On June 27, 2019 at the Angelika Film Center & Cafe in Dallas, TX... Gentlemen Jack presents the #RealToReel festival! Real To Reel celebrates new African American voices in film. This event was extremy eye opening and inspiring! Learning about the up and coming (Black) filmmakers and to watch their stories come to life was beautiful, intricate art. This year, three filmmakers were selected to display their work in the cinema, followed by a panel discussion featuring actor Lance Gross.

Through film, viewers met J. Rhodes; a music producer from Oak Cliff, Texas, who directed “Metronome.” The short film takes us back in time during certain events the producer experienced. From creating beats in a living room, to sitting in award ceremonies with other producers, and back to current moments. The visual, mostly filled with music, takes viewers down a spiral of pivotal timeline of the producers journey.

Viewers also met Cydell Addison, who is from Louisiana and completed film school in Burbank, CA. Her short film “Conflicted” was about the struggles her father faced while living in New Orleans, becoming a police officer, trying to provide for his family, and also protect his mother. The financial struggles he found himself in, ultimately led him to turn to the streets. Hustling was the best way out of his bind, as the story ends in a “to be continued” closure.

Lastly, viewers met Chris Guinn from Atlanta, TX. Chris studied Mass Communication at Texas State University. “Black Trump Card” is the title of his short film. The complex, yet intriguing film pulled viewers in, because no one knew what was going to happen next! In the film, Black influencers were bribed financially by the government to tell stories of Trump that would help him win the election. This storyline was extremely captivating and thought provoking, one may think the events took place, then again... did it happen?

During the panel discussion, attendees were given the opportunity to ask questions to the directors and Lance Gross. While a lot of advice was shared across the room for aspiring actors and directors, a viewer asked Lance Gross “How does he pick scripts?” He answered,

“I always look for material that’s going to challenge me. I look for projects that move me, because, so often we (Black people) get really bad scripts.” -Lance Gross

While this is true, independent directors are being given the opportunity to showcase their art, their story, and their truths on the #RealToReel platform. Gentlemen Jack has created this event to shine light on the rising filmmakers and I look forward to what these creatives will do in the future—

If that’s what BC went through with that bully, then I truly feel sorry for him. But part of me keeps wondering where the BC was who helped JRhodes stop the abuse he went through. Or the BC who had to do his best Sherlock to escape some creep who tried to kidnap him. But at the end of the day, another bully gets back just as bad as he dished out. I personally hope that pig gets jail time for what he’s done.

I think it might be fair to point out that HW is not the only bully in Hollywood, he’s just the one who got caught, and he’s probably the worst I’ve heard about. However if you’re ready to be disillusioned further read the story of Sondra Locke. It shows that CEastwood wasn’t much better. And there’s lots of stories about ArnoldS. and his constant sexual harassment of women. Like I say HW is the worst I’ve heard about.

Maybe BC can quietly split and move on with his life now. I guess it depends on whether the company that was HW’s survives itself. And if so what the person who will run it is like.

Mr FF#1 had been following the stories about HW and is increasingly disgusted with him. He finally stopped reading the stories altogether because he was so disgusted.

Was the person who told MF about the heart sign a JohnLocker? Sure sounds like they are. A real fan would not do something like that to any actor. MF is so lovely with his fans right now, why would anyone do anything to jeopardize that.

*siiiiiigh* on the Harvey / Ben thing.  I don’t think Ben was prepared for what hit him when Harvey signed up for The Imitation Game and it showed during the summer of 2014 and how he handled himself.  After that... it all became a travelling circus for him, which eventually snowballed into a freak show that’s still ongoing 3 years in...

As far as the fan who asked Martin to do the heart sign at SD being a Johnlocker, I never make such assumptions and I don’t belong to that section of the fandom that demonizes Johnlockers.  Although I avidly ship Sherlolly, I think Johnlockers are some of the smartest people in the fandom and have written some of the most clever metas I’ve read about ... not only Sherlock, but any show.  Ever.

Hugs FF#1 and give a hug to Mr FF#1 from me as well.  Tell him I feel the same way about all that’s coming out in the wash about Harvey...
