con una mezcla de curiosidad y algo que podría confundirse con empatía contenida, le miró. su sinceridad, su aparente calma al admitir lo que cargaba, le pareció un reflejo de lo que ella misma intentaba ocultar bajo capas de indiferencia cuidadosamente construidas. no respondió de inmediato, dejando que sus palabras se asentaran en el silencio cargado que los rodeaba. ' no estoy segura de qué tan buena soy manejándola, pero supongo que es mejor que dejar que todo se derrumbe ' la honestidad de su voz llevó una vulnerabilidad medida, casi imperceptible, pero suficiente para demostrar que lo entendía más de lo que quería admitir.

cuando él ofreció una consulta, marcella sonrió levemente, un gesto breve y genuino que suavizó la tensión en su rostro. volverse un problema para el resto no estuvo nunca dentro de sus planes, moviendo la cabeza en negativa antes de decir: ' deberías reservar tus consultas gratis para alguien que realmente las necesite ' hizo un ademán despreocupado con una mano ' aunque aprecio el gesto ' sinceró.

el comentario sobre caminar lento le arrancó una risa ligera, más un escape de aire que un sonido real, pero lo suficientemente cálido como para romper parte de la barrera entre ellos. ' eso nos convierte entonces en dos personas incapaces de correr en este momento. deberíamos iniciar un club de apoyo ' sus palabras cargaron una especie de promesa tácita, muda. el mismo entendimiento que había extendido con el resto de las personas que, como ambos, habían sido afectados por por los sucesos.

cuando le escuchó presentarse, inclinó ligeramente la cabeza en un gesto casi solemne, manteniendo la expresión relajada en su rostro. ' marcella ' dijo, devolviendo el gesto. sus ojos se desviaron entonces hacia la ventana, donde la lluvia continuaba con su monótona danza. por un momento, pareció perderse en el sonido antes de hablar de nuevo: ' vamos, shin. pero si decides que las caminatas bajo la lluvia no son lo tuyo, no voy a tomármelo a mal ' una sonrisa ligera acompañó sus palabras, un intento de aligerar el ambiente.

Observó a la fémina, notando las palabras que se formaban en sus labios pero que nunca se atrevían a salir por completo. Había algo en su sinceridad, en esa admisión de no poder entenderlo, que le pareció mucho más auténtico que cualquier intento vacío de consuelo. Su ceja se alzó apenas, pero su mirada se suavizó levemente, como si esa pequeña chispa de honestidad lograra calar en su coraza endurecida. "No espero que lo entiendas." su tono no era brusco, sino resignado, casi neutral. "De hecho, creo que sería más preocupante si pudieras. Esto no es algo que nadie debería tener que entender." hizo una pausa, su mirada desviándose hacia la puerta como si esperara que de repente algo, o alguien, apareciera al otro lado. "Esperanza..." Repitió la palabra en voz baja, probándola en su boca como si fuera ajena. "Supongo que es lo único que queda. Aunque a veces se siente más como un peso que como un alivio, dejar las cosas al azar o la fe, en vez de hacerlas yo, es frustrante." movió su cuerpo para cambiar de posición, apoyando el codo sano en el borde de la mesa cercana.

Cuando escuchó su comentario sobre su propio estado, se giró hacia ella, sus ojos buscando los suyos, como si la escaneara para asegurarse de que esutivera sana. "Soy doctor, podrías aprovechar una consulta gratis." ofreció con gracia, dejando que la tensión dejara su cuerpo al menos por un momento. Una sonrisa suave se dibujó en los labios del estadounidense. "No quiero darte trabajo, todos estamos cargando nuestras cosas... Pero si irás, podría acompañarte, si no te molesta la compañía y caminar lento, no puedo ir tan rápido por mi herida." a pesar de que su herida era en el brazo, el moverse rápidamente de todas maneras le causaba dolor. "Me ayudaría salir de este lugar un rato. ¿Me he presentado ya?" pregunta, más para sí mismo que para ella, ya que no recordaba si le había dicho su nombre en algún punto, recordaba haberla visto una vez, en la fiesta del alcalde, estaba casi seguro. "Shin Jimin, pero usualmente me llaman por mi apellido, puedes usar el que prefieras."

for those that don't know, mapplethrope was a queer artist who used photography to explore sexuality. he used his photographs to explore themes of gender, sadomasochism, and how masculinity and femininity play together. he subverted so many ideas of gender and sex and love and what those concepts looked like to queer society, or to those that just didn't fit the common mold.

he eventually died of aids in 1989. some of his photographs:
