I hope I got your OC Jonesy half right lol I have no idea how they would react in this scenario so I just went with my gut (⁠´⁠°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥⁠ω⁠°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥⁠｀⁠)

Anyways the scene:

Amelia put up a summer delivery service internship and jonesy decided to take it on since he has nothing to do in the summer and he wants to bring up his skills

Mob AU fun facts? Your characters (Specfially Grover) with Cherrys and Cloudys have such an interesting story

Oh my golly!!! Well, first of all, thank you. I’ll be using my neighborhood interactions format for this.

Marnie: Her vocal cords were entirely ripped out by Wally and have been preserved in his office. She is the replacement bartender and uses exclusively ASL to communicate. Marnie spends most of her time organizing the liquor and helping to manage funds. She was previously used as entertainment, but she kept trying to tell the police, so Wally had to fix her.

Grover: His Heart, the source of what makes Grover himself was removed as a test of loyalty to Wally, and its ashes are kept in his office. Grover is intimidation and torture with has the special task of feeding Vince’s crows bimonthly. He has one of the highest liquor tolerances of my characters in the Mob au. Grover has his own warehouse on the verge of the city, and is not allowed to go outside with express permission or an escort. He is often kept separated from the rest of the family and is left to his own devices.

Deirdre: Deirdre is not directly involved in the family, instead she is a member of the city council who has been blackmailed into exploiting her position to indirectly favor the family. She works most directly with Wally and Barnaby. It’s not been confirmed why she does this, though it’s been suspected that her hooves have been in someone else’s pockets.

Jonesy: Jonesy is now a vampire bat and his family runs a winery. He is being trained in diplomacy by his father, who has made a deal with the family. The deal between the Vampirebat family and the Darling family is simple, the winery will send 5 bottles of slightly aged wines (and a few made with blood) in exchange for free fertilizer for their vineyards and protection against attacks. Jonesy’s father plans to have him take over the company, and by extension, working with Wally as soon as possible. He’s only 11 years old.

Paulette: Paulette lost 3 of their 20 fingers due to outstanding debt to the Darling Family, and has since given up her study of astronomy in joining the family as a financial advisor. He mostly works alone and with Frank in the vaults and has a good head on their shoulders. Wally has preserved their fingers on a model of their hand in his office and plans to one day have the whole set.

Antoni: Antoni is a secondary intimidation and torturer along with Grover, whom he hates. He mostly deals in the finer things and acts like a true Italian gangster. His preferred weapon is the Tommy gun, and he’s arguably the best chef in the family. Antoni will go with Paulette to help negotiate with other gangs. While he lost nothing physically, he lost what was the most important thing to him. And he had to do it himself.

Minerva: Like Deirdre, Minerva is not directly involved in the family. She’s slightly older in this AU and lives alone in the city as a philanthropist. She owns an art gallery which acts as a holding space for any of her “charity cases”. Her nickname amongst the family is The Old Maid. Minerva uses a walking stick due to falling down a grand flight of stairs. She isn’t fully aware of what Wally does, but they will send a strong man or so to escort her to her parties and charity balls, so she won’t complain.

Doctor Topps: There’s a skull in Wally’s office, perfectly preserved.

There are a lot of pairings I don’t do often and I’m like… who are you how does this work?

Minerva and Howdy - I think Minerva gets on Howdy’s nerves. She’s very prim and proper and can learn how to let loose more, but she’s gradually learning that from Eddie. Whom Howdy also doesn’t like. I think Gentleworm is not a good duo. They will be very passive aggressive towards each other.

Antoni and Julie - Oh god no this would be chaos never let them in a room together they’d do bowling but with a real person on roller skates please don’t let Pastarcobaleno happen it would be TERRIFYING

Jonesy and Frank - A little kid and a proper man? We already know that Deirdre and Frank are good pals, but giving Jonesy another authority figure who has a garden? He may or may not get reprimanded for biting the tomatoes and maybe even eating a bug that Frank was studying. Safe to say, Fruitbug are not good friends.

Marnie and Sally - I think they only interact when Sally needs a musician to play in the pit. Marnie is suspicious of Sally because of how often Deirdre’s been writing stories about D and S names paired together. I think they don’t talk a lot, and it’s honestly for the best. No duo name here because I can’t think of one.

Paulette and Wally - Not bad actually! Wally listens and is interested in the pretty stars, he just doesn’t like staying up late. Wally ends up recreating Starry Night and Paulette is so happy. I actually think that’s their duo name… Starrynight is a fine choice in friends!

An Extended Neighborhood!

Oh, I’ve been busy today! Part of my personal work over the weekends is to draw one big thing per day. Today’s topic was: Neighborhood homes and phones! So we’ll be going in order!

Marnie’s house and phone are rather quaint. It’s gotten an update since its first appearance alongside Marnie. She’s very happy in her little cottage just down the road from Poppy and slightly out of the way from all the hustle and bustle.

The schoolhouse! This is the home to Deirdre and her students, including Jonesy! The school is on the bottom floor, with student dormitory on the second level. Deirdre resides on the third floor. She has a personal phone and a wall mounted phone so her students can call home if they need too. A perfect fit for Home’s favorite teacher!

Paulette’s observatory! A rather large main building that hosts plenty of comfy chairs and books and a small side room where Paulette does all their living. This wonderful star-studded building is rather isolated from the rest of the neighborhood, up in the hills to get better look at the stars. Paulette loves to make late night phone calls to all their favorite people to make sure they see the latest astrological event!

Minerva Mannerly’s Miniature Manor! This glorious house is built across the lake, giving it an almost enchanted feeling! Minerva loves to look out over Home from her tall windows. Her phone is rather elegant, painted in similar floral patterns that her dress and parasol have.

The Pizzario twins share a townhouse style split level with their respective shops on the bottom. Antoni has a small patio dining area and a large kitchen space, while Dandy chose to have a little plant box. The twins each have their own phone in their shop, Antoni’s looking like a pepperoni pizza while Dandy’s looks like a perfect saltwater taffy. They really do prefer to stick together!

Here’s a lineup of all the houses and phones put together. This took a while between all the architecture research and looking back at the WH website for inspiration and such. But I had a lot of fun drawing these today. Grover just doesn’t have an actual house outside of the Fence, but I didn’t want to draw that because it’s a fence. Today was for houses. Yeah! Lotta good stuff here.

Context: We got the first snow of the season where I live. Grover always leaves by the first snow. He usually says goodbye first, but this years was… different. He just left. We hope he remembered his scarf.

Fixed Mob Designs

Was feeling bored, and since the last time I drew the Mob AU Versions I’ve had two more kids so I thought “Well, guess we gotta put them in there”

So here they are! Closeups for the changes to each!

Marnie is still most a waitress and a bargaining chip. I added more defined muscles cause let’s be honest I love chubby but muscular women. She can handle herself pretty well in a fight. Her heels have knives in them so worse come to worse she will be stabbing them multiple times with a red heel.

Deirdre!! In the Mob AU she’s part of the city council. She has a big mess on her hooves that the mob is blackmailing her with. So she’s in trouble and the only way to keep things quiet is giving them the information they need to keep a thumb over the city. She’s still snooty, maybe a bit ruder. I love Councilwoman Dewmoore despite all the rumors that she’s been soliciting prostitutes and embezzling funds from the city.

Grover. Oh Grover, sweetie. Now we can see what happened to him. He’s been badly burnt on the face and his heart. When he met Wally originally, he was still himself. He’s such a trusting person, he showed his heart to Wally (he can take it out and still be fine as long as it goes back in a couple minutes). Wally saw this large scarecrow and knew he was family. So he did what anyone would have done; Wally stole Grover’s heart and burnt it to keep him bound to the family. He’s still intimidation, but he’s also the one you pick when you need a clean cut to any body parts. His sewing skills also come in handy more often.

Last but not least, It’s little Jonesy… Vampirebat. That’s right, suckers! In this AU Jonesy is a vampire bat! His parents made the choice to keep him home and educate him in the business of running a very popular winery. You get to make deals with important men. You even get to start taking over the company early! And of course, if your new business partner needs a place to give some drainage, you are vampire bats who own a winery. What could you do except teach your son the proper way to clean a body out and make new wines with them? I really like Jonesy’s mob au design! Doodles under the cut!

Two More Mobsters

Raising tensions requires a boost in the ranks.

With Paulette and Antoni, you can’t go wrong.

In the family, Paulette has found confidence and control in his life. She’s helping Frank manage finances and is frankly quite good at it. They also get out occasionally to be a Birds Eye view, and boy howdy is her aim good. Paulette finds purpose, and family, with Wally and the mob. Though his entrance into it was sketchy, it’s safe to say that Paulette is incredibly loyal to the Darling clan.

With Antoni, we find a simple man with rage issues taken for a ride. He now has nearly unlimited access to guns in an environment where his quick temper is rewarded. One would think that Antoni prosper in the mob, correct? Unfortunately for him, there’s a certain scarecrow who keeps fouling his chances. Antoni hates Grover even more in the mob, blaming him for Wally’s disdain towards the sea slug. But there’s not much he can do about that, now is there? Doodles under the cut!

Dear God please click for quality. But here we see a little bit of everyone! Polly frequently joins Wally on financial deals. He ended up in the mob on account of an outstanding balance with poor loans and gambling. If losing three of their fingers didn’t get the point across, joining the family definitely did.

Jonesy makes a friend in Ashton! (@ashchoo) Unfortunately, he has no experience in being a kid or playing with kids his age. So Ashton finds him rather off-putting.

Neighborhood Self Portraits

So I was thinking about how my kids would draw themselves, and thus!

Marnie is fine at drawing and probably has some old, but nice oil pastels she uses sometimes.

Grover is not good at drawing. He does stick figures. He always draws himself with the circle body though. He probably borrowed colored pencils from Penny or Jonesy.

Deirdre likes to draw herself on the board with chalk. She’s goofy, and her art is one of the only things she doesn’t care to organize or make perfect. It’s a nice coping mechanism for her.

Jonesy exclusively does crayon scribble. He has tried to get better and never will. So this is how his art will look! Forever! And he’s gotta accept that.

Paulette draws in pencil and sharpie! He gets self conscious about their fuzz so they never include it, and she isn’t good at drawing stars, so she does the flower shape for the tips of her antennae. If they were in the modern era, she’d 100% have the sailor moon art style.

Antoni, like most things he does in life, draws for fun and the mess of it. He starts with base shapes in Dandy’s nice markers and goes over it with a heavy pencil. I think his room probably has art supplies on the floor next to his skates and various games.

Minerva took portrait painting classes so she has a more painterly style. I took inspiration from Monet. She doesn’t think she draws good because she struggles with color differences.

Photoshop overlay layers who? Dr. Topps is Not good at drawing. He colors over images in textbooks with sharpie. He has a grand old time.

A New Neighbor Enters!

Paulette Pillar, cousin of Howdy Pillar on his Wooly Aunt Molly’s side, is a nervous astronomer taking a semi-permanent residence in Home while the best and most beautiful stars are visible! Paulette loves to learn and teach others about the stars and our world! Even though she can be a little bit nervous sometimes, Paulette Pillar has a lot of love behind them! In art of her, it’s seen that she’s taller than Howdy. Her puppet was rotated between a hand-held and a standing puppet to keep her in frame with her much shorter neighbors.

Okay, I just wanna say I made this OC to tease Cherry because they’re afraid of bugs but now I’m actually attached. So here’s some information that WHRP would NOT give you! Paulette, Paul, or Polly, uses all pronouns. They’re skilled in theremin playing and take lessons with Marine. He is TERRIBLE about getting on people’s roofs because ‘the view is better there’. Like. Honey, just ask. She and Howdy get along well cause they’re family and they love each other but damn do they not understand each other. Polly makes jokes that he’s an alien a lot. Damn. Okay, doodles!!

Click for quality babes! In summary though, Paul is good friends with Marnie, Deirdre, Jonesy, Howdy, and Poppy. She’s scared of Grover. Sally and Penny do NOT like him! They don’t know why and it makes her so sad. Just a gentle creechur… loves the stars and being alone but loves people… just a polite baby.. INCREDIBLY TALL. 9feet. What. Has a crush! On who? NOT TELING! Love Paul so much he’s so baby girl.

Like Father…

Every afternoon after his schooling, little Jonesy Fruitbat goes running to Howdy’s bugdega for his part time job! The caterpillars almost become like a second father to the excitable young bat! Isn’t that sweet? In exchange for his help around the shop, Howdy will give Jonesy a quarter and a strawberry pop!

I loved drawing this, but Howdy is a MENACE to get right! That’s why his lineart may be a bit sketchier. But wow wow wow! They’re besties. Love em! 1 doodle under the cut and it’s Jonesy AGAIN! Love my fluffy bat.
