Sunday, September 15th, 1985
The warm September air engulfs your face, blowing through your hair as the familiar streets of Hawkins pass by. Sitting in the passenger seat, head leaning against the door frame, and Led Zeppelin playing on a cassette tape as your mom drives the route home. Your new, and old home. It still didn’t feel quite real that you were back here, not so soon, and not to stay. Though you weren’t born there, Hawkins has always been the place you think of when you hear ‘home’. It wasn’t just the town or the trailer you’d lived in, but the people here that you held the fondest memories of in your heart and formed the deepest bonds you’ve ever had with anyone.
You were born in Virginia, and lived there until you were 8 years old. Until Dad’s drinking led him to lose yet another job, leaving your mother at a loss for what to do. She was smart and skilled, but didn’t make nearly enough money to support the family at the time. Her sister, Aunt Patty, encouraged your family to move out to where she lived in Hawkins, Indiana. Maybe a big move and change of pace was just what your family needed, she suggested. So, the summer before the start of 4th grade in 1976, your family made the move to the Forest Hills Trailer Park in Hawkins, Indiana. Your uncle helped your dad get a job with him doing construction, while your mother managed to find a decent paying receptionist job.
Your home life wasn’t great. Your parent’s relationship was tumultuous at best, largely due to your father’s drinking problems. You and your mother at times were the best of friends, other times she made you feel like you were never good enough to meet her standards, whether it was with your weight, your grades, or how you dressed. Your school life had never been great either, and that didn’t change in Hawkins. You occasionally dealt with bullies that liked to make fat jokes, but it wasn’t all bad, you also formed some good, solid friendships too.
Meanwhile, the issues at home and with your parents’ marriage only intensified after the move. After 6 years in Hawkins, your mom had finally had enough of your dad’s bullshit, kicking him out and planning to divorce him. A couple days later, he landed in Jail for a DUI, his 3rd one to be specific. A week after that, 3 months into your 10th grade year in late 1982, a UHAUL was packed up with all your belongings, moving your mom and you back to Virginia to stay with family.
While the events of your home and school life were sometimes painful, you were grateful that they led you to seek out music for comfort and coping. Music is the love of your life, and what you always turn to when life and your thoughts feel like it’s just too much to bear. It started with the classics that your family raised you on, from Patsy Cline to Jimi Hendrix to Lynyrd Skynyrd to Johnny Cash. You loved all kinds of music, expanding your taste and catalog to a huge variety throughout the years, even beginning to work odd jobs in your early teens to fund your musical exploration. Music wasn’t just a way for you to escape, but became a way to express yourself as well. You learned how to play guitar and bass, and began songwriting as well as a means of emotional release and self-expression. It was the only thing that kept you sane through your life transitions, especially during the years living in Hawkins when problems at home intensified. Music, and him… Eddie Munson.
*Oh, all of my love, all of my love
Oh, all of my love to you…*
Your chest tightened as your thoughts inevitably went to him, how could they not? You tried your best to steer your mind away from him during the move back to Hawkins, but it was pointless. Eddie had been your best friend all those years you lived here, some of the hardest years of your life. Honestly, he was the best friend you’ve ever had. You liked to think you were the same for him, at least then. Your trailer was right across the street from Eddie’s Uncle Wayne’s trailer, Eddie oftentimes staying with Wayne for weeks or months at a time whenever Al Munson disappeared on a bender, some crime scheme, or his stints in jail. Though, you didn’t end up meeting Eddie until a few months after you moved and started 4th grade at Hawkins Elementary.
A soft smile creeps across your face as you remember 5th grade Eddie, coming to your rescue when you tripped in the hallway at school, other students standing around and laughing at you. Your 9 year old self was mortified, so embarrassed, until Eddie appeared and told them all where they could shove it, effectively clearing the halls of students and helping you up. From then on, anytime he was at Wayne’s you two would hang out; playing make believe in the woods next to the trailer park, Eddie teaching you how to play DnD, sharing books, music, and watching scary movies. You two bonded over your pain caused by your family and Hawkins’ residents who’d branded you as outcasts. You both harbored a lot of pain and anger, sharing a love for metal music as the perfect cathartic release for those emotions. You’d become so close over the years. You often missed him during the times you didn’t get to see him as much, like whenever his Dad returned home and he wasn’t at Wayne’s as much, or when he moved on to middle and high school, being a grade ahead of you. Your friendship remained strong during those times regardless.
But all of that is in the past. He was your best friend… though in your heart he still is, and always will be.
*I get a little bit lonely, just a little, just a little
Just a little bit lonely, just a little bit lonely*
You sigh as the song comes to an end and the sign for Forest Hills Trailer Park came into view. You hold your breath as your mother turns onto your road, Uncle Wayne’s trailer and yours coming into view. You don’t know why you feel anxious, Eddie would have graduated in ‘84, and likely gotten the hell out of Hawkins as soon as he could. Probably out in LA trying to make a name for himself in the music industry. You shook the thoughts from your head, noting the unfamiliar van in Wayne’s driveway as your mother pulled into your own across the street.
She sighs as she puts the car into park next to yours, a black ‘81 Chevy C10 truck that your father so generously gifted you upon hearing of your return to Hawkins. It’s the LEAST he could do. Your mother looked at you with a small smile, “Home sweet home”. You return her smile before both exiting her station wagon and begin unloading the last of your belongings. Your mom and you had already been back in Hawkins for a few days, staying with your Aunt Patty while coming to the trailer everyday to deep clean before moving back in. You could only assume your Dad had hit a rough patch when you heard he was being evicted from the trailer, missing a few rent payments. Around the same time back in Virginia as you were starting your senior year, your mom got laid off from her job. An old coworker from Hawkins then just so happened to tell her about an open position at her new job in Indianapolis, one that paid more than either of your Mom’s old jobs in Hawkins or Virginia. When she heard about your dad, it was decided, circumstances aligning perfectly. Upend your life and move back to Hawkins, again. You can’t say you were really upset about it, Hawkins has been home for you since that fateful day in 4th grade.
~
Eddie groaned in frustration. Searching his vest pockets, under his blanket, on any flat surface in his room for his goddamn cigarettes, patience quickly wearing thin. He huffed, looking along the floor of his room, around dirty and clean clothes thrown about until he saw the familiar package peeking out from under his bed. “There you areeee” a cheeky smile adorning his face as he grabbed it from the floor, swiftly removing a cigarette and putting it between his lips. He sat down on a chair he had propped next to the open window in his room as he lit the cigarette, taking a puff before looking out his window. Eyes landing on what appeared to be new neighbors moving into the trailer across the street. Your trailer. Wayne had told him about your dad, a small voice of hope in the back of his head wondered if you’d come back. A voice he’d quickly squashed. It’s been nearly 3 years since you’d left, and though he knew better than to think the thoughts of you would ever stop popping into his head, that certainly didn’t stop him from trying to keep them at bay.
Taking another puff from his cigarette, his attention was captured by the girl he saw across the street. Her back to him as she looks into the trunk of the station wagon in the driveway. He unashamedly lets his eyes take her in. Short, thick, curvy. Black shorts, cropped tank top, hair up in a messy bun. She didn’t look like most of the girls in Hawkins or in the magazines… and he liked, no, loved that. He couldn’t help but notice how much her body resembled yours, or atleast how he’d imagined it’d look now after the few years. He watched as she started to squat to lift a tv console out of the trunk. Being the gentleman his Uncle Wayne raised him to be, he was about to sprint over; introduce himself and help her, knowing how damn heavy those fuckers could be. Just as the thought passed his mind, she lifts it almost effortlessly, his eyes practically bulging from his head. He wasn’t expecting that to turn him on so much, but goddamn. He admires the thick arms and legs exerting that strength, unable to not notice the pronounced curve of her ass as she climbed the steps into the trailer.
Before he could pop a semi, a burning sensation on his thigh grabs his attention. The cherry from his cigarette falling into his lap as he drooled over his new neighbor like a virgin.
“Shit, Jesus H. Christ!” he grimaces, stomping out the cherry just as the telephone begins to ring. Groaning, he rose to his feet, nearly tripping over the clothes on his floor as he stomps down the hall.
“Yeah, what?” he answered unceremoniously, greeted by Jeff’s voice reminding Eddie to pick him up on his way to band practice at Gareth’s.
“Yeah yeah, I’m on my way” Eddie hung up the phone, dramatically exhaling as he turned back to his room to grab his sweetheart, and his van keys off the counter before leaving the trailer. He glanced across the street as he descended the porch steps, hoping to catch another glimpse of the new neighbor only to be disappointed as the trailer door was closed, with no one outside.
~
You sigh, dropping the last box of your belongings on your stripped bed, glancing around at your bare bedroom, deciding on where to start. You rummage through one of your boxes, finding your radio and setting it on your dresser. You press play on the cassette you’d titled Chill Mix #3, smiling as All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix began playing. You decide to start on the biggest feat, unpacking and putting away all your clothes. You let your mind focus on your task and the sound of the music as you move, singing along to each passing song. It was only a matter of time before thoughts and images of him slipped through the barrier, being back in the exact place that held so many memories of him and your friendship. It made your stomach turn and a lump form in your throat. You attempt to cough it away, forcing yourself to think of your other friends here in Hawkins you were excited to see again. The toothy, goofy smile of one of your youngster friends, Dustin Henderson popped into your head, effectively putting a smile on your face.
You’d known Dustin, Mike, Lucas, and Will for a couple years now. First meeting Will through his mother Joyce, who was good friends with your mom. It’d started sometime when you were in middle school, going over to Joyce’s to hang out with Jonathan and Will while your moms’ went out to shop and vent about their relationship issues. The other boys showing up a handful of those times turned into Dustin’s mom and Lucas’s parents asking you to babysit in the summer months, which often turned into babysitting all the boys at the same time.
The boys and Erica came to view you as an older sister figure, and them, your sometimes annoying but loveable younger siblings. The same quickly became true for the newer member of the party Max, over your visit to Hawkins this summer. Taking a liking to you as the ‘cool’ older girl the boys often spoke of and hung out with. Though you were flattered but dismissive of the ‘cool’ label, you learned quickly that like you, Max didn’t give a damn about societal ideals of ‘cool’ and what or who a young woman should be. They were freshman this year at Hawkins High, one of the few positives you looked forward to starting your senior year here.
As you move on to hanging up your posters and decorations, you think about your other, newer friends, Steve and Robin. To be fair, Robin wasn’t exactly a new friend, you’d met her in school when previously living in Hawkins, but were never more than casual, friendly acquaintances. Steve, on the other hand, you never expected to become friends with before this past summer. You’d visited Hawkins every summer since you’d moved back to Virginia; staying with your Aunt Patty, babysitting, spending time with the kids, your cousins and your Dad.
When you came to visit this summer in May, you’d picked up a job working at Scoops Ahoy with Robin and Steve. Your once casual friendship with Robin blossomed into a close one, both taking pleasure in teasing Steve day after day, watching him fail in his attempts to pick up girls after his break-up with Nancy and declining position in the social hierarchy of Hawkins. You were surprised to witness the change in Steve’s character from the Steve you knew of through middle and early high school, into someone actually likable. When Robin confessed her sexual identity to you two, it marked a milestone in you three’s friendship, along with the events of the mall fire that happened soon after. You three were nearly inseparable for the remainder of the summer after, until August rolled around and it was time for you to go back to Virginia. Robin was the first friend you called when you learned about your return back to Hawkins. Thrilled to go through her Senior year with you, considering Steve graduated this past May.
A few hours after you’d started and the sky now dark outside, you sigh loudly laying back on your bed as you finally finished putting away and organizing all your belongings. Looking around your room, you feel a wave of comfort hit you. Your room has always been your safe space, and it just feels… looks so right here in this room, compared to your room of the past 3 years in Virginia. Even with all the new decorations and posters you’d acquired since you last lived in this room years ago. You feel a sense of hope overtake your thoughts. Maybe this year things will finally work out and go right for you, feel right for you, for the first time in years. You let those thoughts linger as you walk out into the kitchen, deciding to make a sandwich for dinner. Feeling the exhaustion from the last week of moving weigh on your body, you kiss your mother goodnight, and take a relaxing shower before crawling into bed. You let the songs playing on the local ‘soft rock’ radio station lull you as exhaustion overtakes you. As you fall asleep, you cling onto that hopeful, comforting feeling before your first day back at Hawkins High tomorrow.

nct 127 ! being domestic
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
contents: nct 127 members x gn!reader, fluff, slice of life, established relationship, non idol au, use of pet names (babe, darling)
warnings: mentions of food (taeil and taeyong)
a/n: i've been thinking A LOT about johnny and mark and this kind of stuff so... yeah
Tumblr media
⠀ ⠀⠀
johnny
even if people don't believe him, he's 6ft tall, so obviously he can reach every high place in the house. he enjoys seeing you trying to get things from the highest shelves but when you decide to give up and look for him, without saying a word he gets up and helps you getting what you wanted. he then feels his chest filled with this warm feeling he can’t explain, he just loves to help you, be there for you when you need him. he usually stays in the kitchen while you’re cooking, even if you told him to rest, just to get things for you.
“johnny…” he looked up from his phone and immediately went to take the bowl you needed.
“there you go, babe”
⠀ ⠀⠀
taeyong
taeyong appreciates every second he spends with you but late night talking is definitely his favorite thing to do with you. some days, he takes some snacks and drinks sneakily from the kitchen before going back to his room, where you are waiting for him with a smile. however, most of the time it’s just you and him hugging each other or simply lying next to each other while you talk about whatever crosses your mind.
“did you know that there was a greek stuttering orator? he’d practice hard every day to be able to speak in public without stuttering.”
“stop, y/n, i’m gonna get emotional”
⠀ ⠀⠀
yuta
on lazy days when neither of you have enough energy to do anything, he asks you to spend the day in bed. you accept without a doubt. y’all just cuddle for a while, maybe he takes a little nap while you’re on your phone. but his favorite part is lying down on your tummy and having your hands playing with his hair. he LOVES the feeling of your fingers massaging his scalp, gently twisting each hair strand. eventually he falls asleep to your slow breathing as the only background noise and once he wakes up he’s all clingy and lovely.
“did i already told you how much i love you?”
“you did, yuta, and i love you too. so much”
“i love you more, darling”
⠀ ⠀⠀
doyoung
activities with doyoung are always aesthetically pleasant, so cute coffee dates at home with homemade coffee are something usual now. he takes his time making your coffee look great so you can take pictures to remember this sweet moments with him when you’re away. after having your cups ready y’all just cuddle on the couch covered in cozy blankets and watch a movie or talk about nothing in particular.
“you said you wanted to try caramel macchiato so i tried to make it. if it tastes bad i can give you my cup”
“thank you so much, doyoung”
⠀ ⠀⠀
jaehyun
this man’s music taste is immaculate. you usually spend your lazy time together listening to music together while cuddling on his bed. you’re lying on top of him, your head resting on his chest as you listen to his calm heartbeat and flash by cigarettes after sex at the background. with his hands stroking your back slowly up and down you start dozing off, his arms secured around you.
“sleep tight, y/n” you hear him whisper over the music before finally falling asleep.
⠀ ⠀⠀
jungwoo
he’s kinda a clean freak so you try to keep things neat. however, he doesn’t mind if you leave the living room or bathroom messy cause he prefers cleaning together on weekends since he has lots of fun spending time with you, no matter what y’all are doing. if you’re tiding your shared bedroom he’s going to try on every piece of clothing he finds. sooner or later, your cleaning session becomes a fashion runway.
“check this hoodie, y/n!! do i look good?”
“you look amazing!!”
⠀ ⠀⠀
mark
messy hair mark, wearing his glasses and pajamas should be illegal cause he’s going to be the death of me. when he’s not busy he likes to spend his mornings with you, especially playing the guitar for you. you’re both sitting on his bed, he just plays some accords until you decide what song you want him to play. it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t know that particular song, he’d learn it for you. and when he starts singing ever so softly… i’m combusting
“i just wanna live in this moment forever…”
⠀ ⠀⠀
haechan
when he’s free from work he spends his time playing video games. but there’s something about playing mario kart with you that feels different. it may sound stupid, but competing with you or making silly bets like “the loser has to give the winner a kiss” is something really intimate and special for him. he usually is very competitive, but this time he doesn’t mind losing, having you by his side is already a win.
“if you win the tournament i’ll do everything you ask me for a week”
“and if i lose?” you raised an eyebrow.
“you have to love me forever”

Did you get mysterious messages? ~🎵
MYSTIC MESSENGER MUSIC HEADCANONS :D (RFA + V, Rika, Vanderwood)
Jihyun / V
I think V would love Mitski. Just imagining him painting while my love, mine All mine plays in the background is so sweet. I also think he'd like cavetown, clario, Adrianne Lenker, Liane Flores and Tears For Fears. He often listens to it as background noise when painting or photographing but I also believe he'd practice singing using certain songs (and maybe sing you to sleep HSHSHS)
Jumin
Jumin gives me trouble because I feel like he listens to music for lyrics or lack thereof rather than sound. He listens to blues, jazz, classical and maybe a soft rock love song here and there. If he listens to a song with lyrics, he'll study them. He doesn't really listen to music often but when he does, it's often used as background noise rather than him genuinely indulging.
707 / Saeyoung / Luciel
I think he'd listen to mostly everything but especially synth wave, pop, new wave, rap, noise and glam rock for some reason. I could see him vibing to Depeche Mode one moment and then Fetty Wap the next. He would definitely unironically listen to wannabe by the spice girls LMAO. Also probably really likes tv show intros like iCarly theme or something. AND DISCO!! Seven dancing to bee gees when!?!?
Yoosung
To get rid of the obvious he'd listen to video game osts, pixel (I think that's what the genre is called?) and probably, here me out, pop punk. Or like Falling in Reverse. I think his favourite band would be the All American Rejects but I can also see him liking old demi lavato or Camilla cabello. Both basic white girl music and then randomly pop punk mixed in. As for gaming soundtracks I think he'd really like the undertale ost and probably listens to music through gacha life amv 😔
Zen / Hyun
I FEEL LIKE HIS MUSIC TASTE WAS EXPLICITLY STATED BUT I DONT REMEMBER RAHH okay okay uhm- !! I can totally see him listening to Whitney Houston, Abba, The Cardigans, The Beatles etc for some reason but also he'd feel self conscious that his music taste is too "old" so he would throw in shit like Kendrick Lamar and Future to spice things up and he would never ever admit that his favourite song is Angeleyes by Abba.
Jaehee
Bubblegum Pop, Indie and Doo Wop!!! Mitski, Girl In Red, Kinneret, Princess Chelsea, The Chordettes and The Supremes are frequents of Jaehee's playlist! She only really listens to music on the plane or in the office though. It helps her relax and take her mind off the stress for a bit. I can imagine her learning piano and playing songs like Johnny Angel or Mr Sandman in her free time.
Rika
Rika likes Melanie Martinez and i refuse to argue. She would probably relate really hard to some of her music and overall loves the way it sounds. Can also see her liking Penelope Scott. On the other hand, i see her liking classical or just soft piano music. Color me Blue by Akane would also be a song i can see her liking.
Vanderwood
Metal, Glam Rock, Glam Metal, Dad Rock, 80s rock just. Yeah. You get the point. Metallica, Journey, Mötley Crüe, Guns n Roses, Van Halen, Cinderella, Def Leppord and Dokken !! His favourite bands. Just classic 80s/90s rock for ya. Absolutely goes to their concerts religiously. Probably plays electric guitar as well..he could perform his own concert tbf

Punk Rock 1F1
RANDOM FUCKING AU TO WRITE ABOUT WHILE WRITING OTHER SHIT mwHAHAH
I know this thought has been explored by so many people, so many wonderful writers, so many wonderful artists, but I wanna hit it with my own spunky side! :D
I want to thank @gomzdrawfr for helping with these deranged ramblings and thoughts and offering her taste on outfits, and lore dribbles, I absolutely would not have found stuff that clicked without her.
Now this post might seem a bit rambly, that's because it is me rambling a lot with idea's for a later date while I explain what I currently have.
~~~
Price is an old retired artist trying to recreate a past band with four new boys.
Ghost is a metal rock singer; his deep, growling voice and ability to scream are truly remarkable.
Soap- a pretty face and one for theater-like plays, he's the guitarist, a lead singer as well. Punk rock artist if you would with his mohawk.
Gaz has the prettiest face you've ever seen. He plays the drums because he's got the beat, and he provides background singing.
Roach- 2nd guitarist, more in the background, fans love him for his silent nature but his abilty to truly bring the group together. Sometimes price joins them on stage to, just for old times sake... his deepish voice and slow nature truly making the crowd go wild.
Laswell is their general manager or producer.
Raven, well she's their number one fan... and also the merch producer funny enough! (she's the reason why theirs so much Price merch around still)
__
How the band started out was from Ghost, Soap, Gaz, and Roach playing from pubs or bars if you would, they started out through that... And that's how Price and Laswell found out about them, they went to drinking one night for old times sake only to be met by these four... and I quote from Price: "These muppets do have some talent..." and the rest is history!
Price and Laswell approched the four young rock stars, giving them an offer, Gaz was the only one to really recognize Price... we'll get into why later.
They agreed to the offer and joined Price and Laswell at the farm Price owns after his retirement, and started on their path to becoming a popular rock punk band!
__
The band history:
johnny was a run away teen who met gaz, roach, and ghost a fellow bunch of mess ups who are trying to start up a band, they work hard together before price and laswell takes interest in them..
the reason why johnny is a run away, his parents are heavily catholic and found out he was gay and liked "the devils music" leading to heavy punishments until he ran away. Age during this time: 19-20 the youngest member
Ghost, well his father is a drunkard who abused him so he hides behind the mask to get away from that, he had his mother before she died from his fathers hands... his brother later over dosed from drugs after his wife and kid died to a car crash... ghost finds comfort in the rock music that helped block out his fathers screaming. Age during this time: 29 the oldest member.
Gaz, he has supportive parents who have always been there for him, he loved rock music since a young lad, looking up to price and other artist leading him on this path, meeting ghost and roach before they found soap... Age during this time: 25, second youngest
Roach, he was also from an abusive home, no one really cared about the kids, it wasn't always physical abuse, but the neglect and emotional abuse that lead him to be mostly mute, but playing the guitar lead him to find his voice along side his mates. Age during this time: 26 second oldest.
Price, he is an old retired rockstar from the band Smoke and Love. After his band was disbanded, breaking up due to an asshole who ruined their band (cough cough, shepherd, cough) he bought a farm and vanished from the musical scene. Laswell an old friend turned music producer still talks to him, as well as Nikolai his oldest and only bandmate left. Current Age: 47
Kate Laswell, she is a popular music producer who knows when someones going to be a hot take. Take it from being friends with one of Englands biggest bands since The beetles and Rolling stones. She's been friends with Price since before the start of his career, they use to be college friends after all! She moved here for college and hasn't left, its also how she met her wife! Current Age: 43
~(other characters to be added on a later post)~
Now that we've finished the lore, ages, backstories in some pace lets move onto the clothing.
Price-
Price, he (as Gomz said) gives leather feels in this rockstar place, and I can't help but agree from my previous thoughts! Leather fits him way better then what I had thought of originally!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And yes, Price did have long hair, and he still did at the start of PUNK 1F1... its just that.. well..
price: +honk snuuu old man nap+
cigar: WEEE
Gaz, Ghost, Soap, Roach: +Finding price on fire+ "PRICEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"
price: +sNORK-+ "HUH!?"
And thats how Price lost his long hair for a short buzz... they had to explain what had happened after merch sales went down... and after a new poster of Price looking sad at a 'no smokeing' sign showed up in the living room... (merch sales went up straight away after that)
I love how Gomz drew Price for this though, https://www.tumblr.com/gomzdrawfr/771081801989046272/hm-im-considering-it-retired-rock-star-price-turn?source=share
they really made this whole thought and idea process actually become something more then a one off thought.
Ghost-
Ghost still of course will have his skull mask on, it makes merch sales a lot better for some reason! (ART WILL BE PROVIDED IN A LATER POST, I JUST HAVEN'T GOTTEN TO REALLY DRAWING THEM THE BRAIN CELL HAS GONE TO WRITING AND NOT DRAWING!) Ghost is still dramatic in his blackened outfits of course, we love a theater kid vibe of course, but he's not the most dramatic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His mask isn't like fully taking up his face, its more like up on the nose area, meaning his lips and smiles can be seen...
And this is also done so his voice can be heard, and also so when he is up on stage he can make out with the others. (this will be explained and explored further in another post.)
When it comes to merch sales, Price may be first but Ghost and Soap are in a strong second-place stand. (idk maybe I'll make a voting poll to see what you all think)
Gaz-
Gaz is the most dramatic out of the bunch, the most fashionable and dashing member, he is the drummer in the back so to make up for it, he's the fashion boy.
Tumblr media
He has multiple different outfits, and each concert has him in a new outfit, compared to Soap, Ghost, Price, and Roach who have a set amount. People love it, the amount of merch, the posters, hell even the fucking calendars sell a bit better with his mass wears!
I'm giving gaz the love he needs >:[
(Art will be provided in a different post)
Roach-
Roach has goggles on as well as some antenna to go with his outfit, the fun part of this band is that each member has a completely different clothing vibe, different tune, but together it makes something amazing and different. Roach keeps in tune with some of the vibes, the vibes of having something skeleton themed with his outfit but its in his own touch just like everyone else. Roach has different names on the stage, from Bug, Roachy, HOLY SHIT ITS THE MUTE BOY, etc.
Tumblr media
(Art will be provided in a different post)
Soap-
Soap has so much going on, yet not so much as well, he's just amazing... I got some doodles of him for this which can describe him better then What I can now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's also the only one I got a draft doodle of currently as of this date.
Kate Laswell-
Her outfits from the game are so fucking perfect, I love that for her, so that's what she wears here as well.
Tumblr media
Other Character outfits coming at a later date...
All in all, this is all that I currently have for this, their will be more to come like random little bits of funny interaction between the band, them facing off against The Shadows and Kortac some rival bands... I have a lot planned for this, a lot of it is going to be written... But I will draw some bits.
Hello!!
Quick question. How do you think the keepers would react if Feral, Good Girl, and Shy Thing were found singing/humming around the room as they do their daily tasks?? Just vibing and humming their own little tune? *cough* songbird nickname? *cough* 👀
btw i love your writing sooo much, i’ve been on a binge the past 2 days-
A cute domestic ask! Love these (as if I don’t love all of them lol)
I think Simon would subtly get out his guitar and start playing along to whatever tune Feral was humming. If she gets fussy about it (because she may be ‘Big and Tough’ but she also gets embarrassed) he gently coaxes her into continuing, saying the house needs more music and he shouldn’t be disturbing her. She huffs but eventually picks up the tune again. He calls her his little magpie or shrike or raven. Smart, vicious little birds with a talent for mimicry.
Johnny has to press a hand to his mouth to avoid cooing over shy thing’s voice. It’s just a quiet hum at first, and over time evolves into her proper voice. She never sings loud or without other noise in the background, but he loves to hear it. It takes her a long time to notice him creeping around listening to her, but she’ll continue so long as he doesn’t look at her when she does it or comment that she has a lovely singing voice. “Bonnie bird” and “songbird” are two of his favorites to call her, along with “tweety” (though she swats at him for that one)
Price likes to wrap his arms around Good Girl while she sings to music on the radio or tv, feeling the vibrations of her voice through her body. He sways along with her, could genuinely fall asleep to the sound of her voice filling their home. He daydreams of her humming lullabies. His little canary.
Punk Rock Cool Kid Required Viewing Batch 1 The Punk Rock Movie Eraserhead Rock 'n' Roll High School
(I'm rewatching all the "required viewing" films of my alterna-teen years) Notes on these three films below the cut.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Punk Rock Movie (1978, dir. Don Letts)
For three months in 1977, The Roxy nightclub was created for the express purpose of booking punk bands, who could not play anywhere else in London. DJ Don Letts started filming bands onstage and backstage, on a super 8 camera. The result is The Punk Rock Movie, a pure documentary film (no narrative, no narration) of a fingersnap moment in time.
The bad news is that this film (to my knowledge) has never been remastered either visually or for sound. Its specific, super-8 look serves it well and I don't know that it needs to be sharpened, but the sound is pure garbage. There are a few snippets of people talking but my 50+ year-old ears cannot make it out, due to low quality and background noise (guitars, other voices. . .in other words, nightclub noises). It's not a huge loss since 97% of the film is music, but I did wonder what Siouxsie & the Banshees were joking about as they took pill after pill after pill, or what a cool girl with a Union Jack shaved and dyed into the crown of her head (in 1977? that would have been so difficult!) had to say, or the thoughts of those ripped-from-the-headlines Shop Girls Sacked For Being Punk.
The live bands do not fare much better, but it's punk rock. A few of the performances are electrifying, most are so-so. Personally, after the opening "White Riot" by the Clash, I might recommend a casual viewer skip through to the last 20 minutes of the film, where we get fantastic versions of "Carcass" by Siouxsie & the Banshees, and "Oh, Bondage! Up Yours!" by X-Ray Spex, followed by the only bit not filmed at The Roxy, a short set by the Sex Pistols on the first night Sid Vicious ever played live with them, at Screen on the Green.
Tumblr media
~*~*~Let's stop by Hyperbole Corner where I will assert the following: Johnny Rotten was the only real punk. Maybe it's his wild eyes, maybe it's his necktie. People later thought the Sex Pistols "selling out" represented the end of punk, but watch Johnny onstage and see if you don't agree with me. Hyperbole corner over.~*~*~
This film is not the most enjoyable to watch because of its low quality; even if you are an old punk and love punk music, it's kind of an endurance test. That said, if you are curious about the subculture, this is probably the purest, least polluted view of it; a person could learn a lot.
High- and lowlights include: Slaughter and the Dogs (inspiration for the Smiths), lingering shots of Johnny Thunders & the Heartbreakers shooting up heroin, Generation X (baby Billy Idol), someone cutting their torso with a razor about 50 times, The Slits (Ari Up was either autistic or had untreated ADHD or both; that girl was WILD), punk kids pogoing/slam dancing, cops dismantling and confiscating the window display at BOY boutique, Wayne (now Jayne) County and the Electric Chairs.
Definitely worth a watch if you want to see the real 1970s London punks, but probably not enjoyable for the casual viewer because of the quality (it's punk!).
Eraserhead (1977, dir. David Lynch)
Speaking of endurance tests, I'll confess up front I have zero intention of rewatching Eraserhead. I hated it then, I know I would hate it now, and it's one of those films I somehow have seen multiple times even though I hate it.
David Lynch is not for me--I looked through his entire filmography and did not find one movie of his I enjoyed--not even The Elephant Man, not even Twin Peaks. And I've seen a lot of his films! I just think surrealist films don't speak to me. Surrealist comedy, sure. Surrealist visual art, OK. But this is a No from me, dawg.
Tumblr media
People I knew always cringed and shivered about the Radiator Lady, but that incessant worm-baby crying. . .I know the film is purposely designed to be uncomfortable, but jumping jayzis on the cross, that noise is irritating. And now that I've parented colicky infants. . .definitely No Thank.
I was doing my damnedest to be a certified cool kid, but I don't think I even pretended to like Eraserhead in 1987. It's just not for me.
Rock 'n Roll High School (1979, dir. Alan Arkush)
1970s teen comedies are always going to be pretty much the same thing: kids trying to lose their virginity, warring cliques, a borderline fascist principal, and casual racism/sexism (PS, where are the brown people?). So there are a few things to forgive here: a ticket scalper dressed in full Native American headdress (get it? "scalper"?); two hall monitors who shriek "body search!" at teen girls who later emerge from the office with disheveled hair and clothing (but otherwise seem fine, maybe mildly annoyed). But really. . .it could be a lot worse. I've seen a lot worse! I found it interesting that nobody swears in the film--not even a hell or damn--and while nubile young (female) bodies are somewhat on display in gym uniforms with tight tank tops and no bras, no one even references any body parts. The girls in gym class are only there for themselves--there aren't boys around and the girls are just dancing and singing "Rock 'n' Roll High School"--it's cute! Even in scenes about teens trying to get laid no one says "tits". Overall the film is oddly kind of innocent.
The main plot is that a girl has written songs she wants to pass along to her favourite band, The Ramones. Let me tell you that PJ Soles as "I'm Riff Randell, and I'm a rock-n-roller!" is the most adorable, likable teen girl I've ever seen in ANY teen movie.
Tumblr media
She's zero-angst, bursting with confidence, witty, mischievous and not mean. . .this girl just wants to have fun! Riff somehow buys 100 tickets to a Ramones concert with $1000 she just happens to have (in 1979?! that's like a billion dollars now!), only to have them confiscated by the mean principal, Ms Togar. Zany antics and many, many Ramones songs/performances proliferate.
Tumblr media
Riff's clothes and hair are New Wave style that made my inner child so jealous. She has a good friend who's a nerd but also praised as the most desirable girl in school.
PJ Soles is also perhaps history's greatest actress, as she swoons and even gets a little sexed up over cute and dreamy teen idol Jooooeeeeey Ramooooone--then cut to a literal monster. 6'6" tall with terrible teeth and possible albinism, Joey was the least attractive Ramone (not that any of them were very good looking--gun to my head, Dee Dee). The scene of Joey serenading Riff in her teenage bedroom has to be seen to be believed. That poor girl. Guess it goes to show you that when a guy's in a band, there's magic that makes girls love him even when he looks like Joey Ramone (RIP).
Tumblr media
The Ramones concert the kids attend features an actual live performance by the Ramones. Unmatched energy, those fast/short/singable songs. . .Gabba Gabba Hey!
~*~*~Here in Hyperbole Corner we assert "Blitzkrieg Bop" is hands-down the greatest American punk song. We will not be taking questions at this time. Hey! Ho! Let's Go! Hyperbole Corner over.~*~*~
This movie has kids taking over the high school, every archetypal high school character (except a gay kid, or as I stated earlier, any brown ones), a food fight, the sexiest conversion van you have EVER. SEEN., and so much great music--mostly, but not all, by the Ramones. A fun watch if you look past the clunky stuff.
Lou Reed performing at Copenhagen in September 1973, as captured by Jan Persson.
"For that 1973 world tour, Reed had put together a fantastic and very energic band they were all from Detroit and they all knew their business. The concept of the tour was to deliver «Berlin» to an eager public. As Reed had been musically brought up in the Warhol’s factory, he had become a master of manipulation and he knew how to bring the hysteria element within his crew. Very high on diverse drugs, Reed silently enjoyed it when all his staff, manager, musicians, roadies and friends, fussed around his person. Andy Warhol had found out the lights concept by himself: «What is needed» suggested the Pope of Pop» is to borrow the light effect conceived by Albert Speer» for what will later be known as the «Hitlerian ceremonies»: White light spots, (whiter than white) and with a tremendous intensity all focussed on Lou Reed on an immense black background. And that’s what they did. The Tour started on September 17 at the Paris Olympia, with eleven European dates to follow. On stage, Lou Reed was wearing black leather. His face was a livid mask and he had an Afro. In Amsterdam, the bootlegers stroke, and realeased a Pirate album called «RocknRoll Animal» That made him laugh and «now here is a title for me» will he declare. Every nights, his big black Mercedes will take him to different venues, and every nights, he’ll arrive at the last moment. And his Roadies had to practically carry him up on stage where he had to stagger to reach the mike. The tour was a colossal success thanks particularly to his guitarists who had found a way to «metallize» his repertoire. His band was driven by an tremendous rhythm section: the drummer Pentti Gian played ocasionally with Steppenwolf, and the bassist Prakash John, had just resigned from Funkadelic to be replaced by Bootsy Collins. The lead guitarist Dick Wagner, had debuted with Frost, a band used to the Grande Ballroom. And so that’s why Steve Hunter was the perfect counterpart: a veritable virtuose who loved to put danger in his technique. Hunter, had once belonged to Detroit (behind Mitch Ryder) and already in the old days he used to cover the Velvet Underground «RocknRoll» on a rather hard mode, and that’s been the option adopted from the beginning to the end of that mythic tour. Every night the two guitarists will have guitar duels in front of eager crowds. Lou Reed was taking all kind of drugs, and his roadies will confess: he took everything coming his way: coke, speed, weed, valium and Johnny Walker Black Label and the roadies had to hide bottles for him into the amps. Rock critics will put it that way: «It’s been like a black mass into a Gothic Cathedral with Heroin as a God». jltambo.wordpress.com
OBX Rock Band AU (headcanon)
Tumblr media
Characters:
jj maybank, john b routledge, pope hayward, kiara carrera, sarah cameron
Word Count:
~700
A/N:
i have no idea if this has been done before but the idea came to me the other night in the shower lol. i’m in a band so you can guess what i loosely based this on
Tumblr media
JJ - Drums
is my opinion biased on this one? probably
my favorite band member and character
the one with the most problems
drinks a little too much,  stoner
personal life in shambles most of the time
once he found the drums as an outlet he dove into it, eventually becoming an intensely devoted musician
that drum set has seen some things
jj lets his anger out on that poor, innocent drum set
all the different pieces have had to be replaced so many times because he beats the living shit out of them
the one that got john b into rock music and the rest was history
he's not one of the chill drummers who just shows up and does their thing, this man is a show-off
so many tricks
long solos whenever the chance arises for one
flirts with the entire band
music genres: rock, grunge, alt, metal
bands/artists: Sex Pistols, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Nirvana, Guns N’ Roses, Def Leppard
John B - Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar
a no-brainer. this is practically canon
no i will not be hearing opposing opinions at this time
he's the frontman
the one most people's eyes are drawn to right away
controls the vibe in the room
him and jj put on a show
stoner
is naturally a gifted singer, but had a vocal coach for a little while to get some pointers
rhythm guitar because most rock songs need at least two guitars and he's played guitar since he was a kid just for fun
music genres: country, rock, alt, pop when jj isn't around
bands/artists: The Rolling Stones, Paramore, Fall Out Boy, Aerosmith, Taylor Swift, Johnny Cash
Pope - Lead Guitar/Band Manager
he's just there to vibe but also an incredibly skilled guitarist
the one that tries extremely hard to keep everyone on track, but can't because no one listens to him
also the one that found kiara and Sarah
he's classically trained, but he only did classical as a kid because that's what he thought the smart kids were supposed to do
he plays like Slash: relatively controlled body language, but his fingers fly back and forth on the frets
music nerd
everyone can tell he loves what he's doing
manager because who else would manage these fools?
music genres: rock, alt, indie rock
bands/artists: Falling in Reverse, Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys, Green Day, Hozier, The Killers, The 1975
Kiara - Bass
i will not be accepting arguments on this one
she 100% grew up on cello, but wanted to rebel against her parents as a teen and switched to rock but realized she fucked with it
this girl is hot as all hell and knows it, but has nothing to prove
she's one of the more responsible members of the group but also super laid-back
stoner
effortlessly keeps everyone in check
she just wants to vibe and play some songs
flirts with the entire band
weird, hippie, earthy screams bass player
music genres: indie rock, r&b, pop punk, anything from the '60s and '70s
bands/artists: Janis Joplin, The Strokes, Young The Giant, Hozier, Paramore, Joan Jett, Whitney Houston
Sarah - Backup Vocals
she was definitely an attention seeker in her young years and would've hated backup, but now she's perfectly content chilling in the background with some killer harmonies
she has a few songs she leads in the set when john b needs a rest
she absolutely KILLS them
but she loves playing with the melody and adding a harmony on something that you wouldn't expect
this girl has perfect pitch so harmonizing takes about 3% effort from her
if a song is too low for her or too high for john b, she transposes everything (perfect pitch and all)
she will. not. touch. an electric guitar with a 10-foot pole.
don't ask, i have no explanation for that one
on the occasion a song needs keys, she's the go-to
music genres: she's a retired theatre kid so she listens to just about everything under the sun except country
bands/artists: Taylor Swift, The Beatles, Queen, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Knicks, Amy Winehouse
my favorite fall albums
fall needs its own music. like there's a specific type of music that is the music that must be played during fall and personally i feel like if i am not listening to that music at any time during fall, i'm doing it a disservice. so here's what i listen to to satisfy that urge (in no particular order, i think):
Tumblr media
Peripheral Vision by Turnover
This is one of my most listened to, if not single most listened to, album of all time. It has gorgeous vocals and lyrics along with beautifully effected guitars that just hit you right in your core. I really like shoegaze and i feel like this album was my introduction to that genre, but i feel like it still has something over everything else in that sphere. The vocals and drums are clean and crisp, and you can feel everything so distinctly without it being muffled in a cloud of lo-fi post-processing that a lot of other shoegaze albums employ. I honestly don't think I've ever found another album quite like it.
Favorite Songs:
Cutting My Fingers Off
Dizzy On the Countdown
Like Slow Disappearing
Tumblr media
Some Still Morning by Handsome Ghost
Personally, I feel like singer-songwriter or simple indie albums (which generally employ little more than a voice and a guitar, maybe a piano) are so hard to make interesting. This album, however, despite feeling similarly simple, really transports me to a different, more calmer and introspective, place. It really feels like a chat with a friend that you'd have while sitting up and watching the sunrise. The album does use simple guitar strumming or piano chords as the base for most of the songs, but also adds beautiful pads and/or background noises to most songs to fill out the sound, and every single song is beautiful. If you're wanting this kind of vibe, there is not a single skip on this album.
Vampires is also a fun little halloween song hehe
Favorite Songs:
Nightmare
Funeral
Massachusetts
Tumblr media
Floral Prince by Field Medic
This is one of the more recent albums that I've discovered on this list, but it is maybe the most distinctly-fall-vibey. Field Medic's voice is very raw on this album, and can be a turnoff for some people, but I personally really like it. The style of guitar and warm feel that exists in all the songs on this record really make you feel like you're cozied up on a swing, watching the leaves change. It also has a nice variety of feels between the songs - some are loud and energetic, like 'talkin johnny & june', and others are much more contemplative and intimate, like 'bundle of hyacinths'.
This is also not the only album of Field Medic's that I love - 'mood ring baby' and 'henna tattoo' from 'fade into the dawn' also have similar vibes and are beautiful songs.
Favorite Songs:
i want you so bad it hurts
bundle of hyacinths
-h-o-u-s-e-k-e-y-z-
Tumblr media
Always Repeating by Runnner
I think the thing I like the most about Runnner's music is the wide range of instrumentation. Besides guitar and piano to lay down the base of most songs, there's also choruses of woodwinds, frequent mandolin and banjo, harmonica, and strong harmonies in the vocals. This album honestly feels really similar to Floral Prince (to me, at least) in many ways, but is also really good at quickly switching vibes to make you feel alone or forgotten - i think it fits well as a late-fall-to-winter album in that way.
Favorite Songs:
Ur Name on a Grain of Rice
Monochrome
Trundle Bed
There are many other albums I'd love to go over here, but I don't know if I have that many more complicated descriptions in me, so let's just list some honorable mentions:
Quiet the Room by Skullcrusher (very calm indie, nice strings)
holy friend by dog eyes (like a hug from a friend, beautiful vocals and warmth)
Cannot Be, Whatsoever by Novo Amor (great instrumentation and lyrics)
Grip Your Fist, I'm Heaven Bound by Kingfisher (the most beautiful use of brass + raw, heaving vocals that I've ever heard)
I like talking about music, so maybe I'll do more of these posts in the future, who knows.
And if you want to reblog with your favorite fall albums in the tags (or wherever), I'd love to hear them :3
Ahh im so happy to find a blog that writes new vegas! I got into it recently and its so fun! Sometimes i get tired of hearing the radio especially if im travelling way too much, so i just start singing any song that pops into my head or talk to the companions like they're real pfft
im also way too cheery for my own good lmao, game devs knew what they were doing when there was no push button for running, you know how many times i ran into mines and kept running 🧍🏽
I kinda wanna know how the companions would react to that? A Courier who practically bounces as they walk and if its not the radio or them talking to fill the silence, its them singing as they shoot radscorpions !! Couriers not half bad at singing either! They mostly sing quietly while walking the mojave for obvious reasons but on a night they feel especially safe, they'll be singing so well people will wonder why they're not making holotapes for mr new vegas to play (esp if they say the radio gets annoying at times)im sorry this is long im just excited to see a new vegas writer that hasnt left their blog 🤧
I'm SO late to this one, I'm so sorry! But I'm so glad you're enjoying New Vegas! It's tied with Red Dead Redemption 2 as one of my favourite video games! And I'm exactly the same when I play New Vegas, the radio's never off and I have no spatial awareness. I hope this was worth the wait!! (Sorry again lmao)
//
Companions React to a Loud/Chatty Courier (Includes: Arcade, Boone, Cass, Lily, Raul and Veronica)
Arcade Gannon Admittedly, he's a little intimidated at first. He agrees to go with the Courier since there's no point in him sticking around Freeside where he's not helping anyone. He just doesn't realise he's taken up with the most obnoxious person in the West. He's not annoyed by any means, in fact, the singing is actually quite a nice change from the radio. The constant talking is a little overwhelming for him at first though, as someone whose trying his best to keep his past with the Enclave a secret. He knows the Courier means no harm, and he feels a little guilty having to shut down their questions about him, knowing that they only mean well. They do bring out a different side to him he didn't know he had and he sometimes finds himself humming along to either the radio or Six's singing.
Craig Boone At first, he's annoyed by the Courier, but it's not like he has anything better to do. They're his best chance at wiping out the Legion, even if their incessant talking and singing is a little too much for him. He doesn't have a problem with them, but he prefers silence to having to begrudgingly answer someone who talks at a million miles per hour. The only time he'll really voice his complaints is when he actually needs them to be quiet, such as if they're trying to stealthily take out enemies, thankfully the Courier seems to know when to turn off their radio and stop singing. Eventually, the constant chatter and the singing - that he'll never admit is actually enough to rival the radio songs - become background noise he learns to appreciate. He'll never join in with the Courier's singing, but he tries his best to answer their questions and respond to their comments.
Rose of Sharon Cassidy Cass is another one who can't stand the Courier's chatter and singing at first, however, she's more than willing to voice this. A few times, she actually hid the Courier's Pip-Boy while they slept, unfortunately for Cass, they'd already memorised all the lyrics to Johnny Guitar and sung that on repeat for most of the day. It was starting to reach the point where Cass was certain they were doing it on purpose. The singing she hated, but the talking? She didn't mind the talking. In fact, Cass actually looked forward to the talking, she often struggled to make friends, considering her problems with whiskey, so it was nice to just make conversation sometimes. Sure, she'd still keep trying to put an end to the singing, no matter how good it was, but the talking Cass could live with.
Lily Bowen The first time Lily started travelling with the Courier, she was thrilled. Everyone in Jacobstown took life a little too seriously and being with the Courier was a refreshing change for her. Unlike most of the other companions, Lily actually loves the singing and the talking. She'll even suggest that the Courier tries their hand at singing on the Strip, the Tops and the Atomic Wrangler are always looking for new acts after all. Lily will even try and sing along with them, before realising her voice doesn't exactly compliment or rival the Courier's, but so long as they encourage to join in, she always will. The talking is just as lovely for her, it's nice to know that the Courier still cares about their grandma, even if they are growing up so fast.
Raul Tejada Never in all his years of being alive has he met someone like the Courier. It was one thing that they managed to deal with Tabitha, but the fact that they did it with Radio New Vegas playing on full blast from their Pip-Boy? Raul wasn't sure whether to be impressed or absolutely terrified. He leans more towards the latter once he starts travelling with them, struggling to keep up with the Courier constantly asking him questions about where he's from and what his life was like before the war and how he turned ghoul. Like Arcade, Raul finds it overwhelming and eventually asks politely if the Courier can calm down a little with all the questions, thankful when they actually oblige. He learns to love the Courier in spite of their loud habits, even being happy to fix their Pip-Boy when it stops letting them connect to the radio stations. It's against his better judgement, but they seem grateful for it.
Veronica Santangelo She immediately bonds with the Courier over their love for Radio New Vegas. Veronica wishes she had her own Pip-Boy so she could listen to the radio in her own free time, since lugging a radio around the Mojave Desert doesn't seem like the best idea. She absolutely loves the Courier's singing too, insisting that they don't forget her once they make it big in some bar in New Reno. She also tries her best to be the Courier's backup singer when wandering the wasteland, however, she accidentally stumbles up on a lot of her lyrics and trying to pronounce "Agua Fria" at the start of Big Iron quickly becomes the bane of her existence. Veronica also loves to gossip with the Courier, about her love life - and the Courier's if they're willing to disclose it - and all her least favourite things about her commanding officers in the Brotherhood. Whenever she travels with Six, Veronica manages to get a lot of off her chest
Yeah I’m back again the Ghoap band Au (ft the band ghost) AGAIN because it’s 1am and I’m bored.
But you CANT TELL ME Johnny wouldn’t absolutely demolish the Respite of the spitalfields or any of his part’s solos because bro is THAT good, and maybe he does a little backup vocals for a few songs because bro just likes to flex, and the rest of 141 (especially Ghost) is just FLOORED.
But idk what he would sound like personally?? He has a deep voice but I personally think his vocals aren’t as deep as his speaking voice, maybe like the OG three days grace singer?? I’m not sure but I might figure it out.
And of course the 141 guys got barricade spots in the pit from on the stage, and I can just imagine Johnny going up to their spot in the pit and interact with them, with his silly little Ghoul helmet on his head with only his mouth visible (think the background Ghouls helmet styles like Swiss and Cumulus)
Also LOOK UP THE ENDING OF THE CONCERTS WHERE GHOST (the band duh) PLAYS RESPITE OF THE SPITALFIELDS LIVE THE GUITAR AND BACKUP SINGERS SOLOS THATS WHAT I THINK SOAP WOULD DO BRO DOES BOTH TO FLEX ON EVERYONE
do have any lore you’d like to share about your cyberpunk oc fives :o i love the design
Oh thank you! He’s pretty new so I don’t have too much that’s like deep lore, a lot of little things tho!
He’s a nomad background, he doesn’t remove his bakkers patch at the start of the game, he didn’t leave the Bakkers, he’s the only Bakker left
Jackie wants to be remembered, Fives just doesn’t want to be forgotten
He’s faster than he is strong and nicer than he is smart
He’s 6ft5in
He has a non cybernetic leg prosthetic, he had plans after Konpeki plaza to get a full replacement but then priorities shifted. He lost the bottom half of his leg in an accident when he was a child.
He doesn’t have the flashiest style, a lot of his clothes are black or white, but he likes to customize his wardrobe himself. His jacket is a lot of home made patches and painted elements. He likes the look of visible mending and will try to fix things before replacing them. His belt is an old seat belt from one of his cars. (A lot of his jacket details are nods to some of my favorite cyberpunk media)
The back of his jacket is The Five of Swords card
He plays the guitar and writes music, he doesn’t do this much once Johnny is around, he does still write some things down in a journal when he thinks they are particularly good so Johnny thinks he just writes poetry.
As far as conical endings go, he leaves night city with the Aldecaldos and spends his final days with them.
He wants to believe people, wants to trust them and sometimes he makes bad calls because he wants to believe the best in people, but with all that has happened, and Johnny chipping away at his brain, it’s just getting harder to do that
He hates being alone, so sure Johnnys killing him, but at least he’s always there.
10 black and white clips that don't need Coloring
Tumblr media
1. Subterranean Homesick Blues
Bob Dylan
The video clip for Subterranean Homesick Blues is considered one of the first video clips in the world. And since all the first things look natural according to custom, then this clip seems exactly like that. Young Bob Dylan casually and hurriedly goes through posters with selected words and phrases from the lyrics of the song on camera, which will become a common technique in the future, and in the background his colleagues – folk singer Bob Newvert and poet Allen Ginsberg - are talking about something of their own. In addition, there are intentional typos and puns on the posters, so instead of the correct spelling of the word ‘success’, ‘suckcess' is used. The video was shot in an alley near the Savoy Hotel in London, but there are also alternative versions, one was shot on the roof of the hotel, and the other in a park nearby
2. Every Breath You Take
The Police
MTV and VH1 TV channels, as well as Rolling Stone magazine, recognized the video clip for the song Every Breath You Take as one of the best video clips of all time. The Police, accompanied by a string section and a piano, perform the song in a darkened ballroom, while at the same time a man washes a window in the background. As a curiosity, Sting does not play the bass guitar, but the double bass, thereby emphasizing his significant figure
3. My Valentine
Paul McCartney
The fabulous ballad My Valentine found the perfect visual embodiment in a very simple and sensual black-and-white video clip starring Natalie Portman and Johnny Depp. In the video, they translate the lyrics of the song into sign language. Johnny Depp even plays a guitar solo, but in fact the track was recorded with the participation of Eric Clapton. Interestingly, the video was directed by Sir Paul McCartney himself, and the idea belonged to his daughter, Stella.
4. My Secret Place
Joni Mitchell & Peter Gabriel
The music video for Joni Mitchell and Peter Gabriel was shot by Anton Corbijn, known for his work with Depeche Mode and U2. Corbijn has always given music a vivid visual form, and this picture was no exception. The director managed to find the very secret place that Joni Mitchell tells Peter Gabriel about in the minimalistic scenery. Sitting at a table, they conduct their isolated dialogue from the world, and then go to look for paradise in a hut.
Into My Arms
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
The black-and-white and very contrasting video clip directed by Jonathan Glazer is full of the deepest human stories expressed in portrait photography, where in the dark the light draws wrinkles and tears on faces. Of course, the figure of Nick Cave himself comes to the fore, his monologue intended for everyone and a specific person. And although Nick Cave noted that the director's work causes depression, and should have caused melancholic optimism, nevertheless the picture formed into a single whole filled with meaning
6. Street Spirit (Fade Out)
Radiohead
The video clip for the song Street Spirit (Fade Out) was also shot by Jonathan Glazer, in many ways, he released a surreal picture in which the audience will have to find their meaning. Frame changes and strange gluing follow the lively and metaphorical lyrics of the song. Glazer created a separate city for the clip, in which the action unfolds against the background of trailers. And this city has its own well-established mechanism…
7. God Put a Smile upon Your Face
Coldplay
The bizarre video for the song God Put a Smile on Your Face draws a parallel with the radiohead video Just, so even in this field Coldplay cannot escape from annoying comparisons, but this is not accidental, since Jamie Travis became the director of both videos. The clip shows a vivid storyline: a businessman, played by British actor Paddy Considine, meets a barefoot stranger on the street. Soon after the fateful meeting, he is horrified to discover that he is beginning to disappear into thin air. According to the classics of the genre, the plot shots are mixed with staged ones, where Coldplay perform a song, and black in this space fits perfectly on white.
8. The Importance of Being Idle
Oasis
The video clip for Oasis' "greatest pop song" is presented in the purely English genre of kitchen sink drama, which was popular in the 1950s and 1960s, reflecting the everyday reality of that time. That's why director Dawn Shadfort decided to shoot the video in black and white to recreate a bygone era and stylize it as a film. In addition, it was based on the script of the British film "Billy the Liar", based on the novel of the same name. For the video, the popular Welsh actor Rhys Evans was invited to play the role of Billy, exhausted by everyday life, who works in a funeral home. Billy doesn't want to live a boring life, but wants to have fun and be at ease, he invents tall tales – and so, he becomes a participant in the funeral procession, moreover, its main and direct participant, since he himself is being buried. Shadfort's funny and hilarious interpretation will not make you bored, as the director has never been better able to combine music and text with a visual picture.
9. 3WW
alt-J
Director Alex Takax shot not a video clip for alt-J, but an exciting short film made in black and white and set in the landscape scenery of the Mexican city of Real de Cators. The video shows a funeral procession. Residents of the city are carrying a coffin containing the body of a young girl. At sunset, they are replaced by her lover, who then has to carry the coffin himself. A young man is faced with bad weather and unforeseen circumstances and dies. But only in another world does love resurrect everything.…
10. Back to Black
Amy Winehouse
It seems that the black-and-white clips are shot only for scenes with a funeral procession – this is the third video on a similar subject. But an exception can be made for Amy Winehouse, especially since the video clip does not bury a person, but the singer's heart. In addition, the black-and-white aesthetics perfectly match the words of the gloomy song and Amy herself, who through a storm of emotions expounds her drama about love and pours a handful of earth onto a miniature coffin. The video became prophetic for the singer; in 2011, Amy Winehouse died at the age of 27.
Complete unknown criticism rant v
Obviously the trailer is out and the movie isn’t even in theatres yet although I’d like to make my point about the movie as someone who enjoys studying things and forming opinions.
First of all, I must state that none of the actors look like the people they are portraying. You could state that the actors won’t ever look like those they are acting as but I’m very sure they at least need to take some consideration for that and make sure they look somewhat similar but it took me a few minutes to realise that the woman playing Joan Baez is supposed to be Joan Baez.
Also the actor for Johnny cash looks nothing like Johnny cash, you can stick a hair do on a guy and call him a name but it won’t work out unless you put a reasonable amount of effort into it.
Now I’m not a film major or anything of the sort, I don’t even take any film related subjects so my opinion simply does not matter however there are certainly some things I believe that should have been approved.
I remember when pictures for the movie was first released and one of them was the woman who’s playing Joan walking out a building. The way it was portrayed was genuinely so odd to me, they made her look like a newcomer as if she wasn’t on the scene before Bob. I feel as though they’ve kept that in the trailer, putting her as a background character or a sort of ‘damsel in distress’ that’s head over heels for the main character. Not to say Joan didn’t have that kind of look to Bob but the way they portrayed it was almost like simplifying a very complex relationship.
Another thing I pointed out was the way they seem to villainise Pete Seeger in the folk fest scene. I mean that’s a very common thing with news papers but if you’re making a biopic that’s not even creatively written at least stay on track. From the things I’ve read Pete Seeger was not upset at Bob playing ‘rock’ music, he wanted people to hear the lyrics but found the instrumental to be too loud so he wanted to cut the cord as none of the instruments were plugged in / set up correctly, not that he disliked bob’s electric guitar.
The way they made it seem in the trailer was that he hated it and yelled ‘turn it down’ now I must admit that I am aware they did something similar in I’m not there although that is a creative movie based around Bob Dylan, not a straightforward classic biopic.
The line ‘who wrote this’ ‘he did’ was genuinely so corny to me, it reminds me of all those awful biopics that are so off topic from the actual life of the person they are portraying. It literally brought me back to that Elvis parody biopic.
Overall the trailer is ok, it’s got its ups and downs, I wasn’t really even expecting woody Guthrie or Pete Seeger but yk it looks cheaply made and an excuse to add some famous names onto a movie.
As much as I may dislike it I will still be watching it simply because I am a big fan of Bob Dylan and have been for a long while but it will be very obvious as to who’s there for timothee and who’s there for bob.
Thank you for reading if you’ve got this far 🫡
+ Bob Dylan picture for the troubles
