I know itâs your story and I would never actually demand that you write thisâŚbut I would kill for the technically polite but definitely bitchy back and forth that went on between Gerold and Otto while negotiating Alyssaâs and Aemondâs marriage settlement.
Otto, trying to get more dragonriders: And of course the children will have a chance to claim dragons of their ownâ
Gerold: And bankrupt ourselves feeding the damn things? Not all of us have access to the royal treasury, Lord Hand. The old war machine lounging in our backyard already eats plenty of our sheep. We donât want DRAGONS we want the Royce name to continue, with insurance that if theyâre only blessed with daughters they wonât have their inheritance swiped from under them.
Otto: Weâve made our position on the issue of inheritance clear. Andal tradition clearly statesâ
Gerold: Good thing weâre First Men then.
you want behind the scenes bits? this is exactly how you get extended cut bits with amazing notes like this you're blessing me with in my inbox!!
"Imagine having the gall to offer such a pithy sum for your own grandson," scoffed Gerold Royce, tossing the be-ribboned, embossed, stamped and thoroughly wax-riddled parchment down on the table heaped with older letters of the same nature.
Jeyne Arryn discarded one lap dog, shuffling over the black and white dust mop masquerading as a canine to sweet Jessa who sat sidelong making copies of Jeyne's backlog of correspondence. The blonde-haired beauty took Jeyne's offering of dog with a tutting noise and all the usual fuss she gave to each and every one of their animals.
Just as soon as one was out of her lap, another dog leapt up to occupy it. One of the golden, fluffy beasts Jessa favored. It circled her lap twice, crinkling her silk gown before declaring itself satisfied with a whuff as it coiled into a fuzzy lump.
It was the latest in a series of letters traded by raven between the Eyrie and the Red Keep. By now, the damned birds were so accustomed to the route that they fairly manifested in the Eyrie's rookery like clockwork.
Such had been the routine since dear Lyssie and the rest of the Royce household had quit Runestone to shuffle to the Eyrie, a united and centralized front in the bureaucracy that was dithering in marriage contracts with the likes of Otto Hightower for the past two moons.
Jeyne plucked up the letter Gerold discarded, scanning Otto Hightower's cramped, atrocious handwriting for the gist of what set Gerold off as particularly miserly in a series of other extraordinary concessions the Hand was making in the contracts.
No doubt Otto would expect something of Jeyne and the Royces for the gracious allowances he was making with these negotiations.
Still, it was gratifying to see all the written arm-twisting they'd executed pay off when Otto Hightower's hardline demands started crumbling away in the face of making this marriage happen for his grandson.
"I wonder how Prince Aemond would take it if he found out his grandsire is trying to offer him for less than a Tarly girl would fetch if she married a Fossoway..." she mused.
"Thoroughly put out, I'd imagine," Jessa chirped. Then, sobering, "...might we dress it up for Lyssie instead of stating plainly that it was such a low sum? Certainly it might be a bit...insulting to hear of that in trade for a bridegroom? This is all so very backwards! I'm not certain of how to put it, marriage sums for a man instead of doweries for a lady."
"Absolutely not," Gerold almost shouted that bit from down the table. "You've not seen my niece at a horse fair, Lady Redfort. The girl's an absolute fiend for bargains and she's likely to be over the moon for it. Aemond Targaryen at a bargain! I'll never hear the end of it from her when she's trying to wheedle me for bigger sums for the smithy budget."

the meadow in which you lay | 3
ser erryk cargyll x arryn!reader | chapter three: one for glory, another for honor
When Prince Lucerys's claim to Driftmark is question, your cousin seeks your support as a pillar of strength. It has now been a near six years since you've seen your lover, you are near strangers, but no different.
word count: 2.4k | warnings: criston cole is a bitch, alicent got ate up twice, sexual references, give the reader a damn s** t**, clear description of wounds and stitches | a/n: did i accidentally age down jeyne? yes. rip jeyne arryn you would have loved pride month. (i still believe jeyne would have been great friends with luke and jace in my always correct opinion). also, three posts back-to-back??
previous - next
taglist: @wolvestitches @holb32 @callsignwidow
"They mean to call Lucerys's claim to the Driftmark throne? What business do I have there?" you questioned your brother deeply, as Jeyne returned back from her walk with Jessamyn and greeted you both with kisses on your cheeks. "The Vale has Jeyne for it to be protected, I owe no business to defend the piss poor Hightowers" you continued.
"Rhaenyra, our cousin. If you can help her defend Luke's claim, they would not question defending her either" your brother reasoned, only leading your sinuses to burn and head to pound.
"Brother I know you mean well, but you know exactly what they think of our cousin and nephews" you responded, "And what treacheries Criston Cole rallies into Alicent's ear about me".
"And your paramour, Ser Erryk Cargyll" your brother quirked, only leading you to glare at him. "I believe it would strengthen your reputation and our cousin's".
"I or he would have to be married to be a paramour brother, watch your tongue".
"He is married to law Y/n, I only mean to protect you" your brother defended himself, "A Kingsguard is no-".
"No match for a husband, yes, I know and made acutely aware of said fact" you interrupted, "I do not need protection brother, I never needed protection" you continued, "I will go to court only if our cousin requests me to" getting up from your seat at the table and merely walking off until your brother spoke up.
"If you plan to avoid the knight, surely you can tell him by raven that you do not mean to continue your affections had you be in King's Landing" and with that suggestion came the fall of your heart, how deeply it shattered.
You simply nodded, not looking your brother in the eye after his suggestion, you could not. If you return to court, they will twist your words, they will make a spectacle about you just as they've done to your cousin. By proxy, they'll call into question the honor of your lover. He may have loved you, tasted you, and garnered your affections, by textbook, he broke no oath. By the conservative opinion of the Hightower's, he was a sinner, he had committed blasphemy.
That night you sat pondering on your vanity chair, cursing the gods for making you in love with a man you cannot have. As you toyed with the rings that laid on your fingers, you wondered if the world be different, if a wedding ring would be donned on them. A Kingsguard is no match for a husband, luckily you did not want to be matched to another. Who is to say you were a match to a wife, as the high lords sat like puppies to Otto Hightower, with the exception of the Vale, Riverlands, and the North. You once told Ser Erryk you loved him, you told a knight you loved him, words only a fool would utter.
You ended up returning to court as Rhaenyra summoned you, the journey more exhausting than last. Six years have passed, Rhaenyra's boys have grown into young men, Laena's daughters as beautiful as always. You had greeted them upon their arrival as they trailed just behind you.
"Forgive us for always meeting in the worst of circumstances cousin" Rhaenyra sighed, her stomach had homed another child, you hoped it'd be a girl, knowing Rhaenyra always wanted a daughter or sister, "You've seemed to be glowing".
"I believe it is the thick air cousin" you laughed, "Daemon" you nodded at the Prince.
"Have you seen him yet?" Daemon asked, only earning a confused look from you. "The King".
"They would not let me visit, though I am sure they would let the Heir and his brother see to his bedside" you answered Daemon, "You two visit, I will see to it that the children will be settled down". Both Rhaenyra and Daemon nodded to your kindness.
You signaled the children to follow you, it had been years since they step foot into the Castle. Lucerys and Jacaerys found their way to the Red Keep to evaluate the guards practice, you'd join them after showing Joffery to his quarters and Rhaena to her twin sister.
At the Red Keep you quickly saw Erryk and Arryk sparring one another, as well as the spectators flooding the floor to oversee Criston and Aemond sparring. The Prince disarmed the cocky bastard, you snickered only to be caught by the cocky bastard himself.
"Lady Arryn you seem to be fond of the Red Keep, would you like to spar with us men? We have heard of your fierceness in the fields, granted, we hope you are just as fierce in bed" Criston smiled smugly.
You smiled back before looking at your nephews "Fetch me a Morningstar boys, and a shield, for Ser Criston" you instigated, all eyes now landed on you, including the Cargyll twins.
"Morningstar? To a sword fight? Scared to be disarmed?".
"Oh no you wound me Ser" you laughed as Lucerys handed you the Morningstar and Criston the shield, "Only to prevent another bloody fight like you started at my cousin's wedding".
As you waved the Morningstar around, you blocked several hits from Criston, hitting his shield twice which resulted into breaking it in half. After which you disarmed yourself, handing the Morningstar back to Lucerys, you quickly tripped the knight with your legs and climbed on top of him, his hands situated at your waist before you violently dislocated his shoulder before putting it back into place. His screams shocked the spectators, but it was not until he pulled out a blade and stabbed into your thigh did they react.
"Enough!" Erryk quickly intervened, seeing the bloody mess that leaked from your thigh, the rage that coursed through your veins immediately translated to you removing the blade and stabbing into Criston's hand to pin him to the ground once and for all. Though Erryk must admit, your sheer violence to the knight was, well sexy, it did not discount your own injury and how that worried him.
"See to that the Lady Arryn is handled by the Maesters, Ser Criston as well" Arryk told several guards, you looked at your nephews with pride before speaking.
"Now that is how you get bloody revenge" they both laughed and beamed as Erryk carried you bridal style in order to maintain pressure to your wound, you caught a glimpse of Aemond as he had a look of shock. "Ser Arryk, please do not make a fuss of this to my cousin, granted Alicent might have my head for damaging her beloved whore".
Arryk only laughed at your words before Erryk swiftly walked through the halls, quick to enter your chambers and assess your wound that was bleeding profusely.
"You are mad at me" you spoke up as Erryk cleaned your wound, long minutes have passed since he undressed your bottom half of clothing, his hands were gentle but his gaze not, "Talk to me Erryk".
"Ser" he spoke up before cauterizing the wound in order to stitch, leading you to yelp out in pain and grip his free hand, "You could've gotten yourself killed Lady Arryn, you know well of Ser Criston's temper just as much as I".
"Well Ser, it was only a demonstration".
"You are a woman, a Lady no less, if one peeped to your brother, they would have his head on a spike in the Vale, granted the loves you gained in the North and the Riverlands would surely support his beheading" Erryk critiqued, before grabbing the needles and stitches, giving your legs another look.
"I know I am a woman, I know I am a Lady as well Ser Erryk" you fought back, "You want his head on a spike and hide behind the idea of my brother wanting to kill him, knowing fully my brother would not cause such hysterics unless he'd be backed by Rhaenyra and the bitch Hightowers were gone from court" you scoffed, only earning a small smile from the knight due to your obscenities. "Do not take your anger out on me Erryk, I know you better than anyone" you pleaded, the knight's quip to hurt you by not allowing you to refrain from politics and formalities.
He started the stitches before saying "Six years, I am near twice the man you left Lady Arryn" he started, one stitch fully weaved as you bit your lip to distract yourself from the pain, "Granted, I have never bedded a woman, nor have I sought the company of one seeing that I am bound to the King. I do not own lands and I know plenty of Prince Aegon's depravities. I know more of the histories of Westeros, better yet I know how to make the unmarried, fierce, who most claim to be barren, Lady Y/n Arryn, cum. I am a man, still the man you once loved" Erryk teased, weaving the second to last stitch.
"You take pride in the fact that you know how to get me off?" you chuckled, feeling the heat pool in between your legs.
"I take pride in the fact that you loved me" Erryk sighed, finishing the stitches before aiding you into dressing up and standing on your feet, "Though, I must say no food or sweet in the land can match the sweetness of you, Lady Arryn".
These past six years taught you more about restraint than you bargained for truly, if it were not for your wound and the oath being a vow of chastity, you'd wager that Ser Erryk would have already been spilling his seed in your womb, but, restraint.
"I still hold the same amount of love for you just as I did when we were younger" you told him, he shook his head once more as your confession rolled off your tongue, "I do not jest, I just know the repercussions that you can face. I can handle the great and smaller houses calling me a whore, I cannot handle you being exiled, perhaps beheaded for betraying an oath to the King".
Erryk stood there for a moment, afraid of his words betraying him and hurting you, "I'd give the King my neck if it meant you'd love me" he told you, his hand lightly grazing your knee, your pupils dilated as your eyes only focused on your lover. Emotions of love and pain in unison synchronized between the two of you, as if your energies converged with one another. Warmth and frost rushed through your blood.
"I love you, but that does not mean I am able to lose you like every wife who marries knowsâŚ" you started, when you marry one, the implication of death separating you when the gods take your lover is evident and prepared, "A life without you is not a life I want to live Erryk, you have taken my heart when I was barely a lady, now I am a woman and my loyalty to you never wavered- neither my pride".
A knock interrupted your conversation, causing you to jolt and Erryk to discard his hands from your body. "You may enter!" you cleared your throat, being met with Alicent.
Her eyes bore into your soul, she took notice to the knight in your chambers, "Back to your post Ser Erryk" she commanded, you took a glance at him, nodding for him to be eased into his dismissal. As he left, Alicent's lips pursed, you did not fear her no matter how much she wanted you to.
"You are excused from court Lady Y/n Arryn, may you begin your journ-".
"I did not come for you, Alicent" you interrupted, "I came to court for the likes and commitment to my dear cousin, not the Hightowers".
"Just your 'dear' cousin?" Alicent quirked a brow, "Or the lover you parade around who is clearly breaking an oath he made on his own, which should be punished as such".
"As such? What your father, the usurper, would have his head for simply being a trusted friend of mine?" you scoffed, staring back at her wildly, "Lay a finger on Ser Erryk or Arryk, you will be waging a war you and your father cannot fund or survive. You forget, we were never once sisters as you propagate everyone to believe, your victimization may work in the throne, but when it comes to one of the greatest houses, it falters".
Alicent smiled in fear as you were now face to face, "One day I hope we can be friends".
"I hope you find solace in the fact that we never will be. Your grace".
As you all gathered in the throne room to contest the ascension of Lucerys to the Driftmark seat, as Lord Corlys health was questionable, the tension was thick. You still wondered what Rhaenyra needed you for in the means of defending your nephew's claim. Vaemond's vile insults that led to Daemon slicing his head in half, bringing the arguments to a close as there was no one else to contest Lucerys parentage and claim.
"Will you join us all for supper cousin?" Rhaenyra asked as you walked towards the Godswood tree, "Please I would not be able to tolerate Otto and Alicent alone".
"Only for you cousin" you giggled, "I take she informed you of the incident in the Red Keep this morning?".
"How is your leg?" Rhaenyra implored, observing how your leg had a faint limp to it, "She also insinuated you and Ser Erryk were engaged in- rather sexual activities".
"I'd need more than a half hour with him Rhaenyra" you quipped, "Criston is a cunt, if you asked me, I would not let him take my maidenhead" you looked to her, she rolled her eyes at the remark.
"We all have our regrets; you chose the better knight".

A/N - I'm obsessed with this painting of the knight and the lady. It's so beautiful and represents Harwin and Daena so well
HOTD masterlist
"Not much can be said for the couple following years - Queen Alicent gave birth to another son, Prince Aemond in 116 AC. Once again, Princess Rhaenyra's status as heir was questioned, but the King ignored all the whispers at court.
On Driftmark, Prince Daemon wed Lady Laena Velaryon. Many took notice of this, as the wedding followed quickly after the death of his first wife, Rhea Royce. Not even a year has passed and the Rogue Prince found himself a second wife.Â
His daughter, Princess Daena, stayed shrouded in black for an entire year, following the death of her mother. The once vivacious princess was now a shell of her former self, refusing to eat or drink, barely sleeping, and confining herself to her chambers. Some believe she never truly recovered."Â
(Fire & Blood, Being a History of the Targaryen Kings of Westeros, by Archmaester Gyldayn)
~
116 AC
During the first two months after her mother's passing (before Rhaenyra's wedding), Daena visited the Eyrie, intending to speak to its ruling Lady, Jeyne Arryn. They discussed her inheritance and her new role as Lady of Runestone.
Daena knew that as Rhea's only child, she was the heir to Runestone and upon her mother's death, she became its new ruler. But there was just one problem. She was Daena Targaryen, not Daena Royce.
She had Royce blood. She was raised at Runestone and knew the castle better than any living soul and the Vale had a special place in her heart. But, she was a dragon. She was fire and blood. She loved her mother's side of the family dearly but, she could never part ways with her last name. She could never imagine herself as anything other than a Targaryen.
That is why she flew to the Eyrie and spent three whole days there, talking with Lady Jeyne for hours. She also reconnected with her distant cousin, Jessamyn Redfort, a 'dear companion' of Lady Jeyne.Â
~
Following Rhaenyra and Laenor's less-than-perfect wedding, Daena (with the King's permission) relocated to Dragonstone, where she spent most of her time, mourning. There was no way in the Seven Hells she would spend any unnecessary time at King's Landing, for she loathed the city. She also had no desire to go back to Runestone, even though it was her birth-given right and duty.
Ultimately, she settled for Dragonstone, the ancestral home of House Targaryen. Both she and her dragon loved the smoky air and gloomy atmosphere of the island. There, she could sulk in peace, without worrying about what the lords and ladies of the Red Keep would say.
With her, Daena brought Harwin and Hanna. Joy, the older and more outgoing of the two sisters, was married off to Ser Elmo Tully, the heir to Riverrun and the future Lord Paramount of the Riverlands. Initially, Daena was quite sad; she would miss Joy's lively spirit. But on further thought, she realized it would be a good thing to have one of her most trusted friends become the future Lady of Riverrun.Â
The months she spent on Dragonstone were quiet, peaceful, and healing. On the nearby island of Driftmark, her father and Lady Laena were wedded; not even half a year has passed and her father has already found himself a new wife. It stung Daena, the fact her father was so quickly able to move on from her mother's death as if she never existed. She did not attend their wedding.
But, Lady Laena was kind, beautiful, of pure Valyrian blood, and as of late, a dragon rider. Months before Rhaenyra's wedding, Laena claimed Vhagar, the largest dragon in the world. Vhagar was almost two hundred years old and was one of the three dragons Aegon I used to conquer Westeros. Only a bold spirit could claim such a beast and Laena proved she was worthy of riding the Queen of all dragons.Â
Harwin didn't know what to make of Dragonstone. The first time he laid his eyes on the island it was hidden by fog and mist, the smell of salt and smoke hitting his nose. The castle itself was a wonder to see; built by the last Valyrians, it was an homage to their once-powerful Empire. It was wholly non-Westerosi. Everything about it was made to honor and glorify dragons.Â
It was unnerving to live in, to say the least. A grim place, Dragonstone was built with arcane arts, fire, and sorcery. Draconic architecture could be found in every nook and cranny of the castle. Door handles, murals, candles, goblets, chairs, tables, mirrors, wall carvings, statues; the entire castle was shaped like one giant dragon. Harwin did not like the idea of living inside a dragon's belly.Â
But who was he to disobey his darling Princess?Â
Speaking of said Princess, she was leaning on one of the many balconies that were perched up on the walls of the castle. She seemed in deep thought, her gaze focused on the roaring sea. She looked so hauntingly beautiful, Harwin thought; her long silver hair was pulled up, and she was shrouded in black as she always was these days. Around her neck, she wore the Valyrian steel necklace her father gifted her.Â
He stood behind her, slightly to her right, watching, observing her. Her face was expressionless, but he could see so much pain and grief inside her lilac eyes. She drummed her fingers against the stone balcony.Â
"I wish to walk on the beach." She said quietly.Â
Harwin looked up at the sky - large, grey clouds were covering up the sun and it looked like it would rain any minute.Â
"Are you certain, Princess? What if it rains?"Â
"Then we'll be wet." She stated, turning to face him.Â
Her once lively face was blank, and Harwin couldn't help but notice how her new way of dressing made her look significantly older than she was. Before he could respond, she walked past him, quickly descending the long flight of stairs.Â
~
The bottom of her black gown dragged across the wet sand but she paid it no mind. The wind carried a scent of smoke and salt, something she enjoyed immensely. There was a certain coolness to the air which indicated to her it would rain soon. As someone who spent a lot of time high up in the air, she knew the telltale signs of an incoming storm.
"I received a letter from Joy this morning," Harwin said, breaking the silence.Â
She looked up at him. "You did? What does it say?"
"She says the Tullys are most hospitable and that they take great care of their future Lady."Â
Daena smiled at the news. She was glad the Tullys were taking good care of her friend.Â
"There's more," Harwin added and stopped suddenly.Â
Daena stopped as well, waiting for him to reveal more news.Â
"She is with child."Â
Daena was speechless. "That's wonderful! You're going to be an uncle!"Â
Harwin chuckled. "I suppose I will."Â
Daena's smile faded. "...I haven't received any letter from her since she moved to Riverrun. I think she's cross with me."
Harwin furrowed his brows. "Why do you think that?"
"Because...I didn't attend her wedding." She mumbled, nervously playing with her necklace.Â
Harwin chuckled once again. He took hold of her hand, kissing the inside of her wrist. Putting his other hand around her waist, he pulled her closer, their faces inches away. He placed his forehead against hers.Â
"It is not in my sister's nature to be resentful. It must have slipped her notice once she found out she was pregnant." Harwin said quietly, looking deeply into Daena's eyes. Her pupils were wide, making her eyes appear darker. She placed her other hand on his forearm.
"I- I suppose you are right." She whispered, her eyes falling to his lips.Â
He smiled at her, nudging his nose against hers, and kissed the side of her head. She sighed in contentment, placing her head onto his breastplate. The cool metal felt nice against her hot skin. He placed many small kisses on top of her head, holding her tightly against his body. He inhaled the scent of her hair - lemon and rose oil.
She felt her heart skipping a beat. Ever since her mother's death, she's been...distant and formal with Harwin, ignoring the way he looked at her, ignoring whenever he called her 'love.' In a way, she was punishing herself, abstaining from his touch, depriving herself of any joy.Â
Not anymore.
"Kiss me." She pleaded, looking up at him, her eyes full of desperation and desire.Â
Harwin was taken aback. They haven't had any intimate moments ever since Lady Rhea passed. Daena noticeably distanced herself, and he respected her wishes even though it broke his heart. And now here she was, begging for his love.Â
"Are you certain?"
Daena tsked and grabbed his head, pulling him down and connecting their lips. He stumbled a bit, not expecting her to react that way. He put his hands on her hips, squeezing her soft flesh. Her fingers were tangled in his dark curls, drawing him closer.Â
He grabbed the back of her head, deepening the kiss. He gently bit her lower lip, making her gasp in surprise, giving him further access to ravage her mouth. All the little noises she was making were spurring him on and he couldn't help but notice his pants tightening. Â
"Harwin..." She whined his name and it sent a shiver down his spine.
"The things you do to me, you pretty little thing...You don't even know." He groaned in her ear and the sound went straight to her core, making her clench around nothing. His hot breath made the hairs on her neck stand up.Â
"But I do...You have ignited a fire in my heart and it burns so sweetly I wish for it to burn forever. I wish for it to consume me whole."Â
His hold on her hips tightened and it ached slightly, but she didn't dare to move. A low growl left his throat as he inhaled her scent. "Those are dangerous words, little dove."
"I know you feel the same way." She whispered into his ear.Â
Before he could respond, the sky opened and rain started pouring from the clouds above. To her surprise, he picked her up and ran toward the castle. A gasp escaped her lips upon realizing her feet were off the ground.Â
For the first time in months, she laughed.Â
~
"WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?" Hanna screeched as she saw the Princess and her brother enter the castle, sopping wet.Â
"We were just taking a stroll on the beach," Daena answered innocently as Hanna dragged her toward her chambers.Â
"Quick, Princess! We must change your clothes or you'll get sick." Hanna rambled on as they reached the room's door.Â
Daena chuckled at her friend's worry. "No need to worry so much, my dear. I'll be fine."Â
Hanna clicked her tongue and shook her head in disapproval, catching sight of her brother. "You too, Harwin. Go and change."
"Why of course, my Lady," Harwin said with a smirk.Â
"I'm serious!" Hanna hissed angrily at her big brother.Â
"Alright Hanna, dear, I'm sure Ser Harwin can take care of himself. Now, come and help me get out of this dress. I'm positively soaked." Daena said, pulling Hanna by her sleeve.Â
"Congratulations on your sister's pregnancy," Daena muttered as Hanna massaged oils into her skin. The light of the now-waning sun trickled faintly into her bedchamber. The fireplace was lit, warming the room and adding additional light. Daena was ready to retire for the day.Â
"...You know?" Hanna asked, her voice coated with surprise.
"Harwin told me while we strolled on the beach," Daena said, leaning back in her bathtub.Â
Hanna stayed quiet.Â
"What's the matter?" Daena asked.Â
"Nothing, Princess."
"Hanna. I know you. You've been unusually snappy today. Something's bothering you. Won't you confide in me? I thought we were friends."
"It's just- Joy's pregnancy. It made me think of my own life."
"Yes?"
"I'm afraid Father will soon marry me off."
"Would that be a problem?"Â
"I-"
A knock on the door interrupted their conversation. Hanna wiped her hands, got up, and went to see who was knocking. Daena could hear the measter's hushed voice. Hanna was back with something in her hands.Â
"A letter for you Princess. From King's Landing."
A sigh escaped Daena's lips. She perched herself up, picked up a towel from the side of the tub, and wiped her hands. Hanna handed her the letter.Â
Her eyes went over the lines over and over again. A frown appeared on her face and an agitated groan left her lips. She crumbled the letter and threw it away.
~
The Princess was in a foul mood this morning, Harwin noticed. He could see it in her eyes, in the way her jaw was tense, in the way her brows were furrowed. Instead of talking, she sighed, clicked her tongue, and rolled her eyes at everyone. She was annoyed, dare he say angry.Â
Why? Harwin didn't know.Â
They were now in Aegon's Garden - it was filled with tall dark trees, wild roses, and cranberries. It had a pleasant piney smell. Daena sat down on a large bench made of black stone. She patted the seat next to her and Harwin sat down.Â
She took a deep breath, taking in the scent of all the wildflowers. "This was always my favorite part of the island. I like how quiet and peaceful it is here. I've never felt such tranquility anywhere else."
"... I'm sure you have noticed my less-than-pleasant behavior today. I'm sure you've wondered why that is."
She handed him a crumbled letter. "This is why."
Harwin's brows were furred as he read it. "So, what does this mean?"Â
Daena sighed, looking down at her feet. "It means that as soon as I finish my mourning, the Queen will try and marry me off to a lord of her choosing. She will whisper in my Uncle's ear, just like her father did. She'll try and convince him it's for my own good."
"I would sooner jump into Vermithor's mouth and let myself get eaten alive than let her control my life."
Harwin smirked. He knew she would do it.Â
"There is only one course of action I can take." She said, turning to face him.
"And that is?"
"I need to find a husband, by myself."
Harwin's heart skipped a beat at the mention of her marriage. It would be a lie to say he hasn't fantasized about marrying Daena, or at least offering himself as a candidate for her hand. He never verbalized those dreams because he never thought himself worthy of her hand, let alone her love.Â
"He will be one lucky man, whoever he is." He whispered, looking at a rose bush in the distance.Â
"Yes, yes he will be." She said pointedly while looking at him. She grabbed his hand once she realized he wouldn't look at her.Â
"...Princess?" Harwin uttered. He was overwhelmed by the feeling of her warm hands wrapped around his.Â
"Harwin..." She called teasingly. A wide smile was on her face, a glitter of determination in her eyes.Â
"You don't mean-"
"You, silly. I'm talking about you. Marry me, Harwin."
He felt like somebody punched him right in the gut, his lungs begging for air. His heart drummed wildly in his chest as he processed her words. Daena Targaryen, daughter of the Rogue Prince, rider of Vermithor, the most beautiful woman he has ever seen, was asking him for his hand in marriage.Â
"I'm not worthy of you."Â
Daena did not expect those words to come out of his mouth. Why would he think that?
"Why would you say such a thing?" She asked more harshly than she wanted.Â
He stayed silent.Â
"If not you, then who? Who is worthy of my love if not you, my brave knight?" She inquired, her voice softer.
"I-"
"Do you not feel the same way? You...you don't love me?" She finally asked, cutting to the heart of the problem. Her voice cracked, tears welling in her eyes. This was the first time they had a conversation about what they were to each other.Â
Harwin took note of the uncertainty in her voice and the fear in her eyes; fear that perhaps, she was wrong and he never truly loved her. He needed to put her mind at ease.
He got down on one knee and held her hands.
"There are no words in any language on this earth to describe how I feel about you, how much I adore you. You have...bewitched my heart, body, and soul. Even in my dreams, I could not escape you. Countless nights I have spent thinking about you, praying to every god imaginable, and thanking them that I get to spend my life serving you - my darling Princess, the one who holds my heart.
If you told me right now to fall on my sword, I would. If you told me to throw myself off the Wall, I would. I would kill for you. I would die for you. I would follow you to the ends of the earth. If you banished me and told me to leave your side, I would if it meant you were happy. Gods, I- I never thought this day would come but, will you marry me and be my lawful wife?"
~
She couldn't believe her ears. Or her eyes. She was beyond herself, to say the least.
"Daena?"
Her mouth was dry and her tongue twisted. His words struck a chord in her heart and she felt like it would burst out of her chest from how loudly it was beating. Tears blurred her vision and she could feel his calloused hand wiping them off her face.Â
"No tears, my love. This is a happy occasion, is it not?"
She only nodded, not trusting her voice. More tears ran down her face as realization of the situation set in her mind. Harwin loved her. He loved her. He asked her to be his wife.Â
"Come here, beautiful." He said as he pulled her onto his lap. She placed her head on his shoulder, the cold metal of his armor helped calm her down. He brushed his fingers through her silver tresses. He could hear her sniffing and her body shook slightly as she held onto his body tightly.Â
"Harwin?"
"Yes, Princess?" He asked, looking down at her.Â
"I love you." She whispered, a little pout on her pink lips.Â
"I love you too." He whispered back, kissing her softly.Â
They sat in silence for a while, holding each other and taking in the scent of wild roses. Little birds chirped high above them and the wind whistled. They stayed there until the sun went down and the moon showed its silver face.

Keep thinking about my Rhaena (Rhaenyra x Laena's daughter) x Mys Arryn (Jeyne x Jessamyn's daughter) omegaverse au, and I could thinking about Baela (alpha) and Helaena (omega) relationship (they are married in this au). They will be frolicking beneath the weirwood, and Helaena will say some insane shit that throw off Baela. Like:
Baela: I think that cloud looks like a ship!
Helaena: oh yes... and he should gain a beast who as temperamental and spiteful and apathetic on his own kin.
Baela:
But Baela will also be like "wait a second..." and start carrying parchment with her.
Baela: *just vibing with Helaena*
Helaena: Beware who lurks in the clouds.
Baela:

I have caved even though I am so indecisive. Please tell me about whatever platonic & romantic relationships you think would be the most interesting with your OCs & Seal Mommy Aldreda. i must know
Mwahahaha yes itâs Seal Mommy time
Kaleb x Aldreda (x Alicent)
Theyâre totally friends with benefits, maybe a little more. Kaleb would find her SO hot. I mean, come on, we all know he has a thing for milfs. But he would also be very intimidated. Heâd seen her from afar as Master of Ships, but they wouldnât actually meet until he accidentally walked in on her and Alicent one time. She probably threatened to kill him to keep quiet, but he swore not to say anything and Alicent would have stopped her anyway. And thereâs probably a time that Aldreda has done the same with Kaleb and Alicent. Somewhere along the way the lines blur and they become an unofficial throuple. No one messes with Alicent with those two around, thatâs for sure.
He would probably offer to marry her just to support her claim against her crazy relatives but wouldnât be offended if she said no.
âOh youâre the heir to your familyâs seat but also a hot and badass milf who is love with the queen? Thatâs great because I too am the heir to my house and am hot and badass dilf and in love with the queen. This works out great! Wanna be allies and maybe hold hands and make out???â - something Kaleb said, probably
(Jeyne and Jessamyn art by @riotarttherite)
Aeriana x Aldreda
They would burn down the world together. Aerianaâs a little unhinged and definitely not a typical noble woman, and Aldreda certainly isnât either. Aeriana would pull up with her dragon to destroy her gfâs enemies and that would be that. Feral women supporting feral women. Thatâs it. Thatâs the post.
Tristan + Aldreda
Tristan probably shouldnât be going to Aldreda for advice but he so would. She is so unlike anyone else in Kingâs Landing that he would be drawn to her above anyone else on the council and would trust her thoughts and opinions more than most because she has an outside perspective and he at least thinks he can trust her over anyone else. Plus, he just thinks sheâs really cool.
She might be one of the only people he confesses to about his affair with Helaena, and then heâd probably ask for advice on what he should do not thinking that it might not be the best idea lol.

So I'm gonna post the alicole fic tomorrow, but it's Pride Month, and I refuse to post only two straight ships (even if I believe the women are sapphic) it's a bad look. So I'm gonna write a sapphic one shot or two, and like always you get too, I'm making a poll for it.
The two most popular get it.

So many Rhaenicents VIOLENTLY HATE Rhaenyra but thereâs no other ship for them to turn to cause Alicent does not have any other friends which is so funny to me. No one can stand her annoying ass, boring, and jealous ass đ
Headcanoning her as a lesbian wonât make her a complex or fleshed out character, and it wonât make her usurpation of a female heir in favor of an incompetent and sadistic serial rapist any less reactionnary & abhorrent, yâall are so fucking delusional and stupid.
Canât wait to see Jeyne Arryn and Sabitha Frey, HOTD will FINALLY have lesbians.
If they wanted lesbian in season 1 they could've introduced Jeyne Arryn and Jessamyn Redford or explore the Laena X Rhaenyra relationship. But they didn't want lesbians, they wanted to queerbait with their shitty fanfiction.

Do you think they will show Jace meeting with Jeyne Arryn and her âdear companionâ wife Jessamyn Redfort? I am worried they might skip over that part to get to Winterfell sooner. I really hope they donât skip it. I know that people are anxious to see him go to Winterfell but please donât skip over Jeyne x Jessamyn. For some reason I really thought they were going to send Baela to Jeyne in the show. I would LOVE to see more of Baela! I mean, maybe she even gets a sapphic sexual awakening while sheâs there I donât know?Â

[...]Lady Jeyne Arryn, the Maiden of the Vale, died at Gulltown of a cold that had settled in her chest. Forty years of age, she perished in the Motherhouse of Maris on its stony island in the harbor of Gulltown, wrapped in the arms of Jessamyn Redfort, her âdear companion.â (Fire & Blood)
They told the story to one another on every anniversary of their first act of coupling. Some of the details would be spiritedly contested (no, it certainly did not happen that way, one would say, while the other would insist, of course it did, it most certainly did) or misremembered (a first kiss that lasted barely the space of two breaths became a long, lingering kiss that left them both gasping for air), but the essence of it remained the same, always.
The essence of their story, of their love and intimacy, of their bond and trust. Jeyne and Jessa. Jessa and Jeyne. The Maiden of the Vale and her more than just âdear companion.â
âOnce there was a lonely girl who lived high up the mountain, in the castle Eyrie,â Jeyne would begin.
âA ruler of a great land since she was three,â Jessamyn would continue, with a grin as wide as saucer.
âIt is not a song or a poem. It does not have to rhyme,â Jeyne would tease.
âMy stories always rhyme,â Jessamyn would reply, with mock-outrage. Â
The guardian of this lonely girl (who was also the regent and lord protector of her land during the years of her minority) brought many girls from the noble houses sworn to the Eyrie to be her companions. These girls, most of them having brothers, were expected by their families to extol and promote the virtues and attractions of those brothers in front of the lonely girl, with matrimony in mind.
âIs your brother as clever as you? As kind? As thoughtful? As gentle? As bold? As witty? As spirited? As funny?â Jeyne would ask of every girl, changing the descriptions to fit the special virtues she had observed of each girl.
âMy brother would make a poor consort to the ruling Lady of the Eyrie,â Jessamyn had replied bluntly, when it was her turn to be asked the question. âHe is not made to be any womanâs consort. He would want to rule through you, not beside you.â
âI will suffer no man to rule either through me or beside me, when I am of age, vowed Jeyne.
âBut you will have to suffer a husband in your bed.â
âWill I?â
âWe must. Every woman must, whether she likes it or not,â said Jessamyn, with heavy resignation.
âEven if she prefers a woman in her bed?â
âEven then. This is the world we reside in, and there is no other, not while we still draw breath.â
Last night I dreamed of my last breath being drawn in your embrace, with your arms holding me tightly, thought Jeyne, the day Jessamyn left the Eyrie to be wed. And now that could never happen.
A husband dead of a burst belly three years later brought Jessamyn back to the Eyrie, this time as Jeyneâs lady-in-waiting. A gaggle of squabbling suitors intent on besting one another became Jeyneâs best tool for avoiding matrimony. Conflicting rumors thrived and flourished about the Maiden of the Vale. Some said that she would not wed because she would rather have ten men in her bed instead of only one. Other claimed that she would not wed because she would rather have ten women in her bed instead of one man. The numbers seemed to increase with each passing year, and the supposed voraciousness of her sexual appetite became more exaggerated with each telling of the rumors. Â Â
She would not wed because she did not wish to risk becoming a husbandâs catspaw, and she had seen too many women brought down by a manâs quest for glory. She would not wed because she only wanted one woman beside her, in her bed and elsewhere, the only person in the world she trusted to share all her secrets and all her troubles.
Both of those things were equally true for Jeyne Arryn.
