Summary: As a flight attendant on a layover in Philadelphia, you decide to reach out to an old fling, Jalen Hurts. Now reunited you and Jalen effortlessly slip back into familiar ways and spend all night rehashing old feelings and catching up.
Word Count: 4.2k
A/N: I don't know shit about football but I was reminded of how fine Jalen Hurts is and this came about. I literally cannot write smut without going into detail about why these people are humping on each other so my bad for the yapping 😂. Anyways I'm sorry for any grammatical errors or typos that I may have missed during my proofreading.

"Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen. This is your captain speaking."
Your ears perked up at the pilot's deep voice filling the aircraft. You became immediately alert, not expecting to hear an update so soon. Turning your head slightly to the right, you eyed your co-worker Ronnie, who shrugged at you, equally clueless about what was happening.
"I've just received news from air traffic control, and unfortunately, there's a severe storm moving into our destination airport. This will cause significant delays. As a result, we've been rerouted to Philadelphia, where we'll be staying overnight to wait out the weather. We should arrive within the next 45 minutes."
Your body relaxed again as a chorus of complaints rose from passengers upset about their canceled plans to arrive in New York tonight.
"Bitch, I thought we were going down," Ronnie whispered jokingly, causing you to bite back a laugh. You and Ronnie had been working together for over a year, and his commentary never failed to leave your stomach hurting from laughter. When you first joined Delta Airlines, Ronnie was your lead and showed you the ropes. After traveling to various parts of the world together, you two had built a sibling-like bond. He made your time on the clock so much more bearable.
Approximately 45 minutes later, the plane landed safely in Philadelphia. The airport clock read 9:10 PM. You had planned to be in New York, but with this unexpected layover, you now found yourself in Philly with a whole lot of free time and no clear idea of what to do with it. You and Ronnie decided to part from the rest of the crew and caught a cab to the nearest hotel, the Four Seasons downtown.
"Thank you, Delta," Ronnie giggled as he handed the woman at the front desk the company card. You did the same as you booked your room for the night.
"What are you about to get into Y/N? I know a few people out here in Philly, and I think I'm gonna hit the town before we gotta be out of here in the morning. You're more than welcome to join me," Ronnie told you as you took the elevator up to your rooms.
"Uhh, no thank you. I know somebody out here. I think I'm going to see what they're up to," you replied, your mind wandering briefly to the man you knew lived in Philadelphia.
"Oh... are you sure that she... or he is free tonight?" Ronnie asked, obviously fishing for information as he raised his perfectly arched brows at you.
"I think he might be free, but if not, I'm cool with just chilling in the room for the night," you told him.
"Oooh, okay. Well, bitch, if you do link up with this mystery man, tell me all about it later," Ronnie said as you stepped out of the elevator together.
"I will," you promised with a smile. You two shared a quick hug before parting ways to your separate rooms, which were directly across the hall from each other.
Entering your room, you dropped your duffel bag on the floor and kicked off your shoes. Pulling your phone out of your jacket pocket, you walked to the bed and sat down. A small tinge of nervousness crept in as you thumbed through your messages, scrolling down a few times to locate an old thread that hadn't been updated in months.
You stared at the contact name that read "Jalen" for a beat before sending a quick message that you gave yourself no time to second guess.
You: Hey big head... guess what?
You locked your phone and tossed it on the bed, unsure of when or if Jalen would respond. It had been months since you last spoke and you didn't know how he felt about your abrupt silence.
You and Jalen had been what some would call friends with benefits on and off since your freshman year of college. Back then, neither of you wanted anything serious, so your relationship never extended beyond physical intimacy. Then when you graduated, Jalen got drafted to the NFL and started playing for the Philadelphia Eagles, while you returned home to Atlanta to work towards opening your boutique. Admittedly you and Jalen had developed romantic feelings for each other but the distance and some personal beliefs of your own made even thinking about a serious relationship impossible. But whenever you two reunited, your arrangement remained the same.
The only time you stopped fooling around was when one of you entered a relationship, which never seemed to last long, so you always ended up back in each other's lives. That was until a year ago when you entered a relationship with a guy you grew up with. Everything was going well until he went through your phone and discovered your interactions with Jalen. After grilling you about the nature of the relationship he became extremely uncomfortable with you staying in contact with him and wanted it to stop. It started causing problems in your relationship and you and him argued about it constantly. You thought you were in love so you eventually gave in. You told yourself that if the shoe were on the other foot, you wouldn't be comfortable with your boyfriend being buddy-buddy with someone he used to be intimate with either. So out of respect for him, you slowly stopped communicating with Jalen until there was nothing between you two anymore. Although you missed and cared about Jalen you had convinced yourself that you were doing what you needed to do to have a healthy relationship.
Well, the relationship didn't last and things ended months ago. But you felt terrible for cutting Jalen off causing you to be hesitant about reaching out. But now, finding yourself in Philadelphia for the first time you saw it as a sign to throw an olive branch out to him and hoped that he would accept it.
The buzzing of your phone brought your mind back to the present. You quickly picked it up and breathed out a sigh of relief as you saw that Jalen had surprisingly responded.
Jalen: What? 👀
A smile crept on your lips as you thumbed your response.
You: We had a layover on the way to New York and now I'm stuck in your city for the night.... 🫣
Jalen: Word?? Where you at now?
You: Downtown at the Four Seasons.
5 minutes that felt more like 5 hours went by before his reply.
Jalen: Give me an hour. I'm coming to get you.
You: Okay bet.
You damn near twisted your ankle as you sprung up from the bed.
The thought of seeing Jalen sent a wave of excitement through your body. You missed him deeply and regretted letting someone else dictate your friendship with him. His quick response gave you hope that he wasn't harboring any ill feelings about the situation though.
You only had an hour to make yourself presentable so you rushed over to your duffel bag. You didn't know how Jalen would react to you in person so you decided that you had to look good enough for him to forget about any wrong you may have done.
You rummaged through your bag, pulling out your sexiest matching lingerie set, a barely-there skirt, and a top with a daring neckline. You placed your outfit on the bed before heading to the bathroom to take a brisk shower.
Once you were out of the shower you wrapped yourself in a towel and walked back into the room humming. You grabbed your vanilla and coconut-scented lotion and sat on the edge of the bed to apply it. Once your body was perfectly moisturized you slid into your entire outfit piece by piece. Then you rushed back to the bathroom with about 20 minutes to spare. For your makeup, you decided to stick with a less time-consuming natural beat before quickly shifting to your hair. You were happy that the silk press you got over a week ago was practically still intact as you used your flat iron to smooth out any frizziness.
Then for finishing touches, you sprayed on some perfume before sauntering back into the room.
Just as you were slipping on your heels you heard your phone buzz.
You grabbed it and grinned down at Jalen's "I'm outside" text. Then you picked up your purse before exiting your room. You considered knocking on Ronnie's door to tell him you were heading out but decided to just send him a quick text later on.
The elevator couldn't move fast enough as the anticipation of seeing Jalen had you jittery. Once inside of the lobby you hurriedly stalked out into the night air.
It didn't take long for you to spot the man of the hour casually leaning against his Ford Mustang. And boy was he a sight to behold. Gold hoop earring glinting, chain catching the streetlights, and a dimpled smile that made you want to kick yourself in the ass for not reaching out to him sooner. You couldn't help but take him in as you walked over, noticing that he was doing the same to you.
Butterflies swarmed your stomach as he licked his lips and closed the distance between you.
"Hey stranger," he said, pulling you into a bear hug that momentarily lifted you off your feet, the familiar scent of his favorite cologne enveloping you.
"Happy to see me?" He asked as his hands rested on your hips.
"Yes.....I am" you admitted, stupidly mesmerized by him. It had been so long since you'd seen him in the flesh, and it seemed like every little detail about him was hitting differently tonight. Right now he looked better than he ever did.
"Good. I'm happy to see yo big-headed ass too." he teased with a laugh before opening the car door for you. After climbing in you then watched as he walked around and slid into the driver's seat.
"You had anything to eat out here yet?" he asked before he started the car and pulled onto the road.
"No ... I basically just got here. I texted you a little bit after we landed so I haven't had the chance to do or see much," you explained
"Okay bet. I got you." He said with a grin.
********************************************
"So, what happened?" Jalen shot off the question as you both leaned against the island in the kitchen of his stunning penthouse, which he had excitedly shown you around about 30 minutes earlier. Perched atop a skyscraper in the heart of Philadelphia, a breathtaking view of the city flooded through the floor-to-ceiling windows, captivating you and making it nearly impossible not to glance out at the scenery.
You'd only been in Jalen's presence for a little over an hour now, but time felt like it was moving too fast. The night would be over before you knew it, and you'd be back on a plane tomorrow, traveling away from him, a thought that saddened you since it felt like you just got him back in your life.
"What do you mean?" you asked, picking up the last piece of your Popeyes biscuit and squeezing a bit of honey onto it.
Despite all the good restaurants Jalen raved about as he drove you through the streets of Philly, you two still ended up grabbing food from Popeyes just like you would do back in college. Jalen explained that being with you was special enough for him to slip up on his strict NFL diet. You went along with it, not caring about what or where you ate. You were just thrilled to be around him.
"Well, I know you probably wouldn't be here right now if you were still with ole boy... so what happened? You going M.I.A. on me wasn't enough?"
A pang of guilt washed over you at his words. You had been secretly dreading this moment, which was why you hadn't planned to bring it up yourself. You had hoped Jalen would be so happy to be around you again that he wouldn't feel the need to address it.
Of course, Jalen assumed you stopped talking to him because of your ex and he was absolutely correct. There was no other reason to ghost him.
"Uhhh, he was just very insecure about our relationship. No matter what I did, he didn't believe my heart was fully invested in him," you explained, recalling how it felt as he finished off his chicken and started gathering the trash.
"After a while, it got tiring. I felt like I constantly had to prove myself to him." As you moved over to the sink to wash your hands, Jalen did the same. You then trailed behind him out of the kitchen until you reached the living room.
"So that's what went down... He wanted you to prove yourself by leaving me alone, and you just did it?" Jalen questioned as he sat on the couch and watched you walk over to his eye-catching vinyl collection. Jalen had been collecting vinyl records long before you met him. You were astonished to see how large his collection had grown; it vividly showcased how long it had been since you and he were last physically together.
"It wasn't like that," you said softly, scrutinizing the records and choosing to avoid his gaze because you knew you were lying. It was exactly like that.
"Then what was it like?" Jalen pressed, his voice calm yet laced with genuine curiosity.
"Umm," you began, contemplating how to explain it to him so he would understand your position.
The room fell silent as you located the vinyl you were searching for: Kut Klose's Surrender album, one of your favorites. You put it on the record player and adjusted the volume before walking over to Jalen, who was still watching you intently.
You sat beside him on the couch and turned to face him.
"I was in love or at least I tried to convince myself that I was. At that time, I thought I was doing what I needed to make the relationship work. But it wasn't easy, Jalen. I missed the hell out of you," you expressed to him.
"But think about it, Jalen. If you were in a relationship and she wanted you to leave me alone based on our history... wouldn't you?" you asked hoping he would understand.
"No," he answered without hesitation.
"But relax I'm not tripping, though, Y/N, because I knew no matter what, you would end up exactly where you are right now," he continued before you could respond.
"And where's that?" you asked.
"With me."
"Oh, you think you just got it like that?" you responded jokingly.
"I know I do when it comes to you. And you know you got it like that with me, because you can text me four months after ignoring me, and I would still come running to you."
"We got it like that when it comes to each other," Jalen said, reaching over to gently place his hand on your thigh, causing goosebumps to rise on your skin.
What you and Jalen had was so selfish and would only leave anyone romantically involved with either of you with their feelings hurt. Two people with deeper feelings for each other had turned into years of sexual conquests, all to stay in each other's lives. Deep down, you both knew that to genuinely find love somewhere else, you had to let each other go.
The only reason you and Jalen weren't together was because of your personal issues. You watched your mom sacrifice her dreams to stand behind your father, who threw it back in her face every chance he got. That caused you to vow to yourself to never be in that position and you refused to sacrifice your goals for love.
So when you met Jalen in college, knowing he was destined for the NFL, you made up your mind that being with him would never work unless you sacrificed part of yourself. You liked living in Atlanta and wanted to remain there while working toward opening your boutique. You almost had the down payment for the building you wanted, and when you discussed being together with Jalen before your last relationship, he had promised to take care of whatever you needed for your boutique if you would just move to Philadelphia. Most women would jump at such an opportunity, especially if they were in love, but you didn't want to put yourself in that position.
Jalen Hurts was the type of man that people assumed a woman should be ready and willing to uproot her life for. After all, he was a famous football player; logically, you should want to be by his side, right? Even your own mother constantly questioned why you weren't with him.
But you just didn't desire that, which is why you and Jalen would most likely never be together. Still, you both ruined opportunities with other chances at love to stay in each other's lives. Your ex wasn't crazy for wanting to keep you from communicating with Jalen. He could sense that something was there, even if he didn't know its true extent. But the truth was you were in love with Jalen, yet hoped that somehow you could learn to love your ex in the same way.
But no one was Jalen and that was the problem you kept running into.
"I missed the hell out of you too, Y/N," Jalen said bringing you from your restless thoughts as he moved closer to you on the couch if that was even possible. As his hand moved from your thigh to snake around your waist you could already tell the direction of where things were heading.
One day you would be strong enough to tell Jalen that it probably would be better for you both if your arrangement ended. That maybe you could maintain some sort of friendship but the sexual intimacy had to stop.
But unfortunately, that would not happen tonight.
Something in you stirred as Jalen's eyes darkened with passion as he leaned in and you fervently welcomed his cotton soft lips against yours. Your whole body completely melted into the kiss knowing that there was no way in the world that you could resist Jalen.
You had never been capable of it.
You pushed aside all of your worries about you and him and instead decided to completely give in to the moment. Your lips parted and your tongue met Jalen's as the kiss grew frantic and sloppy. Jalen's hands were all over your body and yours were tossed around his neck pulling him closer to you. Somehow without breaking the kiss, Jalen managed to stand to his feet pulling you along with him. He then removed his attention from your lips to move over to his record player. He turned the volume up to the max before moving back to you.
"Come on," he told you as he guided you towards the direction of his bedroom as Kut Klose's "Get up on It" blasted in the background.
Somewhere on the stairs, the kissing resumed as you helped each other out of your attires leaving a trail of clothes behind you. By the time you got to Jalen's room, you both were fully naked with nothing but intentions to show the other how much they were truly missed.
Falling onto Jalen's bed you could still hear Kut Klose faintly as you scooted up to rest your head on his pillows as he mounted you. You and Jalen stared into each other's eyes for a spell. The way looked down at you caused your heartbeat to quicken as if you hadn't been in this position tons of times before. But for some reason, every single time with Jalen felt like the very first time.
Jalen broke the eye contact by placing a peck on your lips before moving down to your neck and trailing kisses down until he reached your chest. He gently bit down your left nipple before circling it with his tongue causing a shiver to shoot down your spine. As he moved to show some attention to your right nipple you felt his hand on your thigh as he slowly moved it down until he reached your bottom.
"Ummmm" you moaned as he slowly moved his fingers over your clit coating them in your wetness.
"Fuck, why you this wet for me Y/N? Huh?" Jalen asked you as he ran his fingers down to your entrance and back over your clit again. You responded in a moan to his rhetorical question not having the capacity to form coherent sentences as he eased two fingers into you. You watched as he pulled those fingers out brought them to his mouth and licked his fingers clean.
"Jalen wait," you told him as he dropped his head back down and you knew what he had intentions of doing. You could no longer fight off the desperate urge to do the same thing. You pulled him back up to you and told him to lay on his back and then moved on top of him in the 69 position.
Jalen didn't waste anything locating your clit with his tongue as you turned your attention to what was the most addictive part of his body.
His dick.
You took it into your hand and stroked it up and down as your mouth watered at just the thought of having it down your throat. You felt Jalen moan against you as you started at the base of his dick and ran your tongue up to the tip. You took the tip into your mouth and tranced it with your tongue as you dripped saliva down his length.
Then you took his full length into your mouth just like he taught you back in college. You tried to focus on maneuvering him in and out of your mouth as you felt your own climax nearing rapidly. Jalen was showing special deliberate attention to your clit trying to get you to break before he did. Anytime you two got in this position it always turned into a competition of who could make the other cum first. Jalen had a 70 percent winning record to your 30 because most of the time he always got you to break before he did.
Jalen started sucking on your clit with just the right amount of pressure as you fought hard against the urge to grind against his mouth. As you bobbed your head up and down on his dick you felt your peak in your toes then darting up your legs. As you begin to shake from trying to fight it off so hard you knew that you were up against a losing battle.
Jalen's dick flopped out of your mouth and you went back to stroking it as your climax reached the pit of your stomach.
"J-Jalen ..... fuck" you muttered as you uncontrollably came into his mouth. Your body twitched as Jalen continued to slurp on your juices until he sucked you clean. Then you weakly moved until your lips were on Jalen's again and you could taste yourself on his tongue. After sloppily making out for a minute Jalen stood up and pulled you to the edge of the bed.
"You know what to do," he told you and the tone of his voice damn near made you cum again. Jalen leaned down and gave you one last kiss before you moved onto your stomach and pulled your knees up. You positioned yourself into the perfect arch as you felt Jalen's hands move to your hips.
He grabbed you tightly and you both moaned simultaneously as he eased into your welcoming entrance. He fit inside of you like a glove almost like you were perfectly designed to be wrapped around his dick.
Jalen started with slow deep strokes that you could feel in the pit of your stomach. The type of strokes that had you gasping for air with the white of your knuckles showing as you gripped his comforter. Not messing up the rhythm Jalen caused you to whimper as he placed one foot on the edge of the bed to angle himself even deeper into you.
"Who you know fuck you like me Y/N?" Jalen asked as he effortlessly switched to a faster pace.
"Who you know have you creaming on they dick like this?" He shot another question at you that you could barely concentrate on because your whole mind and body were so focused on how good he felt inside of you.
"Huh?" Jalen asked before sending a sharp smack to one of your ass cheeks indicating that he was sneaking an answer from you.
"Huh?" He repeated.
"Only y-you Jalen" you dug deep and pushed out.
"Only you Jalen" you repeated clearly as you angled your head to make eye contact with him.
"Don't nobody fuck me like you" You told him softly. You guess it did something to him because he paused and closed his eyes for a second like he was trying not to cum. You took this as an opportunity to get even for earlier and started throwing it back on his dick.
"Fuck .... Y/N" he breathed as he opened his eyes and you watched as he looked down at how your walls were handling him. He looked so good as he watched you fuck him that before you knew it you felt yourself about to cum again. Knowing the familiar shake of your body when you were close to your end, Jalen took advantage of this by reaching down and caressing your clit. No lie, it took only a minute of that before you felt yourself making a wet mess all over Jalen's dick and you were mad at yourself for not holding on longer. He climaxed seconds later and shot his nut into you immediately making you think of whether it would be possible to get a Plan B before catching tomorrow's flight.

“NO. ABSOLUTELY NOT.”
Thaliah’s voice rings out firmly, leaving no room for argument as it fills the space of her bedroom. The statement feels like a slap, and Paige, who sits cross-legged on the floor, snaps her head up, eyes locking onto Thaliah’s.
“Why?” Paige asks, the offense clear in her tone.
Thaliah doesn’t miss a beat, looking at her like she’s completely lost her mind. “Oh, I don’t know,” she starts, sarcasm dripping from every word, “probably because she dropped us after being friends for years, then acted like a complete bitch for months. And, what? Now that she and Hudson broke up and she’s lost all her popular friends, she’s suddenly crawling back to us?” She shakes her head, crossing her arms in defiance. “Absolutely not. And, Paige, don’t forget she literally broke your heart!”
Paige feels the words hit her like a punch in the gut, a bitter reminder of the pain she’s been trying so hard to push down. Broke your heart. That part stings the most, because it’s true, even if she doesn’t want to admit it.
She swallows hard, trying to keep her voice steady. “Come on, Thal—”
Jalen, who’s been quietly scrolling through his phone on Thaliah’s bed, cuts in, his voice calm but dismissive. “P, Dani doesn’t even like basketball that much. She doesn’t need to come.”
Paige whirls around to face him, her frustration bubbling to the surface. It’s been a couple of weeks since the night of the season-opener—since Dani and Beau called it quits, and since Paige and Dani kissed at the park. That kiss had been everything Paige had imagined for so long, but it hadn’t been a magic fix for all the hurt between them. Not by a long shot.
They haven’t kissed again since, but things have shifted between them. Conversations that once felt awkward and strained are easier now. More and more, Dani smiles at Paige the way she used to—like she knows Paige better than anyone else. It’s the kind of smile that makes Paige’s heart do this stupid little flip in her chest. But it still feels like they’re walking on egg shells around each other, and Paige knows it.
Still, they’ve hung out a significant amount since and there’s been so much real progress. Paige can only hope soon everything will be almost entirely normal again. At this point, the only thing that’s truly missing is the four of them together and friends—Paige, Dani, Thaliah, and Jalen. Like it’s been for years.
But, clearly, the latters of the quartet do not feel the same. Especially because now, in Thaliah’s room with her laptop open and ready to purchase Timberwolves tickets, a tradition that’s been theirs since they were kids, neither Thaliah nor Jalen are interested in Dani coming. Even though she’s always come with them. Even though this is their last year together before college splits them up. Paige can’t stand the idea of Dani not being there, and—even with all of the recent drama—she can’t believe that her other two best friends can.
“She’s come every year,” Paige argues, her voice tightening. “It’s tradition. It’s our thing. And this is the last time we’ll all be together before we leave. She’s coming.”
Thaliah raises an eyebrow, unimpressed. “Not unless she apologizes. To both of us.”
Paige’s frustration spikes. “She’s tried to! But you still have her blocked, and you completely ignore her at school!”
Thaliah scoffs, her expression hardening. “She blocked me first!”
Jalen, ever the mediator, sighs. “Look, Paige, it’s not that we don’t get it, okay? But Dani ghosted us, and she was a total asshole. She can’t just show up like nothing happened. Especially not after everything she did to you.” He looks at Paige, his tone softening. “I mean, seriously, P—you of all people should be the last person defending her right now.”
The room goes quiet after Jalen’s words sink in, the weight of the truth pressing down on Paige’s chest. She knows what they’re saying isn’t wrong. Dani did hurt her—badly. She spent months wondering what she did to drive Dani away, nights crying herself to sleep after Dani told her they couldn’t be friends anymore. The memory still twists her stomach in knots, but—
“She’s been through a lot,” Paige says quietly, though there’s a tremble in her voice now. “You guys just don’t know the whole story.”
Thaliah’s eyes narrow. “Then enlighten us, Paige. What’s Dani been through that justifies all her shitty behavior?”
Paige bites the inside of her cheek, feeling the familiar wave of protectiveness rise up in her. She can’t tell them. She knows what Dani’s been through—everything she’s faced with her dad, the conversion camp over the summer, the fear and guilt that’s been eating her alive. It’s not Paige’s story to tell, though. And despite everything, the blonde knows Dani isn’t ready to talk about it, not yet.
She shakes her head. “It’s not my place to say.”
Thaliah scoffs, throwing her hands in the air. “So we’re supposed to just take your word for it? Without any explanation? We’ve all been through shit, but we didn’t treat our friends like crap because of it.”
Paige clenches her jaw, trying to keep her cool. “It’s not the same, Thal. Dani’s different now. You don’t know what she’s been dealing with, but she’s trying to make things right. She’s tried to apologized.”
“When? To who?” Thaliah presses. “She sure as hell hasn’t apologized to me or Jalen.”
“I told you—she tried. But how’s she supposed to if you won’t even give her a chance?”
The argument spirals, voices rising as Paige, Thaliah, and Jalen go back and forth. Every time Paige feels like she’s getting somewhere, they push back harder, reminding her of all the ways Dani hurt them, all the reasons they have for keeping their walls up. But Paige is tired—tired of having to defend Dani over something that’s hardly even her fault to begin with, tired of feeling like the only one who still believes in her. Her hands clench into fists, her throat tight with emotion.
“She’s been through enough,” Paige says, her voice cracking with exhaustion. “You guys have no idea what she’s been through. But I’m telling you—she’s trying. She’s doing the best she can. And you need to cut her some slack.”
Thaliah crosses her arms again, her expression stony. “If it’s that serious, then tell us what’s going on, Paige.”
Paige’s jaw tightens. “I can’t. You know that I would if I could. But it’s not my business to tell—seriously.”
Silence stretches between them, thick with tension. Paige can feel her pulse pounding in her ears, frustration clawing at her throat. She knows she’s not getting through to them, but she doesn’t know how else to make them understand. All she wants is for them to see the Dani she knows—the Dani who’s struggling but trying to make amends, trying to rebuild what she broke.
Finally, Thaliah sighs, throwing her hands up in exasperation. “Fine! Fine, Jesus Christ, she can come.”
Paige lets out a long breath, but it’s not relief she feels. It’s something closer to exhaustion, the kind that weighs heavy on her chest. She can tell by the look on Thaliah’s face, the tension still radiating from Jalen, that this isn’t over.
IT’S SATURDAY, and Dani’s sitting on Paige’s bed, fiddling with her hands as the silence stretches between them. She shifts uncomfortably, pulling at the sleeves of her Timberwolves hoodie, trying to figure out how to bring up the topic that’s been gnawing at her ever since Paige told her they’d all be going to the game together. Dani’s stomach churns at the thought of seeing Thaliah and Jalen again. It’s been months since things got bad, since she cut them off—cut everyone off, really—and she’s not naïve enough to think they’ll just welcome her back like nothing happened.
She glances at Paige, who’s sitting cross-legged at the end of the bed, her face focused as she scrolls through something on her phone. Dani takes a deep breath, feeling her nerves bubble up inside her.
“How bad is it? Like, seriously.”
Paige freezes, her thumb pausing mid-scroll. She doesn’t look up or make eye contact with Dani, which isn’t a great sign. Instead, she moves closer, sitting beside Dani and reaching out to gently run her fingers over one of Dani’s braids.
“These are cute,” Paige says softly, the corner of her lips quirking up. “When’d you learn to Dutch?”
Dani’s heart stutters in her chest, just for a second, at the way Paige’s voice drops, warm and affectionate. The way her fingers ghost along the braid, like it’s the most natural thing in the world to touch her like this.
She clears her throat, ignoring the way her pulse quickens and instead looks at Paige pointedly, refusing to be distracted. “Seriously, Paige. What’s the damage?”
Paige sighs, her fingers stilling before slipping away from Dani’s braid. She drops her hand into her lap, her shoulders sagging slightly as if she’s been carrying the weight of this conversation for too long already. Dani can feel her heart rate pick up, the anxiety starting to claw its way up her throat.
It’s been a few weeks since the breakup with Beau, since the night she and Paige kissed in the park and the walls she’d built so carefully around herself began to crumble. They haven’t talked about it much, that kiss. There’s been this weird understanding between them, this unspoken agreement to focus on rebuilding their friendship first. But even that hasn’t been easiest thing. And now this—seeing Thaliah and Jalen again, the two people she’s ghosted harder than anyone—it feels like a hurdle she’s not sure she’s ready to face.
“They’re… hurt,” Paige finally says, her voice soft but steady. She’s always been honest with Dani, even when it’s hard to hear. “Thaliah’s pissed. Jalen, too. They feel like you just… disappeared on them. And that hurt them, Dani.”
Dani swallows, feeling the familiar sting of guilt settle in her chest. She knows that. She knows how much she’s hurt them. But hearing it from Paige, who’s probably been their buffer through all of this—it makes it worse somehow. She pulls her legs up, hugging her knees to her chest as she leans back against the headboard, her fingers picking at a loose thread on the sleeve of her hoodie.
“I didn’t mean to hurt them,” Dani says quietly, her voice barely above a whisper. “I just… I didn’t know how to handle everything. And I know that’s not an excuse, but…”
Paige looks at her then, her eyes softening. She shifts on the bed so she’s facing Dani fully, one leg folded underneath her. “I get it,” Paige says gently. “But you gotta understand, Dani—they’re not just goin’ to forget ‘bout what happened. You have to make it right.”
Dani nods, the knot in her chest tightening. She hates this. She hates feeling like the villain in a story she never wanted to be a part of. But she also knows that Paige is right. If she’s going to fix things with Thaliah and Jalen, she has to own up to what she’s done. She’s been avoiding that for too long now, thinking she could just skate by, keep her head down, and hope everything blows over.
“How mad are they, really?” Dani asks, her voice small, almost like she’s bracing herself for impact.
Paige lets out a long breath, rubbing a hand over her face before meeting Dani’s eyes again. “Thaliah jus’ feels like you dumped us for the popular crowd, and now that you’ve lost them, you’re coming back to us as a backup. She said she wants an apology. Jalen… he’s more hurt than mad, but it’s still going to take time. He wants to understand why, but you kind of shut everyone out. Including me.”
Dani winces. The truth stings, but it’s exactly what she expected. “I didn’t mean for it to be like that,” she mutters, frustration creeping into her tone. “It wasn’t like I wanted to leave you guys. I just… I dunno, I was going through a lot of shit.”
She knows she sounds defensive, but she can’t help it. She’s been wrestling with her own demons for months, and as much as she knows she screwed up, there’s still a part of her that wants them to understand. Wants Paige to understand.
Paige tilts her head, studying Dani for a moment before speaking. “I know you were. I get that, more than anyone. But you need to explain that to them. They can’t just guess what you’re going through.”
Dani’s eyes drop to her lap, guilt mixing with frustration. “I don’t even know if I can explain it,” she admits, her voice cracking. “There’s just… so much.”
She feels the weight of everything pressing down on her—the months of confusion, of fear, of trying to figure out who she is while constantly feeling like she’s drowning in expectations she can’t meet. The summer spent at that camp, the suffocating guilt that still clings to her even now. It’s all too much sometimes, and Dani doesn’t know how to package it all neatly into an apology.
Paige leans in, her hand brushing against Dani’s knee in a way that’s comforting, grounding. “You don’t have to explain everything. Just start with ‘I’m sorry.’ The rest’ll come.”
Dani looks at Paige, her chest tightening again, but this time it’s different. There’s something warm in the way Paige is looking at her—something patient, something real. It reminds her why she’s here in the first place, why she’s willing to go through this awkward, painful reconciliation. She missed Paige. She missed her more than she could ever say.
“Okay,” Dani says quietly, nodding.
Paige smiles then, that small, gentle smile that always makes Dani feel like maybe everything’s going to be okay. The kind of smile that got her through middle school, through all the awkward, awful years of figuring out who they were together. And now, maybe, they’re figuring it out again.
Before Dani can say anything else, there’s a knock at the door, and the sound of voices filters in from the hallway—Thaliah and Jalen have arrived. Dani feels her stomach flip, anxiety tightening its grip on her again, but Paige squeezes her knee, a small reassurance before she stands up.
DANI SITS in the backseat of Jalen’s car, staring out the window, her hands folded tightly in her lap. The soft hum of the engine and the occasional muffled voices of Jalen and Thaliah are the only sounds filling the silence. It’s awkward—really awkward. The tension in the car is almost palpable, like a weight pressing down on Dani’s chest, and no amount of deep breathing is helping her get rid of it.
She glances over at Paige beside her, whose eyes are focused on her phone, seemingly unbothered by the uncomfortable atmosphere. Dani, though, can feel every second dragging on. She feels like she’s intruding, lacking the belonging she used to feel.
It isn’t supposed to be like this. Dani tried to fix things earlier, back when they were still at Paige’s house, standing awkwardly in the doorway as Thaliah and Jalen walked in. She’d worked up the courage to apologize, knowing that they both deserved it and it needed to be done. But before she could even get halfway through the first sentence, Thaliah cut her off.
“We’re late,” Thaliah snapped, her gaze avoiding Dani altogether. “We need to leave now.”
She hadn’t even looked at Dani, hadn’t let her finish. And now, Thaliah’s silent treatment is even worse. She refuses to acknowledge Dani’s presence, her eyes trained forward in the passenger seat, body angled slightly away as if Dani’s existence is something she’s choosing to ignore.
Jalen, at least, isn’t so bad. He smiled at her when they first got there, a small, hesitant smile that made Dani’s stomach unclench for a moment. He doesn’t seem to hate her, but the difference between how things used to be and how they are now is still glaring. His warmth feels distant, like a memory she’s grasping for but can’t quite reach.
Dani’s fingers twitch in her lap. She feels like she should say something; try to break the ice. But every time she opens her mouth, the words die in her throat, swallowed by the heavy silence. There’s this growing sense of dread in her chest, like she’s on the outside of a life she used to belong to, looking in through a foggy window.
Her mind replays her failed apology, over and over, until it stings so much she has to squeeze her eyes shut for a second. It’s worse than she thought it would be.
Beside her, Paige shifts slightly, adjusting her seatbelt. Dani feels a pang of jealousy at how effortlessly Paige fits into this scene, like nothing’s changed for her. Because it hasn’t really.
The car hits a bump, jostling Dani from her thoughts, and she presses herself closer to the door, feeling like she needs to take up as little space as possible. Her chest feels tight, anxiety winding itself up inside her like a spring ready to snap. She presses her nails into the palm of her hand, a small, grounding action she’s done a million times before.
Then, out of nowhere, she feels it. The soft brush of Paige’s pinky against hers. It’s so subtle that for a second, Dani wonders if it was just her imagination. But then Paige’s pinky hooks around hers, intertwining them in a simple, quiet gesture.
Dani turns her head to look at Paige, and even though Paige is still staring at her phone, the small act of comfort is enough to pull Dani back from the edge of her spiraling thoughts. Paige knows. She always knows.
The knot of anxiety in Dani’s chest loosens just a little, and she offers Paige a small smile in return. It’s not much, but it’s something. It’s a reminder that, despite everything—despite how different and weird everything feels—Paige is still here. Paige is still hers, in some way.
The silence stretches on again, thick and uncomfortable, but the connection between her and Paige helps. Dani keeps her pinky linked with Paige’s, like it’s her only lifeline in the storm of awkwardness swirling around them.
The car ride doesn’t last much longer. Soon, Jalen is pulling into the parking garage, and between him and Paige, the awkward energy in the car begins to bleed into one of excitement. Jalen’s grin is contagious, his eyes bright as he shuts the car off, and Paige is right there with him, a wide smile splitting her face.
Dani—not so much. She feels the heavy weight of the tension that’s been trailing her since the moment they got into the car, and from the way Thaliah’s sitting stiffly in her seat, Dani knows she’s not the only one. Thaliah is quieter than she’s been in the past, the sharpness in her expression tempered, but Dani can tell she’s still pissed solely because of her presence.
As they get out of the car and begin walking toward the arena, Jalen and Paige lead the way, talking animatedly about the Timberwolves’ latest games and their score predictions for today. Thaliah lingers behind them, silent, her arms crossed over her chest, and Dani is acutely aware of her presence at her side. She sees the dirty look Thaliah throws her, the subtle but deliberate shift in her body language as she moves past Dani to walk next to Jalen instead, seamlessly falling into step beside him like Dani doesn’t even exist.
Dani’s heart sinks a little further, the sting of it sharp despite everything. She already expected the cold shoulder, but seeing it—feeling it in every glance, every movement—makes it so much harder to ignore.
Paige notices it too. Dani catches the brief drop in Paige’s smile as her gaze flicks to Thaliah, eyes narrowing in irritation. Paige rolls her eyes, a quick flash of annoyance breaking through her usual composure before her grin returns. Without missing a beat, Paige wraps an arm around Dani’s shoulders, tugging her close, her body warm and familiar.
The side of Dani’s head rests against Paige’s shoulder, their height difference making the gesture feel even more intimate, like Paige is shielding her from the mess they’re all stuck in. Dani tilts her head up slightly, meeting Paige’s gaze as she grins down at her.
“This’ll be fun,” Paige says, her voice light and filled with optimism, like she’s determined to make this a good night despite everything.
Dani musters a small smile, trying to match Paige’s energy. “Yeah,” she says, but the word comes out flat, and she can see that it’s not enough for Paige.
Paige pinches Dani’s shoulder lightly, a playful edge to her voice as she nudges her again. “Come on, get excited, Dan.”
Dani forces herself to let out a small laugh, shaking her head as she leans a little closer into Paige’s warmth. “Alright, alright,” she says, her smile a little more genuine this time. “I’ll try.”
Satisfied with that, Paige’s grin widens, and she keeps her arm around Dani as they continue walking toward the arena. It helps, even if just a little. Paige has always had that effect on her, making things feel easier, less heavy. But it doesn’t completely erase the weight of Thaliah’s pointed silence, or the fact that Dani can practically feel the disdain radiating from her.
By the time they get into the arena and find their seats, Dani’s stomach is in knots again. The seating arrangement couldn’t have been worse if someone had planned it out. Jalen sits on one end, Paige right next to him, Dani beside Paige, and then Thaliah on the other side of Dani, looking like she’d rather be anywhere else.
Thaliah doesn’t say anything, but the look on her face says enough. She lets out a quiet scoff, her gaze fixed ahead as if she’s already checked out of the evening. Dani catches the slight roll of her eyes before she shifts in her seat, visibly tense, and Dani feels the urge to disappear all over again.
Dani sighs softly, sinking further into her seat and trying to shift away from Thaliah as much as possible without making it obvious. Her side presses into Paige’s, their arms brushing, and Paige doesn’t seem to mind at all. In fact, Dani thinks Paige probably prefers it this way, keeping Dani close and holding her steady like she’s done a million times before.
As the arena starts to fill with the low hum of chatter and excitement, Dani finds herself leaning into Paige just a little more, seeking the comfort she knows Paige will give her without question. She feels a soft pang of guilt, wondering if she’s relying too much on Paige to make her feel better, but the alternative—sitting there in silence, stewing in her own anxiety and the cold wall between her and Thaliah—is much worse.
It’s clear pretty early on into the game that they aren’t losing this one. Minnesota’s ahead, and the energy in the arena is infectious. Every time the Timberwolves make a good play, Jalen is up on his feet, yelling, and Paige is right there with him, her voice hoarse from screaming at the top of her lungs. It’s the kind of excitement that pulls you in, makes you forget about everything else. Dani finds herself caught up in it too, even letting out a few shouts of her own when Paige eggs her on, laughing as Paige grabs her by the shoulders and shakes her gently, her enthusiasm impossible to resist.
Thaliah, though, is a different story. She’s still sitting with her arms crossed tightly over her chest, barely reacting to anything happening on the court. Every so often, Dani glances her way and all she gets is a glare in return. Being close to Paige right now—feeling her warmth, hearing her laughter in her ear—makes everything feel a lot easier, though. Paige has her arm around Dani’s shoulder again, and they’re both giggling between plays, Paige whispering jokes and comments to her every so often, just loud enough for Dani to hear. It’s been forever since they’ve felt this close, and for a moment, Dani lets herself relax into it, lets herself enjoy the game, the atmosphere, Paige.
And Jalen—he’s warming up to her again too. At first, there had been a little distance between them, but now he’s talking to her like old times, nudging her shoulder when something exciting happens and even giving her a smile that feels genuine. It’s a small relief, a reminder that maybe, just maybe, things could get back to how they used to be.
But, for Dani, Thaliah’s discontent still casts a shadow over everything. She can’t fully escape it, no matter how much fun she’s having. It’s like a weight sitting on her chest. She wants to fix what’s happened between them—Thaliah has been one of her closest friends since the fourth grade. She doesn’t want to lose that—even though, if she truly has, she supposes it is her own fault.
At one point, Thaliah stands abruptly, muttering, “I’m going to the bathroom,” her tone clipped as she walks down the aisle. Dani watches her go, and the guilt she’s been carrying with her all night surges up again. She sighs, feeling the heaviness return as she stands up as well.
“You know what, I’m gonna go too,” Dani says to Paige, her voice quieter now.
Paige frowns, her eyes flicking to Thaliah’s retreating figure before locking back onto Dani. There’s a moment of hesitation, like Paige can sense what’s really going on, the unspoken tension that Dani’s been trying to push aside. “Do you want me to come?” Paige asks, concern lacing her words.
Dani shakes her head, offering a small, strained smile. “It’s fine. I’ll be quick.”
Paige’s frown deepens for a split second, but then she nods, giving Dani a quick squeeze on the shoulder before she goes. Dani makes her way through the crowded stands and down the hallway toward the bathroom, her heart pounding harder with each step. She doesn’t exactly know what she’s going to say to Thaliah, but she knows they can’t keep avoiding each other like this. Not anymore.
When she pushes the door open, the bathroom is surprisingly empty for a busy game like this. It’s just her and Thaliah.
Thaliah stands at one of the sinks, leaning over to check her reflection in the mirror. When she sees Dani walk in, she lets out an exaggerated sigh and rolls her eyes, not even bothering to hide her irritation. “Why did you follow me here?” she snaps, turning around to face Dani with crossed arms.
Dani swallows. “I wanted to talk to you. You didn’t let me apologize before, so I want to do it now.”
Thaliah scoffs, her expression hardening. “I don’t want to hear it.”
Despite the fact that she expected the response, Dani feels a pang of hurt at her words. Nevertheless, she presses on, refusing to back down. “Why won’t you even let me try?” she asks, her voice softer now. “I know I messed up, but—”
Before she can finish, Thaliah explodes.
“Because it’s not that simple, Dani!” Thaliah’s voice is sharp, her eyes flashing with anger. “You ghosted me. You. And you didn’t just ghost me, you ghosted all of us. And yeah, I get it, you and Paige are best friends, you always have been. But before all this happened, you were my best friend, too. Do you even realize that? You were my best friend, and then you just—disappeared. No explanation, no warning, nothing. And I had to sit there and watch you be fine with everyone else while I was the one who lost my best friend.”
Thaliah’s voice cracks at the last part, her hands trembling as she wipes furiously at her eyes, and Dani’s heart drops. She’s never heard Thaliah sound like this before—so raw, so hurt.
Thaliah takes a shaky breath, and when she looks at Dani again, her eyes are filled with tears. “I mean, sure, I’m close with Paige and Jalen, but it was never like how it was with you. You and me—we told each other everything. We did all the girly things that Paige and J refused to participate in. You were like my sister. And then, suddenly, it was like I didn’t even exist to you anymore. Do you have any idea how much that hurt?”
Dani feels her own tears welling up now, the guilt crashing over her in waves. She takes a step closer to Thaliah, her voice breaking as she tries to explain. “I—I didn’t mean to hurt you like that. I swear I didn’t. I just… I was in a really, really bad place and I was looking for distractions and I didn’t know how to deal with what happened over the summer.”
Thaliah shakes her head, her tears falling freely now. “What happened, Dani? What was so bad that you couldn’t even talk to me about it?”
Dani’s throat tightens as she thinks back to the summer—how everything spiraled out of control, how she was sent away to that camp, how she shut down completely afterward. It’s hard to even think about it, let alone fucking talk about it. Opening up to Paige about it was one of the most difficult things she’s ever done.
But she owes Thaliah an explanation. She owes her more than silence.
So, Dani opens her mouth and explains.
PAIGE IS GLUED to the game, her eyes darting between the players on the court and the scoreboard. Minnesota’s still in the lead, and every play sends her and Jalen into loud cheers, their voices blending into the roar of the crowd. She’s so caught up in the excitement that for a moment, she forgets about Dani and Thaliah being gone for a while now.
But as a timeout is called, the creeping feeling of unease seeps into her chest. It’s been too long since they left. Paige starts to wonder if something went wrong. Her mind drifts to outrageous scenarios like Thaliah jumping Dani in the bathroom or the pair rage-screaming at one another. She should’ve gone with them, Paige thinks, her foot tapping anxiously as she debates whether she should go check on them.
Just as she’s about to make a decision, Paige catches movement out of the corner of her eye. She turns her head and sees them—Thaliah and Dani walking down the aisle toward their seats. As they get closer, Paige notices the remnants of tears on both of their faces, their eyes bloodshot and a bit puffy, like they’ve both been crying.
Her stomach tightens. Did something happen?
But then she sees something else—something that surprises her. They’re smiling. Not big, exaggerated smiles, but small, genuine ones, the kind that tell her things aren’t as bad as they seem.
When they sit back down, Dani takes her spot next to Paige, and Thaliah settles back into her seat on the end. Paige’s eyes flit between the two of them, trying to gauge the situation. She can’t help but blurt out, “Uh, is everything okay?”
Dani and Thaliah exchange a tiny smile before Dani turns to Paige. Her smile is soft, and before Paige can process it, Dani’s pinky hooks around hers. It’s the smallest gesture, but it sends a jolt through Paige, her heart pounding twice as fast as before. She can barely focus on anything else, her eyes fixed on their intertwined fingers. She did it before with Dani, in the car, but it means so much more to Paige when it’s the Callan girl initiating it.
“Yeah,” Dani says, her voice light, like a weight has been lifted. “We’re great.”
Paige exhales in relief, her shoulders sagging as the tension she didn’t even realize she was holding slips away. She glances over at Jalen, who seems to have noticed the shift too. His eyebrows raise for a moment before he grins, the same ease settling over him as well.
With that, the atmosphere around them changes. The tension that had been hanging in the air for most of the night dissolves, replaced with a warmth that feels almost nostalgic. It’s like things are finally starting to feel normal again, like the cracks between them have truly started to mend. Paige doesn’t know what exactly happened between Dani and Thaliah in that bathroom, but she can tell it’s something important—something that has brought them closer, and by extension, all of them closer.
Now, they’re all locked in on the game again, but this time, the mood is lighter, more carefree. Laughing, cheering, yelling. Paige is wrapped up in it all—Jalen’s infectious energy, Dani’s quiet giggling beside her, Thaliah’s occasional smile.
When the Timberwolves win, the place erupts, and so do they. Jalen’s on his feet, yelling like he’s won the game himself. Dani and Paige share a wide grin, their pinkies still linked, and even Thaliah’s laughing and cheering now.
The ride home is great, too, the tension from the day dissolved into laughter and easy conversation. Paige can’t stop smiling, her heart lighter than it’s been in weeks. Jalen’s blasting music, and he and Thaliah are in the middle of a ridiculous debate about the best Timberwolves player of all time, while Dani chimes in with little comments that show her lack of NBA knowledge (but, it’s okay, Paige has to give it to her—Dani’s much more versed on the women’s side of things). It feels like old times, like everything is clicking back into place, and Paige can’t help but soak it in.
Jalen drops them off first, pulling into Paige’s driveway. She and Dani both wave at him and Thaliah as they drive away. The car’s taillights fade into the distance, leaving just the two of them standing in the driveway under the quiet suburban night sky.
Suddenly, the lively energy from the car ride fades into something softer, quieter. The silence between them feels heavier now, almost awkward, but not in a bad way—just charged. Paige feels the weight of it, a kind of tension that makes her hyper-aware of how close they’re standing, the cool night air brushing against her skin.
They both glance over at Dani’s house next door. It’s dark, a single light on in the kitchen, and Paige wonders if Dani is going to head back home now. She doesn’t want her to. The idea of the night ending like this feels wrong somehow. Paige shifts on her feet, her fingers fidgeting with the sleeve of her hoodie, trying to find the right words without sounding desperate or clingy.
“So, uh,” Paige starts, her voice quiet, “you wanna… come inside? I mean, we could, like, have a sleepover or something. You know, like old times.”
She bites her lip, not wanting to pressure Dani but also not wanting to be without her. She half-expects Dani to hesitate or maybe even say no, to come up with some excuse about being tired or needing to go home. But to her surprise, Dani doesn’t hesitate at all. Instead, she smiles softly at Paige, her eyes warm and familiar in a way that makes Paige’s chest flutter.
“Sure,” Dani says, shrugging like it’s the easiest decision in the world. “I told my dad I was staying at Serena’s house anyway.”
Paige grins, a laugh bubbling up before she can stop it. “That bitch,” she says, shaking her head, knowing Serena has no idea she’s covering for Dani tonight, especially because the pair are certainly not friends anymore.
Dani laughs too, nodding in agreement. “Yeah, that bitch.”
The air feels lighter now, the awkwardness between them disappearing as they head toward the front door. Paige unlocks it as quietly as she can, her heart beating a little faster at the thought of spending the night with Dani, just like they used to. It’s been so long since things were simple between them. So much has changed, but right now, it feels like they’ve found a piece of that simplicity again.
Inside, the house is dark and still. Paige’s dad and Drew must already be asleep, and she’s careful to keep the noise to a minimum as they slip upstairs to her room. When they reach her bedroom, Paige flips on the lamp by her bedside, casting a warm glow over the space. Dani immediately flops onto the bed like she belongs there, and Paige follows, laying down next to her.
They’re both quiet for a moment, just staring at the ceiling, the comfort of being back in each other’s space washing over them. Paige turns her head, looking at Dani from the side, a small smile tugging at her lips. “You want pajamas?”
“Sure,” Dani says, voice soft and relaxed.
Paige gets up, heading to her dresser and grabbing one of her oversized basketball t-shirts and a pair of pajama shorts. She tosses them to Dani, who sits up to catch them, and then Paige pulls out her own pajamas. She starts changing, pulling off her hoodie and t-shirt, when she glances back at Dani.
Dani’s back is to her, bare as she pulls off her own shirt to change into Paige’s. The lamplight casts a soft glow on her skin, and for a second too long, Paige’s eyes linger. She doesn’t mean to stare, but something about the sight of Dani’s bare back, the curve of her shoulder blades, the way her hair falls loosely against her neck, makes her pause. Fuck.
Paige’s breath catches, her fingers frozen mid-way through pulling off her hoodie. She blinks, quickly looking away, shaking her head to clear the sudden rush of thoughts. She tells herself to get it together, to not think of Dani quite like that quite yet. She needs more time.
Paige turns back around, facing the opposite direction as she finishes changing, tugging on her own pajama shirt and shorts. By the time she’s done, she feels a little more in control of herself, though the memory of Dani’s bare back is still burned into her mind.
When she faces her bed again, Dani is already lying back down on the comforter, now dressed in Paige’s clothes. The sight of Dani in her shirt, her shorts hanging loosely on Dani’s hips, does something to Paige, makes her stomach flip in a way that’s both exciting and terrifying.
But she pushes the feeling aside, climbing into bed next to Dani. And it’s not long before they’re curled up under the covers, watching How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days—Dani’s pick, of course. It’s one of those movies she’s obsessed with, knows every line by heart. Normally, Paige would tease her about it, making fun of how she could watch it a million times, but right now, she can’t even think about anything other than how close they are.
Her room is freezing—like, Minnesota-in-the-dead-of-winter kind of freezing—and they’ve naturally started gravitating toward each other for warmth. Dani’s pressed up against Paige, her head resting on the blonde’s shoulder, her arm draped lazily across Paige’s waist. Paige has one arm around the brunette, and as much as she’s trying to focus on the movie, trying to lock her eyes on the screen, it’s hard. Really hard.
Because Dani’s skin is warm. Her legs are tangled with Paige’s under the blankets, her breath soft and steady against Paige’s neck, and all of it is making the basketball player’s heart race in ways she’s desperately trying to ignore. She tells herself it’s just because it’s cold, because this is what best friends do, but her body is betraying her. Every time Dani shifts, every time her fingers brush against Paige’s side, it feels like a shot of electricity running through the blonde, and suddenly, the cold is the least of her worries.
Paige swallows, forcing herself to focus on the movie. She’s watching Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson argue about something stupid on the screen, but her mind’s not there. It’s on Dani. Paige has got this growing warmth in her chest, and it’s spreading fast, heating up every part of her.
She tries to push the thoughts out of her head. Dani’s been through so much, and the last thing Paige wants to do is push her or make her feel uncomfortable. She doesn’t even know if Dani’s ready for anything after everything that happened with her dad and… well, everything else. She doesn’t want to be the one to rush her into anything, not when she’s finally here, back in Paige’s bed, back with Paige.
But then Dani shifts again, snuggling closer, and Paige feel the smoothness of her thigh against her own. She can’t help it; her heart skips a beat. She take a deep breath, trying to calm herself down, but it’s getting harder to think straight. The scent of Dani’s shampoo, the way her hand rests on Paige’s stomach—it’s all too much.
The blonde turns her head slightly, glancing down at Dani. She’s watching the movie, but Paige can tell she’s not fully focused either. Her eyes flicker to Paige’s, and in the dim light from the TV, the Bueckers girl can see something theresomething that makes her stomach flip.
For a second, they just stare at each other, the space between them shrinking by the second. Paige’s heart pounds so hard she swears the girl beside her can hear it. But this is it. Paige knows it, and she can’t look away. The way Dani’s looking at her—it’s like everything that’s been building between them for weeks is finally about to snap.
And then it does.
Surprisingly, Dani’s the one who moves first. She leans in, closing the gap between them, and presses her lips to Paige’s. It’s soft at first, tentative, like she’s testing the waters, but the second Paige feels the warmth of her mouth on her own, she’s gone. Her brain short-circuits, and all the restraint she’s been trying to maintain disappears.
Paige kisses her back, probably a little too enthusiastically, but she can’t help it. One of her hands instinctively moves to the back of Dani’s neck, Paige’s fingers tangling in the girl’s brown hair as she pulls her closer, deepening the kiss. Dani tastes like the strawberry chapstick Paige watched her put on earlier, and her lips are soft and warm and everything the blonde has been dying to feel for longer than she cares to admit.
Dani’s kissing her back now, harder, her body pressing into Paige’s as they lie there, tangled in the sheets. Paige’s mind screams at her to stop, to slow down, but she can’t. She doesn’t want to. Her heart pounds in her chest, and every nerve in her body is on fire. The feel of Dani, the warmth of her skin, the way she moves against Paige—it’s intoxicating, overwhelming, and all the point guard wants is more.
Paige knows she should stop. She knows that if she’s not careful, she’ll scare Dani away again, just like before. She can’t mess this up. She can’t. But still, she doesn’t stop. She feels Dani’s fingers gripping her shirt, pulling Paige closer, and it feels like Dani doesn’t want Paige to stop either.
So she doesn’t.
Instead, she deepens the kiss, her hand sliding from the back of Dani’s neck down to her waist, holding her there like she’s the only thing keeping her grounded. Dani lets out a soft sigh against Paige’s lips, and it sends a shiver down the blonde’s spine. God.
In a sudden shift, Paige find herself on top of Dani, her knees sinking into the bed as she presses down against the brunette. Paige’s hands dig into Dani’s waist, feeling the warmth of her skin beneath her fingertips. Paige can’t help but smile against Dani’s mouth, a thrill washing over her. Dani’s hands find their way into Paige’s hair, tangling in the strands, and the blonde shivers at the sensation. Dani’s so responsive, so willing, and it makes Paige feel exhilarated and relieved all at once.
As she kisses Dani, a wave of pure elation washes over Paige, and she realizes just how much she’s longed for this. She didn’t know how much she needed her like this until now. Paige can feel Dani’s warmth radiating up through and into Paige’s own body, and every touch ignites a spark that sends the blonde’s heart racing.
Paige starts to kiss along the Callan girl’s cheek, trailing her lips down her jawline, savoring the way Dani reacts. Her sighs are intoxicating, a melody Paige never wants to stop hearing. When she kisses along the brunette’s neck, a soft gasp escapes her lips, and it fills Paige with a sense of pride that she can elicit that kind of response from her. It’s fucking perfect.
Paige’s hands instinctively wander beneath the hem of Dani’s—well, technically her own—shirt, fingers gliding across her soft skin. The moment Paige realizes Dani’s not wearing a bra, her breath hitches. A rush of heat floods through her, a mix of surprise and unrestrained want that makes her heart race even faster.
Paige finds one of Dani’s breasts, wrapping her hand around it. She squeezes lightly, her thumb brushing over Dani’s nipple. Dani’s hand tightens in Paige’s hair and she’s pulling Paige back so that their lips are connected once more. Paige’s tongue slips its way into Dani’s mouth and she kneads her breast again, making Dani whimpers a little into the kiss. It only makes Paige kiss her harder. Dani’s lips feel like home against Paige’s, and the blonde can’t get enough of the taste of her, the softness that send shivers down her spine. Paige’s hands roam over Dani’s body, exploring, seeking, and finding every inch of skin that sends electric jolts through them both.
As Paige traces her fingers along Dani’s waist, she feels almost a magnetic pull drawing her lower. Her hand eventually finds the waistband of the loose pajama shorts Dani’s wearing, and Paige pauses there, heart racing, uncertainty flooding her mind. She’s kissing along the brunette’s neck, savoring her warmth, but Paige’s thoughts are tangled in fear. She doesn’t want to push Dani into something she isn’t ready for. The last thing she wants is to scare her away after they’ve fought so hard to get back here.
Paige breathes deeply, stealing a glance at Dani’s face, looking for any sign of hesitation or discomfort. But Dani doesn’t pull away, doesn’t hesitate. Instead, her grip on Paige’s hair tightens, and the blonde can feel Dani’s hips lift slightly against her, a silent permission that sends Paige’s heart soaring.
Emboldened by Dani’s response, Paige slips her fingers beneath the waistband of the shorts, her pulse quickening at the contact. She’s careful, her movements tentative as she goes beneath the hem of Dani’s underwear, too. Paige finds Dani’s clit easily enough, circling it slowly, carefully. The way Dani gasps at the touch is intoxicating, and Paige swallows the sound with another deep kiss, savoring the taste of Dani’s moans against her mouth.
Paige’s fingers move with more purpose now, circling Dani’s clit a couple more times before sliding her hand down slightly, pushing her middle finger inside. Paige hears Dani’s breath catch and so does her own as she feels Dani’s wetness coat her finger.
Paige has done this with other girls, done this with Dani once before, too—that summer night before everything went to shit. But this feels different; it feels better, deeper, as if all the months apart have heightened every sensation. Paige revels in it, enjoying the way Dani moves beneath her touch, the way she leans into Paige, wanting more.
Dani’s fingers are still tangled in Paige’s hair, pulling her closer, urging her on, and every gasp and sigh she releases ignites something within Paige. Paige’s lips linger along Dani’s jaw as she pushes her hand deeper into her pajama shorts, her middle finger pumping in and out of Dani’s entrance slowly. Paige is hyper-aware of the way the Callan girl’s breath quickens, how it becomes shaky and uneven as Paige’s finger moves slowly but surely.
Dani gasps again, mumbling as she shifts beneath the blonde a little, “P.” Her voice is desperate, like she needs more.
Paige hums, nodding against Dani, knowing exactly what to do. She slips another finger inside, stretching Dani out, pushing in and out, in and out, building a rhythm. Dani’s lips part and a moan slips out from beneath them. God, Paige could get lost in the sounds. Each whimper and moan that escapes Dani’s lips sends a thrill through the blonde, a rush of satisfaction that makes her want to hear more. It’s as if every sound that Dani makes is a piece of music Paige never knew she needed, and she wants to hit repeat, to keep her best friend whimpering like that for as long as possible. Each gasp, each sigh, it’s like a drug, and Paige is completely hooked.
Nevertheless, she knows that they have to be quiet. Her dad’s room is right next door, and Paige has no interest in waking him up and having him realize what exactly is going on in his daughter’s room. So, she presses her mouth back on Dani’s, swallowing her moans, humming in approval at the feeling.
Paige pushes her fingers deeper, a little harder, feeling the way Dani shivers beneath her. When Paige feels Dani lift her hips to meet her hand, bucking up, Paige knows she’s found the rhythm and the spot Dani needs. Paige smiles into their kiss, her teeth nipping a little at the brunette’s bottom lip. Dani responds eagerly, her hand that’s on the back of Paige’s neck pulling her closer, until there’s practically no space to even breathe. Paige doesn't care.
“Like that?” Paige whispers against Dani’s lips, keeping her voice low and steady, wanting Dani to know she can be honest with her. Paige feels Dani nod against her, her eyes half-lidded and glazed over as she manages to hum out a soft, “Mhm-hm.” Paige grins a little at the response, her tongue slipping back into Dani’s mouth as she kisses her harder.
Paige focuses on the spot she’s found, her fingers pressing in just the right way. The way Dani arches her back and digs her nails into the blonde’s neck tells Paige everything she needs to know. She curls her fingers in a come hither motion and it makes Dani’s hips stutter a little, the brunette gasping Paige’s name into her mouth.
“Doin’ so good for me, Dan,” Paige encourages, her voice barely above a whisper, urging her best friend on. She can feel Dani tightening around her fingers, feel her getting wetter and wetter with each thrust of Paige’s fingers. Paige hits that spot again and again, her thumb reaching up to circle Dani’s clit.
Dani’s breathing becomes more erratic, quick bursts of air escaping her lips as Paige continues to work her fingers, pushing her closer and closer. “So pretty, Dani,” Paige murmurs, even though she’s not sure if the girl can hear her over the sound of her own gasps. But Paige needs her to know—she deserves to hear it, to feel it in every part of her. “You’re so pretty.”
Suddenly, Paige feels Dani’s body tense, feels the way she’s clenching around her fingers. Dani’s nails are digging into the back of Paige’s neck, her grip tightening. Paige works her fingers harder, faster, hitting that spot again and again and again until her hand is cramping, but it doesn’t deter her. She keeps going until Dani’s muttering, “God, Paige, I’m gonna—” and she’s gushing around Paige’s fingers.
Dani’s body shudders beneath the blonde, her hips lifting instinctively to meet Paige’s touch as she helps her ride through her orgasm. Paige is lost in the way Dani’s body reacts, the way she clings to her as if she’s her lifeline. It’s everything Paige has ever wanted.
As she finishes, Paige feels Dani relax against her, her body softening, and Paige pulls her fingers out slowly. She pulls away from Dani a little, to see her face. Dani’s smiling lazily at her, and it makes Paige smile, too. Paige leans down to kiss her again, deeply, savoring the way their lips fit together.
I love you. Paige wants to say it. She’s never wanted to say anything more. But she doesn’t, instead keeps her mouth on Dani’s, afraid that she’ll ruin the moment and scare Dani away.
As the kiss ends, Paige gently rolls off of Dani, settling so they’re lying side by side. Dani’s arm drapes over Paige’s waist, and Paige pulls her closer, the feel of Dani’s steady breathing against her chest soothing in a way that grounds her.
They’re both quiet now, the sounds of the movie filling the room. Dani nestles into Paige, her face resting in the crook of Paige’s neck, and it makes Paige’s heart swell. There’s something so innocent, so peaceful about the way Dani clings to her, trusting and content.
It doesn’t take long before Dani’s breaths become slow and even, and Paige realizes she’s fallen asleep. Paige glances down at her, taking in the sight of her best friend—her person—so calm and safe in her arms. Dani looks so different like this, her usual guard completely down, her features soft and untroubled.
But as Paige watches her sleep, her thoughts begin to drift. She can’t help but think about all the shit Dani’s been through—the conversion therapy, the isolation, the fear. A tightness forms in Paige’s chest, a knot of guilt that’s been there for months. She knows some of it is her fault. She was the one that kissed Dani on the porch that night, right in front of the camera. Maybe if she’d waited until they got inside, Dani’s dad would’ve never found out and none of this would have happened.
Paige’s jaw clenches as she thinks about Dani’s father. The man who sent her to that camp, who made her believe there was something wrong with her. The anger that bubbles up inside Paige is almost overwhelming. She hates him for what he’s done to Dani, for the pain he’s caused her.
She presses a soft kiss to the top of Dani’s head, her fingers brushing lightly through her hair. Paige just wants to protect her. Keep her safe. Keep her happy. And most of all, keep her away from him—from the man who nearly destroyed her. Still, she knows that’s unrealistic. Dani lives with her father—he provides for her, he’s her guardian and shes still a minor.
Paige sighs, tightening her grip around Dani, holding her a little closer, a silent promise to herself that she’ll do whatever it takes to make sure Dani never feels that kind of pain again. She’ll be there, she’ll fight for her, and she won’t let Dani’s father mess with what they have.
As the weight of the day starts to pull at her, Paige closes her eyes, resting her cheek against Dani’s hair. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days plays on, but Paige isn’t paying attention to it anymore. All that matters is this—Dani here with her, the two of them together.

‘And I know that you’re not honest
Now you got me yellin’
That’s because I’m jealous’
Tumblr media Tumblr media
‘I’m just jealous, I’m just human’
Jalen sat at the edge of the bed, his head in his hands, as his mind replayed the events that just occurred. He was upset, he knew that there hadn’t been anything going on between him and the guy tonight, and he couldn’t believe Nick would even think he’d do something like that. He loved Nick, and would never hurt him, and Nick should’ve known that. But, the more and more Jalen sat with his thoughts, he came to a realization, and immediately rose to his feet, heading towards the bathroom door.
He stood there hesitating at first, wondering if he should just let it go, and sleep on the couch, but he didn’t think that was fair. He didn’t start the argument after all, so he shouldn’t have to be the one to apologize first, he thought. But their relationship meant too much to him, Nick meant too much to him, and they agreed to never go to bed angry, so he swallowed his pride, and knocked.
“Baby, open the door. Let’s talk about this,” Jalen says, now desperately wanting to apologize.
“I’m done talking, J. Just leave me alone!” Nick responds through the door, and Jalen could hear him sniffling, which made his heart break.
“I’m sorry, peach. C’mon, please, open the door,” Jalen pleaded, twisting at the knob, sighing when he was left with silence. He pressed his forehead against the door, uttering a final ‘please.’ He closed his eyes, feeling defeated, until he heard a click from the other side.
Nick opened the door, his eyes were wet and red, and before Jalen could even say anything, Nick had turned and walked back to the sink, before sitting on it. Jalen stepped in cautiously, settling across from him, leaning against the shower wall. A heavy silence fell between the two for a while, until Nick spoke up.
“Is that really all you think of me?” he mumbled as he looked down, avoiding eye contact. His eyes caught hold of their matching shoes. Despite how hurt he was, the sight of it made his heart skip a beat.
“No, of course not. I don’t…I-I didn’t mean-“
“You said it,” Nick cut him off.
“I know, and I shouldn’t have. I was just upset, and offended, and I know that’s not an excuse but,” Jalen trails off, “Nick, we can’t keep doing this,” he mumbled.
Nick's head shot up, eyes narrowing at what he thought his boyfriend was implying, “W-what are you saying…?” he replies, baffled.
Jalen rushed to Nick, wanting to reassure him that he wasn’t saying what he knew Nick was assuming, “I’m not saying anything. C’mon, peach, just talk to me. Actually talk, no more arguing,” His tone was soft, pleading, as he now stood in front of Nick. He wanted so badly to touch him, but decided against it, not wanting to make him more upset, or uncomfortable.
Nick looked everywhere, but at the man in front of him. Jalen moved to sit beside him on the sink, another heavy silence falling between the couple. Jalen knew how much Nick hated being so vulnerable, so instead, he spoke up, in hopes that Nick would open up more.
“You know…maybe I did get carried away tonight. I’m too friendly at times, and I can admit that. I guess, I wasn’t thinking about how all that might look to you, or how it would make you feel, and I’m sorry. I know you weren’t being insecure, that was stupid of me to say. I shouldn’t have been so defensive. Your feelings are valid, and I should have considered them. You weren't being dramatic. Well,” he pauses, “Maybe a little bit,” Jalen teases, earning a small chuckle from his boyfriend.
“If I’m being honest, had the roles been reversed, I probably would’ve reacted the same way. I never meant to hurt you, peach.” Jalen says sincerely, as he turned his head slightly to look at Nick, who was staring down at the floor below him. After a bit of silence, the dread headed boy slid off of the sink, deciding to let Nick have some space to think. As he inched towards the door, he heard a very faint ‘wait’.
Nick finally decides to speak up, his voice weak, and cracking, from all the crying just prior. “I was jealous, and maybe I overreact-“ Jalen interjects, walking back towards Nick.
“No, you were right. I should’ve-“
“No, J, let me finish,” Nick says, interrupting Jalen.
“I overreacted. Deep down, I knew you weren’t flirting with him, or anything like that. I just hated watching you enjoy someone else's company so much.” Nick began, his eyes still not meeting Jalen’s as he bit his lip, hoping it would help bite back the tears, “I guess, I was just pushing you away cause I’m-“ Nick shrugs slightly, wondering if he should even admit something like this. “Scared.” He whispered, his eyes fluttering as the tears that were rebuilding finally broke free.
“Scared of what, baby?” Jalen asks, as he steps even closer, settling in between his lover's legs. He cups Nick’s face in his large hands, his desert brown eyes looking deeply into the ocean blue ones beneath him, as his thumb gently swipes the tears that had fallen.
“Losing you. Of you finding peace, and happiness with someone else…With someone like him,” Nick admits, his voice croaking out the last sentence.
“I don’t want anyone else. I don’t need anyone else. That guy meant nothing to me, absolutely nothing. He wasn’t even that funny, I was just trying to be nice. Nick, there’s not one person that can compete with you, baby. You’re it for me.” Jalen reassures him.
Nick immediately becomes flustered, his cheeks, and ears beginning to heat up, as he playfully pushes Jalen away from him, “Stop making me blush.”
Jalen chuckles at Nick's suddenly shy demeanor, “It’s true, peach. I’m so sorry about tonight.”
“I’m sorry too, J. I shouldn’t have lashed out like that, I should’ve just been honest about how I was feeling. It won’t happen again.” Nick vowed with confidence, he would never let what transpired tonight happen again. He loved Jalen, and what they had so much.
Nick engulfed Jalen in a hug, his face buried in his chest, as Jalen’s arms wrapped around Nick’s shoulders. Jalen softly kisses the crown of Nick’s head, a much lighter silence now falling amongst them.
“I love you,” they both whisper at the same time, before chuckling.
Jalen pulls back, leaning down, capturing Nick’s lips. He tries his best to pour every ounce of love he has into it. Nick deepens the kiss, moaning into his mouth as his arms wrap around Jalen’s neck. Jalen swiftly swoops Nick off of the sink, carrying him into the bedroom, without breaking the kiss. He then lays him gently on the bed, his tall frame hovering over Nick’s petite one. Nick's hands roam his boyfriend's body as they kiss passionately, his fingers brush against Jalen’s brown skin as he slides them under his shirt. He then tugs it off of him, breaking the kiss for just a moment before kissing him again.
The feeling of Jalen’s lips on his was driving the brunette wild, but he was craving more of him. He managed to unbutton Jalen’s jeans, before dipping his hand inside. A gasp emitted from Jalen’s lips, as he pulled away from the kiss when Nick’s hand palmed his semi hard dick through his boxers. Jalen’s hips involuntarily buck into Nick’s hand, as he worked his length, his thumb tracing circles around his tip, coating it with the precum that had already leaked.
“Mine,” Nick says, more as a statement than a question, his eyes staring into Jalen’s while he pumped his length, and Jalen let out a ragged breath, “Fuck yes, all yours,” he nodded, as he moaned.
Jalen takes Nick’s hand from his body, before swiftly discarding both of their clothes. He then reaches into the nightstand, grabbing a bottle of lubricant, before squeezing it onto his fingers. He spends some time working Nick open, as he moans at the feeling of Jalen’s fingers curling inside of him.
Nick gasps once Jalen carefully slides into him. No matter how many times they’ve been intimate, he never gets used to his size. Jalen moans at the way Nick fits him like a glove, almost like he was made just for him. He leans down to kiss the brunette’s neck, sucking and biting at his skin, before smoothing the mark over with his tongue. The sensation against Nick’s sensitive spot causes him to whimper in Jalen’s ear.
“God, I love all the little sounds you make,” Jalen groaned, as hips rocked against Nick’s.
His thrusts were slow and deep, as he had their hands interlocked above Nick’s head. Nick instinctively wraps his legs around Jalen’s waist, drawing him even deeper. His body shook with pleasure each time Jalen bottomed out inside of him.
“So deep, feel so good, f-fuck” Nick moans, as he squeezed on Jalen’s hands. His manicured nails leave crescent moons on his caramel skin, as they dug into the flesh.
“Yeah? Taking me so well, peach, so pretty,” Jalen whispered against his neck. His lips trail down to his boyfriend’s chest, and his teeth latch onto his nipple, and Nick whines. Jalen smooths it over with his tongue, then sucks it, flicking it every so often, before doing the same to the other one. Nick moaned, his back arching at the feeling. Jalen leans up, connecting their lips again, as he releases Nick’s hands, and they immediately wrap around Jalen’s neck, pulling him close.
Their bodies continued to move together in harmony, as the sun began to rise, and Nick felt his release approaching. He lifted his hips in an attempt to meet his lover’s strokes, the motion causing Nick’s walls to squeeze deliciously around Jalen, and he let out a low growl. As he felt that familiar feeling rising, he reached down between them, grabbing Nick’s length, before working his tip with the palm of his hand.
“Jalen…” Nick whimpered, as his body shuddered. His nails dig into Jalen’s back, as he’s brought closer, and closer to the edge.
“I know, baby, I know. Cum with me.” Jalen encourages, as he bottoms out for a final time. His hips stutter while he empties his load deep inside of Nick, as they cum in sync.
Jalen collapses on top of him, both panting, as he peppers soft kisses along Nick’s shoulder. He rolls off of him carefully, before pulling Nick to his side, his arm cradling his back. The brunette rests his head on Jalen’s chest, loving the way their heart beats synchronized.
“I love you, J. I couldn’t have asked for a better boyfriend.” Nick confessed, as he reached up to caress Jalen’s face, pressing a soft kiss on his jaw.
“I mean, you could. You just wouldn’t find one,” Jalen teased, as he winked down at Nick.
“Oh my god, shut uppp,” Nick rolls his eyes, slapping Jalen’s chest playfully, as they both laugh.
Jalen kisses the top of Nick’s head lovingly, “I’m just kidding. I love you, peach. Today, tomorrow, and forever.”
‘If you’re keeping your promise, I’m keeping mine’

Do You Have Something to Tell Me?
Veneer x GN!Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: You’re a normal teen in Mount Rageous, and the biggest Veneer fan known to man. Everybody that knows you knows it too. Unfortunately it’s highly unlikely to date the celebrity of your dreams…unintentionally.
A/N: I’m working on the request but I’ve had this for a bit so I finished it today and uploaded it for the time being. Also please forgive me if I use a certain amount of pronouns. With other content I’ve made before I’ve usually made female reader content so if I say she, as in referring to you please forgive me.
Happy New Years 🥳🎉
Tumblr media
“Seriously (____)?” one of your friends side eyed you as as you burst out in giggles in response. You had invited your two best friends over (Liliana and Romar) for your annual two night sleepovers, and currently you were killing time by watching Veneer and Velvet’s (mostly Veneer) latest concert footage. Well not really killing time according to you, it was a way of life.
“You seriously brought us over here to watch you drool over Veneer?” Liliana continued as your giggling came to a halt. “I did not invite you over here for that. Especially since I am watching Veneer AND Velvet, get it straight guys.” You replied as Romar got up and came over to your bed where you were watching on your MacBook. “Sweetie you literally zoomed in on him and cropped his sister out…” you started kicking your feet and giggling again. “This is insane, I’ve never met anyone with such an obsession over anybody ever. You don’t even pay your boyfriend this much attention.” Liliana said and Romar agreed. “Who?” You said still staring at the screen as your friends both leaned back and cocked an eyebrow at you. “Oh, Jalen…him…right.” You sighed closing your laptop.
It was silent for a while before anyone spoke again. “How about we do our favorite activity to do when we’re all together?” Romar asked as you and Liliana perked up. “SHOPPING!” You all shouted in unison.
________________________________________________________
“Let’s do a challenge guys.” You said to your friends as you all entered the Mount Rageous Mall. “Let’s put outfits together with a budget, a timer, and a person to customize.” You said as your friends agreed. “Bet. But where will we get the details from?” Liliana asked. “A generator or something.” Romar grabbed his phone and typed in a few things. The results ended up being: a budget of 35$, 40 minutes, and Romar got you, you got Liliana, and Liliana got Romar.
“On a count of three…” Liliana started, suddenly both of you almost fell over with the quick take off of Romar running through the mall. “HEY! WE’RE NOT done y-yet…and he’s gone.” She said as you both simultaneously face palmed and took off two different directions.
Your first stop was a store that was highly underrated in your opinion. It had great and reasonably priced outfits and none of your friends knew about it (yes you were gatekeeping but who cares). You ran all up and down the store for something Liliana might like. ‘Her favorite color is green, that’s a start’ you thought. You finally found a green top in her size and were now looking for some bottoms. You looked at the timer ‘32 minutes left’. You had to hurry and find some bottoms because more people started to enter the store. ‘Huh, guess this store’s not too underrated anymo-” your thoughts were cut short as you noticed someone running at the same pace towards you, and quite literally collided with them.
‘Sh*t that hurt’. The person you collided into let out a sort of high pitched “OW” that was very dramatic and dragged out. He almost sounded like…no. You sat up planning to apologize to the person, hoping it would roll over and you could be on your way. After all you only had 29 minutes left to checkout then hit up the accessory store.
“I’m sorr-”
“Ow, what the hell’s wrong with you?”
That shut you up real quick. What weren’t about to do was apologize to a blockhead. There was something weird about the way he responded. His high pitched voice had deepened when he came to his senses. “Excuse me?” You said standing up as he did too. The guy had a purple hoodie on covering his hair, but left some strands of it hanging, which was green. He had on glasses covering his eyes, pale white skin, and purple lipstick. He almost reminded of someone but you couldn’t put your finger on it.
“You should watch where you’re going next time.” The boy said dusting himself off. Now you were getting angry and the guy stuttered a bit. “Wait that’s not what I-” “Who do you think you are?” You blurted out.
“I was just saying…”
“Well maybe if you’d stop running your mouth every three seconds, your future altercations could be less painful.” And with that you grabbed your items off the floor, and made your way to the checkout leaving the boy stunned.
________________________________________________________
After hitting up the accessory store you and your friends had planned to meet up in the food court. “I seriously think I won this, like no joke.” Romar said. “Absolutely not it was me!” Liliana said shaking him. “I don’t know Lili, the outfit I picked out for you was kinda cute.” You said as you three went back and forth.
“Y’all are exhausting and I’m hungry, let’s eat.” Romar said and the disagreement was over as you three frantically traced the smells in the food court. Once in line you told your friends about the interaction with the rude guy you’d met in the store you went to. “Girl I woulda beat his as*” Lili said getting rowdy. “Uh we don’t condone violence over here mam.” Romar laughed as you two chuckled.
Once you ordered Romar offered to wait for everyone’s food and Lili took a phone call. You decided to sit down at a empty table and scroll through social media to kill time. You had scrolled endlessly for a few minutes before a Veneer edit popped up on your for you page. You stopped and watched it again, and again, and again, and maybe another time.
It’s only when a sudden voice snapped you out of your daydream, “Hey.” You jumped quickly and looked where the voice was coming from. It was that rude dude from the store earlier behind you. Rolling your eyes you quickly got up to leave but he stopped you, “Wait please don’t go.” He said. ‘He thinks I’m really gonna stay after the way he was talking to me earlier’ you thought, but you did stay.
You looked up at him waiting for him to speak again, you also noticed him eyeing your phone. The Veneer edit was still on repeat. ‘How embarrassing’ you turned your phone off and laughed nervously. You wondered if he had been behind you when you had the edit on loop, or if you were almost drooling or flustered at all.
“What is it?” You asked him as he turned his attention back to you. “Oh right um,” he sat down in the chair across from you, “I just wanted to apologize for earlier. I don’t usually act that way I actually felt really bad.” He said as you eyed him, like you were scanning him. “I’m so serious, like what I was saying I didn’t mean for it to come out like that. I have a lot of things to think about right now and I guess I didn’t think too hard on how to approach the situation.” He continued. You “scanned” him even more, he seemed sincere.
Suddenly your face softened and you could to tell his worry dropped a little too. “It’s ok I get it, I’m sorry for not hearing you out I was just in a rush.” He smiled a bit at this. “So what’s your name?” He asked. “I’m (____). What about you?” You asked. “Oh I’m V-Victor.” He said almost as if he was thinking too hard. “Nice to meet you Victor.” “You too.” “So do you live around here?” You two were in such deep conversation you didn’t see your friends staring you and this boy down until the had to frantically wave at you. You let them know you’d be there soon with your face and they took off somewhere in a hurry. Actually a couple people did, there was a little crowd forming at the front of the mall.
“What’s going on?” You said looking at the front, mid conversation. Victor looked almost panicked for a moment but calmed his face. “Not sure but I think I have to get going.” He said grabbing his bags. “Ok I get it, do you mind if I ask you one more thing though?” you asked. “Hit me.” He replied. “Why are you wearing glasses, can I see your eyes before you go?” You chuckled as he did the same. “Not this time, maybe another time.” He smiled at you, grabbed his last bag, and just like that he was gone.
‘Another time?’ You thought. He’s gotta be stupid there’s like a one in a thousand chance you’ll ever run into him again at Mount Rageous. You looked down at your phone and on top of it laid a piece of paper. You opened it to find a note: “Call me sometime? ;)” with a phone number under it and Victor’s name. He was quick with it.
Was he flirting with you? Why else would he put a winky face. ‘Little does he know, I’m loyal to my boyfriend’ you thought. “And my future husband Veneer.” You thought out loud before quickly closing your mouth and hoping nobody heard you. That’s when you realized more than half of the people at the food court was gone.
Suddenly Lili came up to you and grabbed your hand, “Come on come on! (Name) you will not believe what’s happening!” She sqeauled. “What? Just tell me!” You shouted while she dragged you to the front of the mall. “No you have to see it for yourself.” She said. “Nope,” you stopped and pulled your arm back, “I won’t go until you tell me what it is.” You tried being stubborn and it was working, Lili’s eye twitched a bit. “Fine! You wanna know so bad, it’s Velvet!” She sqeauled loosing her composer. “Velvet? As in-” “THE Velvet! Superstar and sibling to your man Veneer yes!” But you had only heard up to the Veneer part because you took off.

MISSED YOU

JALEN HURTS x blackfem!reader
SUGGESTED TUNES 💿: Freefall by Kaytranada & Durand Bernarr, I Miss You by Beyoncé, Backseat by Ari Lennox
WARNINGS: 18+, SMUT, Jalen being a low-key soft boy, praise kink, use of AAVE/N-word, etc.
AUTHOR’S NOTE: this is my 1st fic, enjoy! (also this hasn’t been proof read so please ignore any typos lol) / GIF CREDIT: @fixedfour
“Arch it just like that…”
The sound of wet skin slapping against each other bounces off the bedroom walls. The comforter felt soft underneath Y/N’s grip, a perfect contrast to the rough one Jalen on had on her hips. The calloused pads of his fingertips swiped at the swell of her hips as he pistoned in and out of her….in and out…in and out…
“Fucckkk,” Jalen groaned, “A nigga missed you, you missed me huh?”’
Y/N felt her pussy flutter at the hoarseness in his voice. At had an edge to it, like he needed to hear her somehow, some way.
A smart slap on her ass interrupted Y/N’s drift in thought. She turned her head to look at Jalen, completely zeroed in on his torso. His skin glistened with sweat as his sculpted chest held a slight red hue. A gold chain glittery, shined brightly under the soft, candle light. The J initial swayed back and forth in tandem the rhythm of his strokes. Her eyes combed upwards. Y/N shuddered at the sight, his plump bottom lip was tucked tightly between his teeth. Yet, his eyes were round and saucer like. He gaze was so soft and held a such anticipation that he practically, begged for the words to come tumbling off her tongue. He needed to hear you say it, you missed him, you missed the he touched you, you missed the way he fucked you…
A small whimper escaped Y/N’s mouth as tears prickled in her eyes. The whole sight was so overwhelming but she loved every single minute of it.
“Babyyyy,” Y/N whined. She felt the familiar thrumming sensation as her orgasm quickly approached. Her walls contracted and squeezed around Jalen’s dick. “I missed you so much, baby, fuck! You fuckin’ me so good.”
Rewarding Y/N for her confession, Jalen fucked her harder, and deeper, while he rasped endless praises into her ear.
Fuck, you know I love you right.
You doin’ so good for me, takin’ me.
Pussy so tight, you squeezing me, Mama.
With his throwing hand, Jalen licked this thumb before he reached around Y/N’s stomach, towards her pussy. He rubbed lazy circles on her clit. Y/N felt something inside her snap, her orgasm hurdled towards the surface. Jalen continued to fuck her as she writhed and convulsed around him.
“Jalennnnnnnn,” Y/N moaned. She attempted to claw her up the bed towards the head board, only for Jalen’s quick reflexes to kick in as he snatched her back against him.
“Don’t run baby, you was doin’ so good,” Jalen rasped. He placed a sweet kiss on Y/N’s shoulder, that sent chills down her spine. “I’m almost there, mama. Fuck, just keep squeezing me like that.”
His normal composure was long gone as he pounded against Y/N’s g-spot. He relentlessly drove into her, completely lost in her warmth and wetness. A loud moan of his name, pushed him over the edge. Jalen’s hips snapped as he unloaded inside of the condom. His body convulsed as a slew of curses left his lips. Y/N’s moaned as she lazily grounded her hips against Jalen, secretly wishing there was no barrier between them. That she could feel all of him, his cum filling her up, warming up her insides. One day…
Despite Y/N’s whiny protests he slowly pulled out of her. Jalen sat on the side of the bed, he easily pulled the condom off, tied it in a knot, and threw it in the trash can. Y/N shivered from the after shocks of her orgasm as she turned and brought the comforter over her body. Jalen rejoined Y/N, he slid himself underneath the comforter, lying gently onto her stomach. Wrapping his arms around her, he held her close to him. With soft fingers, Y/N drew loopy circles against Jalen’s curls. He hummed, the vibrations sent shivers through her body.
“You missed me that much, huh?” Y/N teased.
Eyes closed, a sly grin grew across his lips. His eyes fluttered open, soft and thick eyelashes batted against the tops of his cheeks.
“Hell yeah, I did,” Jalen’s hands slid upwards softly cupping on of Y/N’s breast. Still sensitive, Y/N moaned in response. “So much, I think I got another round in me.”

If you haven't already read Part 1 and Part 2, I suggest you stop what you're doing and read those before going any further.
Summary: As things start heating up with Devon, you start noticing that things are a little off. Once things start coming together, you are in for a BIG surprise. Meanwhile, in the present, you are trying to find out how to peace things up with James for the sake of the project and your grade.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two days later, I found myself wandering the halls of the library, looking for the required reading for Professor Martinez’s class. After finding them, I decided to head to the Tech Center and see if I could start the assignment. I hadn’t seen James around campus at all after that day. I had never really looked out for him before, either. With the challenge I agreed to, still lingering in the back of my mind, I had decided to briefly apologize and have some hightled text that we could use in the project ready to go. In the meantime, I would start writing about grief and what I understood of it. I arrived at the tech center and went to the far left in the middle corner, my favorite spot. I sat all the books down, took my computer out of my bag, and opened it to a blank Google document. Most of the pain in my life happened before I could even formulate the words to express and process them. Some of the pain had been buried so deep that it would hurt to unearth them now. After all, this was a class assignment and not a therapy session. Some of the feelings that I had couldn’t be described because they were no longer there. I felt a little numb to it. There was no pain I remembered more vividly than the day I found out that my entire relationship with Devon had been a lie.
I know that sounds crazy coming from someone who had to bury her mother, but as I said, I haven’t really processed and uncovered the magnitude of that day. We were made to busy ourselves with schoolwork and to make sure we got into the best colleges. My sister and I were made to join multiple extracurricular activities to be “well-rounded” candidates for college and beyond. We were made to be perfect. I don’t think there was any time for grief and mourning. Before I came to college, I asked my sister to tell me about what happened at the funeral and beyond. I couldn’t seem to remember, and I wanted to add it to my valedictorian speech. She told me that right before the funeral, I had sat for hours in front of my mother’s vanity in her walk-in closet, combing my hair. She said I was in a trance and wouldn’t answer when my dad called. He finally found me at the vanity. I still wouldn’t respond to him. I just kept combing my hair until I started to pull strands out. In an attempt to pull the comb out of my hand, he broke the comb, and I started screaming. She said I screamed for what seemed like hours, and my dad had to call some of my aunts to calm me down. I remember her vanity and the closet but not much about the broken comb. The day I do remember is the day I found out about Devon’s girlfriend.
We had been in a “fuck-a-thon” for weeks since we met at the gallery opening. I wanted to be around him. Smell him. Crawl into his skin. I hung onto his every word. I would only leave his apartment to go to class. Even in class, I barely paid attention. I was on my phone looking at pictures of him or reading through old text messages, re-imaging scenes from the night before. Although, I really didn’t need to re-imagine. We recorded ourselves for our viewing pleasure almost every week. I was in heaven. I only visited my apartment to get a change of clothes, do most of my grooming, pick up packages with new lingerie in them (since mine were getting torn every night), and pick up mail. Weeks turned to months. My friends were teasing me, saying that I turned into the girl who left her friends for her boyfriend. Even Reneé slipped in a slick comment or two about my escapades.
“Not y'all being jealous!!! I thought you all would be happy for me,” I exclaimed jokingly.
“We are, girl! Trust! I like that you're not all up our asses. But, you know, come up for air more frequently,” said Reneé.
“If you all miss me, just say that. There's no need to come for me! I’m here now,” I replied.
“We miss you, and we are glad you’re here. So, are you guys official yet? Should I invite him to the monthly game night?” Amber asked.
“Ummm, we don't. Ummm, we. We don't really talk much,” I laughed.
The girls exchanged glances at each other. So this is what this meetup was all about. They wanted to know whether I had vetted this guy and whether I was getting played.
“Before y'all start going crazy, I’m serious. We haven’t talked much about things. We’ve been eating, going to shows, hanging out, doing…things. If it makes y'all feel better, I’ll have a conversation with him tomorrow night when I see him.
“Mmmhm,” said Reneé as she looked at Sara.
The next day, I had repacked my weekly “weekend” bag. I will see Devon tonight and ask him about our relationship status. What the girls were insinuating at lunch yesterday was getting to me. I’m usually the one who has all her ducks in a row, and I’m very big on knowing where I stand with people. I had let all my inhibitions go with Devon. I had finally gathered my laptop and my folders containing the assignments that I was going to do while at Devon’s when I got a text.
“Hey, babe, I’m running a little late, and now I’m headed to the restaurant to get some dinner for us. Just use your key.”
I smiled. I had a key. There’s no way that he wasn’t going to make me his girlfriend if I wasn’t already. There are girls still waiting to find out where their “man” lives, and I have an address and a key! He also let me drive his car to close-by appointments or to go to the store. His boys always teased him about how smitten he looked now that he was with me. I overheard some of his classmates asking him why he hadn’t attended certain shows in a while. He would just smile and nod in my direction when I was around. People on campus saw us together and often. I wasn’t worried. I had no reason to be.
I arrived at his loft around 6:30 pm. I remember the time when I took my phone out to text him that I was there and I’d be waiting for him. I opened the front door and went up the stairs. As I went to insert the key into the inner door, I noticed that it was already open. My body tensed. I thought that we were being robbed or that someone was waiting to harm him. I considered dialing 9-1-1 but thought that I should crack the door just wide enough to see what was going on inside. I wanted to be able to give the police an accurate description of the assailant. When I cracked the door open, I saw a girl standing over the stove. She seemed to be cooking something. Whatever it was wafting over me the more I cracked the door open. It smelled…good. I looked around to see if I saw anyone else inside the apartment, but there wasn’t anyone else that I could see from my view. I sized her up. Deciding that I could take her if it came to blows, I decided to walk in and ask her what she was doing in the apartment. She looked up at me, startled. It was then I noticed that she wasn’t wearing any clothing under her apron.
“Who are you, and what are you doing in my man’s apartment?” I spat, trying to remain calm.
“Oh shit! You scared me! For a minute there, I thought you were the police,” she said.
“I’m about 10 seconds away from calling them. Who are you?!” I asked again, this time raising my voice.
“Relax,” she giggled “Devon, didn’t tell you?”
“Devon didn’t tell me what, bitch?” I retorted.
She shook her head and sighed. She turned down the stove and took off her apron. She walked towards me stark naked. She was a redhead with light freckles on her cheeks. Her lips were full, fuller than I have seen on a white girl since Angelina. She was very slim, but her breasts rivaled mine as they hung and bounced as she walked. Her abs were toned. Her mound was freshly waxed with a small tuft of hair cropped and cut in the shape of the letter “D.” Her legs were perfectly sculpted and toned.
“Devon isn’t your anything. We have an arrangement where when I’m off modeling overseas, he gets to stay in my loft and screw whoever until I get back. And I am very much back,” she scoffed as she leaned into my face.
I felt my face drained of all color. My stomach started forming knots. There was a sharp pain in my chest. I wondered if this is how one felt when they were dying. My ears began to ring. My breaths started getting deeper.
        “What?” I managed.
“Yeah, it seems like you’re already too attached and hard of hearing, so I’ll give you the cliff notes. Devon is my man. He’s been my man since we were freshmen in high school. Our parents are business partners in the electric industry,” she started as she walked around the apartment, fingering furniture. “I’m supposed to marry Devon after he finishes college, lets go of the stupid art thing, and goes into the family business. I model and have a skincare brand, so I’m not in the country a lot. As I’m sure you’re aware, Devon has an insatiable appetite. So do I, quite frankly, so we made a deal. While I'm away, he can choose one girl of his liking to be with. While I’m overseas, I can have a guy. Between you and me, I have two or three, but let's not tell him that. Then when I come home, he’s all mine, and I am all his,” she continued, looking at me tauntingly. “I can see why she chose you. You’re cute. Your body is incredible. I’d be jealous if he weren’t already mine. She walked back to me. She got so close that we were chest to chest. Then she leaned over and whispered, “It’s too bad you came all this way with your trash bag full of things just to get back on the school bus to whatever dorm you came from. I hope it’s not too late for you to catch dinner alone in the café.”
I don’t remember much after she said that. My memory throws glimpses of Devon calling out to me and picking me up from the floor from time to time. There were other flashes of me looking down at my hands and noticing some blood and some strands of red hair. I don’t remember how I got home that night. But for three weeks, I didn’t leave my dorm. I didn’t answer any calls. I don’t think I spoke. How could I? My air was gone.
About A Challenge
Remembering the events of that sent an uneasiness through my spine. I opened another tab on my web browser and did what I always did when I felt uneasy…: I shopped. I looked at some designs from some of my favorite fashion houses. Some I could afford, and others I added to my wishlist in hopes of one day owning them. I got lost in deep thought about color schemes and pairings.
“So this is how you write a straight-A paper?” I heard.
I turned around, and there he stood with a bright smile. Today, he donned a white cotton muscle tee tucked into well-tailored black slacks. Silver chains hung from one belt loop to the other, complementing the silver-linked chain he wore around his neck and the three silver rings he wore on his left hand. His black leather loafers still smelled brand new. I looked back up at him into his brown eyes.
“Sometimes. It helps me streamline my thinking,” I replied.
“Mmm. Right. Seems like you needed a distraction from writer's block, Miss,” he said as he pointed to the blank Google doc. He pulled up a chair next to me and sat. He placed his leather satchel down on the table and turned to me.
“So what were you going to write about?” he asked. I paused for a minute and turned my body fully to him.
“Look, I may have been a little harsh to you the other day after class. I wanted to say that I’m…” I started.
“Yea. Cool. But what were you going to write about that made you so sad that you started looking at Marni designs?” he interrupted. I looked at him, impressed that he recognized a Marni design, and filed that information in a section of my brain that would remember to ask him about this fact a little later.
“I'm not sure I’m ready to talk about it, let alone write it down for other people to read. I was trying to have something written before I got up to look for you, and I guess I failed,” I said, looking back at the Google Doc.
“I get that. What if I talked about my shit, and maybe after you hear some of my story, then you could think of something you’re comfortable with talking about” he offered.
“Okay,” I said with a slight smile, appreciating the undeserving olive branch he extended.
He started by telling me how he met his best friend, DJ, in middle school. James was fresh from Mississippi and knew no one in New York. His mom moved them both up there for new opportunities. While she was out working all day, he stayed home bored. In order to keep him out of trouble, his mom signed him up for football, and that's where he met DJ. He found they had a lot in common down to their moms. DJ’s mom moved from Kentucky to New York, too, but they had a little more money than James’ family did. They became inseparable. Joined at the hip, the two did everything together. They went to the same schools and the same summer camps. They even wore similar clothing. People started thinking that they were brothers, and they never bothered to correct them.
The summer before their senior year of high school, they cut football camp early after their 2nd practice to play video games at DJ’s house. They had been doing two-a-days getting ready for their championship game. Their coach decided to let them ditch film because they had been working so hard all summer. Before they reached the house, James spotted his mother arguing with some strange man. This was odd to James because his mom was supposed to be at work. He started to go over to her to make sure she was okay when he heard shots fired. He froze. It was like his feet were cemented to the floor. His body was strict with fear and horror as he watched the man step over her body and into a black Cadillac within seconds. He wanted to cry out, but no sound came out of his throat. DJ reached him and helped him move. When they got to her body, she was still warm, but the light she used to carry in her pretty green eyes was gone.
James continued to tell me about how it was hard to let her go or even play football after that. He said that he wouldn’t be here today if it weren't for DJ and his family helping him get his football scholarship, even though he sat out of the championship game that summer. They helped him pay for his mom’s funeral cost, and they even offered to be his legal guardian while he finished his senior year. He moved in with his aunt after graduation. He also told me that he got a work-study job because he wanted to start a foundation in his mom’s honor. She always wanted to give back to her community but always felt like she couldn't afford to show up like she wanted to. She always volunteered at homeless shelters and soup kitchens. She always read to kindergarten students and even sometimes enlisted his help at toy drives during Christmas. It always amazed him how she gave back to so many people even though no one ever gave back to her. So, after classes and football practice, he would work a campus security job on one of the northern campuses. He was tired but determined which made him sleepy during class. He said that while his story was tragic and he still felt a huge void in his life now that his mom was gone, he wanted a nice ending to the story by highlighting how strong his friendship with DJ became.
I completely misjudged him. He was so different from what I thought he’d be. I was waiting for the hood kid with ball dreams trope to come to the forefront of his story. Either that or the “wannabe thug” that some of these athletes try to be. Here he stood, missing a piece of his heart, just like I was. I wanted to know more about him. From how he handled his day-to-day stresses to how he felt being the center of attention at a big university where the majority of students didn’t look like him. I wanted to know how he got that scar on his right arm or what made him smile. After the way I treated him after class, I was lucky he was talking to him at all. Feeling a twinge of guilt, I moved to apologize profusely and share that we had a similar commonality with both of our mothers being gone when he motioned for someone to come to him.
“That’s crazy, here his doofy ass come now. DJ, this is my classmate Adaobi. Adaobi, this is my best friend, DJ,” he said. I looked up, getting ready to shake the hand of James’ savior, when my heart dropped to the floor.
“Hello, beautiful,” Devon said.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quick aside: I usually write in bulk (lol). Meaning I write the entire short story or the part I've fleshed out all together and break it into parts. This means I'm not sure when I'll get back to Devon, James, and Adaobi and their journey's. It may be next week, it may be June 2025. However, if you have some suggestions on what you would like to see in their stories, NEVER hesitate to comment below.

Hi! I really love your work, but I was wondering if I could request a Melissa Schemmenti x fem! reader? Where reader is a Dallas Cowboys fan, but Melissa hates the Cowboys. Melissa wants to go to an Eagles game, and wants to gift reader a Jalen Hurts jersey, but reader reveals they’re a Cowboys fan and reveal a Dak Prescott (Cowboys QB) jersey that they secretly already have.
(I want to see this a someone that’s a Cowboys fan, but is a simp for Melissa too 😩)
hi! i'm going to be super, duper honest with you:
as a die hard Eagles fan, i simply cannot do anything but stand there with Melissa as she throws eggs and molotov cocktails at the opposing team's bus. I entirely understand her hatred for the...
I also genuinely think that if our woman found out her woman was a Cowgirls fan, it would be a deal breaker...
like: part of the mob? fine. has a kid? whatever. fan of the cowboys? they are no longer dating.
So, that being said: I can write this request, but it will not have the idea and fluffiness i'm sure you want!

How to Watch Super Bowl LVII Live Without Cable on February 12: Which Teams Are Playing, Kickoff Time and More
How to Watch Super Bowl LVII Live Without Cable on February 12: Which Teams Are Playing, Kickoff Time and More And not just any night of football. We're talking about one of the biggest sporting events of the year, which will be here in less than two weeks. Super Bowl LVII is happening Sunday, February 12. With all of the excitement, fanfare and food to prepare, it can be easy to lose sight of the most important question surrounding Super Bowl Sunday: How to watch the big game? If you won't be in the stadium, you'll want to be front and center in front of your TV when the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles. Now that we know the matchup, it all comes down to this: Figuring out how to stream Super Bowl LVII live even if you don't have cable. Here's everything we know about Super Bowl LVII. When and where is Super Bowl LVII? Super Bowl LVII will take place in Glendale, Arizona at the State Farm Stadium on Sunday, February 12, 2023. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. MST, 6:30 p.m. EST. How can you watch Super Bowl LVII without cable? Cable subscribers can watch this year's Super Bowl on FOX. For those without cable, there are a few live streaming services that allow you to watch the big game live, including Hulu+, fuboTV, or Sling TV. You can sign up for any of these services now. Which teams are playing in the Super Bowl? After a hard-fought win in the AFC Championship game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are headed back to the Super Bowl for the first time since winning in the 2019 season. The Chiefs will battle Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles who took down the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game. The Eagles are returning to the big game for the first time since winning five years ago. With Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Eagles center Jason Kelce both headed to State Farm Stadium, the game will also mark the first time two brothers will play each other in a Super Bowl. Who is singing the national anthem? Country star Chris Stapleton will perform the national anthem for Super Bowl LVII. The eight-time Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter's take on the patriotic song is sure to be moving. Who is playing the Super Bowl halftime show? Nine-time Grammy award winner Rihanna will be performing the Super Bowl LVII halftime show. While not much has been shared about what we can expect from this highly anticipated show hosted by Apple Music, Rihanna recently told ET it will be a celebration of her music. Rihanna is helping fans gear up for her return to the stage with a collection of Savage X Game Day apparel and accessories. Serving up the best commercials of the year, the advertisements during the Super Bowl rarely disappoint. Many brands are keeping these commercial details under wraps until they air during the big game. Until then, check out some of the best commercials from the 2022 Super Bowl and keep a lookout, as there may be some teasers before this year's Super Bowl.

T’challa x Black Reader
A/N: Hey guys I’m back with another story ayyye. Lol um i’m not sure if i wrote this one too well. I’ve been working on it for dayyyyys guys. I hope it’s decent. Also sorry about the spacing between paragraphs. Tumblr was saying that i reached my limit so i had to squeeze.
Tumblr media
You pace back and forth in your college dorm nervously awaiting your best friend's presence. You needed to talk to him desperately about a topic that has been torturing you mind for a few months now. His advise was very much needed in this situation. The doorbell sounded, signaling his arrival. You ran up to the door and opened the door to your bestie of 6 years holding vanilla ice cream and some other sweet treats.
You sighed in relief, "Ugh Udaku. What would I do without you."
"Nothing. You would be practically hopeless" You laughed pushing him softly
The two of you headed to your bedroom and T'challa could already see your uneasiness. You walked with your eyes pointed towards the floor, fiddling with your fingers as you did so.
Finally reaching your room T'challa spoke on his observation. "Y/N are you alright."
You turned towards him and spoke. "Yeah I just really needed your advise on something. Um so you know Jalen right?"
T'challa rolled his eyes in disgust. He wasn't too fond of your boyfriend but never told you that because he would never intentionally hurt you like that. He just made sure that he wasn't in the same vicinity as that idiot.
"Yes. What about him?" he said in an annoyed tone
You paused for a second, trying to figure out how to say it.
"Well a few months ago he um...... actually cheated on me and-"
"He WHAT!" Tchalla exclaimed
"Yeah but" you fiddled with your thumbs some more. "He's been calling me and asking me to take him back, saying that he's really changed and all of that. I mean, should I?"
Tchalla's heart was beating 10 times faster than normal. His anger and hatred for Jalen just become more a lot stronger. He just doesn't understand why you would want him back.
"Y/N, are you hearing yourself? You know he doesn't love you."
"Ok Ok T'challa you can stop now." You murmured but he just kept going.
" Y/N, you don't deserve to be treated the way he treats you! That is not love! You need to be shown what real love-"
"T'challa! Stop." All was silent and tears began to well in your eyes. You moved across the room and turned your back towards him. "Can we not talk about this? I don't want to talk about it with you anymore."
"Ok then lets not talk." Fast footsteps was all that could be heard until you felt him slip his hands around your waist. The feeling sent a shock of electricity through your body, a foreign feeling to be exact. This was something you've never felt with Jalen and you wondered why. Once T'challa made you face him he looked at your lips enticingly and leaned into you slowly.
"Aye aye. What are yo-" . T'challa placed his hand at the back of your neck and pulled you into a passionate kiss. Your eyes fluttered shut. His soft lips massaged yours in a very slow and gracious manner. Your body was being set ablaze by his touch. Any section of his smooth skin that touched your own helped to  spark a sensation that was unexplainable. He ran his hands down your body and hugged your body close to himself, like if he didn't hold on tightly to this moment it'll disappear. The sudden movement caused you to release a small moan against his lips. Tchalla pulled away from you slowly and sighed in relief.
"Tchalla. Wha-what was that." You would have never imagined that you'd someday be kissing your best friend. T'challa stood in front of you, staring at the floor.
"Y/N.." He paused and took a deep breath. I love you a-and I'm sorry for doing that. I just couldn't help myself. I've felt this way for a long time now but I just couldn't bring myself to tell you. Everyday it became a battle within myself to confess my feelings towards you. I'm also very sorry about what I said before. I shouldn't have spoken that way to you or about Jalen."
He bent down to retrieve his book bag from the corner of your room. With a sadden spirit, he began treading towards the door. "I'll just let myself out." T'challa reached for the door knob and headed out, but not before he could get one last glimpse of your face for the last time. "Good bye Y/n.." he whispered as he shut the door.
Your heart dropped from your chest and started beating in your fingertips. You blinked several times to make sure that you were not dreaming. Emotions were running wild and thoughts were jumping off the walls. Who do you love?
"Jalen why the fuck is my cousin blowing your phone up with nudes and text messgaes! What the hell!" You stormed into the living room where your lazy ass boyfriend laid playing on his second phone. Jalen quickly looked up at the sound of your heavy footsteps.
"Y/N what the hell are you talking about."
"My cousinnnn is sending nudes to your phone! You dumbass. Would like to explain to me how she got your number and why-" The phone chimed alerting a new message. "Oh here's and heres a new text. Lets read it. 'I want to feel you inside me again.' AGAIN?! You fucked my cousin Jalen?!" You shoved the phone in his face.
Jalen stood up and suddenly snatched from your grasp.
"Yo what the fuck did I tell you about being on my phone bruh! Should've taken your finger print off a long time ago." Jalen growled. Your blood was boiling and the rage began to build.
"Are you kidding me right now. You fucking cheated on me with my cousin of all people and you're worried about my finger print? So you're CHEATING cheating?!" Jalen looked up at you a scoffed, a smirk spreading across his long face.
"That's it! Im done." you screamed. "After all the years we've spend together! You go and do this to me?" Tears began to sting at your eyes. You ran to your room and began to pack up your things. There was no way in hell that you were staying here another second with this idiot. The muffed sound of Jalen's footsteps followed after you.
His voice come out in a deep growl, "Where the hell do you think you're going." You stood up and turned to face him.
"I'm getting the fuck away from here. You went lower than low Jalen. Do you really expect for me to sit up under this roof with you and act as if everything is ok? Hell no! There is no way I'm going to stay and let you treat me like this. I'm leaving."
He let out a dark and sinister laugh. "No you're not"
You scoffed, "Oh yeah?  And who's gonna stop me." He stared you down as his eyes began to turn dark and before you knew it you were being lifted from the ground. Jalen had a strong grip around your torso and was persistent on keeping you in the room. "Let me go!" You kicked your legs rapidly and tried to pry his arms from your body. Your back hit the hard mattress in a matter of seconds. Jalen held your arms about your head tightly, leaving you unable to move your wrists.
"Mmm you're not going anywhere baby 'cuz you mine." He bent his head down and started licking at your neck, sucking the skin harshly. His hands ran up your shirt and felt cold against your warm flesh. He squeezed your breast and began sucking your sweet spot. The same gestures that were usually done during intimacy between the two of you used to be so pure, so full of love but now all you can feel is utter disgust and anger.
"Jalen move. I don't want to hurt you." You wiggled your body under his in an attempt to slide away. He pressed his body against your right leg to get you to stop moving. He picked his head back up to face your tearstained face.
"I'm never letting you go." He pressed his lips to yours in an unwanted kiss, forcefully sticking his tongue into your mouth and invading your space. With a swiftness you used your right knee to severely hurt his groin. Jalen let out a load groan and fell onto the floor, finally releasing you from his vice grip. You jumped up fast, grabbed your bag and headed for the door. Grabbing your keys from the counter you removed his dorm key from your keychain and removed your dorm key from his own key chain.
"Never fucking contact me again!" you screamed and slammed the door.
"Give it back Y/N. Im serious." Tchalla yelled as he chased you down the hallway of his dorm room. You ran into his living room giggling and sat yourself on his plush carpet. You held his mini journal high above your head, teasing him.
"You're not serious look at that big smile on your face" You laughed. He looked down at you and smiled.
"Just hand it over."
"Come get it." You continued to tease. Tchalla leaped on top of you, causing you to fall onto your back with laughter in your voice. Finally grabbing the book Tchalla hovered himself above you.
"Ha. Got i-" he didn't realize the vulnerable position the two of you were in until the games ended. Looking up at him made your heart begin to beat faster. There was tension in the air and you both could definitely feel it.
You couldn't deny your feelings for Tchalla had been developing during the years of friendship the two of you shared. He was always there for you and cared so much about you. He would never go a day without calling or texting you to see if you were alright, even if there was nothing wrong. His big heart was starting to make you fall for him.
He quickly removed his body from yours, allowing you to sit up as well. You stared at the back of his head for sometime before you spoke.
"Tchalla?'
"Y/N I-I'm sorry about that."
You found his shyness adorable as you began to smile.
"Its ok silly." You stood up and walked in front of him with your hand held out. Slowly lifting his head he looked back up at you. "Lets go eat. I'm starving." He took your hand and laughed.
Present
"What the hell am I doing." You asked yourself. "I have a man who actually loves me and I let him walk out the door." Your legs moved before you could even make them. You swung your front door open and looked down the hallway. T'challa was there, walking slowly with his head down until you called out to him.
"T'challa wait!" He turned and stopped in his tracks as he watched you run to him. When you reached him you jumped into his arms, causing him to stumble back as he, surprisingly, caught you.
"It was you. Its you...Its always been you." you said as you hugged him tightly.
"Y/N what are you talking about." Releasing him from your hug you looked deeply into his eyes. "I love you too T'challa"
His eyes lit up and his smile grew wide. Hearing those words from you brought life to his heart again. He brought his hands to the sides of your face, his warm touch bringing you comfort in the moment.
"May I." T'challa asked while still staring into you. "Yes you may" You giggled as he leaned forward to kiss you once more. The kiss got more heated causing T'challa to back you up onto the hallway walls. His hands went down to your backside, rubbing and sqeezing it softly. You broke the kiss in laughter and rested your forehead against his.
Breathlessly he said "Say it again"
"I really love you T'challa Udaku"

Reggie White And Jalen Hurts Philadelp

Geography. Pick the local team. If you are in say Miami, congratulations you can be a Dolphins fan and if you want to support teams across several levels, then the Dolphins for the NFL, Miami Hurricane among the power college programs and Florida International Panthers in the so-called Group of 5. If you are in an area not near an NFL team pick a Reggie White And Jalen Hurts Philadelphia Eagles City Skyline Signatures Shirt college and could even find enjoyment following a small regional team that plays in Division II or III or Division I FCS. Aesthetic reasons. You like the dark blue and orange combo of the Denver Broncos then that can be your team (also opens up the Boise State Broncos in college football). I’m a Denver Broncos fan and Kansas City is a Reggie White And Jalen Hurts Philadelphia Eagles City Skyline Signatures Shirt rival but I have to admit I like their home uniform. Like red and black? That gives you the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL, Texas Tech and Arkansas State and Cincinnati just off the top of my head. I don’t like the University of Texas but I happen to think their road uniform is one of the best in college football.

I thought I would just upload it on here for everyone to read. It's more romance than smut but I hope that yall like it! Your feedback is greatly appreciated because I'm really trying to get better. So Like, Comment, and Reblog as the spirit moves you. ❤️❤️🥰!
Summary: You're in class and are forced to do a group assignment. The absolute worse thing happens, you are paired with the most popular jock in the university. You can't risk failing this assignment. Will things heat up in the classroom? Stay tuned.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Good Afternoon, class! Today we are going to talk about loss!” she exclaimed as she slapped two large textbooks onto her desk.
Only Professor Martinez could be chipper about an otherwise dismal topic. This meant that a possible term paper was coming in the very near future. As her words still lingered in the air and the rest of the class began settling down, I went back to doodling on my page. I peered periodically through my curtain bangs at the board to see if she had written anything down, but the board remained blank. Some kids were texting and scrolling on social media, while others took this time to find the comfiest position for the best fifty-minute nap they were about to take today. The thing about Introduction to Medical Anthropology is it is kind of a bore. I mean, we are all required to take a “General Education” course at the College of Liberal Arts. My first choice was the class where they listened to vinyls all day and debated which was the greatest musical genre of all time, but I overslept on registration day, and it filled up. So, for the past couple of months, I’ve been here prying my eyes open through the medical corporate structure and its inner workings. I thought anthropology courses were supposed to be about the people, how they work, and all the stuff that tugged at heartstrings. You know, mushy shit. Instead, I’ve learned the quickest way to make a lot of money. It was giving “Who wants to be a Millionaire,” not Cumbaya.
I peered up once more at the board, and the word “loss” was written up in large capital letters. The room was now completely silent as if it held its finger up to its lips. I turned to get another pen and, as if right on cue, there he was. Eyes closed and head slowly falling forward, James Evans was never awake long enough for him to use any of those pens he was always borrowing from any one of the four girls he was always sitting next to. The college’s star athlete made sure he got his fifty-minute nap in, not wasting a minute. It must be nice not having people expect much of you academically. It must be nice having people offer you grades in exchange for physical labor. Or maybe not. I quickly grabbed my other pen, pushing thoughts of student-athletes aside, and started to take a couple of notes. Sometimes, I wrote notes not to remember key facts but because writing things down helped me stay awake.
“What’s the most gut-wrenching thing about suffering a loss?” Professor Martinez asked a now-settled down class.
“I was wondering when we were gonna talk about Palliative care! Ok, when my aunt chose to be placed in hospice after getting chemo for 2 years, it was really hard for us. It was like she was giving up on herself. I was so confused, “ Kelly Gardner, the resident overachiever, replied.
I rolled my eyes. I mean, no offense to her aunt, but her niece is really annoying. Once she starts on one of her personal anecdotes, she never lets up. The class turns into this historical account of the Gardner family and all the shit Kelly doesn’t like. I mean with what I know about her family tree and her dog, she should invite me over for Christmas dinner.
“Thank you for sharing, Kelly. That must have been really hard. However, my line of questioning was more of a general question about loss, not hospice care. What about loss hurts the most?” said Professor Martinez. This time, her eyes scanned the room as if looking for someone whose face would betray them into sharing their familiarity with the subject. The room was quiet for what felt like ages.
“I think it’s the part where you remember something. Something really funny and you go to call them up. Then you remember that they aren't here anymore,” volunteered a small voice.
I turned to face where the sound was coming from. A tiny girl that I never noticed before emerged from the sea of faces. She had a baby face that was smooth and had flush skin. Her hair was straight and jet black, arranged in two low, neat buns. Her clothes were dark colored but neatly pressed. She wore a broach and other pendants around the breast pockets of her sweater. On her feet were leather combat boots with silver buckles, which I noticed because they almost swallowed her tiny legs that dangled in her chair, hovering over the floor.
“Nah, I think it's when you see pictures of them up, and everyone starts talking about them like they ain't here,” said another voice.
“It’s the crying. Sometimes, you see or hear something, and you just start crying out of nowhere,” yet another voice said.
      “Holidays and birthdays”
“Seeing the date of the last thing they posted on IG. Every time you go back to it, you start seeing how much time has passed. Like their last digital footprint”
“How tight you get when you see the world going about its business like nothing ever happened. You start to do the same, and you find that you can’t move—not like everyone else,” said a deep, rich voice vibrating across the room.
I recognized that voice, but I couldn’t be sure. I turned my head to see who Loss had wrung a confession out of this time, and the voice came from James. He was looking intently at his hands, visibly frustrated. A silence spread across the room after that, each person presumably contemplating their own brush with Loss.
“Good!” Professor Martinez said, “Very Good! This week’s assignment will be to write about a time when you suffered a great loss. You will write about how you reacted, how everyone around you reacted, and whether or not any of those reactions coincided with any of the stages of grief listed in Kaufman & Morgan’s ‘The Anthropology of the Beginnings and Ends of Life’. You know, the required reading for this class.
Groans were heard throughout the classroom. My attention turned from James to the front of the class, confused.
“Yes, yes, yes, but what would life be without a graded assignment?” Professor Martinez sarcastically retorted. “What’s even better is that you don’t have to go through this alone. I will be assigning you all a partner! Please listen for your name and who you will be working with,” she finished as more groans were heard throughout the classroom.
And there it was. The dreaded group project. Something I’ve been avoiding all semester. Apart from the fact that I don’t like democracy, where my grades are involved, I’m not particularly fond of the talent in this classroom.
“Sarah and Sam,” Professor Martinez called.
God, what do I have to do? I already call my grandmother four times a year and pretend to care about her prayer meeting gossip.
     “Celeste and Patrick”
Fine, God! I’ll raise you another hour on the phone and pretend to care about the hymns for the Christmas choir selections.
     “Hunter and Malachi”
Please, God, just don’t let her place me with someone dumb or worse…. Can’t read!
     “Adaobi and Jasper!”
I stopped praying long enough to catch Jasper’s eye. We nodded at each other. Jasper wasn’t bad. I peer-reviewed a prose piece he wrote in another class, and it wasn’t that bad, actually. I can work with this. Thank you, God!
“Oh, I’m sorry. It was my mistake. I misread the names on the page for a minute. It’s been a long day. I meant to say Adaobi and James,” said Professor Martinez.
My heart slowed to a halt. I peered over at James and then back down to my sheet of paper. This is when I started to question whether or not God actually loved me. I steadied my breathing and tried not to think about the cards I had been dealt. Instead, I would focus on how to make lemonade. I needed to get him comfortable with the idea that he had no input on this assignment and it would be a good idea for him to let me handle everything. Then, I would catch him up to speed when it’s done. I took a minute to draft and rehearse a speech, keeping in mind what I was going to say and when I would start working on the project. I pulled out my planner to look at upcoming deadlines.
“Hi. I’m James. I guess we’re paired up,” he said, offering his hand and a quick smile.
I quickly understood. What is it I understood? I understood how all people drooled and hung onto his every word. His waist, directly in my seated line of sight, was slim and fitted under his gray sweatpants. He stood tall, easily over 6 feet. He had a solid build, the kind all of the guys wanted and avid sports players had. Broad shoulders that looked like they could a pair of legs up and down stairs with ease. His Nike tracksuit remained open, revealing a white beater that hung onto his sculpted pecs and chiseled abs. His skin was a rich, dark chocolate hue and burnished. I’d never been this close to him before, and a part of me didn’t think it was safe to.
      “Hi,” I said.
“So, how did you want to do this?” he asked.
“I don’t, but we have to. So this is how it’s going to go: I’ll write the paper and turn it in with both of our names on it. I’ll send it to you before I turn it in so you can read it and at least know what it’s about. Just try reading a page or two out of the required reading if she asks any questions. Outside of that, you can do whatever it is you do, “ I said matter of factly as I gathered my things to leave the classroom.
“Nah. I kinda fuck with this assignment. I wanna write on it too,” he said. I glared at him.
“Interesting, especially since I haven’t heard you offer up an original thought about any assignment in this class all semester. But how could you? You’re never awake. Look, some of us have to think about our GPAs for our future.” I retorted.
“So you’ve been watching me?” he asked, looking intently at me with the corners of his mouth threatening to curl upwards.
“No one has to watch you. You do this thing called snoring, and it interrupts the conversations happening in the class. The class we paid to have.” I spat, avoiding eye contact, hoping he couldn’t tell that I may have over-exaggerated some details to prove a point. There was a pause for a moment.
“Look, yeah, I sleep in class, but Professor Martinez could put a TV to sleep, and you know it!” he said.
“I know that everyone around you hypes you and lets you do whatever you want because you’re supposed to save University sports and finally lead the football team to their first Sugarbowl ever,” I started. “But you can’t fall asleep in every class, not read anything, and expect to write a world-class paper just because you have a ‘dead homie.’”
He glared at me. His eyes were fiery with rage enough to singe my face. His eyebrows furrowed, creating canyons of skin on his forehead. He gritted his teeth, tightening his jawline. I stared back, trying not to betray my pounding heart or sweaty palms. After an eternity, he dropped his gaze and headed for the door. I exhaled a breath I didn’t know I had been holding. Turned back to my desk to gather the rest of my things.
“I’ll be at the tech center at 6 pm for the next two weeks if you wanna work on this together. If not, I guess Professor Martinez will be getting two separate papers”, I heard. Then the door closed shut. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Click here for Part 2 Click here for Part 3

~7 AM at Your house~
Authors POV:
You trudged down the cold wooden steps of your home with messy hair and a mind still filled with sleep barely being able to maintain your balance but you managed to make it past the final step of your staircase that led to your front door. You slowly opened it to reveal a very awoke and happy Hoseok and seeing him made your eyes widen a bit , just seeing his smile awoke you a little more and gave you this unknown burst of energy "Hoseok" you chirped not caring about your current messy bed head state and it looked as if Hoseok was gonna say something but changed his mouth form to say something else as he slightly frowned "Y/n you aren't ready?" You snorted "we have an hour and I only need 7 minutes- 10 tops plus I drive now , come up with me and don't worry my parents leave for work at 6 AM so they're not here." You said as Hoseok followed you up stairs to your room. You opened your door with a gust of cool wind hitting you both instantly "I have no idea where that came from" you mumbled letting Hobi walk in first and you following before closing your door behind you, Hobi jumped and turned towards you with a panicked expression as you soon held your hands out in front of you slightly "Relax I just closed my door I'm not gonna hurt you" you said carefully "n-no I just... Never been a girls room especially with the door closed is all" you smiled gently and motioned for him to sit on your Queen sized bed. He analyzed your room he thought it'd be all pink and girly for some reason but instead it was a comfy yet slightly glamorous vibe to it.
"So I was thinking that we wouldn't change your appearance too much but just a few things that's it" you explained while clapping your hands as you finished your sentence "change a few things like?.. " he trailed off "We trade in the suspender pants for some jeans... Your shirt is fine just add a jacket.. Maybe?" You paced back and forth examining Him as his eyes followed your movements. "Ahh Nice, except I don't own such items" "I was afraid you might say that soooo I took the liberty of going to buy some things DO NOT think about paying me back. I bought belts too just in case so here" You tossed the bag to Hobi and he caught it with one hand and no struggling "you got a good arm you'd be good at football you know" and now it was His turn to snort "no thank you risking getting hurt and never recovering is a sacrafice I'm not willing to make" you laughed "touche however, you should go change that door between my closet and TV is my bathroom I'll wait here of course" you smiled "be back in a sec" and you hummed in response. About 3 minutes passed and you sat on your bean bag chair waiting for Hobi to reappear, In that time you thought how sweet he was, how his hair shined ,and his perfect rosey cheek ,with the gentlest voice and aura about him...you smiled to yourself and soon you looked up to see him directly in front of you causing you to jump a bit "oh sorry I didn't mean to startle you" he chuckled but all you could do was stair at his new outfit. His floral bomber Jacket went well with his White T-shirt and ,slightly rolled up light blue jeans that fitted him not too much but also too little and to top it off his already white shoes tide it all together even more and you were almost drooling.

"So?" Hoseok finally said as he thought you had enough time to analyze his appearance "damn Playboy" you mumbled "pardon?" "Huh- what? Oh I said you look good" you quickly stood up looking at Hobi in his eyes and they were so beautiful in the slightly dim room due to it being cloudy outside . You were now so close his nose could touch your forehead if you weren't looking up at him you didn't know he was this close to you until now.. Not that you minded "you clean up good Hobi" you mumbled as you smiled and messing with his bangs a little "thank you Y/n... Should we head out?" "Uh of course right after I get dressed , fix my hair and brush my teeth" you giggled as Hobi checked his watch "we still have 35 minutes go on" he said shoooing you away.
It took about 15 minutes this time around because your hair was such a mess but you were finally ready .

(If you don't like.. Whoops, add ya own shoes)
"Ready" you said putting on your sunglasses and heading towards your bedside table drawer to grab your keys. You didn't notice but Hobi was staring at you the same way you did him as he followed you out your bedroom "close my door behind you please" you said and he quickly did so and soon Came downstairs, you locked the front door as you both came out and headed to your car.
Once inside you both buckled up and the first 2 minutes were silence until Hobi broke it "Anything I need to know before we really do this?" You raised your eyebrows still looking at the road ahead as you drove "like things to do and say and not..." He looked at you "ohhh that? Pshh no the main thing is not to let anyone intimidate you, don't back down because most of the time the 'tough' are softer than sheep Wool ,kill them with kindness if you want and as for girls they loooove a charmer" you explained as Hobi nodded understanding "Hobi I don't want you to fake too much I want you to be yourself as much as possible" you quickly glanced at him "myself isn't popular though... This isn't me already" he mumbled while gesturing to hie clothes "do you want to change back?" You asked him "no" you nodded "do you like the clothes?" "Yes" you smiled "then this is you. A new one" he chuckled "do you like the new me then?" You quickly looked at him shocked and he added "as a friend I mean" you looked a little at ease "well.. I like you either way" you said softly looking at him as you came to a stop sign. His eyes widened "really?" You giggled "yes so, if you wanna go back to how you used to be that'd be just fine with me" he grinned "thank you Y/n" as you looked back at the road "mhmm and think I've never noticed you I always seen you around since 8th grade but believe it or not I didn't approach you because you didn't seem like you wanted to be bothered" you explained. Hoseok looked at you in disbelief " me? What about you? Your body guards made me the same way towards you" he laughed "who Jalen and the other boys?... They think they are protecting me but I can hold my own you know? Besides I like everyone I treat everyone how I wanna be treated" Hoseok just nodded in understanding. "By the way don't be afraid to ruffle his feathers.. Jalen's that is, show him 2 can play this game mmk?" You said "got it" you smiled as you pulled into your schools parking lot. "Well this is it you ready?" You asked looking at Hobi while taking your keys out of the ignition and grabbing your bag and he smiled at you "since 8th grade".
~inside school~
You guys walked in and of course you turned heads but he did even more and he was surprisingly okay, you looked at everyone with a genuine smile as usual "wink" you mumbled so Hobi could hear "gotcha" he whispered under his breath as you smiled up at him as he winked at you first making you feel shakey with happiness 'easy girl' you thought. He winked and some girls gasped as he grinned looking ahead 'this is working!' He thought to himself.
The moment came were you stopped at your locker which was on the same side as Hobi's but devided by the hallway and of course your friends were there and of course some were facing your direction as other's backs were facing you both. "Hey heyy" you said happily "wassup.. Yo who told you to bring-" Jalen was soon cut off by you "me" you said nonchalantly ,Hobi nodded at Jalen making him growl lowly "good job" you whispered as Jalen turned away. "So tell me... What's your name?" Your friend Aubrielle said as she came towards You and hoseok, you rolled your eyes 'this hoe' you thought "I'm Hoseok Jung, you can call me Hobi though" you looked at him surprised he was handling all so well no stuttering, no blushing, no shyness either! It was like he was born for this but then again, he did say he'd been ready for this since 8th grade. "Well Hobi I'm Aubrielle and your date to the party this Saturday" she winked "girl- I know you-" you started to say but Hobi soon finished "sorry but I'm going with Y/n" he smiled "you are?" She asked "mhmm" you smiled proudly "are you guys like.... " she raised her eyebrows looking between you two "yes- wait what do you mean?" You asked "a couple" she finished....
.......
"Well yeah" you said surprisingly confident and Hobi looked at you smiling "when the hell did this happen!!?" Jalen yelled hitting the locker a little hard causing everyone to back up a bit "lower the voice" you warned as he came towards you both, you grabbed Hoseok's hand and squeezed it slightly he instantly knew it was 'stand your ground time'. "You think you somebody now cause you're dating her?" he said getting in Hoseok's face "been somebody just better known now" Hoseok said happily and you could tell he was killing him with kindness.. A great method if you have the patience to play nice "and to answer your previous question it happened last week, we've been meeting up for study dates and we made it official yesterday by the school gates" you smiled widley and Hobi did as well but Jalen did not seem to care "anyways. . . You're still broken languaged trash so head back home to China yeah?" Jalen said making Hoseok frown "easy Jalen" you warned "his English is spectacular unlike yours hence why you can't pass a single language or pronunciation test go fucking study.. you need it you bastard" you seethed pushing past him and pulling Hobi along. "By the way it's Korea not China" Hoseok turned his head to say with a Wink.
Hoseok was shocked like everyone who had witnessed what just happened you really weren't one to play with.
Soon your first class bell rang and when you both walked in the teacher wasn't there and only a few other students were. Sprawled on desk, chairs ,the window base, you and Hobi went to your seats, you sat in the very back on the right near the window as he sat in the middle of the first row on the opposite side, you looked at him and decided to move beside him . Hobi looked at you surprised "I wanna sit next to more 'boyfriend' " you said winking at him making him blush for the first time since you'd seen each other today "hold on let me get my bag" you quickly scurried to the other side of the room. Just then Jalen came in with the other guys and Hoseok looked at him before rolling his eyes and looking in his bag but soon he seen hands on his desk and a shadow over him. He looked up glaring at the person who he already knew was Jalen "what're you tryna prove boy?" Jalen whispered dangerously low to Hoseok "nothing.. what're you trying to prove?" He smirked and Jalen sighed "you'll never be one of us" he motioned to himself and the boys behind him making hoseok laugh lighlty "trust me I'm not trying to be" "then why are you all of a sudden hanging around Y/n?" Hoseok leaned towards looking Jalen directly in the eyes "because I can" he smirked "you can't and you won't Continue to" Jalen growled
"says whom? " every comment Hoseok said made Jalen's blood boil "because I said so" he said lowly while slightly hitting the desk but not phasing Hoseok one bit. That's when you came back "what's going on? Jalen mo-" "nono Y/n let us talk" Hobi said as you watched them closely while sitting down "you were saying?" Hoseok chirped "you won't continue hanging around Y/n that's it" Hobi just sighed leaning back in his chair "but I will" he countered.
Jalen smirked and walked to the side of Hobi and crouching down to his his ear level "no you won't because I know your secret. I know you paid Y/n for this 'act' I'm not sure how much but it had to be a hell of a lot... So unless you want everyone to know how desperate you are for popularity... You'll go back to being the nobody you always were, and still are despite this facade" Jalen said before standing up completely "show your face at that party Saturday and it all comes out" he simply said ...Hoseok wasn't going out like this "As I said before... I've been somebody and as for your little proposition.. I'll sleep on it" He said glaring up at Jalen but Jalen simply shrugged with his hands in his pockets and walked away.
Although he was still confident Hoseok did slightly start to doubt his plan... Did he want to embarrass himself? Embarrass you?
"What happened?" He heard a whispered voice and a soft tap on his shoulder and he took a moment before he answered "maybe we should cancel all this" Hoseok mumbled looking at his fingers that sat in the desk top "what? No! absolutely not, what did Jalen say to you?" You asked "he says he knows something about our deal and says if I show my face at the party Saturday... He'll expose it all". You Shook your head "nah.. Not happenin ,I won't let it and we're still going through with this... He wants to send threats then let's show him who's the puppet masters" you said smirking. "You still wanna do this?" He asked surprised "hell yeah I do don't you?" He was a little weary "yes but-" "no buts babyboy we got this , I got you, and you don't worry about anything but showing up and looking handsome" you said while leaning over touching his chin and boy did his heart skip a beat "I can do that" he said.
"You're going down Hoseok" Jalen growled lowly from the back of the class at what he just witnessed.
"You're going down Jalen" you said to yourself so only you could hear.
Hobi knew in this act someone's cover would be blown and he hoped that it wasn't his nor yours because he didn't wanna let his and your work go to waste, especially his because he'd waited for this for 5 years and being near you was so much fun even though it was fake... That is if it was even just fake anymore because to him it was becoming slightly more and he wondered if maybe just maybe if you felt the same.
