"You know, Monroe said something to me today when we were arguing and things got personal," Rosetta's eyes were sore and tired, throbbing painfully from the crying she had done on the hard shoulder of the road on her way home from work. She hadn't wanted Jamie or Tabby to see her cry, it was easier to find the evidence than the act anyway, "He said that one day Tabby would look at me and see thw monster I am and despise me for it, and you would wake up and realise that you could do so much better than a fat lump like me, Jamie...And he's right, on both counts, you could have any one you want, someone better than this, Jamie, why do you stay?" (Ro is in the Bad Place, Jamie please save her and love her???)
@ordinaryheroines for Jamie.
"Ro," Jamie's voice softens as her expression changes to something both a mix of shock and sadness on Rosetta's behalf; her hands reach out to take hers between her own, linking their fingers. "I would never think anything like that. He had no right to say something like that to you," Her tone remains steady, shifting her weight back a bit to look up at her partner easier, despite their height difference. "You're a wonderful mother to Tabby, and having you two in my life has... it's made me even happier to wake up every day with you both."

Author’s note
There is something you need to know before you read this one-shot.
This one-shot takes place in the year 1995. It’s set in an alternate universe where Steve is a popular kid but was never called King Steve and Hawkins Lab and Starcourt Mall never existed.
Jonathan Byers, Nancy Wheeler, and Adam Cartwright, collectively known as Mystery Incorporated, were a trio of amateur detectives from the town of Hawkins, Indiana. They were born and raised there. They solved mysteries and unmasked fake monsters. They were 17 years old and in their junior year of high school.
Jonathan was the leader of Mystery Incorporated and built traps for the villains. He knew how to build traps because he was in the Boy Scouts when he was a kid and one of the things the scouts had to learn how to do in order to earn the wilderness survival merit badge was build traps.
Nancy was the brains of the operation. They deciphered the clues and figured out what the villains' motives were.
Adam was a loveable cowardly goofball. He served as bait for Jonathan’s traps.
Adam smoked weed. He loved food. He had a big appetite and ate pretty much anything.
Jonathan and Nancy had been dating since the beginning of sophomore year.
April 1995
Jonathan, Nancy, and Adam were at the local ice cream parlour, Scoops Ahoy.
Jonathan rang the bell that was on the counter.
One of Jonathan, Nancy, and Adam’s classmates, Robin Buckley, was behind the counter.
“Hey, dingus, your mystery-solving friends are here,” Robin called out.
Robin had fair skin, blue eyes, and a slim build. Her naturally straight brown hair was parted in the middle and reached her shoulders. She was wearing a navy blue long-sleeved shirt with horizontal white stripes, tan khaki pants, and red high-top Converse sneakers with white laces. A black leather belt with a silver buckle was around her waist. A red bandana was around her neck. A name tag was pinned to the front of her shirt. The name tag was red and had a white anchor on it. Her name was emblazoned on the name tag in white letters. A white sailor hat rested on top of her head. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, soft brown eyeshadow, and nude lip gloss. On her right wrist, she wore a black leather watch.
Steve Harrington came out of the back room and stood next to Robin.
Steve had been friends with Jonathan, Nancy, and Adam since elementary school.
Robin was a friend of Steve’s. She got along with Jonathan, Nancy, and Adam, but they weren’t friends. They were acquaintances.
Robin was the smartest student at Hawkins High School. Nancy was the second smartest.
Robin moved from Indianapolis to Hawkins at the beginning of sophomore year. She was a member of the marching band at Hawkins High School. She played the French horn. She was fluent in French, Italian, Spanish, Pig Latin, and a little bit of Russian.
Robin played soccer in elementary school and middle school. She lost interest in it when she started high school.
Robin met Steve on her first day at Hawkins High School. She wasn’t too fond of him. She thought he was a dumb jock. She started calling him “dingus.” After getting a job at Scoops Ahoy and getting to know Steve, she realized she was wrong, and “dingus” became a term of endearment. Steve wasn’t as smart as her and Nancy, but he was by no means dumb. He was kind. He was funny. He was good with kids. He was charming. He would do whatever he could to help someone.
Steve was popular. Jonathan, Nancy, Adam, and Robin weren’t. They were somewhere in the middle of the high school food chain. Steve didn’t let his popularity stop him from being friends with them.
“Ahoy there! What can I get you?” Steve asked Jonathan, Nancy, and Adam.
Steve had fair skin, brown eyes, and perfectly coiffed brown hair. He was clean-shaven. His body was slender but muscular. He was wearing a navy blue long-sleeved shirt with horizontal white stripes, tan khaki pants, and red high-top Converse sneakers with white laces. A black leather belt with a silver buckle was around his waist. A red bandana was around his neck. A name tag was pinned to the front of his shirt. The name tag was red and had a white anchor on it. His name was emblazoned on the name tag in white letters. A white sailor hat rested on top of his head. On his right wrist, he wore a black leather watch.
Jonathan held up his index finger and his middle finger. “Chocolate. Two scoops.”
Jonathan had fair skin, brown eyes, and short, straight brown hair. He was clean-shaven. His body was slender but muscular. He was wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and blue high-top Vans sneakers with white laces.
Nancy held up her index finger and her middle finger. “Cookies n’ Cream. Two scoops.”
Nancy had fair skin, blue eyes, and a slim build. Her naturally straight brown hair was parted in the middle and reached her chest. She was wearing a red long-sleeved shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and red high-top Vans sneakers with white laces. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, soft brown eyeshadow, and nude lip gloss.
Adam held up his index finger and his middle finger. “Rocky Road. Two scoops.”
Adam had fair skin, green eyes, and short, straight brown hair. He was clean-shaven. His body was slender but muscular. He was wearing a green long-sleeved shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and green high-top Converse sneakers with white laces.
Steve grabbed an ice cream scoop and got to work.
Steve passed Jonathan a spoon and a bowl of chocolate ice cream.
“Thanks.” Jonathan said.
“You’re welcome.” Steve said.
Steve passed Nancy a spoon and a bowl of Cookies n’ Cream.
“Thanks.” Nancy said.
“You’re welcome.” Steve said.
Steve passed Adam a spoon and a bowl of Rocky Road.
“Thanks.” Adam said.
“You’re welcome.” Steve said.
Jonathan, Nancy, and Adam gave Steve some money. They found an empty table and started eating their ice cream.
May 1995
Jonathan parked his black 1991 Ford Taurus outside of Nancy’s house.
Nancy got in the passenger’s seat.
Nancy smiled. “Hey.”
Nancy was wearing an unbuttoned grey cardigan, a red tank top, dark blue denim jeans, and grey ankle-length boots. Her naturally straight brown hair was down. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, soft brown eyeshadow, and nude lip gloss.
Jonathan smiled. “Hey.”
Jonathan was wearing a blue cotton sweater, dark blue denim jeans, and brown ankle-length leather boots. He was clean-shaven.
Nancy gave Jonathan a peck on the lips.
Jonathan and Nancy were going on a date.
Jonathan backed out of Nancy’s driveway. He parked his car outside of the local Italian restaurant, Enzo’s.
Jonathan and Nancy walked to the door. He held the door open for her. They found a booth near the back of the restaurant.
Benny’s Burgers
Jonathan and Nancy were sitting in a booth near the back of the restaurant.
Jonathan's car was parked in front of the restaurant.
Adam stood next to the door, smoking a joint.
Adam had walked to the restaurant. He lived across the street.
Adam pulled the joint out of his mouth.
Adam put out the joint by dropping it and stepping on it.
Adam walked into the restaurant, taking a seat next to Jonathan.
“Hey, guys. What's up?" Adam asked.
Adam was wearing an unzipped green hoodie with a white drawstring, a white t-shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and green high-top Adidas sneakers with white laces. His hood was down. He was clean-shaven.
"Jonathan was talking to one of the waiters last night. He said his mother saw a monster in her house and ran off. He also said that she's staying with him and his wife because she's too scared to go back there. Jonathan wants us to check it out." Nancy said.
Nancy was wearing an unzipped red cotton jacket, a white t-shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and red high-top Converse sneakers with white laces. Her naturally straight brown hair was down. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, soft brown eyeshadow, and nude lip gloss.
“There's no fucking way I'm going to a house someone saw a monster in." Adam said.
"What if I promise to buy you lunch for the next two weeks?" Jonathan asked.
Jonathan was wearing an unbuttoned dark blue denim jacket, a grey t-shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and grey high-top Converse sneakers with white laces. He was clean-shaven.
"Ugh," Adam groaned. He hated how easy it was for Jonathan to bribe him with food. "Fine."
After ordering and paying for their food, the group got in Jonathan's car.
Jonathan parked in front of the house the waiter told him about. It was a two-story wooden house. It was painted white. The roof was made of asphalt shingles.
Jonathan, Nancy, and Adam entered the house. Jonathan and Nancy walked down a hallway. Adam walked down a different hallway.
Jonathan stopped in front of a door. He opened the door, and Nancy followed him inside.
Jonathan and Nancy were in someone's bedroom. They walked over to the desk and began searching for clues.
Suddenly, Jonathan and Nancy heard piano music playing. They exchanged a confused look and made their way to the foyer, where they ran into Adam.
"Where is that music coming from?" Adam asked.
Jonathan, Nancy, and Adam heard an angry shriek. They turned their heads and saw a large creature with a bald head, green skin, pointed ears, red pupils, black sclera, fangs, and clawed hands and feet. Its clothing was torn. It appeared to be male.
Everyone ran away. Nancy decided to follow Jonathan.
The creature pursued Adam.
Nancy opened a door and got wrapped up in ropes. She reached into her jacket and pulled out the pocket knife she carried around in case she ever got caught in one of Jonathan’s traps. She used the knife to cut the ropes.
Nancy put her pocket knife back in her jacket.
This was the first time Nancy had gotten caught in one of Jonathan’s traps.
“Sorry for messing up the trap.” Nancy said.
“Don’t worry about it. There's a second one.” Jonathan said.
Jonathan and Nancy walked down a hallway. They heard Adam cheering. They entered a room and saw that the creature was wrapped up in ropes.
Nancy took the mask off, revealing a clean-shaven man with fair skin, blue eyes, and short, straight blond hair. “This is my neighbour, Henry Creel. He's a janitor at Hawkins Middle School.”
“Why did you come here?” Jonathan asked Henry.
“There’s money hidden under the floorboards. I dressed up in this costume and scared the owner away so she wouldn't know I was looking for it. And I would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for you meddling kids!" Henry yelled.

In Rosetta’s absence, it was her warmth that Jamie missed most of all; the way her arms could fully envelope her petite frame, and tuck her right in with her chin atop her head. It’s the feeling of safety that she misses - though, it isn’t that she feels unsafe here in the apartment or in the city either, but simply, she enjoys the feeling of having a lover like this.
“It was quiet without you, baby,” She murmurs against Ro’s chest before finally separating just enough to look up and make eye contact. “Who were they arguing?” She asks with a little laugh, and a wider smile, letting her fingers play along Ro’s sleeves before urging her to take off her coat from her shoulders.
Rosetta let the feel of having Jamie in her arms sink deep into her bones, her warmth and love giving the former soldier the strength to stay standing even with the exhaustion making her want to crumble. She nuzzled against Jamie a little at the feel of their foreheads touching, not wanting to part from her just yet, not again for a long while.
“I missed you too. It is good to be home.” Home. This was her home, in Jamie’s arms, feeling her comforting touch, breathing in her presence, seeing that beautiful smile Rosetta longed to see every day she was away. Yes, this was home and Rosetta couldn’t resist giving Jamie one last peck on her forehead before answering her question, her mirroring Jamie’s in being no louder than a whisper, “Long, I was stuck playing checkers with Monroe and playing referee between Jones and Beatty and their argument on who is the greatest super villain of all time. I don’t think they actually agreed on a winner.”

[ WATCH ] for muses to cuddle on a couch while watching tv and one of them begins to finger the other but stops every time they make too much noise. (Jamie and Rosetta?)
@ordinaryheroines | for Jamie | meme.
“What? Am I... distracting you?”
Jamie plays coy, of course, as their usual evening run of TV plays on while her hand continues to tease beneath the fabric of her jeans, between Rosetta’s thighs. She earns a heavy sigh through Ro’s nose but not a verbal response, and it’s enough to continue, pressing two fingers against the top of her sex - met with the familiar feeling of her warmth at the tips.
“Jamie...” Ro says her name with a hand coming to brace herself over the back of the couch, lifting herself up just enough to pull her jeans down to her ankles, spreading her legs apart to give Jamie more room. With that kind of opportunity, Jamie doesn’t waste time in teasing around her lover’s clit, leaning in to kiss along the tender column of Rosetta’s neck. Whatever was going on in their show, she’s since moved her attention to her partner entirely; gradually, when she can hear Ro’s breath growing heavy and her hips lifting to demand more of her touch, she slides her fingers along her slit, pushing past tender folds to slip inside of her. A gasp and a slew of words beneath her lover’s breath follow, acting only as further encouragement.
“God, I missed you,” Jamie admits as she lifts her head, hooded eyes watching as she starts moving her fingers slowly, almost pulling all the way out before pushing back in, building that rhythm she knows Rosetta enjoys most. Her gentle moans start to grow in volume, but it’s Jamie’s free hand that comes up to her partner’s lips, and the hand between her thighs slows down for a moment. “Ah, ah, you don’t wanna wake Tabi up, right?” She teases, mostly - knowing full well Ro’s daughter has long been to bed and usually doesn’t wake at this point, but still, she uses that as a point to tease her lover, to make her behave.
“Mm, you’re right,” Rosetta gives in, turning her head to kiss Jamie, and it earns her what she wants - those fingers continue their trajectory, building up that sweet, sweet rhythm where she curls the tips just enough that staying quiet becomes a challenge.

When the Palomino’s crew boards the Cygnus, they are met by Dr. Reindhardt (Maximilian Schell) and a bizarre, faceless army who plan to be the first people ever to explore a black hole. Notable for being the first Disney film to be rated “PG” and to feature CGI, THE BLACK HOLE was at the time the most expensive picture ever produced by Disney.
Defender of the Universe, Gary Nelson
The Defender of the Universe Award honors a cinematic star or mentor whose heroic actions help mold us intothe future humans we aspire to be. In stories that examine what it means to be human, often in the face of rapidly developing technology, alternate histories or multi-galaxial space sagas where we are just one of the many players in a political landscape, SciFi heroes teach us who we are and what we value.
Best remembered for THE BLACK HOLE, basically ‘20,000 Leagues In Space’ with spectacular production design and a mesmerizing score from John Barry, Gary Nelson’s other directing credits include FREAKY FRIDAY and ALLAN QUARTERMAIN AND THE LOST CITY OF GOLD. With a career spanning decades of work from directing for TV Westerns like HAVE GUN – WILL TRAVEL and GUNSMOKE, to comedies like GILLIGAN’S ISLAND and GET SMART, to a long relationship with Disney, Nelson helped define the role of a director in what the FCC chairman had just deemed ‘a vast wasteland.’ Later, as he moved into film, his finely-tuned skills turned what could have been genre-knock-offs into classic adventure stories in their own right.

Diego Hallivis and producer Julio Hallivis are Mexican-American brothers whose first film GAME TIME was released by Lionsgate in 2011. “Yeah, that’s me,” Jamie answers with a warm smile; her hand rests neatly curled against her glass -- half full of some pink mixed drink that was on special for the evening. Her time in Los Angeles has been eventful, to say the least. This bar was new - and one of the few, few lesbian bars in the area, let alone the country.
“I’m a bank manager, by trade,” She answers, offering a hand. “I met Bette through a mutual friend, years ago. You must be Shane, yeah?”
‘ ‘ hey — it’s jamie, right ? enjoying the party ? ’ ’ the woman asks before taking a sip of her drink as she approaches the other. another night, another party at dana’s; shane’s bar seems to be turning quickly into a hot point. good —— but there’s still plenty of work to do. ‘ ‘ bette said you work in finances or something…’ ’

Bus King/Busking/Night Moves
That’s a photo of me and my ex-gf. I just found it last week in my bag that Jamie brought to me from Burlington, thanks Jamie bro. Happier times, man. We’re still friends but we don’t see each other much. That’s a repeating pattern with me. Me and a gal will break up, declare an intention to stay friends, and then I be their friend while they work hard at vanishing from my life and into the arms of some dude who hates me cuz I’m still her friend. Happened with Jessica, happened with Courtney. Next time I’ll just do the sudden severance. Seems to work for other people.
Well, fuck. I’ve been struggling a little bit lately. Still sober, still pissing in a cup every day. My hours got cut at work for a few weeks but they’re back up to full-time next week, where they’ll remain until mid-December. I’m trying to save my apartment, need to find a roommate to take over the lease, which requires first and last, which I don’t have but I’m trying to acquire somehow.
A few days ago I went busking for the first time in about a year. Queen and University is my corner, northwest side. I like it there because you get a lot of 905ers coming out of Osgoode Station to go explore Queen West, people who don’t ordinarily see buskers, so they’re generous. I can only play for about three hours on an acoustic before my fingers start to hurt too much to play chords, and you average about six bucks an hour. I write a lot of songs that way. “Make It Mine” off the new album was written while busking last year and I came up with a few new ones the other day. It was a good day, actually. I woke up broke and without food and ended the day with a full belly and a pack of cigarettes and an Arizona Iced Tea. I felt content. So I’m gonna go back out there tomorrow. And probably the next day too.
My laptop died and I almost lost the record, but I was able to extract the files after a few days of feeling numb and worried. I really like our upcoming album, the songs have kept me good company over the past year, and the thought of losing the whole damn thing, save for “Fighting Ways” which is finished, and a handful of others, was a little scary. It’s not gone though. Sweet relief. BCN songs are like cockroaches. They find a way. Cue “Long Distance King” in your head as you read that last line...”we’ll find a waaaaay, we’ll fiiind a waaaaay.” Glory days. Before everything went to shit.
Hey, know what’s a great record? Break Up Break Down by Reigning Sound. Listen to the quavering, breathless delivery from Greg Cartwright on this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fWcZKZR3jg
Another great one off that record is called “Want You,” a really sad, pretty ballad. I’d like to make an album of Memphis ballads some day, in the vein of Break Up Break Down. We’ll call it Fuck Up Fuck Off or something.
I set up my keyboard tonight with a mind to do some overdubs tomorrow. I’ve been avoiding doing keyboard overdubs on the album forever because I’m a terrible keyboard player and it takes a really long time to get a single coherent take and I don’t have the patience that I used to. I finished “Night Needles” from A Steamroller Named Desire in a single evening, and that song has probably the most piano of any BCN song. I doubt I could do the same thing now. I’m older now and runnin against the wind, as Bob Seger would sing. Has sung, whatever. Running Against the Wind. I love that song. “Wish I didn’t know now what I didn’t know then” is a great line eh? Legend has it Seger wanted to cut that line but the producer told him how great it was, which it is. Oftentimes artists can’t recognize their own greatness. Years ago, when I was sixteen or so, I was trying to put together a set of acoustic covers in my bedroom. I remember doing “Leave It Alone” by Moist, which is pretty embarrassing now, but also “Against the Wind” and an acoustic version of the Smashing Pumpkin’s “Ava Adore,” which I was surprised to find has a very similar chord progression as “Against the Wind.” I mean, those two songs sound nothing alike, yet they’re very alike, chord-wise.
ANYWAY I’m rambling. Just finished an assignment for a client (I do people’s homework for them as a side hustle. Forty bucks here, sixty bucks there, it all goes into the giant hole I dug for myself the past few years.) I owe money to one guy who actually chased me this past January, up near Dovercourt and Hallam. I had to jump a couple fences but I got away. He’ll get paid soon enough. They all do.
I’m working on it man. Pushing against the tide. Runnin against the wind.
One last thing about that Bob Seger song: I’ve always thought that part where he yells “let the cowboys ride!” at the end of the song was stupid. Why couldn’t he have taken that part out? It’s so obvious that he was out of ideas and just mustered up the best open field imagery he could in the moment. Let the cowboys ride? Given the greatness that comes before that line, I can’t dismiss the song, even if it’s not as good as the immortal “Night Moves.”
A quick word about “Night Moves” before I go. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mRFWQoXq4c I honestly think it’s one of the greatest all-time vocal performances. There are three distinct parts in the song that always give me shivers. The first is that irresistible “summertime summertime” part @ 2:19. The second comes in that great breakdown, when the title changes from a sexual innuendo to a somber, forlorn musing on the passage of time and how time can move slower when you’re bored, faster when you’re absorbed and excited. Ain’t it funny how the night moves...when you just don’t seem to haaaaaaaave as much to lo-o-se. It’s that “have” that always gets me...just the way Seger gives it the perfect amount of witsfulness and gravelly gravity. Fuckin killer. Singing is always a fine balance between technical proficiency and emotional delivery, but on that line Seger’s 99% heart, 1% technique, and it still sounds incredible. To me, at least.
The last part is in the final minor descending refrain @ 5:04, even though it’s just Bob doing a bunch of “ooooohooohoohhhs.” It wouldn’t be as good if that vocal came over the main riff, but it doesn’t. It comes over the same chord progression as the chorus, that sad lilting minor key descent. Every time, man. Every time.
I’ve been trying to cover “Night Moves” since 2007. I don’t think I’ve ever got past the first chorus. I just can’t sell it. Those aren’t my memories, they’re Bob Seger’s. I never existed in the 1950s America he’s singing about in the song, the America of taking your sweetheart to the drive-in, cruising the strip, going to diners and pushing coins into jukeboxes. That wasn’t my adolescence. So it’s a tough one to sing. You have to know when you’re beaten. That’s part of growing up.
I don’t talk to my Dad anymore. He hates my guts and so does his girlfriend. It doesn’t bother me except for when I hear certain songs...songs like “Night Moves” or “Walking On The Moon” by The Police...first time I ever heard my father sing on the way to Owen Sound for a hockey tournament I was playing...it was the chorus, that “no way, chasing your cares away” part, and we had sunflower seeds and that was the night I fell in love with highways and movement and travel and all that Kerouac stuff I’d get obsessed with later, all those fuckin notebooks I filled with eager scrawling about road trips I hadn’t yet taken. I lost all those notebooks somehow, can’t remember maybe I tossed them all on purpose, kind of a year zero event. Too much in those notebooks was lines from existing songs. I remember one time going through an old notebook and seeing “the sea is foaming like a bottle of beer” and thinking I’d written it...nope...it was a Weezer song. I’d just scrawled out that one line hammered one night, drunk at 17, back when it was actually exciting to get drunk and not a sad chore like it later became.
I’m going busking tomorrow. I might not be able to do “Night Moves” but I can bust out “Against the Wind.” I ain’t licked yet. It ain’t over. I’m older now and still runnin against the wind. Let the cowboys ride or whatever.
Edit, PS: That was a really dramatic fuckin post. I’m sorry. For some much-needed levity, here’s a picture of me from last week. Some friends visited while I was in bed, and I came out to say hello still holding my book. PPS: Hey, know another great Bob Seger song? “Still the Same,” especially those ghostly backing vocals in the second verse. Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjDpKeiYxOU PPPS: Hey, know another song that has cool ghostly additional instrumental in the second verse? Bruce Springsteen’s “Downbound Train.” It’s not his greatest song and I don’t like Bruce’s overdone “blue collar accent,” the dumb slurring he likes to do in order to sound more like a mechanic making $20 000 a year, but that beautiful synth organ that comes in on the second verse is just heartwrenching, listen for it @ 0:49: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nc_mv46NwT4 The organ has a pretty sweet solo for one-bar starting at 1:21. If I could get that organ tone, I wouldn’t put off doing keyboard overdubs, lemme tell ya son, I tell ya what.

@ordinaryheroines - con’t.
"Hey, hey, hey. Not so fast, querida," Rosetta had beaten Jamie home today and as she quickly wrapped her arms around the petite woman's waist from her seat at the table, she was planning on getting a proper kiss hello before Tabby would get home from school.
"C'mere, I haven't seen you all day and I didn't get to give you a proper good morning or goodbye before you were shooting off. Besides, I've missed you."
A little surprised, Jamie lets out a soft gasp with how quickly Ro had enveloped her in her strong arms, hardly protesting her sudden ‘predicament.’
“Well, I had to start early,” She begins but her excuse falls away with a hand that brushes back a loose strand of short cropped black hair from Ro’s face, decidedly sliding into her lap with petite hands cupping the other woman’s face, followed with a proper kiss this time. “Hi,” She whispers beneath her breath. “I missed you, too, baby...”

❝ do you need me to slow down? ❞ (ro to Jamie)
@ordinaryheroines | for Jamie | meme. (tentatively accepting!)
“No, baby, you’re-” Jamie takes a few breaths to compose herself, finding Rosetta’s big, beautiful brown eyes above her, grinning. “This is good.”
A gentle hand comes up to cup Ro’s cheek in her palm, fingers tracing long the side of her shaved head. It’s starting to grow in a bit, but the feeling beneath her fingertips is still something she loves doing. From below her girlfriend, she has her legs wrapped around her hips, with the feeling of the leather harness pressing against her thighs, and Rosetta’s strap-on inside of her.
“Really good,” Jamie reiterates as she leans up to kiss Ro gently, letting her teeth catch her lover’s bottom lip before her head falls back to the pillows beneath her, a muss of dirty blonde and blushed cheeks. “I love having you like this...” Hands come to pull against Ro’s shoulders, down the curve of her back and to her hips, tugging lightly - acting encouragement - for her to continue.

Nightlife in the big city usually means something is going on for just about anyone. After a long, hard week, Jamie usually finds she’s inclined to strip out of her business attire from work and wear nothing but sweat pants and a big hoodie in her apartment. Tonight though, there’s a drive to go out and explore, to have a few drinks. After taking her dog for a well needed walk, she finds herself off the subway, downtown. The air is a little cool, but nothing to shake a stick at.
The first place that comes to mind for dinner, though the line is a little bit out the door. With nowhere to go, Jamie lines up, hands in the pockets of her leather jacket.
– @afraidofchange || from HERE
She’s tired, her hands loosely cupping a bottle of something as she stares into space. Perched on her motorcycle (custom to fit her size), the woman sips her drink. Her helmet hangs from a handlebar and there’s a bag on her back that’s loosely open. It doesn’t take much for the scarred woman to shove her drink back into her bag, reaching over her own shoulder to zip it closed.
Green eyes close as she leans over the handlebars, yawning softly. Getting home was a lot of work, and it exhausted her greatly. Perhaps she should find somewhere to go for the night before it gets too dark.

The flight had been long, the time away even longer, the longest she had been away since moving to Toronto in fact, and she missed her daughter and girlfriend so much, Ro was half convinced if she didn't see at least one of them soon she would go insane. The down side of that plan was Tabby being at a sleepover and she wasn't sure if Jamie was working late, so the relief was almost overwhelming when she saw her beautiful partner coming down the stairs just as she got in. Ro didn't stop or hesitate, just put her bag and keys down on the hall table, wrapped her arms around Jamie's waist while she was on the last step and kissed her so passionately and lovingly, Rosetta was sure every fibre of her being was in this kiss before she pulled away and whispered against the softest lips she had ever kissed, "I'm sorry I'm home so late, honey."
@ordinaryheroines | for Jamie.
Hearing the door lock slide open, Jamie finds herself taking the stairs down two at a time. She’d long awaiting Rosetta’s return after her time away, letting Tabby have one last sleepover with friends to help the time go by faster until her mother returned. Relief washes over her when she sees Ro approach, and she barely gets out a ‘hi’ before her girlfriend is kissing her, wrapping her arms around her, and just enveloping her in a long embrace, nearly on equal footing with Jamie still on the bottom step. Sighing into Ro’s kiss, Jamie finds herself relaxing, content to be in her lover’s arms again after her absence.
“Hi, baby,” She whispers in return, leaning her forehead against Ro’s, simply taking her in - the feel of her warm breath against her cheeks, the safety in the strength of her arms, and the scent of her perfume. “I missed you,” She says after a moment’s grace, hands rubbing lightly along Ro’s back, and holding her close by the waist. “How was your flight?”

❛ you know where to find me. ❜ for Jamie
@lawandchaos - for Jamie
“Well, I’d certainly hope the address on your file is correct,” As much as Jamie’s tone remains serious, the revealing crack of her smile gives her demeanor away entirely. Over the years with a wide variety of clients, she can safely say Franky has certainly been one of the more interesting with a criminal record, but actually trying and staying back on her feet.

🎐 : our muses slow dance together (Jamie and Rosetta, please?)
𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍. | @ordinaryheroines
“I’m um, a little out of shape for dancing,” Jamie laughs a little under her breath. One could even say she was a bit nervous or even a little shy, though not because of Rosetta herself, but simply the setting and being out at an evening event, among colleagues and friends and strangers. Yet, the way that Ro squeezes her hand gently between both of hers and pleads with those dark, soulful eyes makes it incredibly difficult to say no.
Rosetta leads the way to the dancefloor with Jamie in tow, taking her by the waist and by the hand, and soon they fall into a rhythm to the slow paced song - an old classic she’s heard plenty of times before. Gradually, slowly, she’s drawn closer and soon as the lights dim low, she rests her head against Rosetta’s chest, arms around her shoulders. They step in tandem, side to side, and around one beat at a time. The smell of her perfume, the sound of her breath, and the feel of her smile - all of it feels like home - and after several minutes, she feels that strong desire to take Rosetta home for the evening.
The last chorus of the song plays out and she finally lifts her head, standing on the tips of her toes in high heels to steal a long, gentle kiss that just barely invokes the suggestive swipe of a tongue before she pulls away with that telltale smirk. Maybe she’s a little out of shape to dance, but not enough to keep that feeling of desire away.

governingmouse:
She needs for Jamie to recover; Vera cannot make it on her own. The path of loneliness has led her to do perform regrettable acts. The past haunts her. Her bottom lip trembles, a telltale sign of her emotional downward spiral. From side to side, her body sways as if she’s a drunkard stumbling home. And she is home. She swears it. The distance between them rips into Vera and feasts upon every flaw, every insecurity. Stubbornly, she blinks away her tears.
‘ Okay, ‘ she responds in a small, hushed voice, always a fool when in love. A terrible strain manifests within her chest. Her feet set the pace. One leg shakily moves at a time. She crosses the threshold and finds safety in Jamie’s arms. Vera flings herself into that embrace which she’s been so starved of. Holding on for the sake of holding on, she sniffles and squeezes, her arms entwined around her waist. ‘ I’m so sorry. ‘
Relief comes with two syllables, harmonized in the haunting silence of the kitchen with the sound of her lover’s pronounced accent. A deep exhale follows, her posture relaxes. Drawing her gaze to Vera as she approaches, her arms open, welcoming her in forgiveness.
Chin resting upon Vera’s shoulder, Jamie breathes her in. For their time together, this is a first confrontation that bears consequence. Arms wrap around her shoulders, keeping her there. “I know, Jamie whispers, closes her eyes. “I... I forgive you,” She says - not as a finality or threat, but in earnest. A kiss to the cheek finalizes the end of the argument.

"i guess now they’re just kind of a comfort thing." for Jamie! :0
“Don’t feel bad about that, Liv. If they make you happy, why not?” Jamie offers a smile. “No harm in having something special for yourself.”
