Sonship Edification
As I find this subject tremendously B-O-R-I- N-G, I admit, I do not give it much time, as it is just another basket case caused by those who misinterpret scripture, the conclusion of which states not all members of the Body are joint-heirs with Christ, so if not all are joint-heirs, it then means some are – why? Because there are some who say not all Saints suffer with Christ – which assumption…

Wait I love that he so quickly dismissed “Old Testament gender roles” to focus on being joint heirs with Christ, every one of us.

"Theology of Suffering" is Catholic because it's Biblical.
"Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ on behalf of His body, which is the church." (Colossians 1:24)
"...to know Him and the power of His Resurrection and [the] sharing of His sufferings by being conformed to His death..." (Philippians 3:10)
"...and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if only we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him." (Romans 8:17)
This doesn't mean refusing care or alleviation of suffering (1 Timothy 5:23). This doesn't mean that inflicting suffering is justified (Ephesians 5:29, 1 Peter 3:9). It means graceful resignation to where God has placed us for as long as His providential care keeps us there (Romans 8:32, Phillipians 4:16, James 1:17).

OOH he’s kinda referencing one of my favorite scriptures: Romans 8:17
“And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together”
It’s so rare that we are compared directly to Christ and put on the same level as Him. We aren’t sub-heirs to Christ, we are joint-heirs with Him. Equal to Him in this sense. I think that’s so neat

Suffering is the Diet of the Lord's Family

by J.C. Ryle
“All the sons of God take part in suffering with Christ. What says the Scripture? ‘If children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if so be that we suffer with Him.’ (Rom. 8:17.) All the children of God have a cross to carry.
They have trials, troubles, and afflictions to go through for the Gospel’s sake. They have trials from the world,—trials from the flesh,—and trials from the devil. They have trials of feeling from relations and friends,—hard words, hard treatment, and hard judgment.
They have trials in the matter of character;—slander, misrepresentation, mockery, insinuation of false motives,—all these often rain thick upon them. They have trials in the matter of worldly interests.
They have often to choose whether they will please man and lose glory, or gain glory and offend man. They have trials from their own hearts. They have each generally their own thorn in the flesh,—their own home-devil, who is their worst foe. This is the experience of the sons of God.
Some of them suffer more, and some less. Some of them suffer in one way, and some in another. God measures out their portions like a wise physician, and cannot err. But never, I believe, was there one child of God who reached paradise without a cross.
Suffering is the diet of the Lord’s family. ‘Whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth.’—’If ye are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then ye are illegitimate children and not sons.’—’Through much tribulation we must enter the kingdom of God.’—’All that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.’ (Hebrews 12:6-8; Acts 14:22; 2 Timothy 3:12.)
Suffering is a part of the process by which the sons of God are sanctified. They are chastened to wean them from the world, and make them partakers of God’s holiness. The Captain of their salvation was ‘made perfect through suffering,’ and so are they. (Hebrews 2:10; Hebrews 12:10.)
Let us try to settle this down into our hearts also. The sons of God have all to bear a cross. A suffering Saviour generally has suffering disciples.
The Bridegroom was a man of sorrows. The Bride must not be a woman of pleasures and unacquainted with grief. Blessed are they that mourn! Let us not murmur at the cross. This also is a sign of sonship.”

Daily Meditations And Affirmations - November 14, 2024
We are the visible image of an invisible God. Because His image is on you -- your life belongs to Him. God is calling us to give our breath back to Him, to give our job to Him, to give our hands to Him, to give our feet to Him, give your mouth to Him -- that's why we have to open our mouth in praise. Challenge, convict and put a demand on people.
Challenge the antichrist spirit in the church.
People need to be weened off depending on a pastor -- take away your pacifier -- depending on the pastor to change your diaper. No room in the Inn for Jesus. There are other idols in the room of their heart. They hang out -- they "fellowship." When was the last time you discipled someone? Jesus says "you are denying me" -- do you hear the sound of the rooster. Prayer: Jesus, I need for you to fix my paralyzed condition. Lord turn my eyes away from worthless things. Why would I choose to eat at the table of this world when I have been invited to dine with the King?
Affirmations:
I AM GOD INSIDE-MINDED.
WHEN I WALK, GOD WALKS! HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST. GOD IS NOT A MILLION MILES AWAY. HE'S INSIDE ME RIGHT NOW. HE'S MY FATHER AND I'M HIS VERY OWN SON. I'M A JOINT HEIR WITH JESUS AND MY BODY IS THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
I AM WALKING IN THE LIGHT OF HEAVEN ITSELF.

If anyone be in Christ, he is a new creature, teaches the Apostle (II Cor. 15:17). This new creature a Christian becomes in baptism. From the font a man comes out not at all the way he went in. As light is to darkness, as life is to death, so is a baptized man opposed to one who is unbaptized. Conceived in iniquities and born in sin, a man before baptism bears in himself all the poison of sin, with all the weight of its consequences. he is in a condition of God's disfavour; he is by nature a child of wrath. he is ruined, disordered in himself with relation to his parts and powers, which are directed primarily towards the multiplication of sin. He is in subjection to the influence of satan, who acts in him with power by reason of the sin which dwells in him. As a result of all this, after death he is unfailingly the child of hell, where he must be tormented together with its prince and his helpers and servants.
Baptism delivers us from all these evils. It takes away the curse by the power of the Cross of Christ and returns the blessing. Those who are baptized are the children of God, as the Lord Himself has given them the right to be: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ (Rom. 8:17). The Kingdom of Heaven belongs to the baptized person already by virtue of his baptism. He is taken away from the dominion of satan, who now loses authority over him and the power to act arbitrarily in him. By entrance into the Church -- the house of refuge -- satan is denied access to the newly baptized one. he finds himself here as in a safe enclosure.

Joint-Heirs with Christ
This verse must be one of the most misunderstood verses in the Bible, apart from 2 Corinthians 5:19: Romans 8:17And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. What one needs to ask oneself is this: Do you as a believer suffer because of sickness, disease, ignorance, laziness, bad doctrine,…

26th May >> Mass Readings (USA)
Solemnity of The Most Holy Trinity
(Liturgical Colour: White. Year: B(II))
First Reading Deuteronomy 4:32–34, 39–40 The Lord is God in the heavens above and on earth below and there is no other.
Moses said to the people: “Ask now of the days of old, before your time, ever since God created man upon the earth; ask from one end of the sky to the other: Did anything so great ever happen before? Was it ever heard of? Did a people ever hear the voice of God speaking from the midst of fire, as you did, and live? Or did any god venture to go and take a nation for himself from the midst of another nation, by testings, by signs and wonders, by war, with strong hand and outstretched arm, and by great terrors, all of which the LORD, your God, did for you in Egypt before your very eyes? This is why you must now know, and fix in your heart, that the LORD is God in the heavens above and on earth below, and that there is no other. You must keep his statutes and commandments that I enjoin on you today, that you and your children after you may prosper, and that you may have long life on the land which the LORD, your God, is giving you forever.”
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm Psalm 33:4–5, 6, 9, 18–19, 20, 22
R/ Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own.
Upright is the word of the LORD, and all his works are trustworthy. He loves justice and right; of the kindness of the LORD the earth is full.
R/ Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own.
By the word of the LORD the heavens were made; by the breath of his mouth all their host. For he spoke, and it was made; he commanded, and it stood forth.
R/ Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own.
See, the eyes of the LORD are upon those who fear him, upon those who hope for his kindness, to deliver them from death and preserve them in spite of famine.
R/ Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own.
Our soul waits for the LORD, who is our help and our shield. May your kindness, O LORD, be upon us who have put our hope in you.
R/ Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own.
Second Reading Romans 8:14–17 You received a Spirit of adoption, through whom we cry, “Abba, Father!”.
Brothers and sisters: Those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received a Spirit of adoption, through whom we cry, “Abba, Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if only we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Gospel Acclamation cf. Revelation 1:8
Alleluia, alleluia. Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; to God who is, who was, and who is to come. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel Matthew 28:16–20 Baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them. When they all saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted. Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”
The Gospel of the Lord
R/ Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

The dimensions of God's love Part 2
The width, length, depth, and height of God's love Ephesians 3:18-19
Picking up from Part 1 in Ephesians 3:18 we see that there is a supernatural order of the dimensions of God’s love.
The Holy Spirit directs our attention as follows.
A. What is Breadth? We have some difficulty in seeing the breadth of God’s love to all men of every race and colour, every age from a foetus in the mother’s womb to a man on his death bed, embracing each one of these. In all time past, back to Adam and forward to Christ’s second advent. This breadth tells the Jewish believers of God’s love for the Gentiles and tells us now of His love for all the various parts of the body of Christ. In my Father’s house there are many mansions. God’s love is so broad it embraces His whole family beyond any man-made barriers. He is not a respecter of rank or position. His love is so broad it includes from the humblest to the most exalted of his people.
B. Length, this invites us to meditate on the eternal nature of God’s love. Christ loved us before we got born again. 1 John 4:19 tells us that we love him, because he first loved us and as his love knows no end, so it has no beginning and is from everlasting to everlasting. Jeremiah 31:3 Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love, therefore with loving kindness. I have drawn thee the Lord says this to each one of us. His drawing of us unto himself is the effect of his love. John 13:1 Jesus loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end. Romans 8:35-39 Nothing can separate us from God’s love. Are you catching a glimpse of its length?
C. Depth, another way to look at the depth of God’s love is to look back to where we came from, dying and on the way to eternal death. Each one of us can take a minute to meditate on how deep our Father’s love was to raise us up out of the pit of our sinful lives. We were children wrath by nature see Ephesians 2:1-6. Does this not speak to your heart of the Depth of our Father’s love?
D. Height, so far, we have seen the love of God has a boundless breadth, an endless length, a fathomless depth then surely its height is measureless? In trying to comprehend the height we may look to both our present privileges and our future promises as clearly identified in the word of God. 1 Samuel 2:8, Isaiah 56:5 Romans 8:16-17, 1 John 3:1, and Revelation 22:4-5,19 that we might know the love of Christ which passes knowledge by the Holy Spirit that you might be filled with all the fullness of God.
Did Paul get carried away with it here or was the Holy Spirit showing us the summit of the prayer?
Are we not heirs of the Father, joint heirs of Christ?
If we ask for bread, will he give us a stone or a snake instead of a fish?
This is the point; the word of God tells us that God wants us at filled with all His own fullness.
Our hearts and minds must constantly be occupied with the love of Christ to be prepared for the being filled with all his fullness.
Do you hunger and thirst for righteousness as in Matthew 5:6?
The Greek for ‘filled with all the fullness’ suggests a continuous process, a progressive and enlarging experience. As a vessel is filled to the brim the vessel then expands and the process continues thus our hearts will grow and take in more of him on an ongoing basis.
Suggestion: Let us agree not to pray any more weak and feeble prayers!
Pray for yourself and others in this manner.
Prayer Father God we bow our knees to you in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask that you grant us, according to your riches, that we might be strengthened with your mighty power in our inner man. We pray that Christ may be dwelling in our hearts by faith, and that we are becoming rooted and grounded in your divine love. We ask that we may be able to comprehend with all your saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height of your love, and to come to truly know your love which surpasses mere human knowledge, that we might be filled with the love of God as you are Lord.
Lord, we know you can do much more above all we can ask or even think because your power is at work in us, and we say.
Amen

Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you. Greet one another with an holy kiss. All the saints salute you. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen. - 2 Corinthians 13:11-14 KJV
This final Bible passage in 2 Corinthians, Paul's last letter before his death, is one of the clearest statements of the nature of God in the New Testament. It is one of the great mysteries of our faith and one that is a stumbling block to many. How can we even try to understand its meaning? Maybe it's not important to try and understand, but to reflect on its importance in our lives.
God is the Holy Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, a community of love. Paul states very clearly that there is one Lord, one faith, one Baptism, one God and Father of us all. He also lets us know that as Christians, there are distinct roles that each of us plays, but we are called to be one in love for all. We are one family, all calling God, Abba - Father; we are saved by the actions of the Son - Jesus Christ - who became one of us so that we could become God's adopted children and "joint heirs with Christ" and filled with the Holy Spirit, so that we may be eternally sealed for Heaven and also go forth and tell others of this great mystery.
The early Christians were well known for the love that they showed one another. I often try to imagine what the world would look like if all Christians came together in a single body of love as Jesus Christ prayed that we would be. What a difference we could make! Today is a great day to decide to become an example of the great Christian Community of Love that is the Trinity. In these mortal earthly forms, we will never be able to fully understand the mystery of the Trinity, but we do know that God is Love and that love was so great that He didn't just save us, He created us and gave us the ability to serve Him and to love Him and one another. May our love for Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ grow stronger everyday, so that we may be a beacon of His light and love as we do our duty to Him while on this Earth.
Thank Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ for His Holy Word and for sending His Holy Spirit so that we might have His grace, not only to awaken us and transform our hearts in our spiritual rebirth and guarantee our eternity with Him, but to also call upon Him whenever we are in need. Thank Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ for all the reminders of His love and mercy and faithfulness within His Holy Word. He is bigger than any challenge or circumstance in our lives. Knowing this within our minds and our hearts, nothing can deter our faith in Him and His Truth. May we all accept Him and His eternal gift of salvation and ask that He would transform our hearts and lives according to His will and ways. Thank Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ for His Holy Spirit who saves, seals and leads us. May we always thank Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ for His almighty power and saving grace. For He is our strength, and He alone is able to save us, forgive our sins and gift us eternal salvation and entry into His Kingdom of Heaven.
May we make sure that we give our hearts and lives to God and take time to seek and praise Him and share His Truth with the world daily. May the LORD our God and Father in Heaven help us to stay diligent and obedient and help us to guard our hearts in Him and His Holy Word daily. May He help us to remain faithful and full of excitement to do our duty to Him and for His glorious return and our reunion in Heaven as well as all that awaits us there. May we never forget to thank the LORD our God and our Creator and Father in Heaven for all this and everything He does and has done for us! May we never forget who He is, nor forget who we are in Christ and that God is always with us! What a mighty God we serve! What a Savior this is! What a wonderful Lord, God, Savior and King we have in Jesus Christ! What a loving Father we have found in Almighty God! What a wonderful God we serve! His will be done!
Thanks and glory be to God! Blessed be the name of the LORD! Hallelujah and Amen!

Romans 8:14-18 NRSV). “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption. When we cry, “Abba! Father!” it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ—if, in fact, we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory about to be revealed to us.”
