rtd really just drifted on by the effects of 'the year that never was.'
they rewound time right up until the death of president winters.
saxon's entire cabinet is still dead. the president is dead. the new prime minister apparently made contact with aliens who also killed the president. martha jones, the doctor and captain jack are still on the tv as wanted terrorists and martha's flat was blown up. a whole shootout happened on the jones' family home street. leo jones was told to go into hiding. everyone in downing street casually saw tish get herded off by the police. and as far as everyone is concerned, the prime minister's wife shot him on the same day he was elected.
rusty really said that's one yike too many
SKIP!
like dude we find out in 'the end of time' that the master had a whole cult on earth who were waiting for this in case he died. what's going ON how are we skipping over all of this?!
not to MENTION that the toclafane just got sent back to their horrible dimension and just die?!!?!?!?!!?

It's time I let the cat out of the bag after alluding to it for too long. Since the release of Overwatch: Declassified, I've been working on an entire rewrite of Overwatch's canon. While setting it up on a Miraheze wiki, I've also been writing a story for Lena on Archive of Our Own that fleshes everything out to a highly unnecessary extent, and it has over 22,000 words so far. The story is more self-indulgent than anything, so I don't expect anyone to read it, but it's been easier to write to my heart's content and condense everything for the wiki afterward.
(If you only read the wiki, then you'd be missing out on a lot of Lemon Tea and Dad: 76 fluff and angst, as it is my rewrite, after all, but that'd be your loss.)
I have no idea when I'll make these two projects of mine public, if ever, but as of right now, I've written all the way up to the start of London Calling #2, so it might not be so far off. (This is why I was talking about Lizzy the other day!)
What I'll make public now, however, is a screenshot from the last update I made on Lena's page.
Realistically, I can't release anything until I finish writing the timeline of at least the major overarching story between Overwatch, Talon, and Null Sector. For reference, though, Mondatta died on March 15th, 2076, Zero Hour takes place in late February of 2077, and Overwatch 2's Story Missions take place in mid-April of the same year, making Lena twenty-seven in the present day. (I just really hated Overwatch 2's two-year time skip.)
The "Early Life" section I've written isn't the cleanest it could be, but I have no writing experience, and Lena being a teenager is pretty vital to their character, I'd say, so cut me some slack. The idea was that Lena would enlist in the RAF as soon as possible with forged documents and get accepted on the spot because the RAF has been struggling with a lack of interest from the public, and they would only fly the Slipstream mere months later because the RAF bribed someone from the UN to make it happen. Here, take a screenshot of something I wrote on Jack's page as a note for my plans for him, as well, to make things easier.
I liked this idea because-- you know what? Have another screenshot, this time from Archive of Our Own! Wow, I am just full of surprises today.
All right, all right. Why am I sharing all of this? Well, dear reader, I implore you to take note of when I revised Lena's wiki page. Now, imagine my reaction when I read this description from Hazard's story yesterday:
(My reaction:)
Now, imagine my shock when I saw this page:
(My shock:)
I get it isn't exactly an unheard-of trope, but SERIOUSLY?
Now, I have my Overwatch heroes I don't like all too much, but I've never had a hero I've outright hated. This guy, however? He took everything from me. He straight-up does not exist in my canon. I do not perceive him.
The Phreaks can still exist, even the members introduced in his comic because they're cool, but I guess the Oasis subplot will just never happen without Hazard. (For that, I hope it doesn't have massive ramifications on Blizzard's canon and overarching lore, or else it'll get real messy for me.)
On the bright side, I suddenly don't feel bad for completely deleting characters in my perception of Overwatch's canon. It is NOT looking good for Kiriko right now...
(EDIT: I thought my excuse for Lena making it into the RAF on the spot with forged documents was bad, but according to a thread I saw on Bluesky, Hazard joining the military to pay for his education doesn't make sense, either-- not in a pre-Omnic Crisis world, anyway. Granted, the early life I've written for Lena also accounts for the fact that these military branches went through what was practically World War III, but you guys are the official writers! You can't just leave us with that glaring issue with no explanation! That being said, after some cooling down, I'll probably keep Hazard in my canon, after all, and let him grow up with two Omnic Crisis veterans who met on the field for parents, neither of whom will die. That way, they could push him to join the military after secondary school amid their low enlistment, and he would then continue the cycle of upholding their "system" before eventually losing his limbs to an IED while raiding the hideout of some infamous criminal with ties to Talon, I guess. Once the military leaves him out to dry, he would feel like he has no choice but to deal with The Phreaks, only to realize that he's no better than them; they'd all been wronged by the system. Additionally, meeting Susannah and Revel could be a character-defining moment where he learns to respect omnickind, which he'd been taught to hate his entire life. I think Susannah deserves better than Hazard, but fine, I'll begrudgingly allow their canon relationship to persist, as well. As for Kiriko, I'll say it: her age aside, her fox powers are also ridiculous. While the powers of The Iris deserve to go unexplained, I'm pretty sure the old writers also said Zenyatta's kit is not canon. Kiriko, meanwhile, uses everything in her cinematic. Her fox shrine lets her eat as many donuts as she wants. Ugh, I hate most of Overwatch 2's heroes' writing. Maybe it's for the best that Venture doesn't have any. Don't ruin them for me, Blizzard.)

On 17th May 1741 George Watson's Hospital School was opened in Edinburgh with 11 pupils.
The college was established when philanthropist George Watson, who was the Bank of Scotland’s first Chief Accountant, left his entire £12,000 fortune to found a school.
After his death in 1723 the Merchant Company of Edinburgh implemented the terms of his will, purchasing a piece of land near the Meadows and instructing a architect to design and build the school.
The foundation stone was laid on May 22, 1783, and the building completed in early 1741, with the first pupils welcomed to ‘George Watson’s Hospital’ in May of that year.
The first roll consisted of just 11 boys but that quickly increased to 86, with the school governers responsible for pupils until the age of 25, finding them apprenticeships or helping them pursue medicine and academia
The hospital school system was seen as a failure by the 1860s, leading the Merchant Company to re-establish George Watsons as an 800-capacity day school in 1870, selling the building to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and moving to the former Merchant Maiden Hospital building in Archibald Place.
A further expansion of the Royal Infirmary in 1924 led once again to the school building being sold and another move - this time to the site of Merchiston Castle School.
Watsonian James B Dunn won a competition to design the new school, which was completed in 1932 and opened by Prince George.
By this time there was also a separate George Watson’s Ladies College but the two merged into a single school 1974 which entered the record books as the as the largest co-educational school in Scotland, with a roll of over 2,400 pupils.
Former pupils include comedian Jack Docherty, politicial Sir Malcolm Rifkind, rugby stars Scott and Gavin Hastings, and BBC broadcast Martha Kearney.

“Funny Woman” s2e1 (2024)
Gemma Arterton: The main appeal of this show is definitely the star. Arterton is wonderful.
Sophie Straw: The adorable main character is another reason to watch. We want this heroine to overcome all obstacles and succeed.
World of TV: For me, the coolest thing in seeing behind the scenes at these television shows. Josie Lawrence and Jack Docherty, in particular, were hilarious.
The Sixties: The show's eagerness to embrace/emulate/recreate the 1960s is a huge part of it's charm. The music and the visual style are irresistible.
The Love Story: We want these two lovers to find a way.
The Comedy: The show is frequently hilarious.

My year in mix 1997 (part 1 of 12)
Inspired by something going down over on Bluesky, this is My Year in Mix.
My year is 1997, and twelve posts will cover all the important aspects of popular music from this year. 60 videos, some songs that will be familiar even if you weren't a glint in your mother's eye, some that passed everyone by at the time.
Part one: The Evening Session
Radio 1's essential guide to new music, enthusiastically hosted by Steve Lamacq and Jo Whiley. The fizzing and cracking sounds of youth culture, none of the old farts who prop up daytimes.
"In your car" - Kenickie. Start the year as we mean to go on. Smell the glitter! Wear the PVC!
Go out, have fun, be reckless, wake up with a massive hangover.
Even when your band's gig is cancelled by a fire alarm and you're tipped out into the street, we'll have a time.
"The Spice Girls with guitars" said Kavana in a Smash Hits review.
"Your woman" - White Town. You won't find Jyoti Mishra at the club. He stayed in, recorded the song in his bedroom. Ambiguous lyric meets early-80s chiptune and 1930s sample.
Promoted by late evening presenters Mark and Lard, and the most unlikely chart-topper ever. Anyone can get to the top!
Gave Jyoti a lot more fame than he could deal with, so he rather pulled back from promotion. Even more than the song, that is his greatest legacy: the idea of "as much fame as you're comfortable with".
Bonus! Jyoti of White Town rarely gave interviews, then or now. He spoke to KEXP in 2022.
"Mum's gone to iceland" - Bennet. Very much an Evening Session band: quirky but not too outlandish, different and familiar at the same time. Their best work was "Someone always gets there first", but that's from 1996 and Too Darned Old.
Became an albatross around the band's neck, people expected them to be this witty and funny all the time. They're not Philip Pope, they're what Blur could have been if "Popscene" was their template.
"Drop dead gorgeous" - Republica. Second time was the charm for this all-out blaster. Drive down the highway, have this blasting out the windows.
Every note, every chord, every word counts. And just hear the venom in her voice.
Re-released in time for the Westminster election: public to John Major, "drop dead".
"Susan's house" - Eels.
Los Angeles was a tough-minded but generous muse. It offered Everett odd jobs, casual contacts, failed love affairs, deep depression and a crumbling sense of self-worth. For Everett, these were all reasons to sing. His support and refuge was the four-track, which he used to compile his early years in California into melodic diaries. Although the narrative's starting point, as always in Everett's music, was in the man's own life, the narrative's focus was outside the experiencer. In Susan's House, Everett was narrating the city itself, not himself in the city. Along his walks, Everett painted apish views from the edge of Los Angeles County; bushy, piquant details merged with gritty, sharp observations of the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Along the route, ambulance men stripped a boy shot to death, a demented woman who lost her home in a fire smashed bottles on cement, a young girl pushing a baby carriage walked by. They, together with the street scenes that surrounded them, were the real stars of the song.

Chapter Three
The Master stands on the flight deck, the camera once again aimed at him. "Citizens of Earth, rejoice and observe." Guards usher in Martha, and shoves her into position beside her family. On the other side of the deck, Jack is kneeling, glaring daggers at the Master. "Your teleport device," the Time Lord addresses Martha, "in case you thought I'd forgotten." She tosses the Vortex Manipulator at the Master, who catches it, and shoves it into his pocket, "And now, kneel." Jack, Martha, Clive, Francine and Tish kneel down in front of the Master. He turns slightly, "You too, Miss McCoy." She immediately obeys, kneeling down beside the Doctor in the birdcage. "Down below, the fleet is ready to launch. Two hundred thousand ships set to burn across the universe. Are we ready?"
Toclafane across the planet begin to respond, "The fleet awaits your signal. Rejoice!"
"Three minutes to align the black hole converters. Counting down," he glances at his watch, "I never could resist a ticking clock. My children, are you ready?"
"We will fly and blaze and slice. We will fly and blaze and slice."
"At zero, to mark this day, the child Martha Jones, will die. My first blood. Any last words?" Martha glares up at him, and he sighs, "No? Such a disappointment, this one." He turns to look at the birdcage, "Days of old, Doctor, you had companions who could absorb the time vortex. This one's useless." He turns back, and aims his screwdriver at Martha, "Bow your head. And so it falls to me, as Master of all, to establish from this day, a new order of Time Lords. From this day forward—" The medical student starts to laugh, and the Master glances around a little nervously, "What. What's so funny?"
"A gun," she laughs.
"What about it?"
"A gun in four parts?" she laughs again.
"Yes, and I destroyed it."
"A gun in four parts scattered across the world? I mean, come on, did you really believe that?"
"What do you mean?" the Master demands, aiming his screwdriver more forcefully at the woman.
"As if I would ask her to kill," the Doctor says, wrapping his tiny hands around the Bars on the birdcage.
"Oh well, it doesn't matter," he shrugs, "I've got her exactly where I want her."
"But I knew what Professor Docherty would do. The Resistance knew about her son. I told her about the gun, so she'd get me here at the right time."
"Oh, but you're still going to die."
"Don't you want to know what I was doing, travelling the world?"
The Master crouches in front of her, and whispers, menacingly, "Tell me."
"I told a story, that's all. No weapons, just words. I did just what the Doctor said. I went across the continents all on my own. And everywhere I went, I found the people, and I told them my story. I told them about the Doctor. And I told them to pass it on, to spread the word so that everyone would know about the Doctor."
The Master laughs, "Faith and hope? Is that all?"
"No, because I gave them an instruction, just as the Doctor said." Martha pushes herself back to her feet, and glares at the Master, "I told them that if everyone thinks of one word, at one specific time–"
"Nothing will happen," the Master interrupts, "Is that your weapon? Prayer?"
"Right across the world," she continues, "one word, just one thought at one moment but with fifteen satellites."
"What?"
Jack grins, "The Archangel Network."
Martha nods at him, "A telepathic field binding the whole human race together, with all of them, every single person on Earth, thinking the same thing at the same time. And that word is Doctor."
As the clock reaches zero, the Doctor starts to glow. Sophie collapses, her hands clutching at her head. There's a war waging inside her brain, the Master's influence waning as the Doctor grows more and more powerful. She can't think, move, or barely breathe.
Sophie looks around, as her mind finally snaps back. She spies a handgun on the floor nearby. She slips forward, and grabs the weapon. Her thoughts are still jumbled, and she can hardly focus. She aims the gun at the man that she knows is behind all of this pain, time seems to slow, and she pulls the trigger. All at once, time goes back to normal. People jump in fear around her, and Jack turns, practically running at her. Sophie's legs go out, finally realizing her actions. Her breathing increases in intensity, and she can barely hold herself up, as she curls in on herself on the floor. She registers voices around her, but her brain is still too jumbled to even pick out individual words.
Sophie can feel a hand on her shoulder, and she shrugs it off, as tears begin to fall out of her eyes. All of the sudden, she's in the air. Her jumbled thoughts are beginning to knit themselves back together, but she tries to fight against whoever is holding her. Sophie thinks it must be one of the Master's lackies, and she kicks against the person.
Finally, her thoughts snap back to her, and she slumps, looking up. Jack, covered in smoke and dirt stands there, cradling her body. "What happened?" she asks quietly. Then her thoughts remember the gunshot, her hands still burning from the heat, and her arms aching from the recoil, "What did I do?" she breathes, her eyes widening.
Jack slowly lowers her to the floor. When her feet are firmly planted on the ground, Sophie turns, finding the Doctor, cradling the Master's body, crying. Her heart pangs, and she stumbles back, noticing the blood flowing out of the wound. She finds herself against a firm surface, and she slumps. Hands land on her shoulders, and she looks up to find Jack looking sadly down at her. She turns fast, pushing her face into Jack's chest, and she sobs. His shirt smells of smoke, and blood, and death, but she can't bring herself to care. Jack simply rubs her arms silently, doing his best to offer comfort.
Sophie isn't sure how long it is, but eventually the Doctor places his friend down on the floor of the Valiant, and turns around, his eyes blazing, "Why?" he asks Sophie, his voice eerily calm.
Jack's grip increases on Sophie's shoulder, as she faces her friend. "Doctor," he says calmly.
The Time Lord doesn't break his eye contact with Sophie, "Why, Soph?"
"I-" her head drops, and she shuffles her feet, "I don't know, I-I wasn't thinking, I couldn't think."
The Doctor grumbles something under his breath, but turns on his heel. Martha takes a step toward him, and he turns his gaze on her. She freezes, and lets the livid Gallifreyan breeze past. "Where are you going?" she asks quietly.
The Time Lord freezes, "Someone has to land this thing. And I don't think any of you can. Unless you want to take a chance?" he says, turning and directing his gaze at the meager group. As his gaze sweeps over each person, they shy away. The Oncoming Storm marches away, and as he exits the deck and the group let out a collective sigh of relief. Sophie crumbles, the weight of her actions, and the Doctor's palatable anger heavy on her shoulders. Jack crouches down beside her, and the pain on her tear-streaked face will haunt his dreams for the next few days.
He takes one of her hands, and smiles slightly at her, "Hey, kid, how are you doing?"
She holds his hand like it's the only thing on the earth, "I-Why did I do that, Jack?"
He sighs, ducking his head, "It wasn't you, kiddo, not really. The Master had you under hir sway for a long while. When his hold on you was released, your mind snapped from the trauma of the past year. When that happened, your body reacted and in that moment, you shot him. When your mind had recovered, you realised what had happened, that's what's happening right now."
"But the Doctor, he-he hates me."
Jack sighs, and scrubs a hand across his mouth, "Oh, Soph. You know he never could. He's grieving, he'll get over it." He pulls her into his arms, and holds her in a tight embrace.
