How do you feel about the potential of a divorce memoir from Meghan? I worry she’ll fill the pages with lies about William and Kate to damages their reputation and the public will eat it up

I'm actually looking forward to it. I think it'll be fun, albeit irritating, to hear her spin on how all this happened. The same way reading Spare was for me.

There isn't anything to worry about insofar as Meghan's tell-all damaging William and Kate's reputations. Look at how often she tried - Finding Freedom, Oprah, Endgame, Spare, all the little comments and leaks - and how each time it fails. Look at all the times Meghan has been caught in a lie (we gotta be in the 100s by now), compared to all the times Kate was (zero). The odds are in Kate's favor that whatever Meghan says, it won't even nip her in the heels.

It's more likely that Meghan's tell-all would go after Harry and be actually damaging to him, considering what she knows of him.

I wonder why they aren’t even mentioning Tik Tok.

She’s bombing on TikTok. Jack Royston did an article not too long ago about it, that there’s tons of negative criticism about Meghan and Brand Sussex on the app.

Jack’s article is totally a plant. You can tell someone paid him for it to try and influence people on TikTok to search for Meghan or the Sussexes there so she can claim that people are interested because she was “most searched for” again — same thing that’s happening to Netflix with Suits.

TikTok is dangerous because people will edit your content and use it to make fun of you.

Two Truths and a Lie

My first writeblr game! Thank you to @new-royston-cursebreakers for the tag! His poll is here.

I'll put a little bit about my wip first, since I haven't actually talked about it here.

Protag: Ignacio, adventurer dragon fighter blaggard and reluctant necromancer.

Background and motivation: He's been cursed with burning blood, scales, and other dragon-related suffering by a witch king. The curse can only be broken when Ignacio slays the dragon that had been tormenting the realm. This would be difficult enough, but to top it all off, the dragon died on it's own before Ignacio could get to it. Now Ignacio is searching for some way to bring the dragon back from the dead so he can kill it again and finally get back to his old life.

Setting: The world functions on fairy tale logic, where strange and disturbing things are considered normal and almost everyone who could be helpful is unnecessary cryptic. There're plenty of classic fairy tale characters, including talking animals, pixies, trolls, knights, princesses, witches in disguise, and many more.

Antag: Jack, a simple farm boy who's strangely proficient with a sword. He's the classic hero, chosen by fate to stop Ignacio from resurrecting the dragon that laid waste to their kingdom.

Sun

Jae announces my song and leaves. The music starts up as Jack hits a button, and I have to remind myself to stay calm. All my nerves are on fire, and the bright lights make it feel like I'm staring directly into the sun, but I pause and listen to the music. Tune everything else out. Just  the music. It washes over me, and I let it take me.

Judge

Thomas is last, and although I hoped they'd save the best for last, his version of KIller Queen is so boringly average that I have to ask Riley how  they've managed to keep the title for so long. "My guess is that they're blackmailing the judges. I mean, how can this beat something like that Let It Go thing at the start? It can't be skill, I know that much." He says with a shrug.

Active

Riley shrugs.  "Sure, why not? The label says D.R.A.E.C., which doesn't sound like any of the still-active taskforces, so there probably wouldn't even be anyone left to complain if we watched it." I glance over at Kai, whose face has gone pale. I start to move towards  him, opening my mouth to ask if he's okay, but he shakes his head at me with a slighlty pained expression.

"Shut up! Did you think that I naturally had blue hair? I dyed it after I got out of the Jesus freak cult, but clearly I had time to do a few Karaoke Kontests before I decided to dye it." Interesting developments, Celta. Newsweek's Jack Royston (a H&M sugary reporter) wrote a new article: "Royals Delete Prince Harry Statement That Made King 'Furious.'" Apparently, the official Royal website has finally taken down the November 2016 statement Harry had former KP communications secretary Jason Knauf put out less than 2 weeks after H&M's relationship became public knowledge, telling the UK press to back off. IMO, it's long overdue but I'm glad that BS nonsense was finally taken down.

What types of music are/would your characters be into? Any particular songs that you could imagine your characters listening to? - @new-royston-cursebreakers :)

Ohohoho~ I more or less give all of my characters designated genres / artists, so this is very fun!

For my story Crater City:

Blair - generally 80s rock; I can see him listening to Billy Idol, Kiss, and the occasional silly song thrown in like "California Girls" or "Moves like Jagger"

Elijah - punk rock. I'm assuming bands like Mindless Self Indulgence, glass beach, Cage the Elephant, and MCR (for that traditional punk feel)

Frasier - chill rock / psychedelic rock (if that's what it's called). Artists like tv girl, arctic monkeys; songs like "the night" by moody blues, "lover us a day" by cuco, and "strawberry fields forever" by the beatles.

Now, from some characters from Indie's Bar (I promise I haven't forgotten about this story)

Jemmah - songs to make you feel like "a bad bitch space god(dess)," as she puts it: the bands ABBA, Dua Lipa, Jinkx Monsoon, and ELO.

Silas - their playlist is all over the place! It's either funny country songs or a mix of Harry styles and Brittney spears (they are a cowboy demon who is interested in the pop culture of yesteryear)

Bianca - loves pop and indie! Mostly upbeat songs/artists with an occasional sad edge to it. Artists like Jack stauber, beach bunny, Chloe moriondo, and Clairo. She loves the song "fruity" by Chloe moriondo the most, I think!

From my mouse story (the mice come out at night):

Morgana - listens to grunge or Weezer, which should tell you a lot about him as a person (im joking). Bands like the Ramones, McCafferty (which his voice is inspired after), The Rolling Stones, and the Destory Boys.

Vincent - would be very fond of those slow, sad songs. Think of "two of us" by the Beatles, "Euthanasia" by will wood (which his character is based on), and "worm food" by cavetown. And the band Machinery of the Human Heart. All telling songs about him as a person!

Tooth - what do you think of when I say "songs to break glass to"? That's pretty on the mark. Bands like queen, sodikken, the oozes, and destroy boys (see the overlap with his brother, Morgana?).

I try to make each character's playlist as distinct as possible because they all have individual stories to tell!

The mail online, whilst the online version of the daily Mail, is the biggest online newspaper in the world - in terms of daily views. It’s number one and has been since 2014/2015.

Quick google search says over 50% of its daily views come from outside the UK - noting the large audiences (and different home pages) they have in India, Australia and The USA.

So I wouldn’t say they’re targeting the British tabloids through the Mail - who themselves have become a little too reliant on social media to find stories, especially about the royals. For example, everything Kate has done in the last week, especially anything that has wound up as a gif/TikTok video has also been an article on the Mail online.

I would however say that they have a habit of “targeting” British papers depending on what they’re trying to accomplish.

For example The Sun newspaper, who up until 2018, were the most purchased daily newspaper and still sell around 1 million copies daily in the UK. Since leaving, H&M have either leaked or granted exclusive access to the sun on the following stories;

Megixt - they blame the family for the leak. Dan Wotton who broke the story claims it came from the Sussexes.

Invictus - pretty sure they allowed the sun to have photo access at the last games in the Netherlands.

The Sun’s royal reporter Matt Wilkinson was getting all the Sussex info for a while; then they switched to Jack Royston at Newsweek (which tbh here in the Uk, I’m not sure how many Brits actually read Newsweek?). Jack flipped around the Netflix docuseries/book.

Since QE2’s death/funeral they’ve been buddying up with the telegraph - but more reputable here in the UK - started with the whole “Harry not allowed to wear uniform/sad that his epaulets were left off during the grandchildren vigil” and continues to this day.

So there is targeting the British press, but like everything with these two, which journalist/reporter/paper will change with whatever they’re trying to project/accomplish.

Good points. However, I don’t think they are really “targeting” the UK papers. I think the UK papers are the only ones that are willing to print their leaks for free right now. If they want US coverage, they have to pay for it and they don’t have the money right now.

That’s why their pap pics are now on TMZ. What with their lawsuits and loss of status even the Mail isn’t paying for her pics.
