One of my favorite pieces in my #garbagepailkids art collection. This is the pencil sketch for the last card of the 9th series (I also have the corresponding color rough). When Topps got sued, they were allowed to release the series that were already in progress before they had to change the characters. So series 9 ended up being the last series of the original iconic designs of the cards and characters. After that the characters were styled after hard plastic toys instead of soft plush toys. So this the last card in the 9th series, a poetic end to an era. Drawn by the legendary John Pound in 1987. #garbagepailkidsart #johnpound #basuritas #respecttheoldschool
