Do you think Øystein "encouraged" Per to c**t himself at concerts because it was too "black metal"?

No, I don't think so. No one encouraged Pelle, it was Pelle's own idea, and he wanted to do it, as evident from his own letters and Abo Alsleben's book.

Before Mayhem's first gig in Jessheim, Øystein was excited about the cutting, but so were the others, because Pelle literally announced it as a big thing. He ended up cutting himself badly that night, and from that day Øystein was literally afraid that it might happen again, which is why he always had hospital drive and addresses ready at gigs. If anything, Øystein tried to discourage him. "You don't understand, there's no stopping him", he said to Abo. Also, according to Jørn Inge Tunsberg, when Øystein and Pelle lived together, Øystein hid all the knives from the kitchen.

On 21 August 1992, while Eithun was visiting family in Lillehammer, he stabbed Magne Andreassen to death. According to Eithun, while walking home from a pub through the Olympic park, a well known gay-cruising spot, Andreassen drunkenly approached him and solicited him for sex. Eithun agreed to go with him to the nearby woods and stabbed Andreassen 37 times. He kicked him in the head repeatedly as he lay on the ground.

Eithun claimed that he felt no remorse at the time. Ihsahn, his bandmate in Emperor, said that Eithun "had been very fascinated by serial killers for a long time, and I guess he wanted to know what it's like to kill a person". The media has linked the murder to black metal and speculated that Eithun was motivated by Satanism, fascism, or homophobia. In a 1993 interview, he stated: "I am not a Satanist, but I praise the evil"

In a 2008 interview, Eithun said: "I was never a Satanist or fascist in any way". In a 2012 interview he said: "I never had any racist or homophobic views". Gaahl, who is an openly gay member of the Norwegian black metal scene, said that Eithun was the first person to send him a message of support when he came out. Jørn Inge Tunsberg of the band Hades Almighty said that the murder was "an impulse killing" and that "it had nothing to do with black metal".

What kind of humour did pelle have? People say like morbid and odd.

Yes, dark, morbid and odd is correct.

Also- Swedes apparently love to invent and combine words in a humorous way, and I think some Norwegians simply couldn't get the joke because of cultural difference, thus describing him as "without the sense of humor". Although, it is important to know that Pelle disliked to joke in the presence of unknown people or people he didn't know that well. Many people described him as funny - Morgan Håkansson, Necrobutcher, Nils Svensson, Jens Näsström, Lars Göran Petrov, Jørn Inge Tunsberg, Nocturno Culto - to name a few

Part 2, Inge's recollection of the same event as in my last post- Slayer show and meeting Pelle and Øystein for the first time.

"The first time I heard that Dead was in the band was around 1988. Some friends and I were in Oslo to see Slayer on their "South of Heaven" tour. We saw Euronymous and Dead in the crowd. I'd just bought the Deathcrush EP. We got to know them right after this Slayer gig! I can remember that I thought they both looked really cool and grim! I was a "Death Metaller" and they were hardcore "Black Metallers". I met Dead sometimes when visiting Euronymous, Helvete, etc. in Oslo. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE MAYHEM'S REPUTATION LEADING UP TO THE GIG?

"In Bergen, we didn't know very much about them back then. We had the Deathcrush mini-LP, and were a little amazed that they actually had released something more than a demo tape. That was big! Some months before that gig, me and a friend went to Oslo to see Slayer, and we met Øystein and Pelle in the line at Rockefeller venue. When we got to know them, we suddenly entered a new world of metalheads!"

HOW DID DEAD'S OFFSTAGE PERSONA RELATE TO HIS ONSTAGE PERSONA? "I didn't know him well, but we ended up in his and Øystein's apartment to party after the Slayer show. I talked a lot with him at that party. Øystein was telling us several times that he had to hide all the knives etc. from the kitchen. Both me and Pelle laughed about that, but of course, little did we know... Onstage, though, this was another person in my opinion, very inspiring.
