there's something comical about Heritageposts' "blocklist" of Jewish blogs (on which my blog is listed), which consists entirely of Jews, plus some people who have been vocal allies to the Jewish community on Tumblr. (i love you all!)

Heritageposts is a known antisemite (i blocked them months ago for their explicit Jew-hatred), and they have clearly been collecting the names of Jews who have been speaking up about the tidal wave of Jew-hatred that we've been receiving from antisemites.

any Jew, and any non-Jewish ally, who speaks out loudly enough about antisemitism, Heritageposts adds to their list.

and ... i think this little piss-ant actually believes that a blocklist is going to intimidate a group of Jews into silence!!

I had a really frustrating experience last night where someone I know locally through a hobby community shared a post on their instagram story that contained an antisemitic term paired with using an anti-zionist boycott to frame buying bootleg collectibles as a moral imperative. (For context, our hobby has a massive problem with bootleg collectibles.)

I reached out to them and told them the term was antisemitic with my reasoning for why it was antisemitic as well as the opinion that buying bootleg items during a boycott violates the spirit of a boycott, and it was hypocritical to be against bootlegs in our hobby but encourage people to buy bootlegs of other luxury items. They took it well (I guess) and thanked me for explaining why the term was problematic, but said they hadn't really thought about how encouraging people to buy bootleg goods was hypocritical - they just thought the post was "funny".

Their literal next post was a meme featuring a character from the exact same media property they posted about boycotting.

And you also need to know the history of this phrase. It speaks to the Jewish people's survival during more than 2000 years of persecution, and especially during the Holocaust.

When the Jews of Bergen-Belsen concentration camp were liberated on April 20th of 1945, they sang Hatikvah. At the end of the anthem, British Army Chaplain Rabbi Leslie Hardman, cried out, “Am Yisrael Chai! The Children of Israel still live!”

So when you Jew-haters speak ill of this phrase, what you are REALLY saying is, "Hitler should have killed more of you." And you can go fuck right off into the sun!
