MEET MY FOUNDER'S 2ND WIFE
Ivett Bennett (née Baker) (1287-)
Traits: Introvert, Nurturing
Ivett Baker was born in year 1287 in England. She was the 4th oldest of the family of a local baker, but even though everyone bought bread and pastries from her family, they were still really poor peasants.
From her youngest years, she wasn't the type of girl to be interested in romance or marriage. She liked children, sure - she had 6 younger siblings, after all. But she liked peace and silence as well, which wouldn't be possible with a bunch of screaming kids. She much more preferred reading books or playing the lute. She knew how to read from her older sister, who could be considered "rebellious" - she thought that women should have the same rights as men and should be able to educate themselves. That's why she taught her younger siblings to read and write.
Unfortunately, she didn't have a choice, as a woman in mediaval times. Because she didn't want to be a nun as well, as she didn't consider herself very religious, her father finally had enough and married her off to Gilbert Bennett, a young widower with two little daughters, in 1301. Right now, Ivett just hopes for a decent relationship with her new husband and his family, as well as some free time to read new lectures and play songs on her beloved lute.

1331 - 1340 | Recap
Previous | Beginning | This decade | Next
During this decade, the Hambleton family grew and expanded. Some of the girls got married and started their own family. They are not named Hambleton anymore but, they are still part of this loving family. This decade also marked the start of the Hundred Year war against France. Fortunately, only one sims has been enlisted this time. Now for the sad part, there are still a lot of deaths in this decade, too many if you were to ask me!

YEAR 1301
After Matilda's death, Gilbert's world fell apart. He lost the love of his life to childbirth, and he had not one, but two kids to care for. It's not like he regretted the birth of his daughters - he loved them with all his heart. After all, they were his own blood and flesh, and the only thing he got left of his late wife. But caring for two newborns, especially when he was just a young boy of 15, began to be too stressful and hard for him. That's why he decided to remarry. He was certain than he'll never love anyone again like he loved Matilda, but he needed help with kids and, most likely, a woman would be better at caring for them than a single, young teen.
His searching for a wife wasn't very long - when a local baker found out about a young widower with two kids, he immediately called for Gilbert to come to his house. Turns out, the baker had six children, of whom his oldest daughter, Ivett, was turning 14 this year, but was still interested in "foolish things", like reading or mathematics. According to the man, she was way too old to be still unmarried, so he would be overjoyed to marry her off to someone. Gilbert wasn't too sure about it, but when he found out that Ivett - because that was her name - loved children and caring for them, he finally agreed. After all, that was all what he needed right now.
After a short courtship, Gilbert Bennett and Ivett Baker were wed in early May, 1301. Gilbert could only hope that he chose a right woman to care for his beloved girls.
