The party's senior leader Pawan Khera accused these news channels of running a ‘shop of hatred’ and said, "We do not hate these anchors but we love the country more."

Khera posted in X (formerly known as Twitter) and added a video as well. "We do not want to legitimize this hate-filled narrative that is corroding our society," he said in his post.

The Bhartiya Janta Party retaliated to this in no time as the party chief JP Nadda posted "The history of Congress has many instances of bullying the media and silencing those with differing views.” Nadda accused the congress of having a rough history with the Press. The News Broadcasters & Digital Association also expressed their thought and said that it was "deeply anguished and concerned" by the decision of the Opposition alliance.

"The ban on representatives of the opposition alliance from participating in TV news shows anchored by some of India's top TV news personalities goes against the ethos of democracy. It betokens intolerance and imperils press freedom," the statement read.

I was talking to batboy some weeks ago and the conversation turned to street brawls. Whether one should intervene or not. He was of the firm opinion that one should not. Because everyone is insane these days. And you can't count on crowd to back you up even if you're in the right. How will they back you up when they're all busy making videos of you getting stabbed multiple times by some maniac on the road? It's an epidemic these days. People see any fuckery happening on the roads and out come the mobile phones and they start filming videos. What's the point? Are they going to jerk off to a beating or a stabbing later? Or are they going to sell the footage to some tv channel? Or earn fake internet points by forwarding the video through social media? Right, you saw a stabbing and filmed it. Great! Fantastic! Come to republic day parade next year and the PM will pin a medal in your ass. I just read a news report about a guy who tried to save someone in a scuffle and got stabbed to death. 26 year old dude. These days, the only way to break up a scuffle is to attack with such force that both parties in the scuffle are either injured or too stunned to do anything. Or you can stand on the side and make a video like the rest of the janta. I think about such a situation and I find myself in a conflicting moral dilemma. Do I risk my life to save a stranger? Can I? And it's not even a hypothetical question. People get stabbed and shot in this city every day. Is more violence the answer to violence? In my earlier city I could make a call and have ten people backing me up. Here, I'd probably bleed out on the road and look really good on camera while doing so. If that happens I hope these people have some high megapixel camera and I hope they shoot in landscape. Vertical videos are embarrassing.

MUMBAI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to the nation to switch-off lights for 9 minutes at 9 pm on April 5th also made a lot of Indians switch off their TV sets and illuminate candles and lamps in their homes.

Interestingly, the 11 minute message, which was aired across 199 TV channels, was viewed by 119 million viewers for a total of 1.02 billion minutes.

Locked down at their homes, Indian viewers are anxious for information and have been tuning in to every message of PM Modi in unprecedented numbers.

Modi’s two previous live addresses, first when he asked the nation to follow a one-day Janta Curfew, and second when he announced a 21-day lockdown, were also viewed by 82.5 million and 196.5 million viewers, respectively.

SRINAGAR: The curfew and strict communication blockage on Tuesday entered 37th day in Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK), reported ARY News.

The valley remains cut off from the rest of the world since August 5, when the Bhartia Janta Party (BJP) led Indian government scraped special status of the held valley.

Owing to the curfew and communication blackout continues in the Kashmir valley, people are facing acute shortage of essential commodities including baby food and life-saving medicines.

All markets, schools, and colleges are closed while transport is off the road. Internet, mobile, landlines and TV channels in most areas are also shut.

According to Kashmir Media Service (KMS) occupation forces have martyred 16 Kashmiris in the month of August and injured 467 with air-gun.

Over 10,000 arrested have been booked under draconian law, Public Safety Act since the repeal of the special status of territory by the Indian government on August 5.

Those detained under PSA include Hurriyat leaders, political workers, traders, lawyers, social activists, and youth.

India has also banned Muharram processions in the territory, Kashmir Media Sevice reported on Saturday.
