Games PB5 and AF35 played together in but also their injuries to really put in perspective how little they have truly played.

I bolded the games I thought were their best together and realized they never have played their best together truly. Like the one time Azzi was healthy and going off, Paige was recovering from knee injuries. Between the two of them, they probably had one healthy leg in those 17 games.

2021-2022

Paige coming back from right ankle surgery after being NPOY as a freshman.

Azzi came in with a foot injury from the World Cup after winning her third gold medal and it never really healed the entire season. She said later it was all about pain management but she was never really free. It really affected her movement and shooting.

11/14/2021 Arkansas: PB scored 34 at 78.9% and AF scored 7 at 42.9%

11/20/2021 Minnesota: PB scored 8 at 42.9% and AF scored 5 at 33.3%

11/21/2021 South Florida: PB scored 21 at 50% and AF scored 18 at 60% (the presser after is iconic haha)

11/22/2021 South Carolina: PB scored 19 at 42.1%. AF only played 10 minutes and didn't score.

12/1/21 - Azzi suffered a foot injury forced her out of the lineup for 11 games.

12/7/21 - Paige injured her left knee - tibial plateau fracture against Notre Dame and it kept her out of 19 games.

During that time while PB was on the bench (and all her fun reactions), Azzi played three games that I absolutely love rewatching and rank in her top 10: 2/6/22 Tennessee (her first start); 2/9/22 Villanova (note that UConn ended up losing this but I honestly rank this one of her best performances ever); 2/13/22 Marquette.

2/25/2022 St. John's (NY): PB scored 8 at 80% and AF scored 19 at 77.8% (there was so much joy because PB was back and this has a great presser afterwards)

2/27/2022 Providence: PB scored 2 FT but still made a big impact in limited time and AF scored 14 at 62.5%

3/5/2022 Georgetown: PB scored 16 at 66.7% and AF scored 11 at 30.8%

3/6/2022 Marquette: PB scored 2 at 25% and AF scored 4 at 11.1%

3/7/2022 Villanova: PB scored 2 at 25% but didn't play much in this game and AF scored 9 at 80%

3/19/2022 Mercer: PB scored 12 at 71.4% and AF scored 9 at 75%. Statistically great game for both but also early round of March Madness where they play like 20 minutes. So I suppose you can watch it for feels.

3/21/2022 UCF: PB scored 9 at 44.4% and AF scored 16 at 30.8%

3/26/2022 Indiana: PB scored 15 at 41.2% and AF scored 13 at 27.3%

3/28/2022 NC State: PB scored 27 at 66.7% and AF scored 19 at 43.8% --- AF helped get it to OT before PB finally took off. Probably their best game together but I don't know if their best overlapped completely during that game.

4/1/2022 Stanford: PB scored 14 at 53.8% and AF scored 8 at 25%. This game was not fun from what I can remember. I don't think I enjoyed it at all.

4/3/2022 South Carolina: PB scored 14 at 46.2% and AF scored 3 and 33.3% ---- Azzi had the stomach flu and only played 16 minutes. Between this and Dorka getting injured against NC State, I don't think this team really recovered.

2022-2023

Paige tore her left knee ACL on August 1, 2022.

After having a NPOY level November 2022, Azzi injured her knee on December 4, 2022 against Notre Dame  and was out of 9 games. She made her return in January 2023, only to reinjure the same knee on Jan. 15 and miss an additional 13 games. She never really recovered that level she had during November 2022.

I highly recommend watching the games in that month of November 2022 if you want to see Azzi Fudd play lights out basketball. And truthfully, I don't even think that was half her full potential. She was warming up to it in the first month of basketball.

2023-2024

11/8/2023 Dayton: PB scored 8 at 33.3% and AF scored 13 at 33.3%

11/12/2023 NC State: PB scored 27 at 61.1% and AF scored 9 at 30.8%

Azzi tore her ACL and meniscal tear in her right knee - second ACL tear for her. I actually think Azzi never really recovered her knee from the previous season and in the same way Paige came back too soon, Azzi did as well.

So now as we approach 2024-25, may the basketball gods bless us with potentially the best backcourt duo in the nation, because truthfully, we have never actually seen it at the college level. One thing I know is Azzi is a second half assassin (like statistically speaking). Looking forward to that the most. - 🔎

It was really interesting and a great read, but depressing af 💔.

We deserve to see them play for a full season, and more importantly, THEY deserve to play together for a complete season.

Dylan O’Brien Sets ‘Twinless’ With James Sweeney Directing & Starring; Republic Pictures Takes Global On Three Point Capital & David Permut Production

EXCLUSIVE: Dylan O’Brien is set to headline in James Sweeney‘s dark comedy Twinless, which the latter wrote and will also star in. Republic Pictures has taken global rights to the movie. Cameras are currently rolling on the movie in Portland, OR. O’Brien will executive produce.

The pic follows two young men who meet in a twin bereavement support group. An unlikely bromance develops between them. Twinless follow Sweeney’s directorial debut, Straight Up, which notched the filmmaker a Best First Screenplay nom at the 2021 Independent Spirit Awards.

Three Point Capital is financing the film with Ali Jazayeri, David Gendron and Liz Destro also serving as EPs.

Twinless is produced by Academy Award nominated producer David Permut and Permut Presentations (Hacksaw Ridge, Face/Off) whose most recent Netflix movie, Rustin, garnered Colman Domingo a Best Actor Oscar nomination.

Miky Lee (Parasite) Vice Chairwoman of CJ and who most recently executive produced the Oscar nominated film Past Lives, serves as EP.

Permut Presentations Director Of Development Alex Astrachan co-produces.

Permut said, “I was absolutely knocked out by James’ first film Straight Up and was determined to work with him. I immediately responded to the originality and provocative concept of Twinless. The dark comedy depicts complex characters in such an irreverent, emotional and hysterical way. The chemistry between Dylan, who portrays the role of identical twin brothers, opposite James’ character is absolutely combustible.”

O’Brien’s most recent film is the independent feature Ponyboi, in which he plays a villainous pimp and small-time drug dealer, recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. He will next be seen in the upcoming films SNL 1975 (from director Jason Reitman) as Dan Aykroyd, Caddo Lake (from the writing-directing team of Logan George and Celine Held, and producer M. Night Shyamalan), and Anniversary (a thriller co-starring Diane Lane, Kyle Chandler, Zoey Deutch and Phoebe Dynevor). The $1.7 billion grossing star is well-known to audiences from his work in The Maze Runner franchise, as well as the hit MTV series Teen Wolf.

Permut also recently produced the Paramount+ series hit, Lawman: Bass Reeves from Taylor Sheridan, which stars SAG nominee David Oyelowo. His upcoming high priority slate includes Being Heumann written and directed by Academy Award winner Sian Heder (CODA) at Apple, Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris’ (Little Miss Sunshine) film The Invite, and Face/Off II at Paramount, the sequel to Permut’s 1997 hit film, to be directed by Adam Wingard.

Cierra Chapman has been missing since December 27th, 2022. The 30-year-old woman was last seen after leaving her ex-boyfriend's apartment in Trotwood, Ohio. Cierra reportedly left the residence in her SRX silver Cadillac SUV and never returned to her own home. She has not been seen or heard from again.

Cierra was reported missing on December 29th, 2022. Her loved ones have maintained that she would not abruptly leave or stop contacting her family members - especially her one-year-old son. Fears for Cierra's safety escalated on January 6th, 2023, when her vehicle was found abandoned in Middletown, Ohio. Middletown is approximately 20 miles away from Trotwood and it is unclear if Cierra has any ties to the area.

According to police, Cierra's purse and other personal items were found inside her car. This raises even more red flags, as it is uncharacteristic of her to leave those items behind. Large searches for Cierra have been conducted, but unfortunately no further sign of her has been found.

Both investigators and Cierra's family members fear that foul play is involved in her disappearance. In fact, Maj. Brian Johns of the Dayton police told reporters that "[Cierra] didn’t go missing by accident. This was a very well-planned out, well-orchestrated incident, and people know. We know that they know, and they know that we know." This statement indicates that investigators may have a person of interest, but at this time, nobody has been publicly named.

The FBI is now involved in the search for Cierra. There is a monetary reward available for anyone with information that could lead to her whereabouts. If you have any information that could help the investigation, please submit a tip.

WF UPDATE (5/12/24).

Today is your lucky day! You’re on a new adventure with us!

About two months ago, we noticed that we had some “free time” in our May schedule. To fill that gap, we decided to do some biking in Ohio. I’m writing to you from Dayton, Ohio.

Why Ohio? I’ve always thought that Ohio gets a bad rap. Many folks, particularly folks from the northeastern United States, think Ohio is a rural backwater filled with hillbillies. John Denver didn’t help that situation. Take a break here and listen to his famous song: “Saturday Night in Toledo Ohio.” It’s a funny song.

In our previous travels, we’ve visited Cleveland and Cincinnati. We liked both places. We liked Ohio. We figured that it was worth another shot. It helped that Mrs. Bikingpartner found a web of biking trails in the Dayton area.

So far, you’ve missed the drive. We covered 624 miles. Can you guess how many states we hit from when we left South Carolina to when we entered Ohio? Amazingly, only three! The only intervening states are North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. Many folks think that Ohio is farther north and farther west. In reality, it’s just west of Pennsylvania.

Whenever we drive through West Virginia, it looks so pretty. As John Denver sang, it’s “Almost Heaven.” Over the years, we’ve visited some beautiful West Virginia parks. There’s a great Civil War park in a hiking/biking town called Harpers Ferry. Living in West Virginia isn’t so pretty. In various rankings, it always ranks poorly in terms of poverty, public education, and economic output. It’s near the bottom of every list, with Mississippi and Louisiana. West Virginia has a small population. With about 1,800,000 people, it ranks #39 in population. It’s hard to attract big corporate employers when the workforce is so small. Sadly, perhaps because of the tough living circumstances and the dim economic outlook, West Virginia is #1 on one list. For years, it has had the highest opioid overdose death rate in America. At the highway rest stop in West Virginia, the restrooms had a metal box on the wall (it looks like a first aid kit) designated “Opioid Overdose Emergency Kit.” You don’t see that every day. Next to the box, there’s big sign providing the website that patrons can visit to get a free kit mailed to their home. It’s wonderful that West Virginia is trying to attack the problem. It’s very sad that the problem exists.

Even though it’s right next to West Virginia, Ohio is a different world. It is the 7th most populous state in the country (11,800,000). It ranks #13 in K-12 public education. It has the 7th biggest state economy in America (behind CA, TX, NY, FL, IL, and PA). It’s not a backwater. It’s near the top of the heap. Are you surprised?

Dayton is in the southeast corner of Ohio. Mrs. Bookinglady has arranged for us to stay right off Main Street in a house that was built in 1835. It was renovated last year. It has two big living rooms, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a new kitchen. It’s an interesting place, and it’s less than a mile from a bike trail that’s 99 miles long. There are other bike trails too. It should be a good home base for our adventure. All of our biking will start at the house.

New Fiction 2023

I struggled with the idea that I need to keep up with everything new, when it's evident that I don't want to. Movies are easy thanks to subscription services like A-List (and a pathological need to get out of the house), but I was consistently happy to dwell in the past for reading and video games.

So I think I'll be more chill about fiction this year. Just follow what feels right.

What is the historical context behind the Wagner mercenary group's attempted mutiny in Rostov-on-Don?

Wagner finished its job and got out to make it easy for Zelensky to declare victory.

COMMENTARY:

I believe it was theater decided upon by Putin and the Wagner guy to de-escalate the de-Nazification program because it had completed the liquidation Putin had begun to plan in 2013. He had not intended to be as public as things have turned out, but the January 6 insurgency in Washington by the Nazification of the GOP forced his hand against his existential opponents in Russia, the Nazification Oligarchs associated with Bill Browder, Merrill Lynch and Trump’s 2013 staging of the Miss Universe Pageant.

Right now, Africa is Jomini’s Fourth Wall of the battle space. The gallop towards American hegemony led by John Bolton and the Project for the New American Century neo-cons of Bush/Cheney abrogated the authorities of the Dayton Accords that included the NATO-Russia Kosovo Protocols that were poised to occupy the moral vacuum of Africa ahead of China. The continuation of the Cold War positioning of Bush/Cheney were adopted uncritically by Hillary Clinton’s Russian narrative by Obama/Biden, Trump’s unilateral surrender to the Taliban was inexplicable at the time except for reelection optics. but the subsequent exposure of Trump’s treachery and treason revealed by January 6 destablalized something in Russia that ended up with Putin massing on the border with the Ukraine with the intent of de-Nazification of the Dun Bas and putting out that nasty little war as part of the Dayton Accords.

Well, McGovern Democrats like Biden and Hillary have had their heads up their collective assholes in terms of Clausewitz since Watergate and Biden dropped the ball when Putin massed on the boarder. The object of the exercise was to flow in UN Blue Helment Peace Keepers like in Bosnia and enforce a ceasefire, with Putin and NATO just over the horizon. Clinton and the French Foreign Legion UN Blue Helment Peace Makers in Bosnia should have shared a Nobel Peace Prize for putting out a nasty little genocide, but neither liberal or conservative Boomers have any more idea what Pentagon is actually capable of doing than the Pope has of genecology.

So, the Ukraine Incursion has turned out the way it has, but the liquidation of the Nazification elements in the Dun Bas on both sides have been largely completed. Good, bad or indifferent, Wagner is a pro-Putin para-military faction opposed to the Nazification Oligarchs generally associated with America commercial Fascism and January 6 Republicans.

The hope of the Kremlin from what I can discern is that Zelensky accept victory short of the objectives of his current offensive. Zelensky is at a Pork Chop Hill moment in the conduct of his valiant defense of Ukraine. where he needs to shut down lethal military operations and submit to international arbitration. The problem is, he needs America’s enthusiastic support with the UN Peace Keepers and Biden seems to be a bit tone deaf if the combination of Trump and Tommy Tuberville as a proxy for the January 6 Republicans who are committed to impeaching Biden at a moment identical to when Gingrich and Tom DeLay produced the impeachment of Clinton for getting a blow job in the Oval Office just at the moment Clinton really needed a free hand to prevent the genocide in Bosnia before it got started.

So, that’s what I think that’s what the whole Wagner drama represents. IT is essential to understand that Trump and the Kremlin have never had any shared interests with the exception of the creation of the US Space Force, which will complete the American transition from the Military Industrial Complex of the Manhattan Project to the Aerospace-Entrepreneurial Matrix of Apollo 11 and 2001: A Space Odyssey. This whole January 6 Nazification is so 1950s Ivy League Socialism of the John Birch Society.

Scopes Monkey Trial begins

July 10, 1925: In Dayton, Tennessee, the so-called Scopes Monkey Trial begins with John Thomas Scopes, a young high school science teacher, accused of teaching evolution in violation of a Tennessee state law.

The law, which had been passed in March, made it a misdemeanor punishable by fine to “teach any theory that denies the story of the Divine Creation of man as taught in the Bible, and to teach instead that man has descended from a lower order of animals.” With local businessman George Rappleyea, Scopes had conspired to get charged with this violation, and after his arrest the pair enlisted the aid of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) to organize a defense. Hearing of this coordinated attack on Christian fundamentalism, William Jennings Bryan, the three-time Democratic presidential candidate and a fundamentalist hero, volunteered to assist the prosecution. Soon after, the great attorney Clarence Darrow agreed to join the ACLU in the defense, and the stage was set for one of the most famous trials in U.S. history.

On July 10, the Monkey Trial got underway, and within a few days hordes of spectators and reporters had descended on Dayton as preachers set up revival tents along the city’s main street to keep the faithful stirred up. Inside the Rhea County Courthouse, the defense suffered early setbacks when Judge John Raulston ruled against their attempt to prove the law unconstitutional and then refused to end his practice of opening each day’s proceeding with prayer.

Outside, Dayton took on a carnival-like atmosphere as an exhibit featuring two chimpanzees and a supposed “missing link” opened in town, and vendors sold Bibles, toy monkeys, hot dogs, and lemonade. The missing link was in fact Jo Viens of Burlington, Vermont, a 51-year-old man who was of short stature and possessed a receding forehead and a protruding jaw. One of the chimpanzees—named Joe Mendi—wore a plaid suit, a brown fedora, and white spats, and entertained Dayton’s citizens by monkeying around on the courthouse lawn.

In the courtroom, Judge Raulston destroyed the defense’s strategy by ruling that expert scientific testimony on evolution was inadmissible–on the grounds that it was Scopes who was on trial, not the law he had violated. The next day, Raulston ordered the trial moved to the courthouse lawn, fearing that the weight of the crowd inside was in danger of collapsing the floor.

In front of several thousand spectators in the open air, Darrow changed his tactics and as his sole witness called Bryan in an attempt to discredit his literal interpretation of the Bible. In a searching examination, Bryan was subjected to severe ridicule and forced to make ignorant and contradictory statements to the amusement of the crowd. On July 21, in his closing speech, Darrow asked the jury to return a verdict of guilty in order that the case might be appealed. Under Tennessee law, Bryan was thereby denied the opportunity to deliver the closing speech he had been preparing for weeks. After eight minutes of deliberation, the jury returned with a guilty verdict, and Raulston ordered Scopes to pay a fine of $100, the minimum the law allowed. Although Bryan had won the case, he had been publicly humiliated and his fundamentalist beliefs had been disgraced. Five days later, on July 26, he lay down for a Sunday afternoon nap and never woke up.

In 1927, the Tennessee Supreme Court overturned the Monkey Trial verdict on a technicality but left the constitutional issues unresolved until 1968, when the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a similar Arkansas law on the grounds that it violated the First Amendment.
