Shades of Ray
Tumblr media
Shades of Ray    [trailer]
Ray's half Pakistani and half white. When his parents' marriage dissolves, his perspective of Ms. Right falls deeply into question.
At times feels a bit too much like a sit-com or a stage play. Probably due to budget restraints.
But that doesn't really matter, because it does a good job portraying how family pressure and upbringing influences relationships. It's also often very, very funny.
My biggest complaint would be that the film didn't well establish why Ray wants to marry Noel.
Full disclosure, the main reason I wanted to watch this for a while was because I wanted to see Sarah Shahi again.

Kevin Cage of @spotlightsaga reviews… Life In Pieces (S02E14) Facebook Fish Planner Backstage Airdate: February 16, 2017 @cbs Ratings: 6.325 Million :: 1.31 18-49 Demo Share Score: 7/10
**********SPOILERS BELOW**********
‘Life In Pieces’ S2 has very much been a mixed bag and 'Facebook Fish Planner Backstage’ is still very much keeping with that trend. The first half of the episode 'Facebook’ & 'Fish’, 'Facebook’ being the strongest, are outrageously funny and relatable… They embody why we fell in love with this family and this series in the first place… While 'Planner’ & 'Backstage’ were very much the weaker entries of the lot. They’ve continued to try and pair Tim and one of his daughters for a storyline and it just doesn’t work… Tim is a fun character and Dan Bakkedahl is a capable actor, but the way they’ve positioned his character makes alone time with his daughters awkward and clunky. Tim works best when he’s providing quips and Tim-isms in a larger group, by himself as he navigates through life, or sometimes alone with his wife, Heather (Betsy Brandt), who seems to have great working chemistry with Bakkedahl. Samantha and Sophia just don’t seem like they came from that man, in any aspect.
Pair and learn tho, right? One things for sure, Jen and Greg seem to be able to pair with anybody. Jen’s character provides a dry observational humor that is able to transcend pretty much with anyone in the cast in any situation, but she especially shines with John & Joan. 'Facebook’ is proof of that and honestly such a solid entry that I bumped up my grade for the episode a bit. Facebook has always been awkward for me in general… I remember when I was using it really heavily back in 2009-2010, I had uploaded all these scanned photos of old raves from the mid to late 90s through 2003 or so. I was tagging people, as I’ve always looked back very fondly at that time period and experience, and partly because there was a bit of me that wanted to reconnect with those people. One girl in particular I had tagged didn’t have a 'shit-fit’ necessarily in response, but she questioned my motives for not only tagging her but posting the pictures in the first place… Apparently she didn’t feel quite the same passion and love for those days as I did… They were 'dark’ times for her (and apparently she now hated who she was pictured with). They the way she laid it all out… And, of course, not sharing my enthusiasm, was incredibly humbling for me. These people weren’t my friends and they never had been, so why the hell was I trying to reconnect?
Im not saying everyone on your FB friends list is like that, but I get where Joan & John were coming from once they accidentally invited everyone to their house, it was just a much sunnier & comedic way to come to the same conclusion I did… Facebook is not for me (and sometimes moving on is better than sharing your life with people from your past who used to be fun, but now we’re just really shitty)! The events leading up to that point were absolutely hilarious too… Teaching the elderly how to do simple things on a computer is hard enough, I should know… I did community service at a retirement community when I was a teenager, and that’s when everything was less complicated; like when AOL chat was the big thing. I can’t imagine trying to explain Facebook and all the weird questions that would come with that. I died when they showed up at Jen’s office to ask her about a 'mutual friend’ who had requested them on FB… And then them explaining that they didn’t want to bother Greg because he was in 'The Dream Lab’, which was really just the his garage, something they saw on his status update minutes before they decided to burst into Jen’s office. Can we just get a highlight reel of Jen’s reaction to things? That would be more interesting that that LA Rams episode any day!

Shades of Ray (2008)
Shades of Ray (2008)
Film review: Shades of Ray (2008), written and directed by Jaffar Mahmood
tl;dr: Bit slow at times, but cute – and real full of people who aren’t Pakistani in the slightest.
Ray Rehman (Zachary Levi) isn’t just an actor, he’s also half Pakistani and half white American, and he’s confused. In fact, he’s always been confused about his identity, and maybe also a little bit ashamed of being different…

Posters of Pakistan minister appear in Lahore with PM Modi, Abhinandan
Tumblr media
NEW DELHI: Days after Pakistan senator Sardar Ayaz Sadiq‘s statement about handing over of Abhinandan Varthaman to India under “pressure”, posters featuring the PML-N leader with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and IAF pilot appeared in Lahore. The banners and posters called Sadiq a “traitor” and “Modi’s friend”. The posters in Lahore came up after the PML-N leader while speaking in the national assembly last week said that Pakistan Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa‘s “legs were shaking” as foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said during a meeting that if IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was not released, India would attack Pakistan. The pictures of these posters, that went viral on social media, came up near Sadiq’s constituency in Lahore. In some posters, the PML-N leader’s face was morphed to look like IAF pilot Abhinandan. The poster showed Sadiq in Abhinandan’s getup which read: “Mir Sadiq, Mir Jaffar… Ayaz Sadiq.”

Sadiq’s statement was criticised by ruling party ministers and also prompted the Inter-Services Public Relations chief Major General Babar Iftikhar to hold a presser in which he sought to “correct the record” regarding the events. The 37-year-old IAF pilot was captured by the Pakistani Army on February 27 after his MiG-21 Bison jet was shot down in a dogfight with Pakistani jets during aerial combat. In the early hours of February 26, 2019, the IAF jets bombed the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror camps in Balakot in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of Pakistan and avenged the Pulwama terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 40 CRPF personnel. Before his jet was hit, Abhinandan downed an F-16 fighter of Pakistan. He was released on the night of March 1 by Pakistan.

Pakistan government considering to register treason case against minister for Abhinandan remarks
A top minister in his statement has cleared that the Pakistan government is considering registering a treason case against a senior leader from the opposition party as he gave a statement in which he said that Pakistan handed over captured Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan Varthaman India under pressure. On Wednesday las week, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that "legs were shaking and forehead perspiring" during a meeting of the top Pakistani leaders including Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa. This was the meeting in which Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi requested the government and all others to release Abhinandan otherwise India would attack Pakistan. "Legs were shaking and forehead perspiring, and the foreign minister (Qureshi) told us, 'For God's sake, let him (Abhinandan Varthaman) go back now because India is attacking Pakistan at 9 PM in the night'," Mr. Sadiq said as he narrated the meeting in which leading parliamentary personalities were also part. "India was not planning to attack... They just wanted to kneel before India and send back Abhinandan,” he added.
Lately, Pakistan Interior Minister Ejaz Shah confirmed that considering the remarks made by Mr. Sadiq, the government was contemplating to register a treason case. He also added that a number of complaints against Sadiq have also been registered with the Police.
The population of the constituency of the former National assembly speaker is also showing protest as a range of posters with pictures of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman and Mr Sadiq were displayed. The posters displayed Mr. Sadiq in Abhinandan’s dress with slogans like "Mir Sadiq, Mir Jaffar... Ayaz Sadiq."

Brief Persian History or Persian Literature
General Description
Persian history is one of the most ancient histories of the world. It produced a number of the classical and modern poet, who worked day and night for its survival. Persian formally has spoken in Iran, Afghanistan (Dari) and Tajikistan. Therefore, more than 110 million Persian speaking persons in the world.
The Origin Persian Language
The Persian language is one of the sweetest language in the world. It was an Indo-European tongue with close similarity with the oldest language Sanskrit and Avestan ( the language used in holy books of Zoroastrian's). The language developed in Pars after the fall of Achaemenian's government. This language regularly used there from Pahlavi era to Sassanian era. The books and other literature of this era are very rare, however, Ferdowsi (a renowned Persian poet) explained it in a better way in his book (Shah Namaeh-e-Ferdowsi).
Influence of Arabic Language
Arab conquests have conquered Pars and surroundings. They started rehabilitation in the area for the welfare of the public. Therefore, the Arabic language declared as the official language. They started their religious and academic education in the Arabic language. However, Pahlavi language was spoken in private life. The Arab conquests ruled over Pars for a century and a half. In this way, a large number of Arabic words emerged in Pahlavi and a new language came into being which is called Persian.
After fall of Arab rulers, Arabic continued in Iran at small scale because the other main learning language Latin was used in Europe. In this way, the Arabic gradually decreased. Despite the facts that famous religious scholars and Muslim scientists Abu Ali Sina (Avicenna), Al-Beroni, Rhazes, Al Ghazali and many other were also using Arabic. Persian language developed rapidly and become the vehicle of literature. Moreover, it spread towards the neighboring countries. Persian poets worked a lot for its promotion and the ruling class of sub-continent takes keen interest in Persian poetry. Mughal emperor Akbar adopt Persian as an official language.
Interest of Poets in Promotion of Persian Language
Persian scholars took the keen interest in promoting of Persian language and make it easy for readers. Moreover, Persian poets have also played a vital role in its promotion. Abu Abdullah Jaffar ibn-e-Muhammad Roudaki (born in 858 CE in Panjakent, Tajikistan and died in 941 CE) and Abu Mansoor Muhammad ibn-e -Ahmed Daqiqi Tusi (born in Tus, Iran) are the most prominent Persian poets. Roudaki is generally known as the first Persian poet.
The Ghaznavid and early Seljuq Periods
Sultan Mahmood Ghaznavi was a brave Muslim king, who loves with scholars and eminent personalities. At about four hundred poets and eminent persons were attached with his office (DURBAR). The most notable poet of his presidency was Ansari (born in 961 at Balkh) Ferdowsi (born in 940 in a village Paj, near the city of Tus, Khurasan and died in 1020). Ferdowsi wrote Shahnamah in 25 years which contain complete Persian history. However, Farrukhi, Manouchehri and Asadi were also famous poets of Sultan Mahmood Ghaznavi. Sultan Mahmood Ghaznavi served his nation in the field of education. He established a lot of libraries in each and every corner of his kingdom. Al Biruni was the most popular prose writer of Ghaznavid era, who wrote "Chronology of Ancient Nations" in Arabic.
Saljuqi Era
Saljuq era is the second classical period of Persian literature. It was the golden age of Persian prose and poetry in Persian history. Kemiya-e-Saadat (The Alchemy of Happiness) written by Imam Ghazali is one the most popular prose of this era. Some of the renowned books are as under:-

However, less than half of these books have survived and available now. One of his famous book is Safar Nama, which contains the history of journey towards Egypt. He was an Ismaili Shia sect scholar, traveler and philosopher. His poetry and prose are famous for purity of language and dazzling of technical skill. The poems of Nasir are lengthy odes. He was a great scholar, mathematician, astronomer and poet. Khayyam has openly criticized religious matters and personalities in his poetry. He has always referred and hailed himself as a great Sufi. The main theme of his poetry is hedonism tinged with a gentle sadness, the power of destiny and ultimate ignorance / unawareness of human beings. Therefore, his poetry was largely neglected in Iran till the end of nineteenth century on this account. However, Iranian realized the importance of Khayyam's poetry when Fitzgerald translated it in the west.
Attached Classical Poets
Sanai is another great poet of classical Persian history who adopted the style of Nasir-e-Khosrow. Muaizi, Anwari and Khaqani are the other star poets of classical Persian history. They have written numerous books in Persian language. Most of their poetry contain on panegyric. The style of Anwari is comparatively difficult from all other the poets of same era. However, Khaqani is more mannered, who respected by all. He used technical language with great skill in his poetry. All these poets were popular in Iran but less appreciated in the west due to their technical language.
Nizami (Jamal Uddin Abu Muhammad Ilyas ibn Yousaf ibn Zaki) is another bright star and Sunni poet in classical Persian history. He was born in 1140 at Ganja, Caucasus and died in 1209. He was a creative poet and known as specialist of Khamsah or Quintet (series of five romantic poetry). Nizami wrote a mystical epic "Makhzan ul Asrar" or Treasure House of Secrets, romantic poetry "Khosro-o-Shireen" and Laila-o-Majnoon, story of great Alexander "Sikandar Namah" and Haft Paikar which contain the history of Bahram Gur. These books are very popular in Iran because of its romantic, colourful and original writing style.
Abu Hamid bin Abu Bakar Ibrahim alias Farid Uddin Attar (born in 1145 in Nishapur and died in 1220 Khorasan). He was a great Sufi, religious and didactic poet in classical Persian history. Historians are on the opinion that he was born probably in 1136 (not conform). Manteq-ut-Tair is one of his most popular book. Fitzgerald translated this book as "The Bird Parliament". Attar has explained the story of birds symbolically for union of human beings with God in a great fun. He gave an example of Semorgh (bird) in his book, who wish to make their king.

Warner Bros. Hosts Next Generation of Filmmakers for WB Studio Day as Los Angeles Unified Students Receive an On-Site, Behind-the-Scenes Education in the World of Production
This past weekend, nearly 200 high school students spent the day on Warner Bros.’ Burbank lot immersed in the company’s first-ever WB Studio Day. The gathering was an opportunity for those participating in the WB First Cut program and interested in production careers to engage more deeply with the studio and gain insight into various career pathways the entertainment industry has to offer. Through a partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District and nonprofit Ghetto Film School (GFS), WB First Cut provides filmmaking curriculum, skills and expanded industry opportunities to high school students. Now in its third season, the program first launched in 2018.
“One of our core beliefs here at Warner Bros. is that good stories can come from anywhere,” said Dee Dee Myers, EVP, Worldwide Corporate Communications & Public Affairs, Warner Bros., “which means some of the storytellers we might work with in the not-so-distant future could even be with us today!”
The students began their day with “Behind the Credits,” a career insights panel featuring five creative professionals who work on several of the most successful television shows produced by Warner Bros.: Nkechi Okoro Carroll (executive producer and showrunner, “All American”), Tara Hernandez (co-executive producer, “Young Sheldon”), Christina Kim (writer and executive producer, “Blindspot”), Jaffar Mahmood (producing  director, “Young Sheldon”) and Eric Wallace (executive producer and showrunner, “The Flash”).
Imparting wisdom to the student audience, Okoro Carroll said, “I’m going to bet that none of us had the same foot-in-the-door opportunity – and sometimes you can’t predict where it’s coming from – but what you can do is control how prepared you are for that opportunity because you’ll find often that people don’t even realize that the opportunity came because they weren’t ready for it.” Echoed Wallace, “Put your head down, do the work, do it with gusto, embrace and be open to things happening in a way that you may not have planned… and the most important thing: bring your own jam – that’s what Hollywood is looking for.”
The students then attended four, 40-minute production-themed sessions held throughout the day. From post-production workshops on Warner Bros.’ dub stages and color grading suites and an intensive tour of soundstages and backlot sets, to production assistant training and a presentation on making a studio movie, these aspiring filmmakers were able to gain invaluable insight and exposure within the setting of a working studio lot. Their lunch break also included a nonprofit resource fair, giving students the opportunity to engage with organizations like Film2Future, Hollywood CPR, National Association of Latino Independent Producers and NewFilmmakers Los Angeles, which provide education and training opportunities beyond the classroom experience.
“The greatest value of an opportunity like today is to see the diversity of people in these jobs, and the students are able to see themselves in the people on stage and in these workshops,” said Dr. Steven McCarthy, Director, Arts Education Branch, Los Angeles Unified School District. “The students are our future storytellers, so bringing them to Warner Bros. allows them to speak to the professionals and ask them questions like, ‘How did you get this job? What do I need to do to better prepare myself for this?’ Their eyes are opening to the possibilities, and they are realizing that everyone has a story to tell.”
The day closed with “See Yourself in the Work We Do,” a conversation with Warner Bros. Pictures’ VP of Development & Production Peter Dodd. Dodd discussed the importance of representation in the industry and content and shared his personal experience both as a former agent and current studio executive.
“Having an opinion and having a point of view is critical in every job I’ve ever had,” said Dodd, stressing the importance of advocacy to the audience. “I think you all will discover when you come to work in this industry that if you can’t sit in a room with someone and argue with them about why you believe something and have the data points to support it and convince them that you’re right, you’ll never get anything you want done made.”

Pak considers registering treason case against PML-N leader over remarks on release of Abhinandan
Tumblr media
LAHORE: The Pakistan government is mulling over registering a treason case against a senior Opposition leader for his controversial statement that the country handed over captured Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan Varthaman to India under pressure, a top minister has said. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday said that “legs were shaking and forehead perspiring” at a meeting of Pakistan’s top leaders, including Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, wherein Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi pleaded to release Wing Commander Abhinandan, saying if he was not released, India would attack Pakistan. “Legs were shaking and forehead perspiring, and the foreign minister (Qureshi) told us, ‘For God’s sake, let him (Varthaman) go back now because India is attacking Pakistan at 9 PM in the night’,” Sadiq said, recalling the meeting which was also attended by parliamentary leaders, including those from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and PML-N, and added that “India was not planning to attack…They just wanted to kneel before India and send back Abhinandan.” Responding to Sadiq’s remarks, Pakistan Interior Minister Ejaz Shah told reporters that the government was pondering over registering a treason case against Sadiq as police have received a number of complaints against him. He said those toeing the line of India should better go to Amritsar. Posters of Sadiq have also appeared in Lahore, dubbing him a “traitor”. A number of posters and banners with pictures of Wing Commander Abhinandan and Sadiq were displayed in the constituency of the former National Assembly Speaker. Portraying Sadiq in Abhinandan’s getup, the posters read: “Mir Sadiq, Mir Jaffar… Ayaz Sadiq.” The PML-N has strongly reacted to the move blaming the PTI government for ‘awarding traitor certificates’ to its political opponents. PML-N Punjab information secretary lawmaker Azma Bokhari said the one who put up “traitor” posters of Sadiq must be having a criminal record like in the past cases registered against the PML-N leadership. The 37-year-old Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot was captured by the Pakistani Army on February 27 after his MiG-21 Bison jet was shot down in a dogfight with Pakistani jets during aerial combat. In a speech in the National Assembly, Sadiq said that Prime Minister Imran Khan skipped the high-level meeting, which was attended by top leadership, including Army chief Gen Bajwa and Foreign Minister Qureshi.
