I have thoughts about JB300 androids that we see in the Stratford Tower that work on TV.
Live translations require a ridiculous amount of equipment: cameras, tripods, cables (A LOT of cables), computers, keyboards, monitors, additional monitors for operators to see what's up, audio equipment, extension cords, all kinds of converters...my point is that it's a lot of stuff and shit is heavy and expensive. Even the most simple set-up requires the amount of equipment that's heavy, expensive and requires several people to operate.
But now let's imagine an android being involved — that's already a camera + tripod + operator + computer + potentially audio tech. It's like most of the heavy equipment and necessary crew at once.
JB300 are probably amongst the most powerful androids in terms of their hardware as they potentially process multiple raw video/audio inputs, but also the least human-like as a consequence of their function. If they record through their eyes they need to stay still, if they hold an external camera their hands should not shake even a little and they have to be able to walk in such a speed with such stability that from a bystander perspective it'll look disturbingly inhuman as no human can move in this precise way, be so still and hold a heavy camera for that long. I headcanon that JB androids don't even breathe as this action will only disturb their otherwise perfect stability and they already are too uncanny with most of their humanisation filters being incompatible with the kind of work they do.
It's possible that setup for live translation can look simply like two-three JB300 that act like operators+camera+transmitters+converters+audio-techs and a human with monitor for live-stream editing which, however can also be omitted if JB300 already can run the stream with deciding on the fly which input to send live, when and how with which captions/additional graphics. Hell, they can basically replace the whole crew and truck worth of equipment with only like three-four JB300.
Thinking about it I arrived at the point where I started to speculate how can this affect the existing set-up and here's the vision:
Being on the other side of the camera it's one thing to look into the camera and another to be watched by eerie motionless android whose eyes are switched to record mode and don't even look human. It's possible that JB300 would be filming through one-way mirrors so that those people who are being filmed would look at their reflection instead of JB300 whose sight is only making them feel uneasy.
Basically yeah, JB300 androids are probably amongst the most powerful yet inhumanly-looking androids there are. They may not have that much of the social protocols to hold a conversation as they are really much practical tools that need to follow instructions rather than appealing to someone as friendly customer service faces. Also they probably have the most expensive eyes among all androids.

I hope you guys know it makes me really happy you’re all coming up with dumb ideas as to how simon got home w/ that busted ass leg im laughing just reading the tags (=^▽^)σ
david cage’s laziness with his background leading everyone to either believe he’s a stealth master or just ragdolled down the tower and didn’t break his body somehow on the concrete lmao
#personally I like a blend of him pulling a full metal gear while bringing home some JB300s he received help from#also recalibrating the circuitry of his leg w/ how he knows his body inside and out#it’s still really funny the image of him flinging his body down the tower and not dying though LOL#dbh

Yo, it's me. I was thinking about some engineering shit and just felt like asking some dbh folks about it.
Androids in 2038 in the game probably ain't got a human-like nerve system, especially cuz it's a weak point and can screw up the sells. With that in mind:
Do you think androids are numb?
->They can't feel (our feel) touches, temperature etc but can notice changes in variables (like proximity sensors warning physical contact (positive/negative) )?
->They can process/have a false equivalent response of ONLY what is in 'em field of view (much like what happens with us here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYQLFl-hgts)?
Or do you think they do feel (our feel) to a certain point or a translated "android feeling"?
->Contacts being translated to core (cpu/brain) shocks, lags, glitches?
(So sorry this took me so long)
I think about this all of the time.
Anytime I watch or interact with any kind of sci-fi content where they explain that the technological-beings don't experience pain, I think why the hell would they say that, that just gives them more complications - but what they really mean is that these technological beings don't feel pain the way we do, so they're going to disregard it entirely. Because it's much more complicated than our kind of pain, and - while they may not feel pain the way we do - they have to have some kind of self preservation functions somehow, or they'd die/let themselves be destroyed SO easily without even realising it.
Here's what I've decided on.
Humans feel pain as our body's way of saying "hey! that causes damage!" or "hey! there's damage here! either fix it, or don't bother it until it's fixed!"; it's how our bodies teach us not to touch fire or hot metal, not to jump off tall heights, not to poke sharp things, etc., lest we be harmed. So if the androids truly felt no "pain" in the sense of "pain = a sensation that alerts to damage/harm on the body", then that would be really fucking stupid on the part of the creators. Pain is our self preservation, so if androids had no way of knowing when something was endangering their body, they'd have no self preservation, nor even the conscious act of being able to ignore self preservation. They would constantly need repaired, rebuilt, or replaced because they never took precautions to preserve their being.
However, the androids in detroit become human do receive sensations that alert them to damage - their heads-up-display gives them warnings, telling them when they've reached a temperature that's too high/low to be safe, when they've suffered physical damage such as a gun wound, or when they're missing a necessary biocomponent such as the thirium pump. They also start slowing down, or become more restricted in their functions, to avoid damaging themselves further. The same way humans' pain is unpleasant at best and absolutely debilitating at worst, to the point of causing humans to "shut down" from pain, the constant blaring warnings in an android's HUD plus the failure of their motor functions as a result of damage/encountering something that causes damage would also be unpleasant at best or absolutely debilitating at worst, to the point of causing the androids to shut down; and this absolutely counts as pain. It maddens me that just because their pain isn't the exact same physical sensation it is for humans, they're considered - within the game's canon - to not feel pain. Of course plenty of humans would believe that since a machine doesn't react to pain or feel pain the same way humans do, that must mean they don't feel it. But stating officially that "androids don't feel pain" with such confirmation even from Connor, is just ridiculous, and - ironically - shows complete apathy towards an android's type of pain on behalf of the game's creators.
If androids couldn't feel pain, Connor wouldn't have received warnings that the JB300 deviant removing his thirium pump would cause him to shut down, and he wouldn't have been restricted from his full movement in order to preserve his body until the pump was replaced. If androids couldn't feel pain, Kara wouldn't have received warnings that the icy river water she'd jumped into to push Alice to shore was too cold and would damage her biocomponents after a certain amount of time. If androids couldn't feel pain, Markus would have been able to keep walking towards the SWAT soldiers if you picked "sacrifice" in Freedom March, rather than falling to the ground, because he wouldn't know that the bullets were slowly damaging him, and his movements wouldn't have been halted to preserve his body until the wounds could be healed. If androids couldn't feel pain, they'd keep going until there was nothing left of them to go on. But each time, they're stopped, their motor functions shut down to preserve them, they shut down, and they're warned by their HUDs; and this stops them from continuing the act that could harm them, or motivates them to avoid it/fix it, to preserve themselves until they can be fixed. Of course there's a difference between "an android's functions shutting down due to lack of the parts required to perform such functions" and "an android's functions shutting down as a way to warn them of their inevitable full-shut down if they don't fix the issue/slow or stop the shut down from occurring", but I hope you get my point. The fact that the androids are even aware in the first place that something could harm them - and not from previously taught knowledge, but from their systems actively warning them as the harm occurs - should be enough to prove that the androids in the game do feel pain. They just feel it differently.
And that's all just the physical stuff, too. We know for a fact that the androids can and do suffer trauma, to the point where they completely break away from their initial programming, which means their emotional/mental pain is just as real as a human's.
Going in hand with this, I think the androids can feel the things they touch, or that touch them, because otherwise they'd be completely vulnerable, and unaware. Like, in case if someone was trying to get their attention by tapping their shoulder but they couldn't see. (I think that domestic models especially would be able to feel sensations, as they might be asked to check someone's temperature for a fever by touching their forehead, or they might be asked to analyse if a fabric or texture would be uncomfortable/itchy, etc.) Furthermore, androids would need to be able to differentiate between textures/sensations, so they at least would need something in their skin that could react to stimulations, and send that information to their "brains". Again, the way they feel these sensations might be different to the way a human does, but I would think they'd still be able to feel touch, even to the point of locating the source of the touch on their person. In that regard, and in reference to the video you linked, I think androids would have an advantage as their brains would not trick themselves in this way but would have constant awareness of their bodies and the sensations they receive; I think they'd have a "no-bullshit" detector or something in this case lmao. There are significant advantages and conveniences to be able to feel sensations - in the sense of being alerted to the body experiencing a stimulation - and I think it'd be very detrimental if androids couldn't feel touch.

What do you all think?
AU Batboys as Cyberlife Androids
I have 100% a bit more than I can chew with this. As I mostly know these fandoms from fanfiction. And I haven't even played the game. But that doesn't stop me from going of the deep end and make a AU in my head featuring the bat boys as cyberlife androids. And of course, Bruce is the but of the jokes too. So how does this work? Let me tell you what I came up with at work doing busy work that requires low brain power, and I pretty much autopilot and AU craft. So the idea is that Dick, Jay, Tim, and Dami have all ended up deviating. And due to damage taken, has either managed to cram themselves altogether in child model Android (or some sort of USB system storage). Anyway, that's how we get Robin, who managed to sneak away using a circus as a cover, and they end up in Gotham. (I think Dick might have been a police android before the transfer to the Robin collective, and Jay maybe was modified by the past owner for crime, no idea about Tim and Dami yet, though.) So, even if they are at risk of getting hurt, they still try to do good in the world. They some how run into Batman. With a lot of back and forth, Bruce managed to convince Robin to come with him. What they don't tell Bruce at first is that there are more of them. So, after some time, Robin asks Bruce if he could get an adult frame, please. Brucie managed to convince the public that he got the child boot secondhand. And there has been a lot of speculation as to why of the not-so-savory variety. So when Bruce requests a blank model with no programming to be sent to Wayne Tech for the transfer. The only reason Cyberlife agrees to it is that someone in Wayne tech RND convinces them Wayne is probably just gonna .... the bot. and yeah, that's how Dick gets the cake. As the others were like no, you've been in charge of Robin for so long now, you go first. So Dick agrees to transfer to the new custom model, which can change to Mr. Wayne's preference. To Bruce's surprise, Robin is operational, just different as Jay is in charge of the collective now as the next experienced model in the line. This is where Dick and the others come clear that Robin is more of a Matryoshka situation. It takes some time for Bruce to get to terms with that situation. But after some time has gone by, they come up with a plan to get another clean slate android body. Brucie is now gonna be in to role play, for his second android. He manages to get one of them beefy security bots. So yeah, he leaves Wayne RND with the forwarding request for a new blank bot from Cyberlife. And some techs are thoroughly amused by the goings on that the requests go through. And That's how we get a big beefy boy for Jay to jump to. Making it Tim's turn to be in primary control of Robin for a time. Bruce asks Robin just how many there are in there now, as it seems like the supply is never-ending. Tim calms Bruce down by saying that if they get one more android body, they'll have one each. more time elapse. And Brucie has to make yet another request, this time for a android secretary. Lucky for Bruce, the same guys as the last time are still changing and approving his request again, sending what they laughingly call "an Androgynous Twink for Mr Wayne" this time. And That's how we get Tim and Dami separated again.
And that's what I got so far, as I have no clue what more to do than possibly draw stuff. ---- So I posted on Discord to and the oh so wonderful @bucketorandomness
Added this; yes, I asked if it was okay to do the edit with credit
Option for more after-market additions for the boys:
Damian was originally a security model who was changed into an assassin by unsavory folks
Timothy was still a Drake, purchased as a kind of “test run for a real child” which they think is going great when it really wasn’t. Extra learning modules and some advanced reasoning in his base programming were mandatory for purchase
Cassandra, like Dami, was repurposed into a stealth-based assassin from a dancer base. Language programming was removed to make more room for the modifications. She follows one of the others home after recognizing a fellow android
Duke gets adopted into the Robin Collective temporarily while they drag his model back to Bruce and demand he fix it
Stephanie isn’t an android, but she did jokingly offer to join the Robin Collective once science figures out how to download a consciousness. Whether or not that already exists is up for debate.
Barbara can be a secretary model for the GPD or she can be another human like Steph if you want. If she is an android, I suggest Jim Gordon notices her deviancy and decides to adopt this new person and teach her how to people like a daughter. Also maybe self-installed body mods. I feel like she’d get a tattoo without supervision so why not upgrade her own RAM and other abilities?

Connor, Kara, and Markus are all law enforcement androids of different skillsets.
During the hostage situation, Connor bravely exists onto the terrace, knowing that Markus is on the roof nearby with a sniper trained on Daniel, and Kara had filled the late-comer in with the necessary details: Connor had to save Alice from Daniel's grip. Something had shaken Kara before Connor had arrived; it's up to him now to talk the deviant down. He saves Alice, Markus shoots Daniel, and Connor walks away. Kara later checks up on the Williams family who had just lost their mother to the deviant. She raises her hand to knock, but hears Todd yelling inside. She discovers Alice's abuse and deviates to save her. They run.
The boys notice the teleconnection dynamic change. Not quite understanding what occured, they pursue Kara, not listening to Hank who's telling them to stay put. They find her racing across a dangerous highway, and while Connor's strong programming automatically demands for Markus not to climb the fence, Markus' programming struggles. Out there is his dear friend and teammate. To not listen to the other dear friend and teammate beside him, he deviates to save Kara and Alice from the highway.
Connor, now recieving direct orders from Kara and Markus, follows them across the highway. They hide in abandoned house, where Ralph wants to feed Alice a possum. They don't have much time here because Connor isn't yet a deviant and his tracker still works.
Kara and Markus manually deviate Connor, and unknowing to them, Alice helps Connor deviate too through teleconnection but he's the only one aware of it.
They escape to Jericho, where they meet the Jericrew, and Carl the rich pro-android rights painter is visiting his feighter that he bought years ago for the exact purpose of harbouring deviants. Over the course of game, they go on missions to get parts from the warehouse, recruitment missions that collect Rupert, Ralph, the Jerrys and whoever else, and rescue missions where Kara is captured by Zlatko and Markus and Connor swoop in to save the day (exept Kara has already escaped and they're both very impressed).
Earlier in the game, they return to the DPD with false trackers and explain that they experienced a bug but it's all fixed now (Luther and Lucy are very smart in altering logs and creating tech). CyberLife believes they have been with the DPD for the last two days and the DPD thinks that CyberLife had them. Hank welcomes them back, Gavin gives them a hard time, Fowler tells Hank off for letting them go haywire, and ultimately, Hank deep inside hoped they had deviated and run off. They would have, but not when there's so much work to do.
Stratford tower. They infiltrate. Simon has big heart eyes for Markus and wanted to come along. Cue whole tower level, Simon gets shot, they spare him and he hides, they all jump off the tower.
Next hour, the three have to play stupid. They're with Hank in the elevator and Connor's flicking his coin. They exit, the feds are here, they're briefed, and they meet Perkins. Cue Midnight Train gameplay where Kara strategically hides evidence, and while no one's looking, Connor comedically helps by desperately licking the wall clean that hadn't been marked yet. Markus checks out the rooftop, and while he does so, plans the march by scouring the streets below. He has to get Simon out of here before he's found.
Connor has to get the JB300 out. This deviant helped them smuggle in the changes of uniform. Kara is erasing the CCTV footage. Markus communicates with Simon telepathically to guide him across the rooftop without being seen, much like the office scene in the Matrix as Morpheus tells Neo to duck between the office desks while the agents have their backs turned.
Kara co-ordinates everything strategically from the inside. Connor wants Markus to manually deviate the other two androids. The whole group has to make it to the elevator. They won't make it. The deviants race there, Connor chasing after them in pretend urgency. Unknowing, the main JB300 pulls the gun out as Simon and the other two deviants make it to the elevator. Markus is racing down from the roof. Kara is racing from the big screen. Connor is right in the hallway. The JB300 doesn't realise that the DPD is also in a way the Three's ally. He begins to mow them down as the elevator doors close and he wanted to sacrifice himself for them to get away. Connor tackles Hank and the JB300 accidentally shoots him. "Son, no..." Hank whispers.
It's time for Kara and Markus to raid the CyberLife stores and set their people free. North wants to break stuff, so she comes to fill the two in on the situation. She had waited a long time for this, after all. They (and Josh) are heartbroken over the death of Connor. They free their people.
Connor wakes up. It's raining. He's face down in the mud and he's missing his legs. He crawls through the pit and digs himself out. Everyone thinks he's dead and that his model series is decomissioned after he went deviant. He wraps himself up and travels through the city.
Kara and Markus handle the Eden Club alone, and Kara kicks ass/gets her ass beat. Markus chooses to spare the Tracis and Hank is a sus.
Russian Roulette level. Connor, in desperation, breaks in to his Lieutenant's house for help. He sobers him up and explains the whole situation. Hank's like "well shit" and knows all three are deviants.
Connor meets up with Kara and Markus just before Freedom March, and he gives Alice a hug. The Three and the Jericrew go to Hart Plaza and begin their march. Connor is up on a building with a sniper. Kara is leading. Markus is running around converting androids. "We are alive!" Kara belts, disguised as a household android. The military arrive. Josh telepathically demands Connor not to shoot. North wants him to shoot. Kara will only attack if Connor attacks and is getting the same pressure from Josh and North. Simon is begging Markus to run, and if Markus runs, he'd be leaving Kara defenseless. Communictions are flying everywhere, almost overwhelming. Byzantine Generals Problem. If done correctly, they sucessfully co-ordinate. On peaceful, Kara sacrifices herself, but John comes and saves her. On voilent, Connor opens the attack by shooting down some openings in the shield wall for Kara and Markus to vault through.
Hank drives the Three go to Kamski's for answers. They chat for a bit, learn that Canada is a good idea to flee to for Alice and that Rose exists to help. For other info, they'd have to shoot Chloe, and Markus deviates her through touch. She flips Kamski off and Hank is very confused when the group return to the car with one of Kamski's androids.
Last Chance, Kara. She puts together the evidence as Markus punches Perkins in the face. Hank "escorts" Markus out. Kara and Gavin fight and she beats his ass. Oh yeah earlier in the game she would have made him a coffee and poured it on his head.
Leo goes to his dad's old freighter because "why the hell is he spending so much time here instead of time with me". He discovers the hundreds of deviants.. and blows the whistle.
Crossroads sequence. Escape with Alice. Rose and Adam take Alice to safety with the protection of Luther. The Three rescue their people.
Violence or peaceful, they emerge, Connor no longer in hiding. They lead their people to victory.
Deep in the night, they reconnect with Alice and Luther and help them cross the boarder. Kara must choose between staying with the boys and going with her newfound daughter. Either option is heartbreaking.
Character arcs revolve around family: Hank becoming Connor's dad, Carl becoming Markus' dad, Kara becoming Alice's mum.
(For the sake of Hnkcon shippers, maybe if you play Hank and Connor a certain way the relationship doesn't turn familial but instead romantic?)
DBH AUs where Connor, Kara, and Markus are all working together on the same mission(s). E.i. All three of them hunting deviants and solving crimes with Hank, or all of them leading the revolution and making their stand, or all of them helping Alice escape her abusive home and getting her safely to Canada. Idk I just like the idea of all of them teaming up to to accomplish the same goal

How in the fucking hell Simon or that Kitchen Android got blind? I mean, I can understand they getting blind if something hit 'em optical units or damaged inside 'em head not letting it work.
But this effect?
?????????????????
Bro, Daniel got his ass blasted by at least 3 magnum rounds in his head and he didn't went blind.
I swear, I'm hyper curious about how this optical units really work and what material they're made of. Concept arts don't explain that much.
