FLUFF ALPHABET W/ ELLIOTT — STARDEW VALLEY
Tumblr media
SUMMARY: The Fluff Alphabet by @snk-warriors featuring Elliott!
CONTAINS: sfw, gn! reader, fluff, established relationship, spoilers for his 10 & 14 heart event
NOTES: I haven’t known what types of headcanons to post so I’m hoping this might inspire me. I’m taking requests, by the way, if you’d like to help a girl out! Enjoy!
Tumblr media
A = Activities - What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?
Elliott loves cooking and baking with his spouse! Even if you’re not great at it, he’s happy to teach you! As long as it’s edible, he’s happy and proud of what you made together. That phrase “a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach” applies to him specifically.
B = Beauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?
It’s so hard for him to narrow it down but if he has to, it’s your generosity and strength. He could watch you do farm work for hours (and he has) and he loves that you’re so giving and that you don’t think twice about it.
C = Comfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?
Elliott is at your side immediately, asking how and/or what he can do to help. If you ask for a minute alone, for example, he’s preparing your favorite snack and movie or show. Or maybe a bath or shower, later reading you to sleep. He’s doing whatever he can to help you!
D = Dreams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?
He dreams of the typical white-picket fence dream: marriage, kids, growing old with you. More than that, he wants to take care of you, to protect you, to provide for you. As long as he knows he can do that for you, he can die happy.
E = Equal - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?
I can see this going both ways. I feel like if you’re a woman or feminine presenting, he’s more likely to subconsciously take on a dominating role. If you’re a man or masculine presenting, the same still applies but less so. It’s not that he has sexist views! He was raised with these values in mind and it didn’t help that a lot of the media he consumed growing up portrayed a damsel in distress. If this makes you uncomfortable, you can tell him that and he’ll be much more mindful of how he treats you. Regardless of your gender, he’ll always be protective over you and that’s something you cannot change.
F = Fight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?
Yes, without a doubt, yes. Even if you hurt him deeply, he’s already forgiven you long before. To quote James Fraser from Outlander because I feel like Elliott would think the same: "She asked forgiveness, and I gave it. But the truth is, I'd forgiven everything she'd done and everything she could do long before that day. For me, that was no choice. That was falling in love."
G = Gratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?
He’s eternally grateful for everything you do. For him and for the community. You save him from dying a lonely hermit on the beach! For that, he feels he owes you everything.
H = Honesty - Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?
He’s very open and honest! I don’t think he intentionally keeps secrets. Like with the piano, you didn’t know he could play so beautifully and he would probably not have brought it up unless you found him playing. Or if it didn’t come up in conversation, he probably won’t mention it. Except it’s something actually important, then you can trust he’ll tell you. But in that case, it probably wouldn’t be a secret.
I = Inspiration - Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?
You’re his muse! You inspire him every single day. You helped him to write his book. He runs a lot of things by you because he knows that you’ll give him kind constructive criticism.
J = Jealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?
I don’t think he gets jealous easily. He gets jealous like the average person. When he does, however, he becomes passively aggressive. If he notices someone flirting with you, he’ll politely remove you from them and gently scold you. He might be a little petty so you’re probably going to have to apologize a bit more than you normally would.
K = Kiss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?
YUP. He’s a romantic and very in tune with his partner and what they like. Your first kiss with him was magical. He wasn’t clumsy or too rough. It was sweet and gentle.
L = Love Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?
On a shabby little row boat out at sea!
M = Marriage - Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?
Yes! He feels it’s the natural next step to your relationship. He proposes to you on the beach while the sun sets. Your marriage would be pretty low-key but never lacking. Especially in the bedroom. You both are happy and content with your quiet lives on the farm. Whenever Elliott goes on a book tour, he brings you along, considering it a vacation.
N = Nicknames - What do they call their s/o?
Darling, love, dear, sweetheart, beautiful. He called you darling, love, and dear before but when you started dating, he added ‘my’ in front of it.
O = On Cloud Nine - What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?
Elliott is pretty animated already but even more so when he’s in love. He’s much happier and carries himself more confidently (if you can believe it). I don’t think it’s obvious to anyone but his friends. Leah, for example, notices it almost immediately. He expresses his feelings through writing in his “secret book” of poems expressing his love for you or your likeness captured through a character in one of his books.
P = PDA - Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?
Yes, he’s very proud to be yours! He doesn’t necessarily brag but he talks about you whenever he’s given the chance. He’s not shy about physical PDA either. Of course, nothing inappropriate but definitely touching you in some way or kissing you. He’s not in the least bit shy!
Q = Quirk - Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.
Elliott is a very smooth talker. He almost always knows exactly what to say. And I know that would otherwise be a red flag but he does stumble over his words frequently too! He never wants to risk loosing you, especially over something that’s his fault.
R = Romance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?
He’s extremely romantic! He’ll happily help you around the farm and later take care of you when you come home: making dinner, bathing you, massaging you. He also loves reciting poetry to you whenever you’ll listen.
S = Support - Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?
You can count on him for any sort of support you need and he’ll gladly help you work towards your goal(s). He has always believed in you.
T = Thrill - Do they need to try out new things to spice up your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?
He doesn’t feel like it’s a necessity. He likes adventure on occasion but he’s also very happy and content with your daily routine.
U = Understanding - How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?
He’s very empathetic towards you. He’s good at remembering details about you too, regardless of how insignificant it may seem. He remembers what you like and don’t like, things you’ve mentioned that you want, or little stories from your past.
V = Value - How important is the relationship to them? What is it’s worth in comparison to other things in their life?
He values your relationship the most out of everything he has! He’ll always put you (and your shared family) first. He loves you more than writing and reading—and that’s saying a lot.
W = Wild Card - A random Fluff Headcanon.
Elliott absolutely hates when people touch his hair. But you’re the only exception. Even though he may tense up a bit at first, he eventually melts into your touch. He trusts you with his life, and more than that, his hair.
X = XOXO - Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?
He’s super affectionate! He loves touching you, whether that’s through hugs, hand-holding, cuddling, or kissing. He takes any chance he gets to tell/show just how much he adores you!
Y = Yearning - How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?
When he went away on his book tour, he took to sending you letters. He also called you at the end of every day. He prefers to call rather to text because he wants to hear your voice.
Z = Zeal - Are they willing to go to great lenghts for the relationship? If so, what kind?
Absolutely! Anything you need—or want, even. You can always count on him. He’d pet a sea cucumber if it’d make you happy.

This item, H.R. 7152, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, faced strong opposition in the House Rules Committee. Howard Smith, Chairman of the committee, refused to schedule hearings for the bill. The Gloaming
An Outlander/Jane Eyre crossover fic
Chapter 1: Alone
Aged three and twenty James Fraser had nothing more than a second-hand suit and an old leather satchel to his name. In contrast to his current state, James’ upbringing was initially one of wealth and prosperity. Nestled in the heather-covered hills of the Scottish Highlands, the Frasers lived on their farm estate, Lallybroch. It was here, on a crisp Spring morning in the year 1821 that James - Jamie to his family - was born. His first few years of life were full of joy; a spirited child with a crop of auburn curls, he was doted on by his loving parents. Spending his days riding his horse and swimming in the stream, he wanted for nothing. Unfortunately at the tender age of eight, tragedy struck; his mother died of scarlet fever, his heartbroken father following mere weeks later. Jamie, now an orphan with no close family nearby, was all alone in the world.
According to the terms of his father’s will, Jamie was to live with his Uncle Dougal and his family in Edinburgh. When he came of age he would then return to the Highlands, taking his rightful place running Lallybroch. Dougal Mackenzie, however, was a greedy man and informed the lawyer managing the Fraser estate that Jamie had died of the fever too, thereby stealing the property for himself and leaving his young nephew with nothing. The worst part of it was that the boy knew nothing of the scheme, only that his beloved home was being taken over by new owners. His Uncle in possession of Lallybroch, Jamie was sent to a workhouse and soon happy days on the family farm were only a memory.
The years that followed were especially tough; fourteen-hour days spent chopping wood and crushing stones. Food was scant, water for washing - when there was any - ice cold. The overseer took a particular dislike to Jamie, frequently caning the child for the merest infraction. Jamie suffered terribly, pining for his parents as well as the fresh clean air of the countryside. He dreamed of the day he would escape the city and be surrounded by rolling green hills once more.
It was quite by chance that Jamie was finally able to leave the workhouse behind. After ten years he’d grown from a gangly youth to a strapping 6’4”; not as well built as he would have been on a proper diet but a man of strength nevertheless. One day he was driving the cart of chopped wood from the workhouse to a local blacksmith when the horse threw a shoe and reared back. Having known the way of horses practically since birth, Jamie brought the animal under control, saving both the cart and its load. The blacksmith - himself quite afraid of horses - was impressed.
“Lad, I’m expanding my business and looking for a farrier. Think ye might be interested?”
It was the first piece of good news Jamie had received since his parents died and he agreed immediately. For the next five years the young Scot learned his trade; making and fitting horseshoes as he cared for horses hoofs for miles around. Although much better than the workhouse, it was still a hard life; early starts and long days for very little pay. Still, Jamie was able to be around horses again which brought some comfort.
Fate however, was not on Jamie’s side. One chill winter’s morning the blacksmith complained of feeling poorly and by that evening he was dead; leaving the Jamie all alone once again. He hadn’t enough money to take on the business himself, so the shop was closed and he was turned out onto the street. With the little money Jamie had saved, he rented a small room above a pub; his funds stretching just enough to allow a roof over his head for one month, afterwhich he’d be homeless. Desperate to not have to return to the workhouse, Jamie was willing to do just about anything so long as it was honest work. With no money or connections to help him, his prospects were slim and helplessness threatened to descend. Finally Jamie hit upon an idea and with his last few pennies he placed an advertisement in The Times.
Young man seeking situation - skills as farrier, care of horses and in manual labour. Willing to work for accommodation.
Initial hope began to fade as the weeks ticked by with no responses. Not for the first time, Jamie wished his Da was still alive to guide him through troubled times. Or his Mam there to offer a comforting hug. Having no one to love him or for him to love in return brought a coldness Jamie worried he’d never escape. Three days before he was due to lose his bed, he received a reply.
Dear Mr Fraser,
We are in need of a riding instructor for the young Master of our estate. Room and board included, the salary offered is £50 per annum. Assistance with the management of the stables would also be required. If you are willing to accept our terms please reply via return post.
Yours sincerely,
Joseph Abernathy,
Wolverton Hall, Shetland.
Beaming at this good fortune, Jamie immediately dipped the quill into the ink pot to write and accept Mr Abernathy’s offer. Such was his excitement that his shaking hands spilled the black liquid across the parchment and he had to start over, but it mattered not. Packing his meagre possessions into his satchel Jamie began the journey northward and toward a meeting that would change his life forever.

The 16th of February 1746 in what became known as the Rout of Moy,  Government forces under Lord Louden attempt to capture Prince Charles Edward Stewart at Moy Hall.
Around midnight on 16th/17th February 1746, Lord Loudon, the Commander of the Hanoverian forces in the north, mustered 1500 troops from the Inverness Garrison and set off on the twelve mile march south along General Wade’s Road to Moy in a bid to capture Prince Charles Edward Stuart. The prince, a guest of Lady Anne Mackintosh (Colonel Anne) at Moy Hall, had arrived with a small guard of 50 men, some distance ahead of his retreating Highland Army.
Pitch darkness interspersed with flashing lightning slowed and unsettled the marching men.
Watching the road here, 3 miles from Moy Hall, was an ‘outer guard’ of just five Jacobites led by Donald Fraser, the Moy Blacksmith. He had chosen a spot where he could observe movement on the skyline to the north in darkness, and where he had cover to the south in daylight. Nearby to the east, peat stacks remained out on the moor. Here he planned to harass, and perhaps deceive, the enemy.
As the Hanoverian Column, spearheaded by the Laird of MacLeod and his men approached in the darkness, they were surprised by sudden musket fire and loud war cries urging clansmen to battle. Even the peat stacks threatened in the flashing lightning. Convinced that the whole Highland Army was at hand, Loudon’s men turned in panic and fled back to Inverness, somehow carrying off the body of Donald Ban MacCrimmon, Piper to MacLead and the only fatality of the night. A premonition of his imminent death had been realised.
This skirmish took place two months prior to the Battle of Culloden. Donald Fraser died in 1804 and lies buried in Moy Churchyard.
The above information is displayed at the Cairn.
On the cold, dull but dry afternoon of Saturday l6th April, a sizeable crowd of over 200 people attended the unveiling of a new cairn making the site of the skirmish known as “The Rout of Moy”.
This event was organised mainly by Donald MacAskill of Tomatin, James Ingram of Aberdeen, and James and Elma Singer of Ellon, with valuable assistance from Brian Duff of Forest Enterprise. Building work was carried out by Murdo MacAskill, Fred Jamison and Willie MacAskill, all of Inverness.
The unveiling ceremony was preceded by a stirring demonstration of drumming skills by the Clann an Drumma (4 drummers and a piper) from Glasgow.
During the ceremony wreaths were laid in memory of Donald Ban MacCrimmon, and a one minute silence was observed.

Advent Day XVI ~ All is Calm, All is Bright @whtwclf
Sometimes Beth worries that she asks or maybe expects too much from James. With his hands he built this house back up. It had belonged to his parents, of that she is sure and from his day those decades ago it might likely have belonged to his grandparents, too. in a way it's funny that once more multiple generations are living under the same roof again. He'd tell her if she said so aloud that he enjoys working with his hands. That it gives him a sense of peace using them to create rather than destroy. She notices the more he putters around, sometimes muttering to himself, sometimes making plans with her, the less frequent the nightmares are. She doubts they will ever go away completely but the length of time between them is a hopeful thing. Even the rocking chair that she's in was one he made for her. Without drawing strength from the earth Beth can't really lift or move it on her own, but everything about it describes it's maker. It is white oak, heavy and sturdy and will support her weight for years. It will hold more than that. Much more. It's stained a beautiful deep cherry-wood colour. Hides the occasional smudge of blood, spit-up, chocolate. She had no idea he was going to make it for her but she loves it just as much now as she did when he gave it to her. James goes out Yorktown Heights to cut down their own Douglas or Fraser, and makes sure to wrap the stump carefully. He drives upstate with her to set it free in the wild, and appreciates how she uses her mana to replant the tree to keep it alive. He doesn't make fun of her for preserving nature. He also brings home cider and doughnuts from the fruit and fir farm. She grows the ivy and shapes the pine bough that becomes their door wreath but James isn't one for trying to short out the city power grid by illuminating the entire eastern seaboard with decorations. She loves to listen when he mindlessly croons snippets of carols he recognises. Presents under the tree are always a delight; chemistry and Erector sets to encourage expansion of the mind, art supplies or music to encourage the arts. Whatever little thing that gets ever so sweetly asked for. Never a weapon, never ultra-violent video games. Books and clothes. Not just at home, either. James has been a Secret Santa for local hospitals, shelters. Boxes of food too. Blankets that Beth knits during those long hours of insomnia throughout the year. Scarves and shoes, gloves and hats. No one in the neighbourhood goes without. Wrapping paper and ribbons are saved when they can be for reuse later and he always apologises after the fact. She dotes on him affectionately and reminds him he's being environmentally aware. She rather likes the way he drawls his hatred of single use plastics.
Right now though, making sure the hand-made stocking are not only hung but filled and relying on him to make sure all the presents are wrapped and waiting under the tree. It's amazing how quiet he can be when he needs to sneak around. He knows which boards will creak, and he knows exactly what distance there is between every stick of furniture they have. He doesn't wake Mia who had insisted on waiting up all night for Santa, and who was asleep by nine pm. He tucks her in. Then he makes the trek upstairs. She glances over at him as he takes up the space of the door frame. Their eyes meet in the dim light coming in from the hallway and the little lamp that throws a galaxy of constellations onto the ceiling. "Heya, doll." "Hi-hi." Those two things are the softest of whispers between them, his darker tone wrapping around her like an embrace. He carefully saunters over to her and holds a sprig of mistletoe over her head. She tilts her chin up and offers him the kiss he claims. "Trade you," he says. Beth thinks about it for a moment but then nods. He waits patiently for her to unlatch Andy's mouth. Their infant son wasn't exactly nursing in any serious fashion but hadn't let her go just yet. He tucks the mistletoe behind her ear then scoops the baby from her arms. Once she's sure he's got a good hold, she shakes out her arms and covers herself up with her robe. James carries Andy to his crib ~also hand made first for Mia and now for her brother~ and settles him in it, before tucking him in with the same care and love as he had the boy's sister. Beth comes up beside him and ducks under his arm, the metal cool on her neck, her shoulders. "I know you could stand here all night, Mistah Barnes," she murmurs, watching him in profile. "But Christmas gonna come real early an' dere won' be more sleep until midnight."

I came across "Hot Dr Pepper" (2012) [watch here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIRnM6s4GNo&t=27s] on Tumblr dot com probably in 2018 or so. I can't remember exactly when it was, it was probably late at night as I scroll this hellsite before hitting the hay, but I'll tell you what, I watched that video once and chuckled, then I watched it again, and again, then I showed it to everyone I know. The amount of people that associate me with Hot Dr Pepper (and chilled Dr Pepper) is a lot. I quote this video weekly and bring it up every chance I get. "Glass- glass- made of glass" In 2019, I received an unmarked package in the mail and it was two cut out ads (both of which are featured in the first Hot Dr Pepper video), which are currently hanging on my bedroom wall from a friend who moved half way across the country from me. I was Dr Pepper for Halloween in 2018. Maroon is my favorite color (coincidence?) so I have a lot of that colored clothing. I bought a Dr Pepper jean letterman-style jacket off of Depop and added the letters H-O-T above the logo on the back so it references this video in 2021. This video has become a core personality trait, I hope I've made that clear here. From 2021 to 2022 I watched every Brendan Fraser movie, I was absolutely rocked when Hot Dr Pepper made an appearance in Blast From the Past (1999). I still have the clip on my phone (and I don't keep media on my cell phone) because I recorded my screen so I could send it to all my friends and family. To my knowledge it is the only movie that references this beverage in this way (but I am still on the look-out). I brought Dr Pepper Strawberries and Cream to my workplace pot luck this year. I've put Dr Pepper in Jell-o! My favorite comedian, James Acaster, did a great bit on Dr Pepper in 2017 (if not earlier)-which I tweeted him about (and he liked it, mind you), and now my second favorite comedian, Joe Pera, has a bit on Dr Pepper, BUT this is truly my personal Return of the King. I never expected to see a sequel/redux/anniversary edition. The updated images, the aged-up presenter, the popping lemon. I needed to add the link to something and just happened to see it. Just masterful, heart warming, and cup filling. Watch here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SwB59TkWqg
"A little carbonation, and I'll see you next time"

Ten Characters, Ten Fandoms, Ten Tags
Thanks for tagging @chrisoels ! At first I thought I don't have that many fandoms but then I found out that I actually have way too many😅 (why do I always have to overthink stuff like this?) So as there's no clear rules given here - I split it into the list of 10 characters and the list of 10 fandoms because why not:
TEN CHARACTERS - lets start with something normal...
John "Jack" Robinson (from Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries series) - for making all the most minimalistic reactions feel sooo intense with his voice, his face, his appearence and the way he can blink... He's the coolest quiet guy!❤
Amelie (from Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, 2001, dir. Jean-Pierre Jeunet) - nice, quiet girl who is not best at socialising and doesn't enjoy sex (greysexual?) yet loves to make other people happy. Doing good things without being noticed makes her feel powerful and make her feel like Zorro. I love that she eventually gets some kind of reward for all that and the kissing scene in the end is sooo very sweet❤
Pollyanna (from Pollyanna, 1913 novel written by Eleanor H. Porter) [books counts too I guess?] - for looking at the positive side of every situation, what's more to say? Best way to live your life when you're too empathetic👍
Benton Fraser (from Due South series) - a guy from other realm: elegant, polite and humble, obeying all the rules and still be the smartest and most effective police officer around. Not to mention how handsome and cute he is! (take it for ace version of "hot") and scenes like when he falls into the snow in end credits I could watch forever❤ (so bad his asexual smart-ass potential has been wasted by producers in every next season...)
Young Bilbo Baggins (from The Hobbit, or There and Back Again written by J.R.R. Tolkien) - the book character once more: the guy, who starts up as the classical loser, the smallest in the group, knowing nothing, understanding nothing and being scared of his own shadow - when given a chance proves his potential for the greatest deeds, smartest solving problems and bravest of actions💪And the talking to the dragon on the top of that, OMG!!!🤯 (sorry, but Peter Jackson version packed with CGI and unnecessary stuff for me was emotionally flat as a pancake😩)
Zorro (from Zorro, 1957 Walt Disney series) - ZORRO!!! if that's not self-explanatory I don't know what to say😂
Z (from Ant Z , 1998dir. Eric Darnell and Tim Johnson) - for: "Why does everybody have to dance the same way?"
Sherlock Holmes (from Sherlock BBC series) and Gregory House (from House M.D. series) - well it is technically the same character (like Doctor Who or like James Bond - played by multiple actors): brilliant antisocial detective no matter if he is played by Benedict Cumberbatch or Hugh Laurie. And if not for his stunning personality (you may love him, you may hate him but you can't stay indifferent) - all the undefined interactions, dialogs and puns between Sherlock and John or between Greg House and Lisa Cuddy are just pure gold❤️‍🔥
Howard Brackett (from In & Out, 1997 dir. Frank Oz) - sooo sweet, I consider him my favorite ace movie character💜💚 (the 1990's movie tells him to be "gay" but I'd say it's an obvious misrecognition and I'd need another post to tell more about that guy...😋)
Jareth the Goblin King (from Labyrinth 1986, dir. Jim Henson) - well... that's another guy that I sooo much need another post to talk about😆 Starred by David Bowie, nuff said😎
.
TEN FANDOMS (don't worry, this part is much shorter):
Labyrinth (1986, dir. Jim Henson) and its fancomic Girls Next Door (I love that in the fancomic Jareth gets muuuch more good time teasing and flirting Sarah!😋) - what to say? Everything is magical and fancy here but never too naive
X-men - a talent that makes you special also makes you an outcast (which is not any different from the real world actually...) Also cool looking action scenes and young Hugh Jackman as the Wolverine.
Collateral (2004, dir. Michael Mann) - I watched it for the first time in 2021 and it became my biggest obsession, hyperfixation and life perspective changing experience❤️‍🔥 (again - most definitely some other post to talk about it) But apart from my madness it's also is just a very good action movie with nice soundtrack. And ppl saying they hate Tom Cruise but loved Collateral says a lot about it!👍
Terminator 2: The Judgement Day. It's like Zorro to me - obssesed since my childhood and never get over it
Fiddler on The Roof - pure perfection
M.A.S.H. series - classic
House M.D. - apart from everything else it was also a great help during medical studies - nice thing when you can memorise weird disease symptoms with an episode😉
Toy Story - fascinating thing to watch every next movie growing up with you - from your childhood problems to middle age issues...
Matrix - hyperfixation of 13 years old me (but the first movie I choose to treat as a whole story)
Garfield - 😁
Oh, that was kind of refreshing. Turns out I actually needed that.
Now I'm afraid I do not know enough people to tag but lets try it: @the-malfunctioning-somnambulist , @vampiiriic , @blackhoodedfigur , @lireb-librarian , @voidofsky , @sharp-lines-in-charcoal , @dragodina , @sbmranger , @tamisdava2 , @notasapleasure
Have fun if you feel like it or just have a good day anyway!❤

Patriot Games is a more than serviceable thriller, perhaps a bit out of date when viewing it now, but still a very effective good against evil piece. The source material is so dense and intricate it was always going to be hard to condense that into a 2 hour movie, but I feel the makers manage to keep it fleshy whilst making the respective characters interesting and watchable. The acting on show is more than adequate, Harrison Ford is great in the role of Jack Ryan, he manages to portray him as a sensitive family man who can step up to the plate when things get ugly, and Anne Archer is solid enough as the wife and mother caught up in the web of nastiness unfolding. The baddies are led by the brooding Sean Bean who is a little under written, whilst Richard Harris is sadly underused. However, the action set pieces make their mark and thankfully we get a riveting...

This photograph shows the pictographs at Mabel Lake. The second is a drawing of the pictograph from John Corner’s 1968 book, Pictographs in the Interior of BC. [edms 1229]
There are generally two types of rock art – pictographs and petroglyphs. Pictographs are paintings on rock or other surfaces. Petrograph is the more specific term for this type of rock art. Petroglyphs are carvings in stone. In the BC Interior there are over 260 rock sites with pictographs and 16 petroglyph sites. Most pictograph sites are along or close to important travel routes. The majority of rock paintings in this region are red, which symbolizes life and good luck.
James Teit, who came to BC in 1884 at the age of 17, was fascinated by the Indigenous people around Spences Bridge. He learned to speak and became fluent in the Thompson, Lillooet and Shuswap languages. He wrote about his impressions of the Interior way of life. Anthropologist Franz Boas enlisted Teit’s help in studies for the American Museum of Natural History. Teit’s writings on the Interior Salish culture have become a valuable resource for such information. While there is no certain answer as to when Interior region pictographs were created, in 1918 Teit estimated them to be done between 1818 and 1858. Rock painting seems to have ceased during the gold rushes of the Fraser and Cariboo in 1858.
In 1928, the Okanagan Historical and Natural History Society put out a public plea in the local paper for people to stop defacing the Mabel Lake pictographs. People were chipping away at the images, trying to take home a piece of history.
In 1947, local resident Johnny Serra wrote a letter to the local newspaper to bring attention to the fact that a person or persons were shooting at the pictographs, chipping away pieces of the rock and smearing the red paint.
John Corner wrote Pictographs in the Interior of BC in 1968. His book describes many sites including Site No. 96 on the west side of Mabel Lake, 400 yards south of the rock point at Tsuius Narrows. The rock panel done on limestone and faces southeast. His write up on the painting is as follows:
“Both the limestone outcrop and these striking red pictographs are easily visible from the lake. The main group of these pictographs is not only exceptionally interesting in design, but also artistically well executed. Pictography in general throughout the Shuswap language area appears to have been practiced with more accuracy of line and attention to detail than elsewhere. These pictographs are endangered by annual deposits of calcite and there is indisputable evidence of vandalism where large chips have been broken from the rock panel partially removing some of the pictographs. Some of the paint has dribbled over the loose joined rock directly beneath the panel. The unmistakable human figure with the double horned headdress, fig. f, is curious and unusual. Fig. h is always interpreted by local residents as the skeleton remains of a fish. Figs a and b are a few feet south of the main panel and figs. n, p, r and t a few feet north. Several are badly faded and now impossible to define.”
Edith Payne, who donated this photo to the museum in 1988, interpreted the pictograph to say, “This is a good spot to cross over and a good fishing spot.”

Miglior film: trionfo per The Daniels e Edward Berger
Quindi lei è stupenda e io sembro praticamente uno scroto“.

“True Bill Found Against George Albert Hendrie,” Kingston Whig-Standard. February 21, 1933. Page 13. ---- A grand jury at the Spring Assizes, presided over by Hon. Mr. Justice W. E. Raney, has returned a True Bill in the case of George Albert Hendrie, 24. year-old former member of the R.C.A. in Kingston, charged with the murder of Peter Davis, on Sunday morning. Dec. 18th last, in the brigade canteen of the R.C.H.A. at Tete de Pont Barracks.
It is charged that Davis, who was in charge of the canteen, was struck on the head by Hendrie with a piece of lead pipe. The coroner's jury found that Davis died as the result of a fractured skull.
H. A. McNeill, counsel for Hendrie asked for permission to have the accused undergo a mental examination and his request was granted. This will mean that Hendrie will not come up for trial until later in the week. He may possibly come before the court on Wednesday afternoon and it may be later.
Sir Alfred Morine of Toronto, is acting as Crown Prosecutor in the criminal cases at this session, of the court.
The charge of murder against Hendrie was given to the grand jury at 2.30 o'clock and the jury returned with a True Bill at 4.50 o'clock Monday afternoon. Immediately following the finding of the grand jury, Mr. McNeill, counsel for the accused, asked permission to have the prisoner examined by an alienist, and permission was granted. Mr. McNeill announc ed that he would make plans to have the accused examined by a couple of doctors without delay. Mr. McNeill will select the doctors to make the examination.
It is understood that Hendrie has already undergone an examination on the order of the Attorney-General's Department at Toronto.
Court opened at 2.15 o'clock on Monday afternoon before an audience that filled the court room. Members of the grand jury were sworn in and the names of the men summoned as petit jurors were called by the clerk of the court. Following are the members of the grand jury:
ames P. Dorland, Kingston (fore- man); Calvin Bearance, Kingston; Reginald Bracken, Kingston Township: A. J. Cowan, Pittsburgh Township: Joseph Duff, Storrington Township: Charles H. Funnell, Kingston; Charles Fraser, Kingston; James Grant, Kingston; Oscar Meeks, Barrie Township: James O'Rielly, Wolfe Is- land: Robert Roushorn, Bedford Township: Ernest Stover, Kingston: R. Roland Wallace, Kingston.
Mr. Justice Raney "You have been summoned here to take the share of laymen in the administration of justice." said Hon. Mr. Justice Raney, in addressing the members of the grand jury. "It may be that there will not be many more. grand juries summoned in this province. There is a possibility that the system may be abolished in the interests of economy. We need to economize, but for some reasons I would be loath to see the system pass away. However, sooner or later, in the evolution of the system of justice it will pass away. Originally, and we will go back one hundred years, we find the grand jury a very important body. It is not my purpose to pursue the history of the institution, but in the course of events It has appeared to many people that the grand jury should be abolished.
"Take the case you are now called upon to consider for an illustration," added His Lordship. "A coroner's jury was summoned to find the cause of the death of a man. At these proceedings witnesses were called and they told their story. All this created expense. The second stage takes place at the preliminary hearing of a man charged with the crime. The accused was brought before a magistrate and witnesses were again summoned, at further expense, and the man was committed for trial. Step No. 3 in the case is the one that you members of the grand jury will take. The case is presented to you under an indictment for consideration and to determine the very thing a magis- trate has determined that there is sufficient evidence to place the ac- cused on trial. If the grand jury returns a true bill the accused man will be placed on trial and for the fourth time witnesses will be called to the court to tell their story. There is something to be said in support of the move to speed up the machinery of justice and in the saving of con- siderable expense. If the efficiency of the administration of justice is to be impaired, no change would be sug- gested, but after the committal of a man for a crime of this kind by an experienced magistrate, one would think, in all common sense, that the next step would be to put the man on trial before a trial jury."
Murder Charge Continuing his address, Hon. Mr. Justice Raney, made the following reference to the murder charge to came before the grand jury.
"The matter for your consideration so far as the criminal business of the court is concerned is that of the case of this man Hendrie, charged with the murder of Peter Davis.
"You are not called on to try this case. You are only called upon to listen to the evidence of witnesses who will be called by the Crown to deter mine if there is sufficient evidence for you to return a true bill and place the accused on trial."
Hon. Mr. Raney, also told the members of the grand jury that they would have an opportunity of inspecting institutions receiving government grants.
"If you so desire you can say whether in your opinion grand juries should be continued or whether they should be abolished, so as to reduce the cost of the administration of justice.
Non-Jury Case When the grand jury retired to consider the murder charge against Hendrie, the non-jury case of William Lower, plaintiff, and George L. Carpenter, Besale Carpenter and Cecelia Mahoney, defendants, was taken up. In this case the plaintiff's claim is on a mortgage dated Oct. 5, 1928.
After hearing the evidence, His Lordship suggested that it was a case on which both parties should get together and make a settlement. The case was allowed to stand over for such a settlement.
Another non-jury case was taken up, that of James Grant, plaintiff, and Charles Zizzo, defendant, in which the plaintiff claimed unstated dam- ages for negligent operation of the defendant's motor truck. The plaintiff is a market gardener residing in Cataraqui, and the defendant a fruit dealer in Kingston.
The suit was undefended and after His Lordship heard the plaintiff recite the damages, he complained of to his counsel, T. J. Rigney, K.C., he gave judgment for the plaintiff for the sum of $226 and the cost of the court. Grant's truck was damaged according to his evidence, his wife suffered injuries which prevented her from doing household work for a time, and his daughter also suffered slight injuries. Plaintiff said he suffered a cut on his head but that he had not put in a claim for this. The accident occurred last fall at the corner of Princess and Division Street.
