up to your entrance which is coated and all ready for him. He slips in with ease, both of you releasing a string of curses and moans.
He begins a steady pace of thrusting into you, the desk slamming into the walls with every push. You held onto him as he continued,
“I’ve dreamt of this.”
You say between breaths, and it’s true. You’ve laid down in restless nights touching yourself just to the idea of his kisses, his touch, his cock, all of him. The amount of times you’ve woken up sweating from a dream of him was countless, and honestly worrying.
But here you are, your best friend balls deep inside you all because you decided to wear a costume sam suggested. The drinks definitely helped, but this was something you have wanted for years.
Your thoughts are interrupted by a sudden knock at the door,
“Hey uh Josh? I just wanted to know if the cabin was still open for business.”
Josh covered your mouth with his hand as you began reaching towards your climax, needy noises leaving your lips.
“Uh hold on Mike, i’m a little busy.”
He smiles at you as he continues his work on you, your eyes rolling back with every thrust
“Okay man, me and Em will be waiting in the living room. For whenever you’re done fuckin”
You didn’t even care anymore if anyone knew, all you care for was the high you were chasing. Josh eventually let his hand fall from your mouth seemingly having the same thoughts as you.
He knew just where to touch, getting reactions from you with every lick and kiss.
“Josh i’m so close.”
Your cries grew louder, his name falling from your lips like a worship,
Your noises only encouraged Josh to quicken his pace, his cock hitting right where it needed to.
Your knuckles turned white and you gripped onto the wood of the desk, you could’ve sworn it was breaking under your grasp. With one final scream of his name you felt your body become weightless, giving him full control.
Josh gasped and pulled out quickly, barely in time before his cum shot out onto your thighs and some onto your costume.
His forehead rested onto your shoulder, both of you panting, gasping for air. He kisses your shoulder before pulling up his underwear,
“Let me get something to clean you up.”
The bare minimum and it still made your heart skip a beat, he was gentle with his touch ironically even though moments ago he was using all his power to keep your legs spread. After you two clean up and redress fully, he begins to walk out the door, you grab his hand and pull in him.
“Look, I know Mike and Em are waiting but I just,”
You pause and look into his eyes,
“I don’t want this to just be a one time thing, you know im not that type of girl joshy.”
He smiles at the nickname usually only you use, he reached to cup your face before kissing your forehead.
“I don’t plan on this being a one time thing, I want this between us, if that’s what you’re asking.”
You nod and lean in for one more kiss before parting, getting the reassurance you need you let him leave the room.
As soon as Josh swings the door open you can hear the berate of whistles and clapping, your eyes squeezed close wanting nothing more than to hide in this room forever.
Sam steps in and laughs at your obvious uncomfortable face,
“Told you the outfit would work.”

things i liked about the until dawn remake prologue (in no particular order)
washington siblings all together in one shot. i know we saw the twins moving josh to the couch in the trailer, but still. boo fucking hoo it's very sweet. i wish beth had put a blanket on josh to really make me weep and wail but i'll take this.
em and jess drawing on chris's face. man, the way i screamed when it cut to chris's face with marker all over it - incredible on its own, and being chris & josh brained i assumed josh did it before he passed out. then i screamed all over again when i saw the photo in the camera roll. so good, and it really aligned with the very teasing friendships i think chris has with em and jess.
the camera. imo, this is ballistic moon's one and only moment of brilliance in the whole remake. even though some of their outfits are incorrect (why is josh wearing his exact fit from next year? why does ashley switch outfits between photos?), the spirit is exactly right. it gives us a glimpse into their friend group, and this little bit goes a long way in terms of showing that they ARE actually a friend group and not a bunch of tangentially connected people who seem to dislike one another but inexplicably vacation together.
being able to explore a previously inaccessible part of the lodge (in the prologue). i know we go here later, but it was a cool moment, to think to myself, "ok, and now i jiggle this doorknob even though i know it'll be locked," and then it wasn't locked. i gasped, i can't lie. unfortunately, i think it set my expectations too high for the rest of the game, because i was already hoping we would be able explore a new area or two in the lodge. was really hoping for josh's and beth's bedrooms, for example. the first totem is also outside here, so again i think this made me expect the totems would be more substantially moved. the one here (by the garbage) is in a radically different location, but many of the others are not. in fact, a lot of them are like two inches to the left or whatever. so. this was neat in the moment! it just made me feel let down later.
idk i like that purity ring song so. hannah washington good music taste confirmed 👍
stay tuned for the thrilling and much longer sequel, things i did not like about the until dawn remake prologue.

Writing Request - Reader x Josh (Until Dawn) Body Shots🫗
Y'all thought I only did rottmnt? Nah, and @mermmarie tapped me for some reader x Josh Washington body shot goodness! We're in the last day, people! I might not get too man more of these done but encourage your friends to vote!
From now until the poll closes, if you can prove to me that you voted Hassan/Mikey in this poll then I will do any short story writing request like the one below or draw you any doodle of your choosing!
ᴰᶦˢᶜˡᵃᶦᵐᵉʳ: ᴵ ᵃᵐ ⁿᵒᵗ ᶦⁿ ᵃⁿʸʷᵃʸ ᵃˢˢᵒᶜᶦᵃᵗᵉᵈ ᵒʳ ᵉⁿᵈᵒʳˢᵉᵈ ᵇʸ ᵗʰᵉ ᶜᵒᵐᵖᵉᵗᶦᵗᶦᵒⁿ ᵒʳ ᶦᵗˢ ᶜᵒⁿᵗᵉˢᵗᵃⁿᵗˢ.
We got a little mature content down below, but not explicit! Enjoy~
The party was in full swing. The house was bursting at the seams with people and every step had to be taken by the side. You squirmed past others, not bothering with apologies and only trying to find a sliver of enjoyment in a sea of decadence. The Washington's had always been known for their ragers, but hearing tale and seeing them in person was something else.
You needed a drink.
You were trying your best to get one, but you kept getting boxed out. Between the multi-room mansion and the throngs of people, you were just about done with getting shoved. A crack opened up between two people making out and you made a dash for it. They stumbled for inebriation and made waves which resulted in a parted sea. It was a clean trip to an embarrassingly large kitchen and a drink selection that would make a bar jealous.
You held your cup close and the liquid went down sweet with the mixture with a satisfying burn on the back end. It was perfect in knowing exactly how much intake you were getting and you mingled as your body loosened. A song you liked came on and you swayed with its motion. The thump settled into your brain and its bass took your body.
It helped you slip into a satisfied trance and forget that your friends had dipped last minute. In any other scenario you might not have gone alone, but you had spent all that time getting ready. Fuck it, you thought, you looked too good to waste it on another night at home so you'd gone out.
You would be careful enough, you long decided. Your drink was never out of sight and if it did, they had more than enough liquor for you to pour another. You had nothing on you to pinch beside your phone and that was safely tucked away in a place that you would know in an instant if anyone was copping a feel.
Such a thing was happening now as someone ground against your ass in rhythm and you lolled your head back in time to see who it was. A mediocre man was a little too bold behind you, but you supposed that was to be expected. It was always those guys who had just enough to their facial structure that sloppily thought they could reach above their standards.
This was the main fare of the party, the average masses. You danced with him before you felt his hand ghost over your arm. It felt a little more leading and you thought he might grab your and to finally face you, but instead he shot away. The warning signs went off in your mind and you clearly saw your cup blocking the way. With a dreary glance you knew that meant it was time to dump it and left whoever behind to go refresh your beverage.
Someone screamed out something about a chance of hail and there was a shattering. You looked up where you were pouring a bottle and could sort of see out of a kitchen window through overly floral curtains. Outside some boys had proudly torn their shirts off and were just as busy peacocking as they slammed back shots. It was entertaining enough and you sipped as you headed out there.
You watched on with some amusement as a violent game had been concocted. You never did figure out whatever rules they had set, but the clear goal was drinking and then hucking the small glass receptacles as hard as possible at some gaudy sculpture. It was a movie set piece, you vaguely knew, from the Washington's dad, that had taken root in the garden with a few other ugly pieces.
"Where's Josh!? He's got the arm! He could hit peak, I know it!"
"Yeah, man!"
"Where's our Party Poobah?!"
"What the fuck!?"
There was good natured ribbing and you concealed your mouth as you turned away from the games.
Josh.
It wasn't like you expected to see the man of the hour. He was legendary for hosting these parties, but he was just that. He was there for the purpose of getting lost in himself. The action was where he was and everything around that was a merry hurricane. He was the epicenter and since he attracted only level five events, he was an anomaly.
You wouldn't just be lucky to see him, it would be some kind of miracle.
It was about on par as getting into a VIP section. Skinny girls with pale skin were guaranteed access and that alone bored you. Men's picks for stereotypical hot chicks as about on par with the audacity of the large swathe of average guys. It was all an exhausting back and forth game of mediocrity that you would have no part of.
"Move aside! We're on a mission!"
That was Josh.
With your arm crossed to more comfortably hold your cup, your head rose high.
Speak of the devil and he doth appear, you amused yourself as you tried to place which direction he was. The music just swallowed up noise enough that it happened to throw voices. It filled in space you might have hoped to delineate, but said man had the power to conjure storms.
"This is the party police!" Josh came in with sharp eyes and a face splitting grin. "Prepare to be strip searched!!"
He was flanked by lackeys that weren't Chris, but you doubted the other man was far behind. The others weren't so easy to manipulate into Josh's little schemes and you watched as he, the boss among, them signaled them to fan out in a military manner.
They took on the role of dogs, something you had a feeling Josh had told them to do beforehand, and you watched them howl. They then fanned out, sniffing up skirts and startling men with a sharp gab to their asses. All manner of reaction was had, but when a man on all fours snuffed his way up to you, you looked down at him with enough disdain that he moved on with his tale between his legs.
"Idiots." You heard Josh say in a voice that almost seemed like he hadn't meant it.
You looked up and found him staring squarely at you.
Your gaze grew dull as he must have meant that insult for you.
There was a flash of attention in his eye before he surged forward.
"They say you can't teach old dogs, but I think that's true of all animals!"
You almost looked behind you because if he was talking to you, you weren't sure what he meant.
"Humans too." He came squarely up to you. "Don't mind them, beautiful. I've been running around looking for you all night."
"Me?" You asked him with a tip of your cup.
"Oh yeah!" He grinned with something that had a malevolently edge.
Confused signals failed to spark in your mind as he circled you.
"I mean..." He was behind you. "... look..." He came around your side with a slink. "... you..."
It oozed palpable desire and your skin lit even though he hadn't touched you.
"Gorgeous. Supple. I need you. I've been looking for candidates."
Your guard went up. "Candidates?"
"Yep." He swept up from your body and leveled with your eyes. "I'm scouting. Needed a ringer. Be mine?"
There was a boyish tilt to his last question that straddled the line between his devious nature and honest begging.
Your stomach bubbled and you shifted your hips to quell it.
Josh watched on like he picked up every micromovement. "I wouldn't just say this. I've searched the whole party. You're the one."
The whole party.
There were hundreds of girls here.
You?
It was flattering, but you still weren't sure what you were signing up for.
"And what exactly is this for...?" You lowered your cup.
Josh positively beamed. "You're the perfect glass."
Your mouth rounded out in confusion and you were about to ask when he caught your wrist.
Your hand shot up like a flag. "I've got mine!!! Let's do this!!"
"Finally!"
"Let's go!!"
"Hell yeah!!"
"Shots! Shots!"
Before you could do anything else, you were being ushered through the house. Not quite carried, your feet only hit the ground once every few steps as the mob steered you. The only constant was Josh's cuff around your wrist and besides that was the roving pack of men that puffed like slobbering sled dogs.
You were soon in a room with four massage tables set up and for the first time, you got enough ground to snap back on your tether.
"What the fuck!?"
"No, baby shh...!" Josh came around you with cautious hands. "Just look. Look!"
He moved so you could peer around him and watched as three men broke from the pack. They escorted girls of their choosing in different manners. One took one gentlemanly by the hand while another hoisted a squealing girl up in his arms. All their destinations were the tables though and they each laid down with smiles plastered to their faces. They men tended to them with hungry eyes and you watched as each of them rolled their shirts up to expose their stomachs.
"We're having a little competition." Josh said as he also surveyed the scene. "Drunkest wins."
"No, thanks." You responded instantly.
"Not you." He gave you only his profile. "Unless you wanna...?"
Your cup had disappeared in transit and you cocked a hip at him.
"Alright, alright!" He held his hands up defeated and addressed you. "I'll explain."
You cocked a brow.
"Body shots."
Both words popped off his lips and pounded in your ears.
"You see them..." He came around you like sharing a secret and used the arm over your shoulders to point at the others. "They're the idiots. They don't care about the competition. They don't even care about getting drink. They picked all these twigs and for what? You can't hold liquor in that! I'm here to party and I'm here to drink. Make sense?"
You meant to think with reason, but you saw one thing.
Josh's tongue.
Ever since he'd uttered the phrase, you had been watching it.
It rolled around his mouth.
It caressed every letter.
It tongued every nook.
Every cranny.
It was going to run over you.
The superseded reason and you held out for one last complaint. "Typical. You just want me for my body."
He recited your name so clearly that it almost seemed like he tapped some nefarious database.
You gaped at him.
"Partly true. That body is banging." His eyes dip purposefully before re-locking onto yours as he continues. "But believe me, I made sure you were invited. I'm sorry your friends couldn't make it."
It felt like there were a hundred things wrong with that statement, but the way he looked at you, like you were the only being in the world for him, shot straight to your core.
You belly button.
Where he was going to jam his tongue.
"Fine." You managed to make it seem just blasé enough.
"Excellent." He was all teeth and for a moment you feared you'd be devoured.
Instead he took your hand in a firm grip and lead you to the table. In his own fashion and unlike the others, he didn't try to force you. He stood beside and bowed for you to take the table like this was your competition to win. It made you feel all the more important as you hopped up.
He pressed along side you and his eyes never left yours as you wriggled to get comfortable on the firm table. You got as settled as you could before you went for your shirt. There was chatter all around and you thought Josh might ogle you, but he kept his gaze nothing but reassuring. He quirked a brow when you were settled and ready before he brought his head up to announce the rules.
There was a designated pourer who would come around so no one could cheat drinks. They alcohol would flow as necessary until someone tapped out or if the liquid ran out of bounds. That meant not getting slurped up before it leaked off someone's body and with that Chris walked through with a bottle held high in demonstration.
Cheers and bets were placed behind you, but Josh gave you his eyes again. "Just you and me, gorgeous."
You lowered your lashes at the all too obvious flirt and it only made him smile wider.
The competition commenced.
You couldn't really see the other tables, but you heard a loud sucking along with a girl giggling out of her mind. The next person went and the guy complained for both his girl to suck it in which earned him ire. He demanded Chris pour more, but the guy only approached you with his bottle tipped.
"Ready?"
"Always, Cochise."
Chris poured the shot into your belly button.
It pooled up and with a healthy glug and you tried not to shiver at how the room temperature drink chilled straight through your body. A little streaked through the folds in your stomach and Josh shot forward with his tongue extended. It scraped wet and warm over your skin before teasing around your center. He flicked his gaze up, making hard eye contact before his tongue retracted and his lips puckered. With the expertise of someone who had clearly done one too many hands free shots, he drank you dry.
Your stomach flipped, but he wasn't done. He circled his tongue as a moat around your belly button and licked inward for the sake of it. it spoke of what else he could do with the appendage and you arched a little off the table. He kissed down into your soft belly to ease you and you vaguely heard Chris come around again.
"That's one out!"
You blinked as you hadn't heard any dissent.
To your immediate right, the girl and guy there were fighting about how she hadn't told him she had an outie.
More booze was poured into you in your distraction and you squeaked at the chance it would be lost. Josh swept wide, drinking in your skin and catching both sides of leakage in an expert arch. Your lips crinkled a squiggled line and he lifted up with shining lips. "Doing alright there?"
"Fine. Totally fine." You hiccuped.
"Very fine." He lobbed back.
Your head flew back to the table and you heard him chuckle in a way that sounded like it was all around you.
"We're down to two!"
You didn't bother looking.
Josh had found your hand beside the table and squeezed it as he readied himself.
It was just a little mortifying, as if you needed to be soothed, but he refused to let go as Chris appeared once again.
"Bottom's up!" The glasses-clad man chuckled.
"To the top, my good man!" Josh cheered.
"You sure? The other's spilled that way" Chris glanced at his best friend.
"Oh, she can handle it." Josh looked at you.
You believed him.
Flat out, without question.
You were stupid and you liked it.
You readied your stomach in your best flex and Chris poured.
You felt yourself fill and the bare arch you were doing pushed your breasts further into the sides of your cups. The weight held heavy and parted so you had the best view for the moment your stomach overflowed and Josh dove in.
With unsightly slurps, his tongue darted fast and he sucked with all his might. He caught your skin up into his mouth in puckered moments that didn't linger because there was more booze to drink. It spilled a messy burn around your belly and he was apt to lick the plate clean even while it soaked his face.
A single drop escaped down a fold.
"Josh!" You gasped.
He was at the pinnacle of the cup and looked up at you under his euphoric lids.
The drip tickled your side before it disappeared onto the table.
"That's out!" Someone called.
An upset tore through the crowd.
Josh lazily finished his drink and you felt heat pulsing straight down your body.
When he finally came up, it wasn't to accept silver, he had only gold in his eyes.
The winner was celebrated, but Josh tucked closer into you. "You know... I feel like I've only gotten a taste..."
You held out for a single second before matching his darkened gaze. "Get ready to drink up then."

the city’s familiar hum drifted through the windows of your apartment, a constant murmur that usually comforted you. tonight though? it was drowned out by the pounding of your heart, louder than the traffic outside. you sat curled up on the couch, trying to focus on a movie, but your mind kept drifting back to the unsettling feeling that had been gnawing at you for weeks.
at first, it was subtle. small things you couldn’t quite explain. the sense of being watched when you walked down the street. strange calls in the middle of the night that hung up the moment you answered them. then, you began noticing changes in your apartment. things out of place. your doors slightly ajar when you were sure you’d closed them
and then came the messages.
the first one had been just a picture, your apartment building, taken from across the street. the second was a shot of you, taken through your window while you were inside, unaware. you tried to tell yourself it was just a sick prank, but deep down, you knew better. someone was watching you.
your phone buzzed, making you jump.  glancing down at the screen, your stomach twisting as you saw the notification. another unknown number. you didn’t want to answer, but you knew you couldn’t ignore it.
taking a deep breath, you pick up.
“hello?” your voice was steady, but your hand trembled slightly.
silence greeted you at first. then, a voice. low and distorted in your ear.
“you shouldn’t leave your curtains open like that. i can see everything.”
your heart stopped. the voice was unfamiliar, masked by some kind of device that made it impossible to recognize. but the words made your blood run cold. you glanced toward the windows, the curtains drawn, but it didn’t matter. you felt exposed, vulnerable.
“who is this?” you demanded, trying to keep your voice firm, though the tremor of fear betrayed you.
the voice chuckled, slow and deliberate. “you’ve been asking the wrong questions. it’s not who i am… it’s when i’ll come for you.”
you swallowed hard, backing away from the window, scanning the room. “this isn’t funny,” you said, the quiver in your voice made it clear you didn’t believe your own words.
“oh, it’s no joke,” the voice replied smoothly. “i’ve been watching you for a long time. waiting for the right moment. you never even seemed to notice.”
the air felt thick, like it was pressing down on you, making it harder to breathe. you gripped your phone tighter, your mind racing trying to find some kind of explanation. “what do you want from me?”
another chuckle, darker this time. “i just want you to listen. i want you to understand that you’re mine. no one else gets to have you.”
you stumbled back, your hand gripping the edge of the kitchen counter to steady yourself.
“you’re insane,” you whispered.
“no,” the voice replied, a soft menace threading through. “i’m just patient and i’m finally done waiting.”
pounding at the door made you drop the phone in shock. you spun around, staring at the entrance to your apartment, your pulse quickening. the knock came again, slower and more deliberate, like whoever was on the other side knew you were too scared to answer.
without thinking, you grabbed the phone off the floor, your hands shaking as you dialed the police. but before you could even hit send, another message appeared on the screen, a photo of your door, taken from the hallway. the same door now rattling as the knocks turned more aggressive.
“i told you i’d be close,” the voice hissed through the phone, as if reading your thoughts.
you clutched the phone to your chest, backing away from the door. it was locked, but you knew that wouldn’t stop him for long. panic surged through you as the knocks stopped, replaced by a chilling silence. the calm before the storm.
your phone buzzed again, a text this time. you stared down at it, dread settling in the pit of your stomach as you read the message:
let me in, or i’ll let myself in.
you swallowed hard, your eyes darting to the window. fifth floor. no fire escape. there was no way out.
then, the door clicked.
your blood froze as you heard the subtle sound of the lock turning, the doorknob twisting slowly. you had locked it, you were sure of it. but now it was opening, inch by inch. and then, through the crack of the door, you saw it, pale white and expressionless. the mask.
they stepped inside, closing the door behind them with a slow, deliberate movement. they were tall, dressed in black, their gloved hands resting calmly at their sides. they didn’t speak, just stood there, the mask tilting slightly as whoever it was regarded you, as though you were the prey they’d finally caught.
your breath came in shallow gasps as you backed away, your mind racing for a plan. you grabbed a kitchen knife from the counter, holding it in front of you with trembling hands.
“stay back!” you shouted, though the fear in your voice was unmistakable.
the masked figure tilted their head again, then slowly reached up to the mask. for a moment, you thought they were going to lunge, but instead, they pulled the mask off in one fluid motion, revealing the face beneath.
it was josh.
your heart thundered in your chest when the realisation crashed down on you. your friend. someone you’d trusted, laughed with, shared countless moments with, was standing in front of you, twisted by something dark.
josh smiled, but it wasn’t the familiar, friendly smile you knew. it was something darker, more menacing. “surprised?”
you shook your head, trying to make sense of what you were seeing. “josh… why?”
he stepped closer, ignoring the knife you held between you. “why? because i’ve always wanted you and you never saw it. never saw me. but now… you don’t have a choice.”
you stumbled back, your mind reeling, your grip on the knife faltering. “this isn’t you,” you whispered, though you weren’t sure if you were trying to convince him or yourself.
josh’s smile widened. “oh, it’s me. the real me. and i’ve been planning this for a long time.”
he lunged suddenly, and you swung the knife, but he grabbed your wrist with force, yanking the blade from your hand and tossing it aside like it was nothing. his face was inches from yours now, his breath hot against your skin as he whispered:
“no one else gets to have you, no one but me.”
your breath came out in shallow gasps as josh’s grip tightened around your wrist. his touch was too rough, too possessive, as he pulled you closer. there was something in his eyes, something disturbingly calm.
“josh, stop,” you choked out, your voice trembling, barely being able to hold back the tears. you didn’t want to believe this was the same person you had once felt a connection with, the one who made you laugh and feel safe.
his face was inches from yours now, his eyes dark with obsession. the familiar warmth that once made you feel safe was long gone, replaced by something colder, more dangerous.
“you don’t get it,” he said softly, almost as if explaining something simple to a child. “i’ve been waiting for this. for you. no one else gets you like i do.”
you shook your head, pulling at your trapped wrist. “you’re not thinking straight,” you tried to reason with him, desperation creeping into your voice. “this… this isn’t you.”
he laughed, a low, humourless sound that sent chills down your spine. “this is the real me,” he said, tilting his head. “i’ve just been hiding it. but you… you’ve always been the one i couldn’t hide from.”
you had to get out of here, had to get away from him. but he was so close, his hold on you unrelenting.
“i won’t hurt you,” he whispered, his voice turning soft again, almost affectionate. “i would never hurt you. but if you try to leave… if you run…” his eyes darkened, his expression hardening for just a second. “i can’t let that happen.”
josh’s grip tightened as you winced in pain, struggling to pull away. but no matter how much you tried, his strength overpowered you. you needed to think, to act before it was too late. the knife lay on the floor, just out of reach, glinting mockingly under the dim kitchen light.
“josh, you’re scaring me,” you whispered, your voice shaking with a mix of terror and desperation. “please, just stop. we can talk about this.”
he tilted his head, his eyes narrowing. “you don’t understand,” he said softly, as if talking to a frightened child. “there’s nothing to talk about. it’s already decided. you belong with me.”
you took another cautious step back, searching for anything that could help you escape. but he was quick, lunging forward again, catching you by the waist and pinning you against the wall. the air left your lungs as you collided, the cold surface pressing into your back.
you gasped, you could feel his breath on your skin, it taking every ounce of willpower to keep your composure. “josh, don’t do this,” you pleaded, struggling against his hold.
he leaned closer, his voice a whisper. “you can’t run from me. you’re mine now.”
with that, he pressed his body against yours and for a fleeting moment, you caught a glimpse of the boy you once knew. but the flicker of familiarity vanished just as quickly, replaced by the overwhelming dread of what he had become. you had to escape, before it was too late.
summoning every ounce of strength, you pushed against him, twisting your body just enough to create a sliver of space. “josh, please!” you cried, desperation lacing your voice. “you can still walk away!”
his expression hardened, a mix of anger and confusion flashing across his face. for an instant, it felt like he was fighting against the darkness that had taken hold of him. “you don’t understand!” he shouted, the intensity in his voice causing you to flinch. “i’ve waited too long for this!”
in that moment, you realised you couldn’t reason with him. as he leaned in, ready to press his advantage, you kicked hard at his knee, feeling it buckle beneath you. he stumbled back, surprise etched across his features.
taking your chance, you dashed past him, racing toward the door. you fumbled with the lock, your hands shaking, heart pounding as adrenaline rushed through you. you could hear him recovering, his footsteps echoing behind you. the door clicked open just as you felt his hand graze your shoulder.
“stop!” he shouted, but you didn’t look back. you burst through the door and into the dimly lit hallway, sprinting toward the stairs. the weight of his presence lifting with every stride.
you charged down the steps, the cold air rushing around you as you burst out into the night. the city lights blurred around you and the familiar sounds of traffic and laughter filled your ears, grounding you.
your lungs burned as you ran, you didn’t stop until you reached the street, gasping for breath. you turned to look back at the building, he wouldn’t follow you out here, not with so many eyes watching.
but the safety of the crowd didn’t quiet the storm of dread brewing in your chest. you’d escaped him this time, but the knowledge that he was still out there, lurking in the shadows, waiting for another opportunity to strike, gnawed at you. you could feel the weight of his gaze, a ghostly presence that would haunt your every step.
with shaking hands, you pulled out your phone and dialled 911, your voice steadying as you explained everything. but even as you spoke, you couldn’t shake the feeling that the night wasn’t truly over.
josh would never let you go.
not now, not ever.

permafrost - josh washington

You had never screamed so hard in your life, but you had also never been so close to death before. It stared you right in the face and in your state, with the cold freezing you to your bones and nothing but a towel to cover your damp skin, you had never been as vulnerable as you were in this moment.
The events of the night flashed by you in a daze, much like you had assumed your life would when you were about to die. Sam had offered the bath to you first and you had taken it gladly, happy to get warm after freezing your ass off while waiting for Josh and Chris to get the doors open. You were one of the first to get there because you were generally the most punctual, but apparently all that "butterfly effect" bullshit Chris was on lately actually had some truth to it. Because if you hadn't come early and almost gotten frostbite, then Sam wouldn't have let you in the bath first, and thus you wouldn't have been the one tricked out of the bathroom and chased throughout the house by the maniac in the mask who now held a knife over your throat.
"Last words?"
He snickered in that tinny voice and you just screamed louder, tears flooding down your face as you squirmed underneath him. The psycho had straddled your hips and held his other hand up to the hem of your towel, and it was impossible to tell whether he was holding it there to keep you decent or just taunting you for when he would rip it off and leave you exposed. You couldn't imagine it was the former, though, and it made you hiccup as you prayed it would just be over quickly. Nothing in your short life could have prepared you for your last moments here–laid out on the cold concrete of the Washington's estate basement, crying, nearly naked, and pinned by a psychopath who had probably already killed all of your absent friends. You just wanted out, and begged for mercy in a shaky voice.
"Aw…okay."
The killer paused, and if you weren't still trembling from the cold you would have thought you imagined it. You squeezed your eyes shut, thinking it might have just been another game–but they shot open again as soon as you heard the clang of the blade skittering across the concrete, the psycho having tossed it haphazardly out of reach. He lifted his arms and stuck his fingers beneath the lower jaw of the mask, and with a flourish, it was gone. And you could not believe whose face you saw underneath it.
"You convinced me. I guess I won't kill you after all!"
Josh Washington, your close friend and former classmate, laughed in your face. Laughed. In the way he would laugh at a corny joke or a video of someone slipping on ice. Not in the situation where he had threatened to kill you, one of his dear friends, and absolutely humiliated and terrified you in the process.
You were stunned into silence. Your mouth hung open and you had no idea what to do, what to say…but when Josh finally got off of you and grabbed you by the arm to bring you back up to your feet, you finally found the strength to grit your teeth and shove his hands off of you. The words "Is this a fucking prank, you asshole?!" escaped you long before you would have the strength to rethink them, and while Josh sobered up quicker than you expected he would, he still had a whisper of that grin on his face that just made you even more furious than you could ever remember being.
"I thought it would bring us together. Y'know," He stood back, and gestured vaguely around the basement like you should have known what he was referring to. "...Like you and the others brought my sisters together. Remember that?"
The tone of his voice brought that boiling anger down to a simmer, tampered down by a feeling washing over you that you hadn't felt for a while–guilt pried your heart open and sank into a wound you thought had closed, only to realize that it was just as tender as the day that tragedy had happened. And in that moment, you felt your defenses go up.
"I had nothing to do with that, Josh!"
"You didn't stop them."
"I tried!"
You felt a quiver in your own voice again, and arguing like this with someone you used to call a friend while he stood there, stoic, just made a fresh set of tears well up in your eyes. And you had done enough crying for the night, so with your hands reaching up to reassure the strength of your towel's hem around your chest, you took a step backwards towards the stairwell and mustered up the worst glare you could manage towards Josh.
"Do me a favour, actually: don't ever talk to me again. We're not friends anymore!"
With that you turned and stomped back towards the steps and took each one just as angrily, the concrete cold enough to hurt as you ventured back up towards relative safety. You knew Josh was following you by his own footsteps hurrying to keep up, but as you stiffly marched past the doorway and through the home theater to climb the stairs up to the main floor, his hand hovered over your bare shoulder just long enough for you to move out of its way.
"C'mon," He sounded desperate, and as much as you didn't want to care, you knew you did. That sad, kicked puppy expression was probably making its appearance on his face too, and if you turned to look at him you might even crack for real. "Come back! Come on, it was a prank. I wanted to get back at them, really…I didn't really want to hurt you, though."
You made it around the railing in the living room, up the second set of stairs, and all the way up to the landing before Josh managed to catch up enough to walk alongside you. His needy attempts at coaxing you into laughing this all off were beyond frustrating, and when you finally managed to get on to the second floor you turned to face him again. He stopped only two steps from the top where you took your stand, but even that much distance was enough for you to feel like you towered over him even though the opposite was usually the case.
"You had no problem chasing me around and watching me in the bath!"
Your hands clenched into fists, mostly in an attempt to keep from just slapping him outright, and your shouting caused him to flinch but not back down.
"Well, that's because I like you. Wouldn't you do the same if you liked me, given the chance?"
"Shut up, Josh."
You waved him off with a huff, and retraced your steps back towards the bathroom that you had been chased out of just a little while ago. The prints left behind by your feet when they were wet from the bath were still visible outside of the door, and even though you pulled on it to let it close behind you, a certain someone let it hit his forearm as he pushed his way in after you.
"Do you like me?"
"I did, before you fucking traumatized me!"
You threw those words over your shoulder as you bent down in front of your gym bag, the one you had lugged all the way up the mountain just for Josh's sake. And luckily for you, he offered you the same courtesy and had simply kicked it out of sight behind the tub so you wouldn't think to dress before he started chasing you. While the clothes you'd changed out of still weren't there, you rummaged around and found something else to change into–not exactly as flattering, but anything that offered you some decency was better than what you had now.
"I like you. I really, really like you a lot. C'mon." You were only half-listening to Josh's drivel, and when you turned to see him holding a hand out to you at your place on the floor, you scoffed and got back to your feet with your clothes draped over one arm.
"Did I not just tell you to stop talking? And get out."
This time, you did smack his hand away from you, and he pulled it back with a soft enough sigh that it almost made you feel bad for him. Almost, but not quite.
"Do I have to? I mean, I've already seen you naked. You've got a really nice body…"
"Out!"
And as per usual, whatever shred of sympathy you had for him evaporated the second he opened his mouth, and especially when he whispered that part under his breath. You put your hands on his chest and pushed him backwards, walking him all the way to the hallway before slamming the door in his face the moment he was over the threshold.
"Fucking asshole…"
You muttered to yourself as you dropped your towel and pulled your clothes on. You were so strung out even upon realizing that it was all a facade, and though you were still tense without your other friends around, knowing Josh he probably sent them on all kinds of wild goose chases just to get them out of the lodge and running all over the mountain. At least, that was what he did with Mike and Jess, and even so you were sure they were having a grand old time with that cabin all to themselves. It wasn't a specific kind of jealousy you felt over them–you had no interest in either of them, at least romantically–but you did have a sense of desire for what they had. They were so carefree. If only you could be more like that, maybe you would have reacted differently to what Josh had put you through–maybe you really would have laughed it off instead of sobbing like a baby and blowing up once it was all over. It might not have been a healthy reaction, but at least you wouldn't be feeling an oncoming wave of tears like you were now, only to wipe them away as soon as they showed up and stop in front of the mirror to try and cool down before you left.
You expected Josh to do as you asked and leave you alone, and at least get out of your sight for a little while so you could calm down. But when you finally opened the door again, he was still standing there. And if anything, he seemed relieved that you were scowling back at him.
"Please give me a chance. I'll make it up to you, I swear." Josh looked into your eyes and your defenses already started cracking. Right then, you had a choice–you could choose to keep that anger you had close to your heart, or…you could let it go, because if nothing else, he did seem pretty sorry and he had expressed it in that awkward way of his.
"Fine! Fine. Just…don't fucking do that again."
"Which part?" He backed down the second you shot him your signature dirty look, raising his hands up as a show of his surrender with a guilty smile still plastered across his stupidly pretty face. "I'm kidding! Kidding."
With that, and with the tension eased up a little bit, you stepped out into the hallway and wandered over to the railing. It overlooked the living room below and the huge, sphere-shaped art piece that hung from the ceiling that his dad had bought, and you let out a deep sigh. Maybe of relief, or maybe not. But either way you weren't as stressed as you were a minute ago as you looked out towards the window and watched the snow fall outside, even when Josh joined at your side to lean against it himself.
"...You didn't answer my question, you know."
"You haven't answered plenty of mine, so maybe you should cool it, cowboy." You brushed him off not to be a bitch, even though you had every right to. Rather…there was something else that you hadn't quite accepted, even though it sat at the back of your mind day after day. It had been something that you once thought about daily, wondering when and where would be the perfect time to reveal it–but after everything with Hannah and Beth, you locked those feelings deep, deep inside so as to not complicate things for your grieving friend.
"Fair, fair. But…I really need to know. Do you like me?"
The fact that he just breezed right over your answer was not only irritating, but it was something you so rarely saw him do that you knew he was genuinely serious.
"Josh, I really don't want to be having this conversation right now."
A few moments of silence passed between you. You naively wondered whether that would really be the end of the conversation once and for all. If maybe he was finally pushed enough to just let it go.
"Well, if you didn't, I would’ve expected you to just say 'no'."
Your fingers curled around the banister and you gripped it tightly in frustration, before turning to face him completely with the words already spilling off your lips.
"What does it matter, Josh? Do you really expect me to pour my heart out to you right now? I'm tired, and I'm cold, and-" And before you could finish, Josh moved in and hugged you tightly, squeezing you hard enough to keep you close but not quite enough to hurt. His hands fell to rest on your lower back but not an inch lower, his unexpectedly full arms holding you like you'd been locked into place against his chest. He had always been a bear hug kind of guy, but it had been a long while since he'd given you one.
"I'll keep you warm." He whispered, and while you expected his voyeuristic self to snicker and cop a feel while he had the opportunity, but that moment never came. He just kept holding you, swaying a little bit, and you listened to the snow and the breeze outside the window until he finally pried himself off of your very inviting body.
"Did…you seriously expect me to just fall into your arms after all that?" You asked, a soft scoff inlaid between your words to try and sell it, but no matter how hard you would try you wouldn't be able to brush that off. As much as you wanted to pretend you could keep holding Josh at arm's length, it wasn't going to last forever at this rate. The man himself just shrugged, a faraway look in his eyes even with the newfound space between you.
"That's what they do in movies."
What a naïve answer, and yet so quintessentially Josh. You rolled your eyes in jest, and yet as you crossed your arms over your chest you knew your friend was looking places he shouldn't. But you weren't going to stop him this time.
"If you liked me, then you should have just told me. You've given Chris enough crap about that with Ashley, so you just look like a hypocrite now."
"It's different."
You gave him a look that just said "How?" without you having to say it, and Josh shrugged again, although this time he couldn't keep eye contact and just kind of looked everywhere but at you. Almost like he felt somebody was listening in, and he didn't want to be overheard.
"I couldn't tell whether you liked me or not. I was afraid you wouldn't, and I don't…want to lose someone else again. I can't lose someone else that I love. It would kill me."
"You love me?"
He scoffed in a way that sounded like disbelief, like even questioning him on his sincerity about this was a laughable offense. "Of course I do. How could I not? You're beautiful, and you're always sweet with me. You've never judged me. You're a kind person." He shook his head, finally able to clue in and meet your eyes this time–and maybe it was because you were smiling now, fear replaced by endearment as you let his compliments wash over you. Not that you knew about it, but Josh had always been a firm believer that you didn't get enough praise, and only now that you thought back on your friendship did you start to realize how often he alone was the one giving it to you when nobody else would. "And I love the way you laugh, and I think you look so cute when you're focused on something. I like hearing you talk, and, and…a million other things. You make me so happy, and you're not even mine."
"I could be yours." The words left your lips so fast you weren't given time to process them, to temper them as you usually did to make sure you were saying everything right. Your hand flew to your mouth on instinct, clearly shocked at your own outburst, but Josh just laughed and his hands drifted back up towards your hips for him to grab them a little more firmly.
"So you do like me back, huh?" Even another eye roll didn't stop him this time, you're pulled into another hug and Josh squeezed you even tighter than he did before. It often felt like he's the one always making up for lost time, which made sense considering all that had happened with Beth and Hannah. You were certain he wished for even a smidgen of more time with them, as would you if they were your sisters. As would anybody. You'd probably even kill for it if it came to that, and you wouldn't have been surprised if he would too. So in a way....it all made more sense.
Those grim thoughts didn't last long at all though–mostly because there was a more pressing matter at hand, which was coincidentally pressing right up against your thigh and only shifted when you piped up with Josh's name.
"Sorry." He pulled back enough to give you an inch of space, his nose a little darker to match his ears as he grinned the same way he did when he was getting up to something mischievous. "I like feeling you up against me…I'm lucky you've never noticed."
"What, you think I might've done something about it otherwise?....Maybe I would." Before he could answer that, you pulled away from his arms and sauntered off down the hall, clearly moving at a brisk pace towards the door of Josh's bedroom. This had not been in the cards for you an hour ago, but something stirred inside you that you just didn't feel the need to repress any longer. Your life had been a horror movie for too long now, but if it was going to be that way, then you could at least get some satisfaction out of it before you became the final girl. You stopped at the doorway, a hand on it to steady yourself, and you looked back in Josh's direction. "You coming?"
