Mark would be eyes wide but confused because you handed him a bouquet of flowers. What's the occassion? Did he missed something??? For what?" oh this poor boy is so endearing but you only gave him a smile and explained to him that you just want to. OH the moment Renjun saw you holding a bouquet full of yellow flowers and you hands it over him, trust me he'll be all smiley about it!! He'll admire the way you thought about the bouquet carefully, even asking you where did you bought the flowers because it looks like it's freshly-picked. He'll give you a small kiss on the cheeks and thanks you. Trust that he'll definitely FLAUNT it on social media like...he has too!! oh and he picks a few petals and hides it on his notebook as a keepsake.

He'll be so confused but in a endearingly samoyed-way when you hands him over flowers. Thinks that it was so sweet of you that you gave him a bouquet of sunflowers as a gift. He'll be surprised by it but he loves at how you know what flowers you should give him. jeno looked at you and realized how much he fucked up. you've rightfully moved on and he was the only one being stuck in something he created. when you replied to your boyfriend, that was when he noticed the smile on your face, the same smile that used to be directed to him, and that was the only time he saw you express happiness since he appeared on your doorstep.

"fuck, you're really here.", a familiar voice said right after you heard the elevator doors open.

the feeling of awkwardness and nostalgia could be sensed in the air. you looked at each other a few more seconds as all the memories of your friendship, from when you met in kindergarten to when he stayed by jeno's side when you two broke up, flashed through your eyes.

LEE DONGHYUCK: also known as haechan around campus and non close friends. A 3rd year new transfer at NCityu. Went to a farther university out of town cause he believed he needed a change in scenery but eventually struggled living far away from his loved ones. He told his parents NCityU have a better music and pharmacy program than his old school but honestly he just missed his family and his friends. So he moved, got a job at the campus clinic and was met with the best surprise.

MARK LEE: A 4th year music student in NCityu. Also known as Haechan’s bestfriend. They were neighbours as kids, Haechan threw a ball at him and Mark chased him around until he apologized. They grew up together and ever since have been inseparable until Haechan decided to go to an out of town university. Now back together, Mark is thankful to have his best friend by his side again despite him showing the opposite reactions to haechan’s affections.

HUANG RENJUN: A 3rd year arts student. They met through Mark when Haechan wanted a present for his mom and Mark recommended Renjun’s art commissions. Haechan is difficult according to renjun but still hung out with him a couple of times when Haechan was in town and eventually warmed up to him. Was actually the one to recommend the move to Haechan even though he “despises him with all his heart”.

LEE JENO: A 3rd year chemistry student at NCityU. Haechan has always known him as the samoyed guy from highschool. They both got close waiting in the principal’s office after they exploded something during an experiment, in which Haechan convinced Jeno by saying “pour it or ur a pussy”. One of the first people to find out about Haechan's struggles at his old uni and encouraged him to go for the move.

NA JAEMIN: A 3rd year med student at NCityU, a full time father of 3 and a photographer as a sideline. Jaemin was actually Haechan’s old roommate in his first year and that’s where they first met. Jaemin transferred to NCityU halfway through his 2nd semester and he claims its because Haechan was a terrible roommate (not true according to Haechan). But he unknowingly got close to the rest of Haechan’s friends and just fully accepted his fate that he would never escape him.

ZHONG CHENLE: A 2nd year kinesiology student and a member of the NCityU basketball team. Haechan first met Chenle when he came with his dad for a business meeting in Chenle’s family business. Haechan’s dad claimed that their family is filthy rich and jokingly said that he should befriend Chenle. Well Haechan befriended him anyway after a very sweaty game of basketball. Haechan has had a soft spot for the guy ever since.

PARK JISUNG: A freshman at NCityU majoring in astronomy. Chenle’s best friend. Haechan first met him through Chenle when he invited him to play basketball together in which the poor guy managed to get himself hit by the ball on the head. Haechan’s motherly instincts always spikes when Jisung is around and vows to protect him at all costs.

y/n wonders how na jaemin has tolerated her all these years, ever since they were in diapers to be exact. perhaps their friendship was how he built up the patience to pursue psychology. jaemin is an extremely affectionate and loving friend, with the downside of his overprotectiveness and skepticism, but it all stems from his desire to care for the people around him.

the, arguably, odd one out would be lee jeno, an architecture major and a long-time barista at the campus cafe. in spite of his immense popularity as the "hot barista", jeno may come off as aloof and cold at times, especially when he has a point to make (trust jeno to tell you what you need to hear). still, jeno has his moments of adorableness, earning the nickname samoyed.

aside from the fact that y/n and jaemin have known each other for years, y/n and minjeong first met at a science competition a few years back and coincidentally, ended up in the same class in university. being the only familiar faces to each other, they stuck to each other and eventually became the best of friends. jaemin, on the other hand, started working at the campus cafe in his first year during the holidays to kill time and earn some money, which is how he met his “soulmate” lee jeno, and thought that he had to introduce him to y/n. and with the 4 of them immediately clicking, the rest is history.

pov: you're doing grocery shopping with nct dream

mark Constantly brings up the other Dreamies when finding foods that remind him of them. It's sweet to see how much he cares for them, but when he's stopping every 30 seconds to give a backstory for an item that catches his eye, it's not hard for your pout to come out. Will shut himself up and exert some self-control when he notices your furrowed eyebrows. Nevertheless, you two still end up buying some snacks for the other Dreamies. Likes to share one side of his wireless earphones with you. However, you begin to walk ahead once he's turned up the volume and started grooving to the beat a little too passionately. Your calls for him to stop fall upon deaf ears, and it takes a light pinch to the nape of his neck to remind him that he's at the supermarket with grannies watching him busting moves. Some shopping trips are confidence builders for Mark as you encourage him to avoid premade meals and buy fresh produce to cook with. Giggles and hugs you tightly when you concede to buying more eggs than normal so that he can practice his sunny side up's. Takes pics of you two in front of the safety mirrors and develops an album on his phone from the number of similar photos.

renjun Sings to himself while shopping, and also harmonises along to whatever you're singing without knowing that he's doing so. Spends a considerable amount of time debating different options for each item. Maybe a little too much time, because by the time you've reached the seventh item on your shopping list, you're yawning and thinking about your cosy bed. Is not afraid to ask workers where certain things are. Is also drawn to demonstrations of new kitchen appliances more than food samples. Often ends up overbuying, either because he overestimated the amount needed or because there were many dishes that he wanted to try making but they all called for different ingredients in small amounts. Gets deeply offended when you ask some stranger for help in grabbing something from the top shelf. Literally scoffs to himself, rolls his eyes, places his hands on his hips and glares at you and the stranger from afar. Gives you the silent treatment for two minutes before breaking because he forgot what was the next item on the shopping list which was in your possession. Also breaks when you slide your hand into his and do not let go even when he tries to walk in the other direction.

jeno Judges everything in consideration in reference to Jaemin. Choosing what cut of meat to get? Jeno thinks Jaemin said that this cut was best for its price point. Not sure what brand of matcha powder to buy? Jaemin mentioned one time that this certain brand has a really nice kick, so you should probably get that. Scratches the back of his neck when you put the chosen matcha powder back with an adamant shake of your head, reminding the samoyed that this Jaemin is also the same Jaemin who drinks coffee with six shots of espresso. Most of your shopping trips are done after 11am because Jeno just... loves sleep. If it's before midday, he's shuffling down the aisles in slides and slight bedhead that he tries to cover up with a hood. He's also still bleary-eyed and stifles a yawn while tugging on your sleeve to help him navigate through the store without bumping into anything. Becomes more awake once he munches on some samples. Pushes the cart leisurely with one arm and holds your hand with the other, gently stroking your knuckles. Sneaks candids of you picking things off the shelves and comparing items. Seeing you bite your lip in deep thought makes him want to kiss you so bad, but he'll wait until you're alone. He'll also save the pics for later when he misses you and needs a reminder of home.

haechan Takes turns pushing the cart, but sometimes he'll have a mind of his own and force you to push it against your will while he runs off. There's a 50-50 chance of him making a small toddler cry by smiling at them. Will always opt for the spiciest option there is, and argues that it's the right choice. Tries to convince you by reasoning that you should just learn to eat spicier or dilute your portion with water. When threatening to break up with him because of his stubbornness, he reluctantly swaps for one spice level below and then two upon catching your glare. Picks a random item off the shelf every 5 minutes and makes a cheesy pun about it to flirt with you. More often than not, you just shake your head and continue walking down the aisle with a smile. Suddenly stops you and grabs your face with his hands, staring at you intensely for a brief moment before leaning in with puckered lips. The whine he lets out after you push him away attracts the attention of everyone in the aisle. The only way to get out of the spotlight is to give him a quick peck which turns his whines into a squeal of satisfaction. Proceeds to cuddle his head into your neck while browsing the next two aisles, only retracting when you complain that you can't feel your shoulder anymore.

jaemin Every shopping trip is also a date. This man will convince you to wear a couple's article of clothing to receive coos from elderly women. Will also feed you all the samples there are to offer before trying them himself. Falls head over heels for you for the 138th time when your eyes light up and eyebrows raise in delight at how tasty a sample is. Proceeds to buy half the store's stock of that item. Then, he falls for the 139th time when you push the shopping cart with him, fawning over how cute your hands look next to his. He slips one hand between the space of your two so that your arms are intertwined, before adorning the biggest grin on his face when you link his arm with yours and rest your head on his shoulder. Will buy the ingredients for whatever dish you wanna eat later that day because he's self-assured that he can make the dish. Whenever he lets you pick out groceries, he'll never oppose your selections that go against his personal preference. Instead, he'll try to appreciate your selections or help you fix the dish's taste if your choice turns out to be unfortunate. Peppers your face with kisses once you two return to the car because he found all of your shopping mannerisms adorable, and holds your hand while driving back home.

chenle Probably the only member who'd do groceries in the actual morning. Because Chenle knows what he's looking for, grocery trips average around 30 minutes. That's including time for you to browse and select snacks that weren't originally included on the shopping list. Will go on a rampage and nonstop brag about you when an old lady comments on how sweet your relationship is. Has such a soft spot for the elderly and for children to the point of paying for their groceries if there's a cute family or a lonely grandpa waiting in line behind you two. Also likes to act as your sugar daddy, nonchalantly allowing you to toss two tubs of the most expensive brand of ice cream that the store has to offer into the shopping cart. Shares his music with you, but doesn't seem to be bothered with you listening when he accepts a call and starts talking with a cousin. Continues shopping after the call ends as if nothing happened, asking for input about certain grocery items. Bursts into laughter when he sees you standing stock still with awkwardness written all across your face, your cheeks as red as the bunch of tomatoes in his hand. Can't stop cooing you because of how cute your face was, and soothes you by buying your favourite drink from the cafe next door to the grocery store.

jisung Snacks, snacks and more snacks. 90% of the time Jisung asks you to go to the grocery store with him, it's because he's looking for snacks. Careful but confident when choosing snacks. However, ask him one question about buying actual groceries, and he'll spiral into a deep internal conflicting monologue about the 10 different brands of the one item you're looking for. Nevertheless, you let him and his snack connoisseur antics be because most of the time, his selections turn out to be pretty good. Pops along to whatever song the grocery store is playing, even if it's some old trot tune. Falls behind when stumbling upon a childhood ice cream, proceeding to become lost. Has to roam all the aisles twice before finding you. You're extremely confused when he approaches you with tears in his eyes and hugs your shoulders tightly. Shyly waves to all the toddlers who stare up at him in awe in passing, reaching out with a blush when he misinterprets the child's extended hand for a high-five. Uses his massive hands to bring the groceries to and from the car, and feels proud of himself when he only needs one trip to haul them out.

🐬 zhong chenle . . . a quadrillionaire, ignore the fact that the word isn't real. he does not care about you, he has a dog, and also more money than you can even count. is having so much pulling the strings because he's physically pained by jisung not knowing how to talk to the cute guy he has wrapped around his finger, he seriously might just get yn's number himself at this point. really, he wants the best for jisung, meaning he wants to get him a boyfriend.

🦊 huang renjun . . . 99.5% asleep on most days, he lives tucked under the covers. he collects snoopy figurines in his free time, he's got a flag in his room and everything. one day he'll genuinely care enough to call chenle out for cheating in uno, but for now? he's dozing off. honk shoo mimimi.

I’ve recently been thinking about hybrid dreamies. But mainly specifically Samoyed Jeno going into heat a during tour, and cheeta mark finding him backstage trying to rut against the jackets of everyone as they smell like the others tears staining cheeks. of course being filled by a cute samoyed in rut triggers mark's rut... and of course the second his pheromones change, bear!haechan catches a whiff of it and his eyes cross as his heat starts. samoyed!jeno also finds his way to bunny!jaemin who complains that he's feeling riled up since his heat is gonna start soon-- "IT'S YOUR FAULT! Concept-wise, I do agree he'd go with something soft and aesthetically-pleasing for Renjun.

a cold war. it’s how chenle described it within the group, well, except when he’d be talking to either jaemin or yanna. but in jeno’s point of view, it was simply his bestfriends being too shy to approach each other after a long time of being… distant. nctzens notice it, of course they do. everybody does. but it wasn’t a fight, since they do talk. it was just.. again, distant. unusual to the jaemin and yanna they’ve been through the years.

but, the members couldn’t blame them. jaemin and yanna were bestfriends since 15 and 14 respectively, had feelings for each other, one moving on and the other having to act like he did when he didn’t, had to confront unsaid feelings and basically had to move forward adruptly from the whole fiasco for the sake of the group. to add, jaemin had to watch his first love be in a relationship with one of his bestfriends. and yanna had to act like it’s all normal when she beats herself up everyday about the chaos she caused within the group.

both feelings eating them alive for more than a year, making them unable to function as bestfriends anymore. at a point, jeno even brought up that they seemed so much like co-workers. which bothered yanna, so she tried. and jaemin did too, causing a more awkward air for them during “universe” promotions. because despite trying to bring “them” back, it wasn’t the same thing as actually talking about why things turned out the way they did.

that’s why, glancing at the members walking out the practice room and wondering why yanna didn’t seem like she was going home, jaemin put his foot back in his shoe. jeno noticed it, but kept quiet as he stood up and approached the girl.

“which move?” the pink-haired boy asked her, the girl immediately responding with their point choreography slowly— afraid that she was butchering it.

“i feel like i look dumb doing it”, she admitted, looking at the mirror and accidentally locking eyes with jaemin. jeno hummed for a while, thinking of a way to make the girl feel more at ease with the move. the scene was all too familiar to the two 00-liners, it took them back to yanna’s start of training with them. after she was told she’d be debuting in nct dream.

back then, yanna was too precious to be forced to move her body the same way they’re asked to. she was a good dancer, but it’s not news that the female trainees are asked to dance a softer way than the male ones. back then, at least. so to jeno and jaemin, they made it their duty to help the girl not have a harder time than usual. she wasn’t oblivious to that, but she was on the way jaemin’s worriedly looking at her as she stomped her foot in frustration— annoyed at how her body looks on their current choreography.

“you’re fine, you probably just feel weird”, the samoyed-eyed boy mumbled. he came up behind her and helped her focus on which body parts she should move to make her feel less awkward, pointing towards her shoulder and her waist. while the other was busying himself with his shoe, despite already leaving it on for the second time.

yanna’s gaze never left the floor, although focused on jeno’s words as her breath was getting heavier. the boy tried to ignore her sniffling, knowing for a fact that the girl would eventually talk if she wanted to. but as her shoulders shook in between small sobs, his hand involuntarily went to her back to comfort her. it wasn’t surprising, renjun did mention that the group’s resident cheerleader was having a hard day. but like they all know from six years of being her friends, ‘don’t ask unless she wants to tell’.

yet if there’s something jaemin knew differently than them, it’s that yanna doesn’t like being asked because she feared piling on other people’s problems. she’d rather keep it all to herself if that meant she’d be saving everyone from making adjustments for her. he wasn’t sure who else knew that about her, but it was always one of the reasons why the girl always seemed precious to him. no matter how distant they are and how fast time flies.

it took him a second to realize that jeno was leaving, mumbling about how the boy will get her some water while signaling the other to watch over yanna. and as the door closed, silence filled the air. unlike how other people think, it wasn’t awkward. but it did pain him to hear her sobbing quietly and not move even an inch.

so he did. finally taking his shoes off and placing them on the side, he calmly walked over to sit beside her on the floor. both leaning on the mirror and absentmindedly letting their arms touch for the first time in a while, the girl treating it like a warm hug as her tears rolled down even more.

“why are you crying?”, jaemin tried to ask playfully. the tone made her scoff, noting in her head that the boy was talking to him the same way he would always talk to jisung. but in a way, she felt comforted.

“what if i fuck this up and it ends up not doing as great as last year?” she mumbled her worries, still sniffing a bit. the doe-eyed boy looked at her, frowning.

“when have you ever fucked a dance up, yanna?” he asked, almost deadpanning. his mouth was rising up a bit, unexplainable in a way since he was only staring at the girl who looked like she was on the verge of laughing yet his reddened eyes were on full view. she looked funny yet pityful if you didn’t know her well enough, but jaemin did.

“you practice hard. you probably just feel weird because the dance is weird! who would dance like that on a dance off in the streets? or for free style? people would laugh before they even start clapping” he started ranting, piling on even more as yanna started snorting. he missed this. but for some reason, it felt different. not in a bad way.

“what?” yanna asked, noticing how jaemin paused for a second and smiled at her.

“i missed you”, he admitted. the girl could only sigh and rest her head on the other’s shoulder. and like jaemin realized before, it felt different. it was a different kind of happy, and probably the one chenle and jisung have talked to him about in random conversations wherein the two would be gushing about something incredibly random yet definitely similar.

“i’m sorry…” she mumbled, finally acknowledging the elephant inside the room. after more than a year.

“i wanted to let you deal with your feelings on your own, but then… i wasn’t sure how to ask if it was gone and it felt selfish to ask for you to be back as my bestfriend. i wanted us to come back naturally, but then.. i guess we both chickened out a bunch of times”, she continued. her tears rolling down her cheeks and into the boy’s shirt— he didn’t mind, a sad smile on his lips as the girl talked.

“you’re more than just a first crush or love, you’re my bestfriend. and i didn’t know if it was fair to want you back as one…”

on jaemin’s shoulder, pouring her heart out, was yanna huang. his first love. the girl who walked into his life and made a mark on it, teaching him the difference between platonic and romantic love. the one who gave him his first heartbreak as well. but despite that, his heart was happy having her back. happy that she was finally comfortable enough to lean on him again.

this was what jisung and chenle always talked about. that happy feeling when yanna asks jisung to do something and gets happy when he accomplishes it. that satisfied feeling chenle gets when yanna asks for a push or a bit of advice from him and follows it. the warmth the both of them feel when yanna’s in a mood and only likes talking to them instead of the other five.

it was entirely different to how renjun shared how happy he felt everytime him and yanna would go on dates. that he no longer finds offensive to know about.

yanna was precious then, as a trainee who knew no one but jaemin’s friend jeno. and yanna was still precious now, as his co-member for almost six years, his friend’s girlfriend, his bestfriend’s bestfriend and of course, his bestfriend. yanna’s always precious, no matter what role she’ll end up having in jaemin’s life.

“we’re bestfriends, yanna. we can always go back to being that.”
