WANTED: Artists Willing To Take Commissions For Obscure and Small Fandoms/Ships
Okay... so, am I doing this?
I guess we’re doing this.
As I’ve mentioned before on my Tumblr, I can’t draw to save my life. I’m the living embodiment of “Hermione Can’t Draw” from A Very Potter Sequel.
But, I do love seeing other people’s fan art-- it just sucks that most of the fandoms I’m in are very small and/or obscure.
So, I’m looking for artists who would like to take commissions from me and indulge my ridiculousness.
Fandoms and ships that I’ll probably ask for pieces of:
The Frighteners (Frank/Lucy)
Family Ties (Alex/Ellen, Nick/Mallory, Steven/Elyse)
Back to the Future trilogy (Marty/Jennifer, Doc/Clara, George/Lorraine)
Newsies [musical ‘verse] (Jack/Katherine)
Who’s The Boss? (Tony/Angela)
Bright Lights, Big City (Jamie/Vicky)
Law & Order franchise (Nolan/Sam, Rollins/Carisi)
Spin City (Mike/Nikki)
The X-Files (Mulder/Scully)
Taxi (Alex/Elaine)
Danielle Steele’s Fine Things (Bernie/Liz)
Netherbeast Incorporated (Otto/Pearl)
Days of our Lives (Chad/Abigail, Bo/Hope, Ben/Ciara, John/Marlena, Jack/Jennifer, Steve/Kayla, Eli/Lani, Will/Sonny, E.J./Sami, Eric/Nicole)
Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman (Sully/Michaela)
Eloise at Christmastime (Bill/Rachel)
The Count of Monte Cristo [2002 ‘verse] (Edmond/Mercedes)
The Music Man [1962] (Harold/Marian, Tommy/Zaneeta)
Blue’s Clues (Steve/Miranda)
Here are a few examples of the kind of style(s) that I’m looking for (I can’t remember where I found these, but I loved them so much I downloaded them. All I remember is that they’re fan art of The Lizzie Bennett Chronicles):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Please DM me so we can work things out, and I can give you my first request. But please keep in mind... I don’t want it to get too expensive. I’m not being a cheapskate, it’s just that my family and I are trying to watch our money right now.

I love the idea of the soap opera medium, but I honestly don’t think I’d be strong enough for American soaps. I’m barely dealing with Emmerdale as the only one I watch
American soaps are insane, a true beast of their own.For example, this week was john and marlenas vows renwal and in just that plot we have1. Kristen returning to crash the wedding2. Sami shooting her mother3. Will regaining his memories and cheating on PaulAnd still to come we have4. Sami x Hope fight5. Brady x Kristen show down w/Paul falling out a window.66. Paul probably being paralyzed [probably temp]

Hello! I am here procrastinating from my readings, and I saw your ask meme thingy (do they still call it that?) and have a few I'd love to know! They are: B, G, I, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X and Y! Sorry for how many there are that I picked - I just got so curious...
B - A pairing–platonic, romantic or sexual–that you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind.
alex/lena. it didn’t ping at all until someone wrote a ficlet for it and i lost my gd mind with longing.
G - Have you ever had an OTP? If so, do you remember your first one? Who was in it?
have i ever?!? and very first in the sense of the emotion, but also it happens to be the first i ever read fic for: john and marlena on days of our lives. i’m the coolest.
I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?
tumblr has caused me to stop liking all fandoms.
K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?
DONNA MOSS, CHIEF OF STAFF TO FLOTUS.
L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves. (Characters you’re neutral about are fair game, as are characters you merely dislike. Characters that you absolutely loathe with the fire of ten thousand suns are exempt, as there is no point in giving yourself an aneurysm over a character that you hate.)
god i’m totally blanking on a character i hate, which is just hilarious. i’m like, uh, outside of his relationship with kara i kind of liked mon-el? is that even a controversial opinion at this point?
M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend.
charlotte wells has a pretty interesting definition of friendship.
N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).
more love for kara; more respect for the people involved in making the show, like say that owed to any human; more canon based fic
O - Choose a song at random. Which ship or character does it remind you of?
spotify spat up strange mercy by st vincent, a very lena luthor song if ever there was one.
P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).
do i have to? i don’t love AUs okay i’ve thought about it more since i answered this one earlier, and i definitely want a harlots modern AU where the bawdy houses are different reality tv shows.
Q - A fandom you’ve abandoned and why.
anything that’s not currently got my attention? i tend to be fairly single minded.
R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom?
LENA AND WINN. rip, that.
S - Show us an example of your personal headcanon (prompts optional but encouraged)
show us, you say? okay. lena luthor plays the cello:
Tumblr media
T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?
nah.
U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.
peggy olson, elizabeth jennings, president bartlet
V - Which character do you relate to most?
up to near the end of season 3, santana lopez until the day i die.
W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom.
high school AUs.
X - A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom.
FAKE DATING. BED SHARING. ROAD TRIPS. ALL THREE IN THE SAME FIC.
Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)?
wynonna earp (yeah i watch it, but i don’t keep up and i don’t do fandom), star wars? (same as we.) ummmmmm, i blacklist a lot of things i don’t care about so.

Its super common in soaps. In america for example on days one of the biggest triangles was Roman x Marlena x John because its immediate built in drama. Its so common i soaps there's a tv tropes page for it that outright says theres too many examples to list
Tumblr media
Well, let's be honest, Ross and Vic is equally unpleasant . I get that people are don't be transphobic, but couldn't they let Vic have another relationship with someone else? Outside the family. Personally, I equally dislike Robert sleeping with Chrissie and Bex. Maybe I'm just not a 'keep it in the family' kind of watcher. Each to their own.
i don’t even think that it’s the white sisters that are comparable in rob’s history, katie and andy seem more like it tbh
and tbqh i don’t like ross and vic, bc i can’t stand ross, but other than that i see no reason for ed not have gone there either
it’s a pretty common thing in soaps and definitely in emmerdale. hell even in the barton fam, i mean look at moira

Today in Soap Opera History (March 13)
On this date in...
1967: CBS aired the first color broadcast of The Guiding Light. The show still ran for 15 minutes a day at that time.
1984: On Days of our Lives, Roman and Marlena argued about her helping out with the investigation. Later, Roman, Bo (Peter Reckell) and Eugene (John de Lancie) fooled Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) into believing Roman was ready to give up after they realized the house was bugged.
2008: On As the World Turns, after Kit (Lauretta Vaughn, now Lauretta Nkwocha) shot Jack (Michael West), Carly (Maura West) fatally shot Kit, who confessed to killing Sam on her deathbed.

I agree with your stance on Horita. I know they are probably going to have Will torn and bounce between Horita/WilSon since both ships are popular and it keeps things interesting, but I hope the long game here is Will and Paul. I think they are doing a good job making them the next John/Marlena of their generation currently and I’d hate to see that dynamic and chemistry wasted by pairing Will with Sonny. Freddie is a mess. CM/CS are both pulling their weight atm with Horita.
tbh I look at like Sami x EJ as proof that you can move from one power couple to another and it works.
I totally understand why Will x Sonny means a lot to a lot of people and why they’d want it back on principle alone
[I personally stopped watching days by then so I didn’t have the attachment to them and found it easy to get behind Horita.]
But it just … As someone coming into days “fresh” and with an open mind to ship whatever the show presented Freddie is not enjoyable to watch act. It’s very stiff and shouty and often it feels like I’m watching him read from a cuecard. It doesn’t feel natural, not even with Chandler.
Maybe he was better back in the day? I’m not sure. But when you compare Sonny x Will scenes to Paul x Will I don’t really think it’s even truly comparable.
And I think a lot of the people still pushing for Will x Sonny aren’t doing it based on anything on screen but more nostalgia and love of an old ship. And that’s fine! That’s fair, everyone has otps
But even just acting aside and going by character sonnys been pretty awful to will and paul even before finding them shirtless together and I think it would do his character well to let him stretch his legs elsewhere plot wise.
But yes I think the trio give off a real john/marlena/roman vibe and I’m here for it.
Eventually Will and Sonny will get back together because Soaps but i do hope Paul and Will become the long term ship rather than the other way around.
