This is one that has acquired a personal association over the years; my dad enjoyed downloading and burning CDs of music, especially obscure songs & recordings, and made a few for me one of them was a copy of this CD, now seeing the cover makes me remember him, so it felt right to post this today
Happy Birthday, Dad

Ichirou Mizuki has passed away at age 74. Guy is a legend of the anime theme song space. Founded Jam Project, one of my all favorite bands of all time, and is one of those voices that's beyond iconic. Rest in Peace king.
Here are a just a few of his songs. If you like mecha anime at all this guy probably did at least one of your favorite openings.

I just rewatched a “Believe In My Existence” short, and I just realize that Kai’s “omg I can be a girl” can be backed by that Power of Friendship Flashback song!

The other day I went down a small rabbit hole of Keroro history; besides Keroroland, there was another tie-in magazine released called KeroKero Ace, which was a manga magazine featuring additional chapters of the main Keroro manga, along with some spin-off series, stories with a similar audience appeal, and Gundam manga (a lot of them, mostly Gundam really)
I knew about the two bigger spin-offs that had compilation books, and at least the majority of a smaller spin-off with shorter stories and an educational element that also got a book, but apparently there were three others that never got a compilation book.
The fantasy RPG inspired Keroro Quest had a series that ran from around volume 20 to 38, after that was "Keroro Clumsy Beginnings Tale" from somewhere in the 40s to volume 57, and finally "Legend of Keroro the Great" from volumes 59-69, the last volume released. I'm hoping someday we can track down and scan all of them, but for now here's the karaoke version of an ending theme I was reminded of while doing my research, admittedly due to the credits animation showing the various alternate outfits the characters had

Steel A Jeeg's Magno-Mixtape Vol 08
April arrives, and we are all its fools. So let's all settle in, grab a beverage, and agree to be the silly geese we know we were meant to be.
Tumblr media
Instead of subjecting you all to a playlist of joke songs (check the readme to find out the torture I planned) I decided to do something a little different that met the spirit of the day, at least.
APRIL SHUFFLE
The rules are simple: I set my entire music collection on shuffle.
The intent - take the first 20 songs in the shuffle, pick my 12 favorites, and organize them into a playlist. Try to find any emergent themes, good thematic or musical transitions, and have something to say about each track.
The caveats - No repeat tracks, nothing that's been on a mixtape before. No skits, obviously. And no songs from the same album.
Good or bad, it made it on the mix.
I then had to put together a cohesive song order, and maybe even come up with an emergent theme. Did I find one? Check the readme and you'll see!
The access code is: BEAMCONFUSE
Either way, enjoy the music. It's a very jazzy mix this time around, the perfect playlist to ride out the thunderstorms, eclipses, and freak earthquakes while we wait for warmer weather to arrive.
Featuring tracks from: Mos Def, Isao Sasaki, David Bowie, Earth Wind & Fire, Maryanne Murray, The Decemberists, Takayuki Miyauchi, and more!
Choose your format: RETIRED - Check the pinned post for this month's release
