OMG!!! I'm truly in shock! I just found out Jazz stylist Al Jarreau dies at 76, just days after retirement. One of my hero's in music. He would've been 77 yrs old next month. Although All Jarreau will be missed, his musical legacy lives on. #jazzandsoul #jazzstylist #original

Happy birthday to one of the greatest #jazzandsoul singers of all times the true #songstress Ms. #anitabaker born 01/26/1958. There's no words that describe how phenomenal she is! Her music is timeless. It never gets old. She's one those singers that can literally sing the words from a dictionary and make it a hit song! Thank you for 20+ yrs of amazing music! #songstress #rapture #givingyouthebest #compositions #rhythmoflove #myeverything and her hit single, #Lately. I truly hope the rumors are untrue about her retirement. The world still needs new music from Ms Anita Baker!

Jon Lucien (January 8, 1942 – August 18, 2007) was a #jazzandsoul #fusionist vocalist and musician, born on the island of #tortola the main island of the British Virgin Islands. Born Lucien Harrigan, and raised in Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands by his musician father, Lucien was best known for his song "Rashida", the title track of an album released in 1973, and one of two Grammy nominated songs on that album. He was also well known for his cover of "Dindi" by Brazilian composer Antonio Carlos Jobim. His smooth baritone drew comparisons with Nat King Cole and Lou Rawls. He was often heard on traditional #jazzstations in the United States such as #WJZZ in Detroit, Michigan (now #WDMK). I had the pleasure of hearing him sing #dindi at the Berkeley Jazz Festival back in 2007. His mesmerising vocals and phrasing were magical. He leaves behind a musical legacy of recordings after his passing that same year. If you've never heard of him, I encourage you to check out him out for yourself. I'm definitely a fan for life! #rip #jonlucien #malevocalist #jazz #jazzandsoul #fusionist #contemporary #jazzvocalist #latinjazz #africanrhythm #barritone #legendary #jazzmaster #jazzlegend #improviser #scatsinging #completemusician #composer #bandleader #romanticstyle #bossanova #samba #jazzstandards #legacyliveson (at San Francisco Bay Area)

#happybirthday Kim Owens (born July 23, 1969), better known by his stage name Kem is an American R&B/Soul singer–songwriter, and producer. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, #KEM was raised in Detroit, Michigan. After finishing high school, KEM dealt with homelessness, addiction, and isolation from his family. He did not overcome these issues until he turned to spirituality and music, as he has said, "My career didn't take off until I connected with my spirituality. That's why I take time on stage and on the album to administer spirituality to people. That's one of the things that I am most proud of." Kem is also very well received by older listeners of R&B/Soul for his classy sound and not incorporating elements of Hip-hop music. He wrote, produced, and financed his self-released debut album, Kemistry, with his American Express card and singing top 40 cover tunes in a wedding band and waiting tables. He was later signed by Motown Records in November 2001, who re-released the album on February 25, 2003, and sold more than 500,000 copies nationwide. The album's only official single was "Love Calls". He followed his debut release with a second album, Album II, released May 17, 2005 and sold more than 500,000 copies nationwide. It included the hit single "I Can't Stop Loving You," a # 1 at urban adult contemporary radio, and the song "You Might Win" featuring Stevie Wonder on harmonica. Not only are we celebrating a great artist we're celebrating real music from this great artist. Happy birthday @Kem! #smoothjazz #jazzandsoul #grownfolksmusic #grownandsexymusic
