Since Jay proposed to Nya and almost accidentally accepted Kai’s (practice) proposal, that means he moved to both smith siblings. Who’s to say that since his new forbidden minifig is with Morro’s in the leaked new set, that he won’t be trying to move to both of the Wojira duo too.
And its because he also looks similar to Nya, like how Kai does.
Jay: man for some reason you look really attractive.
Morro, who looks similar to early seasons Nya: what the hell.
Bonus+
Jay: i really wanna make out with you for some reason :(
Morro: you are a MARRIED MAN.

Put Through the Ringer (Chapter 1)
[Chapter 1 - you are here!] // [Chapter 2] – (FFN) (AO3)
Summary:
"Right now, I don't know if I want to kiss you or shove you off this bridge." "Uh… can I pick?" (Alternatively: Nya is mad at Jay on their anniversary, but he has a sort-of explanation.)
With a waterfall behind them and clear skies above, Jay and Nya faced each other, both standing on a simple bridge. It was above the basin which the waterfall fed, with mist often thrown up to create the most exquisite rainbows. It was a lovely setting, and if it weren't for earlier events that day, they might have been seen enjoying it and their anniversary. However, that wasn't quite what was happening, as Jay was currently being put through the ringer.
"Right now, I don't know if I want to kiss you or shove you off this bridge," Nya fumed, facing Jay and the waterfall behind him.
Jay laughed nervously, looking behind himself at the turbulent waters below, with the bridge's edge not more than three feet behind him. "Uh… can I pick?"
She growled. "No, Jay! No, no you can't." She pointed up at him, already in his personal space, only a foot away from him. "I just can't believe you. You didn't tell me you were in there?"
"Of course I didn't tell you! It was a surprise!" He readjusted his footing, trying to get more secure. "Come on, Nya. Let me step away from the edge, and I'll explain."
"You'd better." She stepped back to the center of the bridge, allowing him a little more space, which he took in relief.
"I will." He sighed. "I'm just– let me appreciate stable ground for a minute." He took a few moments to do just that with closed eyes, all the while withstanding her withering glare, and then finally nodded. "Okay. Okay, stable ground appreciated."
"Good." She crossed her arms, more unmoving than a brick wall. "Now would you be so kind as to explain why you were snooping in my room and my things?"
He blushed. "I wasn't snooping! I was looking for something!"
"That's the same thing, Jay! Why were you looking in my things?! What happened to 'respecting privacy?'"
"Okay, I know it sounds bad, but I can explain why, okay?" He frowned, wanting to reach out to her, but knowing it wouldn't help. "See, I heard this thing about how you can approximate someone's ring size using their shoe size. I didn't know if it was accurate, but I figured it was good enough, so I tried with mine, and it worked. Perfectly!"
She raised an eyebrow, not following much at all. "And?"
"And… I wanted to… surprise you." He hung his head a little. "I saw a ring I knew you'd like. It's really pretty, and I wanted to get it for you, but the place selling it doesn't do resizing. You get the size you need, and that's it. I still wanted to surprise you, so I figured I could use your shoe size to figure it out. The only shoes you leave in the coat closet don't have tags, though, so I had to use a different pair."
She nodded. "All my other ones are kept in my bedroom closet."
"Exactly!" He looked back up at her. "I didn't know they were in the closet, though, so I looked everywhere I could think of. I didn't want to look anywhere too personal, but I accidentally did, and then I got out of there immediately, and it was too late, and then you came in, and– and–"
She sighed heavily, covering her eyes with a hand. "You bolted."
"…Yep." He looked away, blushing in embarrassment. "I'm really sorry, Nya. I didn't mean to intrude on your privacy. Especially not on our anniversary."
It took her a minute to collect her thoughts enough to speak, mostly wondering about why it had to be such a mess that came of sweet intentions. "Okay. I forgive you. No pushing you off the bridge."
His heart almost stopped for a moment. "Really?"
"Really." She looked up at him and smiled. "Just don't ever do it again."
He grinned back at her. "Consider it done. Never accidentally snooping in your private things again, promise."
"Good." She reached out to touch his face, then kissed him softly, enjoying how he immediately responded. "Just so you know, I wear women's nines."
He blinked, refocusing. "What– oh, you wear size nine?"
She smiled, admiring his electric blue eyes and how they darted around. "Yes, I do."
"Oh!" He grinned. "Okay! Size nine, gotcha– I'll just go and do that!" He laughed a little. "That's exactly what I needed!"
She giggled a little. "You know, you and I could just go and get professionally sized. Since I ruined the surprise and all… we might as well."
He nodded. "Oh yeah. We could do that. That would work better anyway, wouldn't it?"
"It would." She took his hand, threading their fingers together. "Then I can get you a ring in the future too, maybe."
"Sure!" He smiled, admiring how their hands fit together tightly. "I know I'd like anything you got me."
"Likewise." She smiled back. "In fact, want to go do it today?"
"I'd like nothing better!" He kissed her hand, playing up the part of a gentleman. "Shall we, my lady?"
She giggled a little as they began to walk, heading to Jay's car, parked only a few hundred feet away. "Yes, we shall." This was a nice way to spend their anniversary; three years really was worth celebrating, after all. Nobody could say Jay had bad taste, anyway… she wondered what this ring looked like.

Wow, you're the beta reader for bbnb? I didn't know that. (So you can confirm that Hat is infact not dead because I haven't seen any activity from them in a while and my brain always jumps to worst case scenarios)
Anyway, definitely didn't forget to respond for like a week, but here are some of my theories/scenarios:
-I still think Cole's the one who'll remember bits and pieces because A. He's a ghost B. Hat used he/him when talking about who will remember and C. It would be incredibly emotionaly impactful
-HOWEVER, I think Pixal could also remember some stuff. None of the emotional stuff but she did technically die when Nadakhan erased her. Besides, it could be fun to see her try to let Jay or Nya know she remembers while still stuck to Zane.
-also Zane's falcon died but he was never mentioned in this fic so 😔
-Jay DEFINITELY has c-ptsd. Like, 100%, I'm sure the nurse/psychologist whose name I forgor would agree with me
-I'm pretty sure Wu just died by some falling island or something like that. Or he could've died by the storm, that would be cool.
-I know he said that swearing is a sign of weak verbal skills but I feel like Jay would start swearing more for comfort. Like, Nadakhan hated it but never truly did anything horrible to him because of it :)
most of the scenarios in my head play out with the ninja being captured again
-for example, Jay using his internal electricity to shock someone when they all have vengestone
-or them getting tazed and Jay sending the current back like he did in the electric chair
-or they're all traped and saying shit like "there's no other option" or something and Jay replying with "suicide's still an option" like that's a normal thing to say which obviously worries the others
And then there's the non captured scenarios
-something something Jay falling into autopilot after being told/asked to clean to ship and ends up also cleaning the hull "Why are you cleaning the bottom? We're in the air and you're not even tied to anything???" ".... trauma response?"
-or just straight up Jay having a panic attack out of seemingly sowhere (Cole said he wished he could eat cake again)
Anyway, those are the things I could think of right now, there's more but it's 3:39am and I'm tired :3
Hope it's not too long lol
Yep! As of ch 15. Me and hat have been chatting for a while and I bug them for feedback on Art accuracy so I help them with some writing corrections too!
I have been working on beta reading earlier chapters as well currently half way through 4. It is certainly an experience but now I yell my feelings into comment instead of just the void
*reaches through horrific horror to correct spelling mistake.
Yup Hat is alive! They were just fixated on something else for a while but they are back.
Ok now for scenarios
-Cole remembering bits……. I will refrain from giving my thoughts.
-Pixal and Zane’s falcon died pretty early so I do think they may remember up till then but It probably wouldn’t help understand much.
-I don’t think Wu died? But it’s not impossible.
-CPTSD?
Tumblr media
I will ask hat about this one but seeing as bbnb events qualify as at least 4/6 of these causes of it AND ptsd is a tag I’m going to give it a yeah. Cause non complex ptsd is typically less prolonged.
-the swearing I do think he might do more but not necessarily for comfort
-For your head scenarios I am not sure all the ways hat is planned show how the events of the fic messed him up. But I know they’re a big fan of consequences for events…
From what I’m guessing he is going to be trying his best to hide everything and it’ll be somewhat canon compliant? But to be fair He is pretty consistently the most mentally unstable ninja. Take This with a big grain of salt I’m saving the analysis for my skybound video, but his behavior does generally line up well with SA surivers. the first time that Jays a prisoner post Skybound is when he says “You don’t argue with a man who’s navel is that close”
Which
Drives me insane by the way
Side tangent, I’ve been doing a lot of Skybound digging for my eventual video essay. And my current best theory on why this is a line has to do with SA of men being played for laughs.
Like older audiences are supposed to hear that and find it fucking funny. It’s unfortunately not uncommon in kids programming. My quest to best explain why S6 is so uncomfortable has been… enlightening. Terrified of approaching a controversial topic so I have been learning a-lot about approach and how to not be awful. But my fixation is being channeled led into the eventual Skybound video.
Hope I answered what you wanted to know and It wasn’t purely my Adhd rambling

a talk
" As Nya and Jay finally start planning their wedding, Nya is haunted by memories of darker times. Ironically enough, Jay is the only person who could possibly understand what she's going through.
or, ninjago writers dont bring up their skybound trauma enough so im taking matters into my own hands. "
relationships: jay/nya, nya & kai, cole & jay tws: hurt/comfort, flashbacks, skybound trauma wc: 1821 extra: set sometime between the end of crystallized and the merge!
read on ao3!
Kai sat down on the bed.
“Come on, spit it out.”
Nya glanced at him, barely turning her head. She laid on her bed in the monastery, and had been staring at the ceiling for quite some time before Kai came in. He looked at her expectantly, an eyebrow raised and his head tilted towards her. She sighed.
“What are you talking about?”
She asked only half heartedly; she knew more than enough that Kai wouldn’t take her avoidance as an answer. Nya sat up, and stared at her own hands, fidgeting in her lap.
“You know what I’m talking about.”
Of course she knew. With another sigh, she looked back at Kai and took his expression in: behind the surface-level annoyance, she could see worry. Of course he’d be worried about her, she thought, especially since she’d been acting unusually in the past few days, if not weeks.
Nya glanced back down before speaking up.
“I don’t think you’d be able to help. Don’t worry about me too m-”
“Does it have to do with your and Jay’s secret?”
Nya froze. Her eyes widened, and her mouth fell open for a few moments. She looked at Kai, her eyebrows furrowing in silent confusion. Perhaps her expression was what prompted him to speak up again, elaborating on his statement.
“You know, the thing you two keep trying to be secretive about?? When you exchange glances, giggle together, and whatever.”
She blinked.
“You noticed??”
“Uh, I think we all noticed, Nya.”
“Oh.”
This was unexpected. Nya sighed again and shook her head, leaning her head back against the board of her bed.
“Yeah, it is.”
Kai nodded. He seemed to take it better than Nya had imagined; though maybe that was because he’d already known she was hiding something from him. Well, it wasn’t like it had been the first time she kept secrets from Kai, or the rest of the team. But he certainly had reacted better than he did when he found out she was Samurai X. She was somewhat thankful.
She felt a hand rest on top of hers, and looked back at Kai to see him looking directly at her. His face had become much more caring; but Nya knew him. She could tell he wasn’t entirely enjoying the fact that she wouldn’t talk to him. Nonetheless, he still tried to put those feelings aside and give her advice.
“Then maybe you should talk to him, if it’s bothering you this much. Sulking over it on your own isn’t gonna solve anything.” He shrugged.
Nya smiled. She knew he was right, it wasn’t like she hadn’t thought about doing it. It just wasn’t an easy topic to bring up, for either of them. In all the years that had passed since then, they had only really talked about it twice; and only because they had been having worries about it.
Which, technically, was the case here too.
She nodded at Kai, thanking him and intertwining her hands with his. He smiled back, pulling her in for a hug, or the closest thing to a hug they could manage in their current position, leaving them both laughing about it. Soon enough, he left her room, leaving Nya alone once again to her thoughts.
She looked down at her necklace. Although she didn’t like to wear it when fighting or practicing - jewelry during a fight is practically a direct ticket to choking, she wore it almost every other time. Which wasn’t a lot, now that she thought about it, but it was still enough to be significant to her. The necklace had her yang pendant on it, the one Jay had given her when he proposed to her a few years back. She gazed at it fondly, playing with it with her hands.
A few moments later, she had made up her mind. She would talk to Jay about this entire situation, and hopefully they would get past it. Finally. She knew deep down that, obviously, a talk wasn’t going to make their shared trauma disappear, but hopefully it would make her feel better, for now at the very least.
Today was an off day for the ninja; meaning Jay was most likely to be found either on the couch playing video games, or in the kitchen snacking on something. As soon as Nya walked into the living room, a smile crept onto her face and she chuckled to herself. It seems living with the same people for so many years really makes you aware of their daily habits, she thought.
She approached the couch, leaning her hip against as she crossed her arms to look over the scene in front of her. Cole and Jay were going at it, intensely focused on whatever game they were playing - looks like Prime Empire , she thought - to the point they hadn’t even noticed she was here. A bit further away, sitting at the table, was Lloyd, absentmindedly fiddling with his phone. He however, seemed to notice Nya, acknowledging her presence with a short glance.
Nya glanced back at the screen as she heard shouts, seeing the “LEVEL PASSED” screen she had expected. She watched Jay and Cole high five each other, before Jay raised his head and seemed to finally notice her presence. His face beamed, and he grinned at her. His excitement must have been visible to Cole too; since the older man decided to turn around, and smiled as well upon seeing her.
They invited her to play; she shook her head no, before looking back to Jay and calling him to get his attention.
“Do you mind if we have a talk?”
Nya could feel time stop as she spoke, watching Jay gulp and anxiety flash in his eyes. She quickly added:
“I’m not mad at you, I just wanna discuss something. It can wait though, if you’re busy.”
Nya gestured at Cole and the TV vaguely. Jay nodded and put his controller down, standing up and walking towards her.
“It’s fine! I can play later.”
Before Nya could drag him away though, he turned back to Cole and shouted, an accusatory tone lacing his voice.
“You better not play any more levels before I’m back!!”
Nya laughed at their antics. She could vaguely hear Cole respond something as she made her way down the hall, back to her room. She stood in the doorway until Jay appeared in front of her, and dragged him inside. She pushed the door closed behind them, sighing.
“Is something the matter?”
Jay was the first to speak up. He tilted his head to the side, moving to grab Nya’s hands in his.
“You’ve been acting weird for a few days… Did something happen?”
Nya stared at him for a few moments. She stared deep into his beautiful ocean eyes, her lips pursed. Jay’s eyebrows had furrowed, concern etched all over his face. Finally, she took a deep breath and spoke up.
“It’s about Nadakhan.”
She could see Jay’s breath catch in his throat, and his eyes widen. He took a deep breath as well, and squeezed her hands in his. His face looked a lot more serious than a few seconds ago as he urged her to continue.
“Okay.”
“Kai told me to talk with you about it. Well, about my worries, more precisely, but they’re about what happened with him.”
Jay nodded, a sign for Nya to keep talking.
“I’ve been getting… flashbacks. Of when I was with him. Especially since we’ve been talking about actually organizing our wedding, and all, I just… I keep seeing myself in Delara’s dress again, and getting nightmares about it over and over and it’s just-” She stopped herself to sigh. “That’s… about it.”
Sometime through her rant, Nya started looking at the floor with a frown on her face. Her hands held Jay’s tightly, and he could tell that she would be clenching her fists, had he not been holding them.
He released one of her hands to cup her face, a shaky smile forming on his face to try and comfort her.
“I mean, it’s pretty understandable, you know? I’d be scared too if I had been forcibly married to a thousand year old djinn at 13 and then possessed by his dead girlfriend.”
Nya laughed. Jay’s smile widened.
“And like, if you want, you don’t have to wear a dress. We don’t even have to get married yet!! I mean we’ve been waiting for both of us to be ready for it, so if you’re not ready yet then I’ll wait more!”
Nya looked back at him with a smile. She felt tears well up in her eyes. Jay was right; there was no reason for them to rush things, after all.
“You’re right. Thanks. And I do wanna get married, don’t get me wrong… I guess I’d forgotten I can just not wear a dress.”
Her hands moved up to wipe her eyes, and she felt Jay grab her face with his own. He looked at her, his eyes shining, and his thumbs gently caressing her cheeks.
“Can I kiss you?”
She nodded, and he leaned in to crash his lips on hers. Nya felt Jay grin into their kiss, and she could see his face growing pink. After they pulled away from each other, Jay rested his hands on her shoulders and looked away, coughing to try and regain his composure. After he failed, as he usually did - for some reason, even after being together for half a decade, he was still a nervous wreck everytime they kissed -, he spoke up once more.
“You’re not alone in this. I’m here for you and, uh, I’ll do my best to support you through all this.” He gestured vaguely with his hand. “Be it related to him or related to our wedding, or, you know, anything else.”
Nya smiled at him, tilting her head up to press a kiss to Jay’s forehead.
“Thanks. I appreciate it.”
“Hey, don’t thank me for this, come on! It’s not even the bare minimum!”
Nya laughed as he protested, Jay’s arms stretching at his sides as he kept repeating himself.
Eventually, the two of them ended up going back to the living room and joining Cole on the couch, picking up two controllers and playing with him. After a few levels, Jay seemed to have a realization and turned to Nya in shock.
“Wait, did you say Kai told you to talk to me?? Does he know?!”
Nya stared at him in confusion for a moment.
“Oh, that! Apparently, they all know?? Well, not about what happened, but that we’re hiding something.”
Cole chimed in.
“Yeah, dude, you’re not exactly discreet about it…”
Nya chose to not listen to the rest of the conversation, already knowing the two best friends would start bickering. She simply giggled and mindlessly stared at Jay. She loved him so much.

ebbs and flows pt. 1 // jaya
a/n: i wrote this bc i got back into ninjago and i needed to write something for them bc i'm not caught up enough to be able to read the current fics + also on ao3 in capital letters
words: 1.5k
tags: angst, fluff, post-skybound, post s10 ninjago: masters of spinjitzu, jaya, no beta we die like kings, they r so traumatized after nadakhan, minor violence mentions from skybound, kiss kiss rated t just in case
preview:
she might’ve missed it, if she weren’t so keyed up already. “you’re my yang, nya.”
memory was clever in a cruel way. sometimes nya practically forgot what she and jay had endured, had survived. other times, though it had been years since, nadakhan’s grip was still around her wrist. memory was kind when it ebbed, cruel when it flowed. and the master of water, unfortunately, was far too familiar with ebbs and flows.
it started when she and jay were on a date downtown, a rare luxury given their line of work. they’d compulsively started window shopping, ducking into quirky stores, stealing kisses in the alleyways between. ninjago city hadn’t been quiet in so long.
“has this shop always been here?” jay asked, pointing at the large antiques sign hanging from the side of the building. “i feel like we’re always around here. why haven’t i seen it?”
nya smirked and nodded towards the restaurant next door. “maybe because you’ve been too focused on downing chen’s hand-pulled noodles to pay attention to anything else around here.”
“hey!” jay reached for her in fun, and nya twisted away, bolting to the antiques store. her laughter echoed down the street, and jay’s breath caught in his throat. no one laughed as brightly, as freely as her. his soft smile grew. no one made her laugh as brightly, as freely as him.
he was grinning wildly when he walked into the shop, nya waiting for him inside. “what?”
jay enveloped her into a hug, his arms snug around her. “i love you.”
“i love you too, jay. now look around with me! i wanna see if there’s anything interesting.” jay caught a quick kiss before pulling away, and nya’s cheeks were warm as they wandered through the store, hand in hand.
she saw the lamp first — not the same one, but far too close for comfort. it was rusted and dented like it had been thrown around in the wash, but the lamp’s handle curved at the bottom, whereas nadakhan’s stayed flush to the rest of the body. still, nya froze.
“nya? did you find anything?”
jay’s voice felt so distant and hazy, as if she was hearing him underwater. “honey?”
she felt his hands on either side of her face, and nya realized he was standing right in front of her. “you’re crying, nya.” he leaned in closer to look at her more directly as he wiped the tears from her cheeks. “what’s wrong?”
he followed her gaze to the shelf behind him, to the lamp sitting all on its lonesome. jay sighed then turned back to nya, resting his forehead against hers.
“look at me, nya.”
she felt like she was ripping her vigilance away as she did.
“that’s not his, i promise. and neither of us are going to touch it. we’re safe, okay? he’s gone.”
nya didn’t remember leaving the antiques shop, or going home, or anything else that happened between seeing the lamp and ending up in jay’s bed. she was spooned against him, so jay couldn’t see she was keeping her eyes open for as long as she could — every time she blinked, she saw nadakhan and that lamp. she could feel herself dying in jay’s arms again, on the floor of nadakhan’s stolen makeshift palace. she could feel her last words trying to snake their way out, but her energy draining before jay could hear them.
jay’s arms tightened around her waist, and she jerked away from them, tearing out from his grasp. she turned, and he was staring at her, worry lines stretching across his forehead.
“do you want to talk about it?” he asked. nya was quiet, though she cuddled closer to fit her head under his chin. jay slowed his breathing, taking deeper breaths in and out — he hoped she’d match him, even if subconsciously.
he was starting to fall asleep when he heard her mumble into his chest. “you couldn’t say his name.”
everyone else knew about nadakhan from the murals on the wall in the courtyard, but they would never remember him, especially not the way jay and nya did. but honestly, that made it somewhat easier for nya. she could pretend everything was okay with them.
but jay was there. and it felt so careless and insensitive for him to pretend, too, when he was with her. a small part of her knew it wasn’t fair to be upset at him for that — while she was dying, he watched, and maybe that was worse. but still.
nya hadn’t spoken to jay when they were alone in days. she still came to his bed each night, but they would lie in silence, and every evening she would get further and further away from him in sleep. at this point, they were on opposite sides of the bed, and her back was to him. if he just reached out, he could hold her, but he was scared she’d jerk away again if he did, and that would hurt more than anything before. when they woke up each morning, he’d ask her if she wanted to talk about it. she’d stay silent, though sometimes she’d shake her head. then jay would say he’d talk about it whenever she was ready. it was their new routine.
she started to have nightmares the day after they’d first seen the lamp. he tried to hold her close, whisper “i love you” to her over and over again as she shook and sobbed, but she’d end up pushing him away as soon as she got up. one night, he tried not touching her at all, and her nightmare subsided easily. so he opted to just lie awake until it went away, waiting for her to still. then she’d wake up in the morning, and they’d do their routine all over again.
weeks passed, and nya had caught a cold. jay would’ve stayed home with her, but their recent villain needed all hands on deck. misako and wu promised to take care of her while jay was away, though they figured some sort of fight had transpired between the two lovers.
usually when they had to split the team, jay and nya would kiss each other good luck. but jay stood in the doorway, quietly watching her sleep. he toyed with the yin symbol hanging around his neck. his partner, his love, was starting to feel more distant than a stranger, and every day more like a ghost. but he needed her to go to him. he was nervous about touching her and making any nightmares worse, so he opted to leave a note instead.
nya, my yang, i’ll be back soon. i love you.
nya could not tell him — she would not tell him. guilt slashed at her chest every morning she woke up, her throat dry and caked tears streaking from the corners of her eyes. but she had to tell misako and wu when she woke them up screaming in the middle of the night, the first time anyone else had heard her nightmares.
“nya?” misako rushed in first to see nya shot up in bed, gasping for air. misako put the back of her hand on nya’s forehead. “you’re burning.”
there was a small tub of water and a washcloth on the side table next to her bed, and misako wet and wrung the towel before leaning nya back gently and placing the rag on her forehead. nya’s eyes were still wide open, and she didn’t have to look to ask —
“where’s jay?”
wu walked in, staff in hand. “jay is with the other ninjas. they needed more help. i thought you knew…” he trailed off, seeing the note next to her. nya grabbed it, and as she read it, started crying harder.
“i’ve been so horrible to jay,” she said, stuttering. “and i can’t even tell him what’s wrong.”
misako held nya’s hand, squeezing it lightly. “then maybe it’ll help if you tell us first.”
every time nya fell asleep, she’d find herself in her almost-wedding to nadakhan. then she would get shot, and she’d lie on the floor. when she was first getting these nightmares, she could feel jay holding her again, just as he did the first time. but that made the dreams a little too real — she needed some sense they were just dreams. she would kick him away, and he’d disappear, and she could breathe again. eventually, she stopped imagining jay holding her, and as she lay on the floor, she knew it wasn’t real because it was playing out differently from what was real, and she was able to move on.
but how could she tell jay, that now, whenever he hugged her, she felt like she was dying?

how do you think cole would react during season five if reader got turned into a ghost like him
Hello, Anon! You left your message a little open so I'm taking the authority to guess you were asking for headcanons on the topic. That being said, I suck at headcanons, I'm just not good at writing stuff like that, but I've tried my best! As always, I have put the reader as male, like I usually do.
Cole x male reader headcanons!
Season 5 and before Day of the departed:
If (y/n) and Cole both turned into ghosts😱
How it happened:
"We're almost out of here! Come on Cole!" You called out as you ran after your three team mates you were currently tied to, along with Cole running right behind you.
"Ah, the scroll!" Cole suddenly stopped, and untied the knot keeping him tied to his four other teammates. You stopped as well.
"Cole! Come on! Hurry!" Cole didn't answer you and instead rushed towards the scroll, stumbling a bit before reaching it. With a hint of anger, and a hint of worry, you quickly untied yourself as well and went after Cole. Cole picked up the scroll just as you grabbed his hand and the two started running out hand in hand.
"Guys, we got the scroll!" Cole called to kai, Zane, and Jay as he flailed the scroll in the air.
"Yes! You did it, ahaha!" You celebrated and caught Cole in a bear-hug. The two of you laughed when the moment was suddenly cut off.
Cole was could. You were could. You finally took a good look at Cole and yourself, and Cole did the same.
"Cole, (y/n)! You two are..." Jay didn't finish his sentence, and just stared as you stared at your own ghastly green hands. Cole then grabbed your hands in his hands, that were identical to yours in color. The two of you looked at each other and spoke at the same time.
"Ghosts..."
-
Cole was heart broken, thinking he couldn't be the earth ninja as a ghost. You were too, but you took being a ghost as a new opportunity.
You tried new things, and was the first of you two to learn to control passing through walls and turning invisible and stuff.
Every time Cole would reach out to touch something, and phase through it, you would make him close his eyes and touch you instead, for he never phased through you. It was always comforting to Cole.
You both shared your fear of getting hit by water, and pulled each other away every time there was a change of getting splashed one way or another.
When you were at the crystal cave where the ninja could see their reflections, you didn't see yourselves, nor each other. The two of you were already dead.
Once Morro was defeated, the two of you kept mindful of Nya, especially when she was training, but otherwise all your worries about being ghosts faded.
I... Don't have anything else? I'm sorry, but headcanons just aren't my thingy. But I can't be blamed right, since It's not like I'm getting paid for this.

minor dragons rising spoilers but mostly just headcanon, set before part 1
566 words
The lighthouse still existed after the merge, but it was no longer anywhere near open water. Instead, it rose starkly from a valley, misplaced. Nya found it one day as she wandered, and as recognition flooded her mind, so did a desperate hope.
“Promise me something,” she said a million years ago.
She tore down the hill, through the valley, running faster than she had in years.
“Anything,” he answered.
She ran past skeletons of lanterns that were once carried by a strange current to the shores of the island, and now littered the ground where flowers native to another realm bloomed, their written messages of love long since dissolved.
“If we get separated, we’ll come back here,” she whispered. “Even if something bad happens, I’ll come back, and you’ll wait here for me.”
“Jay!” she screamed at the tower. “Jay!”
“I promise,” he said.
Nya clawed on all fours up the broken and mossy steps, determined not to slip. She flung open the door and it fell off its hinges. A bad sign.
“Hello?” she wheezed, lungs burning, and coughed on the dust in the air. She waved away spiderwebs and looked in the once-hidden room where she’d met the second Zane and now there was nobody.
The hope was dying but she began climbing the wooden stairs anyway. They creaked horribly. Her weight proved too much for one step and it snapped, rotten, and she nearly fell eight feet to the ground, but she caught herself and carried on, keeping a hand on the stone wall.
She knew that he wasn’t there before she pushed open the door to the lookout. She knew she wouldn’t find him as she left footprints in an inch of dust and startled a dozen small birds from nests built where seagulls used to land. When she staggered to the windows, she knew she wouldn’t see the ocean, but the sight of its absence still hurt.
Jay’s paintings were still here, distorted and grimy from years of exposure to nature. She guessed that after he left, nobody had come back to this prison, besides herself, when she was already too late to find him there. With a horrible sense of deja vu, Nya sank to the floor.
Maybe it was her turn to wait here for him.
A bird fluttered back to the rafters. Nya rubbed her eyes until she could identify it, and nearly burst out laughing. It was a bluejay, looking at her with its head tilted. And for some reason that was the trigger that wrenched a terrible wail out of her chest and into the air, scaring off the bluejay, hurting her own ears with the volume and suddenness of it, scraping out of her throat like claws down a tree. She couldn’t look at the paintings all over the room so she leaned out the window like a seasick sailor. The beautiful valley that should not be there did not understand her grief, but there was nobody else to weep to.
When it started getting dark, she made her way back down the tower, unwilling to spend the night here. She left a note in Echo’s old room.
My name is Nya, and I was separated from my family, like just about everyone. I’m still looking for them.
Jay, if you see this, don’t stay here. I promise I’ll find you.

𝓢𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐬𝐢𝐬: 𝗜𝗡 𝗪𝗛𝗜𝗖𝗛..
Jay had come to realize he had fallen for Aelia even though she was in love with another.
Tumblr media
᭥ ★ The atmosphere was tense to Jay. It wasn’t as joyful as it was earlier as Jay watched Aelia get off her elemental dragon silently with red eyes. You could tell she was crying.
Aelia stood quietly as the others partied about their victory against the cursed realm; civilians praising the ninja, especially Nya for taking down the ghosts.
But despite everyone celebrating Jay knew something was wrong with the girl and the second they locked eyes he knew immediately.
Tears poured down the girls cheeks as her body shivered. Maybe she was cold? It didn’t matter, she had just experienced something she’d never wish to experience. The death of the man she loved.
Jay wanted to comfort her. To reach out to her. To hold her. But wait.. Why was he thinking of these things? He never thought such thoughts before. He was confused. Way too confused.
The male watched helplessly as Irena slowly approached Aelia. The second the girl got close to her Aelia ran into her arms and began sobbing, muttering unidentifiable words that the male couldn’t hear. But Irena heard them very clearly.
Jay wanted to reach out and comfort Aelia. He really did. He wanted to hold her and tell her everything was all right. He knew this feeling was something not to ignore. He knew it was something more than what he expected. But.. How could he express it to Aelia.
Jay knew Aelia was in pain because of Morro, the elemental master of wind. He knew something had happened between the two of them while she was kidnapped. He knew.. she had fallen for him..
But why? He wondered. Maybe it was to forget something.. Or someone. Jay had zero clue but at that current moment he felt like his heart was shattering at the sight of Aelia’s broken heart.
“Aelia.. Hey.. Let’s go inside and talk about this.. Okay..?” Irena soothed the weeping girl as she clung onto her best friends outfit. It was inevitable, she knew this was bound to happen. That’s what happens when you fall in love with a ghost..
Slowly walking past the male, Aelia sniffled quietly as she held her head down. She didn’t want Jay to see her in such a state. But.. Jay wanted to comfort her.. Badly.
“Aelia.. Wait-”
Irena glanced at Jay before shaking her head at the male, signaling that it was not the time. But.. Jay knew there was more to the look that she was giving him.. She was hiding something from him.. Something important that he should know..
Jay helplessly watched as the two girls walked out of his sight. A voice from behind him snapped Jay out of his running thoughts as he looked back to see his best friend, Cole, stare at him with a frown.
“You know.. She was in love with the guy. Anyone could tell…” Cole started as Jay looked down at his feet with a slow nod.
“I know.”
Cole stepped closer as he waved his hand in front of Jay’s face.
“You know.. This is partially your fault…”
Jay looked up at Cole in surprise as he stared in shock.
“Wait.. My fault..?” He slowly questioned as Cole nodded. Cole sighed before shaking his head.
“She loves you.. I’m not sure if she still does but.. Irena says she loves you.. Aelia does.. But you loved.. Nya.”
Cole paused slightly before frowning. It also reminded him of the time he liked Nya. But now he had Irena, but. She wasn’t entirely his. Not yet at least.
“Don’t let her go.. Jay.. Or you’re going to miss the opportunity and regret to.. Like i’m regretting it.”
Jay looked Cole in the eye as Cole looked back at him with a sad smile.
“Cole.. I…”
Cole shook his head again.
“Don’t feel bad for me.. You should worry about comforting Aelia.. She needs someone… She needs you.”
Jay nodded. Cole was right. He shouldn’t be standing here worried when he could be doing something for her.
“Thank you Cole.. And.. Please dont wait until it’s too late for Irena.. We all know how much you like each other…”
Before Cole could respond, Jay ran off towards the direction Irena and Aelia went, leaving the male to stand there before letting out a quiet laugh.
“You dork.. You’re right..”
꒷︶ ̇ ̟ ෆ ‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿ ෆ ̟ ̇ ︶꒷
Jay made his way through the crowd of civilians as he made his way towards the inside of the boat where Aelia and Irena were located. Making his way to the entrance he noticed the two girls.
Irena looked up at the male as she widened her eyes. But the sight of Jay made her smile as she motioned him to stay out for a second.
“Aelia.. I will be back in a minute. Hold still..”
Irena got up quietly from her spot as she made her way towards the entrance before patting Jays back.
“Good luck..” She whispered out to the male before she walked back to the deck of the boat leaving the two alone.
Jay felt his words get caught in his mouth as he slowly walked towards the girl who sat down on the floor with lifeless eyes. He didn’t know what to say. What could he say? The girl he felt connected to looked like a doll. Lifeless.
Bending down next to her, the male sat in Irena’s spot.
“Hey..”
Aelia didn’t move, nor did she look at him. She simply looked gone as she continued to stare down at the ground. Dried up tears were evident on her cheeks and her eyes were swollen.
“Aelia.. Please.. Look at me..” Jay muttered out. Aelia didn’t budge making Jay worry.
Placing his hand under her chin Jay tilted her face to look up at him. Aelia’s red eyes stared back into Jay’s. Her body was cold. Scarily cold. As if she had Zane’s elemental powers.
“Aelia.. I’m… So sorry..”
Aelia continued to stare at the male. Her face never making any changes in expressions as her eyes dart along his face. He was worried.
“I’m sorry I didn’t notice sooner.. I..”
Aelia blinked owlishly at the sudden revelation. What did Jay mean. She didn’t know.
The girl ran her tongue over her dry lips as she watched Jay’s eyes dart down towards them before immediately glancing back up at her.
“I..”
Aelia shook her head slightly..
“Don’t apologize.. You have.. nothing to be sorry for..” Aelia said hesitantly as he stared back at the male. She knew now what he meant but she wasn’t so sure..
“Everything.. It’s..”
Jay hurriedly placed his hand over her mouth as tears pricked his eyes.
“You’re wrong Aelia. Everything is not going to be okay so don’t say that to me!..”
Jay cupped Aelia’s face in both of his hands as tears began to run down his cheek.
“It’s not okay.. It’s not.. You loved him.. And…”
Jay paused making Aelia curiously glance at the male. His ears were
slightly red as he held her eye.
“It’s.. Its not okay.. You’re not okay..”
Aelia only nodded slowly, agreeing with the male’s words before placing her hands on the underside of Jay’s.
“You’re right.. It’s.. not okay..”
Jay hesitantly placed his forehead against the females as she sucked in a harsh breath.
“J-Jay..?” Aelia muttered out dumbfounded as she felt her face warm.
“Can we just.. Stay like this for a moment.. Please…” Jay begged out quietly making the girl pause before nodding quietly..
“We can..”
Jay felt relief wash over his body as he wrapped the girl in his embrace. He smiled into her hair as he held her close to his chest.
Aelia felt.. Safe.. In the males embrace.. It felt.. Right.. This felt right.. This moment felt right to her..
“Jay..” Aelia quietly muttered out.
Jay pulled away from the girl before he locked eyes with her. A confused glance on his face as she smiled at him.
“Thank you..”
Jay’s eyes sparkled slightly. He pulled Aelia back into his embrace with a smile on his face.
“Anytime.. Aelia...”

Okay, well, I guess this is as good of a time as ever.
Ninjago AU's:
(Plain text: Ninjago AU's:) All of these have been swirling in my mind for A WHILE. No, some of them literal years! I'm going to go through this one by one, give details, and tell more while also naming them.
Dragon AU (Original)
(Plain text: Dragon AU (Original))
This AU has been with me for years, and has since gone through MAJOR changes. Which is why THIS is going through the Original version of the AU
-Loosely based around the movie, as it had been created around this time (think 2017-2019)
-High school sort of AU
-Dragons were hunting for the 'ninja', aka, elemental power users
-Only those with the elemental powers could see THEIR dragons wings
-Dragons were hatched/raised together by someone, taught a human form, and left to fend for themselves after their passing.
-Knew basic skills and what their goal to find was.
-Cole was a baker. I don't know why this was such an important detail, but it was.
-Incompleted, lead to a dead end, original won't be worked on, but a wonderful memory nonetheless
Royalty AU
(Plain text: Royalty AU)
Ninjas were royalty instead of ninjas! Everyone had their own kingdoms to rule as either kings, queens, princes, or princesses!
-Kingdoms loosely based around elements
-Loosely based after Tournament of Elements, only Lord Garmadon and Lloyd are.. Well, Lord and child
-There was a previous side-blog dedicated to this, but the original has since been deleted (nothing was actually on it, don't worry)
-Revamp blog can be found here: @royalty-ninjago
Dragon AU (ReMake)
(Plain text: Dragon AU (ReMake))
This is the current version of the Dragon AU! A lot of changes, a lot of major bringings, and so much with this AU that I just Love.
-Loose college based AU
-Cole's working to become a teacher. Zane a doctor, while working alongside Misako at a museum. Jay's an inventor and you can pry that out of my cold, dead hands. Kai's partially dyslexic (barely having a proper education as a younger kid), but working to be a blacksmith instructor.
-Nya's there, don't worry. So it Lloyd!
-Yes, there are still dragons! Don't worry about where.
-This AU is being written down, so not TOO much will be spoiled. Chapter 1 is about.. Maybe halfway done with?
Possessed? Jay AU
(Plain text: Possessed? Jay AU)
This came from a really weird fact pointing with @ninjago-autism-hours , and being written down. This will eventually be posted to Ao3 when completed and linked.
Ignacia Curse AU
(Plain text: Ignacia Curse)
I have named this AU finally!! You can find the information here!
Headcanon X Show Crossover AU
(Plain text: Headcanon X Show Crossover AU)
This one is self explanatory: My headcanons for the ninjas meeting themselves in a crossover.
Ninja-less AU
(Plain text: Ninja-less AU)
Once again, a little self explanatory, but more in depth than you think.
-Wu never finds the Ninja, despite trying to. Lord Garmadon is still 'Lord', and is still destined to destroy Ninjago, with Lloyd trying to stop him.
-The four OG's work on themselves and their own skills;
-Kai becomes a skilled blacksmith after years
-Jay becomes a spontaneous/on-the-spot inventor/mechanic and creates many things, ranging from cars to jets
-Zane becomes this sort of grey area of a 'Jack of all trades', yet still dedicated to helping people out
-Cole becomes an infamous hit man. No, I'm serious, that's where my mind went to for Fole, and it stuck.
-Lloyd somehow ends up in Cole's care, crossing paths before the snakes could be released, so the whole Pythor thing doesn't happen...
-Or does it?
-Can't remember details, but Pythor gets released. The 'ninja' have connections with each others, yet are so disconnected, you'd never think they'd know each other!
-They do. Barely.
-Morro also gets released, but instead of possessing Lloyd, zeoh just.. Kind of vibes with Cole and Lloyd, but most often gets left in Zane's care.
-There was a lot to this and I loved it a lot. I need to write this down.
Mute Kai AU
(Plain text: Mute Kai AU)
A more what if: Kai was a mute
-Pilot would be changed MAJORLY. The dudes wouldn't know Kai's name until Nya said it!
-Actions become words to the Ninja, and so often, Kai will motion in a really basic way to confuse someone, and then Jay pops up like 'Oh, yeah, we can absolutely go get something to eat after this', or Cole saying 'No, I think you're confusing Mystake with the other tea lady.'
-Just that. Mute Kai. There's a scar on Kai's neck that glows gold at random points, but no one ever says anything about it.
-Nya actually knows sign language, and has taught the others bit by bit so they can actually hold a conversation with Kai. By the time season 3 rolls around, they all know sign language and finger spelling.
+Jay's both offended and accomplished by his sign name (first starting as just 'talks a lot', but changed to 'electric boom', or something like that)
Dragon Kai AU
(Plain text: Dragon Kai AU)
If Kai was a hybrid of human and dragon. There's a LOT on this already, check the tag 'dragon kai' or 'dragon kai au'
Bizzaro Verse
(Plain text: Bizzaro Verse)
There's already a good bit about this out in the tags 'bizzaro verse'.

Screw it. Ninjago monster au. I got bored and well since I'm pumping out writing more than I should. Here. Also I might create artwork of the monster designs or mythical designs. I'm debating, but yeah enjoy my brainrot.
I'll give you all chapter one here though, cuz I'm crazy. Enjoy and who knows, maybe artwork will come of this, because I like drawing dragons, vampires, etc.
The sun shone bright orange along the golden doors of an ancient building. Nearly blinding the three underneath the gold archway.
“Nya, are you ready?” An elderly lady asked as the water ninja came up.
“Yep, and Pixel is coming too.”
“That is fantastic.” A nindroid beams as his blue eyes lit up upon seeing the female Android.
“I don't get to come out too much.” Pixel says as she then gets onto the boat.
“Did you bring Samurai X?” Pixel beams down at Nya. She then turned to a group of four ninja, currently waving off their Master.
“Alright, you boys know how to run the Monastery while we're away?”
“Of course we do, sis.” The red ninja Kai, smiled with his head tilting back.
“Yeah, sweep, clean, do dishes.” Jay, the blue ninja counted.
“Oh, and to mention the cooking.” The black ninja, Cole, grabbed his mouth.
“We got it under control.”  The last ninja, Lloyd, the legendary Green ninja beamed. The woman shook her head, and smiled.
“I was curious about the computer, do you know how to call from it?” Jay shoved Cole's hand away.
“Yep, I got it and I can do any repairs if needed.” Nya giggles at her boyfriend and both then share a hug.
“Nya.”
“Well, Master Wu is calling me. Bye guys, and don't ya know.. .burn down the Monastery.”
“When have we ever- oh yeah.” The boys groan at the fire ninja.
“Seriously Kai, out of all us you're more prone to.”
“I forgot, but-” He watches the Bounty taking off and turns back to his brothers. Cole smiled widely beside Jay, and Lloyd just started walking to the door.
“Well, come on. We deserve a break.” Everyone gave gleams as soon they reached a room, with a massive TV and sofa. Cole went to grab snacks, Jay played with the cords for a second and plugs them in, and Kai and Lloyd were just guessing who would win the game. Cole swings the door open with his legs and places down bowls of chips, chocolates, popcorn, really anything that could be considered a snack.
“Are you all ready for me to beat you all?” Kai gripped a controller.
“Yeah, right Jay, I'm gonna be the one to beat you.” Suddenly the game started and Lloyd gave a knowing side smirk as he immediately began slamming buttons.
“HEY!”
“Should pay attention better!” Everyone quickly began moving buttons as a certain green character was taking the lead.
They played for hours, eating, drinking, occasional breaks to use the restroom, but kept playing.
“I WIN!” Kai jumped up as he proudly stood on the sofa. Jay eyed his controller.
“Take that Lloyd!”
“Good game, but we should get more snacks.” Cole looked at the empty bowls.
“Yeah, I need to stretch my legs.” Lloyd yawns, popping his neck.
“Alright, time for a break.” Kai giggled as he jumped off the couch.
“Aww, but I was so close!” Jay frowned, and Kai gleamed.
“Maybe next time, but my eyes hurt from staring.”
“I just need more snacks and I can go again.” Jay looks over at Cole.
“You're on, Cole!” Lloyd yawns again and Kai went up to him.
“I'm gonna head to bed.” Kai nodded and the green ninja left the room, heads to the restroom. He uses the shower quickly and gets on his pjas. He then shivers through the hall till he makes it to his room. He curls up into the green blankets, and sighs as his hair was still wet.
“Have to wait.” He muttered and went over to his closet. He dug around for a moment, digging up old swords, Gis, and he stopped for a second.
A small black hood, with faded bone shapes and a number 5 in green. Lloyd lifts it and gives a slight gleam, folds it, and places it away. His eyes then see the pages of color and space.
“There it is!” He scooped it right up, and silently curled up into his bed and pillows.
He reads it till eventually his eyes close. And like that everyone was asleep. Kai in his room, with his fifty blankets, and Cole and Jay in the same room they played games in. Cole deep in slumber on the couch, and Jay in the chair, curled up like a burrito.
“How long do you think they will sleep?”
“Hopefully long enough for this.”
*creek*
The glass reflected their hood and their floating arrival. One looked down at Cole and Jay.
“Now?” The bigger hood shook.
“We must find their master's room.”
“Huh?” The beings flew straight down to the back of the couch, where they heard springs move as the male sat up.
“What was that?” His voice muffled with a hint of dryness.
“Now?” The little being asks and suddenly Cole jumps over the sofa.
“WHO ARE YOU!?” The two creatures flew up.
“AAA!” They glance at a terrified  auburn-haired man.
“COLE!”
“GET THE OTHERS, JAY!” Jay shakes his head, and feels his legs stiffen upon seeing the two sets of red eyes.
“KAI, LLOYD!”
*SWOOSH*
“AAAAAAAAA”
Lloyd lifts himself right up.
“JAY!” He jumps himself onto his feet and grabs the sword by his bed.
“I'M COMING!” Lloyd watches Kai sprint before him and immediately clutches his sword.
“IN HERE!” Kai slams the door right open and Lloyd rushes to his two friends, laying on the floor.
“What happened?” Cole clenched his jaw, showing his teeth, and Lloyd watched as his eyes began to water.
“Cole?”
“COME BACK HERE YOU FUCKER!” Lloyd lifts his head at Kai's yelling and grips his sword. Jay stood up, though still with a little help from the chair.
“That was weird, right?” He glances at a curled up Cole, who only stares up at him in tears.
Lloyd brings his sword right to his face, and stares up at a bright purple ball.
Cole shook as the blue ninja picked him up.
“AAAAA!”
“FUCK!”
Jay listens to Lloyd and Kai's screams and shakes his head as two figures fly above him.
“Sorry, Cole.” He places the pained man against the chair.
“HEY!” The figures turn to Jay, which is when Jay notices something shiny in their hands. He jumps onto the sofa, and tucks his legs.
“Bye”
*snap*
*Thud*
Jay lifts his head from the floor and breathes out.
“NOW THEY CAN TELEPORT!” He tugged at his eyelids.
“Jay.” The man turned, where he only saw Cole's hand on the chair. Or what he hopes is him, because the hand was fully black and had pieces of ripped sofa stuck to the longing claws.

Lava Through Time Chapter 1
I had someone ask me to write a story following Kai and Cole through time, so I'm working on it slowly.
I don't think there's any trigger warnings, let me know if I need to add some.
Kai gave the pot poured the spaghetti back in the pot, the water having just been drained from them, before turning back to the sauce he was making. Giving it one final taste, he decided it was finally ready. If only the other half of his family was home so they could eat.
He ran a hand through his hair as he stepped back to look at the clock on the microwave. 7:36, Nya should have been back hours ago. School let out at 3:30, and it only took 30 minutes to get back home. Before she had left this morning, she had said that she wanted to go to the mall with some friends. Kai had assumed that meant an hour or two at most. Looking back, he probably should have clarified which friends they were and where exactly they were going, but he didn’t want to be too clingy. Even though he was raising her, he didn’t want her to start looking at him as a parent instead of just an older brother. He’d give her until 8:00pm, that was her curfew after all. After that he would go out and look for her.
Taking a seat at the table, he pulled out his phone in hopes of distracting himself from the anxiety currently encircling his mind. About fifteen minutes later, he heard the front door open, followed by Nya’s voice as she yelled at him from the hallway.
“I’m back!”
“Where have you been?” Kai accused, darting away from the table and walking towards her. “I was getting worried.”
“Relax, it’s not even my curfew yet. I’m not late.”
“But you almost were. Who were you out with anyway?”
“Just some friends from school,” Nya replied casually, refusing to meet Kai’s eyes.
“Define ‘friends?’” He specified. Nya knew how to get around questions she didn’t want to answer, he’d learned that the hard way. She never straight up lied to him, she just phrased her answers in ways that made it seem like you had an answer.
“Just friends. Pearl, Jack, Crystal, some other girl I don’t know the name of.”
She started heading towards the kitchen, stopping to check the stove before continuing to the table.
“Why are you so worried? You worried I have a boyfriend or something?”
“Yes, Nya. That’s exactly what I’m worried about.”
“You’re just jealous because you don’t have a boyfriend.”
Kai spluttered in denial. “That’s not the point! I just want to make sure you’re safe!”
Nya simply raised an eyebrow at him as she dished up her food.
_____________________________________________________________
“Come, my feet or tired. We will take the horse carriage.” With the final declaration, Wu closed the door behind him.
“We have horses here?” Jay asked. “Unlikely. We’ve been here for months and have explored these grounds many times over. We would have come across any animals by now,” came Zane’s response beside them.
Cole simply rolled his eyes at his teammates, instead turning towards the newest member of their group. “It’s Kai, right?”
“Who’s asking?”
Cole chose to ignore the teens snarky response, as the leader he had to set an example. He wouldn’t let this hot-headed boy break him. “My name is Cole, it’s good to meet you new guy.”
Kai only narrowed his eyes. “I take it you’re also new to this ninja business. Don’t worry, I’ve got your back.”
“Thanks, but I won’t need your help. I’m going to get my sister back, then I’m leaving this place and all of you behind as soon as I can.”
Cole gave his shoulder a comforting squeeze as he moved to stand in front of the shorter male. “Hey now, that isn’t much of a team spirit.”
“Because we aren’t a team!” Kai shouted, pushing away from Cole and retreating out of his reach. “I don’t need a team! I don’t need anyone!”
With that final declaration he turned and retreated inside. But as he walked away Cole heard him whisper under his breath. “I never have.”
“What’s his damage,” Jay asked. “I didn’t see any physical blemishes. He appears fine to me.”
“No Zane, I mean why is he acting cruel?”
“Perhaps he just does not know how to be part of a team.”
Cole shook his head as he started to head inside. “Well, he’ll have to get over it. Like it or not we are a team now, he’ll have to get used to it.”
____________________________________________________________
“Alright, take five!” Lou declared as he slammed the door to the studio.
“I’m starting to see why Cole’s so sour. It’s cause twinkle toes here couldn’t deliver the goods.” Jay mocked, before switching to a softer tone. “Is that why you ran away?”
“Oh, I could deliver the goods!” Cole shouted back. “Look, let’s just go along with this until we can get our hands on the cup. And then we can leave, and I can erase this whole fucking disaster from my memory!”
Coles stormed out of the room, and the ninja heard some distant shouting between the father and son before the front door slammed behind him.
There was a moment of silence before Jay spoke up. “I didn’t mean to upset him.”
“It’s not your fault,” Kai responded gently. “I’ll go talk to him, don’t worry.”
Kai found Cole outside lying on the roof. The black ninja had the hood of his sweatshirt pulled up and his headphones overtop of them, and his eyes were closed against the dying light of the evening. After taking a quick breather, Kai walked over and laid down next to him. He didn’t speak, opting instead to wait until Cole started the conversation.
“It didn’t always used to be like this.” Kai raised his eyebrows in acknowledgment, waiting for him to continue.
“When I was a kid, we got along. Well, when my mom was alive, we used to get along. Our relationship started getting rocky as soon as she got sick. He went a full year without talking to me after she died, and I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why. Then one day, I walked into the kitchen before school. And there he is, the man who has gone out of his way to actively avoid me for months just standing in over the stove singing along to some song to the radio. He had the biggest smile on his face as he flipped pancakes over his shoulder.
“He said ‘There you are son! I was wondering what was taking you so long! I made your favorite meal, take a seat!’ and I remember it so clearly, those were his exact words, the first words he had said to since mom had died. And I told him I couldn’t. I had to leave or I’d be late. He said, ‘don’t worry about that, you don’t have to go to school today, I thought instead we could bring some flowers to your mom.’
“So, I got to skip school that day, we went and picked out this beautiful bouquet from a local florist in our neighborhood.” There was a soft chuckle at the memory. “She always loved purple and orange, so we got orange roses and purple larkspur. We didn’t know much about flowers than we liked those to, so they filled it in with everything, they were the experts after all. And it was truly gorgeous, I couldn’t stop thinking about how much mom would have loved it. We stopped and got lunch on the way there to, dad let me choose.
“We brought mom the flowers, and we had lunch with her, and we spend hours in the cemetery just… talking. It was so nice, and different, and I finally felt seen again. But after an hour or two I asked him. You know, I needed to know. Why did you ignore me? And he told me that it was because I reminded him of her. He said that everything I said or did, or even just looking at me, all that he could see was mom and he couldn’t handle it. And apparently, he talked to, someone- I don’t remember the specifics- and they told him to use it as an opportunity. That pushing me away wasn’t helping him grieve mom, it was making sure he lost both of us instead. Ad then he looked me in the eye and said that he didn’t want that. He said he lost her, but he didn’t want to lose me too.
“And that day forward things were great. We had conversations, we ate together, watched movies. He listened to things that I said and took an interest in my drawings and hobbies, I went and saw him perform, our relationship was fantastic.”
The two laid in silence for a while. Kai was hoping that he would continue, but it was clear he didn’t plan to without prompting.  “It sounds like you and your father were very close.” Cole nodded, eyes still closed.
The red ninja sat up, tapping at the others knee as he turned to face him. Cole followed hesitantly. He brought his headphones down to sit around his neck but left his hood on as he looked at his lap.
“How did it go from great to… how it is now?”
Cole’s breathing got heavier as the time passed, and Kai waited patiently, even as the tears started to fall down the earth ninja’s face.
“When I was a sophomore, I realized something about myself. And I was so certain that my dad was support me. So as soon as I was sure, I came home grinning and told him that I needed to tell him something. He told me that we had to leave soon if we were going to make it to the restaurant on time, but I had the floor for the remaining of the time. So, I took the floor, and I told him.”
Kai tilted his head trying to get the other to look at him. He was certain he knew where this was going, but he didn’t want to assume. “What did you tell him Cole?”
Cole reached up to wipe at his eyes as his sobbing increased. “I told him I was gay.”
Kai reached out hold onto his shoulders, trying to offer some comfort. He didn’t want to cross any lines, but still wanted the earth elemental to know he was there for him. None of the ninja had come out to each other, but they all had assumption, none of them malicious. Kai himself was bi and had plenty of unpleasant interactions with people, but it broke his heart that one of his best friends experienced that with someone he was supposed to feel safe around.
“After I told him, he just stared at me for what felt like hours. Until he stood up and told me he was canceling the reservation, and he just went back to ignoring me again. Just like when mom had died. And I felt horrible all over again, and I had to get out. So, I ran away, and this is the first time I’ve come back. He’s talking to me now, but I can tell, he hasn’t accepted it, and I don’t think he ever will.”
Cole fell forward into Kai’s lap, and the red ninja rubbed his back as the other sobbed. “I’m sorry, Cole, that isn’t fair. You didn’t deserve that. But I promise you, no matter what your father may say to you, you are amazing and worth it. And we love you, all of us, me, Jay, Zane, Wu. You’re a part of our family, and we’ll always be here for you.”
Cole nodded, but otherwise didn’t move as he continued to cry. The two of them sat under the sun set, until the sobs had quieted, and they had both fallen asleep. They only moved when the chill of the night chased them back inside.
Here's the second chapter:

Didn't write Ganondad, ended up writing for my Ninjago+Vocaloid au (Idk how to do this so I'm gonna kinda put ao3 tags here)
Electric Heart's BPM #1
(910 words) Zane/Pixal, Zane&Miku, this is like. YEARS after Ninjago canon so the ninja are all much older now, No Archive Warnings Apply lol
I had to physically restrain myself from adding ‘they were compatible’ to a certain part of this little drabble.
(This is the song I had in mind when writing this. Give it a listen.)
Almost everyone was there. Zane would be happy, Pixal thought. Lloyd, Jay, Nya and Cole were sitting in the seats to her left. The small outdoor auditorium was packed, eager for the concert to start. Zane had said it would just be a short one, celebrating the arrival of the fall season. Pixal was still dumbfounded that Zane had even accepted her offer to begin with. Ever since he met her he had been acting a bit different. For the most part, it wasn’t a bad thing. Zane hadn’t been in the best spirits recently, and, while he had talked to Pixal about it, nothing seemed to lift his spirits like a night out with his new friends.
The old group of ninja thought it best to support this new… hobby(?) of his by coming to see him perform. He would only be in the first number, but that was ok, Pixal was sure at least Jay would like the rest of the performance too. He was excitedly rambling to Lloyd about all the singers he knew would be onstage soon. Lloyd was nodding tiredly. Kai had never let him forget his emo phase where he had listened to Hatsune Miku on youtube. But that was nearly 25 years ago. Apparently Jay, in all his middle-aged glory, still knew quite a bit about current Vocaloid. But something caught his eye and he stopped mid-sentence, looking up at the stage.
The curtain drew open, to a bout of cheers from the audience. The lights swiveled into place, and a piano began to play. Hatsune Miku rose on a platform out of the ground and began to dance. The crowd went wild. The show was begun.
The tune was bright and bouncy, and carried on at a casual pace as Miku danced, her short skirt swishing and her twin-tails bouncing. The music was jazzy, and other instruments began to layer in: synthesizer, brass, drums, bass. The lights swirled and blinked, creating a terrific lights show. Then she began to sing.
It really was amazing. She didn’t sound particularly human. She didn’t have to. Her voice was clear and bright, and incredibly precise. Not a single note out of tune, or out of place. Each syllable was right on time, tuned to perfection. She sang in tandem with the walking bass, hips swishing as her perfect voice carried on. As the cadence of her verse drew to close, she held out her hand to the left of the stage. Zane strolled out, smiling. He opened his mouth to sing his verse.
Pixal had heard him sing before, but performing? In front of thousands? Pixal was incredibly proud of him.
And he sounded… good. Like, really good. His tenor voice resounded through the loudspeakers, just as precise as Miku’s. His sharp consonants bounced through the air as he sang the swinging tune, spinning in his dance as Miku had. Each step was sure and his notes were precise. Pixal smiled.
To finish off the verse, the two looked at each other and sang the end of the cadence in perfect harmony, mirroring each others dance, switching places on the stage.
Lloyd leaned over to Pixal, “It’s hard to believe that’s Zane!!” Pixal nodded.
Pixal had seen Zane dance before, and most times it had been for comedic effect. But there was no sarcasm in this dance. As his feet bounced through the loose, jazzy melody, Pixal could see the earnest look on his face. The Vocaloid style of dancing was… strange, to be sure. There seemed to be no rules about what was a dance move and what wasn’t. But it was definitely charming. The two were in perfect sync. Both in their vocals and their movements. They were exactly in sync. It made Pixal feel strange.
Zane had told Pixal about the mind sync two -loids had to make before they could sing a duet. Sure, they could just sing and dance at the same time, like humans did it, but for performances, they would link their processors together, and run off the same program. No longer two artists, but one performing machine. That didn’t necessarily bother Pixal. It was entirely practical, and made complete sense to her.
Zane sang harmony to Miku’s melody. Their perfect notes changed around each other each interval they created seemly more perfect than the last. Zane followed after her in her agile dance across the stage. It was evident this was a well-practiced routine. Pixal still felt strange.
She knew Zane was happy. Very. He would come home from Miku’s place or whatever Vocaloid function with a huge grin on his face, ready to excitedly tell her all about it. Singing seemed to help him express things without shame, and it certainly seemed to brighten his mood. Pixal was happy he had found this outlet.
But the two dancing robots on stage traded the melody back and forth. Miku’s twin tails twirled across the stage. Zane’s eyes shone bright. The two kicked and leaped, looking like the same dancer duplicated. The music behind them reduced to just the bass. They locked eyes as the lights trained solely on them and they began to harmonize through a quieter bridge.
Pixal knew Zane was happy. Very happy! Then why did she feel… angry? Upset…? Jealous. It was incredibly stupid and unwarranted. She trusted him. There was no physical evidence to justify this feeling. But it was still there.
Jealousy.

Ninjago Grief Comfort Pt. 3 Kai
Tumblr media
A/N: Heyyyyy. I completely forgot about this series, to be honest. The only reason I remembered it was because I was making a list of all the characters I’ve written for so I could write for all of them at least once, just as something to keep me busy, when I discovered this small series. Turns out it’s been 4 months on the dot since I’ve written anything for this series. But here’s the catch, I’m actually grieving now. Someone close to me passed away on August 9th. So I guess it’ll help me to continue this series. Here’s to part four!
There was a soft knock on the door maybe a half hour later. You were drifting in and out of consciousness, staring up at the ceiling. “Y/N, you awake?” a voice called out. Of course it was Kai. After Jay, he was the next ninja you’d say you were most comfortable around. “It’s Kai.” You didn’t bother to respond, instead pulling your blanket tighter around you. “I’m coming in.”
Your door creaked open and Kai stepped into the room. He thought you were asleep at first, but then caught a glimpse of your e/c eyes staring up at the roof. “Hey,” he said nervously. “You didn’t come up for breakfast. Jay said you were upset.”
“Why wouldn’t I be?” you replied, albeit a bit harshly. “My mom’s dead. Dad’s dead now too. Cole’s currently m.i.a. And we don’t know when he’s coming back. Why wouldn’t I be upset?” You then growled in anger, aggressively wiping at your eyes. “But hey, at least he’s got a great coping mechanism, whatever the hell it is.”
“Hey now,” Kai said, stepping closer. “You just need to find your own way to cope.” He grabbed your hands and pulled you to sit up. “And we can work on that as soon as you take a shower and change into some new clothes. And eat.”
You shook your head. “I’m not hungry Kai.”
He raised an eyebrow at your statement. “Really? Cause you weren’t at breakfast or dinner, and last I checked you stopped eating lunch at school. So as you shower, I’m going to go get you some leftovers from breakfast and we’ll go from there.” He patted your back, then used the hand on your back to push you off the bed and onto your feet. “Come on now.” You sighed heavily before complying, digging through a few boxes to find something clean to change into. When you found an outfit Kai walked you to the bathroom.
“You can use Nya’s soap and stuff until we can get you your own,” Kai said, kneeling under the line of sinks. He opened a cabinet and pulled out a red towel and handed it to you. “You can use this. Now shower up.” He flashed a soft smile before leaving you alone in the bathroom.
You took your time in the shower, letting the warm water cascade down your body. The steam in the air helped clear your mind, as well as your sinuses. However, with how dehydrated you were and how the hot water made your blood pressure drop, you felt really dizzy. You managed to finish your shower and dry off before taking a set on the floor outside the shower, head between your legs for a moment. When you felt well enough to dry off and get dressed, you stood.
You stepped out of the bathroom, wet towel in hand. You looked up and down the hall, listening for any of the ninja. You heard a lot of noise coming from the gaming room, but the door was closed so you snuck back into your room. You didn’t know why you felt the need to sneak around, but you did. Maybe it was because this wasn’t your home, or your family. You didn’t belong here. You felt out of place.
“There you are,” a voice startled you. You whipped around to see Kai sitting against the wall on your bed, a plate of food beside him and a glass of orange juice in his hand. “Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you.”
You shook your head, wet hair falling in your face. “You’re fine.” You hung your towel on your doorknob, then set your dirty clothes in an empty box. Then you walked over and sat next to Kai on your bed. He handed you the glass of juice.
“Here you go,” he said with a soft smile. “Hope you like eggs. If not, we can go to the kitchen and make a bowl of cereal or something.”
You took a sip of the cool beverage. “Thanks, Kai.” You set the glass down on the desk next to your bed. You picked up the plate and pushed the eggs around.
“Do you feel alright?” Kai asked worriedly. “You look pale.”
You shrugged. “I almost passed out in the shower.”
Kai quickly sat upright. “What?!” He slid off of the bed. “Maybe we should have Zane take a look at you!”
You shook your head with a miniscule giggle. “No, Kai. It’s ok. It happens more often than you’d think.”
“Oh.” Kai slowly sat back down. “Why?”
“It mainly happens when I’m sick or dehydrated or haven’t eaten enough. I take hot showers and that causes my blood pressure to drop and I get really dizzy.” You took a small bit of the eggs Kai had brought you.
“Even more of a sign that you need to be eating more,” Kai stated. He sat with you as you ate, eventually sliding off of your bed and asking, “where’s your hairbrush?”
You shrugged, finishing up your eggs. “In one of those boxes.”
Kai began digging through the many boxes, letting out a soft ‘aha’ when he found your f/c hair brush. He flopped back down on your bed as you set your plate down on your desk. It was weird, calling these things yours. This room. This bed. Everything, really. But you’d have to get used to it.
“Come here,” Kai said as he patted the spot in front of him.
You raised an eyebrow. “Why?”
“I’m gonna brush your hair.” You looked at the fire ninja, confused.
“Why? I can do it.”
Kai chuckled. “Because sometimes it’s nice to let someone else take care of you. Even if it’s small things like brushing your hair, or making you shower.” You gave in, sliding to sit in front of the ninja and letting him gently work his way through your knotted hair. You wouldn’t admit it, but it was nice to let him take care of you like this. Kai’s hands were gentle as they detangle your hair, making sure not to pull too hard or rip any hair out.
“Would you like me to braid it?” he asked softly once he was finished.
“You can try, but it’s hella layered,” you answered. It only took about a minute for Kai to braid and tie your hair, handing you your brush over your shoulder.
“There you go,” he said with a smile. “I guess having a sister has its perks.”
You took the hairbrush, slipping off the bed and leaving it in your place. You gave Kai a soft smile. “Thank you, Kai.”
“It’s no biggie,” he said. “I’d much rather spend time around you to make sure you were doing alright than playing video games with the others.” His smile fell a bit. “Besides, it’s not really the same without Cole.”
Your smile fell too, and you took to messing with your hands. You caught a glimpse of your dirty dishes, then picked them up slowly. You cleared your throat to try and change topics. “Can, can you show me where the kitchen is?” you asked quietly.
“Oh, yeah,” Kai’s voice was light again as he slid off the bed. “I can show you everything, really.” You followed the boy out of your room and down the hall. The gaming room was still loud. Kai walked you down the hall at the base of the stairs, pointing out certain rooms. “This is Sensei Garmadon and Misako’s room,” he said, pointing to a closed door. “And this is Sensei Wu’s room.” The one across from it. Then he took you down another hallway. “This hall has the indoor training room, another bathroom, the infirmary, and library.” Then there was another hall. “This is where the kitchen and dining room is located.”
You stepped into the kitchen, stopping in the doorway when you saw Misako and Garmadon standing at the sink, making small talk as they washed dishes. Their attention turned to you, however, when they heard Kai speak.
“Oh, hello Y/N,” Misako said with a smile. “It’s good to see you!” Garmadon smiled as well, walking over to you. You turned around to look at Kai who was standing behind you. Your nervous eyes met his amber ones. He nodded softly, assuring you it was alright.
“I can take those,” Garmadon said, motioning to your dishes.
You nodded, handing them to him, offering a soft, “Thank you.”
“Come on,” Kai said quietly. “Let’s go up to the control room. Nya’s probably up there.”

Jealous Ninjas x gn reader [fluff]
Jealous....
Tumblr media
JAY !
At first, he would be shocked, then annoyed at how one of the 'new' ninjas would flirt with you. He would always say it was stupid, that they didn't even know you personally, but Jay would roll his eyes and huff in annoyance. You were his partner and he knew you well enough to know he could be jealous. He just didn't like seeing you get flirted up by someone who barely knew you. "I don't want you talking to them [your nickname]!" Jay pouted as you turned down another person's advances for dinner that night. You looked at him and smirked, making him squirm under your gaze.
"What? Do you have a problem with me speaking to other people?" You teased, knowing full well he had a thing about strangers flirting with you. He was so protective, and you loved that about him. "No! It's not that." Jay shook his head, taking your hand in his own. "It's just...you're my partner and I don't want you being near them," he explained. His frown deepened when you laughed at his statement, squeezing his hands gently before pulling out of his grasp. "You worry too much about it. I don't like them anyway" you assured him, smiling softly when he still frowned. "Really?" He asked, watching your smile widen. You nodded as he smiled back. "Well okay then. Just let me know if they hurt you, or anything, ok? Promise?" He insisted and you laughed again, nodding quickly. "I promise."
COLE !
Now Cole would never let you go near the 'new' ninja. No matter how hard they tried to flirt with you. He would probably tell them to fuck off and to stop flirting with you. And he had done it before. He always told them this, but this time they weren't listening. It was pretty obvious to everyone else that they liked you and were being extra nice to you. You were the only one who noticed his reaction to the 'new' ninja. When you saw him glaring at them every now and then when they interfered in what you guys were doing. You knew something was up, so you decided to talk to Cole and see if he could help you figure out what was wrong. You sat downside him, while he plays his game. "Cole?" "What," He said bluntly. Not even glancing away from his game. "Is everything okay? You seem upset." You asked. He sighed, before putting his controller down on the table. "I'm fine." He said, turning to face you. You raised an eyebrow at him. "No, you're not." You said. He groaned. "Don't laugh at me, okay?" He muttered, looking anywhere but at you. You smiled reassuringly at him. "Never, Cole." You said. He looked back up at you. "The 'new' ninja is getting a little bit close and flirting with you, and...I don't like it."
He whispered. Your eyes widened as you stared at him. Then you smiled, reaching over and ruffling his hair. "Cole, you are such a sweetheart." You cooed. His cheeks turned red as he ducked his head to hide his embarrassed blush. When he finally looked up at you again, you were still smiling at him. "Thanks for telling me." You said. He nodded. "But," you continued, taking both of his hands in yours. "If you ever need to talk about this, I am here. Okay?" You said softly. Cole nodded. "Okay." You grinned at each other and leaned forward to peck his cheek.
ZANE !
Zane would be confused cuz' he's never felt this kind of feeling before. Seeing the new ninja flirt and talk to you way differently than they talked to them made him confused. He felt, mad for some reason, he didn't want you talking to them. So he asked PIXAL about his emotions. "It seems that you're jealous of the 'new' ninja flirting and interacting with [reader]" She told him. "I am?" He couldn't deny that he thought that you were very attractive, but not as much as you were with him. He wanted all your attention to be on him, he didn't like seeing you around the new ninja when he was around, he didn't know why he was so upset about it but he was. "Yes, I don't know what it means but it seems that you care about your feelings more than logic dictates." Zane sighed, "I suppose I do. Can I ask why? Why does my heart feel this way towards them?" "I've been trying to find an answer. There are some things in our coding that affect our emotions. I believe one is when we see others interacting romantically. It's like watching a movie that's playing in your head. We can watch someone else and watch from the outside without ever being able to experience it in person. It may explain why you're so angry at these new ninja, even though they're not dating [reader]"
Zane nodded, "I understand." The next day Zane noticed something different. Whenever you interacted with another ninja they'd always try to get closer to you or touch you. Zane knew this wasn't right because you weren't interested in them, but every time he looked at them he just got upset. You walked around the monastery trying to find Zane. Kai had told you he was outside, training but he wasn't there. So you decided to check his room. You found him sitting at his desk staring out the window. "Hey Zane" He turned to face you, a small smile on his face. You smiled back as he stood up, walking over to you. You were standing only a few inches apart. "Hello Y/N, how may I help you?" His voice was soft and smooth as he spoke to you. "I wanted to check up on you. You've kinda been ignoring me for a few days so" You mumbled, and the room fell silent. Zane looked away from you for a moment and then back at you. "Oh, I'm sorry, please forgive me if my behavior has been quite rude. It's just..." He trailed off as his hand moved to yours and he began to intertwine your fingers together. "I've seen how the 'new' ninjas would flirt and touch you and I've been...jealous? Since." You frowned, "Is that why you've been avoiding me?" You said softly. Zane squeezed your hand lightly as he nodded. You giggled at his cute little expression, you cupped his cheek in your free hand and leaned in to give him a quick kiss on the lips. When you pulled away you saw he was smiling happily. "I love you and you only, no one else can change that" You whispered. Zane blushed bright red at your words, "Y/N..you don't mean that..." You laughed and shook your head. "Oh, I do! Now let's go get something to eat!"
KAI !
Kai is such a hothead that he can’t help himself from jumping into conclusions like this. He doesn’t know where it came from. It just kinda happened. When he sees the new ninjaflirting with you, he feels something in his heart twist, like an elastic band stretching dangerously tight. It’s so obvious. And yet, no one has said anything about it. They haven’t done anything either, not that he knows of. Except for maybe Cole and Zane who have been giving him weird looks lately, but even they haven’t said anything. Maybe he was just overreacting but there are other people besides him that are flirting with you. Why not say something? That way it wouldn’t feel as awkward when he eventually gets jealous too, which could happen at any moment. “Hey, Cole! I need your opinion on something.” Kai says gaining Col's attention. His friend looks at him curiously, but nods.
“I think I should go talk to reader about something.” Cole blinks and cocks his head to the side slightly. “Is this about the new ninjas?" Cole asked. The red ninja nods vigorously. Cole rolls his eyes, "Tell them about it, tell them that the new ninjas make you jealous" he tells Kai. “But… I don’t want to make things weird” Kai says, cole frowns, clearly not buying that answer. "You're already making everything weird." Kai sighs defeated, "Yeah okay, fine. I'll tell them." When he told you that he got jealous of the new ninjas you were confused."What do you mean you're jealous of them? Are you jealous they might take me away from you~" You teased. Kai groans "You know what? Forget it, forget it, forget it. Just forget that I ever mentioned that. Forget I ever brought it up!" He says looking everywhere else but you. You chuckle before leaning over and kissing him on the cheek. Kai's cheeks turn bright red and his eyes widened in surprise. He turns his head towards you, looking straight into your eyes, and leans closer. He closes the distance between you two by placing his lips softly against yours. Your breath catches and you immediately kiss back. When you pull apart, you see Kai's face light up with a smirk. His cheeks are dusted pink and his eyes glisten with happiness and affection. You smile back at him, feeling butterflies swirl around inside your stomach. You wrapped your arms around him and rested your head on his chest. Kai wraps his arms around you and smiles down at you. His expression softens and he gently kisses you on the forehead. "I'll never replace you" You mumbled. "Is it because I'm hot?" He asked smugly. You laughed "Well, yeah. But, more than that. I love you." You kissed his cheek again. "I love you too." He whispered.

Alright just thought of a headcanon for elemental powers:
-----
Okay so let's get this bread.
Elemental powers are pretty cool yeah, but what if they also had thier very own specific downsides depending on the element?
Here's a demonstration:
For example Jay, his powers is lightning, and it's pretty cool yknow, but it's also stupidly dangerous to it's holder.
If the current elemental master of lightning doesn't have good control over thier abilities, they can very easily shock themselves, sometimes to near death.
See what I'm going with this?
So yeah, take that and apply it to the rest ninja, here's what my goofy ahh mind managed to cook up.
----
Kai:
Kai's element is fire, and it lets him endure heat much better then the normal person.
But this doesn't apply to his body's temperature.
If Kai gets angry or is in a really stressful situation or is mentally unstable, his body's temperature rises sharply, and if he doesn't get a good hold of it, he can pass out from the heat.
Basically his body knows how to deal with heat from the outside, but it doesn't know how to deal with it on the inside.
----
Lloyd:
Lloyd's powers are mostly a net postive.
But it also has some net negatives.
For example, despite all the training and despite his high stamina, his elemental powers are extremely draining.
He can't focus his element in powerful blasts as long as the others, he very much can do elemental blasts, but the others can focus much longer.
His elemental power basically steals energy from him, he can't hold his attacks for too long otherwise it'll start physically draining him.
He also can draw energy from the air around him, but it's also very physically draining.
----
Cole:
Cole has earth, Like Lloyd, it has pros and cons.
Cole's element is extremely demanding, food and water wise at least, his diet is really heavy, and that isn't just because of his physical strength overall, its also because of his elemental powers, which demands a lot of food.
Another downside is Cole's weight.
Again, this could be blamed on his physical build, but his elemental powers also play a key role in this.
----
Zane:
Zane's powers are actually really dangerous, especially to thier holder sometimes.
Most previous elemental masters of ice suffered from content fatigue and slowness, which severally hindered thier abilities to do most things.
But Zane got lucky with being a nindroid, since the elemental power acts as a constant cooling system.
But despite that, sometimes it can also he too much for his systems, and he could become too cold at times.
----
Nya:
Definitely the weirdest one of them all.
Nya's heart rate and blood flow are both really high at times, and injuries heal much slower then usual, which could mean that a single bad scratch could be enough to knock her off team missions, so she has to be super careful about fighting locations.
And we already mentioned Jay so no need to repeat myself.
--------
What do yall think?

Excuse me what’s ninjago?? :0
oh!! im so glad you asked!!
Ninjago is a Lego franchise, which sells Lego sets that correspond to the events in a show. The show has been running for eleven years and currently has sixteen seasons, undergoing a reboot at season eleven.
The show began centered around a group of four boys recruited by an old ninja master (Sensei Wu) to stop Wu's evil brother Garmadon. Garmadon was after the Golden Weapons of Spinjitzu, four elemental weapons that were used by Wu and Garmadon's father, the First Spinjitzu Master, to create the world the characters live in, Ninjago. The weapons correspond to four elements: fire, earth, ice, and lightning. The four ninja recruited by Sensei Wu each have an elemental power and a unique personality for the team:
Tumblr media
Cole, the master of Earth and the steady, levelheaded de facto leader
Tumblr media
Kai, the master of Fire and the hot-tempered reckless heart of of the team
Tumblr media
Zane, the master of Ice and chill-but-awkward kickass (psst hes secretly a robot whoa)(he didnt know)
Tumblr media
Jay, the master of Lightning and motormouthed inventor
Here's the intro for the first season, it's worth a watch
They are a. Found Family with the capital Fs. It barely takes six episodes for them to start calling each other "brother". They're clumsy and rude and hardheaded sometimes but theyre trying so hard and they love each other so much.
So, season one, we got the team right?? Bunch teenage boys, Kai's sister Nya who is the only reason they're not dead yet, their wise omniscient kickass ninja mentor.......and Garmadon's elementary-aged son. Who unleashed an ancient tribe of vengeful snake people because he wanted to be an evil overlord like his dad.
The kid's way too cute to be evil though, ngl.
Tumblr media
His dad's title is Lord Garmadon. His name is Lloyd Garmadon. He painted little skeletal ribs onto his hoodie so he could look like his dad and does this little muahahahahaha. Yes dear you're very scary.
kjashfaskdjf ANYWAY (i may love him a bit too much) being Sensei Wu's nephew, Wu kinda wants him in a place where he can be supervised and not. Yanno. Nearly dying to ancient snakes because he's like nine. So they pick him up and he joins the gang, but then he gets kidnapped BY said snake people and apparently the only thing Wu can do about it is go yank his dad, the evil overlord, out of whatever evil hole he's been brooding in.
Garmadon was legit just going to murder his brother until he heard that his son was in danger and then he instantly dropped it and started hiking to get him back. Ya see, the only thing that can make Garmadon break free from the corruption flowing through his veins is his son.
But whoops! Lloyd is actually the prophesied Green Ninja who is destined to destroy the lord of darkness. He's like nine and he has to kill his dad.
It's rather complicated and I'm not sure if you want to hear all of it, but he does end up defeating and purifying his dad. It's great. Then he has his dad for two more seasons and then loses him again.....
Anyway, that's the basic setup for the show. The team continues to fight evil together, season after season. One of my favorite things about Ninjago is how it utilizes its vast history (sixteen seasons) to construct plotlines that hit just because of how much weight is already behind them. Like, with the aforementioned Lloyd and Garmadon, he saves his dad, gets his dad, has to kill his dad again, has to kill his dad again, gets his dad resurrected as an empty husk and sicced on him, tries to save his dad again but gets disowned, then is forced to watch his father learn empathy for everything but him. Over the course of the sixteen seasons.
Each season is a relatively self-contained narrative, and the show ends up being fun to watch all at once but with cohesive individual stories. It's really dang funny and it has made me cry.
So! Found family, funky animation, and entertaining and hilarious characters. It's been incredibly fun.
