Are there any other Jason Ritter fans out there? I've recently become obsessed with him; I've stalked his entire filmography and watched everything I could find—some things more than once—and now I've run out, and I have absolutely no one to squeal about him with. It depresses me that no one else seems to be talking about and appreciating this amazing and talented man. So if there are any other Jason Ritter fans out there please just say hi and let me know that I'm not alone. ^.^',

Joans of Arc and Arcadia
Joans of Arc and Arcadia
I noticed on the almanac on January 6 that it was the birthday of Joan of Arc. It so happened that I had just watched an old episode of the TV series Joan of Arcadia. These synchronicities happen sometimes. They are not coincidences.
Joan of Arc (French: Jeanne d’Arc) was born in 1412 to peasant parents in Domrémy, France. Nicknamed “The Maid of Orléans” she is considered a heroine of France for…

Has anyone mentioned the fact that Jason Ritter is on Kevin Probably Saves The World playing the title character Kevin who sees what I’m assuming is an angel; and he also played a character named Kevin on Joan Of Arcadia where the title character (not his granted) sees God everywhere?

I have a very important question, is the Kevin who is portrayed by Jason Ritter and is apparently visited by a messenger from God in this upcoming show Kevin (Probably) Saves the World the same Kevin as the Kevin portrayed by Jason Ritter in Joan of Arcadia whose sister Joan (portrayed by Amber Tamblyn) is frequently visited by God?

RYV 1/2 I was watching Jaime French's video about Raise Your Voice, the Hilary Duff movie, and she mentioned how the brother is always recording his sister on his camcorder and cares about her so much, and that in reviews she had read, people thought that was suspicious. She also showed a clip where Hilary is singing and her brother comes in with his camera without her realising, and he has that "gosh, she's magical" look on his face.
RYV 2/2 I realised the brother is played by Jason Ritter who was in Joan of Arcadia, in which he also plays someone who has a sweet relationship with his sister. Also, there's a scene in the car where Hilary says something like "Let me know if you're ever gonna break the law again" and he looks at her with such guilt... I choose to interpret that how I choose lol. Just thought it was a fun recommendation that I had no memory of thinking involved sister/brother chemistry.
Tumblr media
Raise Your Voice came up quite a few years back. In fact, it has been so long that I didn't even realize the brother was Jason Ritter. He is officially king of the incest shipping, because Raise Your Voice and Joan of Arcadia are only the tip of the iceberg. You've got Gravity Falls, Kevin (Probably) Saves The World, and, of course, Another Period.
I shared my thoughts about Raise Your Voice here.
I 100% agree that it's a fun recommendation and has A LOT to offer bro/sis shippers.
Thanks for your message, Anon!

I really wish Barbara Hall would write the conclusion to Joan of Arcadia somehow. She’s written and published a whole bunch of novels so why not write how the third season would have gone that way? I can’t tell if it’s a licensing issue or if she just doesn’t feel like doing it or if the whole revival movement has them thinking they’ll one day revisit the show.
Either way, it’s been twelve years since its cancellation and I’m still not over it. I mean in the sense that I really would like some kind of closure. Open endings annoy me.
Meh.
Although I do find it heavily ironic that Jason Ritter’s new show for the fall, The Gospel of Kevin is eerily similar to JOA. Well, sort of. Joan wasn’t exactly supposed to “save the world,” but she was in a roundabout way. And this show isn’t explicitly saying God, but rather a “celestial being.” So maybe I’ll just pretend this is some kind of sequel.
Although, if I’m watching it, there’s a 99.9% chance it’ll be axed. Because I have those kinds of magical powers apparently.

Props to Roswell NM for having a character with a physical disability in the first place, even if that is results of his deployment in Iraq. And part of the main cast as well.
I can’t think of many characters with disabilities on basic prime time television over the years. I’m only counting those on basic tv and not cable. So no Tyrion Lannister from Games of Thrones or Walt Jr White from Breaking Bad. It’s a much bigger playing field on cable.
I can think of a few for examples  of characters I know of, Gregory House from House, Artie Abrams from Glee, Kevin Girardi from Joan of Arcadia, JJ DiMeo from Speechless, etc.
Though I can think of a lot more in current years than from tv days past. And it’s an even smaller wading pool of having a LGBT who is main cast member having a physical disability. The only other two I can think of is Rick Lincoln from the Night Shift (funny enough he plays the husband of a character played by Brendan Fehr who played the original Michael in Roswell) And Arizona Robbins from Grey's Anatomy. Both of them having loss legs because of accidents.
So I’m curious and interested to see where they plan to go with this.
Hopefully they show the story in a realistic and respectful way. Though I’m assuming there will come a time when Alex no longer uses the crutch and walks around freely. Since most people I know who have lost a leg do learn to walk and move about without assistance.
I’m assuming that he’s freshly back from serving and the loss of his leg is recent and he’s still adjusting, adapting, and accepting his new life. I hope we find out what happened and that they show his everyday life with his leg which is true to life.

1- if you could reboot one TV show, which one would it be? 2- if you could have saved one TV show from cancellation, which one would it be? 5- what’s your comfort show? 6- which shows do you think are underrated and need more love?
You’re so sweet. Thank you 1 If you could reboot one TV show, which one would it be?I don’t know … I feel like most reboots are disappointing. They did a one off reboot episode of a British sitcom called ‘Goodnight Sweetheart’ and I actually thought that worked really well, so that was first to come to mind when you asked. Maybe ‘Eli Stone’ or ‘Joan of Arcadia’ - I feel like we need a divine inspiration show for the modern times, but then Kevin Saves the World was cancelled so maybe there’s not an audience for it. ‘Pushing Daisies’ was cancelled before it’s time but it’s been so long I don’t know. Sorry this isn’t much of an answer. I tried.
2 If you could have saved one TV show from cancellation, which one would it be?Forever! I’m so upset about losing that one. But I’ve been really sad about the cancellation of many shows. ‘No Tomorrow’ I would have liked more of. There are so many, but ‘Forever’ had the procedural element too which could have kept it going a lot longer.5 What’s your comfort show?Anything that takes me back to the early 00s. The gentle dramedy shows. ‘Gilmore Girls’. It was a bit later but ‘October Road’ is a big one for me.
6 Which shows do you think are underrated and need more love?Umm …. I can’t think of any at the moment. I think ‘Bunheads’ was very under loved during it’s run. And ‘No Tomorrow’.
