I wrote a crack poem slightly based on Poe’s ‘The Raven’ (mostly just the rhyme scheme of the opening two lines, I’ve never read it) about the paranoia that BBC Sherlock’s phone charger deduction has caused for so many people over the years:

Once upon an evening dreary

I reached for my mobile, weak and weary

I noticed the battery was all but spent

So I reached for the charger right next to my bed

Alas! I fumbled, as a clumsy fool

It was dark, my eyes blurred, I looked a right tool

I tried in vain twice, thrice, god willing

Then at last I heard a voice, detached and chilling

“Clearly alcoholic” quoth the BBC detective

In return I did blink, with newfound perspective

For a fictional phantom did haunt me that night

But I refused to seem all a-fright

In response I did utter “I am but a minor

I do not consume alcohol, but juice - it’s finer”

The spectre mocked “A liar, too, shall I go on?”

“You shall not” I shook with terror, wanting Benedict gone

“Just leave me alone” I tried, but forsooth!

The ghost cried “No! I’ve more to deduce!”

Alas for that spectre, I’d had quite enough

And I swore at him then, in a rather foul huff

“Kindly fuck off, you CGI Grinch

For your finale kind of did stink

And on behalf of the fan base, whose trauma endures

I say we won’t face your phone based abuse anymore”

He nodded and smiled, as if proud of my words

And then, he said something rather absurd

“Good, you have learnt all that I tried to teach

To form judgment of your own, with power when you speak

Do NOT do that to them. They would all HATE the club.

Laios and Falin and Kabru? Would hate the noise and flashing lights and the inability to talk to people about their special interests (monsters, monsters, and using their encyclopaedic knowledge of the island's inhabitants for purposes of scheming).

Mithrun? Too depressed to find enjoyment in that sorta thing. Or any sorta thing. It's sad, really.

Shuro and Namari? They're not main characters. Who cares.

Senshi? The man chose to live as a hunting and farming loner whose most frequent social interactions were with a remote band of Orcs he played farmer's market to. He would take one look at the club and run screaming into the woods.

Chilchuck? He should be at the PUB! Or maybe grilling a Sunday barbecue for his kids and grandkids! Which he probably has at this point, he's old enough.

Izutsumi? She's a cat.

Marcille? ... Okay, I admit she might actually enjoy the club. She and Thistle should *maybe* be at the club.
