I travelled through India's Golden Triangle—Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur—with my girlfriends. It was a crazy adventure that my friends and I will never forget. As three girls with an insatiable curiosity for culture and history, this trip was everything we'd hoped for and more.

Day 1: Delhi—A City of Contrasts

The first feeling that struck us when we got into the city of Delhi was its vibrancy and energy. We headed to the iconic historic Red Fort. By walking through huge sandstone walls, we could wonder about what life had been like in the Mughal era. Later, we headed to the Jama Masjid, one of India's largest mosques, and climbed the minaret's minute steps for the panoramic view of Old Delhi.

Chandni Chowk was an assault on the senses—the smell of spices, the cacophony of vendors, and the rickshaws cutting through the streets in all directions. We could not help but try some street food: piping hot parathas and tangy golgappas (waterballs) that made us giggle as we tried to eat them without getting messy.

As the sun set, we walked down to India Gate, where families strolled and children played. It felt like the heart of the city, and we ended our day with a quiet moment of reflection.

Day 2: Agra—The City of Love

No picture could have prepared us for the sheer beauty of the Taj Mahal. Seeing it at sunrise was magical; the white marble seemed to glow with an inner light. We stood there in awe, taking in every intricate detail of this monument to love.

Later, we visited Agra Fort, another architectural wonder. The stories of emperors and queens echoed through its walls as we walked through its grand courtyards. From one of the balconies, we caught a distant view of the Taj Mahal, a poignant reminder of the love story that shaped history.

We had a traditional Mughlai dinner in the evening. We felt like kings and queens for that night, with the richness of butter chicken and naan.

Day 3: Jaipur—The Pink City

Jaipur welcomed us with its warm colours and royal charm. We started with Amber Fort, and then the elephant ride up the cobblestone path felt like travelling back in time. And then, inside the fort, we were mesmerised by the Hall of Mirrors, where the light of one candle seemed to go on forever.

We especially had a great time viewing the City Palace and Jantar Mantar, showcasing brilliant pieces of Rajput architecture and astronomy. We were captivated by the gigantic sundials and celestial instruments, truly centuries ahead of their times.

Jaipur's bustling bazaars were filled with great purchases of colourful textiles, jewellery, and handicrafts. Bargaining with the shopkeepers was part of the adventure, and our bags were full of treasures and our hearts were filled with joy.

We celebrated with a rooftop dinner overlooking the city at the end of the trip. The illuminated Hawa Mahal against the night sky made for a perfect finale to our journey.

Reflection

Travelling through the Golden Triangle as three girls was empowering and unforgettable. We laughed, learnt, and lived every moment to the fullest. The warmth of the people we met, the richness of the history we uncovered, and the beauty of the landscapes we explored will stay with us forever.
