Novak Djokovic’s former coach Ivanisevic backs Paris champion to go for gold at LA 2028
Novak Djokovic’s triumphant Paris 2024 Olympics campaign could motivate the 37-year-old to keep going for four more years and compete in the Los Angeles Games, his former coach Goran Ivanisevic said. Djokovic beat Carlos Alcaraz 7-6(3) 7-6(2) on Sunday to claim the gold medal and became only the fifth player to achieve a career Golden Slam – winning all four Grand Slam trophies and the Olympic…

Zagreb Ch R1: David Pichler/Daniel Cukierman def. Roko Horvat/Emanuel Ivanisevic 6-2, 6-3 Match Stats
📸 ATP official website
D. Pichler/Cukierman turned out to control the flow starting from their net game, as Roko/Emanuel tried to sustain their balance. Despite several notable return aces in between, the former pair still utilized the open court well to put their balls in, thus converting 5 of their 12 break points despite Roko/Emanuel converting 50% of their 4 break points due to some slips in the former's service game, which they managed well from their balanced point construction between the net and some baseline plays as they outhit Roko/Emanuel's forehand sides.
On the other hand, D. Pichler/Cukierman had a more solid service game despite some hiccups in both sets. Scoring 2 aces than Roko/Emanuel's 1, the former pair excelled in their first serves by having a 75% winning percentage than the latter's 65%, which helped them getting out of some moments. However, the 5 double faults from the home wild cards waned their second serve winning percentage to 34%, 16% lesser than D. Pichler/Cukierman, which cost them some of the possible moments.
In tomorrow's quarterfinals, D. Pichler/Cukierman will face Mihai Alexandru Jecan/Henrique Rocha, who stunned first seeds Ray Ho/Callum Puttergill 6-3, 6-3 in a confident showing. Recognizing H. Rocha's singles rise, this could be an intriguing encounter in terms of their point construction, as well as their balance in general as the doubles field gradually became wide open. Should be a fun clash to close the day!

there are a lot of rumours going around that jannik wants goran ivanisevic on his team now that he's available again after rybakina and since cahill is (likely) retiring at the end of the season. what do you think of goran as his coach? i feel like he'd focus on his volley and net game a lot, could help him improve it a lot
ooh interesting! jannik’s net game is probably his biggest weakness (it’s not even that bad, it’s just that the rest of his game is so good). I also think jannik is focusing on titles he hasn’t won yet and where do really good volleys pay off… wimbledon. I think goran could be a good fit for jannik for sure, I think he mentioned how he liked coaching someone with elena’s temperament which jannik also fits. I’m excited to see if this actually happens

good read from rothenberg!
some brain dump from me re the artx
"Ivanisevic then acknowledged that his tenure is tenuous, suggesting that his remaining with Rybakina was contingent on the WTA’s ruling regarding Vukov." -> i'm interpreting this as he'll leave should WTA rule to not ban vukov 😭 which is very unfortunate
a decision re the ban is expected to happen by the end of this week, i wonder if there's a possibility of vukov back in elena's back should they get a ruling before AO matches

Maybe it’s time for Carlitos to hire someone new, you know, for a change. A second coach could be a good idea, you know, to have someone sharing a different light. Now that Goran Ivanisevic is open to hire and Carlitos needs to work on his serve so maybe… just maybe…
Carlos Alcaraz lost in QF is making me ramble about things.
