AU where William Zarick still dies, but Joey and Denise live!

“Denise, wait,” Pat said before he could stop himself. He weighed the risk, and let it go. 

“No, I’m sorry. I really shouldn’t have said anything,” the widow moved to roll up the window. In the passenger seat, her cat miaowed.

“Is it about how your son really died?” Pat blurted

 She stared at him from the driver’s seat, the road forgotten. “What?”

“I was there. Technically. Kinda. Look, telling me whatever it was isn’t going to put me in any more danger than I’ve already got myself into, I think.”

“You know, then.” I wasn’t a question. “William always said it was in the root of this town. That’s why we moved here.”

“Why don’t you come inside?” Pat asked. “You can tell me…whatever it is you know.  I…don’t think I’ve got the best track record keeping people safe, but I’ll try.”

The car engine idled, and then Denise turned the key, shutting it off. Her steps were uneasy. Pat could feel the uncertainty of grief in her steps. he reached out an arm, an offer of support. She didn't take it. She sat heavily on the couch in the Pitstop, not caring about the grease stained rag draped over the back.

"I don't know much. William didn't want to tell me. He said it was better if I didn't worry. But I'm a politician's wife. Was. Widow. I-- it's what I've always done. Listened and worried. So I know, some.  Dr. King, he's in a coma, but he was in my house a few days ago.  William made him upset. And then Jordan..."

"Jordan?" Pat asked. He'd heard the name... but where?

"Jordan Mahkent. He runs the American Dream. He's part of this. I don't know how, but he is. Maybe he's in charge. The day Joey--that morning, he was waiting for William.   I don't know if it was a--a threat, or--but he knows. and I can't stay in this town with him here."

"Alright," Pat said, quiet. If Barb's boss was involved, that was it. No matter what Courtney said, the time for secrets was done.  They had to figure out a game plan that got everyone out of this alive. 

Everyone else, anyways. 

"Mrs...." he stopped. " Denise. Have you ever heard of the Injustice Society of America?" 

she blinked. "I've only lived in this small town for 7 years," she said. "I haven't had my head in the sand my whole life. but wh--" she stopped. " you don't think..."

"Dr. King is Brainwave. " Pat said, wondering if he was the one signing her death warrant and not the other way around. " and your husband... I'd have to say...."

"No. I.. know who he was. All his stage magic. None of it was stage tricks. I knew he'd... done things. I just thought it was over. That it was smaller."

"If it helps, he, uh, only tried to kill me once," Pat said. 

"I don't think it does."

"Right," Pat said, awkwardly. "look, we're... we're going to figure this out."

"we?" she asked. " the two of us? against...."

"well.my wife, once I tell her. And..." he pinched his lips in a sigh. "And the new JSA."

"They're... reforming?"

"You could say that." 

Denise nodded. "alright. I'll stay and help. but I want your word on something."

"Depends on what it is," Pat said, having been tricked three times too many by Mike in that way.

"When we find out who killed my family. I want to kill them." Any mousishness had melted away in that sentence. 

"If that's what it comes to," Pat said, hoping that it wouldn't, and thinking of the stain that have never come out of Sylvester's suit, not till the day Courtney had cut it to size.

Halfway across town, Beth Chapel looked around the basement room and beamed. "There we go. Litterbox, digbox, nest, toys, fresh water, pellets, and broccoli stems for a treat!" her eyes widened, and she dove for the floor, where the white rabbit she'd rescued from the bridge wreck was mauling one of the care books she'd checked out of the library. 

"Oh, no," she said, checking "The Complete Guide to Raising Healthy Rabbits" over. Toothmarks dented some of the title, and she winced at the uneven bumps under her fingers.  There had to be a chapter on how to keep the destruction to a minimum. Not that she worried her parents would notice or care that she'd adopted a bunny, but that she couldn't disappoint the town librarian like this. 

Carefully, she sat, waiting to see if the bunny might approach her. She knew better than to just pick it--him--up. 

He twitched his nose at her, then hopped to the food bowl, picked it up in his teeth, and sent it clattering.  Before she could scramble for the broom, she froze. 

The bunny wasn't kicking pellets everywhere for the sake out it, like she'd thought. One by one, he was carrying them into place.

My favorite relationship dynamics

You literally send me into a rabbit hole with that question. I've been researching relationship dynamics for the last few hours straight and I'm pretty sure I won't stop for the next hours or even days. It's just so much fun and now I really feel the urge to draw Alastor and Mara in as many fitting relationship dynamics as possible. I swear, the ideas are COOKING.

There are so many good dynamics what makes it even harder for me to answer your question because it feels impossible for me to reduce the list to just my top three... So, this response might get a little bit out of hands. But maybe it'll be a helpful inspiration for anyone who reads this!

So, one of my all time favorite tropes is "enemies to lovers". And there are so many possibilities to showcase this trope in different dynamics...

First off, there's the classic "enemies to lovers". Both hate each other or are on different sides but end up falling in love. Oh, the denial and slow burn is just chefs kiss. I just adore a well written push and pull between two characters who are supposedly enemies or rivals but secretly pine for each other.

But what about two characters who despise each other but accidentally end up in bed just to regret their actions the morning after? Ooooooh, the potential... The possibility of creating delicious second hand embarrassment and the possible banter between the character's following afterwards while they continue pretending as if nothing happened even though both of them get constantly haunted by the memory of sharing a night together... Just 😘👌🏻

Or imagine enemies who are ALSO lovers? Like hate-love relationship but take it LITERALLY.

Another category of ship dynamics I ADORE is "villainous couples". Both of them just want to watch the world burn; they're both murderers and horrible people but their relationship is all loving, caring and healthy and just all over wholesome. They're devoted to each other like Gomez and Morticia Addams and support each other's heinous plans. This is definitely a top tier dynamic, in my opinion.

Other villain ship dynamics I like are "evil genius x the supportive". Or "the tough ahh mastermind villain x their annoying simp". (I've thought about this dynamic so often and it sounds hilarious.)

Or what I'm also into (which is also a classic) is "villain x ex hero". Who cares about redeeming the villain when the hero can get corrupted...? Especially if the villain is in the right the whole time or if the villain just loves to create chaos but is still charismatic af. (Dude doesn't need to be changed. He's perfect the way he is 👌🏻)

"The person who doesn't believe in love but then falls in love with the hopeless romantic" will also have my heart forever! The denial, the mutual pining but not wanting to confess because they fear rejection or appearing weak (It's basically every good Alastor x OC/reader romance story I've read and I'm down bad for this trope.)

"Grumpy x Sunshine"? A classic. I like it. But what about "looks evil but is actually sweet x looks sweet but is actually a psychopath"?

Or "looks dangerous but is completely harmless x looks harmless but will actually kill you if you hurt their partner"?

"Big scary demon overlord x their little bean" is also so much fun to read and write. Or just imagine "big scary demon overlord x random dude":

Character A: "ł'₥ ₲ØⱤ₲Ø₮Ⱨ, ĐɆ₴₮ⱤØɎɆⱤ Ø₣ ₩ØⱤⱠĐ₴!!! And this is Steve."

Character B: *casually waves their hand*

Or just "the tough ahh stoic and intimidating character who has a huge soft spot for character B"... It's so cute in my opinion and I just love it when all grumpy melts around their partner... It makes them appear even more special to them...

I also like the idea of "tough and serious x silly and clumsy" (bonus points if they have ADHD).

I just really like polar opposites as a dynamic, especially if everyone else thinks they don't match but it actually works out perfectly for them! They're so much fun and can complement each other in ways that make stories so exciting...

Well, that was already a lot. But since I've already exaggerated this post I can also just round this off by adding a list of other ship dynamics I think are fun:

- autism x ADHD

- wide eyed and curious x the cool one that admires them

- character that get shipped with each other and both of them hate it/find it annoying

- chill tall one x angry short one

- traumatized x traumatized but smug

- two idiots with one brain cell (they share that single brain cell)

- scary eldritch horror x the one who thinks it's kinky (this just sounds so much fun... Imagine character A goes all scary and intimidating but B is just: "Damn, that's hot.")

And well, basically Gomez x Morticia. (I know I already mentioned it but that was in the "villain" context. They don't need to be evil. They're just a wholesome and happy couple that's completely devoted to each other until the end of time.)

Negative Sector V 2.0

Penelope: NEVER call her Penny or other stupid nicknames. She's a cold blooded kid who wants to bring the DNK back, or at least, she wants to help Wally rule the world. She will use Joey and Nigel to get close to the teen and enter his graces. Whether he wants it or not.

Simon: A coward, bone-less idiot who's afraid of his own shadow. He became Soopreme Leader just because everyone could give him a hard time and make fun of him, so he ended up quitting and they sent him to Sector V where he would have an even worse time.

Cole: Defines self as "manliest man alive". Hates all things girly, cute and cuddly. He's gonna rip to shreds any doll he finds. Someone might say he's insecure about something about himself, but not at all! He knows who he is... right?

Joey: A ball of rage and violence. Don't get close, he's gonna punch you if you try to talk to him. He's not gonna talk back anyway. He doesn't talk at all and no one can communicate with him but Penelope. He and Cole fight on a constant basis, they just can't stand each other. And NEVER talk about his brother if you want to go home alive!

Robbie: She's quiet, prefers to stay alone and never tries to go against anyone. She has a little rabbit plushie she adores, and she speaks through it most of the times "Mr. Rabbit thinks that---". It's a miracle Cole hasn't burnt it yet. But at least, she's good at doing whatever you ask her to do.

Hi Ziku, I'm the person who asked you the question about the mazercise in the VIP novel. First, thank you for responding to my random comment and second, don't worry, I like to see your opinion on these topics.

To give you context, the interactive VIP novel is released for the anniversary of the franchise and it is a canon novel since it happens long before the glamrocks were corrupted and it is the novel where as a glamrock chica fan I wanted to jump off a fifth floor since chica is given a little bit of prominence where the protagonist's little brother is a big fan of chica and I said at last chica will have a role in the boy by the way is called ikki because then I remembered that this is fnaf and that she will never have that honor that is why it was all chica she interacted very little with her fan besides that on top of that the mazercise did not even exist at that time and was never hers because originally that place belonged to monty (secondary character having the attraction of chica and mimi golf) and my heart ended up exploding to see that chica is genuinely the filler of the band overshadowed by roxy and freddy who in that novel does have a role in it again overshadowed by a murdered rabbit with too many fanboys and overshadowed by an alligator who hasn't earned things and everything is handed to him on a silver platter.

I apologize if you sense frustration in my comment. I don't want to do it on your blog or put you in a bad mood, but as a big fan of the chica, I share your frustration :(

God I hate when everything is undone for shock value

Daniel cackled gleefully as the wind blew through his long curls. They were driving through the hills, like Max pinky promised they would, and he was having the best time. They've been cruising for what felt like hours and when they got to empty strips of road; they’d floor it like a drag race. 

Daniel’s favorite part might be when Max grabs for the hand hold overhead. He always enjoyed making his Dad do it, Michelle was harder because she knew his driving style by now. Max had been a whole new challenge, being a race car driver used to high speeds. But Daniel had been excited to learn that all it took to break Max was drifting around a blind corner going down the mountain road. 

It was exhilarating.

Daniel pulled off to the ridge that had a bannister and bench– boasting a lovely view of the sunset over the city.

He all but jumped out of the sports car positively vibrating with happy energy. Chelle would call it his zoomies. He needed to sing, he needed to run with a horse! He wanted to tear his shirt off!

"Don't do that." Max came out of the car, catching his breath.

Daniel's mouth snapped shut, apparently he was singing. A bird flapped its wings overhead and landed in his curls. Daniel bounced from leg to leg, the wide grin set on his face like clay.

Max eyed him consideringly, a small smile on his face. He armed the car and slipped the key fob into the pocket of his pants.

"Hey Daniel?" It was comical how quickly Daniel's head snapped over to his direction, his brown eyes were wide and sparkling.

"Yeah Maxy?" Daniel bit the cuticle on his thumb, waiting for Max's next words. He didn't expect them though.

"Race you!" Max yelled and then he was off like a bullet. Daniel squaked in outrage before apologizing to the bird on his head and running off after the race car driver.

Max lead him into a short copse of trees where they zig zagged through the foliage in an approximation of tag. Daniel laughed joyously, waving to the different animals that came to watch or lead them in different directions. Obstacles were added by a deer that knew a "better path". And a family of rabbits wanted Daniel to win!

Before long they collapsed in a sunny spot, giggling intermittently. Max's face was flushed from exertion and Daniel couldn't look away. He knew he was equally flushed and sweaty, but Max was lovely.

"Where did you learn to drive like that?" Max broke the silence first.

"My dad taught me. I wanted to run with the horses but it wasn't the safest idea, he'd said. So we drove his truck alongside the herd." Daniel preened, Max liked his driving.

"You learned to drift because of horses?" Max's disbelief was clear. Daniel cackled.

"No!" He sang. "I taught myself to drift to scare Papa. He was always so cool and calm so I wanted to ruffle him a little. It was Joey's idea to scare him. Joey's an alpaca."

Max nodded with a snort. He could see that. Joe was always the silent luker in his calls with Michelle. Like he was watching and waiting for any slip ups. He was very protective. Max supposed they truly needed to be. 

He'd only just gotten back into good graces after the video incident.

"You could've been a racer." Max said offhandedly and Daniel's eyes widened comically. 

He'd been playing with the grass by his hips and before he knew it he found himself on his back with an armful of Daniel. He was hugging Max so tightly.

Daniel leaned backwards a little, hovering over Max with the widest grin, so wide his eyes almost disappeared in their crescents. Daniel positively glowed and his tattoos that had been merely fluttering in the afterglow of their playing were moving almost wildly. Wings fluttering, petals blooming, legs dancing– the works.

"Thank you Maxy. That means a lot." Was all Daniel said and Max knew that there was more to it. But he wouldn't focus on that right now. Not when Daniel was looking so lovely above him, glowing under the rays of the sun.

My spread for To The Moon! A friend recommended me this game and although there were a lot of things I really liked about this game, I really really don't like sad stories so this particular game just wasn't for me. The storytelling and art and music was all super well done!! I just hate reading or watching something that will leave me depressed afterwards.

So I do recommend this game if you like sad stories and my score is very subjective to my personal tastes, so don't let that deter you if you are interested in this game. I also gave Celeste a low score even though if I had watched a playthrough instead of playing it, it would've been way higher (I hated the mechanics but loved the art and storytelling). It's just not for me and that's totally okay!

Summary:

Although I liked the story and thought the thing was very wellmade, this game just wasn't my particular cup of tea. Similar to Celeste, I prob would've liked it if I had watched it instead. It's a depressing tale esp after realizing all the work you do is just some simulation and joey still died and river still died heartbroken. It's absolutely a game I'd recommend for people who like sad/sappy stories but it's not something I'd personally replay. Idk if I'll watch or play through the extra content, again this story just made me kinda depressed and i don't enjoy this feeling. I'm also confused why they acted like river's diagnosis was taboo or smth, she had smth like autism right? Why did they say so... The art style is very cute and the animations were done incredibly well. The environments were especially superbly made. The controls were a little odd esp for the mini games. A little disappointed I didn't learn to use the arrow keys until the last ten minutes of the game. Eva and Neil were fun characters, i liked their dynamic. I understand the structure of the story and finding key pieces of their life, but the gameplay got pretty repetitive and tedious until the switch in act 2/3. Overall, a good game with beautiful designs and simple mechanics. If you like sad/tragic stories then I def recommend. This game reminds me a lot of UP (the movie) so I think MC would really like this game (an old teacher of mine).

Also a little note on my comments for autism, I also have autism so it just felt a little weird playing this game. I'm sure the attitudes around autism were much different in the time they were depicting (probably around the mid to late 20th century) but it still rubbed me the wrong way that it seemed everyone treated river poorly, especially her husband. And I also just hate miscommunication tropes so bad so part of that really played into some of the diagnosis and storytelling. Again, not a game for me personally and these were just my critiques but I'm not actually or seriously offended by this game, I just hate sad shit!!!!!!

I want to ask you a rabbit question.

You let them be out on like sheets and stuff.

I've only had a rabbit once as a kid and one thing I remember is there's no potty training for them and they'll leave their nesquick choccy poops everywhere all the time. But I really want one (or two, or three...) when I move to countryside.

Can you actually potty train them, or can you just time their house roaming time that it's more or less clean, as in only x hours after feeding?

This probably isn’t the answer you’re hoping for but i think it mostly depends on the rabbit, yes you can potty train rabbits but some will be easier to train than others, and some will be naturally better at holding it than others.

I’ve never used a timed routine with my rabbits so i can’t speak for how effective that is, as far as i can tell there’s no routine with my rabbits toileting but i can’t say I’ve ever examined it either. I used the standard potty training method which is just setting up a small area for them with a litter tray, once they’ve used the litter tray in their cage or pen or whatever it is, open them out to the rest of the room, they should instinctively go back to the litter tray they’ve already used especially if it’s set up correctly (eg preferably in a corner so they can back up against it and feel completely safe), at first accidents may happen, if they pee anywhere they shouldn’t scrub it and clean it really well and they shouldn’t pee there again, and any poops they leave around relocate them to the litter tray. Some rabbits get on better with 2 or 3 litter trays to choose from, especially if they pee in a corner I’d suggest setting up a 2nd tray there, but some rabbits prefer just having one toilet. Rita is very good and almost never leaves poops around behind her but Joey was a bit more um incontinent than her, so even though his pee potty training was great he pretty much always left poop around, but that didn’t bother me too much I’d just hoover it up.

I think it’s more common for rabbits to leave droppings around than to only ever poop in their trays, and even the best trained rabbits will probably leave droppings sometimes. Rita is the cleanest rabbit I’ve had and she still sometimes leaves poops on the rug, i think it can just ‘happen’ sometimes but she also takes the liberty of cleaning them up for me sometimes too (she eats them🫣)

With being on my bed sheets i generally do try to keep that to a minimum because I’d rather accidents happen on my floor if they’re going to happen, but she has the freedom to come up here if she wants and generally chooses not to anyway. Overall i think if you potty train your rabbits any rabbit can be trained to hold their pee for their litter tray, but not every rabbit can be trained to hold all of their poop.

I hope you choose to get rabbits and will consider getting rescues, one bonus of getting a rescue is they’re very often already potty trained. Best of luck with your goals 🫶

Which started me down this long memory rabbit hole of remembering singing it together with this girl I had a crush on at our work Thanksgiving thing when I was a much, much younger person. We were the only two who knew the song, which was not the reason I had a crush on her but representative of why I had a huge crush on her. She had a phase in high school where she dressed like Courtney Love and called herself Polly and that story alone made me feel a connection to her. That and loudly signing songs no one else knew which was probably annoying to the for real adults at a work Thanksgiving Party but fuck them all, some of them are probably dead now and good riddance to boomer killjoys. Anyway, my basic point is I liked Joey King's pants and so I am posting her. Today I want to fuck Joey King.

brain hasn't been letting me write recently, so here's something from a few weeks ago. it's the intro to the "soft praise kink jakesyb" smutfic i will eventually come back to (also uh...katc spoilers but these spoilers are a LOOOOOOOONG way off and still kinda falls in line with fc5 canon so spoilers but not really but still kinda). tw for decapitation

Sybille storms through the hallways of St. Francis. The Chosen wisely part for her as she carves a bloody streak of red across the floors. She’s drenched in red, her eyes wide and almost manic. Her pupils are tiny pinpricks surrounded by thick rings of green, and her chest heaves with every shallow breath she takes. Every muscle in her body is tense, poised to strike and lash out at anyone who gets in her way, and the sweet, metallic taste of iron fills her mouth. 

Yet, she looks leagues better than the victim she’s carrying with her. 

Every thunderous step of her combat boots leaves wet, red footprints across the linoleum, striding alongside the dripping trail originating from the stump of Eli Palmer's neck. 

She carries the head by its hair -- his head by his hair. Her fingers weave through the dark, tangled, matted locks. The skin is pale, his chapped lips a frigid blue, and his jaw hangs slack now that there’s no tension to keep it shut. His warm brown eyes -- eyes that looked upon her with affection, with a look that said “Under any other circumstances, we could have had something great,” -- are nothing more than cold, glassy marbles, quickly clouding over. 

She had done her job. Served her purpose. Made her sacrifice. 

The worst part of it is that she had done it entirely sober. No Bliss clouded her judgment. No red tinting the edges of her vision or “Only You” echoing hauntingly somewhere in the distance. She was entirely aware of what she was doing as she committed every single gruesome action against Eli and the Whitetail militia. 

He had fed her, clothed her, armed her, fucking saved her. He was the one who pulled her from the Grand View all those weeks ago. He was the one who trusted her when no one else did, when her mind was still in the early stages of ripping itself apart. He didn’t judge her for her instability like Joey, or challenge her decisions like Grace eventually did. They were equals. Former soldiers, thrust into positions of authority against their will and burdened by the responsibility others placed on them. He let her into his bunker. Trusted her when trust was hard to come by. 

And in exchange, she killed him; smoked the militia out of their burrow as if they were nothing more than rabbits. She had hunted them down. Picked them off, one by one until it was just Eli left. He had begged her for mercy. Pleading, saying that this wasn’t her, that it was Jacob’s conditioning. She was better than this. Stronger.

She showed him just how strong she was by meting out the Judgment for his sins, as her new role in the Project demands. Then, she had cut through the cartilage of his neck and slipped her knife between his vertebrae to bring a trophy back to her Master. 

Proof she had made her sacrifice; that she had done as ordered like the good little soldier she is. Jacob’s right hand. His pet. His Judge. 

Kicking down the door to Jacob’s office, she barges in without announcing herself. He’s sitting at his desk with his reading glasses perched precariously on the tip of his nose. A number of files lay spread out across his desk, and he’s meticulously cross-referencing them when she drops Eli’s head on top of them with an undignified splat. 

“It’s done,” she says grimly.

Three ships you like

1) Otasune! I’ve adored these two since like 2008. Literally baby’s first OTP. Returned to them last November when wifey and I watched a streamer play mgs1. I will never get over how these two just… started a (basically) two-man operation together to save the world? Have a secret handshake? Raise a daughter? Like damn they’re basically married, happy for them :) Also their constant banter is an absolute delight that I enjoy writing so much

2) Touyuki! Essentially baby’s second OTP. Like I was into ccs before mgs but didn’t realize they’re actually CANON until adulthood?? Love how casually intimate they are with each other, lordy. Also they’ve been referring to each other without honorifics since the very beginning which makes me feral

3) DinCobb! First ship I’ve ever written for, and first fandom I’ve ever interacted with. The ship itself is incredibly fun, as both Din and Cobb are very fun individually and they have amazing on-screen chemistry, but my lasting affinity for this ship is largely because of how lovely my fandom experience was 🥰 i adore everyone on that discord server and am so thankful for all the friends I made!!
