"ink and imprints: sketching the story lines on my journey"
I was born on November 30,2005 at Cebu City, hello there I'm Brilliant Dia Brusas I have four siblings, two girls and 2 boys. I was 7 months old when I was born,so my aunt provide all the vitamins and milk for me because my mother has no work and that time my  parents separated because my grandpa doesn't support them. When I was 1 year old,my parents meet again so my father pursue my mother. My grandpa realize that I need a father and my father has a right to live with us,so my grandpa accept my father and we build a house in Lapu-Lapu City. When I get older,I'm a naughty child and a bad attitude,I didn't listen to my parents so tey both hated me. I just realized that I need their attention, they are so busy working they even hired a maid to take care of me and whenever they will hired a maid I will do anything to make that maid leave so that my parents will be the one take care of me.
I have an elder sister,a half sister, she was born at Masbate. When I was 8 years old my sister came and live here at Cebu,at first I really hate it because my parents let me feel that I am not their family, what my sister wants they give it. They always make her feel that she will be loved by them. I can't hate my elder sister because whenever my parents mad at me she is their by my side comforting me,she is always there whenever I need someone to lean on.
When I was in Junior High School, grade 7 I met a lot of friends,o have two best friends but I feel like I'm not their best friends because I am poor they are rich. And I met someone, she is so kind,so beautiful,so humble and brainy I really admire her. We were so close, until grade 10. When I was in grade 7 there was a grade 10 student girl who likes me,she is a cousin of one of my friends but that time is I was straight:)) she gives me flowers, and she always ask me to go out with her but nah I like someone else that time and it was a boy (shesh). When I was grade 9 pandemic era,t was so boring so I made a rp account or role play account,I made a male account and disguised as a boy. There,I meet a girl, she is the reason why i turned into a lesbian. She is just a simple girl, morena, has this perfect shape of nose,a beautiful eyes. She confessed her feelings, but I can't accept even though I liked her too because she didn't know that I'm a girl. 5 months have passed,I decided to tell her the truth she's not mad she even thank me I forgot the reason but she left me,I can't stop her.
When I was in grade 10 my mother went abroad because she has no idea where she can find a job that suits her and can surely help us. My elder sister went back to Masbate to finish her study. I am the one who take care of my younger siblings because my father is busy at work,he left the house in dawn and went home at night. It was so hard for me because I need to take care of my study and my siblings need help when they have an assignment. I am the one who do the house chores and even cooked for them. Months have passed,my mother hired a made to help me.
When I graduated,I choose the school of asian Learning Center Inc. to discover the whole Lapu-Lapu City because I know I will meet a lot of friends there. I'm an introvert that time so it was so hard for me to make friends, but I was so thankful to have a sitmate that so friendly,Juniela(imissyou) and Ace,they are the reason that I'm so friendly now and turn my self into extrovert haha. When we were in grade 12 Juniela moved into modular. Being a grade 12 student,it was hard, fun, exhausted and we made a lot of experience.

Okay, it’s 2022. I haven’t updated this blog for a while because I was very busy like legit busy!
Update?
I quit my call center job before Christmas and applied to a dayshift job. I am now an admin assistant to a Real Estate company based in Australia, hmm kinda like an accountant.
Typhoon Odette made us suffer for a while. No electricity, internet and phone connections, and water was also limited. It was a tragedy not only here in Cebu but as well as nearby cities. Things are slowly going back to normal now, but some areas still don’t have power and signals.
I started working last 31-Jan, 2022. I was very happy at work today. A tenant named Rajeev called, asking to speak with Daniel. When I asked why, he said he’s just returning his call.
So I dialed Daniel and he sounded surprised and happy when he realized I called. He said I’m already doing a very good job and he appreciates me a lot. He said the invoice genius might be a little difficult for now but once it’s fixed, everything is going to be smooth. He kept repeating that I am doing a great job. He even emailed me the other day “good job” and today “great work”.
I mean, as a newly hired employee, today’s my 6th day and to hear those words coming from our director? I’m speechless, flattered and full of motivation.

Beyond BPOs: Cebu's Transforming Job Landscape in 2025
Cebu's employment scene has dramatically shifted from its traditional BPO-centric focus, with new industries reshaping job hiring in Cebu City. At the heart of this transformation is the bustling IT Park, where tech startups and digital agencies now compete with established BPO giants for talent. JOBYODA's latest market data shows a 40% increase in tech-focused positions, particularly in mobile app development and artificial intelligence.
The rise of Cebu's creative economy has sparked an unexpected surge in part time jobs Cebu, especially in the trendy districts of Banilad and Mabolo. Design studios, content creation houses, and digital marketing agencies are actively seeking talent, with many offering flexible work arrangements. These creative positions, easily searchable on JOBYODA's specialized creative jobs section, often provide competitive project-based compensation ranging from ₱20,000 to ₱45,000 per project.
Mandaue City's industrial zone has emerged as a surprising hotspot for job hiring in Cebu, with manufacturing companies adopting advanced technologies. The area's transformation has created demand for specialists in industrial automation, quality control, and supply chain management. JOBYODA reports that these positions often offer comprehensive benefits packages, including health insurance and performance bonuses, making them increasingly attractive to young professionals.
The hospitality sector, centered around Mactan's luxury resorts and boutique hotels, has evolved beyond traditional roles. Cebu hiring in this sector now emphasizes experience design and digital guest services. Hotels are specifically seeking professionals who can blend traditional Filipino hospitality with modern guest experience technologies. These positions, readily available on JOBYODA's hospitality section, often include unique perks like resort access and travel benefits.
In the rapidly developing South Road Properties (SRP) area, part time jobs Cebu have taken on a new dimension. The entertainment and retail complexes rising in this reclaimed area are creating weekend-only positions perfect for students and young professionals. These roles, ranging from event coordinators to retail specialists, typically offer flexible schedules and competitive hourly rates of ₱100-150, all easily filtered through JOBYODA's part-time job search feature.
Cebu's medical tourism industry has created an unexpected niche in the job market. Hospitals and wellness centers in the Cebu Business Park area are actively posting job hiring in Cebu City announcements for medical tourism coordinators, wellness specialists, and healthcare administrators. These positions often require unique combinations of healthcare knowledge and hospitality skills, with JOBYODA's healthcare section featuring salaries ranging from ₱30,000 to ₱60,000 monthly.
The expansion of Cebu's startup ecosystem has transformed the IT Park beyond recognition. Small but dynamic companies are offering roles that didn't exist five years ago, such as blockchain developers, UX researchers, and growth hackers. Cebu hiring in the startup sector often includes equity packages and flexible work arrangements, making these positions particularly attractive to young professionals seeking autonomy and growth potential.
Sustainable development initiatives in Cebu are creating green jobs across various sectors. From renewable energy projects in Toledo to urban farming initiatives in Talamban, organizations are seeking environmental specialists and sustainability coordinators. JOBYODA's dedicated environmental jobs section helps connect eco-conscious professionals with these emerging opportunities.
The gig economy has taken root in Cebu's suburban areas like Liloan and Minglanilla, where part time jobs Cebu opportunities have evolved to include specialized services like drone photography, virtual event management, and local tour experiences. These roles offer independence and creative freedom, with earning potential varying based on expertise and market demand.
Transportation developments, particularly the ongoing Cebu Bus Rapid Transit project, have spawned new job categories in urban planning and transportation management. Job hiring in Cebu now includes positions for transport system analysts, traffic flow specialists, and public transportation coordinators, all easily searchable through JOBYODA's infrastructure jobs category.
For young professionals entering Cebu's job market, the landscape offers unprecedented variety. Whether it's joining a blockchain startup in IT Park, managing guest experiences in Mactan's luxury resorts, or coordinating medical tourism programs in the Business Park, opportunities extend far beyond traditional career paths. JOBYODA's platform has adapted to this evolution, offering specialized search filters and detailed company profiles that help job seekers navigate these diverse options.
As Cebu continues its economic transformation, the key to success lies in understanding these emerging sectors and their unique requirements. Through JOBYODA's comprehensive platform, professionals can explore these opportunities and find positions that align with their skills and aspirations in Cebu's dynamic economy.

Jennifer, a domestic worker from thePhilippines, avoided going out too much after Hong Kong recorded its first coronavirus case on January 22 and fears began to grow about the outbreak. But in early February, she decided to attend a mass in Fortress Hill.
Jennifer, who gave only her first name, said she was away from her employers’ home in Sai Kung from 10.30am to about 12.30pm. “When I returned, they asked for my smart card [to enter the flat] and told me to pack my things right away.”
She did not have a place to go. But “luckily I had friends who were off that day too and they helped me”, said the migrant, 46, who is now living in a church-run shelter.
Jennifer is among dozens of foreign domestic workers in Hong Kong who have been fired in recent weeks amid the coronavirus outbreak gripping the city, based on accounts from more than five migrants and advocates.
Reasons cited for their dismissal ranged from arguments over the time they were allowed to spend outside the house on their days off, to employers claiming they had lost their jobs or were leaving the city.
Migrants who have been sacked say they are now struggling to find new jobs in Hong Kong, which has seen two deaths from more than 90 coronavirus cases – including two domestic workers from the Philippines who tested positive for the virus, which causes a disease known as Covid-19 – in February.
After having their contracts terminated, foreign domestic workers are usually allowed to remain in Hong Kong for only 10 days. But since the outbreak, many have sought to extend their visas in order to file labour claims, while some could not return to the Philippines after Manila on February 2 issued a temporary ban on travel from China, including Hong Kong and Macau.
This ban was partially lifted on February 18, but migrants say it has still been challenging to return home, as both Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific have cancelled all flights to the city until the end of March, and some workers cannot afford more expensive options.
Jennifer, who first arrived in Hong Kong in 2003, said she had been to several job interviews over the past four weeks but her recent dismissal seemed to be an obstacle in getting hired and she was now waiting to fly home.
“Finding another employer seems more difficult now than before. An agency told me that I should not share the real reason, because it looks like I was being selfish and disobedient. They will judge me right away,” she said.

“How Cyberbacker became an instrument in changing my life.”
Cyberbacker has changed not just my life but also the life of the people I love, my family. Our lives changed 360 degrees if I can use the term. Many of you might think that it is an overstatement to use such term but it is the truth. Let me tell you first how I learned about Cyberbacker. Back in December 2017, I came across with a post about Cyberbacker in one of the online freelancer groups on Facebook where, Craig Goodliffe, the CEO was tagged. I sent a message to him asking if I could apply. Immediately thereafter, Craig get back to me telling me to pass my application in the Cyberbacker's website. However, I was not able to send my application at that time because of family problem. By that time, Cyberbacker was always on my mind thinking what opportunities and benefits I might get once employed by the company. Feeling a little bit disappointed for the opportunity lost, I told my sister, Ashri about the company and convinced her to send her application. Fortunately, she got hired! I told myself that it might be an opportunity lost for me but not to my sister. April of 2018, my father-in-law had a stroke. By that time, we were living in the same house with them. After he got discharged from the hospital, he needed treatments and therapies to fully recover. At that time, my father-in-law was in a bad state. So, my sister-in-law decided to get him and traveled to Cebu City with him to monitor and to fully take care of him. Me, my husband, and my 2 kids were left here in Mindanao. The struggle was both of us did not have a proper job with no proper income to fend for ourselves and to the kids. I had a part time job in an online teaching company at that time but what can a 3k to 4k salary can do? We had to transfer to smaller apartment, called pad, where only the bed can fit inside. We had to cook outside the room because there's no space inside enough to the four of us. Because of non-payment with our internet payment, our connection was many times cut-off by the provider. I mean, with all those expenses how can I even pay for it? Fast forward, my sister, Ashri, sent me a message on January of 2019 telling me to send my application with Cyberbacker. I was hesitant at first because of the fear that I might not get in. But because of the state of my family at that time, I decided to conquer my fear and to take a risk. I sent my application and got hired. Craig interviewed me and thereafter told me that I got hired and can start working after New Year. I was speechless and overwhelmed when he said that. And of course, I did cry because of the thought that finally, my family can now have a better life for the reason that I now have a stable work with a stable income. During my first year in Cyberbacker, I was able to invest a laptop, I was able to send my youngest child in a private school and most of all, I can now provide for the needs of my kids without worrying that much with the budget. A blessing came on August 2019, I got pregnant with my third child. But pandemic happened. The rates in the hospital spike but because of Cyberbacker, I was able to save money for my cesarean operation. And since we have additional member in the family, we decided to transfer to bigger place. But when life hits you hard, It really hit you so hard. My husband had to undergo an operation on his submandibular gland. Fortunately, because I have this work, money did not became an issue with my husband's operation. What I want to say is that, a big thank you to Cyberbacker! Because of this company, my kids can now play and move freely in a bigger house, no internet disconnection because we can now afford for the internet bill and I can now give the things that my kids deserve. With this opportunity, our next goal is to have a house and lot of our own and to save money for our kids' education.
