Ok I love this. Might be a long answer.

I don't know how much input he had into Compose Coffee's storyboard for this - though love that they got the memo 😂 - but the others are all his work and vision (as far as I know)

Simple answer:

It's two men in a bed in the only way he was able to show that. And in Slow Dancing, the queer cast of the MV all become Tae. He is them, they are him. It all feels queer coded to me.

Complicated answer:

I went to film school, right, 8000 years ago cos I'm ancient, and mirrors were always like shorthand for opposing ideas inside one person. Being at war with yourself or a hidden side. A mirror suggests another side of yourself or a visual representation of the duality of dark and light, good vs evil, real vs fake.

Clones are basically mirrors but less insular if that makes sense. What we see in a mirror is usually a thing we do alone. Clones are a more outward expression of duality, I think? It feels like look at me. There's more to me than the single dimension you're asked to believe.

So I think that's about sexuality, the face he has to present to the public vs the reality, but I wonder if there's another layer sitting alongside...

Promise this is related but I've been playing In The Seom recently. So cute but I find it funny how the mainstream characterisation is so limiting? JK is a gym bunny. Suga is tired. RM is studious. Hobi is happy all the time. V is dreamy and childlike. I get that a little game can't be an in depth character study but it's not just the game. Run BTS captions are rigid about these archetypes even when their behaviour opposes them. There's like a rigid set of rules they adhere to and key stories that get trotted out to support a narrative. (In this narrative, he's V who, to me, is different to our real Taehyung.)

I feel like this must be restricting for all of them (and they've kicked out against it since hiatus, I think, explicitly in the case of Joonie, Yoongi and JK) but especially for a person like Tae who is smarter, kinder, funnier, more knowledgeable and savvy and determined than they'd have us believe. He is not permanently head in the clouds, he's actually quite strong and firm in his convictions. He believes in things and goes to bat for them.

I think about him saying, in that last group live, "I can look after myself when I need to." Like fully let's be real now. Bear emoji is cute but I'm a grown man.

I think this clone imagery could have a secondary meaning of I am more than just V. Here's Taehyung. See me now?

It was just supposed to be a tour, and it was just supposed to be meeting up with the rest of them at the main resort. The small group couldnt' all go together on one ship and so Namjoon and Chaewon had volunteered to take the next boat. This was a strange decision for both of them. Usually she would have gone with JK in an instant, or he would have partnered with Kay, but for some reason they had switched it up and then made a bet on which one would get back to the rooms faster. They were clearly going to win. The little boat had been caught and then hit a large rock before getting stuck on driftwood. Unable to budge the boat, the tour guide had tried to use their radio to get another boat to pick them up, but so far they were having trouble getting a signal. Swimming a short distance to a small island was their recourse, taking along the few things that they had. "We've already seen three horror movies where this did not end well." He said to Chaewon as he adjusted the cap he wore. He did apply more sunscreen and then offered her the tube.

The bad luck couldn't be any more over stated than it was.

Chaewon isn't as competitive as most people, yet she did qualify under the umbrella—especially since she was more upset the boat crashed not because of their safety, but simply due to the fact they were going to lose. It made a pout cross over her features while she rang out her clothes of sea water.

"Next thing we know we're going to be 'In The Seom' 2.0," the younger girl teased him before taking the sunscreen. The joke was anything to help lighten up the mood since she wasn't quite sure what to feel. How long were they going to be stuck on this empty island? When would someone come and rescue get them?

The only thing she could sum up was planting herself criss-crossed next to the waves of water pushing up on the sand. She was at loss outside of gently rubbing dots of sunscreen over her skin.

"What should we do to pass time? They can't be that far out from us, right, Joonie?" a question of fear, really.

I was a bit disappointed that you didn't see anything wrong in the seom game screenshots Bpp. I know Jimin isn't your bias but I thought you'd defend him and I was shocked to read your reply not doing that. I felt very hurt. And they fixed the problem Bpp! The company fixed it so that means we were right! The dialogue was bad to Jimin and made him look weak. All the time I've followed you you've always defended Jimin even when you're firm on him and others, but yesterday I almost wanted to cry when I saw you wanted those harmful views to spread in the fandom. But maybe out of disbelief I went back to read what you said to be sure my emotions weren't tricking my eyes,,, I could see where you were coming from and felt bad that I ran to conclusions. I'm trying to keep an open mind and one way those stuff could harm Jimin, but on the other hand they sound like stuff from the past he has said.

One thing I hope is clear when I write here, is that I hope that when all is said and done, that you're ultimately doing what you want here. If you see something that you think needs to be changed or fixed, I'm the last person who would try to stop you, even if I don't agree with the underlying reasons. And just as I said yesterday, while I felt that dialogue is consistent with what we've seen in original content from their debut years (including the harshness of Yoongi's teasing), if you thought it was problematic then of course you should do something about it.

And that's what happened, and now the problem you identified is fixed. We had a difference of opinion and the Amazon didn't disappear, the Arctic didn't boil, JK is still being a prime babygirl, Jimin is still thriving, and jikook are still jikooking. :)

With all due respect (and honestly, don’t take this badly.. I understand uncertainty and how you want to get to the bottom of things) but I’ve already told you I find the whole 8-11 theory nonsense. I mean, they even have the date wrong, so how can anything else make sense? I don’t believe Jimin and Jk are together, and I don’t even do dates and numbers for my own ship, so I’m not going to go through that list you sent me. I don’t mind explaining my thoughts on Jimin and Jk, and I don’t even mind explaining specific situations, but I’m not going to invest too much on things that aren’t actually something Jk and Jimin have done. This is all fandom, there’s nothing really. When people have to start multiplying and adding numbers to get to where they want to.. you just know it’s not real.

The second thing you asked me I haven’t looked into, so I can’t give an explanation or analysis right now… but I suspect there’s a completely logical reason for this as well.

Anniversary follow-up

So Jk explained his whole sleeve in the Weverse live on Feb 2, confirming more than half a year later what his tattoo artist polyc already shared on his insta story.

There are numbers hidden in the tattoo and it's the date when he came to Seoul (he claimed yet again).

Thanks to polyc, we knew about the meaning half a year earlier, so bless that man. The fact that he couldn't help himself and shared a quickly deleted story outlining the numbers with that emoji blushing peeking out between fingers... dude knew. I get that... I mean even if shipping is a widely popularized activity nowadays, the reality of something like that is still mind blowing and super exciting if true.

I did a compilation of Jk's obsession with June 4 2011 before, and I admire his consistency. The last time he mentioned the exact date was in 2021 during their Butter comeback vlive show.

Later, we got non-verbal acknowledgements: from his developer notes for their game In the Seom to the tattoo cover up in early 2022.

A key point: Jk keeps the meaning of [June 4 2011] vague and fickle (changes every now and then), but for people who pay attention, it's easy to tell what it means to him.

As a side note: based off how he wishes to NOT link anyone else to the date, he wants to be low key. From what I've gathered so far and the reason why I'm cautious with words here, it is not something they want exposed to the public. (It's also a sensitive period, being loud can only be detrimental.) They didn't have plans in the past, and have no current plans in the present. The future is unknown and it's not my place, or any outsiders' to presume.

Like I've said, it's a tricky balance to toe writing about them and trying not to write too explicitly. I'm glad my tumblr is so obscure that I feel like I can still do this.
