Josuke is a very meticulous vinyl record owner. He cleans them often and never stacks them horizontally (Josuke’s certainly whined to his mother about her mindlessly doing so). Considering he’s always proud of the money he saves, he’s by extension also quite happy with the vinyl he does own. Whenever he does finally retreat into his bedroom at the end of a night, he’s listening to music almost constantly. Therefore, he uses his record player quite often, and is in part the reason as to why he’s so aware of their playable condition.

Being best friends with a person like Josuke doesn’t leave much room to not become wary of one’s vinyl record habits. Okuyasu lives that reality. When he started buying records, he simply figured you put them in a box to keep them all together and... that was pretty much it. He’s gradually grown more careful over how he handles them, though. Sometimes Okuyasu will poke fun at Josuke for his music taste “not being delinquet enough.”

It wasn’t until after Josuke and Rohan gifted Koichi a handful of vinyl records that he went out to purchase a record player in the first place. Generally, he prefers to listen to a radio station more than anything else. It’s not that he isn’t picky about music, (he’s really not but wishes to better refine his own taste) it’s just much more convenient. He’s a music chameleon, listening to whatever people around him prefer. Because of this, Koichi’s preferfences skip across vastly different genres and come across as rather unfocused- and by extension, his record collection does as well.

With the amount of free space available in his house, Rohan has a specific room solely dedicated to his vast vinyl record collection. He’s very precise about the placement of everything he owns, having all his records organized meticulously. Not only that, but he wouldn’t be caught dead owning a cheap record player. Is certainly high and mighty about his music taste; not ever considering that his opinion is flawed or simply objective in any way.

I did a post detailing my manga collection back in 2021, but it's grown a lot since then so I figured I'd make a new post! It was also a good time to do so because we're repainting my room and while there's usually a ton of anime merch in front of the books on my shelves, now it's all been packed up. Yuya Fungami (噴上 裕也 Fungami Yūya) is a secondary ally featured in the fourth part of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Diamond is Unbreakable. Introduced as an antagonist in “Highway Star”, he becomes an ally in “Enigma Boy”.Yuya is a motorcycle gang member who was made into a Stand user by Yoshihiro Kira and prompted into attacking Josuke and the others. The Stand makes its first appearance by luring a manga author, Rohan Kishibe inside of a hallucinatory room. Despite his speed, Highway Star catches up and latches onto Rohan, dropping him from the motorcycle and slowly draining him of his life force. Highway Star drags him back to the room but fortunately for Rohan, Josuke Higashikata arrives to the scene to investigate the tunnel alongside him. Through Highway Star, Yuya tempts Rohan into luring his most hated acquaintance into the room in exchange for freedom. Rohan makes a declaration refusing his offer out of principles. He warns Josuke about the Stand’s ability and demands the user’s defeat. Back at the hospital Yuya recovers rapidly from the life force sucked out of Rohan. After not being able to breathe properly Yuya was now able to speak to his fangirls.Josuke beats YuyaAfter a harsh chase across Morioh Josuke eventually finds his way to Yuya’s hospital room. Despite this Highway Star still manages to catch up while he struggles to confront Yuya directly. As Josuke is slowly drained, Yuya’s satisfied to be the victor and optimistic about his improving condition. With his new source of nourishment he notices that his sense of smell has sharpened considerably and boasts about the ability. Relaxed on the bed he notices the sharp smell of adrenaline, and blames one of his fan girls to be the source. Unfortunately for Yuya, Josuke suddenly springs back to action having sipped on his IV. Josuke gets in range and strikes Yuya faster than Highway Star can act. Yuya pleads for mercy, invoking that it would be terrible to fight a crippled man like him. Josuke agrees and heals Yuya to perfect condition, just to make it a fair fight. Crazy Diamond proceeds to pummel Yuya and sends him flying through the window.Back to square one as far as his injuries are concerned, Yuya’s face has now been ruined and his fangirls stop caring about him. Josuke later dissuades Yuya from using his Stand to heal himself.Enigma BoyYuya works with JosukeWhen Koichi is kidnapped by Terunosuke Miyamoto, Josuke visits Yuya to ask for his help, and offers to heal him. Although Yuya remains spiteful about their last encounter, he cannot pass up the opportunity to be healed. Without his looks, his fangirls have seemingly left him. With Crazy Diamond, Yuya is now completely healed and open to help out Josuke. His fangirls return suddenly, shocked to find him fully recover, and he takes a little bit of time to boast about his sense of smell to them.They get to work, and Yuya tracks Koichi’s smell up to a square where they find his school-bag. Yuya also picks up on another’s scent in the area. He reminds Josuke of their deal that keeps Yuya out of the fight and watches. He witnesses Terunosuke Miyamoto ambushing Josuke using his paper-based Stand ability Enigma. Josuke is caught in a trap where Koichi’s assumed paper is thrown in the path of a car. His tell of fear is exposed, allowing Enigma to trap him using his ability. Josuke is sealed into a paper but not before declaring that that he expected a trap and still wanted to save it just for the small possibility that Koichi could be in it. He then threatens to kill Miyamoto, if he fails to kill him first. Miyamoto compliments Yuya for not interfering, and leaves the scene in a taxi cab, summoned from his ability.Inspired by Josuke’s speech, Yuya decides to join him in the fray, declaring that letting someone like Yoshikage Kira loose would hurt his image. He sends out Highway Star to chase the car and confront Miyamoto. When Yuya eventually catches up to the taxi he finds it parked on the side of the road with a piece of paper put on the passenger seats. Yuya manages to avoid a first trap as he opens the door and a paper stuck in it releases fire. He picks the paper and realizes that while Josuke and Koichi are in there, other items are folded together in it. Yuya lightly unfolds the paper only to realise that scorpions have come out of it. Highway Star dispatches them but then the paper releases some sort of chemical that eats away at the rest of the paper. It doesn’t end there for Yuya though, and a spark of electricity shoots out towards him.Yuya saves Josuke and Koichi from a shredderYuya unfolds the entire paper and it releases a shredder that’s going to kill Josuke and Koichi. Unable to break the machine or pull the papers, Yuya shows his fear tell allowing Miyamoto to finally turn him into paper. Yuya expected this though and uses his transformation to fit his hand into the shredder pulling out both Stand users. When Miyamoto threatens to rip Yuya’s paper, Koichi’s Echoes weights his hands and immobilizes him. JoJolion Ch.2-6

Well, now that we're underway, this is the "Soft and Wet" arc.

Yasuho visits Joshuu in the hospital. He wasn't hurt or anything, but for some reason he's been sleeping for the past two days, and that seems... bizarre.

While she's here, she checks in on the mysterious naked man. He's got some sort of pajamas from the hospital, but that's it. Also, she finds him sleeping underneath the mattress, which he likes because the mattress applies greater pressure to his body. Okay, but you're sleeping on the bare springs, and that doesn't seem like a good idea.

Anyway, he doesn't remember anything about himself. He knows basic information, but he has no idea who he is or how he got here. Also, he seems to be really good as estimating lengths and distances of objects. The first thing he does remember is Yasuho Hirose, who pulled him out of the water. He embraces her in this tender moment, but he's apparently got a boner and she can tell.

Their early relationship seems to work this way, where she's intrigued by the mystery of his identity, and a little charmed by his innocent behavior, but she's also worried that he's gonna assault her or something. Ultimately, though, her curiosity overrules her suspicion. The only clue on his person is his adorable li'l sailor hat, so Yasuho runs with it. Turns out the tag inside bears the logo of a local shop, and she wants to see if they can find out if anyone there remembers selling a hat like this recently.

But the police have confined Anonymous to his room, out of concern that he might be responsible for Joshuu's condition. Yasuho offers to pursue the lead alone, but our four-balled pal insists on going with her to see this through. He uses his soap bubble power to remove moisture from the guard's body, and when she goes to get a drink from the water fountain, they sneak out. Also, he notices Yasuho is wearing a padded bra.

Meanwhile, Joshuu is bitter when he sees Yasuho leaving the hospital with whatsisname. Also he got a bite on his leg at some point, just like the bite on Anonymous' shoulder. He doesn't know when this happened, and I think the idea here is that this was what caused his two-day fever.

The hat shop is filled with callbacks to past JoJo parts, most notably the hat Jotaro wore in Part 3, and the hats Johnny and Gyro wore in Part 7. Also, Emporio's baseball cap is there, and you can also see the sailor hat from Part 8... wait. Sorry.

As luck would have it, the shopkeep does remember selling this hat recently, to a Yoshikage Kira. Yasuho manages to get the shopkeep to reveal the customer's address, which seems like an odd thing to have in his records.

On their way to Kira's apartment, Yasuho laments that the name she made up for this guy will now have to go unused. She had been thinking about calling him "Josuke" after a pet dog she once had that kind of looks like him somehow.

Okay, so the first leg of JoJolion is kind of confusing, because the protagonist himself doesn't know who he is, and even without his amnesia he's kind of an odd duck, but besides that, it's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, so everything else in the story is kind of odd too. Yoshikage Kira's odd, and the bad guy we're about to meet is kind of odd, and it gets kind of complicated sorting out which eccentricities belong to whom.

For example, when they enter Kira's apartment, Yasuho discovers a cabinet in the kitchen filled with nothing but canned peas and wasabi. The implication is that this is all Kira eats, or at least he sorts his kitchen by color. So one would assume that this means "Josuke" is the same way, since this is supposed to be his place.

Then they find a naked woman in the bathtub, and Josuke also discovers the medicine cabinet is full of jars of old fingernail clippings. This, along with the Mona Lisa replica in the living room, are callbacks to the Yoshikage Kira who was the main villain in Part 4, Diamond is Unbreakable. That Kira was obsessed with cutting his nails, and he had a sexual awakening when he first saw the hands of the Mona Lisa, and he was a serial killer who would remove the hands of young women and keep them as "companions" until he got bored or the smell was too intolerable.

So it sure looks like the Part 8 Kira is a lot like Part 4 Kira, which makes him a total nutjob. So if "Josuke" is Kira, then what does that make him?

The naked woman in the tub isn't much help either. She just wants to escape, and while they try to sort this out, Yasuho discovers a photo album containing pictures of the same captive woman in bondage gear. In some photos she's wearing Kira's sailor outfit, and in one you can see what appears to be "Josuke" in the background. Yasuho leaves the apartment in disgust, thinking that this guy is a total dirtbag. And yet... she can't really reconcile these revelations about Kira with what she remembers about "Josuke".

Yasuho wonders if she's made a mistake. She considers that she can't discern anyone's true character, even her parents'. I'm not sure if she's admitting to a personal inability to read people, or if she's describing the human condition in general. Anyway, she begins to wonder if "Josuke" really isn't Kira after all, and goes back to the apartment to make sure.

Meanwhile, Josuke is in a life-or-death struggle against an unknown enemy in the apartment above them. The naked woman says she's being held her against her will, and she's bait for a trap laid by this enemy. Said enemy has a weird power to control people like puppets, but only under two conditions:

The victim has to have a cut on both hands and both feet.

He has to be directly over the victim to control them.

That's what's keeping Bathtub Woman in the apartment. She already has the four marks, and the enemy can tell where she is by the sounds she makes. It's possible she stayed in the tub thinking he wouldn't be able to hear her in there, but I doubt it.

Anyway, Josuke gets some of his limbs cut while he tries to figure this out, because the enemy has booby-trapped the apartment to cause this. Slippers are laced with thumbtacks, towels have needles sewn into them, and the chain on the bathtub drainplug has been sharpened. Bathtub Woman keeps warning him that he needs to escape while he still has some free limbs, but Josuke doesn't get it until it's too late. By the time he understands, the enemy is trying to force Bathtub Woman to cut her own tongue out, and when he takes the razor, the enemy tries to control Josuke's arm into cutting him.

So Josuke uses his Stand, Soft and Wet. This is the same power he used before, but it's not just bubbles, there's also a robot ghost that can punch things really hard. Josuke uses a bubble to remove the sound from the wall, so when Soft and Wet kicks a hole in it, the enemy can't hear. This allows Josuke to move out from under the enemy so he can drop the razor.

Josuke considers heading out the apartment door, but figures the enemy would see that coming, so he goes out on the patio instead, only to find poisonous snakes! Yikes!

Josuke's Stand can't remove the poison from his own body because the power only works on external objects and people. I guess if he had used it before the snakes bit him he could have removed the toxicity from the venom, or the sharpness from their fangs, but it's too late for that. Then the phone rings, because the enemy can't hear them downstairs anymore, so it's a trap. Whoever answers the phone, he'll know exactly where they are. So the woman warns Josuke of this, but she answers anyway and gives away Josuke's location to save her own life.

For the record, this lady is very nude, and her nipples are on full display throughout this arc. I'm trying not to show that since I don't know where Tumblr draws the line these days, but if you're wondering why I'm skipping certain scenes, that's the reason. As I recall, Part 8 got published in a different manga magazine than the previous parts, and that was partly because it was for older readers and there were fewer restrictions on the content. So when I read this for the first time I wondered if this was going to be the norm for Part 8, but not really. It's like Araki wanted to draw some naked boobs, then he finished chapter 6 and kind of got it out of his system.

Then Yasuho comes back, explaining that there's too many inconsistencies and Josuke can't be Kira. But she finds Josuke struggling against his own limbs as the enemy tries to kill him with a hacksaw. He warns her run but the enemy forces Josuke to attack her with the hacksaw to wound her and trap her along with the others.

Yasuho begins to panic, and at first I couldn't understand why she was holding her hand over her groin, but now it makes perfect sense. But Josuke reassures her that she's safe. Her return to the apartment distracted the enemy long enough for Josuke to use another soap bubble, which removes the friction from the upstairs apartment. Now the enemy can't move easily because he just keeps slipping all over the floor.

The enemy still manages to align himself over Josuke, but he uses another bubble to remove the enemy's sight, save for the ability to perceive light. That leads the enemy over the edge of the patio, where Soft and Wet finally captures him and pulls him into Kira's apartment. Now that he's on the same floor, his ability is neutralized. And he has some snakebite medicine in his pocket, so Josuke helps himself to some.

By this point, Josuke suspects that this guy is Yoshikage Kira, but he's not. His name is Ojiro Sasame, and he arranged this whole trap because he has a grudge against Kira. And now that he can see the man he's been fighting, he realizes that Josuke isn't Kira either. He has a photo of the real Kira, and while they wear the same clothes, the real Kira is a decade older than Josuke, and the face isn't quite the same. More importantly, their hands aren't quite the same, which can be proven by the scale replicas of Kira's hands which are on display in the apartment. According to Ojiro, Kira is such a narcissist that he had the replicas made for decoration.

So now some of the creepy stuff in the apartment becomes more clear. The photos of the kidnapped woman? Ojiro took those and made it look like Kira had tied her up. I'm not sure what the point of that was, unless he was planning to send the photos to Kira in case he never came back to the apartment.

See, he rented the apartment above Kira, then booby-trapped the whole place so that Kira would fall under his Stand's influence. But this was all like three days ago, and he was beginning to wonder why Kira hadn't shown up. Then Josuke arrives, wearing Kira's clothes, and he just put two and two together and got five.

However, Kira still seems to have plenty of his own creepiness. Ojiro took the bondage photos of his captive and left poisonous snakes everywhere, but he never admitted to stocking the cupboards with canned peas and wasabi, or putting a decades' worth of fingernail clippings in the medicine cabinet. That weirdness is all on Kira.

So why does Ojiro hate Kira so much in the first place? Well, he flashes back to when he first discovered his powers, and he used the ability to have "fun" while he was out surfing. He also mentions that his childhood home used to be where the Wall Eyes formed after the Earthquake, which suggests that this has something to do with how people get Stands in this story.

Anyway, Ojiro used his Stand to hold women underwater, directly under his surfboard, for his own amusement, sort of like he tried to do with Bathtub Woman in order to trick Josuke into using the booby-trapped drainplug.

Then he met Yoshikage Kira a doctor in the merchant marine, who could actually see his stand. They appeared to strike up a friendship, but Kira kept hounding him about his "job" as a surfer. Kira would ask him if he was a man of the sea or a man of the land. The way Ojiro tells the story, it sounds like this was what annoyed Kira about him, except Kira had seen his ability, and that pretty much has to mean he had seen Ojiro holding women under water until they nearly (?) drowned. I mean, maybe Kira was totally fine with that, but I doubt it. I think Ojiro just doesn't want to admit what this was really about.

Anyway, one night Kira got him drunk and drugged up and he managed to convince Ojiro to eat his own fingertips. Despite Ojiro burying the lede, I'm pretty sure Kira did this to punish him for his crimes against women, except... well, this didn't actually stop Ojiro, now did it? His Stand power still works, as we've just seen. Maybe Kira was expecting Ojiro to come after him and he was going to settle things once and for all in that final confrontation...

Except that final showdown never came, because Kira's been gone for three days and Josuke sprung Ojiro's trap in his place. Josuke asks Yasuho why she came back, and she brings up her dog again. Kira's apartment doesn't fit the dog's personality at all, so she doesn't think it fits Josuke either. But that still begs the question of what happened to the real Yoshikage Kira, and what connection, if any, he has to Josuke.

Their only clue is the photo Ojiro had, which shows Kira near the same spot where Yasuho found Josuke. So they go back and this time Josuke uses his power to remove the water, where they find a corpse. The authorities soon identify it as Yoshikage Kira's body, and Yasuho notes that while Josuke has four testicles, Kira's corpse has none.

As for Josuke, he was taken in by Joshuu's father, Norisuke Higashikata IV. I'm not sure if this was a formal adoption, but from here on out, our amnesiac protagonist will be known as Josuke Higashikata. This is a callback to Part 4, which was set in a different version of Morioh with a different Josuke Higashikata, but the similarities seem to end there. But if you're wondering why I'm tagging the character as "jo2uke higashikata", that's why. It's either that or "gappy", a nickname the fandom coined in reference to the space between his teeth.

Oh, and Bathtub Woman slipped out of the apartment before Yasuho returned, but she was still nude, so she tried to sneak to safety in a trash can, but... that hasn't been going well.

So just to sum up all the bizarreness...

Yoshikage Kira: Only eats peas and wasabi, makes evildoers eat their own fingers, collects his nail clippings for posterity, may or may not jerk off to the Mona Lisa.

Ojiro Sasame: Kidnaps women and holds them underwater for his own jollies.

Josuke Higashikata: Sleeps under the mattress like a weirdo. Uncanny ability to estimate distances and lengths.

Joshuu Higashikata: Deranged lunatic. Loser. Idiot.

Yasuho Hirose: Well, it turns out she's got a bite mark of her own, just like Josuke and Joshuu. That might mean something...

It wears a spiked choker and wristbands on each arm and what seem to be black boots, corresponding with Haruhi's wardrobe. Its arms appear to be covered by a grid resembling fishnets and it wears a garment resembling a harness. It is a silver color with its garments being black. Its skull is white. ⛧ stand ability: noise manipulation ⛧ ability description: Symphony of Destruction has the ability to manipulate sound to its will. This ability is rather versatile and can be used in many unique ways. By far the most destructive power of Symphony of Destruction is the ability to make sonic blasts out of surrounding noise, usually the user's own shout or any surrounding noise. The inverse of this power is the ability to cancel noise. According to Haruhi, it can only be used within a 5-meter radius and it drains her energy quickly. Symphony of Destruction's less powerful abilities include "sound playback" or the ability to replay sounds heard by the user, "vocal disguising" or warping the pitch and tone of someone's voice to sound like someone else, and "autotune", which is just used as a one-off joke. Despite the versatility of its abilities, Haruhi is not immune to them. ⛧ mother (Megumi Nakagawa): She's deceased now, but when she was alive, she and Haruhi had a very close relationship. She encouraged Haruhi to stand up for herself and do what makes her happy. Haruhi was also inspired by her background in music to compose and play her own music. When she died, Haruhi was completely heartbroken. She's still attempting to get over it. ⛧ father (Katsuro Nakagawa): The two are less close than Haruhi and Megumi, but Haruhi still loves Katsuro with all her heart. He was the one who sparked Haruhi's interest in horror and sci-fi (and the one who made her a huge nerd). Haruhi was born on November 5, 1983 in Saitama to parents Megumi and Katsuro Nakagawa. She was raised in a house of nerdistry, watching Star Wars and Star Trek when she was a kid. She was also raised among music, as Megumi was a retired city pop artist. She got her first guitar, a black Fender Dreadnought, when she was 6 and was taught how to play it by her mother. She gained an appreciation for alternative music in elementary school after she got into her mom's old cassettes and vinyl records. Still, her life wasn't all good. From second grade to the end of middle school, she was tormented by attention-seeking bully Fuyuko Goshima, both physically and emotionally. her parents told her to fight back and stand up for herself, but it never worked since Fuyuko's family was rich and managed to pay her way out of trouble. Aside from that, Haruhi was on the baseball team and very popular amongst her peers. In middle school, Fuyuko backed off after *finally* being suspended for kicking in Haruhi's nose. After that, Haruhi's life was mostly good... but not for long. On December 23, 1996, Haruhi and her mother were hit by a truck while on the way to a middle school Christmas party. Haruhi was in a coma for three days but eventually survived. Her mother passed away due to medical complications. After two years in physical therapy and a month-long court case against the driver of the truck, Haruhi and her father ended up moving to Morioh, a town by the sea in M prefecture. ...and then the fic starts.

I found a rip of best waifu from Diamond Records, so I decided to use that model here. Does anyone remember that game? JoJo app games seem cursed to end within like, four years. There’s not one left and it makes me very sad, as I really enjoyed Diamond Records, and Pitter Patter Pop was a comfort to me. I also enjoyed the art from Stardust Shooters. Alot of the time I find myself wanting to fiddle with something on my phone besides moecanchange, but I don’t anything like PPP anymore. u.u I hope someone out there managed to at least preserve all of the models from Diamond Records before we lost the game.
