Dad Tsu'tey and feral Son Spider

Spider running from something, probably Lo'ak.

He probably started shit by pulling his tail or stealing something (he's chaotic like that) and Lo'ak wants revenge. Since the boy is a third his height and significantly stronger, Spider already knows it's gonna be an unfair fight. So who does he run to?

Tsu'tey of course.

Just his Dad having a very serious conversation with Jake (they're arguing over who can perform better tricks on their ikrans), when the boys come RUNNING up to them. Cue Spider making grabby hands for Tsu'tey, who doesn't bother glancing down at the six year old as he simply reaches down and hoists him up onto his hip. Because Tsu'tey is hella tall, this almost instantly gets Spider out of Lo'ak's tackling height.

Spider sticks his tongue out at Lo'ak and Lo'ak - being Jake's son - feels as if he's been dealt a great injustice. But instead of spitting curses and yelling about it like he normally would, he decides to take a page out of Neteyam's book and deal with it himself.

Note: Jake and Tsu'tey are still talking arguing and stubbornly ignoring what there kids are doing at their feet.

And what does Lo'ak do, well, he can't reach Spider because Tsu'tey is a tall son of a bitch, so he promptly scales Jake like a tree. His Dad doesn't even help him. The five year old just clambers up his body like some sort of baby koala, making mad swipes at Spider when he's in range. Jake barely registers that he suddenly has a kid on him beyond grabbing Lo'ak by the arm and hoisting him up onto his hip in a mirror of how Tsu'tey is holding Spider.

Spider ducks away, clinging to Tsu'tey cumberbund as he scurries around his Dad's back and hauls himself up onto his shoulders. Tsu'tey puts a hand on his calf to keep him steady, but keeps talking arguing.

In retaliation, Lo'ak tries to climb higher but Jake isn't having it. Lo'ak is young but he's heavy. Three time Spider's weight and no way can old man Jake support that on his shoulders anymore.

I'm sorry, but the mental image of Lo'ak spitting fire and cursing at Spider whilst Jake holds him on his hip. Whilst Tsu'tey - taller than Jake - has Spider balanced on his shoulders, the kid sticking out his tongue at his friend and Tsu'tey not breaking his sentences for a moment.

This is a common sight around the village and at this point no one questions it.

Baby!Spider headcanons!

For my fic For the Nights and Days of Life. Because some of the stuff I want to include would probably expand into a 5k scene that wouldn't do anything for plot, so I thought I'd put them here.

he will eat absolutely anything. and I mean, like, baby yoda levels of eating anything. if Jake has left out on the counter, it will be in Spider's mouth faster than Jake would even notice.

it also means that he loves putting things in his mouth. his wooden toruk? the head will be slobbered on daily. a pen dropped on the floor? Jake once discovered the kid with blue ink all over his cheeks.

Spider adores music. which is handy, because every scientist who had stayed in Hell's Gate created and curated their own playlist to get them through the monotony of the day. he loves Norm's badass good girls playlist (Beyonce, Spice Girls, Christina Aguilera) but he will also not fall asleep unless Max's soothing classical genre isn't lilting its way through the speakers.

if the kid adores the song he will dance. when he couldn't sit up on his own, it would be the kicking of his legs and the nodding of his feet. when he manages to learn how to sit up, he bops along with his head and shoulders, finally going up to bouncing on his little bum and giggling at the music.

he loves exploring. in the base he would be crawling to the nearest thing that interested him, inspecting it with all the focus and care of a scientist.

Spider doesn't usually cry. he whines, and grumbles of course, but he doesn't do loud tantrums. And not because he can't, it's because he learnt during his brief time under the care of Selfridge's people that crying will only use energy and wouldn't give him anything in return. the reason why he cries when Jake finds him is because the poor baby is frightened by the new person, but also doesn't want Jake to leave him alone again. no one knows this though.

he's a visual learner, so he watches with a keen eye as children and warriors run past the healing hut, learning to walk. it's the same with language, he only need to watch the person say the words a few times and he'd repeat it back.

Neteyam is his best friend. when Kiri joins them they make a trio. they call themselves the three Muscavados because they can't pronounce musketeers, and Jake tried to tell them that story once from memory. he wasn't very good at remembering the plotline so he melded it and lord of the rings together.

lol and then Jake I’ll-just-catch-the-Toruk-by-surprise-and-hope-it-works Sully rolls up and doesn’t see the issue. He and Tommy climbed walls and trees and shit all the time back on Earth and they turned out fine. He does, coincidentally, remember how his mom reacted to seeing them very much like Neytiri is reacting now. Jake points it out and Neytiri takes her eyes away from Spider to hit her stupid husband. In the time she takes to do that, Spider climbs down a little and jumps to them. Jakes catches him and holds him out like ‘See he’s a natural’ and Neytiri almost passes out

neytiri is exhausted, she can't win, and her heart is being tortured by her son and her stupid husband.

Boxer!Bradley AU;

Bradley fights big matches and wins big prizes. He's one of famous ones. one night at a bar he meets Jake. He's a run-away kid looking for finding a job in this big town and a new start and it's supposed to be a casual one-night stand but morning after when Jake walks around Bradley's small kitchen, wearing Bradley's shirt and sitting on Brad when he's doing his push-ups, Bradley just gets too fond of him that he suggests Jake to stay with him until he finds his own place to live.

he's set for a big match for next couple of months and his competitor is also a good boxer with good reputation too so it's a real challenge if he can beat him. Talking about moneys and bets here which he can make a whole new life someplace else (with Jake💗 Brad's planning on to purpose him) something that he doesn't know, Jake's his competitor's lover.. and all this was a plan from start to get under Bradley's skin to get to convince him losing the match without polluting his own name. So Brad finds out somehow and they break up and while Jake truly has feelings for him, but he doesn't say a word or begs him.. he just leaves..

Brad wins the prize (Jake's heart was beating so fast he was so scared, on the edge of tears whenever Brad got hit. At the end Bradley's locking eyes with Jake while they raise his hand to announce winner) and at that same night Jake comes knocking on a moping Bradley's door, tears in his eyes when Brad pulls him in a kiss, says he's in love with Bradley and he put bets on Bradley instead of his ex-lover💗
